Beat Generation presents a reissue of Pure Hell sole full-length album, recorded in 1978 but not released until 2006. In 1974, on the streets of Philadelphia, a band unlike any other was formed. They called themselves Pretty Poison. They had a sound so ahead of its time that the music industry was not yet ready for it. They coupled the punk sound of the New York bands of the time with a harder, faster heavy metal edge unheard before. Their unique sound was a result of Kenny Gordon's berserk choreography and Preston Morris's needling guitar riffs, while Steel and Spider added synchronized barrage with no nonsense execution to the arsenal. Inspired by the famous fuel-altered dragster, they changed their name to Pure Hell in 1975. Soon after, they moved to New York City where they played with bands like the New York Dolls, Sid Vicious, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, The Dead Boys, The Stimulators,Richard Hell, The Germs, The Nuns, The Cramps and more. In 1978 Pure Hell headlined a tour of the UK, with bands like theUK Subs, Wilko Johnson, Vermilion & the Aces and more opening for them. While in the UK, their only original record was released. It was a single released by their manager Curtis Knight on his label, Golden Sphinx Records. The songs on the single were "These Boots Were Made for Walking" and "No Rules." The single charted in the top 40 charts in the UK. During the same year, a full length album was recorded but was never released. It did not surface again for 28 years. Limited edition of 500 copies.

The Real Gone Tones hail from Warsaw, Poland and play a mix of rockabilly, rhythm'n'blues, swing and country since 2011. Rockin' and kickin' it, making you bop and shout!



The band performs their own material as well as covers of old, long forgotten tunes. Marla, leads the band on vocals which is set up of a wild drummer, a crazy slappin' bass player and a mad guitarist an an additional harmonica and second (male) vocal.

Ellison were formed in Montreal in late 1967 by Vincent Marandola, Richard Arcand, Robert Cager and Christian Tremblay. The band started playing quite frequently in and around Montreal, and actually played a few other gigs in Quebec. They recorded their one and only LP in 1971, originally released on Trans-World Records. Here's a welcome reissue of this rare and sought-after album.

The Real Thing (1989) turned out to be Faith No More's most aptly named record as it presents the band's most revered line-up. Mike Patton on vocals proved a massive improvement on their previous singer. Added at the last moment to complement a set of strong, funky songs, he joined Roddy Bottum on keys, Jim Martin on guitars, bassist Bill Gould and Mike Bordin on drums. The hit single Epic proved to be just that, and is one of the most recognizable Faith No More songs in their repertoire.

Sounding at times like Vashti Bunyan fronting Sunforest, Floret Silva' is a haunting mix of medieval music and progressive / psych / folk with Latin lyrics straight from the Carmina Burana book.

The Floret Silva' project was born when minimalist composer Kay Hoffman went to Italy in the mid-70s. Once there, she met with welsh soprano Jacqueline Darby, who had recently been working with the Italian avant-prog band Pierrot Lunaire. Jaqueline was working on new compositions with RCA producer Vincento Miccocci in Rome and she asked Kay if she was interested in getting involved in a new project. Kay agreed and Gaio Chiochio and Arturo Stalteri of Pierrot Lunaire also joined them on this new venture. Gaio travelled from Rome to play the guitar and other friends of Jacqueline also offered their collaboration.

In a short time, Kay wrote all the material, inspired by the Carmina Burana book and her love of Medieval and Renaissance music. Kay also contributed vocals, clavinet and piano and together with Jacqueline Darby - on haunting vocals - plus an impressive cast of jazz/rock/progressive musicians, they recorded Floret Silva' during 1977-78, under the guidance of Vicento Micocci.

Sadly, RCA backed off and the album went unreleased until a copy of the masters found their way to Japan, where the great Belle Antique label put out the first vinyl edition of Floret Silva' in 1985. In 2006, US label Robot Records resurrected it again for the first CD release.

After many years out of print on vinyl, we present a new edition of this lost piece from the 70s Italian underground scene. A visionary album which anticipated the sound practiced by many neo-folk bands some decades later.

British musician Terry Reid is a relatively unsung legend. With his incredible voice (that earned him the nickname Superlungs'), spot-on songwriting, and underrated guitar skills, Reid invented new sounds and others followed suit.
His 1973 LP, River, is an under-the-radar but deeply loved album. Our special new release, The Other Side Of The River, features all previously unreleased material from the River sessions, including six never-before-heard Reid compositions and five very different alternate takes of tracks from River.

Over the decades, as River went in and out of print, there were rumors of a mythological double album's worth of unreleased material. The rumors turned out to be true, as the entire album was recorded twice: once with British producer Eddy Offord and again with the legendary Tom Dowd. The sessions captured Reid's free-associative mix of folk, blues, rock, jazz, bossa-nova, soul, and samba, recalling at times Tim Buckley and Van Morrison, while featuring some remarkable guests including Gilberto Gil on percussion, Ike & Tina Turner's Ikettes on vocals, and David Lindley, of psych band Kaleidoscope, on violin.

The Other Side Of The River includes songs that even Terry had forgotten - rockers in the style of the River track Dean,' Latin grooves with percussionist Willie Bobo, and beautifully sparse vocal material not unlike David Crosby's If Only I Could Remember My Name and John Martyn's Solid Air.

Reid's vocal prowess earned him offers to front both Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but he turned down both opportunities to carve out a distinctive solo career. Instead, he rocked on the sidelines, ultimately touring with Cream and Fleetwood Mac, writing songs for CSNY, and opening for The Rolling Stones on their 1969 tour. More recently, Terry's songs have been covered by a number of younger artists including the Raconteurs, and his voice can be heard on DJ Shadow's track "Listen".

Once more, and as we did with the first volume of 'Domestic Landscape', we present you a selection of songs that you won't find in any other format, apart from of a few exceptions which were published in cassette and in very limited editions. All the bands selected have something in common: they are projects born out of the need to express an own, original and genuine message, built up from a solid basis and the result of hard work. Needless to say, all of them did it through analogic technology and, therefore, the main transmitters of this message are the synthesizers, the drum machines and the sequencers. In addition, each of them created, promoted and sold their music in a totally independent way; in a context which was very different from the current one and, up to a degree, much less friendly. Some of these bands have survived for years, others have disappeared and others have mutated; however, now we can enjoy their music again and give them the recognition that they deserve.

So far BEAU have played extensively on both sides of the Atlantic including performing for a packed room at The Social in London, Patti Smith at her launch of 'Cowboy Mouth' at The Chelsea Hotel, Cannes Film Festival and this November at Les InRocks Festival in France.
Creatively the band are a self-made entity, the aesthetic of which runs parallel with their personal experience growing up as quintessential New Yorkers, likened to Sofia Coppola's film style of exploring the naivety of youth culture. BEAU have released five videos which capture this essence, 'One Wing' co-directed with Nautico, 'C'mon Please', 'Soar Across The Sea' and Animal Kingdom.

Die Geschichte von Epitaph begann im Winter 1969/70 im Dortmunder Musikclub Fantasio, in dessen
Kellerräumen der Brite Cliff Jackson (Gesang, Gitarre), sein Landsmann James McGillivray (Schlagzeug) und
Bassist Bernd Kolbe beständig an ihrem Programm feilten, während sie wöchentlich im Stockwerk darüber
zwischen Größen wie Black Sabbath, Rory Gallagher, Yes und Argent auftraten. Seither ist viel passiert.
Doch trotz einiger Umbesetzungen sind Epitaph nach zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen und vielen erfolgreichen
Tourneen auch 2016 noch eine feste Größe im Rockgeschäft. Und vor allem eine Band, die vor Energie und
Spielfreude nur so sprüht, wie das zuletzt veröffentlichte Werk "Fire From The Soul" bestens unter Beweis
stellte. Das Album erschien im Frühjahr 2016 als LP in limitierter 500er-Auflage auf rotem Vinyl mit BonusCD. Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage kommt es zum Jahresbeginn 2017 als 180-Gramm-Pressung inklusive

Party is Pop's sixth solo studio album, released in June

Originally released in 1967. Days Have Gone By continues Fahey's interest in soundscapes, sound effects and experimental music mixed in with more traditional guitar playing of his earlier musical style.

The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death is John Fahey's classic fifth album from the mid-1960s and is one of his most influential. This album has an amazing variety of styles, moods, and influences, and John has a compositional and playing style that is totally unique.

Megadeth's first years are deemed legendary with classic albums such as Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction. Then in 2004 Mustaine resurrected Megadeth and released The System Has Failed.

A surprise return including Chris Poland on guitar whom Mustaine fired after the masterful Peace Sells album. This re-pairing makes the album even more ferocious than the good old fashioned Megadeth thrash is all about.

Dave Mustaine is going for that vibe on 'Back In The Day' and he infuses it with melodic songwriting which makes this an outstanding Megadeth album, if not, the best Metal Album of 2004!

Catholic Action are a product of Glasgow's famously fertile music scene but have won fans across the UK thanks to their peerless pop masterpieces. After a run of rapturously received gigs in their hometown the group are ready to release their long-awaited debut release for Luv Luv Luv Records (Spector, Only Real, Splashh, The Garden) The four-piece band are centered around the singular talents of vocalist and guitarist Chris McCrory - already known among key taste-makers as the drummer in Casual Sex, another of Glasgow's leading musical lights.

McCrory, still only 24, became a full-time producer and recording engineer straight from school after establishing his own studio. While helping many of the artists in Glasgow's burgeoning DIY scene, McCrory is also an exceptional songwriter in his own right and his group quickly became the most talked about in town. Catholic Action were formed in 2014 by McCrory alongside Jamie Dubber on bass and Ryan Clark on drums. Andrew Macpherson later joined as lead guitarist to add extra sparkle to the group's own brand of glam noise rock.

The group were personally invited by Alex Kapranos to support FFS at their sold-out show at the famous Barrowland Ballroom last August. Just days later, Carl Barat was in touch to ask them to open for The Libertines when they played Glasgow's Academy the following month - an invitation to open on Swim Deep's UK tour in October 2015 followed.

L.U.V. was recorded at the Green Door Studio in Glasgow and produced by Sam Smith (Casual Sex, Mother and the Addicts). The single was mixed at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool by Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Clean Cut Kid).

Lucky Number, in-conjunction with new label URU, spearheaded by solo artist Samantha Urbani, are thrilled to announce their reissue of British pop duo Rexy's only album, Running Out of Time on March 18th, 2016. Originally released in 1981 on Alien Records and long since out of print, the LP has become a coveted find for fans of leftfield pop, and through the rewards of its wry, forward-looking song-craft, has been championed by the likes of current artists such as Ariel Pink, Mount Kimbie, Joey Negro, ConnanMockasin and MGMT.

Meeting in the heady milieu of London's Blitz Kids scene, fashion student Rex Nayman and Eurythmics band member Vic Martin formed Rexy after bonding over a shared affinity for maverick pop music and the creatively flamboyant DIY clothing.

'The Blitz was a place to create your look, be who you wanted to be. I got bored of punk. While I've always loved soul, funk disco and jazz I'm also into latin, electro, show tunes, lounge and lots of kitsch stuff which was all played there.' Rex used to frequent the The Blitz with some of the scenes most recognisable faces - a heady mixture of designers, promoters and musicians which included Stewart Mechem, Steve Strange, Princess Julia, Stephen Linard, Philip Sallon, Marilyn and Judith Frankland who designed the black wedding dresses for Bowie's Ashes to Ashes video. 'It felt like anything was possible. I remember going there once in a tee-shirt made from a Brussel Sprouts Bag!' Rex recalls.

Writing and rehearsing together, it wasn't long before the pair's relationship also blossomed into romance. The first fruits of the pair's musical communion was the (Don't) Turn Me Away single. Released the same year as the group's formation in 1980, the cut's clicking drum machine, maddeningly catchy synth bassline, and spoken-word delivery recalls contemporaries like Young Marble Giants and Laurie Anderson, but offers more fun and more funk.

First with his band The Bunnys and later with The Blue Jeans, guitarist Takeshi 'Terry' Terauchi covered many popular genres, from garage, frat-rock and surf guitar instrumentals, through sentimental ballads, via his own inimitable take on the popular classics; little known in the U.S., he is Japan's premier guitar hero. His style could be described as neo-surf: along with the traditional surf and respective sounds he was using the stylistics of true 70s rock, with fuzz guitar connected to the acid organ and impetuous drum solo.

In 1972 the instrumental album Rashomon was released, where the main theme was written by Terauchi for Akira Kurosawa's same titled movie: a surf/psych cut with dark guitar and soaring flute - pretty exciting!

Tatsächlich fallen diese eher komplex und ausufernd aus. Unterm Strich liegt ein Album vor, das Garage und Ambient wunderschön kombiniert. Die Wiederveröffentlichung von "Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel" macht den Langspieler erstmals als Vinyl verfügbar und enthält als Bonus die "Another Bedroom EP". Deren sechs Stücke wurden im Februar 2008 produziert und von Jason Ward gemastert.

Night Songs is the debut studio album by American Rock band Cinderella, released in 1986. The album sold several million copies due to a combination of Cinderella's breakthrough single 'Nobody's Fool', MTV airplay, and an opening slot on labelmates Bon Jovi's tour, in support of their album Slippery When Wet.

The album peaked at #3 on the US charts, and was eventually certified triple platinum for shipping 3 million copies. Leadoff single 'Shake Me' failed to chart, but 'Nobody's Fool' cracked the Top 20, reaching #13. The third single 'Somebody Save Me' went to #66.

Night Songs was criticized as one of the 'top five worst album covers on great albums'. The cover was not that bad, it was just misleading, as it put forward a glam metal image, but the songs inside were classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

genre, but it stands on its own due to its being set in the world of boxing.

It's a drama movie too, with a non-optimistic nor hopeful ending at all, accompanied by the music of Franco Bixio, with a distinctive jazz rock imprint, a strong presence of symphonic arrangements and a singular more 'disengaged' episode ("Split second", on the B side of the LP).

Together with his brother Carlo, Franco Bixio was the founder of Cinevox Record, which originally published this album in 1974, the same year of the film screening in theaters. Entsprechend professionell gingen sie auch an ihr Debütalbum "The Band" heran. Und zwangsläufig zustimmend war damals die mediale Begeisterung über diesen feurigen Stil-Bastard, der nahezu klassisch zwischen Soul, Gospel, Blues und Rock'n'Roll angesiedelt ist, aber keineswegs nach Retro klingt. Auch "Halos" kann in dieser Hinsicht erneut positiv überraschen. Songs wie "Gazelles", "Never Gonna Be Mine" oder "Other Lovers" packen die Hörer am Schlafittchen, bevor diese auch nur den Bandnamen buchstabiert haben. Nichts an dieser Platte scheint zufällig, jeder Anschlag sitzt, die Gitarre ist puristisch, das Schlagzeugspiel große Jazz-Schule. "Halos" knurrt und wimmert, brummt und summt aus jeder Ritze. Das Beste dabei: Gleichzeitig spielen Hodja dermaßen leicht und frei auf, als ob man sich auf eine Zigarette im Keller zum Jammen getroffen hat.

Travel-Log is the ninth album by JJ Cale, released in

In 1965 the Jolly label released Luigi Tenco's first album. For fans and collectors SAAR is today re-releasing one of his masterpieces. This LP, recorded in a studio in Pero (Milan, Italy), was made with the collaboration of the best Jazz musicians available, personally selected by Ezio Leoni, who was at the time Jolly Records' artistic director. From the 'thoughts' of his friends and of those who worked with Tenco, this is an unusual portrait of our artist, who's clearly not perpetually 'angry' with the world, but an ironic person instead, often able to laugh and have fun, even with jokes. The controversial aspects of Tenco's character and personality are confirmed by the testimonies of those who were close to him during his short life, and in the release of this album.

Gemeint sind ein druckvoller Sound, trockene Drums, kreischende Gitarren und überdrehter Sprechgesang. Damit hätte man alles beisammen, was dem aufgeschlossen RockFan von Heute gefällt. Die vier Kalifornier Brandon Blaine (Gesang), Jay Rogers (Gitarre), Michael Perez (Bass) und Luke Perine (Drums) waren schon jahrelang befreundet, als sie sich - inspiriert von Iggy Pop, Nick Cave und Black Lips - 2009 dazu entschlossen, Plague Vendor zu gründen. Ihr impulsiver Vollgas-Mix sorgte schnell für Aufsehen. Es folgten Support-Touren und Festival-Auftritte. 2014 erschien mit "Free To Eat" eine energiegeladene, rohe, nur 18-minütige Debüt-EP. Die wurde innerhalb einer Woche geschrieben und live in drei Stunden aufgenommen. Im Anschluss waren Plague Vendor die ganze Zeit auf Tour. Da man sich explizit als Live-Band versteht, war das gewiss keine Strafe. Umso schöner, dass die vier Musiker dennoch Zeit fanden, mit "Bloodsweat" einen Zweitling mit elf neuen Songs einzuspielen. Stücken, die sich zuvor alle live bewährt haben, wie die Kalifornier betonen. Entsprechend kurz fiel die Aufnahmezeit aus, auf Schnickschnack wie Overdubs hat man sowieso verzichtet. Denn: Hier geht's um reine Energie, und das spürt man.
