Brutal Youth (1994) was Elvis Costello’s return to the sound heard earlier in his career. It was the first album in almost 10 years since he played with his backing band The Attractions on Blood And Chocolate (1986). Born Declan Patrick MacManus, the Grammy Award winning artist has had a fruitful career with over 35 albums to his name. Six of these, including Brutal Youth, were included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Featuring Nick Lowe on bass. Brutal Youth is unmistakably the best album Costello made in the ‘90s.

'“Hey Clockface” was recorded in Helsinki, Paris and New York and mixed by Sebastian Krys in Los Angeles. Following the solo recording of, “No Flag”, “Hetty O’Hara Confidential” and “We Are All Cowards Now” at Suomenlinnan Studio, Helsinki by Eetü Seppälä in February 2020, Costello immediately traveled to Paris for a weekend session at Les Studios Saint Germain. Costello tells us, “I sang live on the studio floor, directing from the vocal booth. We cut nine songs in two days. We spoke very little. Almost everything the musicians played was a spontaneous response to the song I was singing. I’d had a dream of recording in Paris like this, one day.” The assembled album, “Hey Clockface” is “An Elvis Costello & Sebastian Krys Production” following on from their work together on Elvis Costello and The Imposters Grammy-winning album “Look Now.” The motion picture of “We Are All Cowards Now” by Eamon Singer & Arlo McFurlow features images of flowers & pistols, smoke & mirrors, tombstones & monuments, courage & cowardice, peace love and misunderstanding.

The lyrics have been precisely translated to have the featured Latin artists sing to the original multis. The Juliet Letters is the 14th studio album by singer and songwriter Elvis Costello. Originally released in 1993, the critically acclaimed album peaked at No. 18 on the UK album chart. The entire instrumental backing for The Juliet Letters is provided by The Brodsky Quartet. Costello had become interested in classical music around the time of Spike and began attending classical concerts. One of the ensembles he enjoyed most was the Brodsky Quartet. Once Costello and the Quartet got to know each other, they were keen on working together, eventually resulting in a full length album.

Costello described The Juliet Letters as “a song sequence for string quartet and voice and it has a title. It’s a little bit different. It’s not a rock opera. It’s a new thing.”

The album is available as a limited edition of 2500 individually numbered copies on purple coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

From Elvis In Memphis is the tenth studio album by Elvis Presley, originally released in 1969. The recording of the album marked the definite return of Presley to non-soundtrack albums, after finishing his movie contract with Paramount pictures. Motivated by his early influences in Country, Rhythm & Blues and the latest music trend in Memphis being Gospel and Soul, Presley chose to record these songs at the Memphis-based American Sound Studio. His comeback was definitive when he scored a hit with the sublime In the Ghetto, which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
