Paris-based artist Felicie delivers her first solo vinyl release on Manchester's imprint Clergy.

'Art of Detachment' is composed of four original tracks, focusing on the fusion of hardgroove with an edge of 90's inspired energy, while blurring the line with Felicie's more current fast paced rhythms.

Opening with 'The Halo Effect' strong oldschool vocals and groove-ridden drums, setting the tone for a straight-forward desire to make nothing but dance, with its energetic and punchy stabs.

Followed by 'Shadow Works, a powerful drum work tool weapon where the breakdowns focus on bringing the right tension on the dancefloor, through its questioning yet captivating percussions and subtle melodies.

Turbo celebrates the 10th anniversary of Gesaffelstein’s seminal work on then Montreal-based imprint with a long-awaited repress of all three EPs: Variations, Conspiracy Pt. 1, and Conspiracy Pt. 2.

Every track on 'Variations' is a battle-tested bomb. Gesaffelstein’s sound is clearly influenced by New Wave and the Gigolo-era electro (2001-2) of fellow Frenchmen The Hacker and David Carretta, but it sounds like a fresh update rather than pastiche, revitalized and refined down to a modern and versatile core.

These tracks work in Tiga's festival sets alongside some of the summer's biggest anthems, yet are equally at home in a more underground setting, e.g. Von Party's 5am warm-up before Ivan Smagghe at a London warehouse party. The title track has the most attitude, establishing a palette of dark staccato basslines, crunching hi-hats, hands-in-the-air cowbells and trippy synth leads. Selected Faces and Atmosphere are arguably even more straightforward club weapons, their breakdowns creating just enough 'insanity' without getting annoying, their grooves dropping back in with a cool, restrained power that will win over hiss weary DJs.


With remixes upcoming for Turbo and Institubes, a follow-up EP for Turbo in the works... if you want an idea as to how big Gesaffelstein will get this year, just think of him as 'Brodinkelstein.'

Star Gazing is just as space-stradling as the title suggests, off-key, offworld discords colliding with breakbeats and detroitian atmospherics, intricate electronics, the burblings of a robot examining the earth of an alien world, before huge bass enters the party.

The emotionally stirring sound of Mathame is back on Afterlife. Their signature, processed vocals shine on the infectious and entrancing ‘For Every Forever’. It’s a sound they have developed over their releases for Afterlife and is now truly their own. A Dub Mix of the title track offers a slightly more pared down alternative. ‘Stairway 3000’ completes the record, an eyes-down roller with a bassline to shake any room to its core.

Eddie Symons' fine recent run for Central Processing Unit continues. The NULLPTR mastermind makes it four releases on the Sheffield label in five years with Recursor, a six-track EP which balances precision-engineered machine-funk grooves with an overarching aura of gracefulness.

Recursor finds its lane from the opening title-track. On the quicksilver 'Recursor' we get Drexciyan punch, a needlegun bassline and staccato arps offset by eerie washes of synths. There's a tension between the two elements of the track, and this yin-yang combination means that' Recursor' will work equally well for both the rave's darkest corners and also the euphoria of a sunrise set.

After the title-track begins the record at breakneck speed, 'Pulsar' puts proceedings into cruise control. There's still enough punch in the drum programming to ensure that 'Pulsar' will deliver in the dance, but this mid-paced tune is dominated by its warping bassline and keening keys, all of which comes together for a pretty and strangely wistful number. 'Pulsar's energy persists into following cut 'Phase Function, though there's a twitchiness to the bassline here which gives this track a nervier, more neurotic feel. As well as the golden age of Detroit electro, you're also looking at Silicon Scally and Annie Hall as ballpark references, though there's a winning idiosyncrasy to the production here which is all NULLPTR's own.

The groove which kicks off the second half of Recursor is one of the most focussed on the whole EP - 'Seil' has a bassline which moves with the intent of a heat-seeking missile. When combined with the distant snap of 808s and twinkling arps, the whole thing very much maintains the shadowy feeling of 'Phase Function', and it's an energy that Recursor rides into 'Stone Tape'. 'Stone Tape' boasts another stellar bassline, but rather than the low-end barrelling forward intensely as it does on 'Seil' the bass here skips all around the mix, pleasingly erratic and playful.

'Portal' is an apt title for Recuror's sixth and final track. Indeed, the whole vibe of 'Portal' makes it a perfect closer for this EP of detailed electro jams. This tune really does feel like a portal being opened, the bass and drums busying themselves on the floor while chemtrails of synth in the upper-end of the mix intimate something enticing beyond the threshold.

Sparky yet sleek, Recursor is the latest fine machine-funk collection from NULLPTR.

Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.

The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev’s sound. ‘Pulse V’ is charged with the kind of alien synth lines which could only come from his studio, but also draw a line to the hi-tech soul of foundational Detroit techno. ‘Pulse VI’ has a starker, bleep-led sound pitched towards tougher dancefloors.

’Pulse VII’ strips things back in comparison, leaning in on a blanket of bass and keeping the drums sparse and to the point - a study in soundsystem pressure. Widening the spectrum of the record, ‘Pulse VIII’ sees Pev make a rare push up into 160+ territory - something normally reserved for his DJ sets. Swerving obvious break edits, his take on jungle is lean and crisp, delivering a fresh slant on the sound while maintaining the sharp focus of his current output.

Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.

The real ROBOTRON has been active since the 90s and now back on track to refresh some PORNOGRAPHIX action with serious 80s power by THE EGYPTIAN LOVER – delivering pure egyptian sexiness on V1.0 and lo-fied cybersonic harassment via V2.0 on the third release out of ROBOTRON’s home base called SKYNET CYBERSONIX.

Skynet T.3 is a juicy object of desire – limited to 200 x 12″ on black or silver marbled vinyl. Excellent high impact techno from Amsterdam, where Italian producer Francesco Rosati found his home. After releases on labels like Absolute, Sungate and Voltage, the 'Encounter' EP is his debut release for the NOWHERE series on Something Happening, Somewhere (SoHaSo). Rosati calls his new EP a statement to his stylistic musical output. He uses a hybrid setup of vintage analog machines and digital devices. For Encounter he wanted to grab the spirit of the moment. All five tracks were recorded directly in a single take, capturing pure energy. It is probably the most pure techno release SoHaSo has done in a while. Opener Stabber alone is pure energy, with its roling Reese-like baselines, mesmerizing hi-hats and hypnotizing loops. The whole EP is a respectful nod to Detroit masters like Robert Hood and Jeff Mills while it also winks back to the menacing UK techno sound of the 90s. Or like Rosati says on his Soundcloud: ''Future is the door - past is the key.''

CROWD, a new techno label hailing from Berlin has just released its debut EP, paying homage to oldschool techno while infusing a contemporary twist that is sure to please listeners of both eras. Produced by the legendary Sterac aka Steve Rachmad, the EP is showcasing the versatility and timelessness of techno.

The tracks are carefully crafted and highlight the pure energy and raw emotion of the genre, always leaving the listener wanting more. Basic Moves are teaming up with Listen! Festival again for the 3rd year in a row to curate a stage presenting artists from the past and new talent for the future. This year’s promotional tool is something tactile and very common in the Basic Moves world… It’s a 12” vinyl record!

All of the benefits of this record will go to Liaison Anti-prohibitioniste , an association for people affected by drug policies. It brings together those who are confronted with the problems caused by the prohibition of certain drugs. All are convinced, from their experience, of the need to implement an alternative policy to prohibitionism.

For his debut album Dip Shim digs deep into his past for his most personal release yet, drawing on his childhood in Spain for a genre-bending album of electronics, combining influences from house, techno, electro, downtempo, and ambient to create one of the year’s most essential releases.

Dip Shim, who also runs the Bolero record store in Malmo, Sweden, pushes and tweaks those silver boxes to create music with one foot in the past but looking to the future, from the fluid acid house of Dalaplan Jam and Bubble Gate, uptempo electro jams like BDP Fast Life and Tusso Arcade Force, to meditative joints such as One For Regen and Impossible Connection.

But although the album is eclectic, these 12 tracks are underpinned by Dip Shim’s unique hardware-led sound, proving he’s an artist with depth and longevity.

Earlier this year, Subwax Bcn made an important contribution to the electronic music community by having the timeless dub techno compilation Vibrant Forms II by Fluxion remastered and reissued. As it turned out, Vibrant Forms II became one of the last records to be released on Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald's classic label - a suitable swan song if there ever was one. Well not quite.

If one would search for Fluxion - Vibrant Forms III, Discogs would come up empty and Google would treat it as a misspelling. Until now.
Konstantinos Soublis, aka Fluxion, and Subwax Bcn have decided to pick up the banner and release Vibrant Forms III as a CD as well as four individual 12" records under 2016. It contains everything you could hope for and more: The massive, booming basses, the clicks and hisses, the atmospheric thunderstorms, the opium smoke-scented streaks of reverb and dub echoes. The warmth. Yes, above all else the warmth: Sometimes moist and dripping as in Safe Harbour, sometimes blisteringly dry as in Variant. It's no easy task, giving cold, dead machines warm breaths. And no-one quite does it like Fluxion.

The Reissue of Vibrant Forms II was an act of cultural preservation. It reminded us about the legacy of the Basic Channel label family, in which Chain Reaction played an important part. Without this legacy, the contemporary body of electronic music would look different and make very different sounds. With the Release of Vibrant Forms III, Subwax Bcn takes it one step further. Fluxion's Vibrant Forms III album remind us of the timelessness of truly great music, never mind the genre.

Roberto Capuano returns with his first Drumcode EP since 2015.
The Neapolitan has long occupied a special place in the heart of Adam Beyer. His cut ‘Never Stop’ is one of the finest Truesoul releases in recent years and he came up trumps with Drumcode’s 150th release in 2015 with ‘The Wilford’ EP, featuring the dub techno groover ‘Obsessed’.
His last outing on Drumcode was the fantastic ‘Limitless’, a collaboration with Luigi Madonna that featured on A-Sides Vol.6 in 2017.

‘The Walker EP’ is Capuano’s most full-bodied work on Drumcode to date. The title track is a stealth combination of punishing drums and dystopian arpeggios building up a dark brew of energy.
The slick ‘Sirio’ concludes the quadruplet of cuts, as stomping grooves rub shoulders with multi-layered melody lines for a satisfying finish.

‘On Your Skin’ is no less captivating, a huge Beyer favourite throughout the summer months, it’s exhilarating combination of rousing vocals, swirling synths and a catchy riff make it a slam dunk.

Finishing off the EP ‘Segment’ is a flamboyant follower, all six minutes of spine-tingling synth stabs and chopped up vocal effects are perfect for peak time moments.
