Broadcast on WLVQ 96.3FM, Columbus Ohio, shortly after the release of their fifth studio album, Highway To Hell, the last album featuring lead singer Bon Scott before his untimely death from over-consumption of alcohol in the following year. This riotous show captures AC/DC's classic line-up at the peak of their live powers, and is presented here complete with background notes and images.

"PLAY THIS ALBUM MANTISSIMO (That means loud baby)." So it says on the back of one of the rarest NZ pressed albums,by the greatest Fijian rock band ever. Mantis recorded the legendary Turn On To Music LP during a four month visit to Wellington, New Zealand in 1973.

Some serious FIJIAN funk with a garagey-Santana feel , and sometimes almost Stooge-like in parts, the album was released in NZ only on local Vertigo in a limited run of 300 copies. Lead guitarist was famed albino Fijian guitar hero Waisea 'Wise' Vatuwaga who had cut his teeth in the Suva rock scene of the sixties.

Originally named The Dragon Swingers, they were the in-house band at Suva's Golden Dragon night club run by Ken Janson who still owns the establishment to this day. In 1973 they took up a casual offer from a NZ film crew to make the three hour flight back to Wellington. Snapping up the invitation they were hosted by renown NZ producer Eddie O'Strange who secured them live work at his nightclub Ziggys. He also got them signed to Polygram NZ. O'Strange would produce their Pacific blend of funk and super hard rock for their only album Turn On To Music. While side one was live favourites, including a bone crunching rendition of Mississippi Queen, and a sacrophiliac scrunching version of Jo Jo Gunne's Shake That Fat, it was on side two where MANTIS literally brings the noise. Three out-of-control, percussive instrumentals ! All clocking in at over six minutes with strong lashings of fuzz, wah wah and dominating power chords of violent volcanic proportions . Eddie would add insane theramin like action with an ARP synthesizer while the band replicated the sound of the hurricanes that would regularly batter their tiny islands. The three instrumentals are sonic interpretations of modern Fijian culture of the time from the tiny Pacific nation that had only recently gained independence.

Pavlov's Dog are one of the most revered prog outfits to have emerged from 1970s America. This WABX-FM radio broadcast is an extremely rare record of the original band, boasting the unique vocals of David Surkamp, as well as Steve Scorfina (lead guitar), Doug Rayburn (Mellotron, guitar), Tom Nickeson (keyboards), Richard Stockton (bass) and Kirk Sarkisian (drums). The material is culled from their classic albums Pampered Menial (1975) and At The Sound Of The Bell (1976), and is presented here together with background notes and images.

Recorded in 1981, this classic album took the band further down the road of despair, initiated with Seventeen Seconds, with an album full of mournful atmospheric tracks, including their hit single, 'Primary.' Includes 6 bonus tracks in a deluxe gatefold 180 gram 2LP version.

Released in 1980 as the follow-up to their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys, and featuring a new line-up that included Simon Gallup and Mathieu Hartley, this is the album that gave the band their first hit ('A Forest'), and also began to solidify the brooding atmospheric sound that would soon make these grandfathers of goth international pop icons. Includes bonus tracks in a deluxe gatefold 180 gram 2LP version.

Thunderous! Mammoth! And thats just the drum breaks! Add fuzzy guitars, full on wah-wah action, deep grooves and that KLASSIC KIWI D.I.Y attitude - ALRIGHT IN THE CITY is a collection of late sixties / early seventies F-U-N-K-Y hard rock from New Zealand.

Post-Woodstock, the NZ rock scene accelerated from the beat years of the mid sixties, gobbling some psychedelics on the way and concentrated on the G-R-O-O-V-E. With the availability of even-louder locally made amps and sympathetic producers, rhythm sections of the time could now easily compete with the screaming guitars. Bass players who had cut their teeth on many a garagey nugget in the NZ sixties scene Neil Edwards from The Underdogs, Dave Orams (ex Breakaways, Underdogs, & Bitter End) with Quincy Conserve, Rick White (ex Tom Thumb) in Farmyard all lay down some philthy bottom end action in their respective combos.



The NZ guitar gods of the time are all present on Alright In The City: Billy TK with his self penned track Highway for the Human Instinct; Jesse Harper / Doug Jerebine from his legendary UK recordings of 1969; Eddie Hansen blazes with Ticket on their 4+ minute monster Highway Of Love; and Harvey Mann leads The Underdogs on It's A Blessing. Co-compiler Grant Smithies writes ...

"With its rhino heavy drum breaks ... Harvey Mann sounds seriously seedy throughout, with his petulant nasal whine and grubby off mic groans, and his treble heavy guitar solo is sharp enough to draw blood"



Quincy Conserve provide the title track and to quote Grant Smithies -

"it's a miraculous pile up of blaring horns, syncopated handclaps, and (singer) Hayman's distinctive husky howl all nailed to the floor by drummer Richard Burgess, who just won't quit banging out those funky breaks."

This is the same Richard Burgess who would go on to produce Spandau Ballet and have some hand in starting the New Romantic movement.

Wellington, the New Zealand windy city and capital was the base for NZ HMV in the sixties and seventies. Their in-house studio was strongly influenced by Abbey Road and manned by some of NZ's most intuitive engineers and producers of the time, not to mention benefitting from a direct supply of EMI recording equipment. While they pumped out pop music for the nation they were no strangers to capturing the wilder side of Wellington rock and roll for single release. Many of these singles now fetch high prices with collectors.

Too Much Monkey Business is a collection of the fuzzy pop and garage nuggets that were recorded at HMV in Wellington between 1965 and 1969 with producers Frank Douglas, Peter Dawkins, and Howard Gable. Expect much abuse of fuzz boxes and locally made Jansen amplifiers.



















The Bitter End from the Hutt area of the Wellington region fire on all cylinders with the 200 mph version of this collection's title track, The Selected Few out-raunch The Pretty Things, and The Fourmyula get very very fuzzy with if I Had The Time, while poppers The Simple Image bring buzzy trouble to their rendition of the Fun And Games bubble gummer Grooviest Girl In The World.

Side one concentrates more on the R&B , tough beat, and garage, while side two gets a little more serious. The Top Shelf go Wah crazy, and the Avengers get a little drug fugged with Water Pipe. The Fourmyula's My Mama George is a dance floor filler with serious nods to the Small Faces and Easybeats. Drumming for the Fourmyula was a young Chris Parry who would go on to manage the Cure, start Fiction records and discover The Jam.

Mr Lee Grant is now professionally known by his real name of Bogdan Kominowski. Based in London, he has made a name for himself in theatre and Love from his first album is a dance floor favourite with European sixties DJs.

Arguably the most important figure in Turkish rock and psychedelia, Erkin Koray's 4th album Tutkusu was originally released in 1977 and has become one of the most sought after pieces of Turkish progressive psych-rock. Fetching big sums online the LP has been out of print for years. Sagara is delighted to repress it on vinyl to satisfy the demands of Turkish psych collectors everywhere with an essential piece from the legend himself.

In the summer of 1975, the Herbie Hancock Sextet made a hugely successful tour of Japan, which made people aware of a 'new' Hancock. The last LP that the keyboard virtuoso had recorded, "Thrust", was already one year old, and the film music for the Charles Bronson classic "Death Wish" was received negatively by his fans. At his concerts in Tokyo, Herbie Hancock reached back to his hits: "Maiden Voyage", "Chameleon", and the famous, soulful "Watermelon Man" made the fans at his concert hall and open-air appearances go wild with enthusiasm. Forty years later I have the courage to confess that I couldn't have cared less about this music at the time; in Europe there was enough that was new and exciting to see and listen to. However, this re-release in its original format has given me the opportunity to check out whether this music has withstood the test of time. And I must say: it has passed the test! Just listen to Herbie at his best!

"Rough And Ready" - Jeff Beck (g); Bob Tench (voc); Max Middelton (p); Clive Chaman (b); Cozy Powell (dr)



Great talent and low morals well describes the groupie-loving and colleague-killing Jeff Beck - and no fear of denial! But this fast-paced life demanded its toll, which came in the form of a life-threatening car accident. The ace on the guitar was forced to retire for two years but returned to the scene full of vigour and with new musicians to launch the second Jeff Beck Group.
"Rough And Ready" doesn't offer what might be expected from Brit Rock as far as a heavy sound or the boss's egomaniacal leaps on the guitar strings are concerned. Bob Tench opens the album with a surprisingly soulful sound and soaring falsetto in "Get The Feeling". But then in the next number, "Situation", we have crackling fire from the lead guitar and inventive solos - all easy-going and down-to-earth. Beck wouldn't tolerate routine rock: this is obvious from "Max's Tune", in which developing melodies are hacked to pieces by the clash of cymbals. To round off the album, the band sings about "Jody" with constantly varying rhythms and fascinating harmonic twists, which genially and firmly find their way along the narrow path between sentiment and testosterone. So much roughness is a must!

Subculture was formed by school friends Dean Tyrrell (Guitar) and Phil Parker (Bass) in late 1980. After some months find Nigel Kimberly (as drummer) and the singer Tom Hipkin. In April 1982, the band then recorded demos at the now mythical Spaceward Studios, with whom Stiff Little Fingers had recorded Inflammable Material, and Iron Maiden had cut their first recordings. Voice of the Young, University City and The first version of Stick Together.



During their first years supporting bands as Red Alert, at Skunx they also played with Blitz, The Business, and Peter and the Test Tube Babies amongst others, and established themselves in the street punk / Oi scene forming in London at the time. Mentions in the music press followed, with encouraging reviews, particularly in Sounds and Melody Maker. The Band were on the way: "Subculture show a lot of promise for the future " and "the sort of band you could see yourself raving about after seeing them a few times' Despite being labelled "young Cockney Rejects sound-a-likes', they didn't see it as such a bad thing at the time.



In May 1982, guitarist Dean received a phone call from Laurie Pryor inviting the band contribute a track on the 4th Oi! album, "Oi, Oi, that's yer lot!". They chose 'Stick Together', which was produced by Micky Geggus. The band's debut and only single "Loud and Clear E.P" came out in the early summer of 1983, with a new version of University City and Rogue Trooper recorded back at Spaceward especially for the single, so we all behaved ourselves and pretended to be professionals for the session. The single made a good showing in the Indie top 40 for a few weeks.



Common People Records presents all tracks recorded by the band in their first years (included Demos), with the 3 tracks that includes 'Loud & Clear' EP (1983), 'Give Up Boys' recorded at the same session that 'Loud & Clear' EP, 'Stick Together' anthem taken from 'Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot' classic compilation and the rest taken from ABH/Subculture 'The Oi! Collection' CD released by Captain Oi!. Limited edition to 520 copies!

Tacoma, Washington's The Ventures went from an unknown instrumental hot rod / surf rock group to million selling superstars practically overnight with the success of their very first single, "Walk Don't Run", a rock cover of a Chet Atkins track. With the release of the first 45 came huge success and national tours and the recording of their classic debut LP, titled Walk Don't Run after that legendary first piece of wax. The album is a blazing set of instrumental surf rock and hot rod jams and required listening for any fan of 60s surf and garage. Yet another amazing band from the Pacific Northwest, there truly was something in the water over there.

A compilation of classic 70s/80s AOR tracks, that make up the genre of Yacht Rock - smooth rock at its best!

So what of AOR, in fact what do we even mean by Adult Orientated Rock It's the music that sold albums by the truckload in the 70s and 80s, to an audience of rock fans who had graduated college and were getting stuck in to grown up jobs whilst listening to singers wearing per-ironic mullets. It was well-produced and nicely performed and just a little glossy. (...)These records could contain a hell of a lot of soul. Singers such as Daryl Hall or Michael McDonald had the best blue-eyed soul voices in the US and when they had hits many others tried to copy them.' (AOR Breaks liner notes).

Hailing from Brussels, Maoupa Mazzocchetti debuts on Mannequin Records with a killer 3 tracks proto electro / industrial single, anticipating his debut full length planned for the beginning of 2016. Deep, dark, stripped-down, Mazzocchetti's tracks regurgitate the lesson of the 80's Belgian ebm/minimal synth legends in a new and fresh nervous musical urgency. Tip!

This is a compilation of 16 UK 7" singles recorded between 1978 and 1982, compiled by JD Twitch, that showcases the DIY spirit of those times.

"If Punk was the nuclear detonation, the fallout that came after was where a lot of the most interesting music of that era was made. People who would never have thought to release a record before realised it was something they could do, and the end result was a DIY explosion. I've always loved music that doesn't try to fit in a particular genre, that is anti-canonical and doesn't care what else is going on in music at that time, that takes risks and is full of imagination and ideas that may or may not make any logical sense but that resulted in something unique, that ignores conventions about how a record SHOULD be produced and that was created simply because its creators felt the urge to express themselves and share the results with some other people. This compilation compiles 16 tracks that fulfil all those criteria. None of them had any success, most are (unjustly) obscure but every one of them has inspired me and would be in my ultimate 7" singles box." - JD Twitch.

This release has been a real labour of love involving tracing long-lost artists to far-flung corners of the globe, persuading them that the modern world needs to hear the music they made several decades ago, tracking down lost masters, lovingly restoring 7"s in the case of those where the masters were lost and then conceiving an elaborate package with detailed sleeve notes to house the double album package.

*NOTE - Due to legal problems with the original title a new version of the sleeve has had to be designed and manufactured. We still hope to make the original packaging available in a modified form but in the meantime this will be released in a gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves containing all the info and notes from the original.

The original 2 x LP vinyl edition was to come in a super deluxe package combining a double-sided black and white four x 12" panel sleeve, hand-folded into an LP sleeve with a colour insert containing colour photos of all the sleeves all inserted in a bespoke pvc wallet. The four x 12" panel sleeve contains sleeve notes and detailed overviews of each individual track by JD Twitch, and an introduction by New York's DIY expert Dan Selzer. Due to the huge amount of work involved putting the sleeve together, it would only ever exist in an edition of 500 copies.

standen, veröffentlichten sie 1997 ihr gleichnamiges Debütalbum und zwei Jahre darauf "Only The Strongest
Will Survive". Hierauf präsentierten sie einen zeitgemäßen, typisch britischen Indie-Pop mit Einflüssen von
Beat, Rock, Soul und Country. Nachdem Andy Bell die Band 1999 verließ, um bei Oasis als Bassist
einzusteigen, löste sich Hurricane #1 nach nur zwei Jahren wieder auf. Als Alex Lowe vor einiger Zeit an
Krebs erkrankte und diesen im Krankenhaus behandeln lassen musste, nutzte er den Aufenthalt, um sich mit
dem Schreiben neuer Songs für Hurricane #1 abzulenken. Das gelang ihm erstaunlich gut, denn
herausgekommen sind elf rundum fröhliche Stücke, deren Ursprung keinem einzigen Ton anzuhören ist. Gute
Laune garantiert.

Global Underground (GU) has returned under the ownership of one of its original founders, Andy Horsfield. The label returns with GU41 Naples- James Lavelle Presents UNKLE SOUNDS on 6 November. Release of 'Asleep In The Deep', taken from latest album by Mastodon 'Once More Round The Sun' on a 12' Picture Disc. The 12' features the album version on one side with an unreleased instrumental on the other.

Meat Loaf's Dead Ringer (1981) is the second of his three albums written entirely by Jim Steinman, among which Bat Out Of Hell was the first.

Once again, Jim Steinman wrote extended, operatic songs with hyperbolic lyrics and organized a backup band anchored by E Street Band members Max Weinberg (drums) and Roy Bittan (keyboards), while Meat Loaf sang with a passion all the more compelling for its hint of the ridiculous.

Four singles were released from Dead Ringer: 'Dead Ringer For Love', 'I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us', 'Read 'Em And Weep' and 'Peel Out'. The album reached #1 in the UK. The title track, featuring a perfectly cast Cher as duet singer, went Top Ten.

This is Full Blast Psychedelic Latino Cumbia Garage with a touch of cheesy 70's supermarket !!!

In 2005 He started playing and recording in Buenos Aires as a side project for his raw 60's Garage Punk outfit Los Peyotes (Dirty Water Records).

They toured Europe several times, after they split up he created the MIDI one man band, cutting old Cumbia tracks together on his computer and transformed them into a Psychedelic Garage Beat Dance Monster.

Today he writes all the songs by himself, for the recordings he went to the ESTUDIO7 (Buenos Aires, recorded and mixed by Miguel Mactas) .This is Full Blast Psychedelic Latino Cumbia Garage with a very cheesy touch of a 70's supermarket !!!

1982's Pornography, still considered by many to be their best, was the band's darkest album to date, cementing their role as beacons of the emergent gothic rock genre, with the band sporting their signature red lipstick and big hair look for the first time during this tour.

In 1965 The Knight Riders from Belmont on the San Francisco Peninsula recorded nine tracks for the legendary Autumn Records, also home of the Beau Brummels and responsible for the first studio recordings by The Grateful Dead and Grace Slick & The Great Society. It took three long years until one track from that session, the self-written garage punker 'I', was released on Vault Records' San Francisco Roots compilation album. It was this particular track that kept the band on the musical map over the years as a snotty '60s punk group from the Autumn Records roster. But it takes the complete session to prove the group's brilliance. Endowed with a great melodic feel, the enthusiasm of youth and the ability to sing astounding harmony vocals, the Knight Riders blended British Invasion and sixties garage-folk into amazíngly professional and impressive masterpieces. Over the years, one or two other tracks from the session found their way into the public domain, but the Knight Riders meanwhile grew famous amongst collectors for their rare late '60s psychedelic acetate LP recorded under the "Jungle" moniker. Represented here are the group's early roots as a young '60s garage band from the local San Francisco music scene, gifted with a musical legacy that would have made a great mid '60s album. Eight unbelievable catchy and infectious group originals and an unheard killer folk-rock harmony version of Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' that has the same class as the Byrd's 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. Finally in its completeness and for the first time ever on vinyl - here are the Knight Riders.

After just three releases to date - the AA single 'Parasite' / 'Do You Know Me' and the follow-up tracks 'The Answer' and 'Parking Lot' - London-based newcomers VANT have already made a huge statement with extensive support from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, XFM and 6Music; shows with Royal Blood and Hinds; plus a succession of positive press coverage.

A-side, 'Parking Lot', is a concoction of stop-start riffs and fiery grunge dynamics that's topped by Mattie Vant's coolly composed vocal delivery. When set alongside the rest of their emerging discography, 'Parking Lot' proves that VANT possess the attitude and the aptitude to match the comparisons that they've been earning.

B-side, 'The Answer', is an onslaught of fiery dynamics and garage rock attitude. It maintains the chaotically controlled spirit of VANT's previous releases, but also takes a different approach with a powerful instrumental intro that still gives vocalist/guitarist Mattie Vant's musical arrangement time to flourish.

VANT is the brainchild of frontman Mattie Vant. Born out of discontent and frustration at the fucked up world we currently inhabit, he built an arsenal of songs that are short, poignant and socially aware remedies to the ignorance of most modern consumerist pop music. Hailing from the ex-coal mining town of Seaham in the north-east, Mattie is influenced by a vast spectrum of musical genres which are then all condensed into two-and-a-half-minute onslaughts.

VANT's first summer of festival touring included Reading, Leeds, The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, Calling Festival, Secret Garden Party, Boardmasters and Bingley Live. VANT will next embark upon many more shows across the UK this year.

Fünf neue Songs, vereint in einer weltweit auf 1.000 Exemplare limitierten 10''. Wo das mit Kritikerlob
überhäufte Vorgängeralbum "The Spirit" raumgreifend und atmosphärisch Schwerpunkte setzte, arbeiten
Hugo Race und seine Männer auf "False Idols" den rauen, dreckigen Kern ihres Sounds heraus. Beide
Scheiben wurden im gleichen Studio in Melbourne aufgenommen. Wie Hugo Race sehr treffend bemerkt,
handelt es sich bei der EP um "a wild ride". Die fünf Songs erzählen eigenständige Geschichten und geben
den Blick frei auf die düstere Seite der Musik und Seele von Hugo Race & The True Spirit. Während das
hypnotische "Hematite" mit seinem rollenden Rhythmus zusammen mit Don Rogall geschrieben wurde,
besticht die düstere Delta-Blues-Nummer "Magnetic Girl" durch das atmosphärische Gitarrenspiel Patrick
Browns von The Hellhounds. "Lip Service" und das Titelstück "False Idols" zählen zu den intensivsten Songs,
die Hugo Race mit The True Spirit je aufgenommen hat.

KIM JUNG MI 'Now' At the dawn of the 1970's, South Korea's rock music scene was at its zenith. Much of the reason for this was the god-like musical touch of guitar wizard, songwriter, producer, and arranger Shin Joong Hyun. For this album, he took a young girl named Kim Jung Mi, and transformed her from a wallflower student into a folk-psych chanteuse in record time (if Francoise Hardy is the Marianne Faithful of France, then Kim Jung Mi is, I suppose, the Francoise Hardy of Korea). The ten songs on Now were written and recorded during 1973 with a firm mandate to create a truly psychedelic sound experience. On each number, Shin Joong Hyun and his backing group laid down pure emotion on tape. Mr. Shin's fuzz guitar weaves in and out of the tracks, interlaced with his own poetic musings on nature (spring, sun, flowers, rain, and wind), all else in the world apart from Kim Jung Mi's soothing voice and insistent bass that crouches and creeps, depending on its mood, displaced. This raw feeling, combined with Kim Jung Mi's seductive, expressive vocals and empathetic string orchestration, resulted in an album that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Mr. Shin's ethereal cover photo—the blue graininess of the sky dripping into fading clouds, with Kim Jung Mi surrounded on her sky-high isolated mountaintop by flowers—is the perfect image to represent what is, without a doubt, one of the best psychedelic albums ever created. Our version of this quintessence of psychedelia features Korean/English lyric translations, rare photos, re-mastered audio, and comprehensive liner notes by Kevin 'Sipreano' Howes and Shin Joong Hyun expert Jae-Myeong Ro (director of the Korean Classical Music Record Museum, and author of the book Shin Joong Hyun and Beautiful Country. The 180 gram vinyl version of 'Now' comes in a deluxe old-style jacket, with OBI, and has a full color insert with liner notes and rare photos; the deluxe mini-LP sleeve CD version has a 20-page booklet with rare photos, and great stories about Shin Joong Hyun and Kim Jung Mi's continuing place of prominence in the Korean music scene.

The first six tracks on this release were all actually released as singles in the early 80's - "Don't You Ever Let Me Down" was the song that won the band on the 1982 televised "Battle of the Bands" competition. This led to a deal with RCA Records who issued two further 45's "Going Out" and "All Or Nothing". The rest of the tracks was recorded by the original line up, they've remained locked away in record company vaults. There's even a song featuring Shane Woolridge on lead vocals called "The Battle Song". Great artwork with band bio on the back cover and a big A2 size poster inside with an old band picture. This is a limited edition release of 500 copies.

riginally released on LINK RECORDS in 1988, this album has been re-issued on CD several times but never back on vinyl. We have been in touch with two of the band members, Mark "Timmo" Timson (Vocalist) and Mark McGee (Guitarist), both of them wrote almost all the songs of The Glory and we asked them to help us with this release we licensed from Captain Oi!. Both of them sent us pictures of the band which we used for the insert pages, Mark McGee wrote us a band history that you can find on the backcover and Mark "Timmo" Timson wrote all the lyrics so we could include in the record. This is a thing we love including in our releases, especially for Oi!sters from abroad that have it difficult to understand the songs if they don't have some lyrics to read and translate. The album includes two bonus tracks taken from the "Skins and Punks" Vol. 3 compilation. We just couldn't leave out "Violent World" and "England's Glory", this last song is a top classic of the band since their early days.
