'IDMEMO' would not pretend to be a representative compendium of 90’s-00’s Intelligent Dance Music. It was not Vladimir Ivkovic & Ivan Smagghe’s point when they decided on the project. It is a very personal snapshot of a moment in time, when both of them were working in record shops, when they were listening to indie and electronic music. One can not stress enough the importance of this crossing of roads, pop kids getting through to the dancefloor via Aphex Twin and nerdy house heads dissolving their four to the floor into the futuristic world of Warp compilations.

The compilation unfolds in the loosest, the best way to make some kind of sense. There are some classics (Black Dog’s lysergic 'Psyl-Cosin'), there are some rarities (that Zugzwang track), some tested late night floor melters (Reload remixing Slowdive) and some personal outlandish choices that strangely take their place (Spiritualized’s 'Anyway That You want Me-remix 3').

All in all, This is an anti-archive, a choice of tracks primarily lead by emotion, more pads than glitches,”intelligent” music depraved by that last half-pill at 6am rather than high-brow destructurations, Ivkovic & Smagghe hitting, as ever, at their own margins.

The VA series is facing it's 3th landmark with 12 tracks featured on Essential Memories EP Part III. A return trip for some, a debut for others, keeping the electronic banner alive with cuts destined to nightlife.

Purely by coincidence, the 2019 Horo schedule commences in the same way as 2018 - with a release from Parisian artist Von Grall. Following up his debut LP 'Infinitum' for the label, the Three Waves EP probes new depths in shimmering, rhythmic obscuration.

Seemingly constructed under a thick sheet of fog, Three Waves is immersive Techno with taut, granular waves winding through it's construction, adding emotive touches sparingly, but with precision potency.

Few authentic Electro producers from the UK can wear the badge 'legend' with the same level of justification as Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie. Active since the late 80s, Phil has been peddling his own take on Electro almost constantly, either as a solo artist or as part of numerous collabs with the likes of Dynamix II, Keith Tenniswood (Radioactiveman) and Si Brown (Dexorcist). DJ, remixer, live act, and the man behind the killer Battle Trax label, there is nothing this Junkie hasn't done.

With essential releases on labels such DMX Krew's Breakin Records, Andrea Parker's Touchin' Bass, and Billy Nasty's Elektrix; the Bass Junkie sound spans the old school beats and vibes of the Electro genre's origins, to the borderline industrial. From funky to ferocious, Bass Junkie's discography is a must have for anyone claiming passion for the genre - influential, individual, and infectious with every beat.

His 'Low Frequency Fugitive' EP is a welcome return for his Bass Junkie project, after several years working primarily on collabs. The EP brings four new tracks that maintain the Bass Junkie sound that brought him such success and notoriety in the first place, with a healthy dose of evolution too.

This is one Fugitive everyone should try and track down...

Lost Trax pops up at Delsin once more. It's their second EP with new material on Delsin after their Surface Treated EP from 2019. On Mind Over Matter, Lost Trax steps in the world of old school pre-nineties jackin' Chigaco and Detroit sounds. Four tracks filled with razor sharp 303s, bubbling FM-basses, jacking drums and offworldy emotive melodies, making this an excellent pack for the late nights.

Roma Zuckerman is in fact the trippiest artist on the label and he is back with a new solo release 'stage of loyalty'. Nobody ever knows what is on his mind when recording his next 13 minute long composition at home in Krasnoyarsk but his signature slow mo murkiness and Roma-like mental groove are unmistakable. 'Stage of loyalty' does just that but also contains minimalist techno tracks and a wonderful italo-esque sounding anthem ,,I like you" that could easily soundtrack a movie where everything is going to be just alright! For Room Trax's 14th installment none other than Setoac Mass, VSK, Kaiser and Kwartz gather up to set the masses into motion. Functional but with a great understanding of aesthetics "Isotopic Signature" creates a propelling symbiosis of four thoroughly crafted, timeless gems dedicated to dark and sweaty dancefloors. Driving, impressive, and energetic it's keeping up tension from end to end and reflects the very core of modern techno while being a solid tribute to the origins of the scene.

Coming in deep and with heavy groove Setaoc Mass' "Contemporary Decline" quickly raises tension with exceptionally crafted percussion elements. As a unique tool for the long nights to come and paired with its distinctive atmosphere, it transports a sophisticated balance between modern bassline-driven techno and the typically clean and classic Setaoc Mass manner.

With "Luna" VSK once again proves his profound devotion to the darker realms of techno. Dark, impressive, and embedded in mesmerizing textures it catches the audience with its pounding pressure dissolving into a mind-bending tapestry of sound. Full of interesting details and driving rhythms it lets you dive into otherworldly soundscapes.

Reminiscent of the early days of techno the characteristic and bouncy vibe of "Asereth" paves the way for another bassline-driven ride for the listener - fast and energetic all the way through. One thing's for sure, once started Kaiser's latest opus just seems to be unstoppable carrying everyone along.

As an exquisite wrap-up for the EP "Red Flame" leads with a quirky and hypnotically sequenced melody seamlessly uniting with galloping drums and percussions to form a trippy peak-time weapon. Stylistically confident as always Kwartz once again delivers pure heat and a perfect complement to "Isotopic Signature".

Italian boss Wrong Assessment makes his Dynamic Reflection appearance with this 4-track EP including a Shifted remix of the title track.

You can hear the years of experience is in this well-produced and strongly written EP. The balance between the rolling drums and the uplifting percussion are capable of bringing listeners into a certain state of mind. The warm and melodic synths fit perfectly into many layers of each track, while Shifted gives it a more dark approach on remix duties.

Wrong Assessment manages to combine the label's vision and sound authentic and refreshing at the same time, causing him to stand out with this 40th EP on Dynamic Reflection.

For the fifth release, Micro Orbit presents a classy EP from Zenk accompanied by an exquisite remix from VincentIulian.

Belgium's sweethearts Joyhauser are back on Terminal M with another great 3 track ep! Lamana's pulsating acidline plus a warm melodie with an array of layers are definitely working well on the dancefloor! Vesperi impresses with a dark atmosphere which is perfect for the more soulful moments ! Park Hye Jin hat gestern ihr mit Spannung erwartetes Debütalbum, „Before I Die“, angekündigt, das am 10. September 2021 bei Ninja Tune erscheint. Das Album - komplett von der in Südkorea geborenen und nun in L.A. lebenden Produzentin, Rapperin, Sängerin und DJ geschrieben, produziert und performt - folgt auf die Veröffentlichung ihrer sehr erfolgreichen EP, „How Can I“ vom letzten Jahr, sowie auf eine Reihe von Kollaborationen mit Künstler*innen wie Clams Casino & Take A Daytrip („Y DON'T U“), Blood Orange („CALL ME“ Freestyle) und Nosaj Thing („CLOUDS“), sowie auf den Remix von Galcher Lustwerk für „Can You“.

Seit gestern Abend ist die Leadsingle und der Album-Opener, „Let’s Sing Let's Dance“ zu hören, ein wehmütiger Dance-Track, der Hye Jins mantraartigen Gesang über Klavierakkorde und wummernden Bässen platziert. Steve Summers delivers his long anticipated debut double lp for L.I.E.S. Stepping up with 13 tracks, Summers goes across the board exploring all ends of the long lineage of Chicago House music. As a member of Mutant Beat Dance with Traxx and Beau Wanzer or under his Rhythm Based Lovers alias Summers has always managed to tread the line between classic Chicago styles and modern psychedelic Jakbeat floor beaters.

On the aptly titled "Generation Loss" we get the the full spectrum; from the old school 80s acid of "Who Knows" to the long form lysergic blackhole of "Boxed In" or the dx funk of "Unknown Origin" Summers cements his signature style which he has refined over years throughout this LP.

It’s more of the same for Baldo’s Physical Education, as the Spanish label heads back to the year 2000 for their next release.

The remix bears all the hallmarks of both producers, who between them have a number of Beatport hits and have crafted everything from the darkest drums to the most emotional synths to great effect.

Hypnus Records celebrates the end of their first lunar century by releasing the debut album of Birds ov Paradise.

Early support from Brando Lupi, Svreca, Samuli Kemppi, Eric Cloutier, Joel Mull and TM404, to name a few.

Bochum Welt's 2019 LP 'Seafire' and its accompanying remix album are two of the Central Processing Unit label's most beloved releases. However, links between the two parties run far deeper than just those records.

You see, the tracks that Gianluigi Di Costanzo cut as Bochum Welt in the 1990s and 2000s are in the very DNA of the celebrated Sheffield imprint. Bochum Welt's drops on labels like Rephlex made for some of the most celebrated electronic music releases of the era and went on to influence producers the world over - including many of those who have turned up on CPU since it launched in 2012.

As such, it makes sense that two of the most crucial EPs from Bochum Welt's first wave are now being given new life by CPU. 'Desktop Robotics' and 'Feelings On A Screen' initially emerged in 1997 via Aphex Twin's Rephlex imprint. Now, Di Costanzo has curated this special CPU release to celebrate both of those EPs making it to 25. This is a reissue with a twist, though. While 'Desktop Robotics / Feelings On A Screen' features many crucial cuts from the original pressings, the record also serves up other gems gathered from Bochum Welt's original master tapes - all of which have never previously been released on vinyl.

The 'Desktop Robotics' cuts which make for the record's first half are dreamy, impressionistic things. On this quartet, Bochum Welt plays painterly synth work off of idiosyncratic drum programming to illuminating effect. The opening title-track, for instance, blooms from a clattering, distorted beat into an icily beguiling electronic soundscape, a vibe which carries through to following number 'HMT (202 Mix)'.

Things become more weightless on 'Leafs Brought By The Wind', a potent vignette where you can almost see the leaves falling amidst its reverb-drenched haze. We then get ethereal 'Marylebone (Demo Version)'. Anyone who's heard the iteration of 'Marylebone' which appeared on Bochum Welt's 2017 LP 'April' will be pleasantly surprised by this alternate mix. Here the track pulls away from pretty post-minimalist piano composition to widescreen ambience - it's so warm and intimate that it feels like peeking behind a curtain to observe an artist at work.

Things ramp up a notch with the tracks taken from in and around 'Feelings On A Screen'. The title cut kicks off the record's second half in limber fashion, its nimble percussion programming dancing around a pulsing bassline. Like A Tim's mix of 'Greenwich' is still as much of a party-starter as it was on the original 'Feelings On A Screen' release, with the Djax-Up-Beats veteran setting buoyant rhythm work against a playful, eccentric lead-line.

Between these tunes we are treated to one of the gems of the Bochum Welt discography. In 2007, Di Costanzo split an EP with Heinrich Mueller, an artist best known as Drexciya's Gerald Donald. That record featured Mueller's 'Z Version' of Bochum Welt's 'Saint', and the track's appearance here, with machine gun bass burbling alongside strange textures, joins the dots between Di Constanzo's style and the pulsating machine-funk that Donald helped popularise. Things close out with 'North', a frostily beautiful ambience which makes for a fitting bookend to this album when taken alongside 'Desktop Robotics'.

This 25th anniversary re-release of Bochum Welt's 'Desktop Robotics' and 'Feelings On A Screen' EPs reminds us that, while time may have passed, the appeal of Bochum Welt's electronic music remains as strong as ever.

DSP returns with a deep & contemplative split EP from Dublin’s Cignol & Bristol’s Gilbert. ‘Vision System’ boasts 4 machine-made, melodic electro tracks to tug on your heart strings.

The record opens with ‘Events Unknowable’ an eerie example of Cignol’s distinct sound. Full of broken rhythms, swinging percussion, ice cold arpeggios, LFO warped pads and an acid line to remember.

Electro doesn’t get much deeper than ‘Multicellular’. A beautifully sorrowful sonic statement coated in icey synth elements and nostalgia. Sophisticated simplicity at its finest.

Gilbert takes us in a slightly more utopic direction on the flip side. Starting with the musical insight of ‘Harmony In Space’. A Dream laced vision for the future full of smooth synthesis, crisp basslines and pumping percussion.

The release comes to a heartfelt conclusion with ‘Eleni’. Full of playful acid lines and expressive sonic elements. A loved up, euphoric masterpiece named after and dedicated to Gilbert’s daughter.

Following his previous excursion Patterns EP, Colyn returns to Afterlife with more interplanetary sonics.

Proving that patience doesn't necessarily forego energy, Dino Sabatini arrives on Delsin's Mantis series with a charged, imposing statement of meditative techno. Sabatini has been at the forefront of the deep techno scene since the mid 00s, cultivating a sound with his own Outis Music which acknowledges the structures of club music while reaching beyond obvious drama and brute force, offering something more subliminal instead. On Mantis 06, Sabatini blurs the lines between organic and electronic percussion as he doubles down on steadfast rhythms executed with delicacy and impact in equal measure.

In hindsight, the pairing of Chris Madak and Donato Dozzy was inevitable from the moment when the two connected on Mount Naeba, Japan at the storied party Labyrinth last fall. Both artists have worked to craft singular visions unlike anything else happening in electronic music today, yet despite each producer's unmistakable indivuality there is a deeper reservoir of shared sensibility between them which makes "Donato Dozzy Plays Bee Mask" feel like a logical and necessary event.
2012 saw the release of Madak's monumental "When We Were Eating Unripe Pears" album along with the astounding "Vaporware" 12" for Room 40, the title track of which opened Bee Mask's Labyrinth performance to memorable effect. Dozzy had an equally massive year thanks the release of the acclaimed "Voices From the Lake" album with Neel, which set the bar for intricate, subtle, and forward-thinking contemporary techno at a new high. Both artists have pushed the respective boundaries of their work to arrive at the point of this crucial and welcome overlap: a double album of material from the "Vaporware" sessions, re-imagined as only Dozzy could do it.
Initially commissioned for a single remix, Dozzy found so much possibility in the source material that he turned in over an hour of material, making a standalone release the only reasonable course of action. The results are absolutely divine, a suite of seven pieces of time-stopping bliss in which the structure and melodies of "Vaporware" glitter through the prism of Dozzy's singular production style. The meeting of these powerful minds provides evidence of an unparalleled organic chemistry. When listening to these works we hear the worlds of Bee Mask and Donato Dozzy bleed into one another, creating a new sonic entity with a life of its own — one which with any luck will not end at this release.

James Shinra's whirlwind year is rounded off with a some final words via Craigie Knowes. Darkroom EP features his signature style of Techno and Electro across 4 varied cuts. From Aphex-style chords to choppy breaks, emotional rises and gritty kicks and acid - it's got it all. A final chapter of a busy year for both artist and label, with a fairly sinister, wintery, feel.

Next to suit up is Leeds based talent, Krotone. His distinct sound is well suited to The Deep, and he resurfaces with two dancefloor depth charges. Too dangerous for any server to handle, these cuts are brought to you exclusively on wax.

This classic Len Lewis record is just as relevant today as it was when it originally came out over 20 years ago. It is his first release and it surely has his name written all over it, delivering an early version of his signature groove. Both cuts stand out as instant classic tech house tracks, making it difficult to choose which one to play out.

It’s now being reissued on hot new label Physical Education run by Baldo, making it the label’s second release.

Paul Wise aka Placid is the driving force behind ‘We’re Going Deep’ – a radio show, online community and record label born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythms, alongside an obsession for collecting records since 1988.

During 2021, it’s safe to say that he’s certainly shown no signs of letting up. Known to many in underground House and Techno circles, Paul has spent the last few decades moving heads and feet at select venues, parties and festivals across the UK as well as further afield. His mission is all about sharing and releasing new music: for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones. His reputation for serving up the best in new Acid, Electro, Techno, Deep House alongside the odd slice of Downtempo really does precede him.

Readying the 2nd WGD “Solo Series” edition to compliment the label’s growing catalogue – he’s called on the talents of emotive Electro producer Gennadiy Manzhos, better known as Low Tape, with impressive results. Offering up four tracks of sumptuous sounding machine led grooves, there really is something quite magical about Manzhos’ work that sets his sound apart from so many.

A master of understatement and muted grooves, this latest set of works are no exception. From the opening expanse of ‘Analog Electro’, metronomic snares give way to washes of delay soaked melody that subtly build and weave delight as simple combination of bass notes roll. Coupled with the pensive mood and cyclical melody of ‘Romancelectro’, we dive deeper into the fold as twinkling piano and strings unfurl: conjuring something ever so slightly in the shade of Select Ambient Works, a sheer slice of bliss.
Hitting the flip, the snappy percussion and perfectly restrained 303 of ‘Arctic Orbital Station’ bring to attention Manzhos’ability to hold everything back as he introduces additional layers of texture without overloading the senses. Delsin turns to this classic from 1992 EP by Random XS. Originally released by Saskia Sleger's legendary Djax-Up Beats-label. This re-release features the original a-side - a hypnotic vocal acid anthem that has become an absolute classic of the genre - remastered and re-cut, meaning that the infamous gap in the original is no longer there. The b-side has two new remixes from Lost Trax and Delta Funktionen resulting in futuristic, electro tinged, twisted versions with crashing hits and famously busy basslines bringing real warehouse energy.

RDS plumbs the depths of analogue texture on his Kalahari debut proper. Following a guest appearance on Eversines’ ‘Plooi’ EP, the Amsterdam artist returns to explore the more expansive integers of his hi-tech sound across four deftly crafted tracks.It's exactly the sort of enveloping, sophisticated material we’ve come to expect from a De Lichting member.

Straight deep space manoeuvres on the opener. Setting billowing widescreen pads against solid, tight groove, ‘2312’ feels as if it’s escaping the eye of some turbulent solar event. Then, landing with a sensitivity absent from the harsh climes of its predecessor, ‘BBsuite’ leaps from translunar to tenderness with dappled keys and lithe breakbeat intricacy. Saying that, there’s still something undeniably explorative and sc-fi in its mood, almost reminiscent of Orbital or Future Sound of London.

There’s more refined deepness on the flip, starting with ‘Silky’s supple, slinky flex. Forlorn, exquisitely widescreen ambient techno, it treads between the warm optimism of early Detroit modes and a certain somber melancholia. And finally, ‘Autechrein’ finds RDS smudging his palette on a dusty, downtempo overhaul of the after-hours formula.

Illict vinyl only action from the Notts midfield General ROTR. Tackling some of the finest musical minds by way of Donegal, Liverpool & Italy with a rather sick original composition added in for good measure. The first half action is kicked off by the rollicking electro-acid house of Rave Cage. Heralding a cease and desist ROTR then takes a trip down memory lane with tools for the more adventourous wedding DJs. Edit-ed the Roy way, dancefloor ready he gives the drummer some for the Clannad chanteuse's 80's smash hit Orinoco Flow, adds some acid menace to the Frankie's Scouse street urchins - calm down, Roy says Relax! - And rounds it out with a doff of the stetson to the great Morricone: You See In This World There's Two Kinds Of People - Those With Loaded Guns, And Those Who Dig Roy. Dig?

The seventh release on the label comes from emerging live act duo, Solar Sound System. Opener ‘K7’ is a nod to electro sounds of the past, clean drums, with bleeps and beeps you would expect from the early 90’s era. Nemo Vachez drops the original on its head with his ‘Transcendental Dance Mix’, as expected obscure movements from the Rakya affiliate, taking you down a darker path than the original. Rounding off the A side is CD-R, peak time off the bat bass lines with an acid spring in its step.

The pair split up for the B side and provide a solo turn out each, Jimmy Batt steps up first with ‘Magic Garden’ the broken drums are misleading, as a driving bassline sweeps in, begging to be played through a club system. Partner in crime P.O adds probably the most curious dynamic to the release, a trippy rave vibe not to be underestimated.

Sound Synthesis is back with another Orbital Mechanics! Here he continues on the acidic vocoder electro trip, all in all another super solid EP from the man of the moment and highly recommended!

We welcome Stasis to De:tuned! UK techno pioneer Steve Pickton has dug deep into his DAT tapes collection to unearth 2 previously unreleased recordings from the golden era '92-'93. Both rarities offer a trademark lush and retro-futurist Detroit inspired sound that is totally unique. Fellow Likemind legend Nuron provides a stunning remix. The track was built up from scratch as no stems were available, giving you another sneak peek of the genius musical mind that is Nuron.

The vinyl version comes with impeccable sleeve and label artwork by Abdul Haqq (Third Earth).

In its 4th installment, JIN, the Taipei, Taiwan-based label, continues its cosmic journey with a set of tracks that simmer between peak-time dancefloor and early morning after hours vibe.

First up sees Bangkok’s Siamese Twins mainstay Sunju Hargun, 1/2 of Mogambo, returning to JIN with two A-side tracks. The first, “Chale”, is a modern ode to classic trance that will leave dancefloors from Bangkok to Berlin in ecstasy. His second track -フーイズカサンドラ (“Who is Kassandra”) is a post peak-time 7-minute acid bomb that spins and reverberates in every direction.

The B-side features two remixes of “Chale”. First up, Barcelona’s wunderkind Marc Pinol removes the trance needle and rebuilds the track creating a perfectly dubbed-out cosmic trip between musical galaxies. Finishing the E.P., Taipei’s own Initials B.B. incorporates guitar samples turning the original into a futuristic, new wave-like slow burner that leaves one floating between planets.

Lisbon's Paraiso bring their A&R a-game once again with a stellar EP by one of the city's most beloved techno DJs - VIL - and a chef's kiss remix by the one and only queen of twisted dance, EDND from Algarve. VIL effortlessly strikes a balance between his seasoned raver's effective ammunition approach and his penchant for freshness that has accompanied him since his early days as a dubstep DJ. Concise elegance and banging inventiveness meet in the opener Rotari, as the A2 follows with detroitian levels of class and relentlessness, all ecstatic hats, warm stabs and beautiful percussion. Ghet09 closes the A side with tom-filled jack-infused beats and smooth keys with an instant-classic quality, all offset by eerie pads cause it's techno we're gladly witnessing after all. Anjos, the new Birmingham brings in-your-face energy in the tight drum programming and a dash of trippy, quasi-dubby melodic elements in an ode to Lisbon's tentative premier techno neighbourhood Anjos. Deranged yet loved-up, the B2 is a perfect peak-time dreamy mood-setter - proving we're in the hands of a skilled emotion-to-dance translator. The record closes with a stellar remix by one of Portugal's innovators, EDND herself, who drowns the opening track in mysterious waters and adds beautiful melodic elements, perfect for that much-appreciated deep dive moment on the dancefloor. There's a wonderful digi bonus for the heads, where oneiric pads are punctuated by vocal chops from a very familiar classic.

20/20 Vision are proud to present 'Fragments Of Reality' - a brand new label homing in on tripped out shades of house and techno curated by Luther Vine (Phonica Records).

The opening track comes from London underground circuits' stalwart and the Fabric resident Voigtmann. The owner of Subsequent, the label that in itself over the last couple of years has broken a lot of new ground , delivers a big room bomb. 'Automatic Chemistry' will soak you in pulsating baselines and acid tinged minimalist breaks.

'Receptivity' jolts you in an altogether different direction. The track that comes to you courtesy of Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist Priori is a tripped out soundscape of kaleidoscopic surprises. Yet the lush cascading sounds and pentatonic hints demand a delirious limb movement from even the most reserved of listeners. The magic that Priori brings on board has been shaped by his prior exploits eternalised on highly acclaimed releases for Dust World and NAFF.

Flip the wax ang get a load of 'Expulsion', a throbbing Dub Techno masterpiece crafted by Rotterdam based duo D&S. With a nod to genre's pioneers and echoes of analogue Detroit constantly present the Dutchmen's creation boasts silly concentration of energy begging for a prime-time attention. The talent also comes with a pedigree. D&S had their stellar work noticed and pressed by Girada Unlimited and Space Shepherd labels to name but a few.

Your new essential record bag filler closes with Rupert Marine's blistering Acid Tech workout entitled 'Drifter'. Fresh jacking grooves that Hamburg based musician packs in this particular production are both airy and tight. Surely it's a track worthy of rave aboard an intergalactic Starship on the merit of it's futuristic brilliance alone.

After his contribution to the "Lifesaver Compilation 4 - 21 (Dedicated To Andrew Weatherall)" last year with the pumping "Let's Hide Away", Damiano von Erckert presents his first proper full four tracker on LARJ. Expect dreamy moments with a lot of punch and great vocal snippets as Damiano dominates the bass drum in his masterful way.

A1 "MOONS" sucks you in with light and groovy bongo patterns which build the foundation for an uplifting track that's a bit dark around the sunnier side of things, yet still keeps the positive message: You and I can make it!

A2 "A MONSTER TO LOVE" sounds a bit like a modern take on the "Captain Future Theme", yet much deeper and darker. Atmospheric but built on one hell of a monster groove.

B1 "THESE ARE THE MOMENTS (FOR ZIMNI)" has epic qualities and is full of the uplifting moments we all need - not only Zimni … It does have a certain British sound to it and will definitely rule on a lot of dancefloors with its majestic bass line and whipping hi-hat.

B2 "WISHES" is reminiscent of yet more British sounds from the early 90ies (think Warp and early Nightmares On Wax). The beautiful vocal sample helps build up the tension here before a driving 303 bass line kicks in and takes no prisoners. You better wish for moments like these indeed … and relish them.

2021 has been something of a banner year for Central Processing Unit. Less than a decade on from its first release, the Sheffield imprint brought up a century of catalogue items earlier in 2021 with Cygnus' fittingly-titled '100% Dope' EP.

Reaching such a milestone would cause many to pause and reflect on their achievements. However, as well as taking stock, CPU has continued to drop new music at an impressive clip - Blackploid, Silicon Scally and London Modular Alliance are just a few of the cult favourites to issue new material via CPU in the past twelve months.

With FASME & Maelstrom's Lotus 48 EP, CPU round out 2021 with yet another cracking electro collection. For the latter, this is par for the course - Maelstrom's catalogue stretches back to the 1990s, and the one born Joan-Mael Péneau has already delivered two fine records on CPU in the past. However, Lotus 48 represents another line in the sand on account of it being FASME's label debut.

No matter who is at the controls, Lotus 48 carries itself with a panache which signifies that FASME & Maelstrom are both in their element here. Many of the tracks are anchored by the sort of snapping machine-funk grooves which have become something of a calling card for CPU down the years.

That said, as well as club-ready rhythm work, FASME & Maelstrom also deliver some gorgeous synth textures which evoke the golden age of Boards of Canada and AFX. A-sides 'Almond Blossom' and 'Ciliae' both follow this formula fabulously well. The bass and drum programming will delight those who have enjoyed recent CPU drops from Cygnus, Silicon Scally et al, while technotronic synth pads open up hidden depths.

The title-track kicks off Lotus 48's B-side with another sleek, slick beat. After introducing gurgling basslines and ghostly tinklings of synth, 'Lotus 48' soon locks into a slamming breakneck groove which is sure to send the dance into raptures. It's an energy which carries through to closer 'Moneres', a joint which contrasts booming drum programming with chordal washes taken straight out of the dub-techno playbook.

FASME & Maelstrom expertly combine machine-funk grooves with deft synth play on the Lotus 48 EP.

Long and wild like the club that spawned them, each track runs at over 10 minutes. The a side is a peak time basement rave tool while the b side will direct you to the chill out room.

Originally released on Holistic Recordings in 1994, all tracks have been remastered by Mike Grinser and officially licensed by Transmigration.

The second release in January to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Frank de Groodts career as a recording artist is a re-press of his legendary Sonar Bases 4 10 double 12 . Exactly 21 years ago, in January 1997, Frank elevated to electro stardom with this astonishing combination of dark electronica and electro beats.

Frank at the time lived just outside the city of Amersfoort, which is where he was born and lives again these days, some 30 minutes northwest of Utrecht. His first ever release in January 1994 was a techno EP on U-TRAX, as Pieces of a Pensive State of Mind. Later that year, he released his first 12"-es on Djax records as The Optic Crux, and he continued to keep making up artists names in the following 25 years, like Fastgraph and The Operator. He is also one half of the live outfit Random XS (together with DJ Zero One), collaborated with Arno Peeters (a.k.a. Spasms) as Urban Electro and with Detroit's Dennis Richardson as Ultradyne. And that s not even all of his alter egos.

The sound of these eight unique tracks called for a new moniker back in the nineties: Sonar Base (ironically misspelled on the original release as Sonar Bass). All track on this re-press have been remastered for maximum impact. The double vinyl goodness kicks off with Earth Probe, that very subtly creeps towards us, before it kicks in with a rather obese bassdrum. As if Frank wanted to ease his listeners into his then new sound, this track basically is in techno/acid style, but has the slower tempo that characterizes the rest of the electro tracks of this release.

Immediately following, is the unrivaled beauty of Welcome To Sonar Base #4, a track that slowly builds up before it takes us on a deep space journey at two thirds. The 11 minute Sonar Base #5 has been a DJ favorite for 21 years, reaching out to both electro and techno lovers, while Sonar Base #6 is the type of ultra-pure electro that really puts your woofers to the test.

Arrival At Dwell Probe is another one of our favorites, with superfine beats, desolate voice samples and deep and moody synths. Very musical, truly a top piece that will leave you totally unprepared for Blunted. This track has the rolling type of hiphop-style beats that mix well with LL Cool J's Mama Said Knock You Out, but of course has the space-station atmosphere that makes it unmistakably a Sonar Base track.

The fast pace and merciless beats of Intergalactic Anecdote rush us to the finale: Sonar Base #10, a worthy closing track, with deep bassdrum patterns and melancholic strings that also please fans of broken beats. It stops and goes and keeps demanding your attention, making you wanting to go back again to the first track disc and start your Sonar Base trip all over again.

It’s been a decade since Andy Stott released ‘Passed Me By’, a radical re-imagining of dance music as an expression of “physical and spiritual exhaustion” (Pitchfork). What followed was a process of rapid remodelling: ‘We Stay Together’ (2011 / slow and fucked,
for the club), ‘Luxury Problems’ (2012 / greyscale romance), ‘Faith In Strangers’ (2014 / destroyed love songs), ’Too Many Voices’ (2016 / 4th world Triton shimmers) and ‘It Should Be Us’ (2019 / the club, collapsed) - a run of releases that gradually untangled complex ideas into a singular, chaotic body of work - somewhere between sound-art,
techno and pop.
In early 2020 - with a new album almost done and an offer to produce for a completely mainstream artist on the table - personal upheaval brought everything to a sudden standstill. Months of withdrawal eventually triggered renewed curiosity, a different approach. Stott began to record hours of raw material; slow horns, sibilance, delayed
drums, wondering flutes - whatever, whenever. And although software made it possible to iron out every kink and knot, Stott tirelessly looked for them - in pursuit of a sound that was human in all its awkward asymmetry.
With vocals recorded by Alison Skidmore, the album was finally completed late in the year - taking on a completely different shape. Its songs were desolate, melancholy, defiant, beautiful - often all at once. The sounds echoed music around Stott during those months:
Prince, Gavin Bryars, A.R. Kane, Bohren & der Club of Gore, Robert Turman, Cindy Lee, Leila, Catherine Christer Hennix, Junior Boys, László Hortobágyi, Nídia, Prefab Sprout - the unusual, the familiar.
And echoing that mix of new and old, each of the songs on ’Never The Right Time’ seem woven from the same thread despite following different trajectories; from the lovelorn shimmer of opener ‘Away not gone’, to the clattering linndrum pop of ‘The beginning’, through ‘Answers’ angular club haze, and the city-at-night end-credits ‘Hard to Tell’. These are songs fuelled by nostalgia and soul searching, but all hold true to a vision of music making as a form of renewal and reinvention.
A 10 year cycle, complete.

The highly-anticipated EP, 'DESPITE EVERYTHING', written and produced by Italian techno artist, AYARCANA, with remixes by London based producer MANNI DEE, along with Berlin based producer, HUREN, is finally here. This is the second release for OMEN Recordings, once again archiving the dark sounds and malignant spirit of techno.

AYARCANA produces using hardware to seize his rough and brutal sound. He delivers sonic tones that can be hard percussive workouts, but at the same time providing sensual energy to his music. His title track, 'Despite Everything' dives in with steady kicks, strong bass lines with static and distorted melody lines that will surely be a dancefloor favorite. The triplet patterns in the lead voices capture the listener right away to take them on an auditory journey of unforgiving and relentless sounds. The second track, 'Direct Realism' starts with analog screams and cries while broken-beat drums fasten it all together. The chugging tempo combined with suffering aural voices makes you feel like you are in an unknown dark place.

MANNI DEE leads by example in creating mechanical and haunting synth work. His remix of 'Despite Everything' interprets the dark audio language and delivers a different approach to add to this moody ride. Though the noises created are minor in tone and melancholic, there is a dark soul that breathes life into this track. Steady hi-hats combined with sorrowful melodies make this remix very unique.

HUREN spearheads the industrial techno movement with his remix of 'Direct Realism' that starts with machines churning and simmering only to boil up to a tight 4X4, hammering track that is brutal and stomping. Distorted and thrashing winds will pummel you to the floor in an unforgiving way. This powerful mash-up is guaranteed to keep the energy high.

This EP is off to the industrial races entrenched with agitation and agony, but maintains its intensity throughout the album. All tracks on this EP muscle together in a tenacious way that will push speakers to their limits. This audio story seduces you in and tells you dark tales of exploration of the soul. Its alluring sounds put a spell on those who get caught in its spider web of noises that make this record demand attention.'

Angel’s Flight is the new album from highly-acclaimed producer and composer Biosphere, set for release on vinyl and CD in January 2021. It features twelve tracks based on Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 14 that deftly tread the peripheries of classical and electronic composition. Much of the music was initially composed for Uncoordinated Dog, a dance production by the Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt in 2019 that explored the personal, the ambiguous, exposure and beauty – which gives you a sense of what the album holds.

Belgium's 'Raving George' dispenses of her alias on her debut ep for Turbo Recordings as Charlotte de Witte.

The 23 year-old Studio Brussel resident DJ has quickly made a name for herself following EPs on Bad Life and a massively successful collaboration with Oscar & The Wolf (which actually sold 15k copies in Belgium alone). Shedding her alias here, Charlotte shows she's ready for prime-time with this expertly crafted EP of big-room techno.

Lead track 'Weltschmerz' sounds like an instant Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of 'progressive.' It's a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.

'Damage Control' is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is 'floor-filler.' 'Lonesome' brings the emotion back, with it's super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. 'Relatives of None' is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. True to form, 124 meddles sharp rhythmic minimalism and diverse textures, each track pushing at the epiphanic threshold as the boss of Spazio Disponibile allows his deeply intuitive productions to take effect.

messy kafka world introduces a frenetic and concentrated atmosphere of rhythmic forces, hallucinatory and euphoric in effect. Its dizzying staccato loops are given structure by strengthening beats and bleak synthetic pillars. synthi chase emits radical powers, as buzzing rhythms and monotone synths make raw gestures towards altered states. It shares a kindred spirit with cassiopeia 36, seen in particular through its determined and primitive pulses, nested within wobbling wood percussion and nervous synth repetitions. wooden dolls don’t cry stamps a warm groove, its tempered percussion taking centre stage as shimmering melodic loops threaten spiralling feedback.

One of the rare outing's of Dopplereffekt , the beautiful abstract and hypnotizing "Linear Accelerator" album is getting a proper double vinyl treatment on WeMe records after the initial cd only release on Gigolo in 2003. Linear Accelerator is a continuation of Der Zyklus's Biometry album with its abstract hypnotizing soundscapes and its controled sterile atmopshere. Tracks like the slowly unfolding 21 minute long 'Photo Injector' are unique and all the 6 tracks all are stunning beauties with Myon-Neutrino bridging the gap between the old Dopplereffekt works and the further evolved outings on this album that garantuee a long and tranquilizing trip. Inspired by the high energy particle psychics being explored at DESY, Dopplereffekt appear to be similarly pulling the very fabric of their sounds apart and thinking on a subatomic level. 17 years after its initial release this is still avant garde and one of those few releases that captured the true meaning of techno! Groundbreaking, Astounding, Alienating, but always with a soul!

Driftmachine Plays Marien van Oers' is a parallel physical output to the concert 'Massive Trance: Interpreted by Driftmachine,' which was performed during the 2019 Minimal Music Festival in Amsterdam. Both the concert performed at Muziek Gebouw aan 't IJ and the album take their cue from a cassette produced in 1983 by the Dutch experimental composer Marien van Oers (1955-2013). The original cassette states Van Oers' following intentions: "The basic idea of the performance is experiencing a constant repetition of sound (=rhythm), which can result in the spectator taking action through movement or getting into a form of trance." His percussion based pieces are all but industrial; the self-built instruments and repetitive chanting aim to achieve a physicality that is closer to tribal music. Van Oers has mainly performed as his solo act, Het Zweet, which was active from 1983 to about 1988. This interpretation of Marien van Oers' music by modular synth duo Driftmachine is not a blind restaging of Van Oers' original recordings, but instead actively reinterprets the piece on the level of its composition, performance, and mixing. Taking the piece's ultimate aim of 'attaining trance' as a starting point, Driftmachine accordingly works towards a new coherence that features a repetition of organic syncopations by using two racks of modular systems. The liner notes detail how this record came to be, analyze the early work of Marien van Oers, and place this project as a curatorial practice of Ongehoord label initiator Jeroen Vermandere.

Exhausted Modern's debut full-length titled The Year of the Rat is a proof of the thought-provocation that author's name generates. Released on his own Endless Illusion imprint, the album doesn't have all the answers, it simply offers Exhausted Modern's perception of the modern times and also the energy to do something with them. The title, borrowed from the Chinese zodiac calendar, doesn't slip to mere esoteric prognosis, it fittingly and provocatively comments on broken mechanics of society, capitalistic hierarchisation and emotional frustration of its victims. Despite the dystopian character of Exhausted Modern's sound, which ranges from fast melancholia through suspicious calmness to slowly bubbling rage, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. It's critical artistic statement of a person who despite seeing all the darkness, also sees the way out of it.

Hobo (Minus, Hot Creations, Tronic) launches his new imprint, Soundz, by finally releasing his highly acclaimed hit 'Mind Games'. A distillation of cultural memory through electronic process, James Place - the creative guise of New York native Phil Tortoroli, returns with his third release for Umor Rex. The sonic realization of love and loss, re-sculpted for the Post-Modern age, pursuing his glacial take on techno into newly intimate depths.

Departing from a line in TS Elliot's Four Quartets the moment in and out of time', its works take form through the haze of a dream. Over the course of several months Tortoroli tracked heaps of live stereo jams at home, jamming on his drum machine, sampler, polysynth, and effects setup. Poring over these hours of hazy jams, Tortoroli heard himself straining for an additional voice to further emote. Rifling through a vast library of old bounces and experiments, Tortoroli rediscovered the music of Sam Sally to complete Voices Bloom, resampled live and again subdued into explorations of an old practice'.

Voices Bloom is the musicality of cultural collage, immensely personal and intimate, arms stretched out, gathering diverse sonic worlds. The artist and his craft as a self-reflexive lens for an electronic age - a sonic patchwork heard from afar - impressions of memory, drawn close to the heart. Within the album's cool displaced tones, rise nostalgic romances, drifting rhythmic works which defy the beat. A world where time enters multiple frames, those possible, literal, implied, forgotten, and remembered anew. The final results on Voices Bloom are the most reflective yet from James Place. The hopeful kosmische beats and hauntological synth music on previous albums, and more delicate melodies, riding crisp minimal rhythms that flow elegantly from vignette to vignette. Rhythms of abstract techno with glistening melodic lights.

After solemnly closing out the SPC-series in 2016, Jeroen Search hands in his second EP of the year for Figure. Carrying his signature style, these tunes embody the live-recording feel he is known for, perfectly executed and arranged in clean-cut layers. Both tracks on the A-side feature big and beefy beats, their generous sub-range creating ample space for the juxtaposing elements to effectively slice through, whether it be the penetrating bleeps of 'Deduced' or the piercing rides on 'Interval'. Things get bumpy on the flip when the rugged but undeniable groove of 'Steady Pulse' firmly stands its ground against repeated onslaughts of flailing percussion. The jolty rhythms and tinkling loops of 'Endless Circles' may seem like it being the odd one out, but unexpectedly merge into an intricate mesh of sounds, making for a most memorable closer to this jam-packed EP.

A Prison Of Predictions is the first LP from the Ownlife label (excepting SELD series, focused in pressing back gems from two decades ago) and also by the person behind it. Leiras.
On it, the producer showcases a compendium featuring the characteristic sound of the platform, pushing ahead cyclical techno together with tracks that evoke the persistence of remembrance. Echoing the preterit sound of Sandwell District and renewed sound formulas from almost two decades of UK electronica. Ambient brush strokes outline soundscapes surrounded by analogue sounds that share space with more direct and snappy songs. A scape on the frenetic side of electronica with an IDM-leaning end closes the equation.

Substantiating his versatility as a producer with the label's previous 10 titles and undoubtedly confirmed on this record, Leiras offers a consequent closing for the first stage of Ownlife, which finishes on this point in order to look for new sound structures for the next transmissions.

COVID-19 pandemic infectiousness and the relative necessity to put hard distance between people has brought up a wide range of means to cope with it. For some it went by as nothing happened, some struggled with not being able to be social, some were overly social on social medias, some spent it in a total drugged-out haze. Some, like Leroy se Meurt, used it to actually create something. The 5 tracks presented in this EP are the result of that forced stay in, the push towards the outside and the realisation that, in the end, there's nowhere to go. We recommend to stay locked in, even when this will all be over.

Moonchild they call me, because I only appear once a month during full moon. I was once saved by the damned & doomed; now I have awoken from a structural nightmare. In my new & limited existence, I felt the urge to cast a bright light on those creatures of the night as we would share a common faith (or systematic oppression). I suppose we are a fragmented community – once a month – when the moon shines the strongest – we bring death & despair to the ones that marginalized our spirits.

“Unfamiliar Locations” is the solid 4-track EP by Australian artist Mutant Joe that comes as the first Tombolo Records release. Powerful and inspiring beats and samples, melodic lines of those that give you goosebumps on the back of the neck, and even punctual acid gems reminiscent of a good pre-covid raving era. At just 20 years old, Mutant Joe is one of the rising stars of avant-garde electronic music on the electro / breakbeat / techno spectrum. With a sound inspired by US phonk / memphis rap, he has produced artists such as Freddie Dredd or ApocKrysis.

The mastering has been done by Madrid producer Damian Schwarz and the cover has been designed by Javier Rodriguez and Jonathan Castro. Two renowned designers on the scene especially Jonathan having worked on the image of projects such as Boiler Room or De School.

Octave One's deep and downtempo 90s project Never on Sunday will be back later this year with another EP. Before that, they tease with a lead single that comes with remixes from Skream, P41 and the legendary Detroit brothers themselves.

Though best known for their electrifying live shows and stadium-sized techno productions as Octave One, the Burden brothers also started the electronic band Never On Sunday back in 1991. It saw them put out one solo EP, and one with MK, before the success of the Octave One project took over. Aside from an experimental audiovisual live show in Rome in 2018, it has laid dormant... until now. During the pandemic and no doubt inspired by more time at home and away from the energy of the dance floor, the brothers have cooked up a wealth of deep and thoughtful new material that is rich in detail and atmosphere, as this new single proves.

The Bearer (Original Instrumental) is still defined by scintillating angle sounds, from the meandering synths to the crunchy broken beats, but the tempo is slowed so you have more time to gaze at the cosmic pads and sink deep into the otherworldly sonic landscapes. First to remix is party-starting UK DJ and multi-faceted producer Skream. He lays down rock solid kicks with rib-rattling bass rumbles that make for an incendiary techno track. Add in the spine-tinglingly chilly vocal performance from Karina Mia, and you have a track designed to make a huge impact in even the largest of warehouses.

Next up is P41, the Italian electronic-engineer who worked with Francesco Tristano on his famed live shows and has himself played everywhere from Off Sonar to Studio 80 in Amsterdam. His remix is hugely emotive, with chunky drums laced with subtle melodic bleeps and a futuristic atmosphere that will hypnotize all who hear it. Finally, the Octave One remix is six minutes of perfectly well-swung deepness. The hits are dry, the vocal becomes more warm and soulful and the mid-tempo groove is irresistible.

This is a superb new EP that re-introduces the Never on Sunday in fine style.

Polynation set to release their debut album 'Igneous' on May 10th through Dutch imprint Atomnation. Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut worked on a 2LP that surpasses older work such as Allogamy & Sufi. The new LP is a perfection of their signature of acoustic drum sound, impressive synth work and unheard of arranaging skills / dreamy soundscapes.

Dalmata Daniel presents the new album by Dutch West Coast mid-veteran Roberto Auser as an opening act in the label's LP series that comes with colored sleeve and limited to 200 copies. Also includes a hand-numbered riso-print as insert.

Auser (born Derk Reneman) has been into cinematic (or b-videomatic) electro for more than a decade now, with releases on Viewlexx, Pinkman, Gooiland Electro/Enfant Terrible and more, ranging from atmospheric and hypnotic to tight and grim, but always loaded with a vision of a storyteller. In a Dutch way, for sure. Though Second Sun is, again, an audiovisual trip, that's not the primary concept here - it's probably the purest album-like experience of Robert Auser so far, presenting most of his characteristics and sounds, and also new elements, still, all are coherent and organic parts of Reneman's projective language of electronics.

Grey Vinyl

Polymorphism Records continue their intercultural and cross-genre work with their third release E Source. Female vocals return to the label with four original tracks by Russian artist Sestrica, who brings in her characteristic emotional narrative. A remix by Konx Om Pax and
a rework by Antwood make up the crew boarding on a galactic grey/silver vinyl.

PM003 takes off with electro-to-techno beats fuelled by a mild, wrapping acid melody in Today We Meet, where the uplifting countdown to launch can be felt. Sentimental Value gets
us deeper into the spatial trip. Darker samples and a heavier bassline give extra gravity to the anthem of the journey across sonic galaxies. Floating to slow, surrounding sounds and loops we land on a calmer planet called Intention. Its tidal sensation is created by an
orchestral combination of meditative vocals and other layers of composition. New Era enters an orbit of elegant syncopation within a rotating reverb stardust. Ancestral beeps subtly acknowledge legacy to be taken forward to the next odyssey.

Musician and graphical artist Konx Om Pax from Glasgow beautifully introduces nostalgia to New Era with playful breaks and scratches, getting us back to our roots in this excursion visiting alien territoires. Sestrica’s vocals from her original track are drawn into the remix as
echoing words rendering a mysterious aura, travelling through a deep trance of diverse yet harmonic rhythms and effects. A journey within a journey.

Canadian producer Antwood’s rework of side A jumps into an epic vortex of more experimental, unexpected sounds. The album-closer builds up towards absolute chaos, to then create a vacuum to emptiness. A supermassive (tribute to black holes intended) drop
leads to the last minutes of the EP: up tempo cyber-influenced sounds that bring us to a bright futuristic landscape ironically far from a dystopian prophecy.

Purely coincidental fact: the last track of PM002’s originals being Crisis Apparition and its homologue in PM003 New Era, hope seems to be peeking through current times to send an accidental message with this first series of the label.

Mind the overuse of Space metaphors; in this year 2021 where humans are going farther and further in exploring new places out there, it is a tribute and celebration to discover new musical journeys like this out here, on Earth.

''Strange Attractor EP'' is a well balanced EP that showcases several sides of Umwelt's signature style that sits somewhere on the edges of Techno, Electro, Adventurous Electronics and anything in between.

The release opens with a rough machine work-out called ''Nocturnal March''. After this, with "The Collapsing Empire, the sound changes dramatically into one of Umwelt's signature adventures with cinematic electro. The title track (B1) maintains the electro'ish ambiance of ''The Collapsing Empire'' but the french artist adds some taints of paranoia to the mix resulting in a unprecedented dancefloor effort. ''Across The Abyss'' is a treat for anyone that's been into Umwelt cinematic sounding escapades. Three minutes of sweltering synths
beautifully aligning with a scorching bassline.

To celebrate hitting their 20th release, Cleric's imprint pulls together 23 talents for a various artist mix compilation including tracks from the likes of Rebekah, Cleric, Stef Mendesidis, Remco Beekwilder & Stranger, Endlec, Kwartz, Setaoc Mass, Roman Poncet, Slam and many more.

Clergy has become synonymous with a balance of atmospheric and hard hitting brand of techno ever since 2014. The boss's own music has been key to that, with carefully curated releases from guests such as Dax J, Kwartz, Reflec and Cleric himself. Helping to make the label an underground favourite. "Clergy Visions 01" sees Cleric invite an array on techno heavyweights to contribute to this compilation that's mixed by the label boss himself.

The mix opens up with the bleak ambience and fizzing electric cables of Jokasti & Nek's "Grained" then Sept's "Artifical" lays down a tunnelling techno groove that immediately locks you in. The mysterious alias, Reizemann heads off to a cosmic realm with its deep space pads slowly building the momentum throughout the drums. The energy levels then stay high throughout tracks from Roman Poncet, Kwartz and Setaoc Mass, then leading onto the groove of Stef Mendesidis.

Testament to Cleric's skills as a DJ and sequencer is the fact this journey is constantly evolving while remaining coherent. Few authentic Electro producers from the UK can wear the badge 'legend' with the same level of justification as Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie. Active since the late 80s, Phil has been peddling his own take on Electro almost constantly, either as a solo artist or as part of numerous collabs with the likes of Dynamix II, Keith Tenniswood (Radioactiveman) and Si Brown (Dexorcist). DJ, remixer, live act, and the man behind the killer Battle Trax label, there is nothing this Junkie hasn't done.

Bjarki returns to with another EP brandishing five restructured doses of IDM from another galaxy. Using marching kick drums as a basis, oli gumm takes references from techno, gabber and trance and morphs them into something far less easy to categorise.'oli gumm 2-2' switches frantically between glistening synth cascades and bouncing kicks. 'fork2-2' is a subdued excursion through ominous, trance-inducing strings and skeletal percussion. Opening the B side, '7 filakaramellur lion bar' spirals through warped vocals and acoustic contortions, followed by 'hatann satann', a high speed voyage through a demonic parallel universe. Closing off the EP, 'sleikjó' uses rolling drums to circle around a pit of sparse sonic oddities.

Exordium was crafted from countless modular jams, passed back and forth between London and Liege, and polished into a piece of work that captures our love for club music, with an experimental edge. Foreign Policy is the electronic music project of Berlin based artist Thomas Ricard, co-founder of the Area Z collective. "Watching Existence" marks his debut release as well as his first 12", a six track journey of scorched electro industrial & techno body music operating as a conduit for his social observations on the modern condition, human rights and civil liberties. The 12" EP also includes a remix by SARIN. Available as vinyls & digital.

Komponente & Kurilo is a Ukrainian electronic duo recording trancehouse on analog instruments from the 90s.

A side track "Witchmaster" is a rolling, hi tech, reductionist groove with melancholic chords and a tripped out scrape on every club that's truly mind melting. A2 is "From The Picture Through The Light", a more mysterious and subdued effort with a broken beat, tripped out vocal samples and rising, tunnelling chords that altogether combined will push you right into the void.

On the flip, "Gilgamesh" turn more raucous thanks to the nervous bundle of cowbells and snares spewing from all angles. "The Beginning of Time" gives it a more acid and energetic makeover with a more rolling groove, the track a wonky and claustrophobic vibe that makes you feel like you’re dancing on downers.
