Here we go for a beautiful split album by two Montreal / Canada based acts with a close connection as it seems and a common love for psychedelic sounds and space rock despite their different turns on the same thing. It is no miracle that you find UUBBUURRUU front man Joey Napoleon being in both acts. While UUBBUURRUU have chosen a rather laid back and melodic pop psyche route just with slightly more edgy guitars he kicks off into a fuzzed out acid punk inferno with EL NAPOLEON. Dark and gloomy garage beat with dirty riffs and even dirtier and simmering hot melodies is the lowest common dominator here and be sure it is you as the listener who gets dominated. This will certainly appeal to all those who still live in the yesteryear some 46 years ago when beat became rock and songs became twisted, uncontrollable freak outs due to hordes of proto punks going nuts on topics like the ongoing Vietnam War or sexual liberation. UUBBUURRUU may have the more freaked out name though. Their music consists of straight compositions with very striking melodies that may sound familiar to one somehow but really do their work to drag the listener onto a colorful trip. EL NAPOLEON on the other hand work with the same kind of firing harmonies and vocal lines but give them an extra buzz with their guitar eruptions that go further than your average sixties garage rock (which I love) and reach spheres of rage only MC 5 or THE STOOGES would have dared to touch. Eastern flavored guitar leads enhance the psychedelic mood to its maximum. All this is certainly very well played but it might not appeal to fans of clean digital sounds as the earthy and often dirty production is the icing on the cake and makes both acts come as vibrant as music can and should be. I would not mind making love to a sweet soul sister while cranking up this gem so it is really that hot and groovy. Fans of BABY WOODROSE, SPIDS NÖGENHAT, early MONSTER MAGNET and oldies like THE SEEDS, THE THIRD BARDO and tons of English pop psyche acts like TOMORROW or APPLE will enjoy this split album. Cheers to Canada, well done, boyzzz!!!!!

Contact Field Orchestra is produced by Damon Aaron. In 2008 he came across a box of 7" tapes at an estate sale in Altadena that turned out to be field recordings of a turn-of-the century orchestra of ex-miners; recorded almost entirely with hand-made instruments and contact microphones. This became the source material for this collection of releases with HIT+RUN.
This EP is the fourth release (including a tape release ) from Contact Field Orchestra with HIT+RUN. CFO has also appeared on Giles Peterson's seminal compilation series "Brownswood Bubblers" (Volume 10), and contributed to Ninja Tune's popular "Solid Steel" mix. Chris Hooson of Dakota Suite asked Emanuele Errante to work with him on a project composed for the death of his sister-in-law. Chris had composed a series of themes around the loss of his sister-in-law and in Emanuele found a partner to create the sounds which would evoke loss, the temporary nature of life and the stillness to get through. The powerful result 'The North Green Down' was originally released on Lidar in 2012 as a limited CD which is long since sold out. Now Karaoke Kalk makes this heartfelt and poignant album available again and for the first time ever on vinyl, including one additional previously unreleased track.

Restaurierung der Aufnahmen vorgenommen und einfach die unbearbeitete Vinyl-Aufnahme mit viel
Knistern auf CD gepresst. Komplett restauriert und als offiziellen Release für den gesamten Handel
gab es das Album noch nie. Ursprünglich erschien das Album mit der Interpretenangabe - 1.
Allgemeine Verunsicherung & Wilfried', da Sänger Wilfried Scheutz als einziges Bandmitglied als
Solokünstler über einen Plattenvertrag bei der EMI verfügte und er seine Plattenfirma überreden
konnte, das Album als sein Solowerk zu veröffentlichen. Da das Album nach der ersten
Veröffentlichung nicht mehr neu aufgelegt wurde, hat es mittlerweile aufgrund des späteren
kommerziellen Erfolgs der EAV einen hohen Sammlerwert. Die LP enthält zudem einen originalen
Nachdruck des Comics aus der Erstauflage!

Remember einen Hit. Der Song landete auf #1 der australischen Charts und wurde zur #1 der meist
gesuchten Songs der Musik App ‚Shazam'. Anfang September veröffentlichte er seine Debüt-EP -
- Jarryd James EP . Neben dem Hit - Do You Remember ist auf der Jarryd James EP auch seine nun
zweite Single - Give Me Something zu hören. Der 30-jährige selbst sagt über seine Musik: - Nothing
makes me happier than when I'm singing, opening my eyes and seeing people smiling. If I can evoke
an emotion in someone, I'm stoked. That's all that matters." Im Februar 2015 spielte er als Support für
das australische Geschwisterduo Angus & Julia Stone auf ihrer Australien Tour. Seine erste Headline
Tour im April mit Konzerten in Melbourne, Sydney und Brisbane war innerhalb weniger Stunden
ausverkauft. Vor kurzem spielte Jarryd 4 Konzerte in Deutschland und beim Reeperbahn Festival 2015
in Hamburg. Auf sein von Fans und Liebhabern heiß erwartetes Album, sind unter anderem die

Back To The Future (Deutscher Originaltitel: Zurück in die Zukunft) ist
eine Science-Fiction-Filmkomödie des Regisseurs Robert Zemeckis, die am 3. Oktober 1985 in die
deutschen Kinos kam. Das Drehbuch schrieben Robert Zemeckis und Bob Gale. Der Film stellt den
ersten Teil der Zurück-in-die-Zukunft-Trilogie dar. Der zweite Teil Zurück in die Zukunft II erschien
1989, der dritte Teil Zurück in die Zukunft III wurde 1990 veröffentlicht. Die Filmmusik wurde von Alan
Silvestri komponiert. Das Orchester bestand aus 98 Personen, 1985 stellte dies das größte Orchester
dar, welches Universal Pictures je für einen Film zusammengestellt hat.(3) Das im Jahre 1985
erschienene Soundtrack-Album enthält 10 Titel. Darunter Lieder der Künstler Eric Clapton, Etta
James, Lindsey Buckingham sowie zwei Lieder, Power of Love und Back in Time, des
US-amerikanischen Popmusikers Huey Lewis. Dieser übernahm auch die Rolle des Jury-Mitglieds,
das zu Beginn des Films Martys Band, die ihre eigene Fassung des Liedes Power of Love spielen,
aufgrund ihrer Lautstärke abweist. The Power of Love wurde für einen Oscar nominiert und erreichte
Platz 1 der Billboard Hot 100. Nun gibt es diesen Soundtrack als PICTURE Vinyl, wenngleich nicht
termingerecht, so ist er doch ein MUST HAVE für jeden Film und Vinyl Fan.

Goodnight Rico is a tribute to the eminent Jamaican trombonist Rico Rodriguez who passed away on September 2015. Featuring a beautiful, plaintive horns melody and one drop bounce that characterised many of Rico's seminal recordings. Soothsayers horns have channelled their treasured memories of performing onstage with Rico into this composition. The track features great solo trombone by Harry Brown as well as Idris Rahman on Tenor Saxophone and Robin Hopcraft's trumpet all deftly enhanced by a fine studio performance from Soothsayers' band. Mixing is in the experienced hands of Nick Manasseh who subtly frees the cut's diverse sonic layers and taking the flipside to the outer reaches of the "dub -o -sphere".

Italian Afro-Futurist beatmaker DJ Khalab & Malian master musician & griot Baba Sissoko meld electronic music to traditional African sounds; the repetitive & hypnotic structure of Malian music gets re-translated by Khalab to great effect.

Dunkle Nächte in Polen - David Lynch kollaboriert mit dem polnischen Konzertpianisten Marek Zebrowski - nun als Doppel-Vinyl (180g) mit Download-Code erhältlich. Beim Dreh zum Spielfilm "Inland Empire" lernten sie sich kennen. Marek Zebrowski war als Übersetzer am Set tätig. Dort entdeckten sie in Gesprächen ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft für experimentelle Musik. Bald schon war die Idee geboren, sich auch musikalisch zu betätigen. Lynch lud Zebrowski nach LA ein, und aus den dort aufgenommen Sessions entstand "Polish Night Music". "We don't know what will happen", erklärt David Lynch, "somewhere in this not knowing exists the experience of a Polish night, and this album is it soundtrack". Die Veröffentlichung ist nur als Doppel-LP und Download erhältlich. Die CD-Version des Albums erschien im Jahr 2007 ursprünglich auf dem Label DLMC ( David Lynch Music Company).

Atmospheric, smokey, urbane and sophisticated "Citta Notte" is a seamless and stunningly timeless jewel in the expanding cosmology of rediscovering Library/Production music.

Haunting, profound and hypnotic, one of the rarest Library LPs is no doubt also one of the most beautiful and rewarding.

Tala AM (or Tala Andre Marie to give him his full and proper name) was born in Bandjoun in Cameroun in 1950. Talas life initially wasn't easy, he becomes blind at an early age and has lost both his mother and father by the age of 12. He then went on to make his first guitar by hand and form his first band "The Rock Boys" by the age of 17. Shortly after he meets the powerhouse of Camerounian music at the time Manu Dibango, a pivotal moment. With help, he re-locates to Paris and signs a contract with Fiesta Records. The first fruit of those labours is his debut album "Hot Koki".

The lead track (and highlight of this compilation) is "Hot Koki" it is a powerhouse of funk guitar, soul and infectious afro rhythms. Fast forward to 1974 and the famous "Rumble In The Jungle" fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. The story goes a little something like this... At an accompanying musical event we find James Brown and Tala AM. JB Hears Hot Koki and creates a remarkably similar sounding track "The Hustle" (check it out side by side if you have the time).

Fast forward another 40 years. Time to take a look back on the funkier moments of Tala. This is not a "best of" Tala, that has already been done. Want to get into Tala's famous Tchamassi sound or do some "bend skin" beats... well check out the other compilations. Here at Africa Seven (and in this case) we are headed for destination funk. The musical topic inevitably leads us to the 70's and we borrow our super slick source material mainly from the albums Tala made for Fiesta Records from 1973 to 1978.

We open up the bombastic brass, swinging basslines and all out groove of Hot Koki (well after a little intro ditty gem). Then its on to the one of the highlights of "Arabia" album "Black Gold". This track swoons groove. Layers of picked and choppy guitar and on point drumming. "Sugar Lump" is next which sticks to the formula of the previous track but adds in catchy vocals.

Mining into the cave of delights that is the 1978 "Black Woman" album we then follow up with the driving afro beat grooves and stabby brass of "Gotam" and the boogie flowing grooves of "Black Woman" and the frenetic and driving grooves of "Ma Ka La". We round things off with the stabby clavi-funk of "Nom Te Ma" and the ultimate groovy funk-riff closer (and ear worm) Tcham Tcham.

So there you some slices of pure funk from a master. Tala's role of awards and achievements is long and impressive (check his Wikipedia), Knight of Valour of Cameroun, SACEM awards and his opening of a music school in Douala... However.. we feel these musical masterpieces are right up there with his finest achievements.. A true man of music.

Studio One Showcase brings together a new fine selection of classic tracks from Horace Andy, Freddy McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Lone Ranger, Sugar Minott, The Heptones, Wailing Souls and other seminal reggae artists all recorded at Studio One in the 1970s.
 
By the start of the 1970s, Clement Dodd's Studio One record label was at a crossroads. The previous two decades had given the producer and record label more success than most aspired to in a lifetime. From the mid-1950s on, the Downbeat Soundsystem had conquered all opponents - from Duke Reid to Prince Buster - and shaped and led the musical landscape of the dancehall. In the 1960s, the establishment of Studio One Records at 13 Brentford Road in Kingston, Jamaica, had led to a Ford Motors-esque production line of hits that similarly defined reggae music.
 
But the 1970s was to prove Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd's most challenging and yet ultimately the most creative decade of all. Like the most zealous and resourceful of pioneers, Studio One was about to embark on a stunning era of reinvention, adaptation, stripping down and versioning, each step of which marked new musical developments in reggae music - roots reggae, deejay, dancehall, rub a dub and more.
 
This album presents an overview of this exciting and ground-breaking decade of the 1970s at Studio One, during an era where, despite challenges from new producers, political turmoil, and almost constant musical and technological innovations in reggae, Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd was able to maintain his position as the pioneering leader in reggae music, and to maintain Studio One is the number one sound in reggae music. Originally from the island of Boa Vista, Abel Lima was part of a large wave of Cape Verdean migration to Europe in the late 60s - fleeing the political turmoil that accompanied the end of Portuguese colonial rule. Settling in Paris, he recorded several albums with 'Les Sofas' a multinational group featuring musicians from France, Senegal, Cameroon, Angola and Guadeloupe.

Arranged by Camerounian star Eko Roosevelt Louis, Corre Riba Corre Baxo (what goes up must come down) is taken from the 1977 album 'Cantam nos Bida' and combines a rock-solid bassline with a hypnotic guitar riff.

Nos Maos - arranged by Guadeloupean pianist Roland Louis - has more of a Caribbean feel, bringing elements of Cadence in to the mix. The politically-charged lyrics - half in French and half in Portuguese - deal with European complicity in economic and social problems in the developing world

Combining the Morna and Coladera styles of Cape Verde with Jazz, Cadence, disco and West African styles, Abel Lima's output reflected the rich mixture of musical styles and cultures that was (and still is) present in Paris. Both tracks are dancefloor classics.

Robert Bryson Hall II - eine Show für Pitbull, EPMD, Method Man, Redman and Ludacris in seiner
Heimat Maryland. Aufgrund des großen Einflusses, den Frank Sinatra schon früh auf den 25-jährigen
Rapper hatte, ist Logic auch unter dem Namen Young Sinatra bekannt und so ist er Teil der Gruppe
RattPack (für - Real All The Time ), eine Anspielung auf das Original Rat Pack.

This is PALBMA's (featuring Mark from Brown Brogues) first release and showcases the bands glam garage rock sound. They have already been featured on BBC 6 Marc Riley's show as well as live in session. We previously featured two songs of theirs on Vegetarian Meat Vol 2.

On the flip side we have Druggy Pizza (featuring members of Dusty Mush) and their EP Chili Cheese Crust. The EP has never had the chance to see wax and we wanted to give it that honour. Songs about pizza punched out as raw fuzzy garage rock drenched in reverb. We also featured two songs on Vegetarian Meat Vol 2.

Nach zwei Jahren intensivstem Touren haben die Fünf auf ihrem neuen Album den Editors Sound abermals erweitert, indem sie sich vom dynamischen Rock von "The Weight Of Your Love" (Platz 4 der Media Control Albumcharts) entfernen und gewissermaßen eine Rückkehr zu einem von elektronischer Musik beeinflussten Schaffensprozess vollziehen. Damit spannen sie einen Bogen von ihrem Debütalbum hin zu ihrem dritten Album "In This Light And On This Evening", mit dem sie in Großbritannien auf Platz 1 landeten.

"In Dream" ist ein Album geworden, das künstlerische Interpretationen auch außerhalb des Bandgefüges erlaubt. So ist es das erste Editors Album, auf dem es Duette zu hören gibt (Rachel Goswell von Slowdive leiht den Tracks "Ocean Of Night", "The Law" und "At All Cost" ihre Stimme). Zudem konnte Alan Moulder die Songs nach den Aufnahmen ohne Einflussnahme der Band abmischen, während Rahi Rezvani völlig freie Hand bei den Fotos und Videos hatte, die das Album und die dazugehörigen Singles begleiten. Laut Tom Smith ein klares und deutliches Statement, getragen vom Glauben, dass Musik beides sein kann - poppig und experimentell.

Perhaps fitting for a band conceived in a monastery in Upper Vienna, Hearts Hearts create beautiful, elegiac songs which live at the intersection of classical and contemporary electronic and pop music. Anchored by Österle's voice and as likely to evoke Sigur Ros as Flying Lotus, their debut album Young is an album about experimentation and observation - literate, sophisticated, but vulnerable and warm.

The songs on Young resemble miniature symphonies in their composition and dynamic scope, where surprising choices create a sense of tension and provocation. Tension that is so evident in the icy, melancholy 'AAA' which pairs skittery, propulsive odd-time signature beats with long, legato cello lines to form a sweeping, moving aural landscape, or the racing machine heart of the title track 'Young' with its mechanical beats straining against Österle's yearning vocals. And the R&B-influenced 'I Am In' which shows the band in a moment of reflection, sensual and human.

And this sense of tension and release, is reflected in the lyrics and, indeed, the concept for the album as a whole. «Young deals with the familiar patterns we find ourselves in life, the constrictions that come with that, and most of all, the attempt of breaking through, to temporarily stop going through the motions.» says David Österle, lead singer and writer. «Our lives are so over-defined and over-structured (that) we are measuring and weighing and then cutting off what's undefined. And in reaction to all this, we are seeking spaces of temporary escape.»

Coming a generation after their spiritual forebearers like The Notwist and Radiohead, Hearts Hearts do not so much repeat or pay homage to these artists, but instead build upon them and ask how much has changed in the decade since there and then. Both in terms of the increasingly ritualized and structured world in which most of the West finds itself, and our growing preoccupation and need to escape - and how this shapes the lyrical focus of Young, but also in the evolution of pop music since - the rise and influence of contemporary R&B, electronic dance music, and more recently minimalist classical.

What sets Hearts Hearts apart today is their unadulterated sincerity and vision in the intent and sound - it pulls no punches and the quartet has poured its heart (no pun intended) into ten beautiful, fully realized songs. Young is the sound of a band evolving, but also one that has found something to say.
