Rising London-based talent Casey Spillman debuts on LOCUS with his latest four-track EP, ‘Bit More Raggo’.

A hotly-tipped name within the UK house and minimal scene, London’s Casey Spillman continues to impress as one of the city’s key emerging DJs, producers and label owners. Founder of his own blossoming imprint Temperature, his releases and remixes via the likes of e1ven records, Sukhumvit and Infuse have gained support from a long list of the scene’s key players - solidifying his growing profile as one of FUSE’s key up-and-coming talents, whilst featuring across a string of their infamous events within the UK capital. Next up, Spillman’s latest outing welcomes a debut on recently launched FUSE imprint LOCUS, delivering four typically impressive cuts in the form of his ‘Bit More Raggo’ EP.

Opening cut ‘What I Say’ delivers a moody, up-front production armed with metallic percussion licks, resonant chords and driving low-ends, whilst the skipping hats and sweeping key leads of the slick ‘Gambling Man’ reveal a classy yet warping journey to close out the A-side. On the flip, ‘Humidity Meter’ introduces a hypnotic combination of shuffling percussion atop of escalating electronics and squelching bass patterns, before closing proceedings via the tripped-out vocals, crisp, raw drum shots and menacing bassline of final track, ‘Commands’.

Birmingham's Jayson Wynters makes his second outing for Don't Be Afraid in under a year with four earth-shaking rollers from his Digbeth laboratory.

Across four tracks Wynters neatly surveys the state of the underground house and techno union in the UK and beyond, taking in the stepping, broken rhythms of Beta (Version), the dancefloor annihilation of One Hundred N Forty, and the frantic, Midwest rollage of Into The Void, before concluding on an optimistic note with The Kansei Method.

Also look out for Wynters' Café Artum project which launches in Birmingham soon, bringing a much needed hub for vinyl to the city thanks to last year's successful fundraiser.

New comers Laughing Man and Noah Skelton release their 'Element EP', on Silencio.
The first track, 'Element', is a collaboration between the two artists. This combined effort rumbles into the clearing, dragging the dance floor and its occupants along with it for a riveting ride throughout its duration. A beguiling bass line, complimented by underlying ethereal sounds, seamlessly contrasts and connects to form a compelling rhythm. Riddled with space age laser samples that periodically bubble to the surface, this track consistently pulls listeners in by pushing out good vibrations.
On Side B Laughing Man goes solo with the second track '1939'. This dynamic offering is a model of contemplative creation that basks in its own thought provoking ambience. A series of scintillating samples, echoing in waves of varying intensity, are served up with satisfying drums and a clever assortment of claps. This release has a way of finding your mind and marinating in the sub-conscious because it's just that deep.

Barcelona-based radio show / record label Canela en Surco is proud to present the first compilation of the best early works of Alex Martin, a local hero and pioneer of the electronic music scene in Barcelona and a key piece in the development of dance music during the early 90's.
Producing under different pseudonyms (Sideral, A3K, The Fat DB, as well as his own name, Alex Martin), he has released EPs on iconic labels such as F Communications, Klang Elektronik, Minifunk, Boozo Music, as well as his own imprint Higlamm Phonographics.

This double compilation aims to capture the wide range of styles Alex has produced: from ambient, downtempo, and IDM (Elipse, Mare Nostrum, Butterfly) to NYC and Detroit-influenced house music (I Wanna Look To The Stars, Incognita, Can Make It) to minimal techno and early tech house (Planetarium, Twirl, Firewall), Alex has navigated an immense variety of styles, consistently maintaining a highly personal sound of impressive quality for someone so far removed geographically from the main centers of creation at the time.

Album comes with a double-sided insert with a photo of young Alex himself and liner notes from the artist and label owners. All tracks are officially licensed from the artist and remastered from the original DAT tapes by Simon Davey at The Exchange (London).

Sometimes you need to step away from everything that's familiar to really grow and challenge yourself as an artist. Or in Anja Schneider's case, hit the reset button entirely. A new album. A new label. The Berlin-based artist has never felt more out of her comfort zone. Or inspired.

The musical manifestation of this bold new era is 'SoMe', a nine-track calling card that not only represents Schneider's own creative apex and the freedom that accompanies it, but the freewheeling nature of new imprint Sous on which it finds its home.

As is the case with all Schneider's productions, this is a deeply personal work. But what makes it shine above everything else that has come before it, is how expressive and free it is, while remaining entirely authentic to her own musical history, passions and personal story.

The project begun in November 2016, in Anja's basement to be precise. Getting back to her music digging roots she whiled away the hours among the dusty boxes of her vinyl collection - re-immersing herself in old jungle and D&B records, classic house and the Berlin-bred techno of the '90s that she fell in love with when she first moved to the German capital in 1993. If she was to look forward to her new musical vision, it had to pay due respect to her past.

Alongside her co-producer and partner Jan-Eric Scholz, set studio dates turned into lost afternoons, then weekends. If Anja wasn't touring or spending time with her son, she was engrossed in free-flowing productions sessions, channeling musical impressions past and present, recent trips to South Africa that cemented a love for ragga and crafting outstanding vocal works that rate among the finest of her career.

The album begins with the dusty panoramic tones of 'The Sun': 'I wanted this track to turn out like a big electronic band with attitude - but I failed,' she laughs. 'Instead it's more Chicago and Detroit, but I love it anyway!'. Other highlights include the catchy ragga tones of 'All I See', inspired by her trip to Cape Town for CTEMF in 2015 and exemplifies Schneider's knack for creating music that feels at once fresh yet familiar. 'Overall I'm really interested in these ragga vibes coming into house and techno - I love how these kids are combining their roots with electronic music.'.

Elsewhere she flexes her song-crafting muscle linking up with the Stereo MCs after a chance meeting with vocalist Rob Birch in the apartment of Terranova's Fetish, in a situation that could have only happened in Berlin. A big fan of the group's 'Connected' LP, the normally shy Schneider floated the idea of a vocal contribution to her fledgling album project and the irresistible earworm 'Sanctuary' was born.

A raver first and foremost, long nights at influential Berlin clubbing institution WMF characterized the late 90s for Schneider, of particular impression the Friday night D&B residency at the club. With a deep love for this sound till this day, she eponymous track pays dues to this heady period.

An artist with tried and true roots in techno, 'SoMe' of course reflects an Anja Schneider DJ experience, with cuts such as 'Got Me With A Bang' and even 'Night Out', that mines the spirit of her own debut album 'Beyond The Valley': 'I'm still getting requests for tracks from that album almost 10 years later, so wanted to put something on there that pays homage to this period as I still love this Berlin techno sound and I wanted something on the album that connects with it.

Rounding out the album on a particularly personal note comes 'Shadows', Schneider smiles as she speaks about it. 'I originally wanted to do an ambient track and I wanted to sing on it, but thankfully I have the right people around me telling me that's not a good idea, she shares with a laugh. 'In the end it came out a lot more spacey and features the vocals of my boyfriend. I think he may have a new career ahead of him!' she chuckles.

Collabs between Dominik Marz and Yannick Labbé have been dropping regularly since months now. The guys’ associative approach to techno is a quirky mix of grit and grace that aims for greatness. Their new release on Feines Tier is no exception: the three tracks are an invitation to lose oneself in textures, sounds, melodies – all wrapped up in loop-based arrangements. As a bonus, DC Salas delivers a remix that injects a proper dose of techno and turns the track „meaning“ into a peaktime rocker that, well, how should we put it… bangs. A lot. Try it out on your COVID home-dancefloor!

It's quite funny that it took 11 years for us over at Metroline Limited to release an EP with tracks from different artists (at least on vinyl that is) but hey, good things go to those of wait so the wait is finally over! For our first Positive Contribution we gathered Metroline Limited friends and label owners and put together a tasty four tracker that focusses on the deep and minimalistic end of house music. Hamid went a long way since his debut EP on Metroline in 2010. The Berlin based French producer has since released on influential labels such as his own H+, Nervmusic, Minibar as well as becoming a regular figure in clubs all around Europe. His track Unterdrücken starts off the EP in style with his bleeps, squelchy acid b-line, pads and crisp drums. Octad takes control and the second half of the A side and it's yet another display of his amazing production skills. The man behind the mastering of each single Metroline release to date knows very well how to get the best sound out of his tracks! And what a bassline he's come up with for Checkmated! Dhaze and Phiorio have been collaborating for a while swapping remixes and musical ideas. NT is one the finest results from these music exchanges. Deep and rolling, the track has a monster groove, lush pads and dubbed out elements. Last but not least we have another long time friend of the label, Gabriele Mancino. His Cheddar, Lion and Lamb pays tribute both to a London trip and old Perlon releases when groovy and reduced house music was gracing most of the records on the pioneering house label. An ultra-groovy and playful minimal house number with funk and style!

From the upcoming Paul Kalkbrenner Remix album which will be out in May 2014 we get another teaser with the Pig&Dan Remix of - Böxig leise'. The original version which can be found on the 2011 Gold Album - Icke Wieder' is a huge highlight within Paul Kalkbrenner's Live Show. Pig&Dan continue their success story by releasing exzellent tracks and remixes on SOMA, Coocoon or Terminam M with this Big Room Remix. Pig&Dan who dominated Beatport Top 10 in 2013 give - Böxig leise' a big a Techno rework and transfer the delicate original Track into a premium Club Smasher including a hug breakdown which features the legendary original hookline.

The original Adventures in Techno Soul compilation was released back in 1996 with remixes of Ferox tracks from the likes of Derrick Carter, Carl Craig and Kenny Dixon Jr. A full 16 year's after its follow up "Further Adventures in Techno Soul" comes this 8 track album of new and unreleased material on double vinyl from 8 different and exciting artists. Ferox is proud to welcome established and respected producers such as Fred P and Germany's Move D to the roster, as well as a welcome return from Affie Yusuf, Nebraska and Bush Funk (Steve O'Sullivan and Winlord X) who were last seen on Soma Records back in 1996. The label is also proud to introduce two new artists, Darren Harris and Spain's Hoax Believers who alongside label boss Russ Gabriel round off this package of soulful electronica. This album is not available as a digital release.

The third release from the Berlin based label "Kamai Music" comes from Elfenberg. Their percussive and minimalistic sound brought them a lot of international attention in 2018. - Cuzco'is their long awaited debut release on vinyl. For this special occasion, the Swedish uprising duo selected three of their most precious original compositions. It's certainly no coincidence that they've chosen - Cuzco', the old capital of the Incan Empire, as the title-track for their EP: strong, unexpected, vigorous, pulsing and adventurous. - Patasola' (A2) is a sort of Latin American version of the mermaids from Ulysses Odyssey and is probably the most evoking track from the EP. The B-side opens up with the drum-driven OAS' (B1) followed by an exciting - Cuzco' remix from the German producer Jacob Groening (B2).

Part inspired by the prose of his favourite author James Baldwin, South Brooklyn's Korre 's experience of being a black man in America forms an integral part of his work, even if it's largely instrumental. "I always make sure my music has elements of pain, beauty, and darkness," says Korre in his bio. That vibe is certainly felt across his stunning debut EP for Utrecht's 030303 Records. 'End of Time' is a deep, dystopian piece of club music, as much suited for the floor as it is for the introverted mind. With virtually no intro, the listener gets sucked into the intenseness of the track right away. 'Crimson' is equally dark, filled with spooky vocal snippets and washed out acid sounds. 'Don't Wanna Wait' is a heartfelt ambient spacer, not unlike the eeriest work of Burial. 'Silver Exo' then is probably the best track on the record even if it's hard to pick a favourite. Korr? slowly brings the dancefloor back with this beautifully crafted builder, again filled with abstract vocal snippets. Closing this beast of a debut record is 'St Blues', consisting of a male monologue, captivating droney melodies and acid bubbles in the background. It's the conclusion of the first chapter by this artist we will no doubt hear more of in the future.

Sabb is back on Noir Music with an ethnic tech house tune destined to cause some serious heat over the rest of the summer season 2013.This might be his best effort to date. We'll let you be the judge of that.Here's "illusiones".

New imprint Future Tones Records delivers its first EP offering with the first debut release from Berlin based artist TXL.

The A-side of the four-track EP starts with Lucho's Simphony an effective dancefloor track with a fat bassline and the second A2 with a dark break sounds.

The B-side follows up with another dance floor track with acid sounds, and the B2 last track it´s our favourite, a lovely downtempo track called Kibortacord.

After 2 years from the release of III', Dusty Kid is back with the new album that astonishes the audience once more for the change of direction.

Every album by Dusty Kid is a journey and Not So Green Fields' is, beyond doubt, his most magical, real, human and mature one. Yes, Dusty Kid has grown up but still able to surprise, reinvent himself and move the hearts of his audience. This journey is in fact surprising for the production and continuity of the tracks that, though extremely different from one another, share the same common denominator: the heart. He claims he has poured it completely this time, and one can hear it. One of the reasons being that, for this record, he has found his muse in his beloved island, Sardegna. And this, one can hear it too! The record is incredibly colorful, every track is a small universe on its own that enters your heart sometimes forcefully sometimes sweetly, but that always hits the spot. This is a work that is a true movie where all of the tracks live organically with one another to create a fantastical, touristic, romance-like and moving plot.

Dusty Kid steps away from the modern techno trends and does it with mastery and confidence touching territories that are very diverse but still very cohesive in a album that could surely be a classic movie, powerful enough to make the listeners smile, cry or (to mention the words from Durke') to leave an indelible souvenir.

Spread across 3 tracks, 'Trust First' has been in fruition over the past year and is the biggest project of MJOG's career to date. Produced to display his confidence and friendship for the label, the EP embodies the artist's depth of knowledge and showcases his diversity as a producer by drawing from different influences.

Side A takes off with the title track, a straight up minimal club banger infused with chunky percussions, ethereal pads and vocal clips overflowing with warmth and emotion.

TONE SERIES (TS) is glad to introduce to you to its second release TSRS02. In 2016, we launched TONE SERIES. So far, we've have released five EPs (consisting of two tracks each) all composed by French musician David K.

Midway between the first release TS10 and the last one TS01 (TS06 came out at the beginning of September 2017), we thought it would be interesting to ask artists we like to reinterpret one of David K's creations. As a result, we're delighted to present you TSRS02, 2nd EP of the TONE SERIES Remix Series, 2nd EP of the TONE SERIES Remix Series ... consisting of :

TONE SERIES is an ephemeral French music label dedicated to deep-house music. The project is originally inspired by David K and the different colours that emerge from his music. The name 'TONE SERIES' brings together the idea of interdependence between music and design: what colour follows on from music and, in return, which musicality comes out of a colour.

After a slightly longer than planned gap since the last release, 3am is back on wax a little after its 16th birthday in June, with its final in the series of Various Artists EPs (maybe?), before moving to focus on artist-only releases. On the 91st release for the label, we welcome a couple of new additions to the roster, alongside established artists from the label's 16-year history.

Opening up the A-side is V.I.C.A.R.I, also known as Tommy Vicari Jnr; anyone buying and supporting vinyl will be fully versed in the work of V.I.C.A.R.I - the beauty is that you never really know what you might get, as releases across a multitude of high-profile vinyl labels have shown over the last few years. Here we get a dubbed and filtered warm roller, peaks and troughs flowing through the track as it develops. We've been huge fans of Tommy here at 3am for some time, so it's a pleasure to get him onboard.

Heading back to 3am is Fletcher (aka RJ Fletcher from back in 2011) whose recent solo work on Tactics has been receiving rave reviews, alongside cohort Alex Brown in their guise Adventures In Daydreams. The guys are split between Berlin and Manchester, so their In The City track fuses the influences of both; synth-led vibes with a minimal hint, but with a warmth running through the track which echoes the Northern deep house of the 90s & 00s. No wonder their last release was via the mighty 2020 Vision...

3am's boss-man Al Bradley teams up with long-time collaborator Carlo Gambino for a very special track on the label; A Nod To Roberto is a dubby cut in honour of Roberto Gambino, Carlo's Father who sadly passed away recently. It was his influence working with artists such as The Specials & Prince which led Carlo into the world of music. Here Al & Carlo head for a dubby cut with deep horns, and a little nod to Two Tone Records; a tip of the cap to Roberto, as the title explains. It's a real pleasure to bring this out via 3am, as Carlo has always been an integral part of the 3am family.

Finally we go into leftfield territory; originally out digitally via Manuscript a little while ago, Alixander III and his trippy freaky The Ritz has been a firm favourite in sets that 3am boss Al has played ever since release, and always felt that it would sound amazing on wax. So with big thanks to Vincent Inc at Manuscript, the wish has come true. A genuinely mad bleepy, freaky & trippy outing, which has a sparse drum pattern & no heavy kick, this is one for creating a bridge between vibes. Or you can just play it & watch people go mental, it's up to you! Your ordinary house track, this is not.

Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return for their second appearance as SRVD with two cuts entitled ‘RAW FILES’.

Not confined to a single art form, Patrick Mason is a young creative at the forefront of Berlin’s art, fashion, dance music and LGBT scene; an influential club kid who developed a friendship with Matt Edwards after a chance meeting in Panorama Bar, resulting in numerous studio sessions and improvised live sets.
Joining forces in 2018, the pair adopted their SRVD moniker – an alias inspired by New York’s vogue scene – before dropping their debut release on Rekids, playing at various clubs (notably Panorama Bar), not to mention an unforgettable performance at Boiler Room x Pornceptual.

‘The Yard Man’ presents rattling drums, piercing vocal chants and a tormenting melody that SRVD has been destroying dancefloors with over the last year. On the flip, ‘Brotha’ presents a compelling groove as a shuffling rhythm joins abrasive synths and Mason’s penetrating voice.
