extended well beyond - into avant-garde rock and art
circles - and today his name is synonymous with artistic
freedom.
Originally released in Japan only, To Whom Who Keeps A
Record collects outtakes from Coleman's legendary Atlantic
period, sessions from Change of the Century and This
Is Our Music that are as emotionally transfixing as intellectually
rigorous. Featuring the classic quartets with Don
Cherry, Charlie Haden, Billy Higgins and Ed Blackwell,
this collection is striking for its brilliant compositions and
scorching solos. The song titles themselves lay out Coleman's
central philosophy: 'Music always brings goodness

The seismic rumbling of The Renderers goes beyond the
fiendish pastoralia of their music. Long-time Christchurch
residents, Brian and Maryrose Crook witnessed the earthquakes
crumble the city. That, and Maryrose's developing
career as a painter (she is self-taught, only starting in her
late thirties), inspired them to move to America and concentrate
on touring here. So, where do they move Obviously,
a rock-throw's distance from the San Andreas Fault,
to Joshua Tree.
Not surprising, given the tenacity of the Crooks. Through
endless band lineups and continual challenges, they have
maintained a focused sound and approach to their music.
A Renderers song creates its own space, one that threatens
dissemblance at every turn. With two of the most distinct
voices in New Zealand rock, they trade off vocal duties,
and both contribute toward burying their songs in layers of
swelling and swirling guitars.
For their new record, In the Sodium Light, The Renderers
take a step back from the furious chug of their last album, A
Rocket Into Nothing. Instead, they appear to be representing
the landscape of their new home. Songs creep out of
holes, seep and spread, permeating the room. The album
is a languid, calm-waters drift over the abyss in a glassbottomed
boat. Let the tide take you.

As part of Legacy Recording's acquisition of the Van Morrison catalogue, the first

Her last album, Glamúr í geimnum (Glamour in Space) was all about the magic of space. In a way the deep ocean is similar to space, if not the same. Both are dark and exotic. Men know more about the moon then the deep ocean so one never knows what's hiding there underneath. Nótt á hafsbotni is a heavier album then Glamúr í geimnum but the beats are more dancy and the melodies are influenced by Asian music, for example from India and Syria. Quotes

Eerie Wanda is the name given to the relentlessly memorable recorded results of an album delivered by Croatian/Dutch singer-songwriter Marina Tadic, w/ a little help from her friends, including the phenomenal rhythm section of JACCO GARDNER's band. Kane Strang's first proper album, Blue Cheese, picks up
on the rough disaffection of his earlier demo collection,
A Pebble and a Paper Crane, which he recorded in a
WWII bomb shelter in Germany. Back in his hometown of
Dunedin, New Zealand, Strang spent two curious months
alone, housesitting for his parents. Re-nested, yet still
isolated, Strang composed all of Blue Cheese over those
quiet days. Lead-off track 'The Web' channels pummeling
bass lines punctuated by a twinkling synth that calls upon
microscopic pop principalities of restlessness ('Yeah, I
met someone else / Without leaving my little house / No, I
haven't held her yet / I met her on the internet'). Its abrupt
ending parallels Strang's own disconnect.
'She's Appealing' weaves Day-Glo guitar motifs into
distant, detached '80s garage pop vocals. 'Never Kissed a
Blonde' is driven by a slapping delay on both vocals and
guitar. Strang's path toward a melody is always surprising,
and he never misses a hit-on-the-head-obvious-in-retrospect
memorable line.
Strang amassed a band and has started playing his distinct
psych-pop live. He will tour the United States in 2016.

The singer named as 'The Queen of Nu Cumbia', currently resides in two distnct places - the South of France and the pulsing heart of Argentna, Buenos Aires. Her eclectc music frst received atenton from major internatonal media such as The Guardian, BBC, Time Out and The Fader, which led to the
signing of her frst deal, with debut LP 'Viene de Mi' released in 2013.
'Magnetsmo' incorporates Argentnean folk traditons with cutng edge beats and punk attude that dominate the male orientated contemporary electro cumbia in Argentna. The album integrates her collaboratons and infuences that were compiled from the impressive 15 internatonal tours over the past two and a half years. The album was writen on the road and the material came to life on the road.
The album includes the same power producton team that were behind her breakout debut album - King Coya and Daniel Martn but with the additon of Oscar-winning engineer Anibal Kerpel who mixed the album from his studio in Los Angeles. The album features old friends such as Argentna's folk hero Gustavo Santaolalla and the hauntng violin behind electro-tango sensaton Bajafono Javier Casalla.
'Magnetsmo' infuses her old sound with new collaboratons that include Puerto Candaleria from Columbia, French based singer Sabina Sciubba from electro pop group Brazilian Girls and the African roots of Lindingo from Reunion Island.

It’s no minor thing to pack up and leave your home. Heavy psych mavens Mondo Drag relocated from Iowa to Oakland, California, after recording their self-titled second album (released on RidingEasy in 2015), and the move is central to understanding the progressive turn that their third record, The Occultation of Light, represents.
“Each of our albums has directional changes in songwriting and this third chapter is no exception,” says vocalist/keyboardist John Gamino. “Since moving to Oakland, we’ve been privy to the large amount of music that flows through a major cultural center. We’ve seen legendary acts like Magma, King Crimson, Goblin, and Yes. We are always trying to expand our sonic range and we definitely explore some new areas on the new album that we’ve not been to before.”
Most of The Occultation of Light was recorded live, tracked and mixed on analog tape by Phil Manley (Trans Am, The Fucking Champs) at El Studio in San Francisco. Mondo Drag had just come off the road after a month out with labelmates Electric Citizen and Slow Season, and their stage-honed, hard-won chemistry bleeds into every second of the record. Songs are warm, psychedelic and grooving, but have a poise born out of classic prog as well. And as much as their new home is a factor, that just wouldn’t be possible without the road time.
“Since moving to Oakland in Spring ’13, we’ve been developing and playing out the material that now comprises The Occultation of Light in San Francisco and Oakland,” Gamino explains.

Born out of a tumultuous history of varied lineups and geography since the release of their 2010 debut, New Rituals, Mondo Drag realize a defining moment with their third offering that builds on their past accomplishments even as it embarks boldly on new era for the band. Tour plans for 2016 are forthcoming.

Northern Norwegian stoner/doom band Monumentum release their debut 'The Killer Is Me' ON THE Blues For The Red Sun label.
Monumentum came to life in 2010 in a small city called Fauske, drawing from the members' shared love of all things slow and distorted. The small city above The Arctic Circle in the north of Norway has midnight sun during the summer, and bleak darkness the rest of the year; an ideal setting to create slow and sludgy music. Through the years, Norway has become a mainstay in delivering heavy and groundshaking music to the world, a tradition kept alive and well with the recording debut of the three-headed monster called Monumentum. The band draws their influence from such acts as Black Sabbath, Sleep, Kyuss, Weedeater, Melvins, Truckfighters and Motorhead, all together with innovative riffs and gut-wrenching vocals. Monumentum have shared stages with the likes of Horisont, Vidunder and Warp Riders and their debut contains some of their most focused and furious material!
The band is according to Metal Hammer Norway 'led by a massive hulk of a vocalist/guitarist' and plays 'brutal, sludgy, slow and rumbling riffs'. Utropia in Tromsø wrote that Monumentum 'occupies a nifty place between full-on Heavy Metalesque Doom and something groovier and dirtier (...)' and 'drawing everyone else into a decadent dance where sweat, beer and yes, even the occasional tear, mix into the tastiest of all cocktails: Rock and Fucking Roll'.
The Killer Is Me is the culmination of five years of hard labour. Recorded, engineered, mixed and mastered by Yngvar Mehus at LP Studio and GR Studio in April 2015.

The second self-titled album (first for Dirtnap Records) from hard-touring Ohio dark-punks Nervosas is an improvement on their awesome debut in every way. The fast songs are meaner and more aggressive, the slower songs are more textured and atmospheric. Impeccably recorded, Nervosas showcases truly impressive musicianship and songwriting inspiration to burn. The band goes way, way beyond the 'punk kids playing post-punk' thing going around these days, and fits in perfectly on the darker end of the Dirtnap spectrum, alongside such fine company as The Estranged, The Splits and Autistic Youth. Like a spore in a petri dish, Phylums began cultivating in the dank basements of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2011, when members of Goodnight Loving, Head On Electric and Holy Shit! united with the common goal of performing stripped-down, primitive rock 'n' roll. Their three-chord odes paid homage to The Sonics, Creedence, The Monks— any band with a simple message and no-frills attack.
Phylums took this primitive drive into Kyle Motor's studio in Madison, Wisconsin, in Summer 2014. It took the band under 24 hours to record their complete debut album on reel-to-reel eight-track. Surfy guitar leads and wandering fuzz combined with a rhythm section of driving toms and bass make up the core instrumentation, but a shades of organ, piano and even a vacuum cleaner add to the sonic palette. The songs, ranging from party rave-ups to off-kilter introspections, eschew the traditional boy / girl tropes of most three-chord songs and instead focus on alienation, the
afterlife, speech impediments and the frustrating beauty and monotony of modern life.

It's pretty safe to assume that no one doubted Radioactivity's
ability to follow up their 2013 Dirtnap debut with something
equally stunning. Frontman and chief songwriter Jeff Burke
(The Marked Men, The Reds, The Potential Johns) has certainly
done more than enough to earn that kind of expectation and pressure.
But Silent Kill, which finds Burke backed by Marked Men
compatriot Mark Ryan and two-thirds of Bad Sports (Daniel
Fried and Gregory Rutherford), does more than merely match
the virtues of its self-titled predecessor.
Radioactivity's first LP was rightly hailed as a sort of sequel
to The Marked Men's remarkable run through the first decade
of the millennium, and while Silent Kill bears the unmistakable
hallmarks of that band's tightly wound 'Denton sound,' Radioactivity
can now lay claim to a sonic territory of their very own.
Burke's distinctive hooks dig as deep as ever, but the scope of
his vision has expanded, and now that the Burke / Ryan / Fried /
Rutherford all-star team has had some time to cohere, Radioactivity
can do all sorts of damage in less than thirty minutes.
Although the twelve songs on Silent Kill abide by one strict
rule—providing garage punk pleasure at all costs—Radioactivity
bends that mandate in myriad ways. Breathless ragers like
'Battered' and 'No Alarm' are as fleet and raw as anything in
the combined canon of Radioactivity's members, while midtempo
heartbreakers 'Way Out,' 'Connection' and 'Where I
Come From' find Burke and company opening up their sound
to let in a little tenderness. And then there are songs like 'Not
Here' or 'With You,' which enact perfect unions of melody
and kinetic energy. Admirers of Burke's legacy will be not only
satisfied, but pleasantly surprised.

Filled with a passion for everything evil, Reptile Master from Tromsø/ northern Norway is on a mission to spread the gospel of doom. With strong roots in both traditional heavy metal, post-metal and sludge, they create a new sound composed of the outermost extremes found in aggression and sorrow. Reptile Master, in cooperation with the label Blues For The Red Sun from Tromsø/Norway, now present their first full length album, which has recently been recorded and is expected to be released in October. The result is far from becoming a commercial radio hit. This is probably one of the most heavy and doomy records ever to be released from the dark north!

Central California quartet Slow Season have a revamped version of their 2012 self-titled debut album to be released on RidingEasy Records.

The band's sound effortlessly nods to greats of the 60s-70s like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, et al, without sounding like a caricature. Rather, as one can immediately hear, this is hypnotic, heavy, and howling rock 'n' roll that defies both musical and temporal categorization.

The Visalia, CA band -- Daniel Rice (vocals, guitar), David Kent (guitar), Hayden Doyel (bass), and Cody Tarbell (drums) -- scale new heights, while recognising where it all began. Having recorded both of their albums live on reel-to-reel at Tarbell's home studio, the band eschews the digital trappings of music today to give their analog sound its crackling, kinetic energy.

Travelling is a keyboard based trio that probably represents best what the mythical Futura label's RED series was about; jazz, rock and experimental inquisitiveness. Triode was a french psych prog band from the early 70's. Their sole album 'On N'a Pas Fini D'avoir Tout Vu' released in 1971 combines the fascinating flute playing of Michel Edelin, the psychedelic guitar sound of Pierre Cherez (also of Ys & Bernard Szajner companion) and the groovy rhythm section of Didier Hauck & Pierre-Yves Sorin.
