Having pinned to perfection the sonics of the Adriatic, Croatia's Love International Festival bottles up their blissed out rhythms and sunrise sessions for the inauguration of Love International Recordings, fittingly, with a first release from UK producer Begin.

Bringing the Love International feel to wax and digital, the label will encapsulate the range of music the festival's secluded party paradise has become renowned for. All the way from the balearic tinges of this first release, to the meatier house, techno and electro selections on show at Barbarellas.

Begin aka James Holroyd has a long history with Love International. Dating back to the early 2000s, Holroyd was one of the first guest DJs at the old Garden festival on the former festival site in Petrcane. Long serving Chemical Brothers tour DJ, Back to Basics resident since the 90's and Bugged Out co founder, Begin has long paid his paid his dues to the scene. In the words of Dave Harvey: 'he's been an absolute workhorse in dance music for time'.

Love International 001's tracks seemingly fit the festivals own daily lifecycle. From the docile guitar picking of meditative EP opener 'Wood Trees' to the slow daybreak funk of 'Daypulse' where synths pierce through the track like sun rays through the Adriatic dusk, the EP is a holistic reflection of what one might hear at one of the festival's fabled sunrise sessions. 'Garden Interlude' ushers in a fresh burst of energy, with the revitalizing sounds of piano house, paired with warming neo soul vocals. 'Into The Fun' is a self fulfilling prophecy, closing the EP on a quintessentially balearic note.

Fantastic edits of a UKG classic! Entity : London present one of their all-time favourite garage tracks with new mixes, one more on a minimal meets UKG vein while the flip is more of a 2-step version... already getting the attention of Four Tet! All proceeds from the pressing of this record will go to Grenfell charities.

The 4 tracks on this EP represent an excellent example of early Kwaito, originally released between 1990-1994. Now available as a limited edition EP only.
Kwaito can be considered an authentic South African phenomenon.
A new urban genre developed in the 1980s, an Afro-dance pop, mainly influenced by mbaqanga and African-American popular styles like hip hop and house. The development of kwaito began at the pinnacle of bubblegum music and when the apartheid era in South Africa was drawing to an end in 1994. Within the new democracy Kwaito soon became The Sound of Young South Africa .

Kwaito instrumentals are usually made entirely of synthesised sound. The tracks are constructed using a fusion of slowed down house music tracks (normally 100 and 120 beats per minute) and African percussion, which forms the core of the rhythmic pattern.
The lyrics in kwaito are normally not sung, but recited in rhythmic speech, usually in Isicamtho or any of the South African official languages.
The origin of the word kwaito comes from the Isicamtho word amakwaitosi (which means gangster). Amakwaitosi derives from the Afrikaans 'kwaai', which means strict or angry.
The association of kwaito with gangsters is because kwaito in itself is all about black ghetto music. To kwaito musicians and their fans alike, the term simply implies that the tracks are 'hot and kicking'.

After being absent for a while, Glance is returning with a uncompromising authentic record on Footjob. It recently has become quieter around the man who used to be a founding member of Running Back, but for this occasion he went and dug in his archives and came back with some beautiful old tracks, just to compile them in a classic, full of groove second Footjob EP. As a bonus he finishes and ends the record with two Downbeat sounding songs in reminiscence of his former genre crossing alter ego Siro. So this goes out to all the realkeeper, oldschooler und newcats. Glance is back on the map.

Since relocating to London from Brighton, things have been taking shape for Partner Music. You're not gonna find a more solid, well rounded example of that killer post-disco, electronic funk than this collection of cuts. Essential. Snoozing not advised!

Never afraid to get their hands dirty, the Frigio faithful have gone crate diving for their latest haul of treasure. The material for Ecdisis Vol.1 Lost tracks from the past, patted down, spruced up and given a couple of shots of whiskey by Juanpablo, Dunkeltier and, a new member of the family, Vinilette. From Barcelona, Vinilette is a Dj and producer who isn't afraid to pull a musical punch or two and she is in fighting form with her two offerings.First up, the 1986 EBM stomper 'God Save The King' by Son of Sam is revamped and reconstructed into a psychedelic rollercoaster of crashing cymbals, spiralling samples and bruising bars. The clock is being turned further back, this time Belgium's new wave punk outfit Arbeid Adelt! are the source material with their 1987 track 'Help (Me Ik Stik)' muscling up on a diet of raging rhythms and splintering guitar strings. The head honcho, Juanpablo, meets up with an old member of the family Dunkeltier (aka Dj Sneaker) to finish our journey. The pair travelling back to 1983 to Catalonia and the prog-jazz musings of Pegasus. 'Perseguido por el Rayo' is tuned up and transformed into an electronic bomb. Addictive grooves and hooks are polished with beats getting a shot in the arm for a hauntingly sinister piece of disco deviance.

Yoruba Records original this now classic record in 2008. With its ridiculous driving beat, and one of the most memorable melody lines weve heard on the dance floor, 'Mirror Dance' is another one of those dance floor monstrosities that Afefe Iku seems to naturally pull out of his magic hat. On the B-Side, Osunlade takes it deep with his Yoruba Soul Mix featuring spoken word king Oveous Maximus. With deeper rhythms and a stripped groove, this one takes you back to the basement house parties allowing you to go into trance and zone out to the words of Ove. Brace yourselves, yet again.

In those times of newfound experimental conformity, it is sometimes needed to go back to simplicity. This may be where DJ OIL is leading us to. You think you know what you can expect but common ground is not always in your head, it is sometimes under your feet.

A less than prolific, but very highly regarded outlet comes into the All Ears fold for their fourth outing

This time around a friendly trio unites for the production work. Mancunian chum Haners puts some deep body and soul into things and grabs the spotlight on the A, and there ain't no denying it's well deserved.
'Can't Live My Life' is one of those songs that makes you think there is a galactic ocean's worth of more to discover, just when you thought you'd heard it all !

Secret weapon 'Lifestream' is given the proper extension it deserves, much to the delight of all ears.

At last! The full 12:45 John Morales mix of this underground boogie classic gets the proper vinyl release it has always deserved! All those Discogs cowboys can now safely crawl back under their stones! Replicating the original 1982 12", except this one doesn't fade out a minute and a half before the end. The original flipside is present, only this time cut at 45rpm for higher audio resolution. Available from 14-07-2017. This release is (I think!) the first time all twelve minutes and forty-five seconds have been pressed on wax (in an ultra limited quantity) so don't miss it, Steven!

After being one of the many standouts on the 'We Are Opilec...! Vol. III' compilation back in 2016, I-Robots' 'Glamouflage' is now getting a full vinyl release with artwork by Tomozo Kevorkian, who was designer for NYC's Body & Soul, and remixes by a standout team of producers from Japan to Switzerland to South Africa and the USA.

Opening up the EP is a fantastic new Take II version from label boss I-Robots, who added exclusive Chinese vocal samples recorded on the streets of Huang Jiang City many years ago. The track is inspired by Ennio Morricone and Supermax and is a loose and infectious groove with brilliant drums and percussion and an elastic bassline that really gets you moving. It's a subtle update to the original—also included here as a bonus cut—which itself is a steamy and tropical sounding groove.

Swiss electronic pioneer Schaltkreis Wassermann then features on a version of the original that reaches for the cosmos with its rugged bass riffs, tumbling toms and busy, ever evolving groove. It has a big breakdown with exotic synths wandering through the night and oodles of effects and big guitar licks.

The first of the remixes comes from Kuniyuki Takahashi who has been a big supporter of I-Robots since 2000. He is a sound designer from Japan who had a compilation of his works put out by Music From Memory back in February. His version is laden with cosmic synths and chants, grunting and organic drums and is sure to be massive this summer thanks to its open air vibes.

Detroit's underrated but vital Gary Martin is the boss of the Teknotika label and his version featuring Colten Decker playing an unusual sax line shows another side to the Motor City. It's a curious and mysterious tune that makes for an unsettling atmosphere that keeps you locked throughout as it snakes along.

This is a fulsome package that brims with character and sunshine vibes and is sure to make its way into plenty of influential record bags this summer.

Straight out of underground Paris and right onto Pinkman's Broken Dreams arrives Myn. The Public Systems label boss follows up a debut track on his own label with a poem about gloom, desolation and anger written in native machine language for the Rotterdam imprint. The A stanza describes a 'Mental Outburst' with punchy lines written in raw percussion and disconcerting 303 work. Following a line break, the B stanza changes the meter from 4/4 to pummelling broken beat in a piece about power and dominance titled 'Black Rose'. The Violent Poetry concludes with yet more deathly rhythms and spine-chilling verses in 'Core Collapse'.

It seems like the Italians are well and truly taking over here at
Freerange these days. Following hot on the heels of releases from Stefano Ritteri and Bugsy we now present you with a brilliant three tracker from Rome-based producer Whitesquare. Known for previous releases on 2020 Vision and Toy Tonics Whitesquare has switched up his sound a little to delve deeper into the world of Afro-inspired electronic house which fits perfectly on Freerange and should appeal to fans of Hyenah, Rancido and
the Keinemusik crew. Title track Traces To Nowhere sets the tone, taking it's roots from the precision sonics and reduced approach of Berlin minimalism but infused with a warm, organic sound palette, resulting in a deep and atmospheric track which is powerful yet understated. Flipping over we have Understand, another hypnotic mood-setter which utilises a repeating vocal, percussion fills and a killer sub bass to create a track which places all the emphasis on the paired-back groove and
subtle detail. Rounding off the EP we have Suivre, a conga-heavy drum tool which mashes up live jazz drumming with a driving kick and echoing vocal to great effect. The sense of space makes this one a winner for changing things up in the mix and sounds fearsome on a big system. Three lovingly crafted
tracks which bridge the gap between Berlin and Johannesburg, bringing a fresh yet appealing sound to please dance floors worldwide.

Here we are for the 4th round of Apparel Wax and a crazy one indeed for all the lovers of the vinyl masked man, a release that expresses 4 different nuances of House. Few words are needed to describe the debut of the vinyl with A1 track which is a rarely powerful combination of 2.0 Dance Music and 80's vibes, a proper slap in the face to kick it off! Our unknown DJ then shifts to a more sensual mode with A2, where funky guitar shades and smooth chords blended with the vocals that drag us on a more intimate level of listening to keep on traveling on a lower tone. B side starts with a track guided by weaving Jazzy rhythmics dialoguing hectically with Samba and some jungle environmental recordings, creating a super personal interpretation of Brazilian Jazzy House, while to end up the 4th trip on Wax Planet, B2 blesses us with some more classic vibes with a sharp string's melody and a rich bassline guided silently by a Rhodes piano and some pungent and melancholic female vocals, to end it up in style.

This official 12"" version of Javaroo's super rare 'Breakin' In', has been seductively reconstructed into a sizzling string-laden magnum opus by Gerry Rooney & Joel Martin.

The song's infectious uplifting power is undoubtedly due the high quality of musicianship featured on this vintage Barry Blue production, aided by legendary Quincy Jones collaborator Rod Temperton (Heatwave) and a wealth of top British Jazz session players (John Cameron, Clem Cattini, Mike Moran etc).
'Breakin' In' is a nightclub groover complete with catchy sing-along chorus and luxurious love -unlimited harmonies to keep the dance-floor rocking and the crowd squealing for more!
