Nach den Riesenerfolgen ihres Debutalbums "Mamani" (2002) das viele als den Klassiker der "deutschen Soul Musik" betrachten und dem englischsprachigen Nachfolger
"Born & Raised" (2006) erscheint mit "Maureen" nun Joy Denalanes drittes Album. Nachdem die deutschsprachige Platte schon 2011 direkt in die Top 10 der Deutschen Charts einstieg, erscheint "Maureen" jetzt als zusätzliches Schmankerl in Englischer Sprache, mit einem exklusiven Bonus Track "Steppin' Up" sowie ein einzigartiges Duett mit U.S. R&B Sänger Bilal.
"MAUREEN", benannt nach Joys zweitem Vornamen, ist vor allem ein sehr persönliches Werk, auf dem "Deutschlands Queen of Soul" ihre unterschiedlichen Facetten auslebt, ungeschminkt, reflektiert und nahbar erforscht sie die "zwei Seelen, die in ihrer Brust wohnen" und verschafft ihnen mit dieser fantastischen Songsammlung zwischen Soul, Funk und Hip Hop-Beats Ausdruck und Nachdruck.

Fleetwood Mac’s legendary album Tusk, originally released in Oct. 1979, went on to sell 4 million copies WW and was certified Gold in Germany and France, Platinum in the UK, Netherlands and New Zealand and 2X Platinum in the US. The band toured this album internationally across a 9 month period visiting; the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and Germany. Key tracks include “Sara”, “Tusk” and “Think About Me”.

The genius behind the album can be seen from the epic video for Tusk which was filmed with a full marching band (the University of Southern California's Trojan Marching Band), at Dodgers Stadium, Los Angeles on 4 June 1979.

Under-recognized trumpeter Johnny Coles recorded only one album for Blue Note but 1963’s Little Johnny C is a little-known treasure of the catalog featuring Coles at the helm of a dynamic sextet with tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, alto saxophonist Leo Wright, pianist Duke Pearson, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummers Walter Perkins & Pete La Roca.

This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

"You Can Win If You Want” is Modern Talking’s second single released from their debut album (1985). The single entered the top 10 in Germany. After three weeks it got into the top-5. Eventually, the single was certified gold in Germany and France.

The versatile singer, songwriter, pianist, musical arranger and civil rights activist Nina Simone was one of the most iconic of all jazz performers. Operating in a range of genres, from folk, blues and rhythm 'n' blues to pop, gospel and classical, Simone issued over 40 albums during a long and successful career, though bipolar disorder dramatically affected her later years. Born Eunice Kathleen Waymon in 1933, she was one of eight children in a poor black family. Coolpix's1963 release, Nina's Choice, was titled in reference to the fact that Simone chose the entire contents, drawing from a range of pop, folk, blues and show tunes, all interpreted and delivered in her uniquely expressive style.

Huge Chart hits from Jermaine Jackson, Kool & The Gang and The Gap Band close out Side A.

Side B finds its’ groove with two of the decades’ best from Alexander O’Neal with ‘Fake’ from his Jam & Lewis produced ‘Hearsay’ album and Aretha Franklin’s ‘Freeway Of Love’ from her superb album ‘Who’s Zoomin’ Who’, whilst the rest of this side features some of the slickest dance-floor fusions from Sheila E., Oliver Cheatham, The S.O.S. Band, and early 80s Britfunk from Freeez with the sublime ‘Southern Freeez’.

LP2 kicks off with a run of tracks that build on a foundation of funky R&B in conjunction with electronic beats and hooks – including ‘Let It All Blow’ from the Dazz Band, Sly Fox with the huge hit ‘Let’s Go All The Way’ and Rockwell with guest vocals from Michael Jackson on ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’. Funk pioneers Sly & Robbie & Shinehead scored their biggest crossover hit with ‘Boops (Here To Go)’, and UK Funk achieved major chart success for Level 42, and Shakatak.

The final side celebrates some of the decades’ new R&B superstars - Bobby Brown, and Jody Watley both achieved global success, Natalie Cole enjoyed a renaissance with ‘Pink Cadillac’ amongst other hits, and Keith Sweat, Pebbles, René & Angela and Vesta Williams are all featured with their signature floor-fillers.
