House Vinyl New Releases - News

Want to feel good this summer Bring a beach blanket and pitcher of margaritas to the nearest oceanfront with a loved one. Want to feel better Bring along this copy of the latest installment of A Long Hot Summer mixed this time by the one & only DJ Meme. Ex-Editor in Chief of M8 Mag UK, Kevin McFarlane said it most relevantly, "Think summertime partying, Think DJ Meme." He couldn't be more on point. Third in line to compile this new series, Meme follows 2 other renowned producer/djs, Kiko Navarro, and Chris Brann. Its really an honor to have Meme mix this current summer comp, as an established multi-gold, platinum, and diamond-selliing artist, he is the latest to join the Def Mix family roster. Meme has also been credited for remixing Shakira, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Ricky Martin, Dido, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton, among others. Hailing from tropical Brazil, it's apparent that his sweet, feel-good, melodic, and pure rhythmic sensibility had been instilled in him since birth. From the very first natural beat of his brand new remix of Namy ft Stephanie Cooke's "I'm Not Ashamed (I Need You)" blending seamlessly into Ananda Project feat. Heather Johnson & Terrance Downs "Kiss Kiss Kiss" (Eric Kupper Mix), into Tiger Stripes feat. Hanna Hais "Consecration" (Tiger Stripes Dub), and then on to include songs like Studio Apartment feat. Blaze's "The Rising Sun" (Muthafunkaz Sun Rising), Jay-J ft Big Brooklyn Red "Decide" (DJ Meme Drama mix), Kerri Chandler's "So Let the Wind Come," Stephanie Cooke "Rain" (Let it all come) (Dennis Ferrer Rainforest Mix), Ferrer's "Destination" and others, he brings us to the brink of glorious dance floor enlightenment. He serves up deep, pumping, house and a few Latin house grooves that, not only showcase his superb mixing skills but exceptional programming of dubs and remixes that instantly tap into ur feel good nerve center. Take a ride on Meme's musical mindset. It'll be worth the trip.

Titans Halo Records presents Alpha Beta Gamma Remixes, an e.p that includes two reworks of the labels third reference by duo Brain Machine made by Irish producer Boxcutter and the Bulgarian beatmakers 1000 Names.

ESCORT is definitely not your typical band. Escort is big. Literally. The seventeen-member "disco orchestra", founded by producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis, and fronted by lead singer Adeline Michèle, features an incredible cast of musicians who have played with everyone from indie-rock titans Arcade Fire to avant-classical luminaries Alarm Will Sound.

No Static Recordings is excited to announce a ten track album of remixes of classic Escort tracks, by some of the Disco and House scenes key players including Greg Wilson, Ewan Pearson, Max Essa, Leftside Wobble, Proper Heat, Venice Beach, Jkriv, Black Russian and Sub Swara. Available on CD and digitally at all good music stores this Summer.

Escort burst on to the scene in 2006 with a string of critically acclaimed 12"s that included future classics "Starlight" and "All Through The Night", both DJ staples that get still get plenty of play on dancefloors. As DJs nursed their electro-clash hangover with a seemingly never ending stream of disco edits, Escort stood out, in part, by creating dance music the old fashioned way: with impeccable production, musicianship, and song-writing. The following several years saw them bring the same uncompromising approach to their live show. In an era where dance music is dominated by samples and computers, Escort took a sprawling ensemble to the stage and developed a reputation as one of New York's most compelling live acts, capable of performing their elaborate recordings note for note.

Following on from the success of Artifacts The Way It Do/We Trapped, the
somethinksounds cartel rolls on picking up even more steam this time calling on the
untapped talents of Lokiboi who serve up the insatiable Late Reaction EP which features
a collaboration with Love Fever darling Citizen. Having appeared previously on Kolour
Recordings as Klic (aka Medlar) & Lokiboi, this is his first solo appearance and his first
opportunity to demonstrate his unbelievable studio skills.
Up first Late Reaction rattles into our consciousness; constantly shifting this one never
lets up for moment and expert drum programming techniques ensure it has total control
over the listeners emotions throughout.
Intensity levels drop for the intro of Help Yourself as slower kick drums pulsate and
shuffling percussion rolls along as though it is being heard from the room next door.
Atmospheric pads path the way for incredible smooth garage beats to roll along with
snapping snares and chopped vocals giving the track direction.
Love Saves The Day invites man of the moment Citizen to get in on the action instantly
bringing his brand of reverbed, garage-house soundscapes which is much complemented
by the percussive arrangements of Lokiboi. Excellent vocals and soaring pads take the
whole thing to a match made in dancefloor paradise.
Rounding off this superb release we have Keep On Loving Me Dry which builds and
builds to a dramatic climax before descending into possibly the biggest breakdown on the
EP.
All Killers, No Fillers.

Laid-back but steady grooving funkiness, with nocturnal counterparts delivered by Kyodai and Opolopo.
After his acclaimed split single with KINK on Hamburg's Liebe Detail, Barcelona-based Pablo Sánchez lifts his foot off the pedal and shifts to cruising mode with the laid-back but steady grooving 'Out And About'. A funky rhythm section switching between shuffle and go-go, wah-wah guitars, a pinch of brass, nuff percussion, and fellow producer Ezel on the organ. Can you say 'summertime'
Killer remix action on this one: Berlin-based brothers Kyodai provide some delicious peak-time fun adding vocal snippets, a prominent piano, a rather impatient 4/4 beat and a people-go-crazy-on-the-dance-floor style long drum break. Swedish boy wonder Opolopo steps up the pace as well with a funked-up and slightly spacey house rework (nod to Parliament Funkadelic included).

Lazare Hoche Records Paris is back with 400 copies of solid black vinyl
with 4 straight up grooves on it. House cuts w/ slight jazz flavour and
percussive work-outs.

Producer/multi-instrumentalist Stefan "Merse" Ulrich and singer/songwriter Neve aka Alexa Voss are Neve Naive. And with "The Inner Peace Of Cat And Bird" they just released on Sonar Kollektiv one of the most astonishing debut albums of the year.
The first single off the album, 'Dancer', is now being released with three remixes - each of them as particular as inspiring. On the A side you get the one by Superluminal. After the three guys from Warsaw, Fabian, Greg and Cbass, have provided their typical funky sound to the remix of Jazzanova's 'I Human' last year, they were eventually first choice for a rework of 'Dancer'. The track now even more makes you get a move on and grooves thanks to a fresh rhythm guitar and added percussion right across the dance floor with a big feisty grin.
Paskal & Urban Absolutes also want to squeeze the funk out of the track. As you know funk appears in different shapes and forms though. The one by the remixing duo of the hour comes in much more sec and impulsive. The arrangement has been totally disposed as well - everything pointing towards 5 o'clock in the morning, the time when sweat and tears of joy start to blend.
The third remixer isn't a new name in Sonar Kollektiv's stable as well. Moscow based Phil Gerus belongs, next to Paskal & Urban Absolutes, to the uprising shooting stars of the label. He owes less to the dance floor than to the things that happen afterwards, after a long night out. His remix of 'Dancer' displays again impressively why he is one of the leading spearheads of chillwave.
The original is put through the mill so drastically that in the end only the essence of it is left over. And in a medicative way or so this just feels so damn good.

First Vinylrelease on Midi Mood comes with an three tracker from andy pj. the italien producer gives us finest techhouse tunes!! onesided limted release!

Sunkissed Recordings' latest offering features four Balearic gems from the incredible Grace Jones. One of the faces of the original Ibiza party scene, Grace spent many a debauched night partying hard on the island and her music was as influential on the original Balearic scene as it was in the New York disco underground. First up is the amazing Tom Moulton 12' version of 'La Vie En Rose' - a slo-mo sensual disco masterpiece that became an anthem at Ibiza's Amnesia. Next up is the extended 12' version of 'Feel Up' with a fantastic groove that filled floors from the Paradise Garage to Pacha. On the B side, we get 'Nipple To The Bottle' another stunning Sly & Robbie production that found favour on the Balearic dancefloors and last but not least the extended Larry Levan mix of the party classic 'Pull Up To The Bumper'. You need this!

Winning critical acclaim alongside rapturous responses from live crowds, Rudimental are a collective with strong musical heart (in the shape of Piers Aggett, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and Leon Rolle) who, like Soul II Soul, Massive Attack or Basement Jaxx before have come together to strike musical gold with a unique identity: sound- clashing live instruments, beats and soulful voices. Rudimental release their debut album Home , through Asylum Records on April 29th. . It follows the blaze lit by previous singles - the chart-topping 'Feel The Love', 'Not Giving In', with its empowering message for hard times, and the bittersweet street record 'Hell Could Freeze' - with New York rapper Angel Haze. The new song brings the summer festival season fast forward a few months - with a huge sing-along chorus seamlessly on top of a rolling D&B beat and the band's signature brass and Hammond organ.
The band will also take their carnival-esque live show - complete with extended Rudimental family of players and vocalists - on the road this April with a UK headline tour supporting the release of their debut album. Their tour kicks off in Glasgow on April 23. They will also play Liverpool, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford and Norwich, taking in London's Electric in Brixton on May 2. The headline tour follows their slot supporting label-mate Plan B on his sell out arena tour, and Australia's Future Music tour (alongside Stone Roses & Prodigy), and a US tour taking in SXSW and a main-stage slot at Miami's Ultra Festival.
With a melting pot of influences stamped firmly across the brilliant and adventurous forthcoming album - soulful songs, live instrumentation and massive club tunes - the tour will showcase a wealth of new material and deliver the hits, including one of 2012's biggest hits - the Brit Nominated 'Feel The Love.'

After almost three years without a release, Velour, aka Julio Bashmore and Hyetal, make a welcome return and offer us a great ride with their brand new track 'Speedway', their first since the duo's 2010 EP for Night Slugs, The Velvet Collection
On Christmas day, Velour debuted their brilliant new single 'Speedway', the duo are now delighted to reveal Speedway's galactic B-side 'Dial' which can be heard here: The single is released on 4th March 2013 via Julio Bashmore's own Broadwalk Records label.

freshly repressed !!!
Berlins notorious Bar 25 might have closed down for this summer, but this fresh new output by Stil vor Talents new wunderkind David August will keep everyone grooving to the swing-orientated techno that has made this place so special.

I had dinner with Breach in London and he told me "Hey, I have a track that is really dirtybird. I would put it out but its really sounding
right for you guys". I took this with a grain of salt but then I heard "Let's Get Hot" and I found out he was right. It's got the swagger
and the sound. It makes girls grind their asses into boys crotches on the dancefloor. Perfect. Signed. So I then asked him to make
something even more sexual, thinking it would be ages before I got something back. 10 days later the A-side came back to me as a 2
minute clip while I was on the train to warehouse project in Manchester. I liked it so much that I edited it on the train to stretch it out
to 5 minute. As expected, it slayed the room and the final version Breach has delivered is one of the best records of the year in my
opinion. With the simple title of "Jack" you can see for yourself when you play it. This is the real deal. Love, VonStroke

t's been a long time coming for Goodwill Gumede. The South African singer and musician has been working on his material for over six years under the enigmatic moniker EnaWadan before finally exhibiting his productions to a worldwide audience (thanks to Sonar Kollektiv's signing). The spirituality of his alias (which means literally translated "I
am everything in anything") can also be heard in his creative output. His African background and heritage looms very large in his approach to produce contemporary dance music. But don't try to limit him to his sophisticated rhythm structures.

Very rare and in demand mix of this 1982 track mixed by Francois Kevorkian and Hubert Eaves III

Second out on Jean Claude Gavri's Coco Bin Wax imprint sees him deliver two superb retouches of a certain classic record from the Eighties .

The original artist has been rather popular over the years, a hero to many, known for floating in tin cans, sporting screwed up eyes and a screwed down haircut, a man who has fallen towards his home planet and questioned life on others.

Needless to say JC has taken the finest elements of the track and reworked them to bring joy to any serious dancefloor, moonlit or otherwise. Funky tribal percussion, dramatic synths and echos add depth and modernity to the sound and vision of the original and of course that all-important instantly recognisable bass stab is stronger than ever. Flip for a stripped up, not down, dub and the result is a superb record that will be played far more than just for one day.

Da Soul Revival Classics Vol 1 presents two gems from the Tyree Cooper canon and ensures the newly established Chicago Vinyl Records operation launches in fine style. Brandishing one of house music's most distinctive voices as well as an enviable discography and endlessly energetic style, Cooper's contribution to Chicago House cannot be disputed. The label delve into Cooper's Dancemania contributions on the A Side, plucking out the B Side bump of "Kan I Get High" which originally saw release on his 1997 Future Recooped 12" for the iconic imprint. Flip over and Cooper's dedication to all the stars of Chicago "Tyz 'N' Da Middle" gets a much needed airing having first appeared back in 1995 on Quick Release Records.

Paradise Club Recordings are due to serve up another eclectic EP later this month - their first selection of what they have in store for
2013 - and it's one that furthers the label's trend of showcasing the many different styles at their disposal from their current roster.
Label stalwart Jabru kicks things off with 'Last Days of Rome', an aptly-titled cut that begins by traipsing through ambient swells and
looms, only to then brew up a truly decadent, central dancehall rhythm. The so-real-you-can-taste-it narrative of featured vocalist and
LV collaborator Joshua Idehen also lends the lyrical side a distinct sense of tangibility that serves to genuinely build upon the track's
woozy atmosphere more and more as the story progresses. Bristol's Hodge is on hand for the remix, and whilst his take is
deceptively similar initially, Jabru's tune is given a much more bass-inclined edge once it drops and it makes for a heart racing affair
by all accounts.
The EP takes a house-driven swerve with the final two tracks - Blacksmif's 'Gavelock' has lasers sniping constantly from one end of
the track to the other, allowing for its gloriously infectious groove to carve its way nice 'n easy straight down the middle. Equipped
with 'Solace State' (a joint effort courtesy of PCR up-and-comers Juno Sutton & MTD) and its jumping melody that blossoms with a
truly sublime vocal break, both tunes utilise many of the tropes associated with the modern house of the moment, and it's safe to say
with the dance world's current fascination on the slightly weirder side of the subgenre at full capacity, finishing the EP off with this
one-two punch was most definitely a damn good idea.

Venezuelan-born Miguel Toro is an impulse generator: a versatile drummer and percussionist. Rhythm is his motor, but rhythm here does not just denote a motion within a certain beat. Rather it means a fundamental, ever changing pulse, vibration, resonance. Inspired by aesthetic forms as intense and diverse as the jungle of sounds ascending from his royal dust, Miguel Toro succeeds in giving them an extraordinary voice. Imagine a mixed chorus of Tom Waits, Morphine, Talk Talk, Stan Getz, bass sax player Colin Stetson, Canonball Adderley, Mulatu Astatke and a bit of Emil Richards in a Film Noir setting in the desert under the stars: It's the spirit of their collective poetry that soars up.
A sound designer for famous artists and institutions like Olafur Eliasson and the Bauhaus Dessau, a remixer for Tony Allen's Afrobeatmakers, and a collaborator with exceptional artists like epic chanteuse Aerea Negrot and Mambolectro project Mambotur, Miguel Toro accumulates a lot of experience and expertise. In a most sophisticated way, the result of his work marks the birth of a vibrant musical lifeform that exists in Selva Swing time. "Royal Dust" is a concept: utilizing one single microphone, one computer and several apartment rooms for a most unique and efficient recording process. It is a creation that transfuses an abundance of colour and soul to the amalgamation of Jazz, Lounge and Electronics, soaked with inspiration.

Big package by the fantabulous THE BAS LEXTER ENSAMPLE on this 8-tracker EP !

Ruben Alvarez is one of the most sought-after names on the international house scene. 2008 and 2009was a whirlwind of success for Ruben thanks to his productions and remixes for leading labels such as Milk & Sugar or Urbana Recordings, reaching the highest positions on Beatport or Traxsource download charts (his production The Rhythm of Life , a track Ruben put together with his studio partner Rober Gaez for Urbana Recordings, )
At the same time Ruben Was nominated to the Deejay Magazine prizes on 2009,as the best upcoming producer and best remix.

Future-thinking, soulful house & jazz from Japan & PGH to play in DJ sets, or mack-out by the fireplace. Hand-numbered, multiple-color, individually-unique, hand-stenciled jackets.

Reissue of this superb and mega rare 1984 12' from one-hit German beauties Saada Bonaire. Hugely in-demand by those in the know (with prices to match), this quirky trio of tracks was lifted out of obscurity by massive support from Cosmic DJs such as Baldelli and Beppe Loda and drifted around the Mediterranean becoming big on the Balearic scene too. Title track 'You Could Be More As You Are' kills the dancefloor every time with an icy vocal delivery underpinned by chunky synths, wild steel guitar and wonky sitar riffs driven by a great fat b-line as you'd expect from UK reggae star Dennis Bovell who produced all tracks on this 12. Over on side 2 we have 'Invitation', a superb grooving cut with a dark squelching bass hook and smoothly sexy vocals and last up is a weird and wonderful spaced-out dubbed-out version of the JJ Cale classic - 'Funky Way'. Don't miss!

Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is happy to welcome back Morlack, with his very first solo 12' vinyl, with 4 hot jams straights from the funky sequences of Morlack studios.

Morlack has been around for only 2 years in the funky breaks scene, but he has released more music than most other ghetto funk producers on various labels like Boogie Boutique (UK), Tru Funk (PO), Baffin Beat Brigade (US) as well as 3 digital EPs here on BBP. Morlack has a unique style and he is known and loved for his crooked samples and always spot-on ghetto funk productions and this EP shows the cream of the crop of the of the Morlack style.

Morlack is topping the digital breakbeat charts at the moment with his second full-length album For the Brothers in the Ghetto and the tracks on this EP is already getting support from international producers and DJs like BadboE (DK) and Stickybuds (US).

Rush Inside (witch is in same time sounds like Russian Side) - its a compilation of deep, funky, groovy , new disco sounds by unknowns underground producers from Moscow and St. Petersburg. The first step in attempt to present a part of
contemporary russian electronic scene .

Several years after his successful debut album - Keep It Raw,' Dusty hits home with this ecelectic 4 track EP which represents a foretaste of his second album - Mood Matters'. The Jazz&Milk label founder consistantly straddles the line between tradition and modernity and proves that an album need not simply commit itself to a genre or two; and in the process ups the ante considerably by featuring a broad spectrum of musical styles, bringing together Dusty's favourite leanings such as Jazz, Funk, Soul, Afrobeat, Latin, percussive Beats and Deep House rhythms, while seeking a natural balance between accoustic, electronic and traditional sounds through the prism of a club-music oriented approach.

This fusion is brilliantly demonstrated on the title track - Mood Matters' which meshes forward-driven house beats with organic instrumentation - a big Jazz banger for the dancefloor! - Danse Macabre' features Dusty's live band project - Bad Jazz Troupe' taking you on a wild trip between massive horn sections, heavy beats and deep basslines. On the B-side you'll find the strong Afro-Funk piece - Seventy Three' with its sweeping horns, charming Afrobeat guitars and mighty drumbeats and let's not forget the soulful beauty of - Longing Lingers', featuring the heavenly voice of Carla Vallet ,as well as one of Munich's most talented producers, Bartellow.
Catch the video for the title track - Mood Matters'. Paper drum- and tape machines are brought to life through elaborately generated stop-motion sequences which can also be found on the cover artwork - handmade and directed by the artist himself.

San Francisco label Public Release Recordings steps boldly into 2013 with a new single from Woolfy (a.k.a. Simon James). "Junior's Throwin Craze" is a slinky ode to the kind of red-eyed madness symptomatic of round-the-clock hardcore partying. That is to say, it's another late-night anthem rooted in the playful sound of West Coast sleaze.

"Haven't slept for days!" shouts James to kick off the a-side original. Cruising erratically, like a luxury yacht commandeered by a bacchanal, it quickly establishes an exuberant good-time energy by weaving jittering Clavinets and burned-out guitars over a elastic Loose Joints-style rhythm. The bender keeps going and he's soon joined by a battery of echoing disco toms that fly through like vaporous sonic hallucinations. By the time the party starts chanting "Everybody get a little," it's clear that truer words have never been spoken.

Next up we find Eric Duncan's "Dr Dunks Bar Club Dub," the first of three remixes. Here the New Yorker accentuates the track's natural trippiness by extending it into a seven-minute journey through thick washes of reverb and old-school Jamaican delay. Fellow Big Apple-resident Jacques Renault compliments the more disco-forward tendencies of the two a-side versions with a b-side take that injects the cut with the unmistakable stutter of early-'90s garage. Staying true to the ethos expressed by his label Let's Play House, he throws in heavily swung snares, snappy hi-hats, and a jacking bassline to lend the EP some serious peak-time muscle.

This uptempo energy reaches its apex with the record's final mix by Being Borings, the Japanese duo of Tomoki Kanda and Crue-L Records label head Kenji Takimi. Under their direction the song is pushed towards the beautiful excesses of late-'70s hi-nrg via gargantuan orchestral flourishes and a galloping bassline that might as well be straight from the annals of Casablanca Records. Like the release it springs from, it's an enabling whole-hearted embrace of the trials and pleasures that come with the 24 hour party lifestyle.

Just when you thought we run out of them, we're proud to introduce the next wunderkind of the Berlin techno-/house scene: Hannes Fischer was born in Thüringen, raised in Baden-Württemberg and finally moved to the capitol of club culture. Here he caught attention in no time with unofficial remixes for Adele, Bon Iver and Lana Del Rey. His remix of "Down On Your Own" by Dems sports now more than half a milion views on Youtube. It didn't take long therefore until an official remix request for Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" dropped in. As much fun as it is for Fischer to do reworks of existing tracks, as eager one now awaits his own original material. And you can be assured: he has accumulated quite a lot.His 12inch for the "Based On Misunderstanding" series on Sonar Kollektiv is a stroke of genius in every sense. With "Deep Field" he connects the dots between deepest house and ethereous space boogie somewhere along the reference points of John Daly and Space Dimension Controller. Its electrifying bass line and a Balearic guitar break make "Mystic Mountain" catch the spirit of the times right on. With all the ideas stuck in this single track others would have filled a whole album.
Obviously Fischer will be flooded with remix inquires over the next few months. Which will hopefully still leave him with enough time to start working on his debut album. Who doesn't want more of this!

finally repressed!
