Seven Turns is the ninth studio album by the Allman Brothers Band, released in 1990. Their first studio album since Brothers of the Road in 1981, it was well-received, and peaked at #53. Hit singles were 'Good Clean Fun' (#1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks); 'Seven Turns' (#12) and 'It Ain't Over Yet' (#26).

This is the Allman Brothers Band's comeback album, and their best Blues-based outing since Idlewild South that restored a lot of their reputation. With Tom Dowd running the session, and the group free to make the music they wanted to, they ended up producing this bold, rock-hard album, made up mostly of songs by Dickey Betts (with contributions by new keyboardman Johnny Neel and lead guitarist Warren Haynes), almost every one of them a winner.

Apart from the rippling opening number, 'Good Clean Fun,' which he co-authored, Gregg Allman's contribution is limited to singing and the organ, but the band seem more confident than ever, ripping through numbers like 'Low Down Dirty Mean,' 'Shine It On,' and 'Let Me Ride' like they were inventing blues-rock here, and the Ornette Coleman-inspired 'True Gravity' is their best instrumental since 'Jessica.'

Stunningly beautiful, poignant music from Bila¯d al-Sha¯m — 'the countries of Damascus', known nowadays as Syria, Lebanon and Palestine — including performances from the very first recording sessions in the region. The legendary, moody Beirut singer Bu¯lus Sulba¯n is here — some historians have him singing before Egypt's Pasha Ibra¯hi¯m Ba¯sha¯ during his military campaign in Syria, in 1841 — and Hasi¯ba Moshe¯h, Jewish 'nightingale of the Damascene gardens'. Thurayya¯ Qaddu¯ra from Jerusalem; Yu¯suf Ta¯j, a folk singer from Mount-Lebanon; Farjalla¯h Baida¯, cousin to the founders of Baidaphon Records... Musical directors like the lutist Qa¯sim Abu¯ Jami¯l al-Durzi¯ and the violinist Antu¯n al-Shawwa¯ (followed by his son Sa¯mi¯); such virtuosi as the qanun-players Nakhleh Ilya¯s al-Matarji¯ and Ya'qu¯b Ghaza¯la, and lutist Sali¯m 'Awad. Even at the time, notwithstanding such brilliance, public music-making was frowned upon as morally demeaning, especially for women. Musical venues were generally dodgy. Sulba¯n once cut short a wedding performance for the Beiruti posh, after just one song, he was so disgusted with his audience. 'If I had to tell you about the catcalls,' one commentator wrote about the musical theatre of the time, 'the stomping of feet, the sound of sticks hitting the ground, the noise of the water-pipes, the teeth cracking watermelon seeds and pistachio nuts, the screams of the waiters, and the clinking of arak glasses on the tables, I would need to go on and on and on...'

Gone with the flow - after a little break the German musicians Julius Steinhoff and Abdeslam Hammouda revived their musical adventures and left all electricity untouched this time. For their new acoustic project the duo has chosen the alias Tonight Will Be Fine - a name that is familiar to those who followed their work in the past years. As Steinhoff & Hammouda they used the name for their first 12" on Smallville Records, the worldwide acclaimed house and beyond label and record store that Steinhoff co-runs. Now they reheated the phrase and chose it as the alias for a bittersweet acoustic singer/songwriter project. Their wonderful, captivating new musical venture came into life due to happenstance and old ferventness. After their trips into house music the duo parted geographically. Hammouda moved away from Hamburg while Steinhoff strengthened his label Smallville, built up a global DJ career and produced acclaimed house records on diverse labels - solo and with his buddy Dionne as Smallpeople. In all the time Steinhoff and Hammouda never stayed out of touch, bound together through deep friendship.

At some point they met again for musical missions and started to record music that had nothing in common with their prior work. Steinhoff re-activated his self-taught guitar abilities and entered the studio of his friend Lawrence in the back of the Smallville record store to capture some steeldrums and vibraphone sounds. Hammouda brought more instruments like a banjo, a violine and tablas and they just started to record sketches and songs. Hammouda's musical backround leads to a widespread range of influences while growing up, before he got into producing hip hop and electronic music. For Steinhoff, the transformation from an electronic music producer into a singer/songwriter wasn't that new too, as his first musical steps have been routed in band music. Until his late teenage years, when he discovered house and techno, he played drums in a local indie group in Freiburg and for Tonight Will Be Fine he now also freed his old drum kit from cellar dust.

After the duo felt that their musical communication elevates into something more profound then a session thing, they provided themselves with additional instruments like new guitars, claves, an accordion, a piano and more. Initially the songs were very rough and sketchy. Musical ideas that did not have a real song structure. Then we started to arrange the tracks and added our voices and lyrics.' both reveal. Their charming singing covers almost the whole album with a characteristic sense of deep winking melancholy. Their lyrics are exercising the possibilities of words and are inspired by life, the world and all the those questions a human can ask in his time on earth. At some point both started to show their new songs to some friends and they liked it and encouraged the duo to move on. Somehow one of the tracks landed in Toshiya Kawasaki's mailbox. He instantly fell in love with it and asked if they would like to do an album for Mule Musiq. They did what was asked and after some reformatting and reinventing Tonight Will Be Fine originated 13 songs full of sweeping acoustic guitars, airy rhythms, piano melodies, gloomy accordion emotions, touching voices and a bunch of other exotic instruments, done without the help of electronics. They all form Elephant Island' - an incredibly inspirational place where impressionistic lyrics dance gently with kinetic acoustic music that comes out of plain jamming fun. The melange of a structured song base and free improvisation injects all songs a loose feeling. And shows two handsome fellas carving out their own musical utopia. It is a warming one, full of hope and musical freedom powered by an unabashed instrumental playfulness.

einschlägigen Digitalcharts sowie im Streaming in Höchstgeschwindigkeit in die deutschen Top 15. Die
Hitsingle erscheint nun auch als physische 2-Track-CD inklusive Club Mix.

Mit seinen Beiträgen zu Mark Turners Album Lathe of Heaven hat Avishai Cohen 2014 viele Hörer beeindruckt. Nun legt der in Tel Aviv geborene Trompeter sein ECM-Debüt als Leader vor - mit impressionistischen Kompositionen für Jazzquartett, das in einigen Stücken um Tenorsaxophon erweitert wird. Into The Silence ist dem Gedenken an Avishais Vater David gewidmet und reflektiert die letzten Tage in dessen Leben. Cohens gedämpfte Trompete gibt der Musik die emotionale Prägung. Der israelische Pianist Yonathan Avishai leuchtet Cohens Kompositionen mit bluesigen Phrasierungen aus. Das sensible Zusammenspiel Cohens mit Schlagzeuger Nasheet Waits erinnert an die Glanzzeiten von Miles Davis mit Tony Williams und Don Cherry mit Billy Higgins. Doch diese Musik, auch wenn sie die Quellen ihrer Inspiration durchscheinen lässt, ist ganz und gar heutig.
Bassist Eric Revis, Jahrzehnte lang ein Eckpfeiler von Branford
Marsalis' Quartett, leistet elegante Unterstützung. Und Saxophonist Bill McHenry, ein subtil agierender Modernist, der mit Paul Motian und Andrew Cyrille gearbeitet hat, folgt gefühlvoll Cohens Linien. Into The Silence wurde im Juli 2015 in Südfrankreich von Manfred Eicher produziert.

Im Januar 2016 erscheint ein beeindruckendes, neunteiliges Vinyl-Boxset und vereint alle Soloalben, die Eric Clapton während seiner Zeit bei Polydor/RSO zwischen 1970 - 1980 veröffentlicht hat. When Greg Caz and Deano Sounds teamed up to create The Brasileiro Treasure Box Of Funk & Soul they created a collection of vintage Brazilian music that stretches across the scope of funk, soul, and psychedelic.

Co-compiler and Brazilian music aficionado, Greg Caz says: Without necessarily having a central theme other than funky nuggets from the first half of the 70s, we believe this compilation displays its own particular sense of logic, and that these songs ultimately all sound fantastic together. Shahnour Varinag Aznavourian, besser bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Charles Aznavour, ist ein
armenisch-französischer Chansonnier, Liedtexter, Komponist und Filmschauspieler. Er wurde am 22. Mai
1924 geboren und ist bis heute künstlerisch aktiv. Als Schauspieler wirkte Aznavour in über 70 Filmen mit,
unter anderem 1979 in der Oscar-prämierten Verfilmung "Die Blechtrommel" von Volker Schlöndorff. Seit
einem halben Jahrhundert gehört der nur 1,60 Meter kleine Aznavour mit seiner einzigartigen Tenorstimme
zu den großen Persönlichkeiten des französischen Chansons. Nicht umsonst hat ihn der Musikkritiker
Stephen Holden zur "französischen Pop-Gottheit" gekürt, während ihn der CNN zum "Jahrhundert-

Der aus Bristol stammende und derzeit in Bern lebende Solokünstler Joe Volk war einer der ersten Musiker,
der bei Geoff Barrows (Portishead) Label Invada unter Vertrag genommen wurde. Einem größeren Publikum
ist er jedoch als Sänger, Gitarrist und (Co)-Songschreiber von Crippled Black Phoenix bekannt, wo er
zwischen 2006 und 2013 neben Justin Greaves einziges permanentes Mitglied war. Daneben trat Joe Volk
immer wieder als Songwriter für Soundtracks, Kurzfilme und Dokumentationen in Erscheinung, unter
anderem für die Oscar-nominierte Dokumentation "Exit Through The Gift Shop" über den britischen Street-Art-
Künstler Banksy. Mit "Happenings And Killings" auf Glitterhouse erscheint Volks erstes Soloalbum seit
seinem Abschied von Crippled Black Phoenix. Dafür arbeitete er eng mit den Emmy-nominierten Songwritern
und Produzenten Ben Salisbury und Geoff Barrow zusammen. Gemischt wurde das Album von Volk selbst,
allerdings in Zusammenarbeit mit Jim Barr (Portishead, Get The Blessing) und dem Musiker und Künstler
Leafcutter John. Als Gastmusiker treten Billy Fuller, Adrian Utley, Mark Ophidian, Guy Metcalfe und Luke
Harney in Erscheinung. Die Bandbreite des Albums reicht von akustischen Songs, die von analogen
elektronischen Elementen unterstützt werden, bis zu Stücken, die von Volks typischen Gesangsharmonien
und der ausgeklügelten Gitarrenarbeit geprägt sind.

Es ist ja nicht so, als wäre die Formation Leland Sundries erst seit gestern aktiv. Tatsächlich ist die New
Yorker Band schon seit 2010 am Musizieren. Nur hat man das hierzulande noch nicht mitgeschnitten und
deshalb sind auch die EPs "The Foundry" und "The Apothecary" nur ausgewiesenen Spezialisten bekannt.
Das sollte sich mit "Music For Outcasts", dem Debütalbum für den europäischen Markt, nachhaltig ändern.
Mit seiner dynamischen Mischung aus Garage, Indie-Rock und Americana bieten sich Vergleiche zu Lou
Reed, Jack Oblivian und Ezra Furman geradezu an. Dabei steht Leland Sundries durch und durch in der
Rock'n'Roll-Tradition von New York. Schließt man die Augen und schaltet die Phantasie ein, führt "Music For
Outcasts" vom Fillmore East des Jahres 1968 und Max's Kansas City von 1969 über das 1977er-CBGB und
das Coney Island High von 1992 bis zum Brownies in 2002 und dem Death By Audio von 2008. Willkommen
in der Gegenwart des Rock.

Ob mit den Staples Singers oder als Solokünstlerin, von Spirituals, Gospel und Blues über die Protestsongs
der Bürgerrechtsbewegung bis zu Funk, Soul und R'n'B hat Mavis Staples die afroamerikanische Musik der
letzten 50 Jahre geprägt wie kaum eine andere Sängerin neben ihr. Obwohl die 1939 in Chicago geborene
Grammy-Preisträgerin (2013) mittlerweile seit fünf Jahrzehnten im Geschäft ist, wird sie nicht müde, neue
Alben einzuspielen. Ganz im Gegenteil: "Livin' On A High Note" wirkt ungemein frisch und dynamisch. Sie
selbst wird sogar nicht müde zu behaupten, "Livin' On A High Note" sei die Krönung ihrer Karriere. Das
Album enthält zwölf Originalstücke, die von einigen der bedeutendsten Songwriter/innen unserer Tage
exklusiv für Mavis Staples geschrieben wurden, darunter M. Ward, Ben Harper, Valerie June, Neko Case,
Nick Cave, John Baptiste, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Aloe Blacc, Benjamin Booker und Son Little. Für die
Produktion verantwortlich ist M. Ward. Beseelt!

The Cramps quickly became one of America's finest subculture manifestations, bred from the madness of 50s and 60s b-movie trash at the turn of punk, Lux Interior and his motley crew of proto-gothic punks shred the walls of Keystone's Palo Alto with a toxic stew of sexed up rock 'n' roll. They were an exotic cabaret of b-movie histrionics and debonair, pursuing lurid and sexual gratification. Lux Interior personified, and externalized what lurked behind the snarl of every rockabilly hero and even in death, wears it well. In Elvis' strut, in James Dean's wince, somewhere in the back of Little Richard's throat was the Cramps... drooling all over your face and walking away with your soul.

Interference proudly presents the entire KFAT-FM broadcast of this legendary early performance by The Cramps live at Keystone's Palo Alto from February 1979. Captured in their grizzly, diabolical prime and before the release of their debut Songs The Lord Taught Us. Professionally re-mastered with background liners and superb rare archival photos.

The Dictators spat the lyrical disrespect and echoed the smart lipstick wit that David Johansen and the NY Dolls had employed on their home turf. On the surface, here was a similar bunch of sloppy goofballs intent on nothing much apart from avoiding the mundane drivel of the daily grind and poking fun. From 1973 onwards, the band were a swaggering bunch of misfits who'd absorbed the American dream and all the trash that goes with it, throwing it all back up in your face. They were the Dolls, the MC5 and The Stooges, they were anything you wanted them to be, but most importantly, they were a punk band's punk band, and they were The Dictators!

4 years in the making,in partnership with Teranga beat the current leading label for Senegalese music, Analog Africa proudly offer an insight into the musical adventures that were taking place in the major Senegalese cities during the 60s and 70s. This compilation, reflects the unique fusions of Funk, Mbalax, Cuban Son and Mandigue guitar sounds that transformed Dakar into West Africa´s most vibrant city.

Thanks to its history of outside influences, Senegal - the western point of Africa - had become a musical melting pot. Cuban and American sailors had brought Son Montuno from Cuba, Jazz from New Orleans and American soul tunes: sounds that were swiftly embraced and adopted by urban dance bands and intuitively merged with local music styles.

One band in particular excelled at this fusion. 1960 marks the formation of Star Band de Dakar, a milestone that left an indelible imprint on Dakar's musical landscape. Indeed, the whole country was soon grooving to their intoxicating mixture of Afro Cuban rhythms and Wolof-language lyrics.

The 1970s brought a new generation of stellar bands; Le Sahel, Orchestre Laye Thiam, Number One de Dakar, Orchestra Baobab, Dieuf Dieul de Thies and Xalam1 who fused traditional Senegalese percussion instruments such Sabra, Tama and Bougarabou with organs and keyboards, giving birth to new hybrids. Merging the folkloric and the experimental, these sounds, embraced by the youth, took centre stage and gave the previously dominant Cuban music a run for its money.

The comprehensive booklet that comes with the Double LP - 12 pages LP size - is a precious document attesting to the decades of transformation that led to modern Senegalese music. Featuring biographies of music producers and a legendary record cover designer, as well as the life stories of all the groups represented here, the booklet also includes a fantastic selection of photos that have never seen before.

Irreverent and anarchic, the Bonzo Dog Band are one of Britain's best-loved 1960s groups. But their eccentric brand of musical humour was not without precedent: they drew much inspiration from so called 'novelty foxtrot' records of the 1930s, which they lovingly learnt from 78 rpm discs. This compilation presents the original recordings of all such songs that they recorded and performed live. Painstakingly remastered, it comes with detailed notes, rare images, and an introduction from the great 'Legs' Larry Smith.

"The Ansonia Years" gathers the best recordings made by Rafael Cortijo, one of the major Puerto Rican figures of Latin music, for Ansonia Records during 1969 and 1971.
Taken from the albums "Noche de temporal", "Ritmos y cantos callejeros" and "Volumen 2", he is accompanied by other key artists such as Kako, Chivirico, Ismael Rivera and Javier Vazquez took Afro-Puerto Rican traditions to the most prestigious Latin ballrooms of the period, making him the architect of an Afro-Caribbean and Puerto Rican salsa style, coming from the street corner but different from the New York tradition. He was a cultural hero who brought a host of dazzling nuances to his three recordings on the Ansonia label. Most tracks reissued for the first time.
