Frenzi Records presents a deluxe double disc remaster of Life Sentence in the Cathouse, the sixth studio album by maverick American artist Tav Falco and his 'wreckabilly' combo Panther Burns.
Raised in rural Arkansas, Tav Falco formed the first incarnation of Panther Burns in Memphis in 1979, offering an artful mix of punk, garage, rockabilly and 'art damage' influences, sharing stages with the likes of The Cramps and The Gun Club. Legendary friend and mentor Alex Chilton (ex-Box Tops and Big Star) orchestrated their acclaimed debut long player Behind the Magnolia Curtain for Rough Trade, before going on to produce the next three Panther Burns albums, using vintage Memphis studios such as Ardent, Sam Phillips Recording and Easley McCain.
Life Sentence... is the sixth Panther Burns album, produced by Chilton and originally released in 1991. 'This was our last album recorded in Memphis,' explains Tav. 'We invited the finest musicians we knew in our sphere: Mabon 'Teenie' Hodges, the Hi Records guitarist and hit maker for Al Green, wrote a song for the album and played guitar. Jim Dickinson came in on piano and acoustic guitar on which he always played in only one key: open G. On bass we had Roland Robinson, who at 14 years of age started on the road as bandleader for Eddie Floyd. The Easley brothers played dog house bass and guitars.'
 
Stand-out tracks include Torture, Guarda Che Luna and a muscular version of Cropper/Floyd classic My Mind Was Messed Up At the Time. Disc 2 offers a complete (and thunderous) live show recorded at the band's tenth anniversary show at the Messepalast, Vienna, in May 1988.
Tav Falco & Panther Burns have been cited as an influence by everyone from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to The Fall, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized. 'Renegade Tav Falco explores a highly personal vision of rock n' roll,' enthused Edwin Pouncey in The Wire in November 2014. 'Possessed by a wide range of influences that range from country and blues, novelty numbers and punk rock, to La Monte Young styled drone. But Falco has earned the right to stand shoulder to shoulder with the musicians and artists he so fervently admires.'
Life Sentence in the Cathouse is released through bespoke imprint Frenzi in an attractive tri-fold digipack. Also released are deluxe 2xCD editions of The World We Knew (1987) and Return of the Blue Panther (1990), plus 'best of' anthology Hip Flask.

COLD WAR KIDS "HOLD MY HOME"
Cold War Kids - das sind Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Dann Gallucci, Joe Plummer und Matthew Schwartz. Gegründet 2004, feierte die Band bereits zwei Jahre später mit ihrem Debütalbum Robbers & Cowards ihren Durchbruch. 2008 folgte das etwas melancholischere Loyalty To Loyalty, während Mine Is Yours das eklektische Repertoire der Gruppe 2011 um eingängige, hymnische Melodien erweiterte. Mit dem 2013 veröffentlichten Album Dear Miss Lonelyhearts und der Hit-Single "Miracle Mile" kehrte die Band zu ihrem rauen, ungeschliffenen Live-Sound zurück. Das fünfte Album der Band "HOLD MY HOME", das von der energiegeladenen Single "All This Could Be Yours" eröffnet wird, erscheint am 6. März.

First ever legit vinyl reissue of Rick Saucedo's mind-expanding, one-man, multi-tracked private press miracle in sound from 1978.

Heaven Was Blue' drifts in the same sonic milieu as fellow travelers in '60s square peg joy Darius, Marcus, D.R. Hooker (without the lounge allusions), or late period psych adventurers Michael Angelo and Bobb Trimble—and his concentration and vision equals or exceeds these international underground heroes.

Rick Saucedo is an internationally-known Elvis tribute artist, actor and singer-songwriter from Chicago. In 1978, after some years of doing his Elvis show, he decided he wanted to have his own identity, recording an album with his own songs. The idea of Heaven Was Blue' was born while he was doing the role of Elvis in the Broadway musical The Legend Lives On'. Influenced by The Beatles and Pink Floyd, Rick created Heaven Was Blue' for himself, as he didn't care about the music of the time. All instruments on the album were played by Rick with a couple of friends helping him out. Songs like Reality', which was written in a graveyard just after the passing of Mr. Presley or In My Mind', which dated back to 1967, written just after Sgt. Pepper' had come out, are prime examples of dreamy acid psych with Lennon-esque vocals, lysergic guitars & studio effects. There's also a couple of fuzz rockers with a strong '50s vibe and then there's the album centerpiece: the impressive 18-minute Heaven Was Blue' suite, which Rick envisioned as an acid trip dream'. In words of Patrick Lundborg: ...Saucedo pulls it off. Somehow like how you turn the wheels on a kaleidoscope, new melodies, guitar figures and arrangements emerge out of the old ones every three minutes, each sequence more swirling and enchanting that the last, with a sense of progression throughout.'

This expanded reissue offers a full extra album of bonus tracks:

Oh My God' was the conclusion to Reality' / In My Mind', recorded in 1978 but omitted from the original album at the last moment. Previously unreleased on vinyl until now.

Baby in the Sand / It Burns Again Today' were written during the 'Heaven Was Blue' sessions but went unrecorded until 1991 and they're terrific sitar-drenched melodic psych in the same vein as the original album. Previously unreleased on vinyl until now.

And there's also both sides of the post- album single Reality' b/w History Makin' - Country Shakin',' which featured different mixes and an alternate mix of Reality'. These tracks were originally released as promo 45s in very limited quantities.

Rick Saucedo is mainly known as an Illinois-based Elvis impersonator, and a successful one at that, but some time when the King's ghost wasn't looking he sneaked out and cut himself two sides of music that were as far to the other end of the spectrum as you can imagine, dreamy, melodic '60s-style psychedelia... Heaven Was Blue' is a montage of everything you hallucinated on the walls when discovering the greatness of psychedelia long ago: "Sunshine Superman," "Porpoise Song," "Renaissance Fair," "Matilda Mother," they're all in there—along with thunder and rain sound FX, meandering acid guitars, and howling dogs.'

Most people were introduced to the bizarre psychedelic sound of The Monocles (later The Higher Elevation) thanks to the inclusion of the bizarre The Spider & The fly' and The Diamond Mine' on the legendary Pebbles Vol. 3 (the acid-punk' volume). These youngsters from Colorado formed in 1964 and they were famous for driving to gigs in a custom Cadillac hearse. Between 1965 and 1968, they released a bunch of singles for different labels: Chicory, Denco, Liberty...

This retrospective collection includes the best of their 45 sides plus some previously unreleased on vinyl tracks.

Hailing from Greeley, CO, the Monocles served as an unwitting example of the strange effect LSD had on America's youth during the mid- to late 1960s. Early on, the Monocles started out as a fairly ordinary pop-rock outfit. Then in mid-1966 the Monocles began to change, they cut a tune called "Psychedelic (That's Where It's At)" that led to some truly bent sessions later on, most notably the twisted psychodramas of "The Spider and the Fly," "The Boogie Man," and "The Diamond Mine" (the theme song for Dave Diamond's Los Angeles radio show).' - Mark Deming (allmusic)

We are really proud to announce the reissue of one of the most important Dutch Wave bands THE ACTOR, with their seminal 1982 tape "EXPLODED VIEW".
"In the beginning of the eighties, a new phenomenon emerged: home taping. This way of recording resulted in a lot of noise. But that was less important then getting one's music out to the public. A well known label for cassette bands in those days was the dutch Trumpett Tapes. They were the first to publish the music of The Actor, who became their top selling cassette band in 1982 and 1983. The Actor's first release was Exploded View in 1982. The songs - sung both in English and German - often related to fashion, modernism, dancing and appearence. This made The Actor 'quite fashionable."

The Lucid Dream's 2nd album follows on from 2 hugely successful singles taken from the long player, 'Moonstruck' and 'Unchained', both released in 2014. Between them the singles gained support from BBC Radio 1, 2 plus major support from BBC 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley (including 2 sessions), Steve Lamacq, 6 Music Recommends, Tom Robinson and Gideon Coe). 'Moonstruck' earned the accolade of the fastest sell-out in Too Pure Singles Club history, selling out a month in advance of release, with both singles coinciding with sold-out UK dates.
 
Formed in Carlisle, Cumbria, in 2008, throughout 2010-2013 followed a string of sold-out 7's, an EP and the debut album, 'Songs Of Lies and Deceit'. These releases coincided with support slots/tours with Death In Vegas, Clinic, Spectrum, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Magic Band, The Aliens and Dead Skeletons, to name a few. Always a band with the ability to combine melody with experimentation and noise, it came as no surprise that earlier releases gained plaudits across the board.

From a live perspective, The Lucid Dream have completed 4 European tours, and appeared at festivals such as The Big Chill, Kendal Calling, and notably being the only act to be asked to perform at all 3 events held for the Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia.

The debut long player 'Songs Of Lies and Deceit' was released in August 2013 to critical acclaim from Uncut, Clash, Q, Rocksound, Classic Rock Magazine, and leading French print mag Les Inrocks. Reviews heaped praise on the bands ability to make a sonically challenging album, whilst maintaining an ear for a tune throughout.
 
New album 'The Lucid Dream' demonstrates the band covering new areas, as always is the ethos of band. 'Mona Lisa' and 'Cold Killer' channel the influence of German geniuses Can and Neu!, through to the free-form jazz/noise freak-out that is 'Darkest Day'/'Head Musik'. The success of 'Moonstruck' and 'Unchained' has already shown the ability to have appeal across the board, whilst 'Unchained Dub' (already a live favourite) expresses the love of King Tubby/Lee 'Scratch' Perry, already noted by fans and critics alike that The Lucid Dream are the only band of their ilk touching across so many areas. 'Morning Breeze', throughout its 7 minutes displays feedback experiments in the vein of Sonic Youth, through to the spaced-out bliss demonstrated by Verve. The album closes with 'You + I', a nod to early 60s pop, meets Mazzy Star, meets Spiritualized circa 'Ladies and Gentlemen'.

According to big brother internet, a time capsule is "a historic cache of goods or information, usually intended as a method of communication with future people and to help future archaeologists, anthropologists or historians. Time capsules are sometimes created and buried during celebrations such as a World's fair, a cornerstone laying for a building or at other events."

Now, let's not jump to conclusions here: the chance that The Neon Judgement will go all Stonehenge and start burying stuff while running naked around a pile of very big rocks is rather slim. On the other hand, "a method of communication with future people" Sounds about right. Because, in a way, communication was always at the core of what The Neon judgement was all about. Thát and the music, of course: from the word 'go' in 1980, TB Frank and Dirk Da Davo were deeply in love with music, provided it had soul, attitude and swagger. Bo Diddley, the Velvets, early Stones, Suicide, Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Cash, Marc Bolan and the Sex Pistols all had it. At the same time though, these two kids from Leuven, a small university town in Belgium, that uncoolest of countries, were determined to create their own turf.

And so they did.

What followed was a long journey where soul, attitude, swagger and communication were translated into jams, songs, and countless gigs that confirmed The Neon Judgement's agenda; speak out about things that matter: media manipulation, love, the importance of being your own, dance if you want to and, again, love. An unbelievable ride and a rollercoaster of incredible highs, great friendship and, especially, great music. Today, the band are rightly revered as one of EBM's godfathers, but to limit their influence to that particular niche would be unfair. The Neon Judgement were also about slightly dark pop music, playful experimentation and injecting some hard-needed rock 'n' roll into an electronic canvas. And, for that, they are and will remain absolutely unique.

So yes, a time capsule is definitely in order. And it will be something special: exclusive Best Of's on vinyl and cd, a brand new 7" vinyl with premiered radio edits of "TV Treated" and "The Fashion Party", a 10" vinyl with brand new cover versions of "Kashmir" (Led Zeppelin), "Venus In Furs" (Velvet Underground), "Suzy Q" (CCR), "Hot Love" (T.Rex) and "Human Fly" (The Cramps) and the DVD containing the "The Neon Judgement '2010A1984' DocuVision" documentary. And to top it off, a special edition of the Neon Judgement Newspaper: something to brighten up those Sunday mornings, surely!

This single is taken from their second album 'Like a Pyramid of Fire' out in April 2015.After honing their craft across the UK and through Europe - with the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Warlocks, Spectrum, Mark Gardener (Ride) and members of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized and The Brian Jonestown Massacre - WNS completed their debut album in 2010 with the assistance of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3 / Spectrum / E.A.R) and magician Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals). Released by cult California based label Alive Records (whose back-catalogue includes releases from The Black Keys, Beachwood Sparks, Iggy Pop and James Williamson and The Soledad Brothers) in 2010 (US) / 2011 (UK), the eponymous debut was greeted with widespread critical acclaim and WNS toured through Europe in its support. 'Like a Pyramid of Fire' sees the band take their trademark wall of sound - at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out - and conjure from it a sonic palette with range and depth. WNS worked closely with producer / DJ Phil Kieran and again with Cian Ciaran and the result is a metronomic and hypnotic onslaught of melody, groove and exploration which goes beyond the standard tropes of psychedelia.

February 23rd 2015 sees the release of the latest special limited DAVID BOWIE 7" picture disc, the 40th anniversary edition of 'YOUNG AMERICANS'

Originally released in the spring of 1975 and taken from the album of the same name, this 2007 Tony Visconti single mix is making its vinyl debut.

The AA-side, which runs at 33 1/3 r.p.m, IT'S GONNA BE ME (WITH STRINGS) is an alternate version of an outtake from the 1974 Sigma Sound sessions in Philadelphia. It was first released on the YOUNG AMERICANS album special edition in 2007 and is also making it first appearance on vinyl.

Mannequin Records is proud to present one of the most rare and unknown Italian Minimal Synth bands from the 80's. Musumeci were formed in Turin at the beginning of 1985, from an idea of Mauro M. (synthesizers - ex guitar player of Rude Pravo) and Franco G.
(programming - ex noise maker of Errata-S-Corrige).
The group was founded as a link and expression of various experiences, aimed, at least initially, to highlight the individual personalities of the members. The formation settles after six months of testing with the final entry of Laura G. (ex-keyboardist of Rude Pravo) and Paul C. (voice of K Position). Musumeci were playing several shows, preceded by long monologues in which find space rumorism, electrical scans, voices, screams, etc.
Presented here are the two super rare demo tapes that Musumeci recorded in 1985 ("Schwarz Morgen") and in 1986 ("Zusammen"), on their own label Zeltweg.

He has been killing it in both the recording studio and on the live stage. While on his Brown Sabbath (Brownout) & Spanish Gold albums/tours he found stolen moments in hotel rooms whilst on tour to send musical compadre Shawn Lee tracks for the second Electric Peanut Butter Company album entitled Trans- Atlantic Psych Classics Vol 1 !!!!! The band of brothers created the music in the same fashion as their debut but with a noticeably fuzzier more dirtier edge. The album starts with Flexi Funk. On this track the drums were recorded straight to Flexi disc on a 1950's tube machine which sounds other worldly and crusty as f#@k!!! Other highlights include the psych pop gem Spread The Jam which declares the duos intentions. The album has a more heavy psych vibe than it's predecessor but deftly continues a logical progression for Los Hermanos Adrian Quesada & Shawn Lee. From the early 70s to the mid-80s, this self-taught musician composed about twenty albums of production and library music with generic cover art and titles (Out of the Way, Magical Ring, Keys of the Future, Pulsations, More and More, etc.) that evoke interstellar travel. These experimental discs, made with love, humility and rudimentary means, had no ambition other than to accompany other peoples' images. By exhuming these obscurities from the dustbin of history, BORN BAD have decided otherwise. Und die 20minütige Weltraum-Abfahrt "2112" gilt unter Rush-Fans gemeinhin als die beste Nummer, die diese seit 25 Jahren ohne Besetzungswechsel und Skandale auskommende Legende jemals geschrieben hat. Auf Konzerten haben bei diesem Opus schon Generationen von Rock-Liebhabern vor Freude geweint!

Beach Beach have spent two years swimming, front crawl style. Fast and forceful, these Majorcans fled the island they were born in and squeezed every song in their debut album Tasteless Peace (La Castanya, 2012), a record that dares you to go underwater and see how long you can go without breathing, to the last drop. Now they are back with a brand new recipe in their hands and an expanded set of cooks. In The Sea Pau Riutort and Tomeu Mulet have benefited from the participation of Àngel Garau on drums and Lluís Cabot on guitar.

Is there anything shinier than a guitar through a chorus effect, a 12-string and an acoustic guitar playing in unison Probably, you would only be able to get the same feeling by staring at the sun without your valued shades. Fast paced rhythms, overdriven basses and beautiful background vocals. They have dared to do it all: percussion arrangements, guitar solos, instrumental parts, harmony vocals... Maybe the bands from the C-86 movement will come to mind, something that the wonderful 'Just Like Before' corroborates. Crystal-clear guitar lines may remind you of The Smiths as well. But let's not forget The Feelies, or New Zealand's kiwi-pop, or Postcard Records, or American power pop à la early The Last.

The Sea greets you and then says goodbye, leaving the gift of 12 cuts with a distinct radio jingle feel, as fresh as taking a bath by the seashore rocks in the afternoon o having a glass of lemonade with lots of ice. As it was the case with Tasteless Peace, this is a feeling that contrasts with a set of lyrics that comes across as less summery, more metaphorical, inspired by Blai Bonet and his novel El Mar ('The Sea', hence the album title) or Llorenç Villalonga. Lost opportunities and growing up in a world full of cowards seem to leave no other option than running away towards some uncertain location, but always forward.

Beach Beach will rather face anguish by lying in the sun, pouring water on their wrists and the back of their necks, like moms do. They couldn't do it any other way; they've thrown the fishing line again and have taken enough fish out of the water to make us all enjoy a delicious seafood paella. It might lack the shellfish, but The Sea is a brilliant record.

The two components of bass and drums are bound together so tight on Of Ruin that they resemble a singular gnarled entity, kneading together groove and melody like putty in the palm of their hands, with explosive results. Intrinsically heavy and elastically supercharged, Ghold create a strain of viscous rock that is as plainly devastating as it is capricious, pushing down the scales in a myriad of manners to achieve an ever heavier outcome. The wealth of ideas presented by Paul Antony and Aleks Wilson on Of Ruin surpass the imaginations of the majority, and it's easy to see why Terrorizer tipped them as one to watch for 2015.

The alchemic duo fuse elements of power violence, doom, gloom and heavy rock with enchanting vocal incantations. Since their inception in 2012, Ghold have been steadily amassing fans of their filth jams from countless shows performing alongside the likes of Yob, Pallbearer, Stephen O'Malley and Årabrot.

Of Ruin was mastered by James Plotkin, and the CD and LP artwork features different paintings by Alex Virji.

The latest single from Jack White's record-breaking Lazaretto album showcases the anthemic ''Would You Fight For My Love'' a song that weaves in and out of movements and moods and crushes the listener with intensity. The b-side features a stunning cover of ''Parallel'' written by Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather) and Brendan Benson (the Raconteurs) and originally released under Fertita's Hello=Fire moniker. In addition, the artwork of the single fits in with that of the previous five picture sleeves of Jack White singles, a continuing visual narrative progressing one record at a time.

"Is it in you to be honest" So eindringlich fragen uns Kodaline nach unserer Ehrlichkeit. "Honest" heißt auch das erste Stück aus der kommenden Platte, das jüngst veröffentlicht wurde. Produzent war Jacknife Lee, der auch schon für Robbie Williams, Taylor Swift oder Snow Patrol an den Reglern stand und der Kodaline einen neuen, vielschichtigeren, aber auch strengeren Klang verpasste. Geblieben ist der epische und breite Gitarrensound, der aufsteigende Refrain und die charakteristisch hohe Stimme von Frontmann Steven Garrigan, denen Lee aber eine klarere Kante zeigt. "Honest" klingt klarer, transparenter, ohne an Fülle zu verlieren, rockiger, ohne aus der melancholischen Tiefe aufzutauchen. Das hat den Iren gut getan und macht auch das ganze zweite, noch namenlose Album noch besser als das ohnehin schon großartige Debüt "In A Perfect World".

Frenzi Records presents a deluxe double disc remaster of Return of the Blue Panther, the fifth studio album by maverick American artist Tav Falco and his 'wreckabilly' combo Panther Burns.
Raised in rural Arkansas, Tav Falco formed the first incarnation of Panther Burns in Memphis in 1979, offering an artful mix of punk, garage, rockabilly and 'art damage' influences, sharing stages with the likes of The Cramps and The Gun Club. Legendary friend and mentor Alex Chilton (ex-Box Tops and Big Star) orchestrated their acclaimed debut long player Behind the Magnolia Curtain for Rough Trade, before going on to produce the next three Panther Burns albums, using vintage Memphis studios such as Ardent, Sam Phillips Recording and Easley McCain.
Return of the Blue Panther is the fifth Panther Burns album, originally released in 1990. , 'This was our first recorded without a producer,' explains Tav. 'Not only that, but there also was trouble in the bedroom. Girlfriends of the band suddenly began to demur our affections. Hence, the lonely tonalities and twilight atmosphere heard on this set.'
Stand-out tracks include Surfside Date, Fun Mob and Girls On Fire. Disc 2 offers live album Midnight in Memphis, recorded at the band's tenth anniversary show at the Warehouse, Memphis, on February 10th 1989.

2015 sees the return of Welsh psychedelicists White Noise Sound with their second album 'Like a Pyramid of Fire'.After honing their craft across the UK and through Europe - with the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Warlocks, Spectrum, Mark Gardener (Ride) and members of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized and The Brian Jonestown Massacre - WNS completed their debut album in 2010 with the assistance of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3 / Spectrum / E.A.R) and magician Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals). Released by cult California based label Alive Records (whose back-catalogue includes releases from The Black Keys, Beachwood Sparks, Iggy Pop and James Williamson and The Soledad Brothers) in 2010 (US) / 2011 (UK), the eponymous debut was greeted with widespread critical acclaim and WNS toured through Europe in its support. 'Like a Pyramid of Fire' sees the band take their trademark wall of sound - at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out - and conjure from it a sonic palette with range and depth. WNS worked closely with producer / DJ Phil Kieran and again with Cian Ciaran and the result is a metronomic and hypnotic onslaught of melody, groove and exploration which goes beyond the standard tropes of psychedelia.

Production duties on this album fell to esteemed metal producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Cathedral, Angel Witch).

Bad Guys have played at several ATP festivals without ever being asked, razed a chalet to the ground on one occasion and got heavily fined, then next time played directly outside the security guards' accommodation and got shut down. Learning from experience they opted to play inside the main building next time and were shut down due to being a fire hazard.

They've played on the fourth plinth in Trafalger Square as part of Anthony Gormley's 'One and Other' art installation, they were told to shut down then as well even though you were supposed to be able to do whatever you like.

They've played in a theatre, as part of a poorly judged bit of experimentalism by a director. They weren't shut down but it was clear everyone wanted them to leave.

Then they played in the life drawing room in the Royal Academy (the oldest life drawing room in the country), where they performed naked and people drew them, with varying degrees of success. They weren't shut down and lot's of intellectuals said it was interesting.
 
As well as all this stuff they've played in countless pubs and clubs and parties up and down the country and around Europe and have been generally very well received. Apart from in Glasgow where the promoter didn't bother turning up, the DJ played techno to warm up and one drunk woman kept shouting at them to shut up.

Nach über zwanzig Jahren als Bassist betrat Mendel im August 2012 zum ersten Mal das Studio 606 der Foo Fighters um ein neues Kapitel als Frontmann und Songwriter aufzuschlagen. If I Kill This Thing We're All Going To Eat For A Week entstand zu einem Großteil parallel zu "Sonic Highways" der Foo Fighters. Das hieß: Montags bis freitags Foo Fighters, am Wochenende Solo-Projekt.

Link Wray's incredible influence on 50 years of rock and roll following his debut single is no mystery to anyone. Charlie Winston hat in seinem Leben bereits so einiges erlebt: von den musikalischen Anfängen in einer Teenieband im ostenglischen Suffolk, als Musikstudent in London (Jazzklavier), als Bassist im National Youth Reggae Ensemble, als Komponist für Film und Theater, als Interpret einer Coverversion des Spencer Davis Group-Klassikers "I'm A Man" für einen Autowerbespot, als Anzeigenmotiv für die Pariser Galeries Lafayette, als Frankreichs "Bestdressed Man Of The Year" oder auf Europatournee mit Peter Gabriel (einem seiner ersten Fans, der so begeistert war, dass er ihn auch in sein Studio eingeladen hat). Musikfans hierzulande kennen Winston spätestens seit 2009: nachdem sein Song "Like A Hobo" in Frankreich zum Nummer-Eins-Hit geworden war, stürmte die Single auch die deutschen Charts und belegte schlussendlich Platz 16. Noted Art And Terrorism Since 1990: The infamous Headbutt were one of the most cacophonous live bands of the decade, multiple basses, multiple percussionists grinding out monsterous grooves and feedback for a sub primal vocal howl from somewhere beyond the edge of the known world. Lost in the slew of metal bands and techno that swamped the stages and pages at the time, Headbutt plowed an increasingly lone furrow with their infectious brand of extreme music and playful attitude. That John Peel loved them says it all.

This live album catches Headbutt at a peak of driven intensity with a set of songs ranging from the caustic rhythmic gyrations of 'Mouse Patrol' and 'Oh Barcelona' to the rampant almost garage rock of 'The Shooting Party' and 'I Fix Shit' (both songs released as 7's back in the day). This touring line up was a stripped down 4-piece comprising of Keith Goldhanger (bass & vocals), Ashley Davies (bass), Kirsten Reynolds (percussion), Lewis Richardson (percussion). The last three tracks are some recently unearthed material originally recorded for an abandoned EP project with Chris P additionally on percussion duties.

Ashley, Kirsten and Lewis tthese days play with The London Dirthole Company, Keith occasionally joins them for the odd song as well as playing along with Ashley on the upcoming Hercules II album on Radiowave.

Joy Of A Toy is the debut solo album from the bassist and principal songwriter of the Soft Machine, originally released in 1969. With Ayers playing an impressive list of instruments and bandmate Robert Wyatt on drums for most of the songs, many of the tracks recall early Soft Machine, and feature Ayers prog-pop songwriting sensibilities in full force. Drawing inspiration from producers Jacknife Lee (Snow Patrol, R.E.M), Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding) and 'A Perfect World' producer Steve Harris, Kodaline saw fully-fledged songs flow out of them much quicker than they ever anticipated.
'If you'd told us at the start of the summer that we'd be finished our album by autumn we wouldn't have believed you,' says singer Steve Garrigan. 'It happened so quickly. A lot of the songs were done live in the studio, on the spot.'
As on Kodaline's debut 'In A Perfect World', Steve wrote the bulk of the lyrics for the album with guitarist Mark, bassist Jason and drummer Vinny pitching in on all the music. In first single 'Honest' they have a gamechanger. Featuring a stadium sized chorus of which Coldplay would be proud, the single highlights the ambition on 'Coming Up For Air'.
Having toured 'In A Perfect World' across the globe, playing festivals and shows here there and everywhere, Kodaline are playing a slew of live dates across the UK in February and March.
Other highlights from the album include the anthemic 'The One', the driving percussion of 'Ready', the acoustic and string laden 'Better' and the rousing album closer 'Love Will Set You Free'.
In 'Coming Up For Air' Kodaline have managed to record an album that is not only a sonic step on, but one which at its core retains the ability to connect instantly with an audience, to share the emotions in their songs and to pull the listener in to their world..
