The third release for La Freund Recordings comes from Amsterdam resident Beraber. Consisting of four strong and diverse tracks and a jazzy, piano-heavy remix by Chicago House legend Vincent Floyd, Sun Ritual works just as well in the club as it does at home.

After working on Hiphop and downtempo Electronica under different aliases, this EP sees Baris Akardere venturing into up-tempo territories, marking the debut of his Beraber moniker. All tracks were written and produced during the last two years, combining digital instruments like the Korg M1 and Yamaha DX7 with analog gear like the Roland Juno-6 and Korg MS-10. Kicking things off on the A-side is title track Sun Ritual, a positive and warm tune with lush chords and arpeggiated synths. After a surprising outro, it gets the remix treatment by Deep House pioneer Vincent Floyd, who adds multiple layers to it and delivers a stunning, dreamy eight-minute take on the original.

The flipside opens with Ugly, a soulful club workout with a deep bassline, rolling drums with crisp hi-hats and a hypnotic melody. Next up is Introspect, a serious Electro-tinged cut with heavy Juno chords building up tension as the track evolves. Rounding it up nicely, Forest Rain treats us to an intimate broken-beat affair laced with Rhodes chords and field recordings from Bali.

Groove Line Records are proud to add to their 2015 releases of half-speed mastered re-issue singles with both the extended special disco version and instrumental version of Earth Wind & Fire's 1976 funk bomb Getaway gracing each side of a 180g 12' virgin vinyl disc.

Looking to gain on his groups critical and commercial success from the early 1970s EW&F's main man Maurice White brought in the legendary Charles Stepney, who had tutored him at Chicago's Chess Records in the 1960s, as the co-producer and arranger on their incredible 1976 album Spirit, which opened up with the formidable funk track Getaway.

Co-written by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Bernard 'Beloyd' Taylor (S.O.U.L.) and songwriter Peter Corbelenky around the theme of escapism and self-fulfilment, the primal urgency of Getaway was the ideal composition for White to record with EW&F. White felt the song's energy and positive, uplifting lyrics matched the attitude and ethos of his group perfectly. As a result EW&F created a funk gem both musically and lyrically perfect for the dance floor.

The overwhelming immediacy of the multi-layered, arresting intro/bridge suggests the group had almost been held back in the stalls before being allowed to let rip on this classic recording. The urgency and excitement that envelopes the listener from the very first second is immediately taken up a level by the increasing momentum of the ascending riff which quickly reaches fever pitch by the time the track has only reached eight seconds! EW&F's trademark brass sound then takes centre stage on the first chorus with a punching, staccato horn line while the opening vocals invite you to '...leave today, let's getaway.' Concluding with a twelve note harmony of horns (borrowed' by so many dance floor tracks since) the break neck momentum is maintained in to the first verse which introduces, thanks to arranger Charles Stepney, an even more intricate horn line over a funky, viscous rhythm section before Maurice White, Philip Bailey and Verdine White blend effortlessly to deliver the impassioned vocals. The innate funkiness of the whole group is then exposed in an extended instrumental sequence before the bridge, slightly adapted from the intro, introduces the second chorus and verse. On this pass Stepney then cleverly places a third rousing chorus before the group stretch out on another extended instrumental section before verse three. The intensity is ramped up even more with an otherworldly, two second, stand alone synthesizer part added to the bridge, which heralds the extended chorus outro over which the groups vocalists soar until the track fades. And all of this within just over five minutes.

The clever arrangement on this track and the complex musicianship displayed on it become even more apparent with the 3 minute 50 second instrumental version on the B-side where you can lose yourself within the intricate rhythms. On its release in the summer of '76 Getaway topped the Billboard R&B charts for two weeks and crossed over to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and to this day puts R&B, Funk & Disco fans old and new under its enduring spell.

All Groove Line Records releases are fully licensed and taken from the original master tapes, remastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering, and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy (Mastering Engineer of the Year 2013) using half-speed mastering for optimum sound quality. All vinyl is heavy weight 180g manufactured by Optimal Media in Germany, one of the world's finest pressing plants.

It might be commonplace, but it holds some self-evident truth for the return of Lauer - to the album format that is. Three years after his debut 'Phillips' on Running Back, the melody man from the outback of Frankfurt am Main presents Borndom: a thirteen track trip through a universe that is specifically his. Far from being a stranger to Permanent Vacation with singles like Delta NRG or Donnerlake being heralds of the things to come, it provides a home to their spiritual kinship and ethos.

Rooted in pop music and mixed with the reactance and sound aesthetics of punk, while wearing dancing shoes, you'll be hard pressed to find lots of contemporaries that till a similar field. With a sound signature, a melodic repertoire and an emotional quality that is immediately recognizable, often yearns for vocals (a point of criticism that is minimized as you will see in just a second) and is if nothing else highly individualised, Lauer might one of the thoroughly honest indie dancers out there.

Unlike his other adventures in club music (hardly lets a week go by without a release or a remix for the most critically-acclaimed outfits on this planets either on his own, under the Hotel Lauer umbrella or as being part of Tuff City Kids), his second album makes the most use of these moments and that specific stylistic. Of course, you can find typical high flying Lauer moments like 'Mausback' or 'Hump Acid' or the Nu-Groove-esque desire dubbed'Pal Oh', but the image of a singer-songwriter with a midi-kit prevails. There are miniatures like 'Carpet', the blissful melancholia of the opener 'Crewners', the album's title track that sounds like the lost soundtrack to an eighties sitcom about college nerds and maybe most startling, Borndom's vocal features. 'ESC' (feat. Jasnau) being the proverbial cold wave mating dance in the neon light, while the two songs with Ela take care of romantic highs and lows.

Love Will Fix It: The Best of Ashford & Simpson is a comprehensive double vinyl LP spanning the legendary song-writing duo's own recording career with Warner Bros. Records from 1973 to 1981. The husband and wife team of Nickolas and Valerie established themselves in the 1960s as one of Motown Records many successful hit making partnerships ('Ain't No Mountain High Enough,' 'You're All I Need To Get By'). The duo added even more depth, emotion and musicality to their self-produced recordings.

A length mid-track breakdown spurs on a haunting vocal loop over a back-drop of droning pulses before the track kicks back into what Barnt and Jens are best known for.

Returning to Hypercolour with a second volume of his Sugar Cane Chronicles, Gary Gritness lays down more devastating funk and classy riffing over his trusty Roland 606. After the first volume, released last April, sold out its vinyl run, Gritness delivers more explorations and adventures into his unique and soulful world. Having elusively built his reputation as an outstanding session player, live producer and fantastically dressed Funkateer, Gritness has delivered a handful of releases on labels like Clone Crown Ltd, Nyami Nyami and his own DIY and cassette-only Slikk Tapes. "Steady Choosin" gets downright fusion-jazz and Gritness fires out seductive melodies and latin piano playing of the highest order whilst "Countin Up With Starr" delves into a darker well of synth mania, with a sexual groove reminiscing of Rick James, all the while retaining Gary's signature licks and riffs. "Runner Joe's Revenge" on the flip ramps up the hysteria for a gritty and colossal production that typifies his love of cyberpunk soundtracks and the drama and narrative to be found in this style. Toy Tonics' main men Rhode & Brown come back with a new EP full of their very special, funk influenced, analogue sounding dance tracks. The two guys are part of that new, growing German scene of producers that are interested in the more jazz and analogue orientated and weird side of house music. As their label Toy Tonics is. Five hundred and seventy-three moons ago (give or take), Thunder Tillman and his personal shaman emerged from the ESP Institute with an epic debut EP of baked psychedelics entitled Jaguar Mirror. We now bare witness to the duo's glorious follow-up as they initiate us into the Night School Of Universal Wisdom. These two cosmic jokers possess a vibrant and fearless sense of exploration that knows no boundaries, as if their dreams translate directly into song and their bodies exist merely to channel music they've tapped into from another world, one where influences are uncharted and any instrument imaginable is available at their fingertips. As with Jaguar Mirror, their grasp of all things analogue begins with guitar laying the slightly imperfect foundation for four harmonious narratives, a journey that begins with a fast paced gallop across vast landscapes in search of the Incan god of thunder, Catequil, and gently concludes with us lying horizontally to absorb sporadic beams of healing light. The discourse throughout Night School Of Universal Wisdom is as charming as it is exquisite, orienting the listener with a bouquet of warm tones whilst layering plies of musical dialogue so subtle they require repeated study. Thunder Tillman manage to weave the past into future without diverting to pastiche, successfully merging their characterized production with melodic mastery and a sense of humor, a creative achievement that accredits them as two of our most esteemed scholars.

Christian B and Lavvy Levan's Friday Fox Recordings release the first instalment of their "Sounds from the Den". The vinyl 4 tracker showcasing more underground talent from around the world and hidden gems from the Friday Fox vault. After recent Top 20 Traxsource and Juno tracks this year for Friday Fox this is sure to cause a stir. Including tracks from Christian B and Lavvy Levan themselves, Rudi Botha and Miggza (South Afirca), Fatty Mombassa (UK) and Romi Buns (Canada) there's something to set every dancefloor on fire.

It´s quite some years after Starburst , the first record on Internasjonal the japanese duo Traks Boys, consisting of Kawasaki based producers and Djs Crystal and K404 did for us. But a short 7 Years down the road the magic is still there. "Be With you" and "Weekend Lights" are mesmerizing, sparkling with creativity and beauty. "Be With you" is modern disco cut up of the finest while Weekend Lights is a hypnotic stringinfected warm groover that we can´t get enough of. Finally Weekend (Light) Lover and Friend of the House Axel Boman takes it all home in the biggest of ways.

Having already earned his Balearic stripes some time ago, as one of the resident DJs at We Love.... At Space in Ibiza, Ian Blevins has since relocated to Berlin, and has been immersing himself in the esoteric vibes of the city. On the strength of his latest EP on Futureboogie, this is clearly a good thing, as the 'Round Trip' EP is laden with the deep magical vibes that have also shaped his recent releases on labels like Banoffe Pies, Not An Animal Records, Blind Jacks Journey and ESP Institute. On 'Round Trip', an abundance of driving, arpeggiated synthesizers weave around sparse yet sturdy drumbeats, as thick pads rise and fall in dramatic fashion. Panthera Krause (Permanent acation/Riotvan/Lobster Theremin) is on board for the remix of 'Round Trip', re-shaping the original into a merry, space organ led, tribal dance; with a splash of garage house vibes that soon become immersed in its own synth heaven, it's a cracking remix from the Leipzig based producer. On 'Roland's Rat', Blevins keeps things tight with soaring strings, organ stabs a strolling bassline for a quality jam, whilst 'Can You Count My Dream' is a dense, and cinematic slab of transcendental dance, an almost claustrophobic atmosphere only intensifies the drama and delivers the heat that seals this superb EP from Blevins.

All that changed when Morrison received an email from Spacetalk Records two years ago, asking about the possibility of reissuing 'To See One Eagle Fly', the B-side to one of their 7' singles that has long been a favourite of label co-founder Danny McLewin. Once a deal had been done, Morrison mentioned that he had hours of unissued recordings in his loft; a treasure trove of ultra-rare multi-track master tapes that could be freshly mixed and mastered for release. When the Spacetalk Records' team finally got a chance to listen, they were astonished by the timeless quality of the songs. Put simply, they just had to be released.

The resultant album is a stunning set: an intoxicating glimpse into the world of two previously unheralded master songwriters whose musical vision encapsulates all that was good about Californian music during the late '60s and early '70s. Rooted in the American folk revival and folk-rock movement of the late '60s, the album's 15 thoughtful, heartfelt songs are laden with sly nods to the likes of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Ned Doheny, Michael Deacon, Cy Timmons, Gene Clark and Buffalo Springfield. The tracks were recorded at various times between 1970 and '82 and gives a small glimpse of the duo's total body of unissued work. The release comes with extensive liner notes telling the remarkable story of two lifelong friends and musical collaborators who thought their moment had passed.

A long-term legend of the Detroit scene, Rick Wade is presenting three deep and organic house cuts on Moody Records, written with the soul and finesse that has gained him the reputation as one of the most influential deep house producers. Liem & Eddie Ness infuse their Hamburg-House sound with the remix to Insensitive, while San Proper treats us with a suprise remix which is digitally available through the link etched to the record. Whiskey Disco Small Batch returns with a third installment of floor rockin', love songs. Alma Negra is a Swiss collective that consists of four musically driven friends, the Figuiera Brothers Dersu & Diego whose roots are established firmly in their Cape Verdian heritage, Dario with his half and half Portuguese/Italian mix and finally Mario with Spanish roots.They are all passionate diggers who love playing music from all over the world, something that's evident in their productions as well. Encompassing Jazz, African and Latin sounds to Soul, funk, Disco, House and even Techno. As far as inspiration goes they mention Donald Byrd, Fela Kuti and Theo Parrish.
Their creative output has let them to release on such fine labels as Sofrito, Highlife and most recently Basic Fingers. Fans of Alma Negra include: Gilles Peterson, Ben UFO, Axel Boman, Detroit Swindle, Africaine 808 and Tim Sweeney.

French producer Jules Etienne reappears with a 3 track EP including a Jex Opolis remix on Barcelona's finest disco imprint Apersonal Music. Jules shows his most elaborated work to date evolving to a more band oriented production filled with plenty of live instruments and vocals as seen on "Free as a man" and "Dont want to talk about it". On the B side "Rhythm for the garden part I" is a mad ride driven by live percussions and a drum machine.
