Seminal early 80's HI-NRG / Synth disco emanating from the gay clubs, bath houses and discotheques of San Francisco. A truly original and groundbreaking sound and style helmed by studio genius Patrick Cowley. Heavily informed by sonically charged science fiction fantasy and the darkest corners of nightlife, 'Mind Warp' is a cornerstone of electronic music that still astonishes today. Originally released on Cowley's own Megatone imprint in 1982 the album marks a definitive change in direction of post-disco dance music, undoubtedly inspired by European artists such as Kraftwerk, Moroder, Yello and more. A huge influence on what was to come through in later years via house and techno music, 'Mind Warp' is a bonafide classic and every single self respecting music lover or DJs home should have a copy!

It might come as a surprise, but the „Boot and Heel EP“ might be the first Tiger & Woods product that could be called unashamedly Italo disco. Think Den Harrow and old school CBS radio programming rather than the Italian boogie side of things that used to be the prevalent influence in the Roman’s studio work. Here we go with four tracks that are sharp as knives. Beautifully crafted, perfectly arranged and smitten with the charm of positivity, it’s the perfect soundtrack to the fading summer and next year’s hedonistic club season. Always remember: you gotta change to stay the same.

We're definitely not looking for the generic "soul sample meets a 4x4 beat" kind of edit. ‘Endlessly’ sets itself at ‘chugger pace’, as its mechanical body funk groove teases out a myriad of micro vocals and steadfast melodies, whilst its counterpart, ‘Dublessly’, goes down the rabbit hole and smothers itself in spring reverbs and delays for a transcendental pilgrimage!

The disco drums of ‘Don’t Mess My Head’ get an industrial touch; shades of electro and New York no-wave are evoked on this powerhouse track, which in turn gets a re-rub from San Francisco’s Dave Aju, who jacks it up a notch, adding a layer of energy and intensity that really seals of this charming release.

A loose ensemble, Liquid Canoe is the brainchild of Wolfgang Matthes, a lost Angelino who’s swapped the rush and push of a mega city for the space of the Pacific Northwest - and listening to this eight track offering, you’ll realise that space is the place. Armed with an array of vintage synths and programmed rhythms, Wolfgang sketched out a slew of inter dimensional transmissions, inspired by the commune electronics and space rock of 70s Germany and inhabited by the spirit of the boogie. Inviting friends to drop by and lend their own instrumental skill, Wolfgang quickly turned Liquid Canoe into a true collaboration. Finalised in a converted stable on Galiano Island, the LP is a perfect marriage of the electronic and organic, shimmering arps and spheric synth bass intertwined with American primitive guitar, nuanced hand percussion and glassy chimes. As this mind expanding collection stretches out towards infinity, you’ll hear Floyd-ian funk, cosmic dub, tangerine daydreams and micro-dosed ambience, all imbued with the memories of New York lofts, Bay Area warehouses, skyscraping pines or the world wide web of fungi. Apricot Ballroom co-founder Nonna Fab brings us the second release on their eponymous label, with the all original 4-tracker 'Close Encounters'. The fruits of almost a year's work from start to finish, it features a range of sounds taking in early house influences alongside their usual brand of psychedelic disco, as well as a very special collaboration with TC and the Groovy Family front-woman Pariss Elektra on the flip.

since Ramona presented all her disciples work throughout the first Lifesaver compilation in 2013, it's now time for another episode of togetherness. Summoning all of her artists around Frankfurt and those who live around the world, Ramona is now ready to present the Lifesaver Compilation 2. 

Kicked off by one of the Frankfurt young guns, the compilation leans into a melody-driven warm-up with a slight hint of analogue soul - "Digital Revolution" by Orson Wells. Next up is the Italian-born and now Berlin-based Massimiliano Pagliara. His contribution "Phasing Down The Sea" enriches the second Lifesaver installment with some of his signature synth-lines paired with a classic chicago-driven beat. The secret weapon from Kilianstädten also known as Mr. Melody, who goes by the name of Lauer, delivers a dark-italo and wave-ish piece topped off with the famous Lauer-craziness called "Language". Roman Flügel, the man of the hour, reinvents classic UK bleep-techno with Tender Hooligan". Another member of the young-guns-club, Chinaski, brings his certain level of synthesizer-love to the table with a track called Futuresex". Portable, one of Ramona's most delicate flowers, teamed up with Lcio again - together they created a hieroglyphic and deep-driven piece of music: "Dive In". TCB, also known as the only member of The Citizen's Band, delivers "Byrdmap", a solid piece of spheric deep and broken music. "Brainwashed" by Benedikt Frey marks the end of the compilation and simultaneously shows his dimension of futuristic dark-disco acid-madness. 

The Lifesaver compilation will be released as a double 12"-vinyl. Additionally Live At Robert Johnson will release an Extension-10"-vinyl containing two brand new tracks by the infamous Hotel Lauer and Tuff City Kids end of March 2015.

The single "Love Will Bring It" is an original disco track involving the powerful South African singer Natalie Nova. "There's Never Been (No One Like You)" is a cover of the underground disco-boogie favorite, and the third track is a garage spin of the classic "Keep The Fire Burning" with the warm vocals of UK house singer Natasha Watts. Singer-Songwriter, FeMCee, ‘Spokenword’ BEFFTA Award Winner 2014, Performance Poet, Author and Artist-Tutor LyricL, is a jubilant, exultant performer, whose animated fresh style exudes joy, in a euphoric and beautiful way!

Born in London to Nigerian parents, LyricL's early and enduring musical influences came from home. A drummer/DJ Daddy, who “loved African Jazz, Gospel and High Life, entertained with chest-tap percussion, beatbox and skillfully played his hands as wind instruments, as Mommy dances and sings in her own key of happiness to this very day.”

Wilderness Festival, Southport Weekender, North Sea Jazz, MuseumsQuartier Austria, StreetFest London, Sabolai Music Festival Ghana and the Toronto Jazz Festival, have embraced her creative works. An eclectic catalogue that spans Hip-Hop, House, Jazz through to Afro and Broken Beat with a soulful edge, stirring grooves enhanced by her lyricism and Spokenword.

Unapologetic originality, lyrical dexterity and openness

Parcels have always been a band of extreme light and shade: they’re from surf hotspot Byron Bay in Australia but they’ve been holed up in grimy nightlife utopia Berlin for years; their sweet-as-honey vocal harmonies rival the Beach Boys but they can also turn their live shows into slamming techno rave-ups. The twentysomethings stand out amid the current musical landscape: a soulful rock band that looks like it’s stepped out of a postcard from 1970s California, all flares, moustaches and shaggy hair. They’re a classic band for atypical times.

Since Crommelin, keyboardist Louie Swain, keyboardist/guitarist Patrick Hetherington, bassist Noah Hill and drummer Anatole ‘Toto’ Serret formed in 2014, fresh out of school, they’ve struck upon a singular sound, weaving together gossamer disco and exotica, soft rock and Sixties pop with a focus on uplifting grooves. Their seductive style has translated into 100,000 album sales worldwide, over 200 million streams, cross-continental tours, shows with French royalty Phoenix and Air, a US TV debut on Conan O’Brien, a Coachella slot and a debut single that was produced by none other than Daft Punk, who saw them live in Paris and ushered them into their studio.

After two EPs, 2015’s Clockscared and 2017’s Hideout (the band’s penchant for smooshing words together is a result of a broken keyboard when they submitted their first demo), Parcels’ acclaimed self-titled debut album came in 2018 and was called “timeless and devilishly fun'' in a five-star NME review. They followed it in 2020 with an impressive live album, Live Vol.1, recorded at Hansa Studios, the legendary studio where Iggy Pop and David Berlin hung out during their Berlin years.

The band returns for summer 2021 with an ambitious third studio album,
Day/Night, a double record that spans impossibly catchy disco-soul, prog, pastoral folk, Laurel Canyon-era classic songwriting and cinematic strings. Made over the course of 2020, when the world was at a standstill, it’s the sound of a band growing up; five guys who’ve known each other since childhood and are finding their way together, in spite of all the major obstacles the last 18 months have thrown at them, when they were unable to return home to Australia and see their loved ones. Day/Night is huge in scope and sound, and its hopeful messages of perseverance through difficult times are a balm for these uncertain times.

Chicago's DJ Rahaan comes correct on this latest release from Dublin disco heads Fatty Fatty Phonographics.
'Dirtyboyz' takes an old Bobby O production and sticks a rocket up it's arse, blending in rough Chi-Town beats and some vocals from another Music Box/Warehouse classic for some proper peak-time dancefloor devastation. 'Getting Up and Dance' is the kind of string drenched disco-boogie that he laces throughout his epic club sets, with some fiery Ron Hardy style edits to drive 'em wild.
'Clap Your Hands, Stomp Your Feet', meanwhile, rounds it off beautifully, a summery dancefloor swinger with a hellishly catchy chorus and a bouncy groove that just won't quit....

Sons Of Slum released three singles on Stax and Gamma in the 1970s. They were reputed to be Chicago's finest live band of their time, the band broke up in 1978. 'Music Is Message' is a high octane funk and soul crossover jam which which has the potential to be a future classic. On the flip the tempo is lowered and a rasping horn supplements the killer groove with a smoothing vocal delivery. Cordial Recordings will release an album of previously unreleased songs that were recorded back in the mid 1970s in 2019.

Peter Richard's "Walking In The Neon" is rightly regarded in some circles as an Italo-disco classic. Originally included under a slightly different title on his 1983 debut EP, it was reissued on a number of occasions throughout the '80s. The two versions here are from the 1986 issue on Holland's Injection Disco Dance label. Richard's full-vocal original - a stylish slab of mascara-clad dark synth-pop with a distinctive Italo-disco pulse - is joined by the little-known instrumental Dub, which strips out the vocal and offers the Walter Beinat's chiming, chugging production room to breathe. Dark Entries' new artwork fits the bill, too, offering an authentic-looking take on Italo-disco sleeves of the period.

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams comes with yet another strong release - a double album of personal favourites compiled by Jan Schulte.
According to all maps and witness accounts, Germany does not officially have any tropical forests. This is of no concern to Schulte however, who has unearthed many stunning examples of tropical drum music recorded there. Perhaps the number of botanical gardens and palm houses in Germany confused musicians into mistaking the climate, or maybe it was just a happy blend of escapism and multi-cultural integration within musical scenes that spawned such a curious output of undefinable tribal folk jazz.
Most of the tracks picked by Schulte were released on small labels in the late 80's. The musicians involved were mainly traditionally schooled, born and raised in Germany. At that time to be interested in foreign folk music might have seemed a gimmick to some, what with the emerging "world music boom" already snowballing into the mainstream. But these songs, while they may be based on musical traditions from foreign lands, deal much more with introspection than exploitation. Schulte himself points to his "general fascination for music that describes places where the artists have never been. Songs about the jungle or the rainforest made by people that know the rainforest only from television and books. Somehow I think you can hear their mythical imagination and fantasy in those tracks," he explains.
We certainly hear it in the extensive use of wildlife samples on both "Tagtraum Eines Elefanten" by Argile and on "Wuhan Wuchang" by Total Art Of Percussion. Or on the repetitive and trace-inducing drum circle re-enactments of Ralf Nowys "Akili Mali" and Bob Moses' & Billy Martin's "Boat Song Part II". And while Austrian band Sanza stands out with their interpretation of the traditional folk song "Sounouh", many of the inclusions take an avantgarde stance towards their visions of the tropics. The works of Om Buschmann and Trimopen seem to convey the stark and feverish nature of the jungle and its dangers, without relying on clichés. And while there is certainly a European approach in the production techniques on many of these recordings, the artists created something beyond all templates. In fusing folk music traditions from various corners of the world with avant-garde jazz improvisation and a distinctly European sound, they carved out a path of their own.
Düsseldorf-based Jan Schulte has been following this path with his own productions in the past years. During the present resurgence of tribal influences in underground dance music, his recordings under the alias Wolf Müller and Bufiman have stood out as the most interesting, funky and mindblowing within this niche. With the compilation "Tropical Drums Of Deutschland" for Music For Dreams, Jan Schulte re-traces this path to its origins. With the inclusion of two exclusive edits he also engages and re-examines these tracks and incorporates his own musical expression into the mix.

Returning to the full-length format with the second album THIS SIDE OF PARADISE (KOMPAKT 335 CD 126) in October, COMA never stray far from their well-established modus operandi: rich in melodic and rhythmic content, the new material appeal to fans who love their music at home and in the club. Lead single LORA is no different: a truly refined electronic pop gem from artists commanding their craft with confidence and style, bolstered by powerful, glistening revamps from electronic luminaries PIONAL and ROBAG WRUHME.

Buckle in for an orgasmic Italo trip, courtesy of Argentinian duo Furor Exótica. The result of a sweaty and shaky journey in their Buenos Aires studio, here they deliver two stir-crazy babies, crafted for dancing lovers worldwide.

The title track ‘Macchina Bum Bum’ builds energy gradually from minimal beginnings, adding spine-tingling vocoder vocals, shimmering synth melodies and a familiar sample as it builds towards a euphoric climax. Prime sunset material.

Meanwhile ‘Fractal’ is a hot and heavy chugger, with its throbbing bassline, trippy vocals, and euphoric synth melodies swelling and swirling together. You can practically smell the sweat on leather.

On remix duties, Donald’s House kick things off with a brilliant reimagining of ‘Macchina Bum Bum’, complimenting the vocals with a squiggly, wiggly, funky and propulsive retro-futurist instrumental. Just try not to throw your hands in the air when the synth melody comes in around the halfway mark! A certified stone cold banger, ready for peak-time deployment.

Bringing things home, label founders Kayroy and GREETINGS deliver a dreamy, psychedelic rework of ‘Fractal’. The vocals are transformed into a trippy, gated refrain, taking center stage alongside mellow, warm synth lines, and underpinned by a robust 808 kick. The track ends in a final crescendo, which should please dancers in a club or lovers in a broom closet alike.

It’s been ten years since Future Disco arrived with the seminal first edition ‘A Guide To 21st Century Disco’. Since then they have gone on to release over 20 albums and countless worldwide parties and radio shows. So to celebrate ten years in the Disco forefront Future Disco have provided a new artistic direction alongside a brand new album in the series.


While the outside may have changed the inside is exactly the same. An eclectic selection recapitulating the sound of today and tomorrow, with firm nod to the past. Future Disco has always managed to weave that line of interesting and party starting and on this album, it’s no different. Disco has always been about uniting the dance-floor and Future Disco embody this spirit with a cross selection of sounds and artists.


They find plenty of future rising stars with New Zealand’s Flamingo Pier and Paris’s Yuksek all comfortably sitting alongside more established names such as Jamie Jones, who reworks the legendary Teddy Pendergrass, Metro Area’s Darshan Jesrani and the original destroyer of Rock and Roll, Mylo.



There’splenty of exclusives on this album. One exclusive coming from superstar dance producer Mylo, one from cult hero Kiwi and a Future Disco edit from head compiler Sean Brosnan. The entire mixed album has as always been edited and mixed for dancing pleasure. For the first time the album will be available as a heavyweight limited vinyl edition, with 300x limited edition pressed to pearl white.

Danced Til Midnight continues to bring the uncut funk with latest single, Low Slung.

The title track fuses the stankin’ bassline, slick wah guitars and dope drums with MC Nosaj’s free associative raps. Nosaj (aka Jason Furlow) is a true hip-hop maverick. Raised in New York City, the MC and producer’s trailblazing sonic experimentalism began with his role in cult ‘90s psychedelic rap troupe New Kingdom. Strangers For Love is a solo band project by Alessio Di Mezza, also known as Religius Order. He sings, plays guitar and programs a bunch of synthesizers and drum machines, all in his home studio in Frosinone, Italy. The 7" is the first physical release and forms a connection between the past and the present where all his influences from punk over shoegaze to dark wave come together.
