Dj Hell - I Want U

The legendary DJ unleashes the first single from his forthcoming fifth studio album 'ZUKUNFTSMUSIK'. It's arguably one of his deepest marriages of music and art to date...
Collaborating with Tom Of Finland Foundation, the LA-based celebrants of queer culture's most iconic illustrators, Hell's gritty, grainy, sweaty single pays homage to electronic music's deepest,
longest standing roots. The era where Paradise Garage and The Warehouse and DJs such as Hardy and Levan threw down then-unclassifiable fusions to the most multicultural, multisexual dancefloors in history. Hell's first single in well over a year, 'I Want U' throbs and thrusts with in-the-moment physical tension. Unhurried and extensive in its 11+ minute arrangement, it's every bit as deep and as long as you'd want such a session to be with its rush-riddled breakdown that dips deep under the skin with lavish emotional chord changes and peaked atmospherics.
A celebration of gay culture, an homage to purist analog-driven proto techno, a statement for what's shaping up to be yet another exceptional album from the hugely influential International Deejay
Gigolos founder, 'I Want U' comes complete with two startling remixes: the legend that is The Hacker accentuates the grit and crunchy EBM charm of the original with an all-out exercise in sonic horsepower while Hell's selector kindred spirit and all-round robot-rustling icon Martin Matiske provides a whirlwind trip back to another foundation era for electronic music with b-boy-busting
electro boogie spectacular.

Trust us, you're going to want all three. And thankfully you'll get all three right here. Let us know what you think!

Dais Records

ADULT. '20 years ODD.'
Over the course of the last two decades, Detroit-based duo ADULT. (Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller) have released six albums and nineteen EPs and singles across some of our favorite labels: Mute, Ghostly International, Thrill Jockey, Clone Records, Third Man Records, and their own label, the revered Ersatz Audio. November 1998 marked their first release: the five-song 12" 'Dispassionate Furniture'. This September, twenty years later, Dais Records is proud to announce ADULT.'s seventh full length album: THIS BEHAVIOR.
The album began as 23 demos written and recorded in a remote cabin in the woods of Northern Michigan during the dead of winter. In total isolation, and with a reduced amount of gear (a modified version of their live setup) on the cabin's kitchen table, the duo were completely immersed in an incessant inescapable studio of their own making - looping, repetitive analogue sequences grinding away day and night. At the end of the intense demo session, a handful of peers were enlisted by the band for the difficult task of paring down the demos into the final album.

The result is 10 tracks of uncompromising dark electronics, showcasing ADULT.'s return to aggressive and energetic dancefloor mastery. Album opener 'This Behavior' alongside the follow-up 'Violent Shakes' (which ascends into synths wailing like warning sirens over Kuperus's commanding vocals) set the stage for an on-edge listen, while the heartbreaking 'Silent Exchange' unfolds as a beautiful sad synth dirge.  'Perversions of Humankind' breaks the mood - driving the listener into a slow and low groove before the frantic album midpoint of 'Irregular Pleasure'. 'Does The Body Know' is the album's post-punk anthem, with irresistible singalong 'we're out of order - we're undefined!' The latter half of the album drives forward with 'On The Edge (You Put Me...)' and 'Lick Out The Content', refusing rest and demanding movement and response. 'Everything & Nothing' emerges slowly from sparkling synth textures, snowballing with nervous energy into an acid techno stomper before the album comes to a close on the icy landscape of 'In All The Debris', a goose-bump inducing slow electronic mantra that closes the curtain on a massive album.

Artist statement on the album's writing process:
'It's confounding how often we negate the importance of disconnecting, getting weird, getting lost. Discomfort and joy intertwined. Day to day, theatrical self-presentation set to rest in our frantic social world. Public becomes private, almost too private. Looking out into frozen woods as you deliver your vocals. For who For what Taking walks along icy shorelines as you try to overcome writer's block, as you try to overcome yourself. Not seeing anyone for days and weeks on end. Overwhelming thoughts and feelings come rushing in; anxiety, fear, purpose, banality, futility of task, power structures, power struggles, pointlessness, collapse. You're faced to face yourself. Your awareness is heightened. You are neither here nor there. You are in a liminal state As you work in this isolated cabin your windows become mirrors.'

"Are we distortions. Are we distortions, perversions of humankind. Are we distortions. Are we distortions, twisted somewhere in time."

Delta Funktionen - Junior High School Excursion To The Parallel World

After the analog-retro-MS-Dos spirit of the 2015 Wasteland project, Delta Funktionen returns with a new journey directly forward to - or from - the parallel world! Presented on 2x12" inches on his own Radio Matrix imprint, it sees Niels Luinenburg handling his trademark techno-electro sound: strong beats combined with futuristic sounds and atmospheres. Whether the beats are broken or straight up four to the floor, the atmosphere always has the vibe of an interstellar journey and a melancholy of longing for better worlds. Where the tracks on the first disc focus on lush melodies on top of rounded grooves, the second disc sees a more rough and somewhat abstract side of Delta Funktionen.

Seeing From Above

05.07.2018

Karl O'Connor (Regis) revives his cult CUB project with Simon Shreeve (Mønic) now in tow for three stripes of dark and dead sexy techno rolige
Where O'Connor's original pair of CUB 12's worked at an unusual 113bpm flow, and included killer remixes with Ancient Methods under their Ugandan Speed Trials (UST) alias, the project's 3rd outing features a reshuffled personnel and a broader range of tempos while remaining true to the original, grungy CUB aesthetic. A-side, with D&B-turned-techno producer Simon Shreeve on board, the pair push the gauge to 125bpm on Seeing From Above for a proper, roguish shoulder barger activating reinforced drums and sloshing, syncopated bass into a nightmarish, un-safe space ripe for the dancers.
B-side, they return to the project's slower tempos with the grumbling subsidence of Informal Beauty exploring a sagging rut of prolapsed bass below aching blue drones, and Primitive Sleep finds them all hands on deck for a dry, scaly, and stony-faced drill
that sounds like the Regis remix of Ike Yard's Loss that just found itself in a Berlin or NYC darkroom and doesn't quite know how it got there.

Induction - Liturgical Hymns

Induction

Liturgical Hymns

12inchRWS001
Ravage
07.10.2015

Ravage are happy to announce that rising Dutch talent, Daniel te Boekhorst aka INDUCTION, will take centre stage as the first artist to release on the label with 'Liturgical Hymns', the first in our Ravage White Series.Surrounded by music in his youth and having learned piano at an early age, Induction's play things were eventually set aside and replaced by his fathers analogue hardware and synthesizers. It was in the blood. His sound A heady concoction of electronica that ranges from deep, melodic and groovy to more urgent and harder realms.A fresh face and name for the scene but one that is destined for great things, all starting right here with RWS001 - 'Liturgical Hymns'.
Track description: The EP comes to life with 'Epitrachelion', its gradual beginnings, packed with minor tonal atmosphere and estranged melody - seep into earshot, a cosmic transmission that grows in intensity with each bar. With progressive synth lines crossing paths with the melodies, this beat-less ascension into futurist electronica radiates and warms the listener as it prepares for it's next transmission. Autocephalous Signs, meanwhile, couldn't be further from the collections humble, gentle beginnings; this beats awakens with a solid, pounding kick drum, while more delicate, glassy synth melodies are carefully juxtaposed with an unrelenting machine rhythm, evoking the spirit of early Jeff Mills and his intersection between man and machine. Analogue, dusty and muscular, it's a hypnotic blast that remains unrelenting to it's very last note. On the flip, The Profit of My Sense brings chiming melodies that dip and trough around interwoven double time beats, pumped up and given stamina by a solid, bass loaded kick drum. Further down the line, 'Astronomical Spectra' is informed by a melody driven rhythm, doused and coated in acid techno bleeps and strains, while clapping 808's create layer upon layer of groove and rhythm, while each part is stacked on top of one another in a metronomic template, reproducing memories of Robert Hood's Minimal Nation in the process. Wrapping up this promising EP comes Theological Explanation, an electro-popping track that pounds with life as a flanged bassline oscillates into the fold, while synth riffs and organ stabs build up the intensity, released gradually as break-beats and vocal chants are woven into the mix, creatinga dynamic and multi tempo finishing cut for this outer-worldly EP.

Grim Lusk - SUNLP0101

Grim Lusk

SUNLP0101

12inchDEX004
Domestic Exile
31.07.2018

Next up we'll be switching the format and presenting to you our first ever vinyl release. We're absolutely thrilled that Grim Lusk will be bestowed with that honour, and we couldn't be any more proud. For those who are already familiar with Grim Lusk's varied recording projects, established elements are further developed as sublimely demonstrated on the sample and loop based 'Search', a dub / lo-fi hip-hop excursion that shuffles and shimmers before becoming more narcotically lysergic. Free from constraints, we transcend into 'It's My Nature', as all of that serotonin depletion is suddenly transformed into nutritional sustenance. A gleaming, hallucinogenic, hypnotic collage of exotic rhythmic disco percussion patterns which blossom and take flight to the sky above like the wildlife on the front sleeve with uninhabited adventure and freedom; a luscious, evocative, beguiling anomaly. 'Sea Club-Rush' develops the experimental shape shifting, with a dense, sludgy quagmire of oddball techno discombobulations, before the record submerges into the deepest of voids, a k-hole induced sense of purposeful confusion and disorientation.
Depressurized as if drifting in the mysterious vacuum of space whilst subtle layers of distorted bass prod at you to keep you afloat, 'It's Happening' utilises a descending Risset glissando to leave you barely clinging on to reality, almost as if you are experiencing an astral projection but trapped within a detached nightmare that you can't escape. 'Yes He Did' has an infectious and killer bouncing boogie bass guitar spread over a lopsided beat which never quite settles; weaving in and out further bewitching your mind. The record culminates in the downtempo 'Laces', pulling you into the all-consuming squelch and pressure of the suction below; a claustrophobic suffocation that intensely builds up suspense, squeezing and melting as it develops. Reminiscent of Sherwood's exceptional technique of incisively slicing, cutting and pasting manipulated dub / industrial percussion, 'Laces' works equally well at 45rpm. In its fullness, the sounds presented on 'SUNP0101' are an intoxicating slip down a neon-lined chute into eternal dance floor darkness. Immaculate sleeve artwork by Australian-born, London-based designer Brodie Kaman.

For the second release on null+void Recordings I'm extremely happy to present four tracks from L-R, a collaborative project between Keith Tenniswood (Radioactive Man), Simon Lynch (London Modular Alliance) and Johnny Oakley (Monoak / Freerotation). Three friends and artists whose music I've enjoyed and admired for many years.

The group have been working together regularly in the beautifully equipped Curvepusher Studio (with the addition of Simon's modular elements) over the last 18 months and over these sessions worked up a sound that brings in a striking combination of elements from each producer's own distinct pallets. At times brutal and others sublime, this EP works out at the higher end of BPM covering electro and techno territories.

ADSX with Hanoben - Phone Sex

Two Berlin underdogs and a Detroit ravemaster. A driving force in the very early Frankfurt electronics since the late 80s, to hardcore acid in Brooklyn in the early 90s, producing legends as Carlos Peron among many others along his way, ADSX aka Andre Fischer might sound new to many but has been an active part of the underground electronic movement for the last 30 years. Benji DF aka Hanoben is no newbie to the scene either and might have soundtracked your night if you were to be found at clubs like Tresor or Snax in the late 90s. Together they recorded an ode to aural sex, its acid counterpart, and a genius sketch of a club banger. When label honcho Capablanca heard the latter had little doubts about commissioning an extended mix to Motor City's Special Forces Gen. Sharif Laffrey aka thee Activator, who needs little introduction to the discerning raver ears as the man behind instant acid classics Turn It Up and Always, among others. After countless studio days and nights and endless versions (we stopped counting at 56th) Sharif delivers what is possibly his best work to date, an unstoppable 12 minute dancefloor annihilator. To wrap such special release we asked legend Alan Oldham aka UR's Minister of Information aka DJ T-1000, (also responsible for label designs for Transmat, Djax, Submerge, Pure Sonik and a long etcetera) to create one of his classic artworks. Capablanca deconstructs his center pieces for the fully printed sleeve, and everybody S.C.R.E.A.M.

SQUIRRELS ON FILM
26.04.2018

Distortion, static electricity & drum machines turned up to eleven, your next Punk-E Rave Party can be appropriately soundtracked with SQUIRRELS ON FILM's 3rd (or 4th, who's counting) EP, ready to de-sanitize any dancefloor prepared for the adventures in sweat-drenched HEAVY RAVING contained within.
Label Headz Solar & C.l.a.w.s. reach beyond their hometown of San Francisco, to Mexico City's Yoan Rodriguez LOKIER. Her first full EP for the label, following the appearance of Headless' on the limited edition Various Squirrels Volume Two, contains four tracks of enthrallingly unkempt body music & neo-goth techno depravity. The Artist & DJ currently based in Berlin is half of She Made Monster with Morgan Hammer, & her remix work appears on Throne of Blood, Ivan Smagghe's Les Disques de la Mort & elsewhere.

Last One' is first, a gritty workout in horror rave, all overdriven drums, intricately programed to build alongside arpeggiated synth bass and slasher flick strings, at once classic and contemporary. Not Always Works' is sleazier yet, featuring LOKIER's distinctive dead-pan distorted vocals, heard recently on Krikor's LP for L.I.E.S., put to great effect here atop an ear-worm synth riff and again expertly programed drums, never afraid to bleed into the red. Atonal, yet bizarrely melodic strings and pads drift confidently above. Tmrrw' makes use of vocal samples over a pummeling industrial techno explosion... like a Nitzer Ebb cassette that's been duplicated too many times, turned up way too loud, with an angry goth banshee queen telling it like it is through a broken fuzzbox. What Is Truth' rounds things off in the murky dub/electro bog of your most lucid nightmares, the drums and synths awash in tape echo and reverb.

LOKIER's music sits perfectly within SQUIRRELS ON FILM's left of center techno punk aesthetic, albeit with clear intentions on the feral dystopian dance party happening near you. SOF is very excited and honored to unleash this wild squirrel into the civilized world, packaged inside another eye-catching, original hand-drawn full color sleeve by New York artist Bert Bergen. It should be clear by now: SQUIRRELS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN.

Slowglide - Reigi / Haipa

Slowglide

Reigi / Haipa

12inchATN041
Antinote
12.04.2018

The 12' you're about to read a few lines about is a laconic introduction to the music of an elusive new musician on Antinote. Biographical details about him would probably not help comprehend his music and might even seem slightly contradictory with the music itself, as Reigi / Haipa has been produced in Reims - at least, it would have been much more accommodating if the capital of Champagne was located somewhere in-between Sheffield and London...
.
Indeed, at first listen, Slowglide's music seems deeply rooted in a very British history of dance music. Reigi, on the A-side, unfolds a cavernous syncopated kick on which relies a compressed, flangered, smart but somehow handcrafted sound with an extra Kraftwerkian treatment (the obsessive robotic arigato gozaimasu' and the pocket calculator' bleeping melodic line), enlightened by discreet synth waves appearing in the middle of the track.

Haipa, the atmospheric B-side, is an even stronger throwback to a time when Intelligent Dance Music was ruling over electronic music, the likes of Aphex Twin and his fellow Warp-affiliates were about to be crowned kings and Ghost In The Shell was establishing itself as one of the most culturally significant pictures of the late past century.

Slowglide's music is not backward-looking, though. There's something that relevantly resonates with today's diffracted musical landscape, as the French producer gathers and updates bits and pieces from a thirty-andsomething yearlong history of electronic dance music. The result is probably Bass Music', something that one might have been tempted to describe as the future of Dance Music' a few decades ago - to quote these prophetic words written many times. It's probably not, but these two songs are certainly fresh and futuristic.

Anthony Rother - *4* Fire Viber / Invader

Tivoli Trax started as a Multiplex series paying tribute to local artists connected to Kong's Mantra night club, while it was based in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens. The first 1996 EP was followed in '97 by Vol. 2 and finally by a 12 track CD compilation in '98. In 2018 we are bringing back this iconic tribute to amazing Copenhagen based producers with Tivoli Trax vol. 3!
.
To bridge the twenty years gap, the first track is an original Hüebsch Originators production from '98. This deep techno track was released on the Tivoli Trax CD, and we are delighted to finally be able to present it on wax. The duo also released the Evanouir EP on Multiplex in '97. Secondly we have the beautiful Bodies by Vassdrag, a Norwegian word for a river system and the Multiplex alias of a well-known Copenhagen producer, who's been releasing on a quintessential techno imprint since 2010.

B From E aka. Frej Levin, a rising star on the Danish scene and known for releases on Copenhagen Underground Posse and Tartelet Records, delivers classic, atmospheric, deep house in the form of No Memory. The last track is Nightwave by Dennis Uprock, better known as dub-techno producer Resoe of Baum Records, Echocord and Pattern Repeat. A prolific producer of multiple genres. He has used his Uprock moniker when playing house music since the mid-90s.

Playful & boyent electronics in a romantic den haagy type haze...right up our street.. TIP!
The label say: "I've know Billy Werner aka M//R now for about 20 years, him being from Whitestone, Queens myself right next door in Long Island.

Through time i've seen him go through many different metamorphosis's in his musical life, his M//R project being the latest incarnation.

Having previously released his debut ep on the amazing Great Circles label (as Werner has called Philly his home for the last 8 years..or more) in 2014, those who heard it knew he was up to something serious. With this release for L.I.E.S. M//R delivers the goods through 4 stylistically diverse tracks we see him move through techno, electro, slow beat head nod cuts, and psychedelic broken beat UK cut ups. Usually a record of such would be a head spinning genre disaster of ransom note proportions but M//R pulls it off with style and power, each track strongly standing out on it's own, each with its own true character. A producer to watch out for, don't get caught out there."

S. English - General Dimensions LP

American experimental musican Shane English continues in a long tradition of outsider electronics as he's been humbly prolific in his output though the years involving himself in numerous recording projects.Collaborating with Jonah Lange in their group Corporate Park as well as an ongoing collab with Beau Wanzer (seeing a release last year under the CP/BW name), English now commits his second full length solo offering to vinyl in the form of the General Dimensions lp.Sparse machine driven electronics dominate the recording providing a back drop for the occasional pulsating rhythm, metallic clank or floating obscured vocal. While it is a dark and sparse affair there is a quiet downtrodden beauty throughout giving the recording a sense of uncertain serenity in an almost shoegazey way. Highly recommended for those into early electronics.

2x12"

Hello, I am Qnete and these are my Play-Doh Stories. Some of them are already three years old and it feels like I've become somewhat of a different person since then. Still, I like to listen to them from time to time, thinking of how I was back then, reminding me of what helped shape me, what helped me become who I am now. Sometimes, I also get the feeling that it is not me who wrote the stories. They seem to seem unknown to me, just like they seem to you, because you are not me. Then I listen, and I know again.
