R-A-G is MOS boss Aroy Dee in partnership with Marco Spaventi and G String. Together they make frayed and analogue house music that joins the dots between 80s Chicago and the modern day.
This new EP does just that once more, opening with the dense sci-fi stomper that is Vacuum. With coarse synths and plenty of sonic scuzz it fires your every synapse.

On the flip side, Plenum (Outer Mix) is a beat less ambient affair with lost synths ringing out in vast chambers of fine grain sound, before the Inner Mix slowly courses on raw kick drums. Whole ecosystems of synths spiral around like galaxies in the distance to make for truly filmic deep house listening.

Singular Records is really happy to welcome Colin Mckeown, aka The Parallel, from Dublin, for the third release on the label.

Hot Trax is back with its third release '9 Weeks', from first class female producer Davina. Injecting her sexy and seductive French touch she delivers two distinguished tracks aimed firmly at the dance floor holding onto a classic house vibe yet pushing creative boundaries and showcasing her immaculate production skills.

The A Side '9 Weeks' is a hooky driving groover of a track. Getting heavy rotation from the Jamie Jones it's proving mainstay of his sets. This is a surefire crowd pleaser. On the flip and 'Moskitoes Cries' gets low-slung a dirty, great little vocal fills and stabs effectively punctuate the heavy rolling rhythms to keep them dancing.

Originally from New Caledonia, a French island between Australia and New Zealand, Davina is now resident in Ibiza. A successful DJ and live performing artist as well as being one of the worlds most in demand music technology tutors, she has recently had several releases on Push Push record, but has delivered a great two tracker on HOTTRAX.

Filtering through apocalyptic sunbeams, the iconic voice of Róisín Murphy shimmers above Luca C & Brigante's spacey vibrations in 'Flash of Light' - the next spark of brilliance from the ever more ubiquitous duo. In the shining trio of remixes, Solomun takes it straight to the neon club, while Tale Of Us cast their ghostly spell and Blond:ish bring a dose of dreamy tech...When a friend of mine introduced me to the music of Luca C & Brigante I was stuck with an apocalyptic feeling, as if I were listening to the sound of a party at the end of the world. And with such strong imagery coming to mind I was only too happy to write with them when they asked. Tief is well know in London and beyond as being a clubnight where it resides at Corsica Studios, showcasing house and techno of only the highest quality, a standard that is now to be transferred to a record label; Tief Music releasing music that we truly love from artists who have a connection with us or what we do.

Tief001 comes from two close friends of Tief who are releasing music for the first time under the guise 'Sisterhood'. The 2 original tracks capture the atmospheres, moods and energy that fits so well with Tief's ethos and demonstrates a real skill for using analogue instruments to hair-raising effect.

A1, 'Call Me Ishmael', aptly named after the opening line in novel 'Moby Dick' is an epically symphonic track which utilises infectious, spine tingling arps that dance around hypnotic hat patterns building alongside piercing strings to produce climatic break downs.

The Arttu remix of 'Call Me Ishmael' demonstrates exactly what the Berlin-based producer is becoming so well know for, showing little regard for polishing, over-producing, or keeping those levels green, but stripping it back and keeping only what is completely necessary. Arttu turns the track into a raw, gritty weapon aimed straight at the dance floor, harnessing the arps and atmospheric strings but completely re-programming the drum patterns to turn it into a real stomper with a reworked bass line reminiscent of 90's Uk Drum & Bass and the addition of some serious pitched down vocal cuts and snipped up samples.

The second original track (B1) is named 'Tannhauser'. Sisterhood create lush spacious soundscapes that are underlined by the sparse throbbing bass notes and punctuated by crisp percussion.

The Juju & Jordash remix of 'Tannhauser' rounds off the record perfectly. The deepest, most atmospheric and perhaps most emotional addition to the Ep is testament what these 'masters of analogue' have become so well known for. The track develops effortlessly and the listeners patience is rewarded with a mesmerizing and provoking journey. Much like the Arttu remix, this track makes no effort to disguise the methods by which it was created, the reassuring hiss and clunks of various machines can be heard which adds nicely to the warmth and atmosphere that this beautiful track oozes.

With what looks like a summer heatwave on the horizon, it seems right to call on dirtybird's European extension to deliver a sun-
drenched dance floor stormer to see in the new season. The two track 'Love' EP sees Catz 'n Dogz join forces with the ever-
innovative KiNK, a pairing that has proved striking in the past year after KiNK's beautiful 'Follow The Step' release on the Polish duo's
label, Pets Recordings.
'Good Love' packs an instant punch as a hefty house bass line bangs with all the filth you'd expect from the dirtybird associates.
KiNK infuses his innate sense of liveness into the production, particularly felt in the drum work which smacks, crunches and kicks
with a crispness that is hard to imitate. The effect-loaded vocal loop is what gives 'Good Love' its hedonistic, midsummer flavor,
driving the track straight to set climax selection territory for anyone with a penchant for
the deep and dirty. The 'Bad Love' mix falls into techier territory, as the distorted beat fizzes and crackles with a master- ful touch of
vitality. Just as heavy and arresting as the A side, this is the sort of bad love that feels too good to decline.
Characteristically classy, with a generous helping of bass, expect this Catz 'n Dogz and KiNK collaboration to be working out dance
floors for the foreseeable future.

Claus Voigtmann makes his vinyl debut on Lisbon's Assemble Music, applying the same high standards to his productions as he does to the Toi Toi parties he co-organises in London. In fact, you can imagine 'Spin' greeting you on arrival in a moodily-lit Shoreditch basement, its growling interplay of bass and kick drum instantly familiar and pleasurable. The plunging bass and pinpoint kicks of 'Junago' bring to mind the refined soundspaces of Peter Ford or 'The Au Harem'-era Villalobos. It's the kind of track that comes into its own the later the night gets, and just as the elements interlock then writhe apart from each other you can imagine the dance floor doing the same.
On remix duties, Ion Ludwig applies the attention to detail we've long learned to expect from him, though here he's manufactured a leaner, meaner beast than his recent releases on UGold and Trelik - four to the floor, with skittering high hats over round, menacing bass. The stripped-down elements swirl in and out of phrase to create a very modern style of techno that you can easily imagine catching the eye of DJs from all over the spectrum.
With Voigtmann's debut, Assemble Music's roster of new and established artists continues to grow in depth and quality.

Purple Velvet is Chris James and Lee Dearn, two purveyors of deep and sensuous house music since forming in late 2011.

Having gotten to know each other at various late night music sessions, the pair have increasingly honed their own house sound that's as suited to the dark conSines of a club as it is the sunnier vibes of an outdoor terrace. Sparks Fly is gritty, dirty yet soulful at the same time. DeSinitely the work of a duo with a promising production knack. On the Slip Back On On The Boulevard featuring Lisa D on saxophone and Breathin are two late night drive jams, emotive and super lush.

"BEHIND" is his longplayer debut on ORNAMENTS and is a mirror of all his influences from dub
techno, ambient, downbeat, Detroit techno and house music. Never before has Martin incorporated his
music so much in analog hardware, field recordings and hidden messages.
He has invited orchestral musicians to collaborate on the project and one of his main ideas was to use
no samples and generate every sound with a range of classic analog instruments using modern
techniques of the year 2013 without loosing the old spirit.
Guests vocal collaborations from around the world include Robert Owens, Brothers' Vibe, Delhia de
France, Keter Darker and Bajka. Each of them adding their unique character to the album indulging
the listener into new mystical directions.

Milanese duo The Barking Dogs return to the Gomma label for a superb new single featuring Rush Hour's Tom Trago and a remix from the ever-excellent Analogue Cops. 'You High' show's why the pair have been picking up dedicated support from the likes of James Murphy (DFA), Soul Clap and Toally Enrmous Extinct Dinosaurs.
Italian DJ/producers Cristian Croce and Nicola Mazzetti AKA The Barking Dogs have been building an enviable reputation over the past 5 years. Releasing music through their own Barking Dogs label, running their own Discosafari nights and touring as DJ's, they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with. The pair are also the owner of one of Milan's leading record stores Serendeepity.
2012 saw the Dogs join forces with one of German's pre-eminent electronic music labels, the Munich based Gomma. Gomma need little introduction having been the driving force behind music from the likes of Munk, Headman, Whomadewho & Dimitri From Paris, pushing the boundaries of nu-disco, house, techno and electronica for well over a decade with a perpetual eye towards the future. The Barking Dogs 'Mamarracho / Linked In' single has been one of the highlights of the year so far, generating heavyweight DJ support and being used to open the Radio 1 Essential mix from Total Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
The follow up EP kicks off with title track 'Your High' and sees The Barking Dogs team up with Rush Hour artist Tom Trago for a wonderfully off kilter slice of electronic music. Warm bass, heavily delayed claps and skittering percussion work around subtle vocal edits, abstract piano chords and sonic sweeps to wonderful effect and create a record that has a truly unique feel. The original is backed up with a remix from Italy's The Analogue Cops who create a mix that is a wonderful fusion of live elements and techno sensibilities, sublime stuff.
The EP is completed with two further original recordings, the bubbling acid techno/disco of 'Margherita' which sees the boys melding acidic analogue lines with jazz inflected techno percussion and 'Ebony' which takes things on an interplanetary tangent with its bass driven, sci-fi brilliance.
The Barking Dogs are genuinely talented and truly unique, pair them with the Gomma label, Tom Trago and The Analogue Cops and you've got a pretty special single indeed!

Roundtree could be the alias of a very well known (perhaps legendary) producer who might want to remain anonymous. We're not saying, or perhaps we just did, I'm not sure. Anyhow, two rather crisp housers on offer here, 'G-String Diva' with it's sharp as nails percussion and female spoken vocal which lends the track a nicely sleazy edge and 'No Need For the V' with it's prominent baseline driven grove. Enjoy!

2012 will be a year for new faces on the boe release schedule and first up is Professor Inc.; a producer from Paris who has taken inspiration from the masters of the early dub house and techno sounds, incorporating samples borrowed from the days of floppy-disk sharing to create fresh new soundscapes with a very modern feel. He delivers a 4 track EP of stripped back house with complex peripheral textures and effects; from the evolving strings and moving sub bass of Path Illumination and VTM Beos Tribute to the sinister echoes and delayed drums of Elements Combined and Essence Dub.

Jackmaster Cunt EP is the 5th release from Sound Black. Its a departure from the Lady Blacktronika's signature slo mo sound taking us on a journey into jack. She's got 4 deep groove laden tracks here to please the hardest of deepcore house fans and the deepest of hardcore house heads. The tracks here borrow largely from the sounds of Chicago and New York/New Jersey in the 90s, sounds near her heart. These are the roots revisited and brought back to the future of house.

With an overwhelming passion for Chicago // Detroit and Italo-House, Mayo Soulomon has long studied the genres' analog roots and carefully created his own studio spaceship of synthesis. The first release since Romanthony's tragic passing had been sent to the pressing plant before he died. Following discussions with his family and advisors, Glasgow Underground is continuing its series of re-issues to help create a legacy for Romanthony's children.

Andre Crom takes Roman's 1995 classic and takes it on a modern day garage journey filled with skipping beats and stabbing chords and - in tribute to the original - one massive organ bassline. Big tune.

Ejeca opts for a more direct, heavy on the kickdrum treatment and while he's opted for a similar sound palette to Crom but in the young Belfast producers hands 'Ministry Of Love' becomes a hypnotic, crowd-pleasing piano anthem that is up there with the best work he's done.

On one of his 3 mixes on the package and given that this was one of the few Romanthony classics where the remixes had access to the full parts, Kevin McKay reproduces Roman's original jam in his '90's re-edit' to give a flavour of what the original would sound like had it been released today.

Young Glaswegian producer Mirrors teams up with McKay and take Roman's vocals down a pitch or two, get out the juno & the 909, slap on a thunderous kick drum and deliver the kind of synth workout that wouldn't be out of place on Power House.

Finally McKay delivers his own re-interpretation of 'Ministry of Love', wrapping the full song around a simple, acid-driven groove.

No rest for the wicked, after launching OneOffs earlier this year and releasing our first EP with three fresh cuts from three talented producers we're back.

Each of the four cuts is a highlight in its own way, from the afro inspired house on 'Size Up' with a superb Herbie Hancock tribute from Crackazat on keyboards, to the slow and bass heavy techy 'I'm The Jack' from Will Berridge on the A-side.

After the release of their acclaimed 1st anniversary compilation, ClekClekBoom Recordings already have another EP ready to go,
coming in the shape of a vinyl-only white label from CCB's co-founder and figurehead French Fries.
Having supplied the imprint's inaugural "What to Do / One ting Dub" white label in July 2012, the second installment finds the
producer going back to an prior analogue jam session, where producer used only his beloved Minimoog Voyager, an old Sequential
Circuits drumtraks and the classic TR 909.
Inspired by Chicago's producers from the Dance Mania era, French Fries also lays down his own vocal freestyle of "Drums-Traxx"
across the EP.
The first part, 'Drums' uses an infectious acid bassline to cut through an overdriven Detroit inspired groove.
The flipside, "Traxx" is the result of a lengthy jam session with Chaos in the Cbd in French Fries' studio and uses the same sounds for
a different purpose. For this Chicago flavoured version, a 4x4 kick propels the groove accompanied by loose, pitched toms and
distorted hats
'Drums / Traxx' undoubtedly drips with old-school Detroit & Chicago House influence but as the impassioned vocal chant of the EP
title sprinkled across both tracks reinforces, it is not purporting to be anything but a sincere, superbly executed homage to a classic
era.

New Jersey based producer Jorge Velez returns to Echovolt under his brand new guise Bridge & Tunnel Kids with three tripped out, psychedelic journeys of the Detroit kind plus a remix by fellow 'outsider' Willie Burns!

2012 was a prolific year for the New Jersey based producer Jorge Velez also know as Professor Genius. He recently spread even more his name with his 'MMT Tape Series' release on Rush Hour Recordings and the blinding sountrack-ish 'Hassan' album on the notorious L.I.E.S. from New York.

Jorge Velez and William Burnett joined their forces in 2009 and their collaboration tracks became the first release on the Echovolt label's catalog. Their debut EP came under the name 'PG&S - Motorik EP' and contained some freaky krautrock electronics.

After four years, Jorge Velez and William Burnett (aka Willie Burns) return to Echovolt. This time Jorge Velez delivers three tripped out, psychedelic journeys of the Detroit kind under his brand new guise Bridge & Tunnel Kids. This fresh Echovolt release is topped off by a remix by fellow 'outsider' Willie Burns with his unique sound signature!

Berlin based Quell aka Nikolaos Raptis, is a relatively new name to the house scene, but the up and comer has been striking chords as of late with releases for the likes of Kolour, Tsuba and Ibadan.

The EP kicks off with 'Check You Out', which sees Quell ride out hooky, shuffling drums, raw chord stabs, and heavily delayed vocal lines in an evolving, progressive fashion. The near six-minute duration embraces a variety of classic house elements such as hi-strings, 909 drums and chopped up vocal samples, with variations in the groove being introduced every 16 and 32 bars. 'Don't Go' follows, embracing a similar aesthetic with weighty drums, an infectious saw-wave bass hook and bright stabs. Quell draws out the background delays to build tension, while shuffling snares and additional synth melodies add a further depth to the dynamic.

The latter half of the release takes things in a more raw direction, firstly with 'Loose Meanings', a gritty bass hook runs alongside resonant pads, crunchy drums and a smooth chord sequence, while the late stages see Quell develop the melodies with additional tones thrown in for good measure. Lastly to close the release, 'Right' is offered up, Quell opts for a boomy sub bass to drive the track, while string hits, looped acidy tones and an amalgamation of vocals are tightly blended to create a heady house cut.

It's no secret that Ben Watt has chosen to close his acclaimed Buzzin' Fly label to new music after ten great years as one of the UK's leading dance independents. But the label has chosen to go out with a bang with one final single. Unearthed from the vaults are two dazzling tracks from cornerstone artists, Rodamaal, and Manoo & Francios A.
· Rodamaal's 'Fortune' was originally completed back in 2007 but scheduling problems prevented it from being released at the time. Produced by the Franco-Portuguese trio (Rocco, Darkmountaingroup's Alex Santos and Manoo) it is a stark but emotionally-charged deep-techno masterpiece, that deserves its place alongside their other classics for the label, 'Musica Feliz' and 'Insomnia'.
· On the flip, and originally produced in 2005, is 'Other Places' a long-lost track by Manoo & Francois A. Full of summer shimmer and heavy bass tones, it was produced by the duo during their heyday at the label, and was a secret favourite of label boss, Ben Watt.

DFTD is a new, breakout label to Defected Records focusing on fresh, new and undiscovered talent from around the globe - along with the occasional curveball release from established acts. DFTD complements its parent with a more diverse musical remit, releasing a broad range of electronic music, focussing on quality, discerning dance music.
This is the very first vinyl sampler from the label, showcasing three incredible forthcomings tracks, all due to drop on digital early in the summer. First up is Hope from Guti, a stunning Balearic cut from an Argentinian artist who has previously released his outstanding material on Crosstown, Cecile and Supplement Facts. Created with the White Isle in mind, it features a warm bottom end and the intoxicating vocal from Jason Hate's 'Pray For Love'; the much lauded track has been a staple of Guti's sets for some time now and finally sees a release on DFTD. Mercury steps up next with a stripped-back, bass-driven version of Jonas Rathsman's Tobago - the original mix of which was initially licensed to Chris Malinchak's French Express label. Rounding things off is Forrest., and artist who shot to notoriety on labels including Noir Music, Souvenir and Gruuv. His inimitable production is characterised by its depth and warmth and Creep is a shining example of his skill.

The White Man & The Arab - an uneasy pairing of minds designed to deliver dancefloor bliss via the medium of limited 12s - is Ben Micklewright aka BLM (of Fear Of Flying / Underground Quality fame) and Souhail Zaatari aka Soho (of Phonica / etc fame). Together they been secretly labouring away in the studio and this four tracker is their first joint outing.

The EP kicks off with 'I Said', a subtly hypnotizing analog jam with deep chords, a cleverly manipulated vocal snippet and a galloping beat that's impossible to resist. Next up on the a-side is 'A little bit of the 80's'; a moody slice of emotive house, that rides a disjointed drum pattern, reverb-drenched chord stabs and an eerie melody.

On the flip 'Future Moves' is the rawest out of the four tracks on offer here... It's a ruff and ready basement jam that gradually builds it's way to a tight 909 pattern, an acidic bassline and a a blink- and-you'll-miss-it vocal sample. Finally the EP rounds off with 'T.H.T', a straight-up dancefloor tool, where the emphasis is on the groove and percussive elements. An excellent EP from these two producers who definitely know where it's at...

The unstoppable Boris Bunnik is back once again, this time as Vernon Felicity with a four track EP for MOS Recordings. The tracks see him explore his usual analogue heavy sound, but there is a little more space in his arrangements, a more rueful mood.
The title track 'Dawning' is slow and purposeful, with acid pricks and twitches peppering a churning groove. Next, 'Breaking Silence' is more kinetic, with claps, hits and squiggly melodies all bouncing off each other as pronounced basslines strike a melancholic note below.

On the flip, 'Wrong Notion' has plenty of height to it, again with eco systems of analogue lines and acid belches all weaving their way around each other and the raw, splintered beats below, before last track '3' explores wide open cosmic synth spaces with lingering pads, mournful Blade Runner style synth lines and gently churning rhythms all soothing your brain and body in equal measure.

Time for one of Freerange's longest standing regular producers to return to the label for his first EP in three years. The Stepping Tones EP is absolutely classic Shur-I-Kan from start to finish with two original tracks plus a remix from the very excellent Berlin newcomers Kim Brown.

The title track opens with a big, bold, bouncing bassline and driving groove but as we hear the arrangement unfold the layers of keys build and drop bringing the trademark Shur-I-Kan musicality and energy to the track. In our opinion this is one of his strongest tracks yet and we're pretty sure this will be a firm favorite this summer, set to be heard everywhere from Croatian boat parties to Dalston basements and beyond.

Up next we have Kim Brown with their remix of Stepping Tones and what a job! The Berlin duo have made a big impact the last couple of years with their incredibly deep and beautiful Spring Theory and People's Republic releases on Just Another Beat. Completely sublime downbeat deep house is the key here, owing as much to ambient and orchestral music as to the rough and raw lo-slung club beats we're hearing from labels such as Dial and Smallville. Their remix brings rugged drums, dubby keys and lush strings to the fore with the addition of a twisted, filtering vocal enhancing the warm glowing sunrise vibe which emanates from this track.

Conundrum closes the EP with another deep, jazzy and cinematic Shur-I-Kan masterpiece and once again he layers up the textures and harmonic elements slowly and expertly, introducing the little hooks over time until before you know it you're bathed in a warm shower of lushness with tingles running down your spine.

2020Vision mark their 250th release with a very fitting project from the originator of the label Ralph Lawson. Lawson presents a selection of classic mixes and unreleased gems produced alongside his original production partner Carl Finlow.

Ralph Lawson received a call last year requesting permission to re-release a mix he had done for DJ Dove over 10 years previously of a track called 'Come On'. He had forgotten all about the mix but it still sounded good so he agreed. Then two things happened - a journalist called Kristan Caryl picked up on the track and asked in his review why Lawson didn't produce more and at the same time people started buying and reacting to the track as if it was a new release.

People started buying and reacting to the track as if it was a new release. Both events got Lawson thinking; what other tracks were produced at the infamous Farmhouse studios that he may have forgotten and what could be new discoveries

So on the first day of this year he ventured into his Garage lock up where all the old DAT master tapes were stored and started to root through them. It was a challenge to find a working DAT player and one even started to chew up the precious and only copies of the recordings. Eventually he managed to extract the recordings and sat down with Discogs to see what was up with this material. He was amazed to find that there was loads of material that had never been released and that much of their work was now highly sort after, deleted or unavailable digitally. Every exciting discovery added to the project until it became something Lawson felt had real worth.

Many tracks were made 10 years ago but listening to them today will be the first time you (or anyone else) will have heard many of them. They will also be new for a whole new generation of DJs and music lovers.

After his debut 12inch on Actress's Werkdisc label comes Moiré's new 3-track 12" on Rush Hour.
In February, ears were picked by the debut release from Moire, a mysterious producer hiding behind hypnotic visuals and a well-groomed cloak of anonymity. Now he's ready to show his hand further with this second release, a three-track EP of what he proudly calls 'London techno'.

You see, London means a lot to the man behind the Moire mask. While not a native Londoner, he is proud to call the city home. From the dazzling lights of the West End to the grey housing estates of East London, Moire has immersed himself in the city. You may spot him lurking in dimly lit basement spaces, documenting urban decay in Canning Town, admiring the city's eclectic architecture or contemplating the ongoing gentrification of Brixton. That is, of course, if you can identify him.

'London,' he says matter-of-factly, 'is so raw, yet so full of soul'. It's a theme that he keeps returning to, and an aesthetic that sums up the City's musical output. You can feel it in his new EP for Rush Hour, too, from the clattering, Tube-inspired rhythms and heart-aching chords of 'Rolx' - a kind of West-East journey through subterranean London - to the intoxicating after-party pulse of 'Don't Get It', where the city's insomniacs gather to raise themselves to the rhythm one more time. Then there's the tumbling, discordant chords, carefree melodies and intense rhythms of 'Real Special', a celebration of life on the city's musical fringes.

This is Moire in a nutshell. There's much more to the man - we've barely touched on his visual inspirations, and his love of the chaotic simplicity of moiré lines and patterns - but he'd rather leave it to the imagination. Timelines' is the new LP from British house producer Luke Solomon and it will be released via his and Derrick Carter's Classic imprint in May in a package that features the LP, a selection of remixes and a mixed bonus version.
Luke Solomon's influence on house music has been strongly felt for many years. As a DJ and promoter he pioneered mid-week London clubbing with his legendary Space night alongside the late, great Kenny Hawkes. As a producer he has constantly delivered original, often idiosyncratic and always unique house music (and beyond) for an enviable list of imprints. As an A&R he has helped develop many a career (Tiefschwarz, Freeform 5 and Isolee to name but a few) with The Classic Music Company and continues to do so with Classic and his new role as one of Defected's A&R team.

'Timelines is an album that I have been making and remaking over the last 6 years.

I started work on it off of the back of The Difference Engine (Rekids), my last LP under my own name. The idea was to make the album part of a trilogy, this one being representative of my more Balearic roots. The original version that was completed fell on deaf ears quite considerably and it became a bit of a sticking point for me.
I decided to put it to one side and in the process started working on some other music, which in turn, helped me stumble across a new sound and production technique. The initial idea was to work on a series of songs that represented significant points in my life, but lyrically and musically. It then became more relevant to the 6 years of writing and producing the album. A lot of shit happened, and I was able to pour it into finally completing the album. I then decided to keep the album guarded and close as it had become that personal. I didn't want the album to be effected by opinions of those that were too close to me and the music.
What I ended up with is something that has come straight from the heart. Made possible by joining forces with a whole stack of talented musicians and singers over the last 6 years.'

That Girl, produced by our recent discovery Innershades, opens with a repeated voice sample and a nostalgic pad, just to drop one
minute later into one of the rawest hard hitting house tracks you'll see around in a while.
Hotflush's Locked Groove gives the original track an acidic twist halved with his signature top-class deep house production skills.

After taking care of the inaugural release for the label in 2012, talented Mr. La Desh makes a welcome return to the Black Ops fold with his 'Rebound Round EP', the third emission of this fledgling Sleazy Beats offshoot.
Over the past years the elusive Dutch producer has been crafting a real sound of his own, fusing ambient soundscapes, elements of disco and ethnic grooves, wrapped in a blanket of warm drums, swirly pads and moody synth lines to great effect, as aptly demonstrated on this new twelve.
The A side is reserved for 'In The Back', a hypnotic excursion through dusty beatdown basement house grooves with crisp drums and an ever so slight hiphop sway. Ben La Desh keeps building on those sleazy wobbly grooves, subtly layering new elements and melody lines that all come together in a blissful finale. On the flip, BLD pays hommage to his African roots (he was born and raised in Benin).
Escape Route offers up earthy and emotive rhythms backed with African chanting and timbale percussion. A lovely deep cut that wouldn't seem out of place on a haunting movie score, yet has enough drive and oomph to also do serious damage on discerning dancefloors.
Rounding out the release is Bohicon Bossa, a track that gently blends favela flavors with a killer midtempo groove and mad amounts of bottom end, complete with peaks and valleys of winding muted trumpet snips accosting a humming bassline and male vocal.
The Rebound Round EP is a showcase of a producer on top of his game and comfortable with exploring and incorporating new sounds and influences into his music, making this another timeless outing from the elusive Dutch producer.

The new album marks something of a new direction for
Cosmin, however - it's a much more intricate affair that deals
in plenty of fuzzy texture, percussive energy and his
trademark skimming bottom ends, but looks outside the
techno world for its influences. "Gordian is as much a
document of my past year as it is the beginning of a
conversation. The title references an ancient myth, but
describes the very contemporary, impossible task of
discerning between real and replicated, authentic and
contrived. Coping with facts, objects and bodies, the
necessity of 'making it', fear of failure, fear of 'not being
happy' are today's topics, and Gordian is my attempt at an
exploration of those issues."
Starting with the deep, alien laced ambience of 'New
Structures For Living' its clear from the off Cosmin's
production has continued to improve and evolve since
Simulat. Abstract yet heartfelt, it's followed by the more
implosive snare rattles and crossing synth lines of the title
track 'Gordian' that sounds like a factory gone feral.
Opposing light with dark, density with space, tracks like
'Desire is Sovereign' manages to be both propulsive and
cerebral. One thing that ties the album to Cosmin's nuanced
back catalogue is the gauziness of tracks like 'Divided By
Design' where the distant hum of radio frequencies turn your thoughts
to Cold War era transmissions lost in blizzards of
snow.
Though the heads down surges of tracks like 'Semi Present'
sure will work on the floor, there's an underlying narrative that
makes this album as suitable for listening on headphones.
Non-standard melodies, otherworldly blips and a ruined
intergalactic energy seem to course throughout, truly transporting you
to another world entirely.

Next up on Local Talk we got a raw peak hour jam from Liverpool producer Dale Howard (Lost My Dog, Large, Morris/Audio, Off Rec).
There is nothing light or fluffy about these tracks, its just dirty straight up house music with a dark 90s basement feel.
For the main track we actually chose the dub version of Throwback over of the original mix. We just thought this version was soooo freakin' raw even though its more stripped than the original version.
You'll see what we mean when you drop it in the club!
The second track In Out goes along the same house theories as Throwback with jackin' beats and deep chords that will do wonders in any authentic house basement.

Following the success of last year's first two editions, Don't Be Afraid return for Record Store Day 2013 with a third and fourth 12' combination of Spargel Trax releases, celebrating the dual themes of great seasonal music and great seasonal Spargel. The contribution of tracks from certain bona fide legends, who appear under the now familiar spargel-related pseudonyms as well as some incredibly talented new comers, meant that it was impossible to pass up the chance of working on a third and fourth volume. Both releases are limited to 280 hand numbered copies, and come on coloured vinyl with a recipe insert.
Spargel is very popular in the Netherlands, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland, and almost exclusively white — else, it is specified by the local language term for green asparagus. Compared to the latter, the locally cultivated so-called white gold or edible ivory, also referred to as the royal vegetable, is less bitter and much more tender.

TRX is an exclusive collection of tracks that spot light the unknown and uprising producers featuring on a brand new compilation titled Traxx. They bring us old school techniques against some clever bass manipulation to give us their interpretations of the original New York and New Jersey sounds.
On the A side we have LA based Rhythm Operator with their track 'Anytime' followed by The Real Connoisseur with the bountiful bass 'Faux De Baux'.
The B side begins with Munich youngsters Rhode & Brown, Schegg and 'Joyride'. While Purple Velvet wrap things up with 'Never Do You Wrong'. A solid EP delivering a new take on classic sounds and a taste of what to expect on the full Traxx album release on the 25th March.

After four impressive releases from the likes of Ossie and Behling & Simpson, 2020 Midnight Visions kicks of its attack on 2013 with a new EP from the UK's Doc Daneeka. Last year saw Doc team up with Benjamin Damage for a well received full length on 50 Weapons, They Live!, which stood apart for its pioneering hybridisation of house, bass and techno. Here, on his own terms, Doc explores a more extroverted, melodically rich variant of bass heavy house across all four tracks.
'Day By Day' slowly percolates on lush pads and skippy percussion until flourishing into a reserved yet euphoric track with the arrival of a gauzy old soul sample. From there warm pulses of sub bass prop the lush and rousing arrangement until the end.
'Just Say The Words' is another cautiously joyous track with nimble neon chords bringing plenty of dynamism to the buried deep cry of 'yes I will'. Rubbery beats sound clean and crisp, lending a most modern and contemporary edge to this new school house template.
B1 sees 'Everyday' teasing out frazzled synth lines above a booming bottom end that bounces in time with another well­placed diva wail. Shades of Julio Bashmore lurk within and the end result is familiar feelings of house joy achieved in fresh and unfamiliar ways. Finally, 'Sunset to Neath' is of a darker, deeper mood, where prowling sub tones lend menace to the chill of icy chords up
top. It closes out an EP that proves Doc Daneeka is continuing to evolve as fast the hybrid scene in which he operates.

"Sihltal" ist eine treibende Disco-Nummer, mit entsprechender Melancholie. Es geht in diesem Lied um mehr als um den Wunsch, Zweisamkeit zu erleben. Es ist die Abkehr von der Dauerberieselung, weg von der computerisierten Flachbildwelt, hin zum Erleben der physischen Kraft der Natur. Mit der Gründung des Labels Rumpelmusig hat der Zürcher Künstler nun eine eigene Plattform für seinen speziellen Sound gefunden. Das neue Sub-Label von Compost Records bildet in Zukunft eine Forschungsstation für außergewöhnliche Tanzmusik, die ihre Protagonisten und Autoren auf der ganzen Welt findet.

Fanzine Records' first recording is called Awaken EP and is by Orlando Voorn, alias Basic
Bastard; four tracks in which a classical sound is mixed with refreshing melodies and
that will be published on vinyl and CD.
Awaken opens the EP with force, personality and a great dose of feeling, in a perfect presentation
that leads into Imagine It, a track in which the artist suprises us again in a
natural track, as powerful as it is hypnotic. The time for instrumentals comes in Higher
Ground, where strings are mixed with voices in a pleasant track. External brings Fanzine
Records' first recording to an end, once again in a fun interplay of sound with rhythmical
nuances that from a distance could recall jazz.

From sex fuelled soirees to taste making record label, the Love Fever affair continues to be London's go to establishment for high quality underground sounds. After big releases in 2012 from Bicep and Citizen (both featuring in several end of year charts), the label once again calls on the talent of family member Citizen.
The 3-track 'Trax EP' opens up with 'Everything', an ethereal excursion that shows the development in citizens sound. Deeper and darker with a clear tribute to early 90s rave, it´s main room yet with a melancholic air that creeps up on you.
'Worship & Tribute (Your Love)', a slick garage track and most upfront of the release is a peak time banger. With some old school piano chords and an infectious vocal hook this one is sure to be a power play in London´s underground scene.
Lastly ´Glastique´, continuing on from last years Room Service, builds gradually around layers of expertly arranged synth work and bass guitar riffs until swinging highs and echoed vocals drive the track to an epic and atmospheric climax.

Off the back of his second club-shaking EP for CVS's DirtyBird imprint, Paris' ghetto mastermind producer is back for his 3rd outing
on his own label ClekClekBoom. After dropping their inaugural release, the stellar 'Champagne/Hugz (ft. Bambounou)', at the end of
2011 it seems fitting that French Fries return to kick-off 2013 with the label's 9th release.
A-side 'Everything' brings together flanged percussion, vast, atmospheric strings and a stumbling Detroit acid bass used in as a
Pulse. The first B-side, 'White Screen' is a Chicago style 909 jam complete with rapid-fire hats and techno stabs driven by piercing
claps laden with old-school 80s-era reverb. The final tune, 'D'Angelo', sees French Fries slow the tempo and bring together rippling
atmospherics, a 'Yo Vogue' style bassline and washed-out synths for this Detroit-inspired, double B-side homage to The Wire's
D'Angelo Barksdale... Let the boy be.
The use of bold, futuristic effects and percussive subtleties combined with an astute aptitude for clarity and fullness of sound makes
for yet another destructive French Fries and ClekClekBoom EP. This shrewd blend of experimentalism and dancefloor bass-weight
means CCB009 is likely to turn up in a wide range of record bags.

Paying homage to the beloved underground, a prime collective of neo-electronic architects spawn a quintessential four track vanguard. 'The Greatest' by Drivetrain (Detroit, USA) begins gritty and minimal, blossoming into an orchestration of vocal samples fused with melodic pads and acid bleeps. CloudMaster Weed (Meaux, FRA) utilizes the vocal stylings of Goddess Stephanie on the raw and sultry 'Sweet & Delicious.' Rennie Foster (Vancouver, CAN) makes a strong return to Soiree with 'Low Boxing" - an amalgamation of silky vocal samples dropping amidst heavy syncopated acid. Lush pads provide the final polishing. J.Garcia's (Detroit, USA) 'Lost' serves a commanding conclusion. The throbbing rhythm drives alluring female vocal samples thru an infectious late night sizzler.

One of Detroit's best kept secrets, Rick Wade has been producing late night tracks and tapping into the essence of deepness since the '90's. Known for their universal appeal and appearing on over 20 different labels worldwide, soulful, timeless grooves are his signature. Rick Wade was born in small-town western Michigan, less than an hour from Chicago's South Side. In the mid '80s, while studying at the University of Michigan, Wade gained his first gigs spinning deep underground house at the Nectarine Ballroom, the venue where Jeff "The Wizard" Mills was also making his name, for techno rather than for house. Simultaneously, Wade maintained a successful mix show on WCBN named "Journey To The Land of House." It was a huge success, as were his subsequent gigs at clubs in and around Detroit. So much so that, by '93, Wade was able to build his own studio and form a label, Harmonie Park. Wade has released his textured brand of house not only on his own label but also on the likes of Trackmode, Moods and Grooves, ATC, M3, Elevate, Chord 44/Container, and Out Of The Box. Little Angel Records proudly presents the brand-new full length album by Rick Wade, called 'With Me'. It contains thirteen deeper, than deep house tracks, that aim straight towards to the dancefloor, as well as the hearts and soul of the dancers and listeners

Discerning Austrian label and party of the same name, Praterei, kick off 2013 with their sixth vinyl release, this time a various artists EP leaning on the well respected likes of Chicago Skyway, Ethyl, 7 Citizens and Snuff Crew. Since the label started in 2010, deep house of an unpredictable nature has been the mo, and that continues again here.
Mysterious jack lovers Snuff Crew take the lead with an unsurprisingly old school flavored slice of house. Raw and unpolished, classic hi hats and sturdy kicks set the tone beneath colorful stabs and increasingly wild percussion: it's simple and most effective.
Praterei co-owner 7 Citizens s 'Perse' is darker and deeper, a nagging hook snakes about menacingly as a starry night sky of melodies reveals itself above. Esteemed Chi Town man Chicago Skyway's track 'Shy Girl' is anything but, instead it's a gauzy and derelict house track with scattered drum hits caked in dust and grime.
Finally, secretsundaze man Ethyl closes out a dark and delicious EP with a feels-like-you're-floating, dubby house track that has hits to die for, skating about beneath lush and melancholic chords. Despite this being a various artists EP, there is a common vision amongst the producers here for house music with a difference.

He's one of the founders and residents at Downlo (At DanSane)- Sheffields most celebrated Warehouse party, tucked away on an industrial backstreet surrounded by cutlery factories and long since abandoned little mesters workshops.
Sheffield, over the last two decades has been the hub of the northern industrial rebirth through creative arts, and DanSane is carrying the torch to a whole new generation of people eschewing the mainstream and seeking out something with a little more heart and soul in the city.

Over the last year the space has certainly made its mark, with guests like Delano Smith, Levon Vincent, Efdemin, Dj Deep, Secretsundaze, Babyford, Dinky and John Daly all making the pilgrimage.
Limited to 10 releases it will be a document of this time, and it is hoped, a nod to the possible future...

The BRAINDANCE EP marks a first outing on Throne of Blood for veteran Philadelphia dance music weirdos Pink Skull. This EP, featuring the a druggy, analog take on electronic dance music introduced on their recent DEFINITIVE GAUZE EP for Toronto's MY FAVORITE ROBOT label, marks a new direction for the band, who have a lengthy discography of genre-defying releases blending elements of post punk, noise, krautrock and more on labels like TONE ARM and I GET RVNG. This is a new incarnation of Pink Skull, leaner, meaner and crackling with a lysergic energy informed by decades spent djing well outside the mainstream.

The A side features a collaboration between Pink Skull's Julian Grefe and SCHEMATIC RECORDS' Joe Lentini that pays tribute to the erstwhile microgenre known as Braindance. Recalling the tearout edits and frenetic pacing of mid-90s SQUAREPUSHER or REPHLEX RECORDS, 'John, I'm Only Braindancing' blends classic rave stabs and breakbeats, aggressive edits and an atmosphere soaked in mdma to delirious effect. Toronto's JOKERS OF THE SCENE take the tempo down, replacing the original's anthemic stabs with a menacing bass thump and a steady 4/4 groove.

On the flip, Pink Skull bring down the tempo still further, turning out a slo-mo groover 'Brown Acid.' Analog synths and thunderous claps meld with spooky atmospherics to evoke a trip out of bounds. JACQUES RENAULT and Australia's DAS MOTH preserve that vibe with their bass-heavy remix, which injects a heavy dose of old school house into the proceedings thanks to a circular synth loop and some discoid drum programming.

'Treat Me Right' follows an esteemed remix series of Trus'me classic tracks with treatments from Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Terrence Dixon, DVS1, Ryan Elliott & Vakula.Here's what the man himself has to say as way of an introduction to the new album."Since 'In The Red' I found myself traveling as far as Japan and South America and experiencing new scenes and people that have influenced my sound both in the studio and behind the decks. Reaching 30 changes your perspective on life, so when visiting these strange but intriguing countries I have taken the time to stay for a while and take it all in. Airport-Hotel-Club and sometimes straight to the Airport can take its toll on you.Travelling so much has forced me to change my way of making music, I would say now I have a more 'anoligital' approach to my production techniques. The final production stage will always remain an analogue process but the creative process has become more digital. You can't take all those lovely synths and machines on the road with you. The Laptop is always there where inspiration hits you whether it be on the plane or hours after you're finished in a club.With 'Working Nights' I wanted to create a cohesive hour of music from start to finish, whereas 'In The Red' was a way to push myself and learn new engineering and production techniques, working with live musicians such as Amp Fiddler and Dam Funk. 'Treat Me Right' saw me move into the realm of synths, drum machines to create the sounds of the scene I had been submerged in over the last 4-5 years. Working on new music while on the road is hard, and fragmented sessions all came together once I was stationary in Manchester. The weather surely helps this, it's much easier to be influenced and complete an idea when the sun is not shining outside. I stayed away from the impulse of my love of sampling and musicianship and trapped myself in a room, so that the final outcome would be a true representation on the sound they call analogue."
