The return of the Pulse-R with the third official work, the first after the release by the band of bassist Mirko Serra and the entry of Vieri Pestelli. A job articulated nuanced and lots of music. A band that brings roots and background different from each other, but never incompatible and then you can listen to matches between the more experimental metal, the catchy pop melodies and a never banal taste for surprises Sheet. The album is the result of a long process of composition and refinement of labor without losing the spirit of improvisation being typical of the band recording. The first phase of the disk composition has involved Jac and Gabriele La Forge Studio of spreading structures of the songs and arrangements, in an almost instinctive without questioning or wondering what was right or wrong. The second phase saw the band engaged in the recordings of the pieces bringing that element of unpredictability and personality that each member of the band knows introduced at the right time then finished with masterly craft from Jac La Forge Studio. A band that shows a rich disk of cues, not easy listening, but stratiform. You can stop at the first level and appreciate the melodies, or begin to fall in the sound and discover the spiral anchors and surprises that only repeated listening can bring in evidence.

Decca's female roster was largely placed in the skilled hands of producers, arrangers and writers such as Mike Leander, Andrew Loog Oldham, Shel Talmy, Charles Blackwell and Tony Meehan, who sourced a steady supply of homemade and American soul, folk-rock, beat and pop.

This gorgeously packaged collection, compiled by Mick Patrick, is available in 24-track CD and 12-track vinyl album formats, each with notes by Sheila Burgel. The CD version comes with a 20-page booklet featuring many rare colour photos.

This CD kicks off a brand new BGP series which looks at the obscure and wonderful from different areas of American black music. The first collection digs into the West Coast studio scenes that produced so much great street funk and ghetto soul in the late 60s and early 70s. We'd argue the CD presents a compelling case to demonstrate California was the most creative US state as a source of soul music

Focusing mainly on Los Angeles and San Francisco, the music ranges from the sweet harmonies of the Ballads' 'Butterfly' to the relentless groove of ZZ Hill's 'Think People'.

As well as previously unreleased masters by Eleanor Rigby, Chucky Thurmon and Choice Of Colors, 'California Soul' includes the super-rare 'Strike' by Union and Little Johnny Hamilton's 'The Git Down' from the rare Watts USA label. There are floor-fillers by Warm Excursion, Brenda George and Little Denise.

Housed in a glorious sleeve featuring a Bill Ray shot of sharply dressed youths at the Watts Tower, it includes a detailed note housed in a fully illustrated booklet.

Motown was always the sound of dance music. During the novelty dance era in the early 1960s, the company celebrated the Twist, the Monkey, the Jerk, the Twine and even the Uncle Willie as these crazes came and went. By the mid-60s Motown had begun to turn their kind of dance music into an art form, with the rhythm section of the Funk Brothers providing the underpinning and the string and horn arrangements of Paul Riser (among others) supplying the sweetening on top. As the 60s drew to a close and the Motown sound began to give way in popularity to funk and subsequently disco, Motown dance music found a new body of fans in England, whose devotion to the genre continues to this day.

'One Track Mind!' - the second in our series of releases by the men of 1960s Motown - takes a tour through the vaults to discover some lost treasures of dance music. Seven of the selections here were previously available only as mp3 downloads. The remaining 17 tracks are previously unissued in any format. From the joyous if primitive sound of Popcorn Wylie to the sophisticated soul of the Fantastic Four, we hope there's something here for even the most armchair-bound dance music fans of today.

Applewood Road is singer-songwriters Emily Barker, Amber Rubarth and Amy Speace, who first

met in Nashville in September 2014 where they wrote and recorded the song entitled 'Applewood

Road'. Six months later they reconvened to write twelve more songs and turn this exciting new

collaboration into a full album project.



Applewood Road's soaring three part vocal harmonies have just the right degree of edge and

precision while their finely crafted songs reflect deeply on their personal experiences and illustrate

their special gifts for storytelling. Each song was recorded live to stereo tape, Emily, Amber and

Amy singing together around one microphone with minimal accompaniment - the whole concept

going right back to the beginning of recorded music.



The tape was then mastered and cut for vinyl at Gearbox Records in London, keeping the 100%

analogue chain throughout the whole process. Applewood Road made their live debut in Nashville during

AmericanaFest 2015, and played dates and promo shows in the UK, including a live session

for Dermot O'Leary's BBC Radio 2 show where they performed "Applewood Road" and REM's 'Losing My Religion'.

Everything But The Girl was an English musical duo, formed in Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, and singer Ben Watt.
Originating at the turn of the 1980s as a leader of the lite- jazz movement, Everything But The Girl became an unlikely success story more than a decade later, emerging at the vanguard of the fusion between Pop and Electronica.
Idlewild (1988), their most accessible recording, consists of eleven intimate songs. The setting is perfect for such moving compositions as 'Love Is Here Where I Live' and 'Apron Strings.' The album spawned the single 'I Don't Want to Talk About It,' a poignant cover of a song by the late Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten which became EBTG's biggest hit to date, landing at the number three spot on the British charts. Troubadour is the fourth album by JJ Cale, released in
1976. Eric Clapton covered the song 'Cocaine' on his 1977 album Slowhand, turning it into one of his biggest hits.

Clapton later covered the track 'Travelin' Light' for his 2001 studio album Reptile. 'Travelin' Light' was also recorded by Widespread Panic for their album Space Wrangler in 1988.

Producer Audie Ashworth introduced some different instruments for a slightly altered sound on Troubadour. But the album still bears the typical introspective J.J. Cale style we all love so much!

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Super Jam, Doraville, Atlanta 30th August 1978

After one of rock and roll's most notorious tragedies, four surviving members of southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd honoured an invitation from friends and DIR-FM to perform at the debut Super Jam in Doraville GA. Participating guests would include members of the Charlie Daniels Band, Allman Brothers, Wet Willie and The Outlaws with Bonnie Bramlett and Patti Smith.

With Betts' wrenching solos giving Cocaine a whole new side effect and Charlie Daniels ripping out the pages of the southern rock textbook with Jitterbug, Collins, Pyle, Rossington and Powell are in great company for the 1978 Super Jam!!

Air Cuts proudly presents the entire original DIR-FM broadcast of Lynyrd Skynyrd with friends live at the Super Jam from Doraville, Georgia on 30th August 1978. Professionally re-mastered original broadcast with background liners and rare archival photos.

The early 1990s hosted a new generation in rock and roll and Seattle provided the backdrop for a bold new genre. Mother Love Bone's appearance at Tommy's Bar in Deep Ellum, Dallas in 1989 bears the early hallmarks of the new rock prophecy in full throttle! This is a prized performance captured by ZRock-FM that reveals an important chapter in alternative rock and the Seattle uprising that gave way to the likes of million-sellers such as Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Alice In Chains.



Sadly, lead vocalist Andrew Wood wouldn't be around to enjoy the acknowledgements and accolades that Mother Love Bone have received since his untimely death, but we can be grateful for the existence of recordings such as this that allow that offers a rare and precious opportunity to dig into the roots of the Seattle grunge rock story.

Sister of well known artist Alan Sorrenti, Jenny (or Jane, as she was called in her early releases) was born in Naples from welsh mother, and formed there the acid folk trio Saint Just. With this band she released two albums before

embarking in a solo career that only produced two more albums in the '70s. Based on the beautiful voice of Alan Sorrenti's sister Jane, Saint Just began as a trio with mainly acoustic instruments and mixing together folk,

psychedelia and classical influences. The very good results are demonstrated in their first album, released in 1973 on Harvest. The soft prog atmospheres are dreamy and enchanting, like in the opening" Quando nel mondo distrutto incominciò la vita", and Alan Sorrenti also sang on a track.

Moreover, Jenny Sorrenti is still very active nowadays: she came back on stage with Saint Just and her brother Alan at the Prog Exhibition in Rome in 2011, and has just taken part in the Fabio Zuffanti/Stefano Agnini's super-prog project called La Curva di Lesmo.

This is another classic reissue on Vinyl Magic, on coloured vinyl, of another out of print item; and once again, it's one of the best outfits of that incredible and fertile period. Not to be missed!

A Whole New Thing is the debut album of Sly and the Family Stone, released in 1967. Unlike later Sly and the Family Stone albums, A Whole New Thing was recorded live in the studio instead of being overdubbed and featured less of a Pop feel than later releases such as Dance to the Music [MOVLP1402] and Stand! [MOVLP610]. The lead vocals are shared between Sly Stone, Freddie Stone, and Larry Graham; Rose Stone would not join the band until they began work on Dance to the Music.

Stephen O'Malley deploys the 2nd in a trio of documents of his improvisational prowess following his crushing Fuck Fundamentalist Pigs, which was brought forward in tribute to the Paris attacks and released in late 2015.The minimalist electric guitar mantra Dread Live was performed at Studio Helmbreker in Haarlem, Netherlands, September 2013, and recorded by Mathijs Ton on a hypercardiod ribbon mic with immaculate 70's valve amp back line and technical support by the great Tos Nieuwenhuisen. The set was programmed as part of the opening of the Dread - Fear in the age of technological Acceleration exhibition at De Hallen Haarlem, curated by Juha Van't Zelfde. It renders 40 minutes of Sunn 0)))'s O'Malley at his most depressive and heavy and is something akin to a slow-motion baptism by waves of tarry, blackened harmonic distortion, holding us under 'til we nearly pass-out from its sinking pressure. Needless to say - it's insanely good. How low can you go O'Malley knows.

Just as folk and rock morphed into folk-rock, guitarist Al Casey and producer Lee Hazlewood attempted to fuse the new genre with surf music! While this new hybrid genre didn't start a new craze, the experiment yielded a positively brilliant LP,
Surfin' Hootenanny. Filled with super-loud, killer twang and surf sounds, awash in reverb and backed by the cream of The Wrecking Crew, we present one of the best, and rarest, albums of the original surf wave.
Mastered from the original 1964 Stacy Records mono reel and pressed on custom colored vinyl, this is an essential addition to any surf/guitar library!

2015 proved to be something of a seminal year for Stockport five-piece Blossoms. Hotly tipped for this year the band have today been announced as number four on the BBC Sound of 2016 list as well as being included in Spotify's Spotlight on 2016, MTV Brand New for 2016, iTunes/Apple Music New Artists 2016 and tipped by several other sites and publications for more success in 2016.

Blossoms will release their brand new EP 'At Most A Kiss' on February 19th. James Skelly and Rich Turvey produced the EP at Parr St. Studios in Liverpool.

The emphatic, fast paced title track sees Blossoms channel their unique pop-rock sound with shimmering synths, crashing drums, a catchy bass line and Tom Ogden's now unmistakable vocals.

Dave Myers and his Surftones packed California dance floors in the early '60s and doused their audiences in lagoons of reverb and rhythm! Lake Ruth, the new group formed by vocalist Allison Brice (The Eighteenth Day Of May), instrumentalist Hewson Chen (The New Lines) and drummer Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, SAVAK, Enon) have announced the release of their debut single 'The Inconsolable Jean-Claude / The Prisoner's Dilemma' on the esteemed UK label 'The Great Pop Supplement'.

Mixed by Greg Hughes of Still Corners, the 7' single will be released on February 22nd, 2016.

Lake Ruth's sound is rooted in 1960's sonic experimentation, and skillfully blends elements of chamber pop, psych, kraut, jazz and electronic music. Cinematic A-side 'The Inconsolable Jean-Claude', an imagined portrait of French composer Jean-Claude Vannier, may appeal to fans of his work, along with those of Serge Gainsbourg and Margo Guryan. B-side 'The Prisoner's Dilemma' evokes Pentangle and The Left Banke, with its baroque instrumentation and atmospheric vocals.

The stereo 45 (cat: GPS130) will be released and distributed direct from the label The Great Pop Supplement via all usual outlets; in a limited edition pressing of 300, and will be available for download and streaming via all major digital distributors. Lou Reeds 15th solo album, New York, released early in 1989, was universally praised by critics and fans alike and became Reeds must successful album since 1974s Sally Cant Dance, reaching No. 40 on Billboard and No. 14 in the UK. On 22nd April Lou played the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, a performance which was the subject of a live FM broadcast by local radio - the results of which can now be heard on this release. Featuring 10 of "New York"s 14 cuts, plus a smattering of oldies and a somewhat unusual choice of cover in Ol Blue Eyes One For My Baby - this recording is a delightful artefact for fans of the late Lou Reed and a nice reminder of what this often misrepresented albeit legendary artist was capable of.

MOVING GELATINE PLATES - The World Of Genius Hans ( 180 gr. Gatefold LP ) RPC017 Second album by this french progressive rock band (widely influenced by jazz and psychedelia), initially released in 1972 on CBS. « Easily one of the most interesting group to come out of France in the early 70's along with MAGMA and the GONG galaxy.

Having recorded five albums in 10 years and toured extensively in support of all of them, Nada Surf opted to follow 2012's cracking The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy with a brief but well-earned hiatus. So in January 2015, when Caws informed Nada Surf's vociferous Facebook following that a new record was just about done, the news was greeted with explosive enthusiasm. The music was in the can, he announced, and all that remained was to finish up a few lyrics and sing a few vocals, something he planned to do on off-days off during an upcoming solo acoustic tour. Caws even included a photo of the recording set-up he was bringing in the car. I was so eager to have an album done that I believed in it as it was,' Caws recalls. But the great thing about being 'finished' is that you can take a breath and evaluate, because the pressure to 'do it' is gone. The more I listened and thought about it, the more I realized that I might want to keep working.' Caws continues. There were already a bunch of songs in the can that we all liked, so I could think more expansively about what the album could be." And lo and behold, what would have been another really good Nada Surf album (their seventh since getting signed to a major in the go-go 90's and scoring a worldwide alterna-hit with Popular') became what could well be the most representative collection of the group's two-decade career, all while pushing towards whatever comes next.

PAZOP - Psychillis Of A Lunatic Genius ( 180 gr. Unfortunately, the label refused to release the record due to its title. Influenced by ZAPPA and the Canterbury scene, and recorded at the famous Hérouville's castle, here is this mythical album for the first time on vinyl !

What did you do in high school If you were one of the five members of The Belairs, you were busy helping to invent surf music. Their 1961 regional hit, 'Mr. Moto,' laid the blueprint for countless aqua odes to follow. Featuring minor key guitar leads flowing to major and back to minor, a prominent sax and dogged drums, 'Mr. Moto' was a clarion call to thousands of like-minded California kids. Bands sprung up, dance halls overflowed and a steady stream of surf records began to hit the airwaves and the shop racks. California became the epicenter for a new music genre and its hub was South Bay, Los Angeles, home of The Belairs.
The Belairs' reign was brief, from 1961-1963. An argument between guitarists Eddie Bertrand and Paul Johnson over whether to incorporate the then-new Fender reverb unit into their sound (Eddie was for it, Paul against) escalated and resulted in the group's break-up. Their tiny discography of three singles belied their massive impact. Bertrand formed Eddie and The Showmen, drummer Richard Delvy founded The Challengers and original Bel-Airs drummer, former Mousketeer Dick Dodd, joined The Standells, all groups destined to make national noise and carry the California sound forward.
The Belairs would have remained a footnote in surf annals if not for the huarache-shod detectives at Sundazed. Working from Richard Delvy's original session reels, they have forged Volcanic Action! The Great Pop Supplement/Crimson Crow

London-based psych-folk outfit The Hanging Stars release their much anticipated debut album Over the Silvery Lake in March 2016 via The Great Pop Supplement / Crimson Crow (CD). Blending folky, pastoralism with swampy 60s Americana, they sound like the missing link between the California desert sun and the grey skies of London Town. The album was recorded between LA, Nashville and Walthamstow, with each of these vastly different places leaving an indelible mark on the songs.

Fronted by London-based songwriter, singer and guitarist Richard Olson (The See See, Eighteenth Day of May), The Hanging Stars are essentially a loose collective of people who weave together a blissed-out psychedelic tapestry. The rest of the core band is made up of Sam Ferman on bass and Paulie Cobra on drums, also featuring Horse (Dan Michelson and the Coastguards) on pedal steel, Patrick Ralla (The Alan Tyler Show) on banjo, guitar and assorted instruments and Phil Anderson on Keyboards. They jam rather than write and hang out rather than rehearse, harnessing a kind of tipsy euphoria resplendent with luscious arrangements and glorious vocal harmonies.

During 2015, the band released two critically acclaimed singles via The Great Pop Supplement (both of which also appear on the album). 'Golden Vanity' was premiered by The Line of Best Fit who said; 'you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd just unearthed a rare deep cut from the late 60s/early 70s boom of psychedelia infused Americana' and 'The House on The Hill' was described by The Guardian as; "a hazy, desert-dream of a song, nicely sharpened with steely-eyed guitars, Mersey-laced harmonies and just a whiff of the Gun Club'. They picked up a good amount of support at 6 Music and 'The House on the Hill' scored a much-coveted 10/10 by John Robb on Steve Lamacq's Roundtable. The Hanging Stars played a sold-out three-night residency at London's Betsey Trotwood, recently shared the stage with The Clientele at Islington Assembly Hall and have toured extensively throughout Europe.

There are a number of allusions to nature and the weather on the album, borne in part out of the contrasting surroundings in which it was produced. The band's fascination with Americana led them to record some of the material Stateside, laying down some of the parts at Battle Tapes Studios in Nashville (Lambchop, Paperhead), as well as at Vision Quest Studios in Los Angeles with Rob Campanella. His work with The Quarter After, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Beachwood Sparks The Tyde, and GospelbeacH was a perfect match to capture their sound and they even had San Franciscan legend Chrystof Certik step in on lead guitar for a couple of tracks.

Following the LA recordings, a trip to the Californian desert provided the core notion of what they wanted to produce - a shard of light that they clung on to whilst recording the rest of the album in the significantly more rain soaked atmosphere of Walthamstow, London, under the watchful eye of Brian O'Shaughnessy at Bark Studios (The Clientele, Comet Gain, My Bloody Valentine). As the band explain: 'Ultimately we hope you can hear both the sand and the rain in this record.'

The Hanging Stars place themselves firmly as part of a long folk tradition encompassing European and North American influences - as a continuation rather than a pastiche of these styles. This is the sound of a band really coming in to their own, fully formed and in no doubt of their vision. With Over the Silvery Lake they succeed in producing a record, which has the country, blues and folk traditions at its heart. And what a big heart it is. Embrace it.

They've been called 'America's Lost Band.' Actually, the Remains were not so much lost as they were woefully under-appreciated. Meeting at Boston University in 1964, they were soon drawing capacity crowds at The Rat. Led by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Barry Tashian,
the Remains were an incredibly tough four-piece with talent and chutzpah to spare.
The group was soon recording for Epic Records, they played the happening spots in NYC, and they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. However, in 1966, on the cusp of opening for
The Beatles on their final U.S. tour, drummer Chip Damiani quit and the group began a slow-motion disintegration. By the time Epic Records actually released The Remains on September 26, 1966, the group had broken up. With no band to promote it, the LP quickly sank, seemingly without a trace.
But - a band this brilliant could not be ignored. Their driving, in-your-face 'Don't Look Back' caught the ear of Lenny Kaye, who included it on the massively influential 1972 Elektra compilation Nuggets, and the legend of The Remains grew with belated discovery.
Eventually, the group and their lone album were vaulted to legendary status.

Zwei Konzertaufzeichnungen in ganzer Länge: Deutschlands erste Band beim Rockpalast.

Die 1968 vom Kult-Schlagzeuger Mani Neumeier gegründete Formation Guru Guru gilt als bedeutender Vertreter des Krautrocks - obwohl sie sich selbst nie als Krautrock-Band bezeichnete. Guru Guru ist in Gestalt von Neumeier immer noch musikalisch aktiv, der Rest der Besetzung wechselt kontinuierlich. Jedes alternative Festival von Burg Herzberg bis Finkenbach ist Spielwiese der Band. Bis heute hat die Gruppe rund 40 Tonträger veröffentlicht. Am 4. Juni 1976 trat Guru Guru als erste deutsche Band im Rockpalast auf. Der komplette Auftritt ist zusammen mit dem zweiten Rockpalast-Auftritt vom 21. Dezember 2004 vollständig auf der 2CD/DVD "Live At Rockpalast" enthalten. Hier bietet die Hippe-Formation eine farbenfrohe Mixtur aus Rock, Jazz und Klamauk mit unterschiedlichen Rhythmen wie Bossa Nova oder Tango. Ein großer musikalischer Spaß.
