The electro revival that had ushered in the new millennium was in full swing and this was to prove a seminal tune, being voted track of the year by Groove magazine. As if to prove a point the bass line still grabs you the moment it drops, while the laser-guided melodies feel as relevant today as they ever did. Now with this limited hand stamped whitelabel Dutch master Benny Rodriguez aka ROD steps up under his new Younger Rebinds alias with even more intensity than demonstrated on last year’s ‘Sound of Benny EP’ on Running Back. Picking apart the original with almost forensic attention to detail, he gives new life to each individual strand in the form of two exhilarating mixes that seem destined to leave their mark on dance floors around the globe for the foreseeable future. Remix one strips things down to the raw, dirty basics giving the phasing bass riff some real breathing space as the hook line slowly unfurls amid a flurry of filtered ADSR madness to create absolute havoc. A series of peaks and troughs ensue, as Rodriguez effortlessly toys with the crowd, frying the synapses and gorging on serotonin, as the mix motors relentlessly to its conclusion. Remix two replaces the precision of the first with a more freestyle approach that’s in one hell of a rush to get going. The bass line rips through the mix, hihats scurry toward the cavernous, arpeggiated breakdown and we’re drenched in reverb as the synths dovetail dangerously, paying homage to the hioctane energy of the original.

Cybordelics was founded in 1993 in Stuttgart, Germany. In the same year, Mike S., Milan Zemanec and Daniel Varga aka Cybordelics released their hit Adventures of Dama on Sven Väth's label Harthouse. The record climbed up the UK dance charts to the 2nd place. People from London to Germany,
especially in the legendary Omen Club in Frankfurt, danced to their techno anthems until the late afternoon. Today's artists like Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Väth, Gregor Tresher, Chris Liebing, Gerd Janson or Anthony Rother were at the Omen club when this record was played for the first time, and they still consider Adventures of Dama a milestone in techno history. 23 years later, the new Harthouse label begins 2016 with a Remix EP, featuring remixes by Ricardo Villalobos, Butch, Tuff City Kids, starting a new era of the Harthouse story.

Naeth makes his debut on new Irish label Move Slow Records following an EP release on Memphis label Future Everything in 2017. The Dublin-based producer wears his 90s and early 2000s influences on his sleeve and has delivered something truly special with this two-track house EP that journeys into breaks.
Produced in the middle of a rare Irish heatwave, the title track Poolhall Lovers brims with the optimism of school day summers, while the B-side It's My Job veers into the more sombre side of this promising young producer's talents.
The release is accompanied by artwork and a series of animations by Mason London (former Boiler Room art director).
Though highly contemporary Bad Woman is an album that takes Pop music back to a time when lyrics where more than esthetic gimmicks. With Céline's music, one cannot avoid to listen to what she has to say. To be honest we've not been struck by lyrics as much as with this record for quite a long time, and it keeps on growing.
.
Bad Woman can be seen as a mutant blend of everything that's been produced by the music industry these last 30 years, from Cher's delirious come-back in the 1990's to the most embarrassing moments in Dance music (think Gabber and Happy Hardcore), blurring the frontier between 'good' and 'bad' taste, between commercial and alternative. Just like Cher's Believe, Céline Gillain's Bad Woman sometimes sounds like the music of a former diva who's been through tough times, saw her expectations torn apart and came back to music with a bizarre testimony of her state of mind.

Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. For over 2 decades this giant has supplied us with some of the deepest, most soul touching and verdant techno sounds the scene has ever presented. Larkin's music is always awash with human emotion, his machine tinged expressions hark back to the true sources of techno music where man always met machine and the soul was inherent. 'Serena X' always sounded like it had been beamed back to us, even in 1992 when she first appeared, bolstered by a classic remix from fellow Detroit techno auteur Carl Craig that saw C2 firmly innerzoning and adding in some trademark stellar chopped-up breaks to the mix. Both of these now classic and monumental tracks are included here, on this reissue, backed by the towering melodic workout that is 'Empirical Reality'. These tracks all stand tall today, a testament to the forward thinking style of Mr. Larkin. Remastered from his own source materials and with his full involvement, it's a pleasure to welcome 'Serena X' back into the ears and minds of today's listeners.
'Serena X' has been legitimately released with the full involvement of the rights holders and Atlantic Records and remastered by Bristol's Optimum Mastering from the original sources especially for this release. 100% legit, licensed and released. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at Mint Condition!

Vinyl Only Release! out of print since over 15 years and the tracks were not availlable on any digital platform Alter Ego Recordings - 029
Produced by Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke / Published by copyright control Mastered by Dubplates and Mastering, recut by Stefan Betke at Scape Mastering Berlin Alter Ego Recordings is very pleased, to rerelease this ACID JESUS classic, which is sounding just as fresh as it sounded, when it was released on KLANG ELEKTRONIK back in 1997. The record was out of print since over 15 years and the tracks were not availlable on any digital platform. Based on a very light, but striking ground construction, Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke leading their listeners over delicate fm-synthesis-sounds, minimal clonky bass patterns and snappy percussions to a long intermission breakdown, which reminds us of a starting Boeing 747. Where 'Interstate' plays like an inspired peakhour-jam should, 'Turkey Skank' and 'Hibernation Drive", on the b-side, take on cooler tones for a headier machine-funk ride. The record was played out by dj's like Andrew Weatherall, Matthew Herbert, Luke Slater, Baby Ford, Dj Hell, Ellen Allien, Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Michael Mayer etc.

Originally released on Rabbit City Records as a CD collection taken from the first batch of EP's on Rabbit City. Remastered and offered by Mike Wells on his own FMM imprint. Definitely one of my all time favourites from 1992, Force Mass Motions early work was very distinctive. A sound that owed a lot to how Mike Wells sourced a lot of his sounds. Listening to and taping Kiss FM and sampling it. With a home built sound card his brother made an Amiga was the centre of the studio. All the music was mixed down through an old Broadcast desk using a few clever delay line tricks that give the music a lot of depth. Very distinctive, totally original the music was caned by all the DJ's.

Originally released in 1996, the 6-track REMnants EP was only the second record produced by Morgan Geist for his own Environ label. Now beautifully remastered, this heretofore hard-to-find EP is crammed with Geist's early influences: from intricately-programmed Roland orchestras that echo his early techno releases on Metamorphic to jazz- and R&B- listening tracks that would later inform the sound of his debut album.

Re-issue of forgotten minimal techno abstraction from Hamilton, Ontario. The unsung genius of Secret Werewolf is fully on display on this 1996 gem.
Rubbery and polymetric, akin in mood to Robert Hood/Metroplex productions of the same era, but full of eerie metallic timbres and flexing grooves which combine into a lysergic hypnosis unlike anything else from then or now.
A taste of the forthcoming Geej re-issue project surveying the Steel City Records catalogue, a wellspring of unsung, singular dance music that arose from the abandoned industrial spaces and uncompromising producers of the fertile but secluded techno zone of Hamilton, Ontario Canada circa 1995-1997.

(incl. Joris Voorn remix) It's a brave artist who takes on the task of remixing what many would regard as a true 'Classic' record. Especially when said track holds it's own personal memories, having played it's part in shaping their own musical path. Green boss Joris Voorn has taken the plunge, by lending his skills to reworking 'Mengs Theme', a true Dutch techno classic from Secret Cinema's former alter ego, Point Blank.

Planet Rhythm kicks off another double pack project and this time the one and only Rotterdam techno governor Bas Mooy steps up, presenting a big time essential double pack, which techno lovers worldwide can't won't and shall not miss! Watch Mr Mooy team up with none other then Ortin Cam & Jeroen Liebregts and watch his tunes get the remix treatment by people like Dj Boss, A.Paul, Wavemother & Exium!
Either way essential status has already been reached by the A1 track, called 'White Pony'. Watch those hands rise towards the sky for this gruesome techno beast. Just watch the drop, then watch the people.. It will speak for itself. Dj Boss takes Bas's 'Bloedneus' to a whole new level. Feel the eastern vibes slam your face with its pounding subs and smashing kicks! 'Angstgegner' gets a straight up A.Paul rework, making it an even more terrifying track as it already was. Dark alley warehouse sounds all the way! Just when you thought.. Wheres the Bas... it starts hitting you on the B2 with 'Kadaver'. The man himself on a solo mission with some heftyness ready to fill up any arsenal that needs upgrading..
Record number 2 is no different.. By teaming up with partner in crime Jeroen Liebregts (aka 1/2 of Radial) they deliver warm beats, injected with some warehouse funk and fueled by industrial gasoline. A daring mixture with grand proportions. Wavemother takes on the 3rd remix in this series and boy, if you like some quality good ol techno, this is the one for you! who's your mommy The Mooy is back again on the D1 with some more of that gooooood ol techno sound! Feel the industrial vibe in this one. Something this guy is a king in doing, maintaining and moulding like its nothing! Hear the Kofferkuli Murder and you know we're right! Last but not least Exium steps up for the final remix treatment. The side may be called D2 but this could easely be the A1. Trance sounds sliced and diced like only those amazing spanish people can pull off! The digital release features 3 extra bonustracks, remixes by A. Paul, Diabla Diezco and Oliver Kucera.

Johnny L's classic gets the re-whisk from a solid set of UK bassheads... TIP!
At the tail-end of 2017, XL Recordings reissued Jonny L's seminal D&B album 'Sawtooth' on vinyl for the first time. A move that further cemented the record's game-changer status, DJ Mag hailed the record as being still the future', while Resident Advisor said 20 years later, Sawtooth still sounds like an outlier.'
So after showcasing this 20-year-old classic, XL Recordings are today releasing a 12' containing remixes of the most iconic track from the LP, 'Piper'. With efforts from Peverelist, Overmono, Powell and Zomby, these remixes go some way towards showing the influence Jonny L's music still has on a wide range of contemporary electronic artists.
In their own words:
Peverelist
I was 18 when 'Piper' came out. It was a time when drum and bass was evolving rapidly and tunes like 'Piper' were at the vanguard of that change. I remember there was red and green 10" versions of the single, the red one had the Grooverider mix on, a subtle reworking of the original. I could never figure out which I preferred. My remix is influenced by both, stark, mechanical, robotic and futuristic but rolling with a deep groove, hopefully I've retained that.
Overmono
There's so much gold on the XL back catalogue, but some of it shines more brightly than the rest. 'Piper' is one of those tracks that has genuinely stood the test of time - an understated classic.
Powell
I'll never forget the snap of that snare in the club and Piper's kind of rigid, uptight sense of funk. It was a huge tune for me. I was hooked on that whole stripped, ice cold, tech-steppin' sound — neurofunk as Simon Reynolds once called it. I wanted to explore that feeling of sleek, skeletal coldness in my remix. Huge tune (the original, not mine , ))
Zomby
Been dancing to his music since hurt u so came out

jubiläumsausgabe 10 years 4sale records !!!!!
That's it.

It's A Funny Old World, And Yet Again, The Black Dog Have Provided The Soundtrack. Our Fast-approaching Dystopia Has Been Envisioned And Documented By The Band For Decades. Now, The Black Dog's Two New Albums, Post -truth And Black Daisy Wheel, Translate Their Growing Horror Into Some Of Their Most Accessible And Impactful Music, Translating Our Manufactured Reality Into High Energy Dancefloor Constructions On Post -truth, And Reflective Ambient Excursions On Black Daisy Wheel. Long Familiar With The Tropes And Pitfalls Of Esoteric Undergrounds, In Both The Pre- And Post Internet Eras, The Black Dog Have Ventured Deep Into Contemporary Conspiratorial Cultures With A Trenchantly Critical Eye. In The 80s, Conspiracy Theories Were A Tonic For A Sceptical Mind, A Stimulant To Agile Thinking. Today, They Have Become The Stock In Trade Of Mainstream Political Influence. The Scene Has Morphed Into A Rabbit Hole Where Nothing Is 'really' Real, Everything Is A Hoax, And Everyone Is Out To Get You. The Mindset Is Beyond Paranoid, The Discourse So Far Post-fact That Only Opinion And Assumed Identity Matter. Arguing Against Proven Science Is A Part Of The Entry Criteria, And Wilful Pedantry Its Standard Currency. The Impact On Mental Health Is Corrosive: Fear, Uncertainty And Doubt Multiply And Replicate Until The Most Ridiculous Theories Are Invented To Explain The Most Basic Things: Tarmac, Banana Skins, Duvets. Auto-suggestion Is Rife, Where Willing Victims Drink Bleach (mms) At The Behest Of Youtube Videos, Flat-earthers Are Taken Seriously, And The Manufactured Fearful Believe They Are Being Gang-stalked For Finding Monsters On Pixelated Screens. The Distinction Between The Real World And The World Of An Auto-hoaxer Is So Blurred That Reality Melts Away; You're Only Ever One Personal Detail Away From Being Doxxed, At Which Point Reality Bites Back, Hard. You Couldn't Make It Up, Even Though That Is Exactly What The Conspiratorial Fringe (now One Sharp Corner From The Mainstream) Always Do. The Fact That There Are Real People Involved In This Scene Creates A Real Sense Of Pathos And Anger Which Is Deeply Embedded In The Music On These Two Albums. As Soon As You Start Engaging With People In The So-called 'truth Movement', One Minute It's Painful, But The Next Can Be Genuinely Funny; These Are People Who Are Both On Edge And Upon The Edge Of A Larger Social And Political Reality That, For Worse And For (even) Worse, Defines Our Times. Hence These Two Very Different Albums. Black Daisy Wheel Is Reflective, Often Intense, Frequently Compassionate; While Post -truth Was Written While The Black Dog Was Fully Engaged With People Whose Paranoia Was In Full Swing. Welcome To Our Disinformation.

The new Mojuba brings some fresh tunes from the always reliable Oracy. The title track 'Rewound' is a deep and warm excursion into the sound cosmos that was build on the heritage of Detroit and Chicago. The flipside is called 'Hold Me' and comes along as peak time cut with some hypnotic disco elements and a phat bassline to proof some serious floor qualities! That's how we like it!

3LP, 2CD + 27 Track Mp3 review on Acid Jesus, the first of many collaborations between Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke. Including 3 (+1 more on Mp3) unreleased tracks! Situated in Germany's then blistering techno scene and especially a mirror of Frankfurt at the time (and it´s holy label trinity of Playhouse, Klang and Ongaku), Flashbacks are also a feedback loop to what was happening in the UK and the USA. Flügel and Wuttke succeeded with their own and unique take on it, that owned as much to Underground Resistance and the Belleville Three as it did to Sven Väth and Andrew Weatherall.

It's safe to say that Terence Fixmer's track "Aktion Mekanik Theme", originally released on Music Man in 2003, was as much a landmark release for techno as the whole Aktion Mekanik compilation was for EBM as a genre. "As an artist who's been pushing EBM sounds into the modernity of Techno it was a logical step to do the compilation back then," Terence says. "I wanted to show my influences as a Techno artist, as Detroit sounds weren't my roots at all, but classics by Front 242, Fad Gadget, Nitzer Ebb, Crash Course In Science or Snowy Red.
I met Music Man's Stefaan Vandenberghe through Emmanuel Top in '93, and of course I was a fan of his label. Music Man was obviously the perfect place for this EBM project: they are from Belgium, they knew the bands, many of them were proud of this sound. So I discussed my idea of putting out a compilation with some classic and landmark tracks from the EBM direction with Stefaan, and it got made."
While Ostgut Ton now releases three new versions of "Aktion Mekanik Theme" by Kobosil, Norman Nodge & Marcel Dettmann, Music Man now reissues the original version on red 12" vinyl.

* Throughout the 90's, DJ Bone was one of Detroit's best kept secrets. Releasing only a handful of 12 inches, Bone's eclectic and fast mixing style became popular in his home town, starting with his weekly residency at The Love Club, and gaining more all over Detroit 5 nights a week, as well as fortnightly live sets on Deep Space Radio.* In 1996, Laurent Garnier witnessed him DJing, and invited him to play in Paris' legendary Rex Club - a 12" for Juan Atkins' Metroplex soon followed, with a Peel Session, and his 'Subject:Detroit Volume 2' mix CD being distributed worldwide helping to establish him globally as a force in Detroit techno.* Anotherday are very proud to announce the reissue of that legendary Metroplex 12"; 'Riding The Thin Line'. From the sweeping strings and tribal loops of 'Shut The Lites Off', to the hissing bassy electro of 'The Funk' and woozy techno of 'The Haunting', this is DJ Bone at the peak of his powers.

'Macht Macht Zement'—what does it mean 80s drums, synths and vocals, almost without context. Fallbeil, two soon-to-be men (aka boys), finish tracks at the rate of butchers kneading meatballs. Due to laziness and a lack of technique, everything gets recorded on one track and immediately thrown into the frier. Nothing is planned. First up, school detention followed by rough LoFi rap.The album contains a wide variety of themes, from mailmen to warthogs, from latecomers to sensible conversation, every track is created out of spontaneity. Two very short tracks on this album date back to 1999, when the boys performed as 'Funky Granatos' in the local youth centers. Sadly, their performances weren't successful. Nobody wanted to listen to them and almost every concert ended in mass brawls. The track 'Postman' comes from the duo's side project Grand Malheur and was recorded in 2015 in Bronxfeld. More output from this project will appear on various EPs in the near future. The album title 'Macht Macht Zement' originates from Tom Pötgen. Tom always wanted to throw the sacred hand grenades. We hope he does that right now!

Manhattan to Berlin
Our story has touchstones in Detroit, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Berlin, but it begins with some prophetic foreshadowing in a midnight Manhattan car ride. It was a cold winter night in early 2006, and Dave Sumner, better known as Function, wanted to show me what inspired him, so we got in his car and drove around the perimeter of Manhattan. From the financial district to Harlem, all the city lights, rivers, bridges, and even giant buildings shrunk in comparison to the sounds we were listening to. Dave had found a new path in techno, and as he obsessively talked about the British Murder Boys and the work of Mika Vainio, he focused in on his latest influence: Sleeparchive. As we were listening to a recent Sleeparchive live show, we were basically freaking out at how clearly you could hear the reflected influences, but really how fresh and innovative it felt. Elements of Plastikman's take on jacking raw rhythms collided with Sähkö bleeps for a powerful post-Jeff Mills form of techno. It was acid without acid. Finally a way forward.
The next year on a humid summer night in Berlin, Dave and Karl O'Connor, better known as Regis, were sitting with their laptops back to back at 2 am in his apartment. 'They were set up Battleship style, it was like the cover to Upstairs at Eric's,' recalls Dave. He was playing Karl selections of his new music when Karl stopped him and said, 'This is your new record.' They worked through the night and within a day the record was done; Dave was so inspired he decided to move there, to 'techno Mecca.' He returned to NYC to get ready, and three months later, on the day he moved to Berlin, his record was released as Isolation on Sandwell District and was named DJ Magazine's 12 Inch of the Month. He then set up his studio in the warehouse of Tony Vieira, who had run Integrale Muzique with Karl, and is literally surrounded by records. He makes his new records with those records doubling as his soundproofing and audience.
Sandwell District
Sandwell District is a literal place — the Black Country — where the industrial revolution began. It's one of the many Dadaesque references in the Integrale catalog. The whole thing has this major punk DIY spirit, best characterized by the line from the Desperate Bicycles: 'it was easy, it was cheap, go and do it!'
Sandwell District quickly evolved from a label into a music project with a distinctly egoless and mysterious approach. They functioned around the motto of 'Decentralizing the artist ego, blurring the lines between the artist, label and DJ; re-arranging the DNA of modern dance music.'
The first record on Sandwell was by Regis, followed by records from Juan Mendez as Silent Servant and Dave as Function; soon they would all release collectively. Sandwell District was a more mature response, the second stage of a career with the disparate influences absorbed, digested, and slowed down, yet somehow more emotional. The combined musical knowledge of these three was magic; all bases were covered. Juan created the powerful visual language of Sandwell and was the glue, while Karl and Dave became the engine driving Sandwell District live.
Sandwell peaked with some legendary live shows, from closing the mainstage at Sonar to playing the Park Hill Flats in Sheffield for Black Dog, with Cabaret Voltaire's Richard H Kirk pogoing onstage during the performance. Later, Rrose would become an integral part of Sandwell, right before they broke up at the height of their popularity, in the spirit of their heroes Big Black. 'It was a glorious death, not a mercy killing, as is so often the case in these situations,' Sandwell said through a statement from Silent Servant. Dave then went on to record his debut solo album Incubation for Ostgut Ton and revived Infrastructure.
The Next Phase
Sometimes the only way forward is to look backwards. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it, as the saying goes. So what you hold in your hands, Recompiled I/II & II/II, is an attempt to understand what has happened and to liberate the artist from the burden of their own oeuvre.
Moving forward, Function is still connecting the dots with his DJing around the globe, with residencies at Berghain in Berlin and Bassani in Tbilisi, Georgia. Collaborations with techno super heroes continue, in projects like LSD with Luke Slater and Steve Bicknell and his work with Damon Wild. Who knows what the future holds New music, new collaborations, new developments in sound — places for new ideas to thrive.
In Detroit, we wanted to see society evolve; Detroit Techno was about the future. Techno at Berghain is about losing yourself; it's about personal freedom. Function has created the perfect soundtrack for that experience. 'Techno is reflective,' according to Dave. 'It taps into another emotion that nothing else gives me.'
Words by Brendan M. Gillen, Interdimensional Transmissions, Detroit, 2017.

Future Shock
Once a cathedral, now a mall, Limelight was last in the line of Manhattan clubs whose lineage could be traced back to New York's fertile club era of the '70s and '80s, which included the East Village punk and no wave scenes, the Mudd Club, Danceteria and the Paradise Garage. It's connected to a storied New York history - sometimes holy, sometimes notorious. It's the last era of mob influence. The spirit of Andy Warhol's Factory still alive in each club kid's self-made costume. A lot of things that were worlds apart met in that deconsecrated Episcopal church,' recalls David Sumner. I used to practically live in that club, going two or three nights a week for years. I knew this was what I was going to do with the rest of my life.'
In many ways Limelight was America's raveincubator. On a New Music Seminar night in Julyof 1992, the revolution was about to take hold. Walking in, I didn't know what was going on.Then I started to see xeroxed UndergroundResistance 8 1/2 x 11s all around the club, like thekind of inserts that came inside their EPs,' Daverecalls. He would go on to see Mike Banks, Rob Noise' Hood, and Jeff Mills perform for an electrified crowd as UR. That night straight up changed my life.'
Jeff Mills held his first residency at Lord Michael's Future Shock, Friday nights at Limelight, and you can feel the seeds of influence in Function's sound. In fact it sometimes feels like he's imagining the DJ booth at Limelight in his own productions, a place where you could find Beltram, Adam X, Program 2, Damon Wild, Patrick Pulsinger, Abe Duque, and even DJ Hell. The first time I heard Jeff Mills play 'Der Klang Der Familie' there I cried. I was totally captivated.'
251 West 30th Street
With the burning desire to make music, Dave got a job at the best gear store in the city, Rogue Music. Rogue was then located on the 10th floor of The Music Building. He was able to rent a loft on the 15th floor of the building above the practice studios, with panoramic views of Madison Square Garden on one side, and the Empire State on the other. Even living this close to work, he still managed to get fired for being late.
At the store he worked with Dennis Ferrer, who helped Damon Wild with Synewave, where Dave would release his debut record. He recalls watching Dennis meet Kerri Chandler, and receiving KRS-One's SP-1200, taking it back to the work bench and saying to his friend this machine is BDP!'
Shortly after, a chance meeting would alter the trajectory of his life. The New Brunswick, New Jersey store Planet X had asked Sumner to host Karl O'Connor, who was set to play in Philadelphia as Regis. Karl had come to town with two of his best friends he'd grown up with, Richard Harvey and Peter Sutton. They all became fast friends, bonding quickly over music and jamming endlessly in his 15th floor loft overlooking the city. Out of these sessions a new collaboration between Karl and Dave would take form, Portion Reform. This would become Sandwell version one. Dave became the first American on the legendary Birmingham, UK- based Downwards label, on a roster with Regis and Surgeon, eventually becoming the Downwards tour DJ.
Towers of Influence
The two DJs that made the greatest impact on me are Jeff Mills and Adam X. The first time I saw Adam play he had his hood up over his head, playing a Storm Rave at 5 in the morning, opening with Mike Dunn's 'The Pressure Cooker.'' Dave regularly frequented Groove Records out in Bensonhurst, and later when they opened in Manhattan as Sonic Groove. He describes the experience as the Brooklyn version of intimidating, not the Kreuzberg version,' calling Sonic Groove the Hard Wax of New York.
New York itself is a major influence for Dave, as is its history of clubs - from discos and house music, to techno and raves. Think of Todd Terry's 1988 Black Riot record or Boyd Jarvis' 1983 release 'The Music Got Me' as milestones on this journey. It's a DJ's approach to music. I remember in the early '90s when the music was changing so rapidly and it felt so revolutionary, separating my records into piles and thinking 'I need more of this - there needs to be more of this kind of record.''
It's passion that drives this story of a life in music, and it's a desire to blow your mind the same way his inspirations blew his. Function is always innovating and finding new ways to connect the dots, to continually pursue the art of storytelling through giant slabs of sound.

2 tracks of a pure Oldschool music...
A solid kick to groove in the spirit of Ptit Gris old school sound...
Redge plays with the loops, and brings some bizarre vocals, some acid diamonds sparkling the ears, many effects... An evolution to trip the sound while the beat carry a tribal sensation. Probably a 69 DB inspired connection...
The B-side slowdown the story, techno tribe 140 BPM newskool... very mental and creepy... with the same tribe beat as the first side. Mental and very acid at the end ! FAT !
Clear Vinyl
Expanded Edition of Regis' long out of print game-changing debut album.
The Brummie techno blueprint
Re-built from original stems & includes new studio versions and
unreleased sequences
New reworked artwork (original featured the Twin Towers
photographed in 1996)
2LP remastered and cut by Matt Colton.
For the 21st anniversary of Regis' pivotal debut album, the Brum techno overlord has remade the scene of the crime from original stems and salvaged 8-tracks tapes. The unyielding results
effectively present a doctored version of his seminal - some may say game-changing - record, featuring new studio versions and unreleased sequences. It's basically a stronger, fitter version of
his most prized LP, loaded with sounds as brutally functional as the city which birthed them,
Originally recorded in September 1996 in Room 406, Digbeth, Birmingham aka Scorn's studio - sandwiched between Tony De Vit and Broadcast's recording spaces - Regis used 1 drum machine, 1 synth, and 1 FX unit to nail home a back-to-basics approach to techno; one inspired as much by the direct immediacy of Chicago house as the febrile DJ sets of Jeff Mills, but also drawing a crucial X factor from his background as a bit of hooligan, with form in a number of post-industrial, EBM and
punk units.
When Gymnastics first hit the 'floor it was considered shocking anathema to the swell of manicured, proggy arrangements which were by then dominating the spotlight of British dance in clubs and the media. It was loopy, stripped to the bone and shark-eyed, always moving forward and without the faintest recourse to melody or harmony - simply revelling in the gnashing tension and swerve of raw, clattering drum machines and monophonic synth jabs. Big Beat or trance it fucking well wasn't. 21 years later its lip-biting force is now felt stronger than ever. From the grumbling refusal of We Said No and the austere wall-banger Allies that boot off the album, thru the 16th note nag of Translation to the rictus jag of Sand and The Black Freighter's metallic bite, this is timeless, primal dance music that still causes friction wherever it's deployed.
James Brown is dead. Long live Regis.

His first Biosphere releases were the 12-inch single "The Fairy Tale" and the album Microgravity, both of which were rejected by SSR as unmarketable.(1) Microgravity was released in 1991 on the Norwegian label Origo Sound, and saw wider release via the R&S Records subsidiary Apollo in 1992, to much critical acclaim.

Re-mastered by Matt Colton from the original DAT tape
Originally released on vinyl R&S in 1994, 'Meditation Will Manifest' was re-earthed in 2016 by Nina Kraviz and Ricardo Villalobos, becoming a secret weapon on dancefloors 22 years after its original release.
Josh Wink has always been ahead of musical trends and walks his own path in dance music. From a young age Wink was exposed to different mysticism and consciousness philosophies. 'It wasn't a big, popular or trendy thing to do at the time, but I was 14 and just did what my mother did... Releasing tracks like 'Meditation Will Manifest' and 'Higher States of Consciousness', people looked at me as being this deeply profound spiritual guy, but I never really thought about it in that way, even though I'm really into repetitive, transcendental and meditative rhythms. I don't do drugs, so I never really had another outlet to get into alternative states.' - Josh Wink (taken from recent Mixmag article).
''Meditation Will Manifest' is quite rightly regarded as a classic track in the R&S catalogue. It's one of the finest examples of acid house that we've released in our 30-year existence and it still sounds fresh today. We're so glad that the original DAT tape has been found and that a whole new generation can experience it.' - R&S
'It is exciting to see that a track that I made over 20 years ago is touching so many people once again. With DJs like Nina and Ricardo playing it recently, people have been wondering what it was... It makes me happy that the track still sounds relevant and still does its damage on the dance floor. We got in touch with the guys at R&S and decided to remaster the original and release it, as it has never been released digitally. Luckily I was able to my find the original DAT in the studio and we were able to make this happen." - Josh Wink

Erol Alkan lights the fire when he first played « ROSS ROSS ROSS » in his Essential mix. This track became a must have. It's been almost 6 months... Since then, SEBASTIAN droped a dozen of remixes. Uffie, Kelis, Daft Punk, Mylo, Editors, Kavinsky and more got the SEBASTIAN treatment. Then he concentrated on his own productions to deliver 2 monsters. The dramatico-cut up beat « HEAD/OFF » & the club banger « WALKMAN ». Those tracks have already been tested by the whole Ed Rec crew. « WALKMAN » was the pick time of Ed Banger x Vice party at Sonar this year. SEBASTIAN will release his first album in 2007.

Essential repress of Terrence Dixon's debut album and first release on Tresor.
Initially released in 2000, this new edition comes with a bonus 7' vinyl featuring two previously uncut tracks: ' What Up' and 'Shuffle All Circuits'.
From The Far Future embodies a specific and vital time of Detroit's techno production, going hand in hand with Juan Atkins' work as Infiniti, Terrence Dixon signed this album with a masterful hand.

Compilation of remastered tracks from the defunct Scorp label, operated from 2000 to 2004 by Steve Rachmad. Includes one unreleased track from the same period.
Steve Rachmad's extensive collection of projects over the years has provided a wealth of inspiration in its many forms. Although much of Rachmad's music has been influential on the development of Token from the beginning, there is one body of work in particular that encapsulates the essence of the label, in a classic and inimitable form.
Scorp was a self-contained label project operating between 2000 and 2004. Although not the best known of Rachmad's many aliases, its importance was not overlooked by discerning tastemakers at the forefront of the techno movement at the time.
Token 66 contains nine tracks in total selected from these releases, plus one track previously unreleased from the same period. All of the music has been remastered and will be available digitally for the first time as well as on a 3LP vinyl compilation.
These ten tracks clearly demonstrate Token's alignment with this classic sound, exhibiting Rachmad's mathematical precision in employing bare-bones percussion to captivate, doing away with the formality of a lengthy introduction and urging a hypnotic state with immediate effect.

The third release on Pooledmusic's techno-focused sister imprint Montage welcomes back Silvershower, revisiting the debut release of Ian Pooley's techno alias on its 20th anniversary. The original Ice Fractions 1 EP arrived on Plus 8 Records when Richie Hawtin & John Aquqaviva's legendary label was at the height of its powers, and showcased a tougher edge to Pooley's productions. Two decades later Pooley is still maintaining his high standards, revisiting and updating past work in the form of reissues & remixes and issuing fresh original material such as his recent Turakina EP on Pooledmusic and the return of Silvershower last year. which marked Montage's launch This new edition of the first Ice Fractions 12 supplies the two original lead tracks and an updated 2016 remix of each by Pooley himself, satisfying both those aiming for the vintage 1996 techno sound, and those looking for a punchy update for modern techno cathedrals.
Don't has dug deep into the history of electronic dance music and now brings you two of the finest 1988 Belgian New Beat tracks that set
imaginations on fire back in the day... Remastered, and STRICTLY limited to 300 copies with no repress, This... is New Beat !
