This is Lost Soul Enterprises big 15th release on wax, a tidy compilation of off-kilter dance floor cuts and misfit synthpunk anthems.
Side A commences with the gothic, neon-soaked Miami bass of ALONZO's "Cruising with Pap," featuring sinister verses delivered by a shadowy syrupsipping secret guest vocalist. Up next is bucking bronco NICK KLEIN's slow-mo industrial headbanger "Posture Test. The sonic equivalent of a sweat-soaked concrete floor, it lurches along at its own mechanical pace amid the metallic hiss and howl. Lastly, wild synth lines and ethereal dubbed-out samples dart in and out over a tough, punchy rhythmic foundation in NAEEM's "TLX," an android's sci-fi electro vision gone haywire.
On the B side, HEIDI SABERTOOTH's "Was It You" launches us deep into chugging acidic territory, combining enigmatic spoken vocals and a psychedelic, slowly evolving SH-101 line over a persuasive groove. Like a slap in the face after that comes raucous synth-punk powerhouse SSPS with "Paradise Lozt," raw as fuck, chanting a litany of dystopian tales atop pumping drums and a wash of demented organ-like synth stabs. Finally we close with the short but powerful "New Vape City" by the nomadic DOUCE ANGOISSE - an absolute earworm, a doleful coldwave ballad whose lush production plays perfect counterpoint to the icy, deadpan sentiments within.
Tempered, deep and precise from Norwegian/Danish Oblivion Dip with first cut carrying Danish obscure vocals fitting atmospherically and effortlessly well. The "Skeletonmix" targets the pure, rhythmic and spaceous sides of title the track while DJ Sotofett's remix detours electro, cold balearic and harmonising progressions. Absolute finalum with the almost jazzy acidic and speedy but beautiful lightness of "Panning".

"In the beginning there was Jack... And Jack had a groove." We know this old tale pretty well. But what do these words really mean? And does this meaning even exist nowadays?
Our fellow musician and sound researcher Stas Sharifullin, known as HMOT, presents his report Jack Studies in the form of a release on the Instrument, Gost Zvuk sublabel. Formally, it is a reissue of his single Prolegomena to Home Music Ontology, released in 2017 on Cyland. But these old tracks have been expanded, remastered by Rupert Clervaux and complemented by the two new ones. HMOT originally prepared the tracks on Jack Studies for release on Gost Zvuk, so these instrumentations are finally coming home after a long journey. Context is everything - and in the new environment, this music speaks even louder.
Originally, house music was associated with HIV/AIDS activism and the fight against racial oppression, among other things - and this was completely lost in translation in Russia. House was stripped of its political and symbolic potential, and Jack Studies tries to show how the context is slowly fading from our memory. But it's not just an observation. It's a tool of light intrusion that the author has already tested in his DJ sets. Once, he says, he played Instrumentation IV (Encore) for eleven minutes at the Kantine am Berghain.
Now that we are finally talking about Western and Eastern ways of making it in music, Jack Studies is more relevant than ever. You can see it not only as a joke said louder this time, but also as a critique of modern house music. You can also see it as a reflection on our strangeness to house music and how we can interpret it in our own way; as Sharifullin astutely suggests, as home music. He sees no line between tragedy and comedy, citing the plays of Samuel Beckett as the root of Jack Studies' irony. "They are funny and somber at the same time. To me, this release is sad, but the music here is joyful." Home music is the paradox. But it is also the beginning of something new. And in the beginning there was... what? Jack Studies has an answer.
Sigha returns to his OCS imprint for his first solo ep in over two years. 'Move To Speed' leans on the heady electronics and stylistic freedom of his Faugust project, pushing the approach into more club ready territory. Wrapping shifting sound design around frame works of thrumming rhythm and bass heft, the result is a set of tracks that nod explicitly towards the hardcore continuum as much as they take in the artists' exploration of contemporary Techno.

TEN WALLS RELEASING A LIVE ALBUM 'SYMPHONY' PERFORMED WITH FULL ORCHESTRA
A celebrated Lithuanian producer and performer Ten Walls (Marijus Adomaitis) is about to put the first live album to his discography. Featuring the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and a handful of distinguished collaborators, the album 'Symphony' comes in double vinyl.
The wildly successful live performance recorded and pressed on the vinyl took place in the summer of 2019. Almost a hundred musicians participated in the event, including piano virtuoso Petras Geniušas, hugely popular Lithuanian singer Daddy Was A Milkman, Swedish singer and producer Jonatan Bäckelie and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its founder and multi-award winner maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius.
'Symphony' is a unique opportunity to experience the signature Ten Walls sound with that extra dimension that only full symphonic orchestra is able to create. It adds a certain depth to the tracks that are on the lyrical side of the emotional spectrum, while dance bangers become even more powerful with string and brass sections giving it an additional punch.
Being a classically trained musician himself, Marijus has long dreamed of performing his music with the orchestra. It took several years for the idea to mature, during which his work received global recognition, his work being covered by world-class musicians.

On the flip side, ‘Echo Rush’ was a track that Ed, in his own words,“Found on ourlaptop one day and had no idea when we wrote it.”It was made on a synthesiser called ‘the virus’ (LOL) and Ed remembers hearing the track for the first time in a long time when he was late for a festival appearance after a delayed flight. While running up to the stage, Tom had started playing ‘Echo Rush’ and the memory was sparked. From there the duo finished the track and have now found a timely release for it, a track so obviously able to stand on its own in the coming mega summer.

On January 14, L.A.-based producer Matt "Wheez-ie" Mauldin follows up October 2021's Horizons release on Evar Records with an of-the-moment remix EP that's cathartic, riveting, uncompromising and altogether powerful. Wheez-ie gathers together an all-star cast of dancefloor iconoclasts who reinterpret his singular '90s-referential rave visions to thrilling affect – this is all killer, no filler warehouse music for those who are brave enough to take the ride.
London's jungle modernist Tim Reaper reworks "Horizons" – a Summer of Love-ready breakbeat epic with cinematic, near gothic overtones – into an homage of sorts to early LTJ Bukem, cutting up Wheezie's melancholy synths into a twinkling fairyland that dances atop a weighty ton of chopped amens and classic jungle subs.
Detroit icon DJ Stingray 313 trades in the punishing techno vibes of the original "Anon" for something equally fierce – a versatile 139 bpm slab of expertly-machined industrial electro that pairs perfectly with the sample "You think you know me, you don't," which could well be a rallying cry for Wheez-ie's unexpected musical stylings.
The surprises continue on the remix of "Pressure," tackled by Evar Records label head Aura T-09 with the wildly eclectic Barcelona-based Cardopusher. The duo transform Wheez-ie's aggressive free-festival hard trance into a cheeky and modern riff on early Paul Van Dyk/Tiësto/Love Parade anthems. Gossamer layers of Aura T-09's angelic vocals and tunneling Acperience arpeggios are offset by a wildfire of hacked breakbeats and Dominator synth stabs, revealing Cardopusher's rich breakcore past.
Rounding out this fully mental and totally unexpected remix pack is a nasty, naughty fingerblast from the Berghain dark room via Polish-born, Berlin-based VTSS. Where other remixes add the breaks, the fast-techno goddess strips back the early '90s breakbeat hardcore onslaught of the original and replaces it with an equally relentless industrial 4/4 beat – the entire tune is a masterclass in the intensity for which she's known.
Uncompromising and utterly of-the-moment, the Horizons Remix EP explores new shades of the themes that infuse Wheez-ie's original: dystopian futurism, uncertainty, dark beauty and rave catharsis. Don't sleep!

Winter thaw marks the return to Furanum of Uncto, the Silesian dyad Domink Muller and Rafal Furst, with their first full release of collaborative material since 2013's seminal FU009. Like its predecessor, Unctuous offers four cuts of viscerally engineered and rhythmically exacting dystopias, each ably situated within a striking 'synth-etic' narrative. It is this latter aspect of each arrangement that perhaps most noticeably demonstrates the pair's singular and evolving approach to composition, born out in the calculated emphasis on hardware-based expressionism.
The opening title track stands as a testament to the above: while deceptively sparse at the outset, its ponderous advance, both heavyset and indomitable as it gathers pace, is framed in the midst of an unfolding panorama of stark analog wails. Further interspersed with resonant timbres more akin to the vocalizations of some hell-beast luring its prey, the eponymous behemoth ingratiates its listener, beckoning submission to its will with the promise of exhilaratory assimilation. Such a hive-mind state attained, exhilaration does follow, yet so does a concomitant loss of agency, leaving one thoroughly subjugated and enslaved to its cadence. Perhaps as a manifestation of dramatic resistance to such a fate, 'Trust No One' daringly defies the impositions of its predecessor. Instead, it animates and emboldens the beholder through its rhythm, ineluctably driven by a sense of accelerating linear intensity. Thus arriving at a climactic percussive build whose isochronal blows shatter any remnants of doubt, angst transforms into raw conviction as one is propelled into a delirious realm of solipsistic certitude.
Situated amidst the foreboding sound of blade clashing with blade, 'Cold Knife', on the other hand, is driven by an entirely disparate off-beat progression. As its anticipatory rhythmic thrusts cut through an advancing fog of shivering drones with frigid precision, one seemingly undergoes a cyclical plunge into a state not unlike one marked by the visceral dopaminergic rush of contact with extreme cold. Finally, 'Metzgers Tochter' ('Butcher's Daughter') closes the EP with a ruthless exploration of the contrast between the gruesome and the feminine. In a similar way to the opener, the track's meter is staggered and undulating, yet also steadily punctuated with breathing room between its crushing blasts. Such scenery thus serves as a canvas for the expression of the titular character's 'beauty and the beast': a paradoxical synthesis of attraction and aural brutality, held in tension by the unceasing throbbing of the composition's beats.

Lucia H. Chung is a Taiwanese experimental artist based in London. She performs and releases music under the alias 'en creux'.
Under this alias, Lucia is interested in the underlying structures of what we call noise and is examining the effects of human interventions into its complex web of tones. Repetition and chance operations are fundamental to Lucia‘s music. It is not built on the dionysian maximalism and symbolic harshness of lots of noise artists; catharsis is not reached via an explosion of sound, but via concentration on sound phenomena and small changes, which, not unlike some minimal disco night your usual mind-altering drone ritual, sucks you in more with every tiny alteration. This music is as intense as it is sensitive.
„The Liberated Mind“, in Lucia‘s own words, „is a sort of split release between two no-input configurations“. For „Wyldside“, she tuned two different feedback mixers with identical routings as close possible, as much as tuning is possible at all on these highly volatile instruments. „The two channels naturally phased in and out from each other. I guess the process was actually akin to Steve Reich's tape techniques on Come Out and It's Gonna Rain. The whole release extrapolated from that point onwards...“ Finding and replicating similar routings/settings on no input mixing desks is the nightmare of every control freak and a task doomed to failure, but in letting go and embracing these failures, patterns emerge. And thanks to Lucia‘s careful work, these patterns become hypnotic as she carves out the essence of each feedback loop, or, as she puts it: „Actually, I did remember the setting for the final track „Earthrise“, but for whatever reasons, I just cannot reproduce the sounds and it's forever lost (at least for this point in time, maybe when the conditions are primed again for the machine, the same sounds will emerge again...). I guess that's really the essences of improvised NIMB setup. Every single sound was the effect of the previous iteration and the cause of the next iteration... (Wait... isn't it just like a Blockchain? Ha!)“

Scum of the Earth; is a nod to the duo’s Northern roots and a signal to their friends and fam ethos, featuring Watson’s uncle - Mancunian poet Thick Richard. Blending swirling synths with punk energy, on ‘Scum of the Earth’ Thick Richard’s no-frills, spoken word - ”but just remember this planet is made out of dirt, when you call me the scum of the earth” - is peppered with broken beats and distorted vox lines. Originally a track made from a live recording of Thick Richard taken in the wee hours of the morning in the smoking area of Corsica Studios about eight years ago, he managed to re-record during the UK lockdown in 2020, adding verses from another poem, People in Crack Houses Shouldn't Throw Rocks. A duo with strong creative vision, follow Thick Richard cycling around the canals of Manchester, tinnies in hand, in the glitchy, wigged out visuals for Scum of the Earth, directed and edited by Dilesh Patel. The follow up to their sensational 2020 EP Black Dragon Loop which garnered support from Clash, Loud and Quiet, Mixmag, Boiler Room 4:3 and more, FYI Chris return to esteemed Bristol label, Black Acre Records, a fitting home for their debut album Earth Scum. Traversing post-punk, jazz, techno, weirdo house and beyond with a psychedelic spin, across twelve tracks Earth Scum promises insight into the multiverse of FYI Chris. The duo pay homage to their strong sense of community and life as they know it in South London and the North of England, nodding to friends and family along the way. The Berlin based record label Triamb presents "Thema" Reworks, with ace reworks for the most representative tracks from Saumeth's album "Thema", which already made some waves in the techno music industry, getting the attention and reviewed by Faze Mag and many other electronic music media, and what better way to celebrate this with a 12" vinyl featuring the amazing reworks produced by Steve Parker, Marco Bruno and Mental Resonance.
Steve Parker reworked "Port", infusing some Acid vibes in the track, creating a groovy mind-washer. "Clinn" was Marco Bruno's business, the Italian producer pushed on the bpm, providing a fast and energetic Techno banger. To complete the ep we'll find Mental Resonance, who crafted two reinterpretations of "Awaking" giving his dark and percussive imprint to Saumeth's track.

Steve Rachmad, aka Sterac returns to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver imprint this May to release the 'Numbers' EP.
Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam's Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover his compositions' variety and broadness. One of them being Sterac which focuses on the deeper and more obscure end of the techno genre. The Sterac discography consists of signature cuts, spread out over genre-defining labels such as M-Plant, Tresor, Klockworks, Afterlife, Mote-Evolver, Indigo Aera, and Delsin.
His 'Numbers' EP sees Steve drop the first release of 2021 under his Sterac alias as he makes a return to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver label with four tunnelling techno tracks.
Kicking off the release is 'Ghost 37', which employs vacillating grooves, ominous synths and intricate mechanics before 'Lost Track 22' fuses sizzling 303s, dynamic drums and mammoth, alien-sounding modulations.
On the flip, 'Rey Fur 2.1' keeps the energy flowing with a high-impact clapper featuring bustling fx and expansive tones until 'Tr-15' masterfully rounds off the EP with twisting synth flutters, rattling highs and hypnotic bass grooves intricately unfolding underneath.

Toma Kami returns to Livity Sound for a third EP of provocative, experimental club gear. At the helm of his own Man Band label the French producer continues to explore a hybridised style which favours fractured beats, playful samples and occasional psychedelic flourishes.
Compared to the busier sound of previous releases, minimalism informs Toma’s approach on LIVITY053 as he sits his crunchy drums and weighty low-end in a tangibly spacious mix on ‘Amapicante’. Even within a stripped-down context, his unique approach shines through as ‘Later To The Bone’ progressively ramps up in scratched and scuffed sonic interference and ‘Mzecal’ trips over its own fragmented found-sound drum formations.

An Avrin returns to Scuffed Recordings with four new originals and a remix from Sonia Calico.
An Avrin has been a firm favourite of the UK label since his 2019 appearance on the Scuffed Presents Vol.3 compilation with the track ‘Cave People’, which saw heavy rotation from DJs like Ross From Friends and rRoxymore. Returning to Scuffed the following year with the ‘Clodhopper’ EP, the London-based producer further developed his wobbly, esoteric sound, which draws extensively from a range of electronic influences.
Since then, An Avrin’s catalogue has become a go-to for under-the-radar club heat, with a string of self-released EPs and an appearance on Bristol’s Slippery Sounds marking him out as a vital name to watch.
The ‘Parisian Pitstop’ EP is his second release on Scuffed, and sees An Avrin building on his previous work while also expanding his horizons into different tempos and styles.
The A-side opens with the one-two of the title track - which is as good a primer on An Avrin’s sound as it’s possible to have - and ‘Stumbler’, both high-impact tracks with raucous breaks bouncing off warped vocals and relentless bass.
On the B-side is ‘Plata’, which builds tension with more melodic elements, before crashing into thunderous kicks and glitchy grooves. An Avrin ups the ante on ‘Is It?’, the last of the four originals on the EP, and the highest tempo of the bunch.
Taiwan-based producer Sonia Calico rounds off the release with her remix of ‘Plata’, a rowdy rework that pits grimey bass up against intense, rolling percussion.
Early DJ support has come from Surgeon, Emerald, Naina, Ciel, and Louise Chen.
The fourth multi-artist EP from blog-turned-record label Innate takes the imprint's inherently warm and far-sighted sound into new intergalactic directions. Offering a quartet of cuts from established producers and rising stars, all inspired by dreams of cross-cosmic travel and the alluring weightlessness of deep space. 004 explores the love of stargazing electronics in much greater deapth.
The A-side is all about melodious and spacey electro with Dutch legend Aroy Dee making a rare appearance away from his acclaimed M>O>S Recordings label. "Leegte" A1 is impressively immersive, cloaking a jaunty bassline and lo-fi beats in sumptuous aural textures and glassy-eyed chords. Accompanied by Innate label regular Gilbert, "Furthest Planet" A2 is a deep roller whose lilting lead lines, shimmering electronics and tumbling acid lines are little less than life-affirming.
On side B, the sound subtly shifts towards the multi-coloured, sci-fi shimmer of techno. Newcomer Jonski, (aka Bristol electro producer Zobol) drops "Venusian Surface" B1 - a classic interstellar jam full of vivid chords, echoing synth squiggles and alluring leads that rise above a classic tech-funk bassline. Last but not least, effervescent Welshman DJ Guy (Unthank/Other World Music) slams down an energetic techno stomper in "Aphelion Orbit": boasting brilliantly breathless drum programming, illuminated by the celestial shimmer of accompanying chords. A perfect conclusion to Innate's most action-packed release to date.

Zwen makes a strong impression as they circumnavigate the stars to impart their strain of machine music. This first release on Trapid has little to no reference point, placing all the focus on the tunes contained within. "Space Zone" aptly launches this mission in a muscular fashion with a hefty kick and some strafing synth blasts, while "Etching" gets tangled up in a more tightly wound loop with a raw, deliciously early 90s finish. "Restriction" keeps things stripped back, but it's certainly still orbiting the same quadrant as the other tracks. "Trapid" switches focus by embracing a more dub techno-informed approach, and Zwen does a masterful job of capturing that vibe too.

From 1995 comes Kenny Larkin's staggering long player 'Metaphor'. Larkin's 2nd full length under his own name sees the Detroit firebrand continuing his singular approach to techno and electronic music with this set of futurist leaning jams that still stands head and shoulders above today in 2021. Packed to the brim with soul, emotion and depth 'Metaphor' is the natural successor to 'Azimuth' released only the year before, it's the manifestation of Larkins 'techno soul' agenda laid bare through the fusing motor-city minimalism, driving techno-funk and deep as the ocean ambience and melody to deliver a truly original and awakened collection of timeless tracks. As with his other LPs and projects, this record is a remarkable document and testament to how ahead of the curve Kenny Larkin was / is as a producer and creator. It's quite hard to believe these signals were beamed down to us in the midst of the 1990's. The quality and breadth on display across these discs deftly explains why these records are so coveted and cherished today and why this expanded reissue is such an exciting proposition. Marco Faraone re-imagines two Radio Slave classics for ‘The Marco Faraone Remixes’ released on Vinyl this February.
The release sees UNCAGE label founder Faraone follow his ‘True Love EP’ on Rekids with incendiaryversions of two of Matt Edwards’ most iconic cuts, ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’ and ‘Grindhouse’.
‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’, originally released on Nonplus in 2014, is turned on its head by Faraone who adds huge synth lines and fresh vocals to beefed-up drums, twisting the sparse, minimalist original production into a warehouse bomb.
On the flip ‘Grindhouse’, a track which soundtracked many a party in 2008 in part thanks to a landmark remix from Dubfire, is tweaked into an eerie stomper by the Tuscan producer who centers his version around rattling percussive delays and subtle atmospherics.
By revisiting these productions and adding his own signature flair, Marco Faraone has given a new lease of life to a set of bonafide classics.

Jonathan Kaspar has that rare, instinctive ability to germinate the seed of an idea and nurture it to its logical conclusion, both melodically and sonically. It’s why his stock has been rising so sharply in recent years with future classics already released on Kompakt and Objektivity to name but two, and he’s at it again on his debut EP for Cocoon Recordings with three distinctive tracks of sublime quality.
The first cut, Invert Drift, is also a phenomenal mixing tool. What starts off as an expectant minimal groove suddenly explodes with wild, cascading effects that hit you out of nowhere. Any DJ worth their salt will get tons of twisted pleasure orchestrating the crowd‘s synaptic meltdown with this one, but there‘s so much more going on behind the calculated mayhem. In true signature style Kaspar teases the listener, cranking up the pressure with a dark, brooding synth progression that lurks under the surface but never quite breaks free, leaving the morphing bass line, crunchy top loop and laser guided FX front and center. As it reaches its climax it’s like being caught in the crossfire of a Battlestar Galactia shoot out.
Last Romance is another master class in how to hypnotize the dance floor, this time by showering it in ecstasy. The patient, Latin-inflected build up accompanies a discordant metallic synth line that from hesitant beginnings slowly grows to dominate the track. It resonates beautifully almost creating its own language before deep, lush chords and a crystalline arp line flesh out the breakdown, making the hairs on your neck stand to attention.
Coming in at just over ten minutes, Off The Shore introduces a different aspect of Kaspar’s repertoire. With ambient, cinematic overtones and an otherworldly central motif that starts folding space in the extended breakdown, it’s a perfect early morning tonic that leads you off the beaten track, but still carries enough weight to keep the dance floor ticking over nicely.

Sam KDC presents the first Auxiliary 12" EP of 2022, entitled Shedding Skin, a varied four-track odyssey that goes far and beyond the conventions of techno and 170 bass music. The EP opens up with the ominous underworld tones of Silver Serpent. Menacing snarls of metallic synthesis set against the backdrop of frenetic hi-hats and slow pulsing heavyweight bass make this a surefire way to inject something unique into any DJ set.
False Idols then takes things a step further with its relentless percussive torrent, set against a sea of uneasy undertones that wash in and out of proceedings. Prophecy Unfurling introduces breakbeats to devastating effect, as the journey continues underground. Dystopian pulses of synths interacting with the breaks play off each other in a distinct fashion that has become a trademark of Sam's after 2019's Omen Rising LP on Horo.
Finally, Sam brings it all to a head with the uptempo frenzy of Bloodstone. It's been a while since Sam has toyed with this tempo, but Bloodstone shows just why he's revered as one of the true innovators of 170. An almost playful bouncing ring-modulated bass tone sets the scene for Sam's now trademark ominous dark palette to paint a truly captivating picture for the listener. Shedding Skin shows an artist at the top of his craft truly doing his own thing.

Iconic Norwegian producer and composer Biosphere follows up his evocative 'Angel's Flight' release with a new album set for release early in 2022. Shortwave Memories is an album inspired by the post-punk electronic music of the late 70's and early 80's, especially the productions of figures like Martin Hannett and Daniel Miller.
"The last few Biosphere albums have all been made using samples and software, but Shortwave Memories is a return to vintage analog hardware from the late 70s and early 80s. Most of these instruments do not have any presets or memory storage, so all the sounds were programmed from scratch. The idea was not so much to make music that sounds like it was written in the same period. It's more like what would happen if I had the chance to use the same instruments, and applied the same meticulous attention to detail as the producers mentioned above."
Presented as a continuous sonic journey, this stunning record unequivocally manifests a world of it's own and already feels like a timeless addition to the rest of the Biosphere catalogue.

The US-born, Norwegian-Mexican musician and producer Carmen Villain, real name Carmen Hillestad, has spent the last nine years and four albums gently unraveling song into the sound of emotional impulse. From the tilt and croon of her first two albums to the expansive warmth that flows and pulses beyond ambient in her more recent output, Hillestad's journey is artful musical deconstruction but also somehow spiritual growth.Hence new album Only Love From Now On, her fourth full-length and the culmination of a build-up that really began with the turn in sound evident from third album Both Lines Will Be Blue (2019, Smalltown Supersound) and the subsequent releases Affection In A Time Of Crisis (2020, Longform Editions) and Sketch For Winter IX: Perlita (2021, Geographic North). While the seed of her aesthetic was planted earlier, it has blossomed into something unexpected, benevolent in its composure and altogether luxuriant in its sensuality. If her themes, especially now, are wide, philosophical, and occasionally abstract, the emotional tenor of Hillestad's music is clear and purposeful. Makes sense that her key musical touchstones are dub, ambient, and cosmic jazz - flexible vehicles for tranquil wonder. While it may not contain voice or lyrics, as her two earliest records do, she describes it as, "wishing to maintain a sense of careful optimism for the future, while on the cusp of something unknown." Listening to Only Love From Now On is simultaneously comforting and alluringly strange. Partly it's the contributions of guests Arve Henriksen (trumpet, electronics) and Johanna Scheie Orellana (flutes). Partly it's the fluidity between instruments - such as clarinets - field recordings, the studio, jam, and careful composition. She calls the process a conversation with sound that occurs in her deliberate attempts to experiment with new methods, like granular synthesis, for her music-making. But mostly that strange comfort is in the peace and grateful contentment she has found via the stark recognition of her own privilege - laid bare by the pandemic. Only Love From Now On is fueled by the sense of scale in feeling small in the face of things so large, the contemplation of how the biggest impact we can have is in the people close to us, the attempt to make sure that impact is a positive one, and the choice to try to focus on love instead of fear.

Inaugurating the “Albe” series— a collection of LP’s to be released on Le Cabanon Records— Fantômes is the first album by Horla.
Fantômes is a musical isthmus, a frontier seldom travelled, a sonic corridor wherein animated bodies, sounds and dreams, instrumental and woody murmurs roam. Composed over the course of two years spent in Madagascar, the writing of this record bore witness to the insolent profusion and phantasmagorical incarnations of tropical wildlife, to strange rituals, animism and other mysterious relationships to the vegetal and its sensitive phenomena. Horla breathed in the various poetics of these space-times, circumscribed them into an empty shell, to then bring them into music as one brings a subject into painting in order to reveal its drama and imperishable nature, unburdened by anecdotes and the inertia of daily life. Thus, of these worlds of passage, of cycle and permeability, the ambiguities of rhythm and time, of harmony and tone reveal themselves. Permeated by vast geographical wanderings, the sonic colours evoked in this album never truly take root in one particular place, except perhaps in the ever subtle evocation of a nature of sounds, not without links to the sounds of Nature. These colours arise from the fusion of synthetic and instrumental timbres, with physically modelled synthesis sometimes growing indistinguishable from microphonic recordings of acoustic instruments, who in their turn resemble certain sounds of more traditional forms of synthesis (FM, granular). These resonant bodies interact and entwine, dwindle and steal away amidst relative temporalities, wherein the rhythmic grids, akin to plants, grow entangled. Of these sonic idealities there remains an anchor in concreteness that awakens the mnemonic power of hearing, materialised by outdoor sound recordings: spaces where bamboos creak in the wind, where wet stones swept up by the sea and the arid echo of the ryad appear on the horizon. It is by searching for templates amidst the jungle’s polymorphous and yet unified spectacle that the composer makes use of stochastic strategies in order to characterise, direct, variate and develop his materials (rhythms, scales, envelopes) in the pre-compositional phase. These musical objects are then refined by means of a meticulous process of editing and writing, creating a tension between determinism and chance akin to the complex order incomprehensible to mankind, who when faced with the immense heterogeneity of a tropical jungle, calls it chaos. With Fantômes, Horla reveals a poetic of spaces moved by their dependence upon a multiplicity of folds and entanglements, inviting the listener to endlessly renew their way of listening; from the minute to the global, from noise to sound, from the separation of timbres to their fusion. Within this space and it’s temporal flow, we bear witness to the birth of a mythifying music from an unseizable and yet familiar elsewhere.

Lion's Drums full length exists as en exploration in multiple dimensions. First by challenging the notion of the album format by presenting a body of work that lies snuggly between remixes, edits and original works and secondly as a means to delve into the transcendent potential of the drum. The album sets the tone by putting these two concepts fully on display with its hypnotic chant, swaying one into ease over the first two songs. In orderly cue folding and unfolding, meditatively through, melodies as muddied pastelle whispers cast over the measured language of the drum. Breaking away from the musing themes of the opening songs we find an ecstatic ritual in "Tanz der Korperlinge" and "Journey to Middle Earth", two distinct varieties but both of the same perennial species. Inky ether seeps back in through the second half of the album with a peak of frenzied tumbling toms and incongruous textures hovering above in the Manos Tsangaris' collaboration "Crying Tafel" and his re-imagining of Tullio De Piscopo's unhinged drum excursion "Fastness". The closing exemplifies the edit/remix/original ethos proposed for this work with Lions Drums drawing from tapes and original material of electronic pioneers Suzanne Ciani and Roberto Musci. Drawing from unreleased music and song sketches by the original artists as well as field recordings from travels & studio sessions made by Roberto Musci & Manos Tsangaris in the 80's and early 90's he constructs a side winding journey through playful textures and ethereal moods.
Ten years after the transcendent syncopated debut ‘Progress Chance’, Ricardo Donoso returns with a pulsing retrospect of rhythmic determination and wide-eyed wonder with ‘Progress Trap’, his new album for Denovali. As is customary with Donoso, the moods on these electronic miniatures vary from piece to piece; some somber, brooding, and laden with mystery, others starry-eyed, tinged with sci-fi, and hungry for adventure.
Connections are finally forged between Donoso’s early hardware synthesizer arpeggiation experiments, his darker and more abstract work with an emphasis on synthetic textures, pulsation, and sound design and the more recent extreme full throttle electronic mayhem and prog inspired technical opuses found in the Calibrate/Re_Calibrate/Content era.
Progress Trap is as harmonious as its predecessor allowing dissonance to subtly seep in, providing mere hints at the undercurrent of threat hidden beneath the music's smooth surface. If ‘Progress Chance’ was naive and innocent, ‘Progress Trap’ is mature and calculated. Perhaps some of the optimism has extinguished, but there is a stalking exhilaration which threads through the entire album, taking on merely different shades between sides – as with most of Donoso’s work something verging on a deep longing always lingers heavily as an aftertaste. There's a lot to digest on Progress Trap, as with Donoso’s entire canon, but as always, the effort is repaid.

Tred’s bio is a simple one. It reads “high power, deep emotion”, and that about sums up the Tred aesthetic. The Aussie born, Germany based producer has been behind some of contemporary hard dance’s most exciting anthems, and follows up a release on 1Ø Pills Mate with this epic four-tracker for Lobster Theremin.
Capturing all the frantic energy of a Tred set, I’m Not Like Other PPL gets underway with the title track - a punishing cut of stripped back, high velocity techno. Old horror film vocal samples induce an old school, psychedelic experience from within as the track builds and builds towards its imminent climax.
‘Dead Droid’ maintains a spooky feel throughout, it’s off-key atmospherics and marching rhythm channeling that deep emotion that Tred does so well, before ‘Secrets’ strays down a more melodic route with its trancey stabs and hands-in-the-hair energy, unting the worlds of hard and soft.
‘Don’t Need A Thing’ ventures further into this trance-world, with an albeit heavier cut than its predecessor. This is in-your-face hardcore trance - not for the faint hearted, for those that wish to totally immerse themselves in complete rave escapism.
Rounding off the release is a digital only track ‘All Messed Up’, which halts the high-speed onslaught with an emotionally-stirring ambient piece designed to float, captivate and inspire.

"Samara" takes over with a haunting acid line and eerie pads, venturing deeper into the unknown. Atmospheric fog intertwines between the rosy foliage of the Japanese maples; a cool breeze propels the ripened samara, helicoptering from their stems.
"Crimson Breath" relieves the tension with a chilled out and dubby trip. We're taken bankside of a babbling brook, sheltered by an enclosing leafy canopy; comforted in a safe haven.

After a quarter century of nearly nonstop activity, dystopian Detroit synth-punk institution ADULT. have perfected a strain of stylistic cohesion in the album format, "but for this we wanted something that's falling apart." Becoming Undone, the 9th official full-length by cofounders Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller, explicitly succeeds in this aim, simultaneously rejecting and reflecting the planetary discord that inspired it. Begun in the latter half of 2020 against a backdrop of unprecedented flux and seismic isolation, the duo kickstarted their muse by sourcing fresh additions to the rig: a vocal loop pedal for Kuperus and Roland percussion pads for Miller. Reconnecting with legacy influences like the politicized industrial percussion of Test Department and the queasy miscreant synthetics of TG's 20 Jazz Funk Greats sparked a series of fruitfully frenetic sessions, centered on themes of impermanence and dissonance. Miller's rationale is blunt: "We weren't interested in melody or harmony since we didn't see the world having that." From the tense technoid blitz of "Undoing / Undone" to the twitchy EBM of "Fools (We Are_)" and "I Am Nothing," the sides bristle with strident acidic revolt and black leather sequential circuits, unhinged and unforgiving. Elsewhere, slower tempos of purgatorial unraveling ("Normative Sludge," "She's Nice Looking") showcase a breadth of vocal FX, Kuperus sounding alternately indignant and possessed, decrying the crimes, fears, and failings of a deluded world. Throughout, the band's chemistry crackles with revulsion and strobe-lit dissent, equal parts exorcism and denunciation. "Humans have always been pretty terrible," Kuperus explains. "But every year the compromises of culture just accelerate." Becoming Undone is also freighted with a more personal pain, as Kuperus' father passed away during the height of the pandemic, just before the album took root. As his hospice caretakers, she and Miller faced the banality of finality, surrounded by objects drained of meaning, "the joy of having a body, but also the drudgery of having one." The record's bewitching closing track, "Teeth Out Pt. II" - which happens to be the first ADULT. song in the group's history without drums - speaks to this sense of doomed corporeal mass and the looming, lightless unknown that binds us all. A seasick haze swells and subsides in slow, low waves, flickering with ring modulation, above which Kuperus sings in a dazed, brooding, transcendent state, as if having finally glimpsed beyond the pale: "Some day / some day I will be silent and free / of this relentless gravity."

After making his debut on the label in 2014, Berlin based Brit BNJMN returns to Delsin to release his latest artist album, Hypnagogia. This album comes after years of experimenting but is the first time since his Black Square album on Rush Hour in 2011 that the artist has felt he has finished a cohesive body of work. Hypnagogia counts ten tracks of atmospheric techno that ranges from deeply comforting to turbulent and edgy. There are moments of beautiful ambient reflection on tracks like 'Glowed' and 'Over White Peaks', plenty of the unique sense of melody BNJMN is known for as well as hypnotic tracks that trap you in a trance. Tracks like 'Theta Wave' show BNJMN is always conjuring up unique patterns and beguiling textures, while 'Hypnagogia Pt 2' is built on the sort of drum programming that will always lock in the floor.

“Rituals”, Flore’s second album is the map of a new continent and worrisome dark lands inhabited by a primal energy. 10 music pieces, 10 clues shaping a musical territory where nothing is given, where everything has to be conquered. From “Aether” to “You were here”, “Rituals” explores multiple facets of an electronic music crafted with meticulosity. It seems here that all of Flore’s path to this second album, every influence, every idea, every reference is digested, understood, reinterpreted and feeds into new shapes, layers of textures, indented rhythmics and menacing bass lines.
An imaginary African continent presides to this exploration, cleansed of clichés and stereotypes, more present in atmospheres than drums. The narration of Rituals is a tortuous promenade starting with “Aether” a mid-tempo introduction to the journey, stumbling on “Coded Language” and its obsessive enigma dressed in lace-like beats, to “Sigui So”, named after the Dogon ritual commemorating Earth regeneration, unfolding its hypnotic percussions evoking an ancient gearing. “Rituals” an uncomfortable and hazy musing and its counterpart “Psykhé part 3” are like each side of the same intoxicated dream. On to “Numen” the almost martial injunction to the dancefloor, “A thousand years”, the electro gem sewn into an insane bass, “Congos” the majestic invitation to a collective exultation rite. It is the nostalgic and atmospheric poetry of “You were here” which closes down this exploration, like a regret.
“Rituals” is a very sharp piece of work by Flore who delivers the result of 20 years of work, experiment, encounters and curiosity, all knitted together in these 10 pieces of music. This album is the outcome of 5 years of work launched with the eponym audio/visual live performance and prolongated by 3 EP’s released on POLAAR. “Rituals”, even if dark in its essence, transpires a savage energy, and open doors to new musical landscapes constantly oscillating between interrupted daydreaming and furious dances. Altogether, “Rituals” draws the portrait of a threatened universe healing in collective sarabands.

Foul Play is definitely a suitable title for this EP as Kessler has brought the big guns to the tea party for this one. Really getting to the heart of what Holding Hands is all about I love how straight up in the face these bangers are.
Expect a lot of gun fingers and shouts of “this one’s a stinky wiiiiiiinky” when these get dropped in the club. That’s probably the best way of describing the vibe here...

For their milestone 10th release on their main label series Haven is honoured to be working with celebrated Swedish experimentalist Peder Mannerfelt with a collection of energetic and diverse UK-influenced stompers.
The EP kicks off with "Enter Reoccurring Disparity" on the A1. Fierce synth bleeps, classic drum breaks and creative percussion interplay around the pounding kick in this hectic club banger. Following on the A2 "And That Happened" takes the record in to moody broken beat territory, utilising murky drones and experimental textures alongside wild, morphing drum work in a sludgy mutant roller.
The flip-side launches with "Stockholm Shuffle" on the B1 with grimy bass pulses, half-time snares, and ominous atmospheres in the ideal half-way point between dubstep and 4-4 techno. The EP closes with a driving remix from yung Haven main-stay Tommy Holohan. Rolling drum rhythms, vocal chants and nimble synth work propel the track towards its euphoric breakdown and square-bass melody in another impressive track from Ireland's finest up-and-comer.

The third release on U-TRAX in 1993 was also a third debut, this time by Natasja Hagemeier and Jeroen Brandjes. Early in their career, they used several artist names, but became most commonly known as The Connection Machine. With their debut mini-album The Dream Tec Album they more or less described their style: dreamy techno. It became an instant Dutch techno classic and U-TRAX is proud and delighted to offer a fully remastered re-release, including three never before released bonus tracks (one of which is digital-only).
Natasja and Jeroen resided in Utrecht back in the 90s. In 1991 they assembled all their ideas and recorded the track "24 Hours" with DJ Paradize. Soon after this experience, they started to buy their own gear, all strictly MIDI (which wasn't too obvious in those days). In their early recording years, they had three producer-names (Syndrome, The Connection Machine and Bitch&Bites), that were all collected under the The Utroid Machine Missions umbrella, which was used for their debut on U-TRAX.
All tracks on The Dream Tec Album are The Connection Machine's earliest works, from the 1991/1992 years.
"An Overflow of the Mind" is a beautiful, dreamy track with almost divine sounds and strange voice-samples that serves perfectly as an introduction to their entire repertoire.
Their first production was "24 Hours", and what a brilliant one it is! A well-known jazz-musician talks about a "24 hour party going on", on top of a sinister and trancey rug, woven of sampled sounds from pioneers in electronic music and nailed down to the floor with a deep pounding bassdrum. At the time they made this track, 141 bpm was unbelievably fast...
"Evilish Cosmos" is all about a very sad and personal emotion, so everything we say about it will be absolutely wrong. Just listen to the meandering piano line, distorted voice samples - and feel it.
The first bonus track on this release is "Recognized Pain", which was intended to be part of the original The Dream Tec Album. It had appeared on the Phuture Classical Section C cassette in 1993, on the famous Drome Tapes label that formed the roots of U-TRAX. It truly is an amazing track: pure sonic terror with haunting rhythms, psychedelic synth lines and shards of voice samples that make the listener feel slightly uncomfortable.
"X_Manray" is many electronic music lover's favorite track. It is sooo deep that it is hard not to get hypnotized by it. Warm strings are coupled with deep beats that show up and disappear every now and then. Could serve perfectly to start off any DJ's set, as long as she or he has the guts.
Though "Braindrain" is probably the most danceable track on this album, it is carefully designed to tease the listener. Everything in this track drops in too late and every tone, melody or loop last exactly a few bars too long. Designed as a DJ-teaser and so it is.
The second bonus track, "Cafe d'Anvers", is another previously unreleased work, of which unfortunately no master recording was saved. All that is left, as far as we know, was an old VHS Hifi tape from the U-TRAX Archives. And that is where this bonus track was taken from. Mastering engineer Thee J Johanz managed to restore the quality of the recording somewhat, while at the same time maintaining its dark, clubby sound, a tribute to the famous club of the track's name in Antwerp, Belgium.
"Dream Affected Dream" is one of the most recent productions on this album. It was recorded with CNN playing live on top of it. At this exact moment, CNN was having an interview with David Koresh, the leader of the infamous Branch Davidians sect from Waco, Texas, while they were under siege by an armed police force. Natasja and Jeroen were just ready to record Dream Affected Dream, and spontaneously decided to mix in the audio from CNN. Not very long after that, the cult members set fire to themselves. A very strange and oddly funky track, that also serves as a time-document.
The final track is another bonus track. Like Cafe d'Anvers, "Voight-Kampff" is taken from on old U-TRAX VHS Hifi tape and masterfully mastered into a lovely relaxed dreamtech piece. Very suitable to start the Sunday after a long night of clubbing. This track is available for free to buyers of the complete digital album only.

Italian master, London based Stefano Ritteri takes centre stage for the latest edition of Shir Khan presents Black Jukebox — number 32 in this illustrious series. This one is a chiefly electro-flavoured affair, joining the dots between the genre’s past, present and future across four slick tracks — with a dash of garage at the end.
‘Slow Tripping’ is a homage to the charismatic boogie sound of the early ‘80s, resplendent with beautiful melancholic melody and a wistful air. As the name suggests, the lazy beat perfectly compliments the array of dreamy sounds, and there’s a definite nod to French disco/electro/hip-hop fusions of days gone by.
‘Donna’ is a collab with Mytron (Bordello A Parigi, Multi Culti)which continues the chuggy theme, its gently swaying synth arpeggios and unhurried beat recalling some of Soulwax’s more pared back material. Its simple arrangement is kept engrossing with synth automation and subtle atmospheric touches.
‘Brutesque’ strips things back to an almost minimalist approach, where twanging, monotone sounds slowly morph over a taut backbeat and a variety of bleeps and blips. With its spoken word sounds and Krautrock-ish mixture of sounds, it recalls the work of Public Service Broadcasting.
‘Robot Love’ takes its cues from the sweeter side of 2-step garage, bubbled down to a more laconic pace. Cute melodic refrains and big reverbs adorn the stuttering rhythm to make for a colourful, atmospheric, reflective track.

After Ed Davenport's 'Festnetz EP' we're happy to welcome the next electronic music virtuoso on the label: Luca Ballerini. We're in contact with Luca since a while, even before we launched Siamese to discuss a possible record with him. Now almost two years later we're excited to finally reveal the full EP!
As all of Luca's Records there is a distinctive balance between dancefloor and a hypnotic almost dreamy approach to electronic music.
Opening up is 'Preludio (Origine)', leading into the record with lush electronica sounds. This one has been the last missing piece for us to finalize this record yet it comes first.

OHM Series continues to round up some of the best and the brightest within the dub techno scene.
Side A begins with Federsen, a renowned American dub techno producer. He delivers a fragile deep techno journey with hazy dub influence, which is both meditative and intriguing. Following up is the Dutch techno producer extraordinaire Roger Gerressen with his signature raw and stripped hypnotic dub techno.
The flipside begins with grad_u, label owner at Greyscale/Redscale Records. His contribution is atmosphering, yet thumping at the same time. It‘s a dub techno experience, reminiscing of Basic Channel & Chain Reaction. Merv, the well-established Danish techno duo, brings the release through the finishing line with a powerful homage to Detroit techno. It‘s an enigmatic and energy-driven voyage – solidifying the label‘s second offering. OHM Series is the brainchild of the establised Copenhagen-based techno artist OHM (Bjarnar Jónsson) and was founded in 2021.

All set to push the dance floor forward Amelie Lens returns to drop her second solo release on LENSKE following 2018's 'Basiel' EP. True to her reliable productions of pumping kicks, nasty acid lines and spiralling groove dynamics, energetic 4/4 winds blow fiercely across the four cuts of 'Little Robot', offering a much compelling arsenal of powerhouse techno to top the summer off in the most epic way.
First in line, the hard-hitting 'Helium' blurs the dancer's mind through a haze of understated sub-bass moves and sonar bleeps. Carried through by Amelie's signature vocals, 'Man Over Machine' continues down the hypnotic path with unrelenting efficacy, before the stadium-sized steamroller 'Little Robot' takes us to a raving climax. Last but not least, the aptly named 'Storm' raises the BPMs to ensure maximal impact until the very final moments. Just do not go by its gentle name, 'Little Robot' packs monster fire within.
