London based Disco outfit Faze Action team up with celebrated Anglo/Brazilian artist, Nina Miranda for proto house crossover. Faze Action have always managed to take different musical traditions and blend them to create sounds that are somehow familiar whilst simultaneously containing the unexpected. Last year's Mangwana, featured long time Faze Action collaborator, Zeke Manyika, singing in his native Zimbabwean Shona over Faze Action's infectious disco production. This time, British/Brazilian singer, artist and all round creative force de majeur, Nina Miranda, takes things further with her invitation to Vamos Pintar or Let's Paint, in Portuguese. On the surface there is the familiar Faze Action restyled proto house but it soon becomes apparent that the brothers have appropriated more than just a Brazilian vocal. Punchy 808 drums and fizzy synths are infused with Brazilian Caixa and Pandaro as if they had always been designed to co-exist. The remixes come from the illustrious Max Essa, whose British born/Tokyo resident background chimes well with the international nature of this latest offering. His Slo-Mo Bubble Dub simmers with Mediterranean sun that reclines into romantic piano flourishes and dubbed out vocals, whilst the Extended Dub manages to draw out the original elements at their original tempo. Faze Action's own Paradise '90 Dub closes the package by keeping close to the original arrangement with added economy and plenty of dub delay of course.

This is the kind of house music that disco built! Bons Records is back with an Ep full of soul. In the ninth release, the Catalan label is nourished by four first-rate artists in an album full of disco and funk samples. Slide A is for Not Me, a young Catalan producer who performs a club version of one of the all-time essential soul records. On the other hand, Madrid-based Javi Frías has made another of his sought after trips through disco music.

Nobody can deny the volatile nature of club music. Most tracks have a short life span and both - DJs and clubbers - can easily forget the 'track of the night' within hours of leaving a club. So it is an exceptional thing if a song remains longer in the minds of clubbers and DJs. And as a producer you certainly hit the jackpot if you write a club track which turns into a 'classic'. A solid tune that is always heard on the floor, no matter what country, no matter in which context and no matter who´s playing it. Keep Pushin' by Hamburg based producer and DJ Boris Dlugosch is exactly this. A timeless classic - a club-anthem! The song was released back in 1995, a time when House music from Germany was not that common on the internation-al club circuit. It was Techno and only Techno. Nevertheless, Boris Dlugosch had a long-lasting reputation with House music simply by playing his favourite records at the legendary FRONT club in Hamburg during the late Eighties. He was one of the first DJs in Germany who was supporting Garage and Deep House music. And an article in a 1994 Billboard issue shines a bright light on Hamburg being The City of House Music in Germany. Boris Dlugosch invited his heroes Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Masters At Work and many others over to Hamburg and became great friends with them. When he met Tony Humphries during the 1995 Winter Music Conference in Miami, the legendary Kiss FM DJ got very excited about 'Keep Pushin' and immediately played the song on his legendary radio show (as did many of the US radio legends).

Long time Is It Balearic artist Max Essa returns with two warm weather bombs.

First up is Mekko Sekko an early evening shuffler full of all max's trademark sounds subtly charming the most horizontal listener onto the dancefloor.

Top post sunset shuffler. Craig Bratley pumps up the bass sounds and drops an lovely vocal accent. We love this remix at IIB a real fav. Reminiscent of an early doors Flying track

The B-side is the stand alone track Aestival a beautifully evocative journey from chilled out bliss do chuggy dancefloor grooving done as only Max can do.

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams cements its reputation as a label to watch with this new compilation of label boss Kenneth Bager's favourite 'Balearic Biscuits' - eight of his tastiest secret weapons for the most eclectic and adventurous dancefloors brought together in one essential vinyl double pack.
The opener comes from Dusseldorf's 'Saloon De Amateurs' resident Jan Schulte aka Wolf Müller aka Bufiman. 'Basedrum Party' is a tribal funky jungle beat with strong percussion. Throw in some weird and wonderful synth stabs and you have a very original and special crowdpleaser - Kenneth's personal favorite record of last year. José Manuel delivers a great percussive tribal groove called 'Macumba' that shifts direction half way through, with a Doors organ vibe washing over the African continent. Mehmet Aslan is on remix duties for 'Mechanical Turk' by Karpov Not Kasparov and his Turkish Bazaar roots shine through in a mesmerising epic nine minute musical journey of pure quality. Jan Schulte once again twists his beats on his remix of Africaine 808 resulting in a hypnotic floorfiller full of energy. Kenneth Bager's electronic disco and Fela-inspired 'Biological Bread' was recorded by him in Copenhagen then mixed by Tuccinelli in Ibiza and recalls an African Kwanza Posse mood. The 10 minute anthemic 'Hafi Deo' from 1985 by African Rumba singer-songwriter Tabu Ley Rochereau is a real winner showcasing his unique way of mixing Congolese folk music with Caribbean beats yet still sounding contemporary. Another special inclusion is the highly sought-after Kenneth favorite 'I Think You Are Boring' which was self-released in 1989 by 380 Volt Electric Papa - timeless drum machine overlaid with some very strange Italo-English lyrics. Finally 'Fork Power' by Grooveman Spot, a thunderous and amazing percussive powerful DJ mixing tool for peaktime heaven on any dancefloor. Leroy Burgess - One of the pioneers of Boogie, a legendary figure in the NYC Disco scene and all-out originator is well known by dance music aficionados across the globe for his output. His LOGG project from the early 80's especially has acquired a cult status amongst diggers, released on Salsoul in 1981 and boasting mixes from Larry Levan the LP became an instant club classic that still commands the dancefloor in 2017. Salsoul is a label that isn't afraid to bridge the gap between their hugely groundbreaking catalogue and contemporary dance music. They understand the impact and influence their music has had on DJ culture and embrace it wholly. Step up UK underground producer Marquis Hawkes who originally approached Salsoul with this set of killer reworkings that had long been private versions that featured in his sets. Having dropped EP's for labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, AUS Music, Houndstooth and many more his name is firmly planted in the minds of record fiends across the nation. Adopting a classic US style of production, using analog gear, dope loops and chops and finessing it all with his own grittiness, Hawkes seemed a good fit to remix 2 stellar joints from LOGG's catalogue. 'Something Else' and 'I Know You Will' both get cut up, re-edited and laced with rock solid drum programming by Hawkes on this sublime 12". Lovingly tweaked with just the right amount of RAWNESS for the dance this one won't leave your bag anytime soon! Pure peak-time sounds here, another example of Salsoul embracing the sounds of now and breathing freshness into their untouchable catalogue. Essential.

On Latino Body Music Vol II Sano continues to explore his musical heritage connecting the dots between tradition and news. For this record he picks up the 'Champeta' style that had its origin in the streets of Colombia. The mix of repetitive rhythm patterns and chants performed by local legends like Hernando Hernandez is an integral part of the huge soundsytem culture that takes place in the streets of Cartagena. By adding small hints to contemporary western club culture like a classic house piano, or an acid baseline Sano reinterprets the tracks for our dancefloors without loosing any of the original hypnotic flavour. Cut This Way is the second outing of the year for North London producer Smashed Atoms on the Magic Circles Music label. The title track takes us back to early 80s New York, featuring a sassy old-school female rap over a mid-paced strut, and has already featured in sets from disco legend Greg Wilson and Hot Digits head-honcho Fingerman. On the flip side, Lost Someone locks down a rolling groove with interweaving synths and a nagging bassline.

Saying goodbye to the hot months and hello to cooler ones with an Indian summer six-tracker by a new artist, Lovers, whom you first met on an LPH WHITE comp from July, LPHWHTDD.
Juicy, joyful disco built around classic motifs (funky, fidgety rhythm guitar; glammy strings; bright horns), but that occupies a squarely modern space thanks to the heavy filter action, a pastiche of samples, and arrangements as tight as a taught tom.

Andre Bratten was born in Oslo and grew up in a suburb of the Norwegian capital, which borders on the deep, dark Scandinavian forest. Like most kids in the late 1990s, he was bitten by the hiphop bug, but he also got turned on by the Led Zeppelin records he picked out from his father's record collection. He's broadminded enough to be into everything from the Norwegian electronica masters Røyksopp to Metro Area, Sigur Rós, Eno, Cluster and Weather Report. Currently dwelling in the heart of the city, his efforts with the synthesizer coincided with a huge boom in Norwegian electronic music, his productions recently came to the attention of Norwegian 'cosmic disco' mogul Prins Thomas and his Full Pupp colony. Andre's tracks share the exploratory vibe of the 80s synth pop pioneers, and misfit electronic pop musicians like John Foxx, who were forced learning to sculpt new sounds with new tools. Yet he updates those sounds to a contemporary rhythm matrix, in parallel with the dayglo analogue dance music of Lindstrøm, Todd Terje and Prins Thomas himself - and he just happens to share the central Oslo studio space used by that glorious trinity. But Andre has always known his own mind and was never going to be content with being just another anonymous insect in the logpile. So his debut album, Be A Man You Ant, is a string individual statement, his 'I am Spartacus!' moment. It computes almost infinite variations on the sounds he could extract from a single modular synthesizer - 'the limitations are inspiring', he says. So you'll find squelchy bugs in the bassbin, weird analogue squeegee smears, bright drum machine splats and the occasional significant pause. The spaces in his music are at least as important as what fills it.

Our Parisian edit friend Reverend P hits us with a 4 track EP loaded with some serious boogie and disco heat.
Concentrating on the sounds of Gladys Knight (A Side) and George Duke (B Side), Reverend P decided to edit 'em not once but twice...ouble action = double fun :) The A-side tracks are two uptempo numbers with Gladys while the flip comes with one mid tempo boogie tune and a high energy disco cut from Mr Duke.

Has Jesse Rose reached legendary status yet He's certainly made a good attempt at it. The course of his career has seen him collaborating with internationally-acclaimed artists like Henrik Schwarz or Switch, producing talents such as Hot Chip and Chiddy Bang, and having three labels that have created careers for artists such as Oliver $, Riva Starr & Homework to name but three. Then there's the remixes... from Bob Marley, SND, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, to this years smash of Rufus 'Desert Night' (BBC Radio1 Essential New Tune). Even more adventurous & expansive are Jesse's own genera melding dance floor productions (go to Discogs there are 39 pages of them!). After having a hand in prototyping the early sound of tech-house, to chopping up & twisting the template on Derrick Carter's Classic, to his infamous productions on Dubsided, Jesse's most recent foray has been his classy modern take on house on his own Made To Play and Play It Down imprints. And we haven't even started discussing his game-changing compilation 'Body Language' on Get Physical, six-year residency at Berlin's techno-mecca Panorama Bar, Kiss FM radio show, Made For The Night parties, signage to Roc Nation/TSZ, or his BBC Essential mixes... One thing is for sure- Jesse has never stopped putting out tracks that move dancefloors the world over and has never allowed anyone to box him into one genre. If Jesse Rose could be remembered for one thing it's that he has always pushed for something new... which now takes us to his latest bomb 'FLY TONIGHT'. A modern take on a classic sound, 'Fly Tonight' honors the foundations of French house with a heavy and honorable nod to Thomas Bangalter's Roulé records

The latest installment on Roam Recordings features NOZZ aka Damon Jee aka Jérôme Da Silva. Most known as Damon Jee for his widely acclaimed remixes, Jérôme has been branching out with outstanding originals under his NOZZ alias. In his Misfits EP for Roam NOZZ delivers two excellent new productions. The title track is a cool rock infused guitar laden stunner with class and attitude while Hippy Home is a dreamer of a tune perfect for greeting the sun or losing yourself in a closed eyed dance session. The Misfits EP comes with two top remixes from The Emperor Machine and Autarkic. The first remix is a tour de force performance with a sound that is unmistakably The Emperor Machine - intricate, dubbed out, lasers, and superb production. Autarkic's version of Hippy Home adds an eclectic edge to the EP with a cacophony of orchestral and quirky sounds that somehow perfectly keep in line with the stripped down feel of this remix.The Misfits EP brings together three artists at the top of their game and is a fine addition to the ever growing Roam Recordings catalog.

Following on from Plus Instruments Love Is Enough Remixes EP comes an accompanying Dubs EP, featuring deeper reversions by Jamie Paton, Luke Solomon, Khidja and joining them with a breaks meets dubwise, Alphonse. Truus de Groots return to her Plus Instruments project after a 30 years break saw the label pick up her off-kilter House roller, Love Is Enough for one of our (e)special remixing packages. Here then, we turn out attention to everyones favourite, the Dubs. Starting with label mainframe, Jamie Paton, his Cloudy Dub-Out pulls his mix through modular prisms for heads down basement rumble. Echo chamber vocals, twisted syncopations and a bass to breakdown walls, this is Patons true calling - dub to get lost in and rightful to kick off the EP. Next guest remixer de jour, Luke Solomon stays close to his original bumpin remix, warping the vocal with skatntrippin wonk, all atop a funk bass line and riding shuffle percussion. Cha cha cha. On the flip, Khidja triumph again with a tougher version. Not a straight up dub of their remix, this pushes a nod to colder (wave) vibes, with industrial percussion riding high on their trademark production. Hard kick atop refrained synths, growing out of Eastern protoid routes to glimpse their future. Finally, mystery man Alphonse comes in from the dark to close with a killer breaks inspired dub. Utilising the originals bass with an angular break, the intricate cut up percussion, Theremin and vocals all glide, keeping the head and feet (jazz) dancing for some (free) party sound system love. Aiby returns to Vizual with an amazing EP, albeit without the Noise. This solo project is deep, dark and freaky and showcases Aiby's love for vintage gear. Yet there's nothing old about these tracks — Aiby's sound is fresh and forward looking with hard driving beats that have just the right amount of wiggle. These tracks sound great played loud and are perfect for deep and dirty late nites.A forthcoming Iz & Diz remix of 'You Need A Freak' will round out the project quite nicely.

Five years deep into the game, all nine lives fully intact: Utrechtian feral feline Larry De Kat prowls his way onto Pets... And we really don't need to tell you how purrrrfectly apt this debut union is. Fresh from launching his own Katnip imprint (and putting the final touches on a hush-hush disco edit series), Pets have managed to prise four of his finest, broadest creations from his creative claws. Each one floor-bound, each one backing up the hype he's enjoyed from the likes of Axel Boman, Mark E and Laurent Garnier, each one making us feel like cats who got the creamiest of creams... 'I Know You Can Hear Me' takes the lead on a more direct tip that you might expect from De Kat. Big pumps wrapped in a fine vibe balance of Detroit and Parisian house textures, but done with Larry's signature dubby, jacking style, it's the perfect paws-sitive statement of intent. Slinking deeper into the EP, 'Naakte Groove' lives up to its nude name with a lean-but-warm bass riff that purrs with finesse around a straight-up strutting drum arrangement. So much fun in such a tight, detailed groove, you'll want this on loop forever. 'Amlou' stalks up behind with dusty, thumping charm. Rolling and scratching like it was 20 years younger, there's an innate physicality in the drums that snaps you out when the big disco hook rides in from nowhere. Finally we hit 'She Doesn't'. The dubbiest groove of the set, all eyes are on that bulbous sub, rippling synths and precision tuned snare shot. Hypnotic, heavy, unhurried and heads down... These sounds are fur real. Like all the best stray cats, expect Larry to return to Pets as and when he pleases.

Sol Power Sound is proud to present their first release of 2016, a 3-song EP by recent Finnish expatriate, Tom of Brooklyn. After a massive release on Razor-n-Tape in 2015 (and slight change of moniker), the ever-mysterious Tom delivers a 3-song EP of breezy disco grooves inspired by his recent cruise of the islands.

On Theme Song from Deep Cock, Tom double-teamed with Deep Sang (of the Sol Power All-Stars). The tag-team duo came up with a tight and groovy title sequence for a film that will likely never see the light of day.

Look at Me is a moody slice of disco goodness that Tom put together for his now-legendary sunrise sets on the ship.

Make Me Wonder is a warm-weather jam that fills the B-side of the record. A seemingly endless funky groove, it was Tom's secret weapon at his all-day beach parties in port. He tells us he can't wait to play it at outdoor jams in his new home of Brooklyn, NY (and at Fire Island soirees this summer).

A1.I Can Feel Your Body Rock has shades of Gary's Gang, Tony Lee and Softhouse Co, though none of those are sampled or stolen from.The JN Extended Mix combines boogie bass, 80s electronics, chopped vocals and old school piano for an energetic stormer which has a lot more panache than most. It's danceable but it's also full of musicality and made with a lot of love. A2. Dutch duo Daniel Leseman & Hans Peeman have only been producing as Fouk since 2014 with their debut release for Outplay Records immediately catching the attention of Boiler Room. An acclaimed remix of Lay-Far for Sweden's Local Talk Records and their Kill Frenzy EP for Detroit Swindle's Heist imprint plus more remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak and Razor-n-Tape cemented the duo as ones to watch for the future. Now they deliver a remix for Z Records taking the title track from The Sunburst Band's classic 1998 debut album and giving the bassline driven funk cut an energetic jazzy 4/4 makeover.
B1. Sean's It's Time album was universally well received in the house community, and rightly so, it was a strong debut featuring an array of talented vocalist and strong songs.
For this EP the tracky 90's style 'Holding On' gets reworked by Crackazat who keeps the original vibe adding Smack Productions style keys and his trademark jazzy, warm production to Sean's original. Crackazat has come to the attention of dj's including Disclosure, Detroit Swindle and Homework through his releases on Futureboogie and more recently Sweden's Local Talk where he released his latest album Crescendo.
B2. jIs exclusive to this Release and features a remix from the mighty Nachtbraker rounding off the package in his usual style.

Originally released in 1990 the Sun & Moon Mix of 'Walk On Air' has taken on near mythical status as a benchmark record that brought together strands of Ambient, Deep House, Techno and Trance. The B side sees the original Amphibious Carbine mix joined by two previously unreleased Dubs unearthed from the original DAT tapes.

Following the success of last years Playgroup 'Previously Unreleased' album and its critically-acclaimed run of nine weekly 12' vinyl EPs, Trevor Jackson has compiled a second volume of 20 tracks (11 unheard and 9 previously vinyl only) released as a Limited Edition Double CD and 6 track vinyl sampler on Nov 3rd via Yes Wave records.
The music featured is a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. A hedonistic mix of raw Disco, Dub, Funk, Dancehall. Electro, New Wave & Post Punk that all still sound as relevant today as they did when initially recorded for the debut PLAYGROUP album during 1997 - 2001.

Esquivel is a well know name in the Latin American electronic music scene, since he started his residency at the mythical club EXTASIS in Montevideo. After 25 years of career and extensively touring through Uruguay, Brasil and Argentina, Eduardo has settled in México city with residencies in the acclaimed BLANCO COLIMA and CASA DISCO.DUBMASTERS was our first choice for a Remix candidate, and we could not be more stoked with the outcome. The spacey pads and reverberating drums of the intro, already announce the departure to a cosmic destination well know by all familiar with their previous releases on our label. The tight bassline provides the classic 'Electro' background for the wanky guitar chops to flourish into a flock of migrating melodies that fly in all directions in the sky above.EDDIE C, the Canadian / Berlin resident 'SLO-MO DISCO MAESTRO', closes the EP and puts the cherry on top, adding a latin feel good climate to the package. This June Session Victim returned to Delusions Of Grandeur imprint with their third studio album.Listen To Your Heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their Hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in San Francisco's Room G Studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 LP See You When You Get There. Here we present the third of three LP samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew.
We kick things off with Almost Midnight, another uplifting summer jam loaded with trademark Session Victim energy and positive vibrations. Next up we have Castle For Sale which drops the bpm's for a dub influenced, spaced out jam session sounding like King Tubby and Nightmares On Wax getting stuck in the proverbial lift with a large bong for company.
Flipping over we have a Head Over Heels, which goes heavy on the lush orchestral strings and a brilliant bouncing Moog bassline bringing a deft touch. Finally we're treated to Thermal Explorer, which incorporates some wonderful Larry Heard-esque keyboards for a perfect wind-down track to close the release.
