Dunkirk - OST

30.10.2017

Dunkirk is a 2017 English-language war film written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, Memento, Insomnia, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception). The score is composed by multiple award winner Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, Batman V Superman, The Crown). On 5 April 2017, Zimmer revealed that he was nearly finished with the score, and that it would be complete by the start of his Hans Zimmer Live on Tour shows in May.

For the purpose of intensity, the script was written to accommodate the auditory illusion of a Shepard tone, which had previously been explored in Nolan's 2006 film The Prestige. This was coupled with the sound of a ticking clock, that of Nolan's own pocket watch, which he recorded and sent to Zimmer to be synthesized. The first pressing is individually numbered and pressed on transparent blue vinyl.

Zwartjes - Tapes 2

Tapes 2

01.12.2020

Frans Zwartjes is famous for his art-house films (look him up on YouTube). A Dutch underground auteur, his prolific output dates from 1968. A unique talent, Zwartjes produced, directed and edited his own films (his last work was in 1991), but more importantly he created and improvised the soundtracks too. Zwartjes and his large body of work is only now being recognised by a wider, more international crowd, with screenings at the NFT and other important art-house cinemas across the world. The recordings on Tapes 2 were mixed directly from the Zwartjes soundtrack tape archive. They were assembled directly and in real time by Zwartjes archivist Stanley Schtinter and have never been issued before.

The music and sound have been put together as two long, seamless sequences; they are dreamlike, unsettling, peculiar, plugged-in, prescient and unlike any other soundtrack we have heard.

OLAFUR ARNALDS - FOUND SONGS

Olafur Arnalds

FOUND SONGS

10inchERATP017EP
Erased Tapes
01.12.2020

rom Twitter via Flickr to traditional record stores. 7-songs in 7-days online series becomes physical. In April 2009, Iceland's neo-classical export Olafur Arnalds created the 7-song series 'Found Songs' recording a song a day for 7 days and instantly making each track available via Twitter. With artwork contributions from fans via Flickr, this modern release awakens memories of a tradition that seemed lost in the digital age we live in. Born in 1987, Olafur hails from the suburban Icelandic town, Mosfellsb?r, just a few kilometres outside of Reykjavik. He has immersed himself completely in a world of delicate symphonic compositions generating near weightless orchestral pieces. Arnalds explores the crossover from classical to pop by mixing chamber strings and piano with discreet electronics which makes him a perfect fit for cinematic pop label Erased Tapes. His motivations are clear: "The classical scene is kind of closed to people who haven't been studying music all their lives. I would like to bring my classical influence to the people who don't usually listen to this kind of music?open people's minds." This young artist is steadily gaining recognition worldwide since his 2007 debut 'Eulogy for Evolution'. The 2008 follow-up EP 'Variations of Static' earned ?lafur acclaim from both the contemporary and classical field ? transcending a traditional divide by uniting their ideals. After filling London's world-famous Barbican Hall, fellow Icelanders Sigur R?s invited ?lafur to open their most recent European shows, playing to an audience of over 5,000 per night. With the next full-length release due this winter, ?lafur conceived 'Found Songs' as a way to collate several lost and found musical sketches and ideas in a 'very challenging, but fun' series. The experiment offers its listeners an intimate insight into ?lafur Arnalds' creative world. 'The songs will be different from what's on my albums; they will be short, mostly just made up from piano. Something to keep me going?' So far more than 70.000 people downloaded the 'Found Songs' series via foundsongs.erasedtapes
Each track inspired a wealth of artwork from his fans ? submitted via Flickr. Hosting this project on their official website, Erased Tapes Records watched the collaboration between Arnalds and his online audience flourish and found it fitting to combine the music and artwork into one complete work. A re-mastered physical and limited edition will now be released as a CD, 10" Vinyl and high-quality Download. ?lafur is currently in the studio with Bardi Johannsson (Bang Gang) who will be co-producing his upcoming album. Arnalds growing reputation has also won him the attention of the internationally renowned British dance choreographer Wayne McGregor who has invited ?lafur to score his brand new work. 'Dyad 1909' will be premiered in London at the Sadler's Wells Theatre this October. The show will go on a EU-wide tour with Arnalds included in an impressive creative line-up alongside acclaimed artists and filmmakers Jane and Louise Wilson.**PLEASE NOTE: CD comes in deluxe digipack with free download voucher for Erased Tapes Vol: 1 an 11 track label compilation. The 10" vinyl comes with free mp3 version of Found Sounds and E.T. Vol:1 comp.

Charles Wain - The Last Wave Soundtrack

The premiere soundtrack release to Peter Weir's 1977 Australian New Wave classic.
Lost electronic score from the enigmatic composer Charles Wain.
12-track LP sourced from the original stereo master tapes.t.
180g vinyl and deluxe packaging including archival film stills and original press material

The Last Wave (also known as Black Rain in the US) was the final chapter in a trilogy of films scripted and directed by the leading auteur of the Australian New Wave, Peter Weir.

Beginning in 1974 with the absurdist black comedy-horror The Cars That Ate Paris, and followed a year later by the lush gothic mystery Picnic At Hanging Rock, The Last Wave was a landmark in existential horror. Sitting alongside other Australian eco-terror films (e.g. Long Weekend) the film featured a haunting electronic soundtrack that is as mysterious and beguiling as the spiritual themes of the film itself.

With no LP issued after the films premiere in 1977, and together with the mystery surrounding the true identity of its enigmatic composer 'Charles Wain', the score is a largely unheard recording of pioneering experimental film electronics, easily compared to the music that contemporaries Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream were composing for Australian films during the same period or the electronic soundtracks of John Carpenter.

Tense atonal electronics, synthesizer drones and manipulated Didjeridu all perfectly capture the film's ominous atmosphere, punctuating the slow hypnotic pace of this brooding supernatural thriller. The Last Wave soundtrack is released in conjunction with the lost film music to Nicolas Roeg's 1971 New Wave masterpiece Walkabout composed by John Barry.

180g yellow colored vinyl

WRWTFWW Records is not trolling when it says it is very very very happy to announce the official reissue of Richard Band’s soundtrack for horror fantasy classic Troll (1986).The limited edition yellow-colored 180g vinyl LP is housed in a heavy gatefold sleeve with full movie gallery, obi strip, and video store stickers. The album is also available on CD house in a classic jewel case with cavalier and video store sticker. Both versions contain liner notes by Richard Band himself.

The infamous Troll score is its very own kind of monster: an extended five-movement symphony conducted by Richard Band in full sorcery mode, creating exhilarating moments of excitement and seat-gripping intensity. At the center of the magnum opus lies the incredible "Cantos Profanae" and its chorus sung in a mix of old English, Gaelic, and Latin - an irresistible magic rhythm, an anthem of fantasy, a true cult classic. Richard Band often cites Troll as one of his favorite works - no wonder, it’s absolutely amazing!

This is released in conjunction with the soundtracks of Empire Pictures’ Ghoulies and TerrorVision, also out on WRWTFWW Records November 20th. Established by producer and director Charles Band in 1983, Empire Pictures quickly became notorious for the horror-comedy classics made during its brief but legendary lifespan. With wild special effects, outrageous humor and over-the-top horror action, Ghoulies, Troll and TerrorVision were three of Empire’s finest works, and each movie featured an unforgettable score by Charles’ award-winning composer brother Richard Band.

'Make Love on the Wing', from the original soundtrack of EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS, is a dance-floor banger sung by Ulla Linder, while 'Sweet Disco Funky' (from EMANUELLE AND THE WHITE SLAVE TRADE) is exactly what its name suggests: pure funky disco with an unmistakable Italian touch, featuring awesome vocal harmonies and strings.

DJs around the world will go crazy for this unique disco sound! Welcome to the funky side of Black Emanuelle!

WRWTFWW Records is giggling with pleasure as it announces the official reissue of Richard Band’s director’s cut soundtrack for sci-fi horror comedy classic TerrorVision (1986).The limited edition blue-colored 180g vinyl LP is housed in a heavy gatefold sleeve with full movie gallery, obi strip, and video store stickers. It includes liner notes by Richard Band himself.

People of Earth
Your planet is about to be destroyed...
We're terribly sorry for the inconvenience

Conceived as a late 1960s Lost in Space type score with a 80s electronic twist, TerrorVision is one of the most unique soundtracks in Richard Band’s discography. Part oddball adventure, part eerie soundscape, it mixes the fun and flashy colors of the era with synth explorations that flirt with minimalism and experimental music. Band composed with a Yamaha CS70 plus twin ARP 2800s, a mini Moog synthesizer, as well as DX5 and DX7 keyboards, creating a groovy twilight zone of electrifying alien funk. The soundtrack also includes 5 numbers by deliriously wild LA band The Fibonaccis. One of a kind - like the movie itself!

This is released in conjunction with the soundtracks of Empire Pictures’ Ghoulies and Troll, also out on WRWTFWW Records November 20th. Ennio Morricone - Morricone Segreto

Ennio Morricone, the world-renowned Italian composer, sadly passed away at the age of 91 earlier this year. During an extraordinary career which spanned more than six decades, he created over 600 original compositions.Behind his hugely celebrated film scores of Once Upon A Time In The West, Once Upon A Time In America, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, Hateful Eight and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly is a hidden, eccentric side to his genius that is deeply appreciated amongst his fans, many other artists and connoisseurs. This brand new collection, featuring 7 previously unreleased tracks, explores what is possibly Morricone’s richest creative period, between the end of the 1960s to the early 80s, demonstrating Morricone’s long lasting influence for generations of musicians and film directors to this day. MORRICONE SEGRETO is an acid-tinged sonic journey through mysterious voices, fuzz guitars, airy strings, eerie synths and modern grooves from the Academy-a composer who was always ahead of the trend, dictating style in his own way.Highlights include extracts for Lui Per Lei, Stark System and Il Clan Dei Siciliani.

ZDENEK LISKA - MALA MORSKA VILA (THE LITTLE MERMAID)

2020 PRESS

The original orchestral/electronic score from Karel Kachyna’s 1976 Czech film adaptation of Hans C. Anderson’s The Little Mermaid, composed by Zdenek Liska (The Cremator / Fruits of Paradise) featuring Lenka Korinkova. Available for the first time since being originally pressed in 2011 as part of the ongoing Finders Keepers’ 15th anniversary retrospective. Check!

Liska's legacy in the history of European cinema is huge in volume but relatively modest in it’s celebrity. Having already composed nine scores for Kachyna’s films to add to his 1976 filmography of 150 completed soundtracks.

Back in 2005, five years before Finders Keepers Records released Zdenek Liška’s soundtrack to Malá morská víla for the first time, folklore and fairy tale fanatics around the globe celebrated the 200 year anniversary of the birth of one of the world’s most celebrated children’s authors of the published era. This Danish born writer’s stories have been translated into over 150 languages and have continued to enchant and inspire children and adults, arts and crafts, film and theatre, providing a creative binding substance in modern society’s social fibre. With a life story that entwines equal measures of tragedy, mystery, intensity and majesty to that of his own written work, Hans Christian Andersen’s early years balancing contradictory roles as a weaver’s apprentice, a soprano singer, a fledgling poet and an abused grammar school pupil with speculative links to the monarchy, manifested themselves in his written world of fantasy and fiction. His running themes of mutation, metamorphosis, rebirth, prejudice and class distinction are none more prevalent than in what are perhaps his two best known tales The Ugly Duckling, first published 11th November 1843, and the bittersweet surrealist tale of The Little Mermaid, printed in the third booklet of the first volume of Eventyr, Fortalte For Børn (Tales, Told For Children) in 1837.

One of the most idiosyncratic and haunting undiscovered scores in the annals of European cinematic history, Liska’s forward thinking score has all the hallmarks of a Broadcast record, some 20 years before the band first committed sound to vinyl..

Beautifully remastered with updated liner notes including rare photos ith the full cooperation of the seminal Barrandov studios in Prague.

Alain Pierre - Ô Sidarta

2023 Restock

Within the elusive confines of this film awaits an unreleased album that defies categorisation by a musician who in a different time and space would be revered amongst some of the most important exponents of progressive rock, dark ambient, Krautrock and pioneering synthesiser composition - not to mention sound design and art-house film scores. As a protégé of François Bayle and Luc Ferrari who had studied classical music before immersing himself in found-sound manipulation and oscillators, Alain Pierre quickly became an enthusiastic go-to man for sound sculpture and technical studio proficiency in Belgium’s small film industry.

To the many generations of dedicated fans of the visual work of Philippe Druillet it might seem virtually impossible to adequately “score” the alien, futurist landscapes of the man who many called the “space architect” (on account of his space age reductions of Gothic cathedrals, Art Nouveau, and Indian temples), but once you have heard the sonic reactions of Alain Pierre on this the first-ever dedicated Druillet documentary, Ô Sidarta, complete with his own equivalent sound palette, it will be difficult to “hear” Druillet’s world via any other composer. Despite Druillet’s truly incredible record sleeve designs for projects like cosmic disco ensemble Black Sun, concept albums such as Attention by Jean-Pierre Mirouze (composer of Le Mariage Collectif), Parisian metal bands like Sortilège, gatefold portraits of Jimi Hendrix, later period albums by William Sheller and most relevantly on albums by Igor Wakhévitch (Docteur Faust, 1971) as well as separate releases by both Richard Pinhas and Georges Grünblatt (both from the cosmic prog outfit Heldon), it is fair to say that this criminally unreleased album by Alain Pierre would conjure up the closest synergy between sound and vision that either artist would come close to.

The almost twelve of continuous music that Alain Pierre supplied for Ô Sidarta in 1974 fortunately appears in its entirety, unedited, as it does here for the first time ever away from its original broadcasts. Broadcast on Belgian and French TV that autumn, the film received a warm reception from Druillet fans, prospective film producers and space rock fans lucky enough to catch the short feature.

Throughout his career Alain’s commitment to conceptual music excelled within both cinematic realms as well as with the live arena. Never shying away from the constraints of transporting heavy synthesiser technolog and unpredictable analogue equipment to public spaces, Alain took his self-initiated “live” work very seriously. It was within his lesser-documented performances that you would find the closest sound to the music on Ô Sidarta, proving that the Druillet collaboration was naturalistic and conceptually close to Alain’s personal stylistic agenda. A rare recording of a one-off concert at the Université libre de Bruxelles in October 1976 reveals a very similar set of movements and soundscapes found on Ô Sidarta. This rare artefact has been included on the second side of this record under its original title Notions de physique intérieure (Notions Of Interior Physics) and stands as a perfect companion piece to Ô Sidarta - complete with a very similar “kit list” including the welcome addition of an Arp Sequencer, a Korg Vocoder and a Theremin (a back line whose total would far surpass any stationary studio of the era never mind a live show!).

By looking back at his original composition for one of his very first solo soundtrack commissions, Ô Sidarta, you can hear that back in 1974 Alain had already successfully managed to combine more unlikely musical influences, experimental techniques, and previously unheard soundscapes and studio tricks in to one twelve-minute score than most musicians fail to cram in to a whole discography. But still there is so much music yet to be discovered and Ô Sidarta is just the tip of the iceberg in the middle of a cosmic sea. Much like a character from one of Philippe Druillet’s books, Alain Pierre is a rogue pilot, steering his own ship in to the unknown, uncharted, unnoticed and quite unbelievable.

Giallo is the fourth in a series of five double vinyl releases that bring together some of Ennio Morricone’s greatest soundtrack music. Each collection centres on a different movie genre, together they allow the listener to rediscover the unmatched genius of the greatest movie composer of all time. The Maestro. This collection was announced before Ennio Morricone passed away on July 6, 2020. We’ll continue to release the series to honour this great composer.

When we think of 1960’s Italian pulp cinema, the spaghetti western is the genre that comes to mind. However, Italy was responsible for another classic cinematic exploitation movement around the same time, one that is equally as compelling, but less widely recognised. Giallo…

Giallo, meaning ‘yellow’, is the Italian term for crime fiction, it was named after the bright yellow colours of early pulp fiction paperbacks. Film audiences adopted it as the name for a peculiarly Italian sub-genre of thriller cinema that had its heyday in the 1970’s - just as the Spaghetti Western movement was waning. The Giallo can be difficult to define, but essentially it is an Italian crime film that draws from a pool of common themes: stylized murders, amateur sleuths, sleazy glamour, psychological crimes, enigmatic titles and all these themes are underpinned by creepily atmospheric Ennio Morricone music scores. Starting 70 years ago as an arranger for the piece Mamma Bianca, Ennio Morricone is the emperor of scores and soundtracks. Morricone has always been a huge influence for the likes of Hans Zimmer, Danger Mouse, Muse, Metallica and many more musicians. He was one of the most successful composers of all-time, selling over 70 million records and winning dozens of awards.

Giallo is available as a limited edition of 3000 individually numbered copies on “giallo and black marbled” (clear, yellow and black mixed) vinyl. The package includes a 4-page insert with liner notes written by Claudio Fuiano. The gatefold sleeve contains a silver foil spot varnish on the outside and images of iconic movie posters on the inside.

Mondo, in partnership with Lakeshore Music, is proud to present Emile Mosseri's score for the Amazon Original Series HOMECOMING: SEASON TWO.

Emile produces a vast array of work here (27 tracks in total) which is varied in tone but super cohesive; certain cues remind of classic Bernard Herrman. Others, you can hear faint echoes from The Shining by Wendy Carlos, but this is no mere pastiche, Emile’s work is exciting, thoughtful, intense, and playful, sometimes within the same cue. A classic score in every sense that can easily hold it’s own with any number of heavy-hitting scores from the 1960’s/1970's. A genuine delight from start to finish and one that is sure to be high on many end of year lists come December 2020.

In 2005, the album won a Dove Award for Instrumental album of the year at the 36th GMA Dove Awards.

The soundtrack succeeds as a coherent, moving, well-executed musical statement whether or not has seen the film. The album is a combination of folk instruments, Eastern-tinged harmonics, solo, and choral voices. Debney has used the Indian master violinist and vocalist L. Debney's soundtrack is an interesting and highly recommended work. It will offer those who choose to encounter it a far-reaching and deeply affective listening experience that is as aesthetically beautiful and unsetting as it is evocatively familiar.

- SCORE BY JOHN DEBNEY
- CONTAINS A 8-PAGE BOOKLET
- LIMITED 15TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION OF 500 INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED COPIES ON TRANSPARENT RED VINYL

Passion Of The Christ (2004), composed by John Debney, is the original score for Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion Of The Christ. The soundtrack received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score and it was on the first place in both Top Christian Albums and Top Soundtracks in 2004.

Shankar, and singer/double-violinist Gingger Shankar.

Debney's soundtrack is an interesting and highly recommended work. It will offer those who choose to encounter it a far-reaching and deeply affective listening experience that is as aesthetically beautiful and unsetting as it is evocatively familiar.

JOHN CARPENTER - Lost Themes III. Alive After Death

Much has changed in the musical life of renowned composer and director John Carpenter since 2016's Lost Themes II. Following the release of that album, he went on his first-ever concert tour, performing material from the Lost Themes albums, as well as music from his classic film scores. He re-recorded many of those classic movie themes for 2017's Anthology album, working alongside son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. The following year, he was asked to executive produce and compose the music for the new Halloween movie directed by David Gordon Green, which promptly became the highest-grossing installment in the series. Now, he returns with his first album of non-soundtrack music in nearly five years, Lost Themes III: Alive After Death. Underpinning Carpenter's renaissance as a musician has been his collaboration with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. They've composed and performed as a trio throughout this entire run, on studio albums, on soundtracks, and onstage. Here, the trio reaches a new level of creative mind meld. Richly rendered worlds are built in the interplay between Davies's guitar and the dueling synthesizers played by the Carpenters. "We begin with a theme, a bass line, a pad, something that sounds good and will lead us to the next layer," John says of the trio's process. "We then just keep adding on from there. We understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, how to communicate without words, and the process is easier now than it was in the beginning. We've matured." Whereas the original Lost Themes album came as a pleasant surprise after years of relative silence from Carpenter, the third installment sees him in the midst of a resurgent moment as a cultural force. The 2018 Halloween score gave his music its biggest audience in decades, and the world he releases his new album into is one that has, at long last, given him the credit he deserves as a founding father of modern electronic music.

Bruno Lauzi - Un posto ideale per uccidere (Oasis of Fear)

This is the first official issue of the soundtrack from Umberto Lenzi's cult film UN POSTO IDEALE PER UCCIDERE (also known abroad as OASIS OF FEAR and DIRTY PICTURES). Despite being one of the rare instances in which Italian singer-songwriter Bruno Lauzi wrote for film, this stunning work really hits the mark.

The 7-inch features an extended, previously unreleased edit of the super cool 'Babadaba', a contagious samba-jazz cut sung by Lauzi himself along with an unknown female singer – a track that will set your dance floor on fire.

On the flip side you've got 'Incontro', a groovy, jazzy, downtempo track with a fantastic leading flute melody.

01.12.2020

Four Flies are proud and honoured to release the first vinyl reissue of Bruno Nicolai's outstanding original score for GEMINUS, a 1969 Italian TV mini-series directed by Luciano Emmer and starring Walter Chiari, Alida Chelli, and Ira von Fürstenberg.

Originally released under Italian label Gemelli, Nicolai's soundtrack has been remastered from the original master tapes and comes in a glossy, tip-on style jacket featuring the restored original cover artwork, as well as extended liner notes by film critics Francesco Cesari and Roberto Curti.

Bruno Nicolai composed and directed an eclectic score that brings together different music genres and influences, from 60s beat, psych, and progrock to baroque and experimental music. He did not hesitate to mix classical forms and structures with new instruments andremarkable, eccentric arrangements.

In 'Giano' (Janus), the interplay between a distorted electric guitar and a hypnotic harpsichord creates a strange, somewhat troubling ambience.

The delicate, celestial voice of Edda Dell'Orso leaves its unique emotional imprint on the most lyricalpiece in the soundtrack, 'Tema Barocco' (Baroque Theme).

The main theme 'Il cielo cade' (The Sky Is Falling) features a luxurious arrangement and stunning orchestration enhanced by enchanting vocal harmonies sung by 'I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni'.

In other pieces, such as 'Larve' (Larvas), 'Il sognatore' (The Dreamer), 'Eclisse di luna' (Moon Eclipse), 'Visioni' (Visions), 'Catacombe' (Catacombs), and 'Notti romane' (Roman Nights), expressive and experimental solo passages played by instruments such as the vibraphone, sitar, harmonica, or percussions, contribute to the sombre, mysterious atmosphere of the score as a whole.

Connected to the Occulto LP, this 7-inch single by Sorgini features two alternative versions of

'Telecinesi' (Telekinesis), a dark, nocturnal tune with a supernatural, macabre flavour, fuelled by solid drum breaks, percussions and restless synths harmonies.

On the flip side you've got a drums and synths only version, which sounds even more spectral and abstract than the original mix. Ideal for beatmakers looking for the perfect sample.

Shawn Lee & Paul Elliott - Mexican Marimba

While filming "The Library Music Film", Shawn Lee & Paul Elliott travelled the world interviewing legendary composers, musicians and producers. This meant visiting some incredible recording studios, studios almost as famous as the music created in them, places like Telecine Sound Studio in Rome, Angel Studios in London, Studio CBE in Paris and Piero Umiliani's Sound workshop in Rome.

f you have ever met Shawn Lee & Paul Elliott, you will know they can't resist picking up an instrument or two for an impromptu jam, so it was inevitable that the pair would create some music in at a least a couple of these world-renowned studios. This special 7" release is the result of their spontaneous, off the cuff musical moments.

"Mexican Marimba" was kick started in The Sound Workshop Studio in Rome, when Shawn and Paul played the Maestro Piero Umiliani's Mexican Marimba with their fingers - the mallets where not next to the instrument, so they just played anyway!

"French Attack" began life when Paul improvised a piece on Studio CBE's tack piano, while Shawn sat on the floor beating out the rhythm on a bass drum and tom toms - this moment can briefly be seen in "The Library Music Film"

Both recordings were then taken back to London to Shawn Lee's own studio for the finishing touches and the music was included in the film's underscore. Here it is released commercially for the first time!

Various - Respect the unexpected - in the age of sci-fi

"It’s a soundtrack homage to the 80's science fiction b-movie scene,
composed by contemporary artists.

The Compilation Includes 12 artists and 19 tracks on vinyl and cd.
The Sleeves are DIY screen printed and the jacket is built out of wire fence."

When Cole Porter composed "Don't Fence Me In", record packaging was probably not on the forefront of his mind. In the 21st century, as the world stumbles from one stage of being fenced in to another, KP maestro Herc E Rillen has broken ground and produced once again a selection of some of the most intriguing artists. And, as might be expected, this collection is presented in a material not originally intended for displaying musical recordings - a hand made cover which should be handled with care.

After the insane "Weird State.." dressed in a screen printed straw matting; "No Order.." in a screen printed wooden sleeve; group A
held together with cuticle pirecing sharp wire, and a gaggle of tapes housed in various materials, Kashual Plastik has once again found the wire cutters, to enrobe the album and CD set in fencing material.

The music:
Al Chem has previously recorded for legendary label Art Yard (also responsible for myriad official Sun Ra reissues over the years). LST has released for Another Dark Age, unquantifiable label of the Low Company / Blackest Ever Black diaspora. Brazilian artist Innsyster has recorded for L.A. Club Resource and Good Morning Tapes, among others. Waswaas has clocked up two highly regarded releases for The Trilogy Tapes. With “Steamboat Jr.”, by Cologne-based musician, visual artist and inventor of electroacoustic instruments Andreas Oskar Hirsch, “Respect the Unexpected...” goes rhythmic for the first time, with fourth-world freestyle “gamelan” grooves that trip into a new cosmic reality.

The A Side ends with Inkasso, a duo consisting of the two Berlin nighthawks operating from the Abteilung für Akustisch Visuelle Härtefälle – a studio where they produced this short and overwhelmingly intense claustrophobic synth maelstrom called “Astralkörper”.

Side B brings a rough, mesmerizing minimal ethno-industrial composition by A.N.I., a to watch out trio consisting of the three masters Don’t DJ, Bear Bones Lay Low and Black Zone Myth Chant.

EEL - Philipp Matalla and Robert Schulze - released their debut HDD EP on our own in-house label, Ethbo last year. Philipp also contributed to the "Weird State..." compilation. “Basamaci 4”, a slow drilling tune by Belgrade based producer, DJ and Drugstore club booker Kӣr, is next, bringing Tolouse Low Trax-esque vibes into the game while mixing all with manic madhouse sounds for contemporary shamanistic late-night rituals. TRJJ, a loose group based in Germany since 1998, that releases on Belgium’s famed STROOM, steps into the witchcraft arena with “Before Planetary Scale”, a gentle pop tribal song full of absorbing organic percussion magnetism. NKLS, another mysterious sound originator that is so far hidden in the dark. His tune “Social Hypnosis” introduces a slow-motion breakbeat space voyage, amplified by found sound spoken words and Detroit-ish arpeggios.

XVARR has also featured on Good Morning Tapes, and the late, great Blowing Up The Workshop. Jorge Velez has released for Crème Organization and L.I.E.S., among others. Hinosch is Em Records veteran Hino Yashiro (goat, YPY) and Stefan Schneider (TAL, To Rococo Rot), and Pose Dia is about to drop an LP on Bureau B.

Big respeck to the Kashual massive, hope your fingers heal soon.

Tangerine Dream - The Sessions II

Beide neuen Veröffentlichungen wurden vom prämierten Vinyl-Toningenieur Miles Showell (The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Lana Del Rey, Dido, Underworld) in den Londoner Abbey Road Studios gemastered.

Various - DAISIES (OST)

2020 PRESS, BLACK VINYL

Previously unreleased experimental soundtrack to Vera Chytilova's groundbreaking sixties Czech New Wave classic. Available for the first time since being originally pressed in 2007 as part of the ongoing Finders Keepers’ 15th anniversary retrospective !

Back in the latter half of the 1960s this group of alternative filmmakers coming out of (then) Czechoslovakia known as the Czech New Wave were taking art house cinemas in Western Europe and America by storm. The hour long films that came out of the infamous Barrandov production house played a competitive rival to that of the French and Italian New Waves with their very own immaculate and spellbinding takes on cinema verite, film noir, surrealism and cinema concrete. But after the Soviet Union invaded Czech in August 1968 the clampdown on non-conformist creative arts saw over 70 films either banned or withdrawn from production in a mass culling of film reels until 1970.

It is not until recent years that the genre has become widely recognised as a veritable and virtually untapped source of inspiration for fans of experimental cinema, psychedelic cinematography, baroque costumes and scenery, music and graphic design. "Sedmikrasky" (aka "Daisies") pulls together what you might call the 'Holy Trinity' of the Czech New Wave - director Vera Chytilova, costume and set designer Esther Krumbachova, and cinematographer Jaroslav Kucera - arguably the three most forward thinking and truly experimental minds in the whole of the CNW collective.

Witness Les Petites Margeurites (original French theatrical title) as they mischievously flutter through Prague’s finest restaurants accompanying middle-aged men on flamboyant double dates in gastronomic ménage à trois - “If the world spoils itself, then we shall be spoiled as well” decide the two bikini clad button-cute Maries in the films opening scenes.

The radical and experimental nature of Daisies is further enhanced by its erratic score which consists of the juxtaposition of various non-melodic elements and sound effects, laden with a broad palette of samples and snippets of choral and classical vintage recordings spliced with concréte effects, traditional brass band music, Disney style exotica, Charleston dance standards and token 60’s beat tracks.

Originally prepared for public consumption by Finders Keepers in 2007 and available once again this immaculate release was taken from the original reels and compiled in close accordance to the original storyline and comes complete with unseen archive images, original international poster designs and new and extensive sleevenotes.

ZDENEK LISKA - MALA MORSKA VILA (THE LITTLE MERMAID)

2020 PRESS, SPLATTER VINYL
