Yellorange must be considered one of the most prolific house music labels in history. Founded in 1998 by the legendary Tony Humphries, the label closed its doors after a short run only in 2003 when Strictly Rhythm (who handled its distribution) collapsed. In those few years, the label put out nothing but quality music, with many -if not all - of these releases being considered a classic nowadays - just think of "Rescue Me" by Sunkids, "Freedom" by Midnight Express featuring Sabrina Johnston, "In my Arms" by DJ Pope & Una, "It's Alright" by 8B or "Ups & downs" by Kimiesha Holmes to name only a few.

Kasper Bjørke is the Danish multi-talent whose second album 'Standing On Top of Utopia' was recently released on hfn music to much international applause. Em Vee's on-point Lumberjacks In Hell imprint reaches its fifth release with another three disco edits par excellence. This time around, it's the turn of Germany's Frico and British edit specialist Mannmademusic to supply the goods. Frico dominates the A-Side with his fast-moving edit of Coffee's "Casanova", teasing out its vocal hook with an extended piano build-up. On the B-Side Manmademusic offers two cuts; first up is "Circles", a guitar led stomper with loose percussion, which serves as the perfect contrast to the slow moving, symphonic disco strings and syrupy vocals of "Easy Lover". Another winner for what is surely one of the more discerning disco labels out there.

Brighton's JFB is a scratch DJ and party starter extraordinaire who won the UK DMC Championship in 2007 and 2011. Space Ranger is back on patrol. Moving house and a peaktime affair plus a couple of remixes coming from Moscow and Barcelona. This is a hell of a 12'!

Second release on the wonderful 'Supafrico Records' digs up and dusts off four more mega-rare nuggets of superb Afro funk. First up is the excellent Afro Disco groove of Kabbala's 'Ashewo Ara', a lost gem originally released back in '82 on tiny UK independent Red Flame and now featuring highly on many collectors' wants lists. Next is Buari's 'I'm Ready', a chunk of pure dancefloor dynamite with a driving disco groove and great funky synths, taken from the Ghanian singer and percussionist's awesome 1979 'Disco Soccer' LP. On the flip we get the mega-rare and totally essential 'Body & Soul', a magnificent 10 minute mid-tempo Afro workout recorded in 1980 by Nigerian funkster William Onyeabor. Last up is a great extended edit of the Ashantis' brilliant funky bubbler 'Everybody's Groove' with its floor-filling groove and wicked vocals. These lovingly remastered rarities sound better than ever making this EP a must for anyone with a taste for those incredible funky Afro grooves.

More Berlin, less Monacco. That's the ethos of the new Max Essa project, Jan Ken Po: Less sun, less sea, yachts and money; more twilight hour, basement clubs, up-tempo rhythms and dance floor politics.

Ditongo is Batongo's alias for disco editing, less obscure, more groovy.
Not much is to be known about Batongo, previously an active euro dance producer who released a bunch of hits in the nineties. 10 years ago, after a traumatic experience he escaped in Perù and retired from the music business, during this years, on his spare time he made a lot of music, not meant for the public, just for himself. Now he is still in Perù, not willing to move back to Europe but barely broke, he sold us the rights on his entire collection of unreleased recordings with condition of not revealing his real identity.
We will unveil a series of EPs ranging from obscure deep to psychedelic disco.

DISCO PARADISE FROM REBIRTH

Kiwi producer Raw Sugar returns to the Gazeebo imprint with the Disco Land EP, following his debut Women Of The Ghetto 12" from earlier this year. The title track is sprawled across the A-Side, with the most languid of tempos allowing all manner of bells and effects to swirl in and around the lolloping beats in a hazy fashion. The end result is damn near hypnotizing. This shares a side of wax with the decidedly more uptempo "I Wanna Give You My Love", which boasts some burning late night chord stabs, cleverly arranged vocal grunts and a slinky bass line. Flip over for a chunky remix from Mr Gazeebo himself, who turns "Disco Land" into a near nine minute funk-fuelled odyssey!

Very strong release with the boogie / slomo-house groover 'Hope' and the irresistable hook and dub/disco feel of the more uptempo 'No Delay'. Excellent production, this will stir up things for sure.

For his discographic debut Degustibus has chooses to release Gin Sonic, a tune made by Rubini, an italian artist workin and livin between Venice and Berlin.
Gin Sonic is a classy old-school track, made in Berlin but dreamed in a synthy-outerspace. Circular bassline swim in a invincible funky-beat and crush against a wall of synth providing you a sure dancefloor-filler.
In addition they commissioned a remix from Berlin-legend DJ Filippo "Naughty" Moscatello. He made 2 versions, impossible to choose the better they included both in the release.
Remix 1 is a dubby-hypno ride with a moroder-like dizzy bassline.

Limited reissue of this ultra-rare Loft classic from 1979. Though Edgar Winter was an artist more known for his jazz, blues and rock work, a collaboration with Ne w York's disco uber-producer Tom Moulton produced this stunning result. As well as being championed by David Mancuso at his legendary Loft parties this was picked up by Italy's Cosmic scene and for good reason - the instrumental particularly is a disco masterclass with rough chunky basslines, super-funky timbales, wicked choppy guitar riffs, crazy synthesizers and of course the unforgettable 'woo's all in the mix creating pure dancefloor mayhem. After years of beans on toast, spending any spare pennies on vinyl, lugging sound systems around fields and clubs and playing free parties, the brainchildren behind Inland Knights thought it might be time to cash in. The recipe was simple and Drop Music was born.

Hailing from the hub of the Midlands region, Inland Knights were not only an established entity in their own right, their off-spin aliases including Toka Project, Larry Fives, Party Criminals, In House Alterations and Big Audio Spidermite caused ears to prick across the globe. They were the creators of a label that promoted to the world The Littlemen and more recently, James Curd and Jay West.

With a catalogue that is embarking into its 74th release, Drop Music is far from relegating its status and has moved to the forefront of house music record labels.

Listening to the latest 12' from Tom Giles, you'd be forgiven that he went to sleep some time in 1983 and was roused from his slumbers, like some Arthurian knight, to save England from its obsession with faux-retro micro-genres. His studio, hidden out in the wilds of Hackney Wick, is certainly worthy of a disco Rip Van Winkle - it's stacked to the rafters with enough vintage kit to make any decent producer want to go straight home and start listing their internal organs on eBay.

Blockhead has been bringing you releases featuring tech, deep-tech, jackin, soulful, and all around funky music lately and this ep is another stellar addition to the label.

We would like to introduce you to our newest member of the Blockhead family "4Beat Club" & "Jem Cooke." Jem is well established pop singer out of the UK who has the voice of an angel and the tour schedule to prove it! She normally doesn't sing over house tracks but has made an exception for this release and we are extremely grateful.

The title track "Noizz" is a pretty funky house track with a little added noizz. Perfect to play in a deep or funky house set.

We have also enlisted "Hits & Kicks" who turn in a wicked remix! Somewhat jackin, somewhat techy, somewhat soulful, but all around good. For those of you that don't dig on vocals, we have got you covered with a dub mix.

Now he releases an EP by fellow upstart DJ Naughty on his Roska Kicks & Snares label. DJ Naughty is the fresh young sensation hailing from North London, England. He is very popular with in the UK music industry and it is said that he is responsible for introducing Funky House to a much wider and younger audience. In 2007 DJ Naughty became one of the must have DJs for any big event and regularly featured at Garage Nation, Climax and Garage Fever. He is also a resident for Female Skanker and spent the summer of 2007 in Ayia Napa 'Tearing down the island' as a raver so nicely put it.
