Following in the same vein but a touch more upbeat is Just a Tool, a more playful funk-inspired piece. Closing the a-side, Share the Love takes the tempo a bit higher and and shifts toward more club-friendly territories, houses goodness.

Turn that disc and get awake for I Know, a disco-edit piece with trace of french heritage and filter action. Lastly, Deep Inside takes us into a gentle profound dreamy state, moving more on the inside than with the feet.

ADAM CHINI is most known as the keyboardist for BRIAN ELLIS's REFLECTION BAND. This LP is a spaced out tribute to love in all the right ways. Disco-funk recorded in London in the late-70s by Fungai Malianga who’d relocated from South Africa to North London. His funk-led ode to his manor with ‘Finsbury Park Party’ sportin’ Break-beats, tape echo, horn section and a narrative on Harringay’s finest known landscape. This is backed by a disco-funk version of Lennon–McCartney’s ‘Things We Said Today’, not only the most unknown version until now but also the grooviest. Drum & bass grooves to the max.

Danny Berman aka Red Rack'em is back with 2 more burners on his much loved Bergerac label. After slaying everyone last year with Wonky Bassline Disco Banger and this years hotly tipped Self Portrait LP he's got his sights set firmly on the dancefloor once more.

2017 has been a vintage year for the Berlin based DJ producer with Radio 1 mixes, serious air miles, remixes for Tensnake, Tinie Tempah, shows for Rinse and after a hectic summer, it's time to focus on his own productions and get back to what he does best. Making slamming house cuts designed for maximum floor damage.

Place For Me (Version) is a cut up, pumping, soulful disco house slammer. Originally released in 2009, it's been updated and remastered and is another great example of Red Rack'ems ability to chop up vocal samples and make something fresh from them. Guaranteed club wrecker, which served as a pre-cursor to WBDB and thus needs to be out there once more.

Exhalt is a super deep, spiritual house number with vibes galore. Deep pads and crisp beats combine with deep bass in an ecstacy tinged, euphoric disco number. One for the heads....

Melvo Baptiste steps up to mix his second Glitterbox compilation, 'Pump The Boogie!', featuring the upfront disco heat that has been setting off the dancefloor all summer at Glitterbox parties in New York, Amsterdam, London and Ibiza. A contender for the hottest party on earth, this Glitterbox season saw record numbers through the doors at Hï Ibiza, with Melvo himself playing his first headline sets in the club's main room, the Theatre. 'Pump The Boogie!' reflects the sounds of the Theatre, moving from the joyful 80s and 90s sounds of The Emotions 'Turn It Out' and Kathy Brown 'I Appreciate' through modernised classics like Sister Sledge 'Got To Love Somebody' remixed for 2018 by disco maestro Dimitri From Paris. More so than ever this edition has a heavy focus on the latest upbeat dancefloor killers from the last 12 months, like Selace 'So Hooked On Your Lovin'' (Mousse T.'s Extended Disco Shizzle) and Gershon Jackson presents Reset Preset 'Hands Together' (House of Omni Hands Together Extended Club Mix), the exceptional new release from the Glitterbox imprint.

Demonstrating what Glitterbox does best, 'Pump The Boogie!' explores authentic dance music enhanced by live instrumentation. Mighty Mouse 'The Spirit', another Glitterbox release, uses percussion and brass blasts to build energy, DJ Mes 'Da Change' (Miguel Migs Salty Rub) carries a captivating guitar hook and Paradise Express 'Dance' (Special 12' Disco Mix) features the unmistakeable backing of a full disco band. The album's namesake 'Pump The Boogie' (Basstoy Boogie Mix) by Mark Picchiotti goes full throttle with chest-pounding groove, strings and earworm vocal. Including a New Mix by Dino Soccio from LA (for his Pleasure of Love release) and re-worked by Dutch producer Orson Welsh: giving this Italo-sound classic a more powerful touch. On the B-side is the original version of 1982 , as well as the much sought-after 'Soul Version'!

One year after its release, Quartet Series proudly presents the remix EP of Nachtbraker's successful debut album When You Find a Stranger in the Alps. A collection of remixes by some serious talent. These three producers were carefully selected by Nachtbraker because of their impeccable reputation and ability to bring something unique to the world of music.

Humble Danish maestro Central (Help, Dekmantel) flips "Flambo" into a Jori Hulkkonen'esque summer anthem with a highly addictive bassline. Preacher of wonkiness Frits Wentink (Wolf, Heist, Bobby Donny) took "LOL" and brought it some serious keys on a solid breakbeat while maintaining its jolly character. Flipping the record, Nachtbraker brings us the evolution of "Just Doing My Thang" turning it into a quirky dance floor tune whilst also showcasing his ear for detail. Up and coming talent Nemo Vachez (Forest Ill, Opia Records, Rakya) dives deep into "Horsepony" as if he's cruising the depths of a rainforest in a submarine. Andy Hart launches a new series for Voyage with two dubbed out club tools. 'Neutron Capture' is a chuggy acid number with crisp drum programming, glitched out synths and a weighty 303 line.
On the flip 'LFTR' offers up a hypnotic roller complete with reverberating stabs, crunchy hits and expansive textures.
If this is a sign of things to come for Hart's new outlet expect a string of club ready, dancefloor orientated cuts from Australia's golden boy.

The latest single taken from No Fantasy Required, "Blondes Have More Fun" exemplifies Tiga's knack for deceptively deep songwriting and lush production. It is accompanied by a trio of remixers from contemporary electronica royalty: prolific Swedish producer on-the-rise on part 1 Jonas Rathsman, Running Back boss Gerd Janson and and international house and techno breakout du jour, The Black Madonna on part 2.

Throughout the ‘REFRACTIONS’ EP, Close Counters further signify their skills in blending house, soul, funk and broken beat and to create their own blend of insatiable and infectious grooves through a polished comb-i nation of electronic and organic instrumentation. The third chapter in the NómadaWhite series is here and, for this one, the Bogota-based band of brothers have decided to cross the pond in search of like-minded lovers of all things deep and dusty. That signature Hip-Hop- and Jazz-infused Nómada wobble, made in Europe this time.

Dug up from the deep end of the Polish party scene, Ugly Frankie demonstrates a particular penchant for vintage vocals and whirling woodwinds, delivering a well-rounded A-side with
'Don't Step' on warm-up duties, 'Jimmy' for peak time president and 'I Need To Dance' to round things up nicely. Let there be no mistake, Frankie sure does have a pretty side.

A true virtuoso on the keys, French miracle man Mangabey then comes in strong with 'Wooden Flowers' on the flip, dropping perhaps one of the most soulful and funky synth lines of the season. Continuing his steady streak with 'No Q' and 'Unless', it should come as no surprise that some of the man's most recent productions have been released by trusted astemakers like Apparel Music, Blaq Numbers and Toy Tonics.

A strange collaboration finally finds its release.

It feels like someone left the light on in the studio and it all just ran itself, there had been a funky human input earlier in the day but, by a Darwinian machine-led kind of osmosis, the tracks recorded spent the wee small hours self-reducing and simplifying themselves - Marinated in music. 'I believe more in the scissors than I do in the pencil,' said Truman Capote. 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication,' opined Leonardo da Vinci much earlier in proceedings.

Yes, it's the space around the object, what you leave out that makes what you leave in so important. "ESG" know this. Sure they can play the game but it's the swagger of the groove and the minimal topping - like an anti-cup cake - that makes this unique New York sisterhood so appealing on 'Keep On Moving'. Sampled on TV ads, lauded by critics and swooned over on the dancefloor, ESG's post-punk took out the grunge and polished the basics.

Cut them open and 'less is more' is written all the way through. 'Keep On Moving' was released just over ten years ago to much praise (Q said it was 'even better' than 2002's much loved 'Step Off'). 'ESG' had been sparring partners for PiL and early hip hop and four years after the 'Off', they were onto something new - rhythm as core, reflective storylines about relationship management, sensuality and insanity gather around the bass fix but they're much blurrier than the incessant beats. Inadvertently they unmask techno and glitch and leave out any kind of superfluous fluff. It's hard and temple throbbing.

Turn it up. And keep moving. 'If there's one tune which sums up
ESG's enduring lust for life, it's the beautifully-judged Black Flag

The story began when three Stornoway Cove’s (Innes, Uilly and Boydie) met up in the house to have the craic on a Saturday night playing music with just the dog and the cat watching. After a few tunes getting thrown across the room Boydie stated muttering a few sentences. As he is a man of few words not attention was really given to him until he shouted ‘Quick, line me out!’ Not a second to spare a set of old broken headphones were cable tied to a guitar amp and out came a few cobwebs followed shortly after with a sound nobody had ever heard before.

The band play homemade songs that tell stories in a funny kind of way about the island life. It’s not for everyone but they’ve sold out Glasgow Barrowlands and 5 other dates already for their Spring 2020 tour with a second night announced for Barrowlands in November. For our 12th release we turn to local friend and rising star on the underground scene, Ray Mono. For remixes we've turned to Julenn who's recent Blind Vision EP sold out in under a week. Holding up the tail Pathway boss Niko Maxen delivers a stripped back remix of Identify Crisis.

Founded by ordained bishop Larry H. Jordan and his brother-in-law Frank Tinsley in the early 1980's, Enlightment was among the first groups to fuse modern R&B production with gospel themes.

After providing the group’s ultra-rare debut album Faith Is The Key with a proper release, Nature Sounds is now making another lost classic from Enlightment available to the world. “Agape Love” was
a 1988 promo-only 12” single pressed in anticipation of a second Enlightment album, which unfortunately never came to fruition.

Previously only available in extremely limited promotional quantities, “Agape Love” has been re-pressed off the original vinyl parts and will now be hitting record shelves worldwide. “This is well-deserved reissue,” says famed DJ and record collector Kon, who calls the record “a lost gem that slipped through the cracks of obscurity.”

For the B1 we're buzzing to finally release an original track from Matthew Styles, who's been on remix duties 3 times over the years, with the infectious house of Jungle Fever.
Last and by no means least The Carter Bros give us Tempting Disco Fate, a rolling disco loop with the mother of all bassline changes at the end of the track.
Look out for part two dropping in April featuring a Jimpster edit of Galcher Lustwerk, Fort Romeau remixing the first ever Tsuba release from Williams and a Tsuba debut from Roy Comanchero.

Club Internacional unearth more long lost Brasilian grooves from the archives of Rio imprint Top Tape for lovers and collectors around the globe.

This edition kicks off with the funk-driven sounds of Melo Do Fricote by Band' Azul.
Fusing rapturous vocals, guitar and horns this track originally appeared in 1982 and was the band's only 45 single release.
Here it is in its original format at last.

The flip side features the much more established artist and celebrated guitarist Octavio Burnier. As one half of Burnier & Cartier he produced one of the most sought after LPs in Brasilian music in 1974, which became like gold dust to collectors of Brasilian music. It was recently reissued by the excellent Mr Bongo to the relief of all lovers of Brasilian sounds.

In this later solo track 'Que Nem Sol', Burnier demonstrates his exquisite guitar playing as well as his talents as a composer and singer.
A seriously delicious slice of soft boogie funk it was released only on 45 single on the Top Tape label back in 1980, and again has never been repressed.

Club Internacional hopes you enjoy bringing these long lost, blissful funk vibes back to life via this limited edition vinyl 45 pressing.

Two classics from the Brazilian repertoire: Joyce’s Aldeia and Jobim’s Felicidade are given a subtle and sophisticated dancefloor treatment, perfect for those warm up and after hours sessions. With volume 1 + 2 selling out very quickly indeed, these won’t be around for long.

On the B, label regular CEM G's 'By The Sea' is reworked by Eddie into a looped-up and irresistible mid-tempo musical mover.

OK, so this is a bitter sweet moment for me. After 4 years and 60 remixes, we are about to release the last re-workings of Romanthony's vocals.

When Roman and I first cooked up this idea in 2006, the first thing we had to do was digitise all his original vocal takes. Unfortunately, they were all on 1/2 inch tape and he had no working reel to reel. At the time, he hadn't heard of eBay, but I had, and I soon sourced him the Tascam tape deck he knew and loved.

He wasn't the biggest fan of the idea of re-visiting his old catalogue (he was more interested in releasing new material) and so it took a lot of cajoling to get him to record in the multi-tracks. Slowly but surely though, we began building up a collection of a cappellas and other parts.

As well as his lack of interest in the project, he was also very protective of these new digital parts and so only released a few of them to me at a time. There are more on his hard drive and hopefully his parents will let me have access to them so we can keep his memory alive with more remixes. However, until then, this is the last of the remix projects.

Most of you will know the version of this song he recorded with Daft Punk. Before he died, he made a new recording of the song and sent me the vocals to source the remixes. It was a tough job - the song is such a classic - but hopefully I've done it justice.

First on the remix list was Detroit Swindle. The guys are just a class act and if anyone could take this classic song and give it a timeless twist it was the Swindle. They do not disappoint. Warm moogs, soft and spacey keys provide the funk-fuelled backing, strings soar around Roman's gorgeous tones and all the while their tight rhythm section keeps the groove bang on.

With the standard that DS set, you'd expect the other remixes to struggle in comparison but each remixer took a different style so I think they all stand up superbly.

Doctor Dru's version is pure gold filled with classic chords and a baseline to die for - a future end-of-the-night anthem for sure. Christian Nielsen opts for a loopier, DJ Sneak style groove and Nice7 go for a dubby acid workout.

Here they all are, I hope you like them as much as I do.

A funk ridden shakedown from start to finish, one for the more lively parties you might play at.

The timeline Ep is a nod to the journey of label head Jamie Trench. It features a blend of tracks previously only released on limited VA eps and digital only releases. All four cuts epitomise Jamie’s style of heavy bass and drums with lots of sample cuts. The eps these tracks feature on have been heavily in demand so it’s great to see them resurface.

Debuting under his given name for Maddjazz Recordings' second offering, is DJ, producer and synth enthusiast Henry Keen.

Henry's music was discovered after a long night of online digging, and after several exchanges, it was apparent that Henry was making music that defined exactly what Maddjazz is striving to achieve; honest music that's free of form and not constrained by any genre or tempo.

Henry has been making music as Soundspecies alongside brother Olly since 1998 and the duo are also members of London-based experimental Gnawa band, Electric Jalaba. He also produces solo under the alias, The Room Below, initially reworking close friend Paul White's 'Rapping With' album but more recently exploring dance floor territories with releases on UK imprint 'Don't Be Afraid'.

70's Baby is a raw and honest record. A collection of uptempo grooves written in various locations around hectic inner London. It's spirit is born out of the freedom of the CDR sessions at the now defunct club Plastic People, where many of Henry's productions were first shared, and where tempo and genre were irrelevant. It references Henry's love for the instrumentation, recording techniques and sounds of the 1970s, the decade of his birth. Featuring a tasteful blend of worldly and otherworldly sounds, It owes itself to modern and ancient dance themes alike.

Italo-disco inspired house music, IN MY DREAMS is the latest single from New York/Moscow duo IPF aka INTERNETPOWERLIFTINGFEDERATION. A warm, galloping bass line fuses with razor-sharp synth stabs, creamy pads and late-80’s house drums. A dual-vocal exchange explores self-delusion, obsession and a single-sided relationship between girl and the boy who lives in her head. Melancholic yet pop-y, IN MY DREAMS wouldn’t be out of place in club run by Erasure, Depeche Mode or Human League at their most soulful and dancefloor-ready. In the spirit of classic 80’s dance music traditions, the original mix gets three additional reworks: a classic Electro version, a “big room” friendly HI-NRG version and stripped down version. This is the first release from New York city based label Daddy Issues, limited pressing 150 copies only.

Futureboogie continue to shine a spotlight on Bristol’s ever-burgeoning music scene, with an EP from Natural Sugars, backed with a firing remix from accomplished Lithuanian DJ, Manfredas!

Henry Hicks AKA Horatio Luna is a Melbourne based improviser, composer, bassist and producer. A founding member of hip-hop/soul community "30/70 collective", he is an active member of the Australian beatz, jazz and soul music scene.
After parting with 30/70 in 2019, Horatio featured on the Gilles Petersons Brownswood compilation 'Sunnyside Up', released 12" 'Print It, Run It, Send It', Remixed Moodyman approved Jitwams music and focused his sights on working and collaborating with the younger generation of players in Melbourne, serving as the musical director on 'downundaground' and joining Antiphon among many other groups.

Any historians keen on the subject of "French youth in the 1980s" are holding a treasure in their hands. As a true archaeologist of this decade dedicated to disposable culture, digger-in-chief Vidal Benjamin with his newest compilation, 'Pop Sympathie', offers them a unique journey in the heart of the cyclone of emotions that struck all teenagers during the first seven years of François Mitterrand's mandate. Fifteen musical nuggets, exhumed from the dungeons of history, each and every one of them teaching us about what really obsessed the youngsters at that exact moment, i.e. what happens when the city lights come on at dusk, when irrepressible urges that stir them to get lost even more appear until the end of the night.

The artists gathered here did not have the honour of breaking into the local charts, but they all individually reached for the sky. Each song of 'Pop Sympathie' tells more or less the same story: that of a girl who throws herself into the night like one immerses one's self into the void, who rushes into a one-night adventure to become a star. And too bad if in the early morning she finds herself back at square one. In all these miniature odysseys there is neon lights, lasers, smoke machines, broken glass on checkered tiles, strangers on leather benches, celebrities in the bathrooms, stolen kisses, alcohol, drugs and cigarettes, Polaroids, venetian blinds and radioactive tubes.

If the first opus of Vidal Benjamin, 'Disco Sympathie', focused on the funky mood of songs that could have been played at Le Palace, then 'Pop Sympathie' develops itself as the imaginary soundtrack of another nightclub, Les Bains-Douches, the capital’s epicenter of nocturnal drifts. So what do we listen to, blasé, at Bains-Douches? Mainly synthesizers. The child of punk and post punk, French New Wave celebrates the matrimony of machines and lolitas under the auspices of a retro trend that revisits the atomic age. Trying to surf on that wave and hit the charts, a bunch of producers (Stéphane Berlow, Laurent Stopnicki, Bernard "Black Devil" Fèvre, Johny Rech, Jean-Yves Joanny ...) will spot their talents amongst friends, in a travel agency or at the local bar. These virtual stars are called Cecilia, Laurent, Sonia, Janou, Fabienne, Anne, Arielle or Ronan, not even 20 years old, and often leaving just an overexposed photo and their first name on a single as the only memories of their swift passage in this particular musical story. It took all the love and sweet madness of Vidal Benjamin to bring them back in the light of day.

Tempo Dischi's second release is one of electronic music’s seminal albums; 1798 Italian space disco album: Automat by Automat.

A year after the release of Oxygène by Jean Michel Jarre, a milestone for electronic music, “Automat" was released in Italy, a timeless record that has influenced the years to come. Released in 1978 by EMI Italia, the album has been produced by two veteran italian songwriters and composers, Romano Musumarra and Claudio Gizzi after meeting Mario Maggi, one of the major innovators in the manufacturing of electronic instruments in Italy. Maggi invented the first programmable monophonic synthesizer ever made: the MCS70. Its sounds have been the basis for the production of the whole Automat album. That synth was used only for this record and remained a prototype, leaving a halo of mystery behind this record.

The album moves in the furrows of an atypical space disco, with abstract classical arias alternating with more sustained rhythms, which combine electronic experiments, progressive psychedelic journeys with cinematic themes. The A Side, composed by Gizzi is an electronic disco-tinged suite divided into three parts (The Rise, The Advance, The Genius). Ater a brief spatial intro, the insistent arpeggio expands into a soundtrack theme with a sumptuous melody, which slowly fades away to make room for a progressive psychedelic journey. The B Side, composed by Musumarra, is made by three tracks, including ‘Droid‘, one of the most representative songs of the electronic music of the early eighties. A magic sequence between the bassline, the electro drums, and the spatial disco theme with a futuristic and cinematic mood. This is a record that has influenced the music of our days and after 40 years may still sound contemporary.

After CV’s double Special Delivery LP released in 2018, Edit Service is back with its fifth release, an EP of edits by the young Moscovite duo known as Ólta Karawane, noticed for their edits on Maturre and Discos Capablanca. We’ve been playing their edits very often lately, so it seemed natural to release them on Edit Service. a1 - les portrait le diacre astvatsatour sarkissian Opening the EP is this early 80’s antipodean cut somewhere between new wave and post-punk where a shopping list is recited by a male and a female voice engaged in call and response. Innocent and catchy on the surface with its electric keyboard, primitive drum machine and bass guitar, it seems there is something perverse lurking within this tune.

a2 - folle vendredi soir On this cut, Ólta Karawane take an obscure guitar-driven Italian tune from the early 80s with coolly detached vocals that are closer to New York’s phlegmatic post-punk than Rimini’s exuberant italo. Extending the tune and reinforcing the dance-inducing rhythmic section, the Russian duo’s edit is a groovy affair.

a3 - farine The original was a late 80’s hit by an Austrian pop band, with a bassline not far from that of a seminal italo-german hi-nrg hit. This mid tempo edit strips it down to its bare essentials, synth arpeggios, 808 programming, and various bits and bobs. Extended, it’s a catchy and compelling cut.

b1 - oinj Here Ólta Karawane take a dissonant art rock tune from a British producer and focus on underlining the track’s intricate melodic and subtle but danceable rhythmic arrangements. There is a playful and slightly mysterious Eastern feel on this edit fit for hash dens.

b2 - racaille Closing the EP is an edit of a highly-influential Swiss producer. The original was released in the mid-80’s and has proto-trance written all over it. By slowing it down and extending it, Ólta Karawane highlight the warm and bittersweet analog synth arpeggio at the track’s core and make the electro beat driving the tune even more spacious.

Extremely rare left field funky soul on this one, originally released on the 'catchy' Mijarelix label (name came from the initials of the band members). Charm is the name of the game. Fragile guitar and vocal with a great hook, simple and beautiful. Flip it over and you have another original, more garagey but still funky flip, not sure which I prefer, love them both, hope you do.

Two great 'Tom Moulton' Mixes back to back! 'SOUTH SHORE COMMISSION' were a self contacted soul/funk band from Chicago.
They released their one self-titled, Billboard Dance Chart No.1 album in 1975 on Wand Records from which comes the Bunny Sigler composed/produced track “Free Man” featuring Instant Funk.

It was recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. This Tom Moulton mix on “Free Man” was an original feature of the album and is considered one of the first proto-house records.

The second release on the label sees the German share duties with Spanish edit demon Rayko, with the Rare Wiri boss hogging the A Side. First up is an expert rearrangement of Candi Staton's cover of the Bee Gee's standard "Nights On Broadway" which strips the track of its orchestral leanings to focus on the groove! Following this is a meaty take on a classic, with Barbara Keith's cover of "All Along The Watchtower" reinforced with some bottom end bump. Em Vee spreads a special disco version of Alma Lee's late 70s Philly delight "Gimme Your Love" with an extended intro that fully displays his edit talents.

Following the 1960 Nigerian liberation from Western colonization, Nigeria began to use music to vibrate everyone into a place of harmony and community. The majority of pressings that came out from within the Nigerian state paired disco, funk infused beats with strong, political lyrical statements.
In this release from Dibson & Essody, the political undertones of “Justice” blended with the smoldering grooves of “Music Lovers” and “Let Your Body Move” classify this disco under the monumental must-haves of Nigeria from the early 1980's.

Side one kicks off with a heavy rhythmical beat, driven by funky synthesizers in a track called “Music Lovers”. Followed by a lyrically driven track, “No Ones Gonna Live Forever”, with vocals resonating over percussions and flugelhorns. Side two is packed with two goodies: “Let Your Body Move”, composed of a funky bass line and layers of percussions, and then the famous “Justice” track that combines catchy guitar riffs with memorable piano chord progressions.

Limited edition remastered reissue of Funky Family, the italo disco studio project from 1984. This production features Nicola Nicolosi from Nicolosi Family (we can remember him on Amnesie by Turas) and represents a real example of proto-house that became a Chicago classic regularly played by Ron Hardy at Muzic Box and during WBMX radio shows. This edition has the full instrumental cut on the side two instead of the short radio edit available on the original one.

Sisyphon is ready to return to the scene with a new compilation paying tribute to the Sisyphos Wintergarten. The musical style ranges from traditional deep house moving towards experimental

As Hans Peeman's side project next to his Junktion moniker, New Franklin Theory returns to Outplay with a very personal project. Five carefully produced songs in the form of a mini-album of sorts, which showcases his journey into more melodic synth heavy work. Starting off, 'Andromeda Beach' eases you into the spacey atmosphere of the record with dreamy rhodes supported by his distinctive percussion and bass work.

Following, 'Homeward' introduces melancholic synth lines grounded by an infectious bass line for a Balearic inspired feel. 'Afterburner' ups the tempo with warm arpeggiated Juno sounds and saxy disco samples, which will remind you of his previous work. When Smallpeople went touring Australia for the third time in 2016, we played a gig in Brisbane and had an amazing time hanging with James Hilan, a young gun from the local scene-
a heavy vinyl collector and bad-ass DJ. He took us to the Wheel of Brisbane for our first Vape experience ever and after some good laughs we became friends. When James sent over
some of his deep yet pumping tracks a few years later we were blown away and when we played them out at our monthly residency at Golden Pudel in Hamburg we decided to gave

After the release of his first EP Hot Room in 2015, and several tracks on Pont Neuf's compilations Habemus Paname, the obscure Parisian producer KX9000 returns with a new EP mysteriously titled Trouver 'X'. This new 4 tracker appears as a cosmic adventure and a hallucinated meeting between electro, house and jazz funk with multiple influences.

“I’ve got these kids who can talk real fast,” was how record producer Sylvia Robinson described the Sugarhill Gang back in 1979, before their biggest hit ‘Rapper’s Delight’ was recorded. Fast forward forty years, and the song transcends genres, tastes and generations. Perhaps this is why as ‘Fever’ comes through the speakers there is a warm feeling of familiarity that comes with it. Bringing back that NYC Lower East Side grime, LESDK will feature edits as well as new work from Dennis Kane and his circle of proper low-lifes...

Ghost Town and Disques Sinthomme featured contributions from Brennan Green, Richard Sen, The Beat Broker, Bicep, Jose Manuel, and Cosmic Metal Mother, as well as edit monsters like Jeff 'The Drunk' Overton and Cazbee. Kane will be helming this label, curating work and providing his own productions and remixes.

LESDK

Starts off side A with 'Real' - A soulful disco romp that has a gospel force as well as a powerful vocal performance. The song grooves from its first beat, and pushes the energy as it builds. "Now it's time to be real..." Edit as manifesto - Pure heat! The edit work here comes from one of the OG's of serious digging, Senior Reyes aka Jersey Pete.

Side B brings 'Action' as its first track, complementing the A Side, this is some dirty late night Philadelphia bar nastiness, mentholated disco with a humid female vocal, "I like to party, I like to flirt..."

Side B closes out with 'Motion', a slice of cosmic funkiness that laments a love that is not happening while a thick bassline moves the proceedings along.
This song has heartbreak and the haze of an early morning on the dancefloor.

Three essential edits for the DJ to bless the party people with.

Dennis Kane is a DJ and producer based in NYC, he has run the Disques Sinthomme and Ghost Town labels and is also a partner in the recording group SIREN, (with Darshan Jesrani) on Compost records.
Kane has produced numerous tracks and done remix work for Cantoma, Liz Torres, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, and Hokis Pokis among others.
He has been a DJ in NYC since the mid 90's holding down numerous residencies and touring worldwide.

Fantastic Voyage kicks off the first vinyl focused label, Fantastic Wax, with Hong Kong based vinyl aficionado, and owner of Pharmacy Records and Fauve Radio, Romain FX. Inspired by his love and respect for African music and it's deep roots, Romain approached it with a modern mindset to give a second life to the tracks that we're disappearing due to the lack of accessibility and rarity of these records.

The return of master Loz to Outplay!

He presents a wonderful EP of three varied tracks, showcasing his prowess in combining synths and sampled bits.

HOMAGE goes from "out here" to "really out here" with their sixth release from Mr. Sunshine, a brand new duo from London artists Danvers and Luke Campion. Just like sunshine, this combo pack of techy rollers and UK bass really lights up the dance floor. Starting strong with "U Don't Know Me," Mr. Sunshine aim straight for the dome with a heaving house bomb that might blow up your summer. A cut deeper than the rest, "My Knife" is a slice of UK bass with speaker rattling capability for peaking crowds. Rounding out the project is "God Chord" a breaks influenced bass track equipped with cheeky vocals and a stuttering acid line. Bringing everything full circle is NYC treasure and rising star, Justin Cudmore, who's flipped the standout "U Don't Know Me" into an equally massive club weapon. Folks get down in the sunshine!

DJ Rocca returns to Roam Recordings with two new originals backed by an all star set of remixers. The title track Slide to Unlock is a pretty tune that builds a swirling arpeggio under a beautiful electronic melody. In contrast, Uros is a huge gritty track with attitude.
Up first on remix support is the legendary I:Cube who takes Uros into hypnotic ethereal territory in a perfectly woven masterpiece. Rounding out the EP is another legend, The Emperor Machine, who twists Slide to Unlock into a beautiful electronic disco version full of bounce and analog goodness.

All four tracks combine into a diverse yet cohesive EP of stunning dance music electronics.

Ivaylo is next up on his Bogota Records imprint with a pair of fresh new cuts that come complete with a remix from Hugo LX. Bulgarian native Ivaylo is based in Oslo, and has vast experience of the dance music industry, having continuously proving himself as an essential DJ and producer, most recently his release on Cassy's Kwench Records 'Ae Way'.

He delivers again here with Hausa, a deep roaming tune with a bassline that immediately lifts your energy. It makes for a back room track that is super tasteful and filled with warped synths and deft percussion that gets under your skin. Hugo LX serves up a tripe remix with tiny little sonic details, a spooky sense of late night mischief and neon melodies that really standout.

Last of all, House Moult is a busier, more bristling cut with jostling drums and underlapping bass, an inventive sense of musical warmth and plenty of fresh ideas that are finished with an anthemic vocal that will get the crowd on their toes.

This is another standout EP from all concerned, and another great chapter of Bogota Records.
