Give a warm welcome to one of Munich's finest electronic music producer talents Lukas Bohlender who's delivering a stunner of a debut EP for Compost Black with his - Sublime EP' - backed up by a floor friendly Beanfield & Thomas Herb Remix this little beauty truly lives up to it's name! A couple of years ago - around 2009/2010 - when we hosted our Black Label Sessions parties at Munich club Harry Klein we've regularly spotted a guy on the dancefloor - dancing and grinning - well he always seemed to enjoy himself hanging out at our parties - this guy was Lukas Bohlender. It didn't take too long and a little chat has been held beside the DJ booth - exchanging thoughts about this and that and of course about the music or the DJ who was playing. So sooner or later the seed for our relation has been planted. When Lukas sent us his tune - Club Chateau' in the autumn of 2012 he primarily wanted to hear our opinion but we were simply blown away and signed the track for the Various Artists threetracker Black Label #94 which has been released in spring 2013. Lukas tune went into the boxes and playlists from Agoria to Tiesto (no joke!) and marked a first success. The year after we hooked up Lukas in order to remix Robinn's - The Game Is Now Over' feat. Nathaniel Pearn (aka Natural Self) on the vocals - and again he did a great job delivering a beautiful remix. So we were quite curious and excited when Lukas knocked on our door earlier this year and played us two tracks he just finished - - The Sublime' and - Curly Bun' - and he truly took our hearts by storm again.
The title track is based on a strong polyphonic bassline and being topped by heavenly keys and organs it builds and builds to epic dimensions in a sublime way - if we could, we'd open a new sub-genre called Gentlemen House for this one :-) - Curly Bun' with it's beatless intro and broken beat structure is starting out a bit more laidback but unfolding it's relentless slipstream bar by bar - backed by a strong bassline and topped by a dedicated synth progamming and two very nice piano gimmicks. To round things off we've asked our longtime Compost Records stalwarts Beanfield & Thomas Herb to contribute a remix for - The Sublime'. The duo who already teamed up previously to remix Emilie Nana's - Tolstoy Changes', stripped back the rich musical elements of the original to it's essence, add a rougher SP1200 twist in their beat programming and took a more repetitive / Detroit inspired route in their arrangement / mix to make it work their dancefloors - great job! Nuff said!!

On "Fortune Teller" Eric Roberson lays down a powerful vocal that has been taken to another level by the one and only DJ Spinna with one of his future funky Galactic Soul Remixes. And if that is not enough, Osunlade's hypnotic vocal performance on "Transform" gets the Quentin Harris Re-Production treatment and we are given a peak time treat.

- hello asshole' comes with a crispy swinging groove, which is almost a breakbeat and the sounddesign sweeps splendidly. and then this compelling guitar riff appears and together with the voice and a bold synthi-line, it lifts us to new heights; right where you just drift away, big number, somehow stoned, but still kicking. jimi jules is a true musician, who prefers recording everything by hand, just like kalabrese, and sings himself, when he's in the right mood and has something to say. currently he's busy recording his debut album, trying to express himself and refining his style. jules is one of zurich's up-and-coming talent and already had a bunch of releases, no matter if techy, housy or some kind of dancepop, this boy rules.

The b-side's - kafi-lied' is an ode to the coffee drinking. taking time in the morning and starting the day with a relaxed mood. and the voice of sarah palin, singer of the rumpelorchester, gives the song the energy to gleam over everything to passionately throw oneself into the day and fall in love. Once again a strong performance by the zurich vocalist, the soul breathing just like fresh coffee flavor. The rumpelorchester guys join with a - rumply' choir and kalabrese adds the white milk froth with the right groove and his characteristic analogue synthi pads.

One of our highlights of last year was Nebraska's 'Soften the wireless' EP, with disco stomper Khan's Bargain, and an amazing Tom Noble remix. Since then, we've seen him take on quite a few live shows again, playing at Claire during ADE, and Concrete for our label showcases. He's also managed to find a bit of time to focus on his fresh (new and cool) edit label 'Friends and Relations'. Luckily, since we've been nagging him to do a new EP for Heist just enough for him to still like us, and more than enough for him to want to get it over with, we've gotten our hands on another set of amazing tunes. So we're happy to present his amazing music, nicely packaged in one handy record for your listening pleasure: the 'Metaphor to the floor' EP. You'll feel a hint of that Nebraska classic 'This is the way' on the lead track 'Affirmation', with its subtle build up and release of energy, looping vocals, and dramatic chords. Aglio e Olio is not only a simple yet tasty Italian dish with of just 5 ingredients, it's also quite the track on this EP, equalling the dish in terms of simplicity and strength. Snares on the 1, Clavi style hits and a loose arrangement give this track a great funk - house crossover appeal. On the flip, we've got fellow Londoner Laurence Guy, who just released an amazing album on the equally cool 'Church'. His version of Aglio e Olio is a dreamier excursion with filtered pads, acidey licks and more than enough balls in the low end to get you movin' in your dim-lit club of choice. The ep's final track sees Nebraska turning the energy up a notch or 2 (or 3), with 'Big plate chicken'. It's the sort of track you would imagine Omar S. producing if he would be just a bit whiter, and a bit more British. Whatever that means. Yours Sincerely, Maarten & Lars.

NightMoves, who is one quarter of Boogie Cartel, has Trip City's second release in the bag with his first solo release, the MIRAGE EP. Spasm is the big hitter on the record with heavy basslines and drum workouts, stripped back and meaty, the opening track is a sweatbox, just add poppers, while Swelter next up angles in on a tropical disco island, building up with synths and birds alike setting the mood before the mid way frenzy, after dark at centre parcs. Deep vibes on the B side with Deeper Love slowly burning its way through as the opening track, warmth and feeling squelch & radiate on this love excursion while Duneswill take you on a journey over sands far far away, tripping on a Mirage.

International Feel's newest signing Private Agenda are taking us back to a time when soul first met synthesisers, shoulder pads were as vital as the right Berlin address and Sheffield met the sonic Caribbean playground of Compass Point.

It was from this juxtaposed melting pot that the early seeds of Alfredo's Balearic Beat movement gathered pace and 'Déjà Vu' is a cocktail of Linda Di Franco, a Roxy Music esque aesthetic, bound together by elements of the inventive, contemporary production values of artists such as Todd Terje and Prins Thomas. 'Freefalling' on the reverse proves a fitting reflection of Private Agenda's wider vision. Finding sonic roots in early Balearicism - ethereal vocal lines over delicate percussion.

Uniting their disparate tastes and talents for the first time, the trio's debut single, 'Déjà Vu', provides a wonderful introduction to their world where production values are as detailed as they are bombastic lyrics, as reflective as they are bold.

Private Agenda are Martin, Sean & Nick. Martin's first synthesiser was an organ. He met Sean in German class. Sean was famous at school for his Mercuryesque indierockband stage presence and was especially dedicated to the art of songwriting. A few years later in Berlin, Martin moves in with Nick. The first time they worked together, they went for hours straight without a break. "I wanted to watch him mix music forever, it was magic," Martin recalled. Although it could have happened anywhere, Berlin was the place they all came together for the first time. Ladies and gentlemen, Private Agenda.

Permanently re-inventing himself Peter Clamat, Big Bait Records owner, the artist of UKNOWY, Neovinyl Recordings and already appearing on Sex Panda White with Neptune EP with Ishmael & Leo Wölfel remixes is the man after the opening 'Living Color' track, full of energy, deep chords and raw house drums.
Moony Me is a German-Venezuelan producer and DJ, based in Munich/Vienna, signed to Uncanny Valley, Apparel Music, Toy Tonics. He takes the next step on the release with 'State Of Bliss' played around the melodic arpeggios, screaming vocals and authentic house energy.
Anonymous guy Mystep is a sound producer and singer with releases on Large Music, Apparel Music, Lapsus Music working with major singers in electronic world like Cari Golden, Burnski's voice Beckford and Rahjwanti, is putting his hand to the smooth and laidback deep & funky 'Think' track featuring the vocals by Parisian LaVoyce.
The track elegantly performed by Mystep & LaVoyce is somewhere between deep house and funk, rich with guitars, hammond organs is the good story in the end.
We are very happy to have Americans Pools who after producing the album from our friends from Razor-N-Tape found time to contribute for full length release on Sex Panda White (oops, soon to follow) and 'Etobicoke' - the chill edit which is the logical ending of the whole 'Colors' release.

4 years after the conception of Heist Recordings with the 'Break up to make up' EP by label heads Detroit Swindle, they deliver their 4th solo record and release #26 for the label. On the 'Can't hold it' EP, the guys showcase their love for lush disco, analogue basslines and leftfield musicians, bringing in NYC native Willie Burns for a remix that shows you the darkest side of Heist yet. The title track and EP opener should feel like a warm welcome to those who enjoyed last year's 'Howsmusic' so much: warm subs, galloping hi-hats and an exotic synth loop that'll get stuck in your head for hours and hours. 'Just not Norma' goes on in a similar manner, this time built around a few simple but effective keys chops and the lovely solo work of Mark de Clive-Lowe, adding a dash of emotional P-funk to the groove. The B-side takes a jump into more electronic territory with both versions of 'Tamarindus hollandicus". The original evolves around a bell-like percussion loop and a roaring Moog bass, with synth, strings and piano loops exchanging their spot on center stage. Willie Burns gets all dark and trippy on his excursion into electro territory. Machinegun-like claps and haunting strings accompany the breakbeat-not-breakbeat and ruthless bassline to give the EP a thrilling finale. These 4 tracks show you a wide variation of dancefloor moods and hopefully will make you fist pump, strip, get down, jump, scream or do whatever it is you do when you're releasing your energy at a party.

Deep Space Orchestra is Chris Barker and Simon Murray, a pair of mature music lovers who have been DJing and making music for years. When together they conjure up emotive soundscapes full of lithe and rubbery bass, rich synth patterns and authentic real world textures. They have done so on their own labels Jack & Wang and Use of Weapons, as well as on Delusions of Grandeur, Foto Recordings, Quintessentials and Scenery. Never repeating the same trick twice, they conjure up original moods and grooves that don't rely on trends of the day nor obvious sample pack sounds.

Given their considered outlook, it is no wonder Memory is not just a collection of tracks. Instead it is a complete piece of work that has been cooked up over the last three years and has largely been born from a collection of gear they bought with a view to starting to play live. As such it finds them experiment with all manner of new sounds and techniques, and the results are triumphant indeed.

Things kick off with 'Feel No Pain,' a melodically dense and frazzled cut with a crisp boom bap drive that carries us to outer space. From there, the pair lay out intergalactic house sounds littered with spoken word snippets and perfectly poised synth patterns as per 'Selassie' and the suggestively electro tinged cut 'Let's Save.'

Even when the tempo picks up and things grow more physical such as on 'Voodoo Wingman', real musicality and proper arrangements still remain. More introverted, bass led tracks like 'Dream States' do a fine job of connecting with our inner, visceral lust for rhythm and brain soothing, car driving sound tracks come stoned synthscapes like 'Mission Hills' and colourful closer 'Starman' are genuinely emotional affairs that truly resonate.

Ranging from up-tempo to Balearic beat, these remixes are sure to hit the mood. Pete Herbert brings an 80's dance floor flavor with massive stabs to perk up any situation. A Vision Of Panorama mix is a beautiful mellow, sexy anthemic tune, perfect for the sun beaming down on the islands of your mind. Greeen Linez has the ultra lounge, 90's jazz groove covered here perfectly.

Mind fair's Rogue Cat Sounds imprint returns with a burning EP full of goodness! First off is hotly tipped Location 141 with 2 jams full of weight & energising rhythms to set the dancefloor a light. On the flip Rogue chiefs Mind Fair bring the heat down a notch with a Balearic soundtrack filled with lush piano & string arrangements and mesmerising melodies. They finish off with a cut that sounds like some unreleased Manuel Gottsching production this is special - don't sleep on this baby!

Epic Synthi 100 action by Ukraine's most notable film composer. Music for the soviet drama film «Flights in dreams and reality». Both tracks recorded and performed on EMS Synthi 100 synthesizer in Moscow on 15-16th of April, 1982. Source files from original tapes were kindly provided by the author himself.

Admin is someone we've had on our radar for a couple years now. Ears open for this FLEX002, a collection of fresh made in Italy house and the first journey with our new "Piada Spaceship", we are pleased to welcome this bunch of astronauts that made this 12" a versatile tool for every kind of dance floor.

Yougrent, with his hypnotic and full dreamy track (don't give us a chance!), the Hill's "Short Track" which embraces MPC beats and a 303-like evolving bass, alongside the collaboration between our men Dj Rou and Opponent, who build their "Afrowalk" on a never-ending jazzy loop.

On B side you can find the dirty bass driven by Tengrams that make the things more raw, the closing track is from Luckyfeels which creates a fresh house track on a 90's piano.

2CV is a really hairy, non-french post-disco dynamic duo who likes working with sound waves and big animals. They apparently created the band after some spinning and Gin & Tonic sessions in the living room. They are incredibly talented, nice and professional people. They like horses. Their first EP featured horses too. Freud would have something to say about this. MUGWUMP, the master of trans-genre dance music, is at remixing duties. He is awesome but we don't really know if he likes horses too.

A few months after the release of the first reference of his own imprint 'Night Shift Records' and after selling all the stock quickly, Madrid DJ and producer Javi Frias is back again with the second EP on his label. During this time he was number 1 sales at Juno with his first 7"" on Disco Pocho and got a big success with his edit of Susana Estrada classic 'Quitate El Sosten'.A
This time he's back to the razor blade to deliver a four track 12"" entitled 'Move To The Groove', keeping the spirit of classic editing art in good shape. Phonica is proud to present the 'Song For Mr. Lewis', a new record from Austin Ato!

Austin Ato may be an unfamiliar name to most right now but you will have undoubtedly heard his music before. The man behind the mask - Colin Bailey - has a decade of music production experience under his belt using aliases such as Drums Of Death, Frankie Dreams and The Slumberjack. Following on from his recent 12' on Futureboogie, Phonica White unveils the fantastic 'Song For Mr. Lewis EP'.

When it comes to producing electronic music, Colin proves to be a dab hand at a variety of styles. His work as Austin Ato updates the classic house sound utilising live instruments - drums, percussion and keys - alongside electronic elements. At the core of 'Song For Mr Lewis' is a moving speech from civil rights activist Representative John Lewis on gun control in the United States, a message that sadly remains just as important to this day.

On the flip, the dub versions strips everything back to the drums, a raw counterpoint to the deeper original, perfect as a DJ tool but a powerful bare-bones track in itself. Finally, the blissful 'Morning' closes the EP in style, with Colin laying keys over the top of a dubbed out drum machine and bass loop that could just keep going and going. Oh yeah!
