We're back with the second JACK cassettes series!

Following the success of the first JACK series, we've decided to pull heavyweights out of the treasure trove of Chicago reel to reels acquired by Still Music last year.

This second series is another incredible glance into our beloved House music through some lost radio mixes salvaged from reel to reels by Jerome Derradji.

We start with a superb one hour mix from Frankie Knuckles circa 1986 and dive straight to the Hot Mix 5 with Edward 'Get Down' Crosby and his insane mixes, full of edits and original beat traxx. A small detour to Miami is made with a killer electro mix by WGCI guest Joe Magic.

Alex took his first musical steps by studying piano and guitar at the young age of 6. His fascination for the more outlandish, experimental side of each instrument corrupted his lessons and sent him down a modular synths and tape loop composition wormhole. Years later Alex resurfaced, got himself clean and, through connections made while spending time as a vocal audience member (and sometimes uninvited participant) at Lyman Woodard, Phil Ranelin, and other Tribe- and Motown-linked gigs in Cass Corridor during the mid-1970s, spent time as a session musician for Earth Wind and Fire, Chic, and Prince. It was only toward the mid-90s he found himself enthralled by the techno and house sounds of Detroit and Chicago so he went into the woodshed and came out firing electronic salvos.

We here at Watergate Records are ecstatic to bring you the first single release 'Do Me feat. Khan', from Tiefschwarz in anticipation of their stunning new album, 'Left'. Along with a couple of carefully curated remixes by from two of the most prolific and unique remixers working today, Roman Flügel and Frank Wiedemann, the complete package is a trifecta. The original 'Do Me feat. Khan' is fully rooted in Tiefschwarz's cryptic dance floor approach, intricately balancing the serious and the absurd through the call and response of an almost comedically vocoded voice and a smooth, slick talking murmur. Khan's voice joined with a continually climbing bassline, lush percussive melodies and infectious drums result in a cut that is perfect for, and will shine, any time. Going a different direction by barely using the vocal, but staying very true to the original is Roman Flügel. Taking the original bassline and shortening the loop to 3/4 time, Flügel has devised a hypnotic tail chase that continues from beginning to end only to be accompanied by the whip of a big hi hat and wild 909 claps. Finally, it's the Frank Wiedemann Orchestra Remix, and it's pretty safe to say that this will be one of the anthems of the year. Aptly titled, the remix is a magnum opus conducted by a master. An enormous ensemble of rich strings and delicate melodies that build and swell from start to finish.

Teaching everyone about making proper, grooving, jazzy deep house music, both tracks on here are worth their weight in wax. "Optimum", a track dominated by the superb soulful vocals by Jrod Indigo makes you feel some pounds lighter. "Destination" is a re-intepretation of the 80ies rare funk tracks with a touch of jazz!

Originally released on Relief Records; the Chicago techno label headed up by Cajmere, these releases were Gemini's introduction into the worlds of house and techno, and contain some of his most vital works.

As one of Chicago's most mysterious and revered characters, the story of Gemini, aka Spencer Kincy has become something of a myth in recent years - blazing a trail throughout the 90's, prolifically releasing over 200 tracks from 1994 to 1999, Spencer's music had shades innovation and soul few of his peers could match. Then, suddenly, at the peak of his career, he disappeared.

As before, this album has been licensed directly from the man himself, and the money made from its exploitation will go directly to him.

Instead, 2020Vision will release 'Content', a compilation mixed by Ralph Lawson featuring 20 exclusive new original tracks and remixes from a dizzying array of arch collaborators. This album will be augmented by a series of parties across the planet including Fabric, Sonar, Hideout, Ibiza, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Munich, Zurich, Glasgow, Leeds and beyond.

You can tell a lot about a label by the friends it keeps, especially when those friends include Matthew Herbert, Eats Everything, Simian Mobile Disco, Groove Armada, Cassy, Matthias Tanzmann, Psychemagik, Dense & Pika, Tom Trago, Huxley, Waze & Odyssey, Ejeca, PBR Streetgang, Doc Daneeka and Citizen among them. A formidable assembly of the world's top electronic music talent by anyone's measure, but put in the context of one album, it makes 'Content' a strong contender for compilation of the year from the tracklist alone.

Every WPH Summer brings us...the WPH Summer Special! Well, some summer specials have been known to be released in the winter, with huge acclaim from the cold masses who had something to warm their hearts and souls to. So we figured we would release another summer special in the winter...
The mysterious-but-not-really Harry Baldi kicks things off with 'Something For Your Mind', a sample-ridden up tempo house workout that will also go down a treat on techno floors. Solid Yamaha bass anyone Up next we introduce a new Belgian member to the WPH family. DJ Miclem has quietly been working on his music and now it's time to let some of it out of the studio and onto your decks. This is the vintage WPH sound that got us on the map!

On the b-side WPH mainstay Kiani & His Legion are at it again, bringing you a relentless track that will destroy any club, rave or festival floor. He's got his WPH licence alright! The final wax grooves of this E.P. are taken up by another WPH classic, Maxim Lany, who teams up with his friend Audio City Soul (welcome Maks!) to bring us the slow burner 'Jili'. All in all we think it's another class WPH act.

Bodytonic Music is the new record label from those rascals in Dublin called ...errr Bodytonic . The same chancers behind Dublin clubbing institution the Twisted Pepper, boozer the Bernard Shaw, Raver Cottage , the Beatyard, Doortonic, Scribble Records, POGO Recordings, Kormac's Big Band and plenty more random and nonsensical things, this label has been started to create a home for all those variations in one record label. So expect no two releases to sound the same, or anything in general to overly make much sense - it will all be made up as it goes along.


The first release on the label is the debut EP by White Collar Boy. White Collar Boy are a two piece electronic-garage group from Dublin. Mark Cummins (the ginger one) and Gavin White (the-not-so-ginger one) met in Barcelona where their shared passion for electronic composition (and knitting) inevitably led the pair to merge their creative endeavors.


'SUUU / Tide ' comes fresh with remixes from Twisted Pepper resident Frank B (he of "Chain of Fools" fame) and Simon Bird. It drops on wax on Oct 7th and Digital on Oct 21st. You need this record.

Back in the days at the west-Saxon highlands there was a missile, which marked the starting point. When Credit 00 saw the legendary rocket rise on Tetris' final screen, it was the first time he became aware of electronic music at all. Since then it actually hasn't changed that much. He keeps pushing that buttons that belong to the impressive pool of music machines towered up next to his bed.

After moving to Dresden in 2000 to study fine arts, his passion for synthesizers and drum machines got nurtured through visits of Dresden's club-canalisation. He quickly made himself a name as a DJ, who is just doing his own thing and got popular for that reason. As a part of the Idealfun-crew he started hosting parties always in the twilight zone between legal and illegal. This led to Robo Dance', Dresden's only and (also for some other reasons) best Electro club night featuring guests like DMX Krew, Luke Eargoogle or Imatran Voima. The track Credit made with Randy Barracuda of Imatran Voima has probably been created some time after the show. Apparently, Randy was not in good shape anymore and so Lebensraum' unmistakably bears Credit's hallmarks.

For his own music he's inspired by cannibal movies, number theory and birds. Still, his music is not easy to pigeonhole. After all, he loves Synth Wave, Electro, Afro, Kraut, Kosmische, Disco, Italo, Miami Bass and other Proto stuff - a lot of machine music.

Jose Lau delivers the fifth release on Urban Imagery. Four tracks from familial territory by a producer who originally hails from Managua, Nicaragua. What is evident in Jose Lau's debut release is the unique melding of traditional deep house elements with unassuming latin-funk percussion. Common throughout is his masterful use of Chicago-eque basslines and delicate pad movements alongside minor-key melodic underpinnings. The outcome is buffered by lo-fi harmonics and dub overtones. Late night introspective music to its core.
