urban is an essential detroit late night jam for me. i get chills hearing this. i remember when it first came out, on a double pack. very rare raw and chunky and beautiful. all these elements. this track sounds like how theo deejays, to me. tweekin the knobs, EQ-ing the bass and hi's, til we couldnt take it anymore, as he bounced his head. probably one of the most eclectic deejays. he's incredible and so is this track

A 3D sculptor born to parents that were also heavily involved with art, she moved from her home in Izmir Turkey to study in New York. There she met the Wolf + Lamb duo, quickly moving into the infamous Marcy Hotel and immersing herself into the colourful creative worlds of music and art. Her light installations have been featured at destinations as diverse as Lily Allen's Lucy in Disguise vintage clothing store in London, cult art festivals in her homeland of Turkey and have taken her on many pilgrimages to the vast deserts of Nevada for Burning Man. In fact Zev (the Wolf of the duo) bought her the first set of LEDs for the festival. An installation is also a permanent fixture at the Marcy.

The second remix 12inch for Jazzanova's 'I Human' is another stunning collection of reworks by some of today's finest club music producers.
Over the last few years Danny Berman aka Red Rack'em has built a steady and devoted following (including Gilles Peterson) - primarily with original material for labels like Tirk, Undertones or Bergerac and also his own imprint Red Rack'Em. Assigend by Jazzanova for one of his first remixes the now Berlin based British DJ/producer did more than just a good job. His remix has the Berlin deephouse stamp all over it but is still edgy enough to stand out in the middle of any DJ set - even outside of Berlin.

Its summertime again and Nang dons the swimming trunks and packs a case of 100% pure Ibiza spirit with the third volume of their shimmering Beach Disco compilation. This year when it comes to selection and mixing we are 100% true to the sun, with our favourite Canaries Islands based producer EVER at the helmYes folks Ilya Santana has entered the Cabana.!

Diynamics new member duo Hunter/Game suprise with their first Diynamic release. The two young boys from Italy, Emmanuele Nicosia and Martino Bertola, bringing a really nice groove with them! Its exactly the sound, Diynamic stands for: Deep Basslines combined with groovy, harmonic vocals add up to the newest Diynamic EP "Reckless Lady".

A classically trained pianist from the age of six, Jarrah McCleary grew up in the sticky heat of the Northern Territory, Australia. His previous project, The Dirty Secrets saw the band working between Australia and London with iconic producer and engineer, Nick Terry (Klaxons, Libertines). After working on ideas for a new record for over two years, in early 2011, McCleary declared a new album and boarded the airplane, bound for Los Angeles. Between splashes of yacht rock, trop-pop and nods to Peter Gabriel (thanks to the iconic '80s Yamaha DX7 synth), a short summer experience in the 'city where dreams are made' lead to tracks tinged with hints of hopeful house music strewn with the sleaziness of Venice beach and too much free poured tequila. And so, Panama was born. Magic is a modern summer anthem. And what better way to celebrate the party season than some bonus remix action by the worlds most avid dance enthusiasts The Sydney-based quartet join forces with DFA heavyweights and Panama fans, Midnight Magic and Gavin Russom (The Crystal Ark) on remixing duties for their debut release.

Shir Khan & Exploited reveal the fourth chapter of their infamous Black Jukebox series featuring N (aka Noir).

Here we go with the launch of MB Disco's sub label. It's a vinyl only label which will release all kind of edits from the coolest people all around the globe. We keep the family name MB and add EDITS, so, MB EDITS is the name.

First out is an edit of Chris Rea's Josephine. This Balearic classic hasn't been done too many times so we thought, let's do it. The two edits comes from Chris Coco and Dalminjo and both of them follow in the footstep of Todd Terje's edit of On The Beach. So expect two mixes which hasn't destryoed the original feeling of Rea's versions.

The third EP on Visky Recordings is brought to you by a fresh and talented upcoming producer,
dj and music lover hailing from Grodno in Belarus. Schmoltz has had a long-term affair with music
which got him to collecting records and fiddling with music making software and hardware.
Growing up as a metalhead kid, he came the disco route and later to be mesmerized by the
soulful powerful funky and electric sounds of Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Stars on 45 and
whatever else was to be found in the piles of soviet Melodiya records. Schmoltz delivered three
great jazzy, deep & soulful tracks for his debut 12inch on czech based Visky Recordings.
On top of that the B side offers a remix from Ferrispark label head Scott Ferguson. Scott gave
to Raindrops a totally different feel and energy in a way of his own.

Martin Brodin's third single from the forthcoming album which is due for this summer.

Second one for you who forgot was Strings Attack, with remixes from Headman and Ilya Santana.

Agogo is a track with three different phases or sections. It starts as a slow intro bubbling deep house song for the first two and half minutes. After this it transforms to a spaced out disco-funk theme and then goes into the rhythmic break section. It keeps going until it ends up with the deeper part again. All in all a groovy track indeed.
William Bottin was pitched to choose a song from the album and this is the one he loved the most. He went into the studio creating what we would call, a typical Bottin remix. He takes us on a journey with lots of small actions going on throughout the track. Evrything is very sublime and you have to check out the full song to appreciate it. A deep-disco-spaced out remix is the result. Second remix comes from fellow Swede. Copycat. As a contrast to the original and Bottin's remix, he beefs it up a bit with a funky Nudisco-house twist.

Marius Vareid revisists the title track of last year's debut album in two version here and other than the connotation that 'telemark' evokes, its perfect summer bizniss in the '12 edit version' thanks to its bobbing flanger chords, the unhurriedly striding bass melody and the carefree clattering percussion. the Klubb Version sticks to its promise, keeps the trademark chords but they sound way more athletic in its sparser environment of beefed up drums and frantic percussion. powered by a slightly moody feeling bassline and its buoyant, exuberant synth melodies the brand new 'il tempo gigante' on the flip is a prime example of the scintillating, heady mixture of disco roots, house and dub antics. as an extra bonus Prins Thomas adds a tropical-sticky interpretation of 'villa farris' ( originall version on fp024 ).

After the club tropicana sounds of Bang the bomb its time to roll the sleeves up and get down to the business end of this trip. Touching down on planet Subturanus in search of the real underground shit Light sound dark do not disappoint digging deep into its core and excavating strange alien like sonics which had previously been lying dormant. Onyx ''Robot world'' kicks things and what a start! hailing from Boston Massachusetts this 1982 cassette only release is almost completely unknown to all but a few. So ahead of its time with its production and ''Robots are taking over the world'' drone vocal this is an absolute must for people who are fascinated with the history of house music and is surely worthy as a missing piece on the ever expanding jigsaw puzzle.

Erick Morillo & SYMPHO NYMPHO take you through an electronic musical spectrum from the underground to peak time floor fillers. Undeniable high quality producers flood this release with Alex Tepper, Radio Slave, Nic Fanciulli, Derrick Carter and Denis The Menace & Syke'N'Sugarstarr with their seriously hot track 'World In your Hands' bridging the gap into the more electro sounds of John Dahlback & SYMPHO NYMPHO, with touches on techno from Clio and Chris Colburn. This really is a cool musical soundtrack to summer 2012 and beyond, for both DJs and music lovers, all expertly compiled and mixed by legend Erick Morillo and SYMPHO NYMPHO (Erick Morillo, Harry Romero, Jose Nunez). Don't miss it.

Mario basanov, THE Lithuanian super producer is coming back for more and for showing the other side of his multifaceted musical persona. Best known for catchy hooks, pop melodies and vocal productions, Mario delivers here two slow burners in form of Closer and Something About. Darker and deeper than one might expect Mario Basanov is at his best here. On remix duties are two fellows from the other side of Mario's studio wall - a dynamic duo of Saulty and Bradka better known as Downtown Party Network. The combo pitched up the tempo, beefed up the groove, and even added some euphoric stabs and strings for enhanced dance floor usability of the title track. Best Kept Secret - hidden sounds of Vilnius House scene uncovered & presented by Vidis. Vital Sales Points: - A follow up to massive We Are Child Of Love single on Needwant - Releases on Silence Music, Future Classic, Needwant - Remixes for Metronomy, Crazy P, Robert Owens

Short version: Swedish new school electronic disco music. One side with vocals by Kicki Halmos and a melancholic swing, the other one is slightly Man Parrish-ish and features Viking muscle beats. Both tweaked, edited and mixed by a certain Terje Olsen from another Viking country. Long version: During a long and cold night in Stockholm some moons ago, a mysterious 7 was given to Running Back's chief A&R. He liked it so much that he wanted to convince the world of its greatness, got more copies, played them back to back, gave it out to DJs and producers and there a certain Terje Olsen decided that he could prolong the all too short 7 versions into a 12. And here we are. Original versions released on DRIFTER STHLM by Samo Forsberg. Do some popping, locking & down-dogging!

The finale in Maylee Todd's 'Hieroglyphics' remix saga is this limited-edition 12' vinyl release with two totally different yet equally slamming treatments of her recent single: a head-nodding, hypnotic joint from next-generation beatmaster Tall Black Guy; and a percussive tech-house banger from Toronto production duo The MAKEOVER. This new release follows up on the now sold-out 7' remix by Kon & The Gang that had more of a disco boogie vibe.

Permanent Vacation presents Bobby Bell, a super hot newcomer from Sweden!
While people are getting more and more frightened by each other; building walls instead of bridges, Bobby Bell tries to explore what makes us unified. He collects pieces of rhythm and senses that seem to have fall into oblivion in the city. The pieces that are the very constituents to keep the environment where we're living soulful and vibrant.
Bobby Bell thinks that the warmth and cold atmosphere of a city best can be described with crappy vintage synthesizers.

Jonny Rock Silent partners edits takes volume 14 of the black series, with new dancefloor bombs from our friend Jonny Rock, the venerable new master of the cut: C-Edits & welcome our new silent partners; Adriatique and Audino.

A long time coming, the first EP from the mysterious duo Bernadott finally reaches us. The Golem first heard those tracks last summer and noticed his body was moving beyond his control! He therefore decided he should immediately enroll these beat-smiths before the competition took notice.

The new soul sensation from Holland - could follow Amy Winehouse and Cee-Lo into the big time.' - Craig Charles

It's a bold move to describe someone as the new, male equivalent of the late Amy Winehouse - but those really are the best words for the Motown-revisited sounds of Bo Saris.

Holland-by-way-of-Ladbroke Grove singer Bo Saris has made quite the impression in his native Netherlands, but wanted a change from being a big fish in a little sea, and is now looking set to break onto the UK scene with his powerful vocal register and soulful intonations.

The influences on 'She's On Fire' are clear from the outset - Bill Withers, Prince, Marvin Gaye and, of course, Amy herself. The funk bass, the reserved riffs of the blues guitar and the almost Doors-esque organ all intertwine to provide one terrific backing track, but the real beauty of this single is Saris' voice.

In an era of auto-tune finding its way onto even the most left field songs, you could be forgiven for believing the art of singing is dead, but the breathy falsetto that pushes through this young singer's lips can safely assuage such an assumption. With the gasps of a young Michael Jackson, the funk of James Brown himself, and all the updated soul glory that surrounds fellow singers Cee-Lo Green and Aloe Blacc, Saris as a singer transcends the confines of any one era.

The elements that make up 'She's On Fire' are anything but complex, but its Motown vibes and lo-fi production merge to form something that's both rich and as authentic as anything Detroit's finest could put out.

Already getting the thumbs up from Craig Charles with a play on his 6Music Funk & Soul show, 'She's On Fire' is ready to wow the rest of us on its release on Monday 16th July.

A few years ago I took a journey to Europe searching for a new sound.

People along the journey had been telling me about this guy from Tropea, Italy called DJ Steve (named after his favorite musician, Stevie Wonder).
He's a butcher there by day, but at night he's the DJ at a club called Casablanca. I made my way to this tiny town in the south of Italy and found DJ Steve.
His 12 hour DJ sets opened my eyes. This guy was the real deal. He was playing dubplates, vinyl, cassettes, and reel-to-reel's. All special edits he had done over the years.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
In late November of 2011 DJ Steve finally made his first visit outside of Italy and came to New York. He came on my Beats In Space radio show and blew everyone away. It was one of the most listened to mixes of the year. While he was in New York, I was able to record in a few of the dubplates of edits he had done. Those recordings are how we arrived at the release of "DJ Steve's Special Cuts #1 & #2". With this release we also started a new sub-label for Beats In Space Records. B.I.S. Records, Inc is for any of the edits or bootlegs we might come across. Expect to hear more from DJ Steve soon.

Within the whole 'I Human' remix package this is probably the funkiest 12inch of them all. It's a gathering of the funkiest remixers/producers at the moment.
Just having finally released their debubt album 'EFUNK' - Charles Levine and Eli Goldstein aka Soul Clap are considered the dons of the funkier side of house music. With tons of remixes they packed in their hand luggage over the last three years or so they still came up with a rather original idea for this one right here. Deconstructing the track to bits and piecing it back together to form a stormer for the dancefloor. Hands up in the air guaranteed!

Persnickety Sounds is here to funk-ti-fy your world!
In this era of Nü-Disco, Space Disco, Cosmic Disco, Disco House and shit, there must be a beacon of quality to light the way and lead the faithful back to a place where good grooves matter and realness is holding court.
Let the labels fall and just get it movin'.

Somewhere between his East London studio 'The Odyssey' and a digital fantasy known as Metropolis, Quaid makes raw, emotive electronic music with just the right amount of analog freak.
Referencing his formative years spent listening to Prince and The Egyptian Lover and filtered via the deeper side of Detroit - the result is irrepressible machine funk.'.

Golf Channel dip into the groundbreaking work of Spike once again. This time the title track from his 1983 New
Germany LP takes up the A Side, a filmic, taught drum machine and string piece. On the flip, DJ NATURE steps
up again to deliver a great rework, sounding not unlike Theo Parrish taking a pop at Punk Funk

Now, a year after he celebrated the success of his LP Good Morning Midnight, Niko Schwind ups the heat on Stil vor Talent with the versatile We are the Future EP that showcases a specatacular sonic progression while remaining true to what Niko does best: melodic house music. On 'All I Want', Niko lures you into a deep abyss aided by a straight groove and rapid vocal stutters until a swampy bassline, subtle piano melodies and a promiscuous female voice swallow you to the point of no return. Beautifully melancholic, yet floorfriendly, this A1 is bound to leave its mark on international dance floors. The same can certainly be said of 'We are the Future', a Schwind anthem that boils over with positive engery. While the excellent percussion highlights Niko's craftsmanship, Lil' Magdalene's jazzy voice should enchant even the biggest doubter. The flip side is equally rewarding: while a cheerful interplay between a piano-based groove, serious bass line, choppy vocals and one hell of a break invites us all to throw our hands in the air on ‚Fellow', the final track ‚Get Down' should literally take down the last man standing at the after hour due to dubby chords and wonky snyths. The future is looking bright this summer!

One day while sharpening his hip-hop skills, the Prince sets up shop in his favorite studio; an oversized king bed in a pile of synthesizers, drum machines and keyboards. An abundance of classic samples overflowing with soulful fills inspired Baby Prince to record one of his most sensitive vocal messages to date. An ideas man, Baby Prince struggled to get the mix right and tight. So Lonely C swoops in, hits record and lays down the track in one clean shot. Ooohwee! 'I Want To Squeeze You' is born. The PillowTalk boys heard the new noise and accepted remix duties without question. Their results, The 'Phat Philly Remix,' is a timeless house version with a powerful vocal addition from Sammy D himself. Lace up yer raving kicks.
