In what can be called a foray into animal -themed electronic experimentation - recorded using only Fairlight CMI samples and a Microbrute synthesizer - we hear a melodic side to his sound previously not present in other works. Hints of Musique Concrete as well as Eastern influences creep about in a teasing manner bringing the listener into a dream world of digi-nature, electronic bird chips and 8-bit waterfalls.. A welcome and refreshingly unique listen.

Los Pastores partner up with Neverdogs to present two groovy house cuts featuring remixes from Jay Haze and Tuccillo.
Returning to their Oblack imprint, Spain's Los Pastores releases have previously seen support from musical juggernauts such as Luciano, Apollonia, Loco Dice and Ricardo Villalobos. Joining them on this release are Italian duo and Amnesia residents Neverdogs, a pair who have gone from strength to strength over the last decade as well as taking the white Isle by storm over the last few years. Completing the package are remixes from American producer Jay Haze, best known for his prolific output on labels like Leftroom and Desolat, and Spanish producer resident Tuccillo, whose work has landed on 2020 Vision, 8bit and Holic Trax
'Discover Base' is a tough house cut fuelled by rich tribal rhythms and peppered with eclectic samples that give it a quirky feel. For the remix Jay Haze reworks things into more minimalist territory with a stripped back, scratchy techno offering that is perfectly on point. On the flip we have 'Terapia Sonora', another spacious and techy affair with a distinct off-kilter signature before Tuccillo takes the reins, streamlining the original whilst adding a rich warmth synonymous with his productions.

Elektrax Recordings is back, and not only is Elektrax Recordings back, it's also the return of some legends. The 'Big Room EP', by nobody else than the maestro Orlando Voorn contains some tracks you are not likely to forget, and comes with remixes by the one and only comeback kid Ortin Cam and Chris Colburn.
Needless to say, title track 'Big Room' provides the quality to be just like the name suggests; a throbbing kick and bassline and those great old-school hoovers. Ortin Cam delves a bit deeper with his remix, but undeniably, after some minutes in, profiles itself as peak time as Orlando Voorn's original.
On the B-side, we find 'The Booming System', by which the name alone already tells us, this one's not for the faint of heart. With the same heavy old-school vibe as the a-side, this one's a banger, start to finish. Chris Colburn's remix ends the EP with a deep tribal feel, providing for a great tool in all DJ sets.

After the success of Powers of Ten, Stephan Bodzin's latest and greatest full length, the German tastemaker has now invited a key selection of artists to remix tracks from it. This great collection will be released digitally—with two bonus remixes by Super Flu and Marc Romboy—as well as on vinyl on the 18th December 2015.
The original album came in June on Bodzin's own Herzblut Recordings and was a hugely personal affair that has been played far and wide by DJs and danced to by clubbers all over the world. Now breathing fresh life and different perspectives into the original source material are the likes of big name stars Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more.
Things kick off with Ellum Audio boss and Shall Ocin, who flip 'Powers of Ten' into a serene and slow burning track full of spiritual synth lines and heavenly pads, before Spanish pair Edu Imbernon and Coyu work their magic on 'Wir' and reimagine it as a sumptuous and slow burning tech track with a droning baseline and cosmic melodies. Influential Crosstown Rebels act Fur Coat then tackle 'Singularity' and cook up a brooding, elongated main room track that locks you into its groove and never lets you go. Next, long time Bodzin collaborator and friend Marc Romboy makes 'Ix' into a tense tech tool that balances on a knife edge as menacing bass roams and rolls below.
From there, Cocoon team and live specialists Extrawelt makes 'Blue Giant' into a spooky minimal cut that is full of haunting atmosphere, festival headlining Second State pair Pan-Pot then offer lots of tense groove and sombre machine melodies on their version of 'Zulu.' In the second half there are dark remixes from Max Cooper, intense synth jams from Agents of Time, typically beautiful and musical offerings from Dominik Eulberg, tripped out techno rollers from Gabriel Ananda and two digital only remixes of 'Birth' that are deep and inviting from Super Flu and clean, reflective and soothing from Marc Romboy. Monoloc also comes up with the goods on his deep and dubby remix of 'Singularity'.
This collection plays out almost like a mix, taking you up and down and through many different styles of electronic music, each as absorbing and essential as the next, and that's all thanks to the on point and informed A&R of label boss Stephan Bodzin.

Adam X is back with his third album release under his industrial guise, ADMX-71.
Following releases with the legendary label Hands and his own imprint, Sonic Groove Experiments, Adam paired up with L.I.E.S Records in 2014 for Redacted Files, a 12' single of slowed-down and tense EBM wizardry. Adam returns to the L.I.E.S. front with Coherent Abstractions, a brand new album of singular experiments that pull from every corner of electronic music's landscape into a comprehensive and propulsive full-length.
Coherent Abstractions pulsates with fractured rhythms, vacillating melodies and mesmerizing compositions that showcase Adam's impressive history working in all aspects of the underbelly of electronic music. Noise and industrial elements seep into the album's 11 songs, churning the cold and abrasive into feverish new territory. Though Coherent Abstractions operates primarily in sounds of solitude, guest vocalist Janina joins "Bound and Broken" for a rare vocal collaboration on an ADMX-71 track. We also hear a frantic vocal performance from the producer on Nearing Obliteration which is undoubtedly the apex of the album.
Throughout the album the music sweeps from breakbeat noir, anxious electronic dub to reflective industrial modes making Coherent Abstractions an engaging and varied listen, updating a late 80's EBM tone into modern sound design environments, while pushing a reverence for the past and heading into the deep unknown of the future.
For those unfamiliar with Adam's deeply rooted history in the New York underground, he and his brother, Frankie Bones, pioneered techno in a post-disco, pre-Guiliani, New York City through the late-eighties and onwards past the nineties producing countless records under various guises and finally opening their own shop and record label, Sonic Groove. At the same time they began throwing renegade parties, known as STORM RAVE throughout the 5 boroughs. which was, until this time unheard of in such a major U.S. metropolis and opened the door for what was to come.

It's the fourth release from the Berlin based imprint Wet Cellar, simply titled 'WET 004/V.A.' it's a example of what the label is about, simply producing a Techno sound and frame of mind in regards to underground electronic dance music.
The release brings two artists already known in previous releases Marco Effe and Salvo Castelli for A-side, while the B-side features a new artist, the young talent that is, Mattia Trani label boss of Pushmaster Discs.The release starts with Marco Effe's 'Phase Meter' is raw minimal Techno, in short relentless and simplistic in stature, full of organic sounds and rhythm where a powerful bass line dominates our own heartbeats.
Next up on the A-side is Salvo Castelli with his 'Border Drone' with a a vigorous kick and keeps curiosity up with whips and organic sounds expertly arranged, as well as filters that open and close, and accentuate this piece's rhythm.

Mote-Evolver's ever successful Parallel Series is now on to its fourth installment, this time with two West Coast producers - Developer and Truncate - going head to head. Pairing of the two is uncanny in many ways given their close friendship and the geographical base they share, and appears to be the perfect choice to highlight the difference between their sound and style to realize the concept of Parallel Series: contrast & compliment.
The EP opens with "Drive Themes" by Developer, a producer who's known for the deeply dramatic groove charged with masculine energy. With its focused and streamlined forward-moving force, "Drive Themes" is a track of relentless agility. "Random Attraction" maintains the same tempo but adds enticing elements of distorted shouts of melody on top of the ruthless yet smooth layers of chords and hats, all beautifully harmonized to perfection. Developer's contribution makes the darker and moodier side of EP and its stirring emotion serves as a nice counterpart to its slightly more lighthearted flip side.
Fellow LA-based producer Truncate steps out of his usual sound of rock-solid and thumping techno with "Is It Skinny", a spaced-out hypnotic track that contains a vocal sample that's so demure and unexpected that it melts into the swirling bleeps of melodies, and you wouldn't even notice if it wasn't the title that gives out. "Forty Four" is yet another track that's born for the floor, inducing aural pleasure with its funky rolling bass dancing with congo-like drums and claps.

The BALANS roster is growing evermore internationally with fresh Moscow signing Nphonix. For the Benway EP's title track, a coop with fellow Russian producer Apobothra, the term 'monster track' is an understatement. The slow, careful build up doesn't prepare the unweary listener for the wall of sound that's yet to come. After the drop Benway evolves into a relentless tornado, destroying everything in it's sonic path.
Black Acid and Nebrakada on the flip are have the same sonic signature, but are more trippy by nature. Both tunes reveal Nphonix dubstep background 135-140 bpm tempos, without losing any of their funk through pulsating bass grooves.

Biosphere is the main recording name of Geir Jenssen (born 30 May 1962),(1) a Norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. He is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. His 1997 album Substrata was voted by the users of the Hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album.
Patashnik was originally released by R&S Records/Apollo in 1994. It was number 1 in NME´s Independent Chart in March 1994 and reached number 50 in the UK official album chart.
The track Novelty Waves was used in Michel Gondry's Levi's 501 Jeans "Drugstore" spot, and holds - according to the Guinness World Records 2004, the record for "Most awards won by a TV commercial".
One reason why Jenssen's work stands out from the flood of early '90s ambient/techno releases is his strong sense of the quirkily creepy -- not in an Aphex Twin mode, but in his own particular way. The contrasting samples of a child quaveringly saying, "We had a dream last night," followed by a rougher sample saying, "We had the same dream," gives opening number "Phantasm" an unsettling feeling. Intensified by the, on the one hand, pretty, on the other, disturbing music, buried synth strings and a soft pulse accentuated by clattering noises deep in the mix, it kicks off the striking Patashnik very well. Though not as openly dark as acts like Lull, for instance, Biosphere still has an edge which isn't just melancholic, it's downright ominous at point. There's the slow crawl of "Startoucher," for instance, with its buried vocal snippets and deep bass drone, or the blend of the space signal atmospheres of "Mir" into the low, brooding intro to "The Shield." Not everything is so shadowy, though, Patashnik is primarily a relax and chill listening experience, but not without its gentle high points. "Novelty Waves," which became a crossover single in some quarters, has a good dancefloor sharpness to it even as Jenssen slyly sneaks in odd drones and samples through the mix. The opening snippet talking about an extraterrestrial disc jockey on "SETI Project" is good for a smile, as well as acting as a sharp lead-in to a fast rhythm track. Mostly, though, things continue on a deliciously unnerving pace throughout, gentle enough to go down easy but still just off enough to ensure you can't call this new age folderol for the rave generation.

We often forget that techno artists are some of the most knowledgeable and passionate music enthusiasts. Luckily we are forced to a shift in perception when an album comes out, when all the ideas and intentions that do not fit a format push the producer to embrace something new and consequently showcase some of the most interesting electronic music out there. It's a narrative that can be applied to many of the producers that are currently pushing techno toward more experimental grounds... a group Samuli Kemppi certainly belongs to. Growing up in Helsinki, Finland and discovering the Detroit sound in the late 80s, Kemppi has consistently contributed to the advancement of techno for the past decade, sometimes as dj and promoter, but mostly as producer. Unafraid to experiment with all sorts of subsets within the realm of techno, his records have been released by a diverse range of labels (among which we find Prologue, Mote-Evolver and Perc Trax) but it's with M_Rec Ltd. that the artist is set to release his debut album.
'The Observer Effect' is a brainy and challenging record. Recorded exclusively with gear, with all tracks arranged live, its tracks are pure explorations of the process of writing electronic music. It's all about perfecting the loop in real time, being in the moment without any digital memory to limit the potential. Forcing oneself to go back to the roots of the genre itself, basically writing a personal and heartfelt letter to its early pioneers. Although raw and unpolished, the results convey a very honest love for the essential nature of the genre and the emotional power of the electronic loop.
Obviously, Kemppi's attitude and vision live strong through the album: working as an intro, 'Particle Spray' is a crepuscular and haunting track that pierces deep. 'Agitated', 'Locked' and 'Power of Voltages' are conceptually ruthless techno experiments where the core of loops gets explored until a certain climax is extracted. 'Water Lake' is unsettling dark ambient, standing before the second set of loop-heavy tracks. 'Unsung Heroes' and '250 Days' are basically skeletons of instant rave classics you end up losing yourself into. With 'Beneath The Surface' things get even darker and sparse. It's basically harsh dub sounds working as dissociatives. 'Wrong Turn' goes out to busted dance floors and is probably the friendliest of the tracks on the record. Rough on the surface, its groove is irresistible. Expect to see this exciting electro monster getting a lot of play. The last tryptic formed by 'Tailgating', 'Passage' and 'Never The Same' explore more hypnotic grounds. Slightly more fluid, with more melody at play, these tracks stay consistently sinister in their nature, concluding an album that is not afraid to stay personal.

From the ruins of the birthplace of techno, Detroit Underground's twenty third release reunites Detroit producers Kero & Kyle Hall for their sophomore effort, appropriately titled TWO. At the start, Electronic Pure Sound (EPS) is a militant association that aims to the emancipation of the underground electronic music. Our common influence lays in early techno & house music productions from detroit's musical pionneers. For 8 years, EPS has been working on creation of events about this typical electronic culture. Per Martinsen aka Mental Overdrive and Plugged", two elementary techno Classics from Norway. Per Martinsen was born in the Arctic town of Tromsø in Northern Norway in 1966, and spent his teens listening to imported records and tapes filled with electronic (and some non-electronic) music stemming mainly from the UK and Germany. He first entered the world of music-making by playing drums in local post-punk outfits, but moved on to electronic instruments when he bought his own Roland TR-808 drum machine in 1983. Setting out on a mission to connect to the sources of his inspiration, he ended up in London in 1987, where he spent his days squatting in Hackney and working as an assistant programmer in This Heat's seminal Cold Storage studio in Brixton. Hit by the wave of Chicago house and Detroit techno invading London at the time, he soon found himself experimenting with making beats inspired by these new sounds merged with the 80's sounds he was accustomed to from his pre-London era, like industrial music and EBM. A cassette tape with some of these beats was given to a close friend, who at the time was signed to Belgium's Crammed Discs, and this earned him an invitation to fly over for a series of studio sessions in Brussels courtesy of the label. The sessions led to several 12 singles being released by Crammed in 1988. Most notable of these was his collaboration with Minimal Compact's Samy Birnbach (aka DJ Morpheus), with the release of the single Hallucination Generation' under the moniker The Gruesome Twosome' in 1989. The single was licensed by Crammed to Nettwerk Records in the US

Keeping with the rough release rate of an album every couple of years, Prime Numbers label boss Trus'me is back with his fourth full length, Planet 4.Featuring nine cuts of intergalactic Techno and once again marking a considerable sonic evolution for this acclaimed UK artist. Never one to do the same trick twice, David James Wolstencroft uses his latest album as a vehicle for his own interest in deep space, physics and dark matter.
It is those subjects that have occupied his mind in recent years, and those subjects that inform this brilliantly otherworldly album.
Where previous LPs have variously been funk and soul heavy, or openly analogue and physical, this one is a more subtle and supple Techno affair that is as cerebral as it is seductive.
Starting with a monologue that suggests that man has already landed on Mars, '1979' is a cut that immediately places you somewhere in orbit. Spooky synths and sci-fi sounds are eerie and atmospheric and very much set a perfect tone.
From there, there is slow, elastic and unsettling mood music on 'The Unexplained', deep and insular Techno on 'Dark Flow' and trippy Dan Bell style minimalism on 'Ring Round Heart'.
The second half of the LP touches on chunky dub, manic and melodic grooves.This is a coherent statement that holds together conceptually and musically. As well as providing plenty of dynamite for the more discerning dance floor, Planet 4 is also a delightfully detailed affair that will work just as well on headphones late at night.

The third release on the vinyl-label 'Playmusic-Productions' is presented by the berlin-based Rene Reinert under his artist name 'Amor Fati', who's also the label owner of Black Is Black Recordings. On his very unique work for Playmusic-Productions called 'Träumer & Tänzer', which is german for 'Dreamer & Dancer' he combines remarkable soundscapes, deep keys, an epic trumpet lick and the drums. Nothing more, not even a real baseline. But that is possibly what makes this tune so special. Also included in the package is a remix from PMP's wunderkind Tim Engelhardt, whose mix is definitely for the dance floor. In the first 3 minutes the mix simply has an amazing flow using the main loop from the original, a smooth baseline, rolling hats and some groovy shakers. Then a wonderful danceable break and the trumpets come in. All in all, a magic mix. Then label head Andreas Lindemann is bringing the original to the top. Against all expectations, he made a very smooth and relaxing mix, which is starting with sea waves he recorded in Mexico. Homoheterogeneity, originally released in January 2015, is the debut album from
Raccoglimento Parziale, the duo formed by Andrea Giachetti and Stefano Meucci (The
Clover, Silent People). In eight dense tracks, the album builds piece by piece an arcane
language, made up of electromechanical beats, powerful basses, digitized guitars and
broken samples, assembled in a liquid and fluctuating atmosphere.

Spanish based label NuLabel, set out on their third vinyl adventure which comes impregnated with authentic German Techno from Coeter, who signs two original tracks in addition to two reworks from Berlin based Ixel and the Brazilian producer Urbano.
Coeter opens the curtain with '110', track with a deep technoid soul of fanfare, leisurely pace and a mix of raw and hypnotic sounds that drawn on the powerful bass-line.
'145' presents the most upbeat and danceable side of Coeter, who submerges us into a universe of synthetic and atmospheric beats colliding with each other causing a delicious sound reaction.
Ixel lands from Berlin to leave a nice treatment of '110', where he uses practically the same original elements, looking for colder sensations thanks to a sharp base and stealthy rhythm of the track.
Finally the Brazillian Urbano activates all your senses with his rework of '145', sounding architecture in appearance more forceful and aggressive than the original, but with many elements that form a chaotic and high-flying track.

'Fizic is the next natural step for accomplished techno producer Cosmin TRG. Having released on an influential array of labels in the last few years, the Romanian is now branching out on his own with an imprint that will serve as a further extension of himself, his sonic preferences and his interest in artistic imagery. For over a decade, The Bunker has been a storied night of musical exploration in New York City. The adventurous electronic music lineups—which bring together fringe artists who also know how to move a dancefloor—made the party legendary amongst NYC cognescenti. Starting a record label was the next natural step in The Bunker's evolution, featuring contributions from artists who frequent the shadows of the party and established guests.
The centerpiece of the record is "In Wearable Hertz," a soaring nine-minute epic pairing modular synths with violin played by Elizabeth Warren. The elegiac music brings to mind the cinematic sweep of vintage Klaus Schulze, the expanding universe of Laurie Spiegel. "Heldscalia" begins with a disorienting cascade of filter sweeps before falling into a deep pool of sound. "Alys" recalls vintage LFO and 808 State, while sounding ruthlessly modern - a banging dancefloor anthem for an alternate reality.
Leisure Muffin produced this EP in 2013 under very difficult circumstances. When he found out his mother was dying, he packed up everything, quit his job, and left a girlfriend behind in the Bay Area to move to Maine to take care of her. Making the EP in a studio right next to his mother was the only thing that kept him sane during this time. He showed her the basics of how his modular worked, and she would sit in on his sessions. She was particularly fond of 'In Wearable Hertz,' which he finished shortly before she died.
Leisure Muffin's modern take on kosmische music is not easy to pin down. Influences and reference points are extraordinarily wide-ranged, but include early Warp (Seefeel, Autechre, and Aphex), Drexciya, Skinny Puppy, Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, and Perrey and Kingsley. He was also deeply influenced by the sound of The Bunker (and other) dancefloors. A former audio engineering educator, Hopkins has a mastery of both Ableton Live and modular synthesizers. After drooling over, and even borrowing some key pieces of gear from Sarah Lawrence College and Charles Cohen's studio over the years, the recent advent of more affordable modular equipment meant that he finally has a dream setup of his own.
'The fact that modular synths have become affordable now has really helped,' he says. 'I always wanted to be writing using that stuff and after waiting for a really long time, I finally have the kind of setup I always dreamed of.'
It makes sense that someone with Leisure Muffin's broad tastes makes music that is hard to classify. When most people tell you that they love all forms of music, further examination of their claim usually leads to disappointment. This isn't the case for Leisure Muffin. If you join him for tea, you could end up listening to an accordion record as easily as you might hear electronic music. He spent most of his life working in some of the best and worst record stores in the USA, for the pure joy of being able to hear new sounds every day (remember kids, most of this was pre-Soundcloud, pre-Youtube, etc). If you talk to him you might hear about the pleasures of attending the symphony after eating a pot brownie or how you should listen to African Juju records from the 1930s. .
"I don't know what to call it--I really just make the kind of stuff that I want to hear,' he says. 'And honestly, if I didn't love dancing and playing at dance parties so much, I'd probably just be locked in a room somewhere torturing synthesizers or playing boring whale sound guitar solos for hours. Actually, I suppose I do a fair amount of that anyway. Maybe that's why it's taken me almost 20 years to actually release something that anybody is interested in putting out."
In the mid-90's, he was playing shows in clubs in the Lower East Side (Den of Thieves, Unity Gain, Tonic) when he was too young to drink. He pulled off a lot of great sets over the following years and built a reputation as a live electronic performer during an era when that was far less common. Live recordings of both his solo sets and his duos with Charles Cohen made the rounds among good friends (including The Bunker New York bossman Bryan Kasenic), but finishing a studio album had, until now, eluded him.
With the encouragement of Kasenic and The Bunker New York family, Leisure Muffin finally managed to finish an EP in the studio, and we couldn't be happier with the results.

BleeD take the leap from running revolutionary London clubnights, to releasing records, with a fitting debut release from Mr BleeD himself, Casper 'Volte-Face' Clark in the form of a 12" EP, 'Charlatan'. Those already familiar with his regular DJ sets in the UK and abroad, or the recent Daniel Avery remix that featured on a 12" alongside Rodhad and Silent Servant, might have expected the heady, versatile brew of contemporary European techno influences, allied with modern sound-design flourishes and ambient forays that are in evidence here.
Remaining consistent to the original tenets of the BleeD project, each 12" will feature a remix from a figurehead of the experimental underground, in this case Sweden's Peder Mannerfelt, best known for his production work on Fever Ray's feted LP, as well as forming one half of Roll The Dice, and recently releasing his own LPs ''Lines Describing Circles' and 'The Swedish Congo Record'.
The A1-B2 of the EP are ready-made for open-minded techno dancefloors, and have received early support from Svreca, Daniel Avery, Tripeo, Peter Van Hoesen, Pariah, DJ Nobu and Samuli Kemppi. The EP is rounded off by the titular track, a brief yet personal ambient excursion.

His tools — water, iron and microphones — are used to transport the listener through time and place. A true voyage through forgotten ritualism and symbolism, these extracts aim to grind contemporary dance music to its barest essentials, making long-lost times ours again.

Concupiscence' is Elon Katz's newest release introducing the anti-moniker E L O N (said by spelling out the artist's name; Ee El Oh En). Recorded in 2012-2013, these tracks mark an explorative time and departure from Katz's normal studio activity as White Car. Inspired by the work of Actress and a long time love of 90's electonica and IDM, the EP uses a variety of styles and densities to explore particular themes. E L O N is also the half of Streetwalker with Beau Wanzer.
'Concupiscence' makes sense of beat-based electronics through a mirage of gasping percussion, dimorphic bass lines, and syncopating truncated voice- often the producer's own, but also samples of internet pornography and cinematic sex; transforming the source audio of ersatz on-screen sexuality into new sonic imagery. In place of the salacious depictions that mainstream often offers, the EP engages electronic music and sound as a source of deeper exploration into eroticism.
Currently based out of Los Angeles, Katz has called for a hiatus on his 5 year effort on White Car, an alumnus of the Hippos In Tanks label and a still looming figure in the forever blooming Chicago electronic music scene. In 2016 and beyond he will focus on releasing and performing music under his birth name, Elon Katz and the E L O N project- evolving the ideas explored with his many different past projects and collaborations.
'Concupiscence' is to be release on 12' for the first time by the label MIND in February 2016.

The late, great Frankie Knuckles dominates the A-side with two of his biggest and most loved club tracks, "Baby Wants To Ride" and "Bad Boy", both featuring the inimitable vocals of Jamie Principle and Frankie's trademark production skills. Over on the B-side we have Pierre's Fantasy Club's storming Acid / vocal cut "Got The Bug" and Pleasure Zone's sinister, jacking "Fantasy".

Allow us to introduce you to Moniker, proper London underground techno heads often found DJing at those ridiculous Sunday raves that have been making a resurgence in the capital lately.
Having been seduced by the depth, quality and nuances they inject into their underground house & techno creations, we selected 3 of their productions for their debut release, each intended to showcase different aspects of their work.
A1 track 'Coma Berenices' has an evolving almost overwhelming build up that leaves you hanging on a cliff-edge during a swirling breakdown before plunging the dancefloor smack back down in the heart of heads-down technoland. This totally deserves to be played and experienced on a club soundsystem and having tested this hypnotic track out in our own sets we are fully confident in its dancefloor potency.
AA1 cut Oms kicks off the 2 nd side with a purposeful low-slung acid groove before high synth-pads gradually appear and ascend upward and upward. Delicate melodic touches and splashes of sonic colour are introduced to leave the dancer in an altogether different place than where they started.
The AA2 track Phaze Jam finishes off the ep with an engrossing take on the less is more approach. Powerful dub sheathed chords shatter like shards of ice atop a bulky kick and frazzled hats. After a brief breakdown's respite the rhythms get more rugged thereby cementing the deal that this is a high grade granite techno tool.

The second Rhythmic Theory release for Ancient Monarchy finds him in a more eclectic mood. Travelling Without Moving and The Bends sound like an interesting mixture of the "heads down" of the Blue Note Metalheadz era and the industrial heaviness of early No U Turn releases, with a taste of Detroit techno. Ceti Alpha and Machine State don't sound like the classic weak ambient tunes that most dance music producers create, to show they can also do this kind of stuff. They sound like a well thought out effort to create a cinematic sound that recalls the classic Brian Eno wall of sound, and the expansiveness of Artemiev soundtracks. Rhythmic Theory cannot do wrong these days.
