Shinoby - Sensory Deprivation Tank Ep W/ Madteo, Tzusing & Samo Dj Remixes

Shinoby is back!

Another 2 tracks from this new italian producer/dj, from house to techno via raw sounds, his new "Sensory Deprivation Tank EP" is now ready. The track A1 "Sensory Deprivation Tank" includes an hypnotic bpm slowdown, and the A2 called "T.S.G." is focused on rave sounds with a poetry vocal inside.
The track A3 is TSG operated by The Stockholm / Hong Kong dude formerly known as Samo DJ and the newcomer Chinese Tzusing compiled an asian - L.I.E.S. - Born Free style remix. This is their first collaboration , recorded in their studio based in Shanghai, China. Recommend for the born free-dancefloor lovers!

B side is Madteo Side! Italy-via-NYC producer Madteo returns with a new remix on ISTHEWAY, the label operated by Italy's Shinoby. Although his unique take on house, techno and hip-hop has now been picked up on labels like Joy Orbison's Hingefinger and DJ Sotofett's Wania , for us Madteo's crowning achievement (well, beyond his cheekbones) is Noi No, his 2012 album for Finland's Sa¨hko¨ that mangled and inverted everything from morbid organ riffs to Drake. At 12:45 minutes long, it's like opening doors between a series of dreams, and there's no climax here: you can enter or exit at any point.

Florian Kupfer - Explora

TECHNICOLOUR
22.07.2015

Florian Kupfer first burst into dance music consciousness with 2013's insta-classic Lifetrax, filling much of the subsequent two years with a flurry of singles (more on L.I.E.S., an anonymous but hotly picked-up white label edit of Sade, plus efforts for Rush Hour's No 'Label' and W.T. Records) and DJ gigs across Europe, Australia, the USA and Russia.
He surfaces once again for Technicolour — Ninja Tune's singles label—with Explora, a four-track EP, brimming with punchy percussion, swatches of low-end menace, mechanical grind at a steady build, and a deep unidentifiable rumble. There is a certain darkness which pervades his body of work and Explora is no stranger to it, submerging the listener deep in the void somewhere between the crazed collectivity of the dancefloor and the inescapable solitude of the home that awaits. Inspired in equal parts by the solace of Berlin winter, dormant emotions following the 9/11 attacks and psychedelic experimentation, Kupfer proves once again that much magic can be made on a one-take hardware jam in his bedroom.

Hypnosaurus - Untitled / (re-played By Hieroglyphic Being)

This is a piece of Estonian underground music's history. More than 20 years ago, in Estonia, Hypnosaurus were pioneers of deep house and techno, the first ones to have gone with this new strange rhythmic music into the studio and into the dark basements of Tallinn.
"Untitled" is two guys with trashy equipment, Soviet synthesizers, an obsession for Cabaret Voltaire and excitement for the sound they heard coming from far away American cities. This krauty jam was released on Hypnosaurus' first cassette in 1991, an edition of just 20, given out to friends and people they knew.

The remix is by the strange and wonderful Chicago producer Hieroglyphic Being. This is soul music of rusty funk-robots. For this remix he is said to have tried out new methods of dealing with sounds, switching them on and off.

Ann Aimee
31.01.2014

Yan Cook is the Ukrainian techno producer unearthed by Delsin sister label Ann Aimee around this time last year. Now he is back with four uncompromising and dance floor focussed tracks on his Morse EP.
'Morse' itself is like a blizzard-y radio transmission of techno from Cold War era Russian - it's a fine grain and grimey tack with big thrusting kick drums and rusty synth lines that just roll and roll. 'Lighthouse' is a little less stormy, instead focussing on a paranoid and insistent synth hook as cantering kick drums rumble below.

'Nylon' on the flip is an aggressive an arresting offering once again. It's a spacious thing with mysterious bell sounds off in the distance, jarring drums and angry percussion all rattling along at a quick and inviting tempo, before closer 'Suspense' keeps you hanging on a knife edged with its loose and jangling melody lines and thumping kicks. This is austere yet atmospheric techno at its finest, just as Ann Aimee likes it.

Scape One - Recombination

It was only a matter of time before the prolific electro stalwart Scape One aka Kurt Baggaley made an appearance on CPU. Scape One's penchant for Sci-Fi is reflected in Recombination, an electronic adventure through space time, stopping briefly for an atomic war. Kurt's vast experience and collection of analogue synthesizers can be heard to full effect with crushing bass, bubbling leads and arpeggiated sweeps throughout. Strong artistic influences on the EP from John Foxx, Vangelis to Autechre (Incunabula-esque).

All in all a cocktail for the perfect electro cut.

Modeselektor Proudly Presents - Modeselektion Vol.3

Idle Hands has been broadening its reach both sonically and geographically this year, turning to ambient electronic dub with Portland's Strategy, atmospheric broken beat with London-based Leif and stripped down house with German producer Matt Karmil. This latest EP brings the focus back to Bristol with O$VMV$M, the latest project to emerge from the Young Echo milieu. Comprised of Neek (commonly found bashing out grime and steppers alongside Kahn) and Amos Childs (of Jabu and Zhou amongst others), the eight track release marks a step into even more experimental territory for Idle Hands while retaining the principles of soundsystem pressure that form a backdrop to the label's activities. The brief vignettes on IDLE026 are the result of sample scouring from all kinds of unlikely sources, following the practice Neek and Amos undertook when preparing their first cassette release for No Corner earlier in the year.

Admx-71 - Coherent Abstractions

Adam X is back with his third album release under his industrial guise, ADMX-71.
Following releases with the legendary label Hands and his own imprint, Sonic Groove Experiments, Adam paired up with L.I.E.S Records in 2014 for Redacted Files, a 12' single of slowed-down and tense EBM wizardry. Adam returns to the L.I.E.S. front with Coherent Abstractions, a brand new album of singular experiments that pull from every corner of electronic music's landscape into a comprehensive and propulsive full-length.

Coherent Abstractions pulsates with fractured rhythms, vacillating melodies and mesmerizing compositions that showcase Adam's impressive history working in all aspects of the underbelly of electronic music. Noise and industrial elements seep into the album's 11 songs, churning the cold and abrasive into feverish new territory. Though Coherent Abstractions operates primarily in sounds of solitude, guest vocalist Janina joins "Bound and Broken" for a rare vocal collaboration on an ADMX-71 track. We also hear a frantic vocal performance from the producer on Nearing Obliteration which is undoubtedly the apex of the album.

Throughout the album the music sweeps from breakbeat noir, anxious electronic dub to reflective industrial modes making Coherent Abstractions an engaging and varied listen, updating a late 80's EBM tone into modern sound design environments, while pushing a reverence for the past and heading into the deep unknown of the future.

For those unfamiliar with Adam's deeply rooted history in the New York underground, he and his brother, Frankie Bones, pioneered techno in a post-disco, pre-Guiliani, New York City through the late-eighties and onwards past the nineties producing countless records under various guises and finally opening their own shop and record label, Sonic Groove. At the same time they began throwing renegade parties, known as STORM RAVE throughout the 5 boroughs. which was, until this time unheard of in such a major U.S. metropolis and opened the door for what was to come.

Anthony Rother - *1* Syncope / Monophonia / Digby

06.06.2014

Well recommended for the freaks' the Manchester based independent music specialist Boomkat ones finished a review about a release of Düsseldorf based DJ and producer Tolouse Low Trax aka Detlef Weinrich (also known as one fourth of the German avant-band Kreidler). What a freak distinguished we do not really know - we just assume he walks this world on a different path. Tolouse Low Trax surely does! The latest evidence of this fact are four tracks of whom two are remixes by befriended artists, and two are coming right out of the middle of Tolouse Low Trax's very own sense for odd and catchy grooves. His friend Miles, also know as one-half of the experimental industrial techno and dark ambient duo Demdike Stare, puts hand on the track 'Sussing', originally released on Tolouse Low Trax's latest album 'Jeidem Fall' in 2012. He covers it with an enigmatic, shadowy veil in terms of sounds, space, and obscure driving arpeggios in order to give the track a 'brighter haze' feeling. A subliminal hypnotic transformation that swings with a unique dark and demanding drive. The second remix was done by Wolf Müller, a Düsseldorf based musician that released two highly acclaimed EPs on the German DIY label Themes for Great Cities. His profession as a percussionist calls the tune as he mutates the original track 'Jeidem Fall' into a tribal celestial dance tune that jacks with an Afro-Baroque elegance. Also the two EP contributions of Tolouse Low Trax himself move on very different terrains but seem to come out of the same experimental laboratory. With 'Vindeland' he delivers a track full of dark synthlines and drunken shuffled patterns that morphs into a nervous soigné sensation. In contrast his arrangement 'Eisenbahnzunge' starts with a celestial arpeggio until a strange alienated voice appears and everything melts layer by layer into an elliptical ambient experiment beyond the usual definition. Both tracks are deeply rooted in Tolouse Low Trax's very own spontaneous minimal hardware approach of producing bold, hypnotic dance-not-dance music that shall not only illuminate the so called freaks!

Brooklyn's Person of Interest returns to L.I.E.S. after his widely celebrated "Call this Number" debut from last year.
Once again we hear P.O.I. delivering the goods on the subtle yet massive "What You Think You Want" with it's phazed flutes, sleazy vocal, and rough house beats. "Keep it Moving" does just that on the b-side, again with a slinky laid back and somewhat sinister feel, whereas "My 97s" almost has a grime/uk kind of swing to it. Comes in an amazing full sleeve picture cover designed by Pete Leonard and P.O.I. Dancefloor approved.

Hypnosaurus - 1991-1992

Hypnosaurus is a legendary and unclassifiable Estonian techno act that proved to be very influential throughout its somewhat reclusive career. A great set with some real fire inside...TIP!!!!!
At the end of eighties, a youngster called Aivar Tõnso, encouraged and inspired by the sounds of Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, early Detroit techno, Sonic Youth, Big Black, and the like, started making music with almost no means - ancient, stone-age technology was put to good use in a constant search for abrasive musical expression. There was literally nothing like this around in Estonia at that time. In his own words, it didn't even occur to him, that someone might share his leftfield musical vision. A major source of information was John Peel with his late night shows on BBC Radio One. The iron curtain worked mostly, but was not enough to hold all the radio waves from seeping through. The fact that Aivar lived on the top floor of a tower block building, proved to be beneficial. He got a clearer signal.
From 1990 to 1992 the duo consisted of Aivar in care of keyboards and effects, and Railo Pals on drums. It was a time of making music solely for personal entertainment.
Somehow the youngsters got hold of an old Soviet synthesizer called Polivox. Aivar remembers, that to this day he is not completely sure of the operational logic of this piece of machinery. It was controllable to some extent, but then feedback and glitches took over and the music developed into uncharted territory. Aivar considers Polivox to be a crucial part of the Hypnosaurus sound. A beastly machine that could barely be tamed by man.
At one point Aivar found out that there was another John Peel follower in Tallinn. This lucky coincidence brought him together with Raul Saaremets (a.k.a Ajukaja), a drummer of a seminal Estonian indie band Röövel Ööbik. First he took over Railo's drumstool, later on the roles merged and both members of the duo mixed and matched their skills and the joy of constant exploration and discovery. The Hypnosaurus sound during that period became more clubbed out, more physical. A bodily experience, that addressed our primal, tribal urges. Aivar has always stated that he has been mutually inspired by the city and the country. The urban cityscape of a tower block district echoed in the beats and the rural beauty of the summer house and frequent trips to the countryside showing in the poetic and lyrical track names like 'Langeb tähti sülle' ('The Stars Fall Into the Arms') or 'Peipsi delfiinidele' ('For the Dolphins of Peipsi').
Hypnosaurus reached even deeper into the clubworld, morphing occasionally into a DJ duo Hypnitro Soundsystem, blowing people's minds all over Estonia.
Another big influence of Hypnosaurus has always been everything that has to do with geography, territories, borders, travelling and expedition. Borders abounded in Soviet Estonia. Invisible demarcation lines separating East from the West and the ideology from the taboo. There had always been a fascination of distant lands, fuelled by Jules Verne books (thankfully, science fiction and popular science were held in high regard in the USSR). The names of the places and cities took on a mystical meaning. Most of these locations were considered to be physically unreachable, as travelling was allowed only to those who were true to the cause.
As new projects started taking priority in both Raul's and Aivar's lives - Raul turning his attention more to DJing and Aivar weirding out further to the leftfield - Hypnosaurus called it a day around 1995. A tape release 'Class X 1992-1995' marked the symbolic end of one era in the history of Estonian dance music. Since then, there's only one CD-R compilation released and sold to friends. This here is the first proper collection, carefully curated by Aivar Tõnso himself. When asked about his early transcendental experience with music, Aivar recalls a moment, when there was an unbreakable bond formed in his head between Arthur Conan Doyle book 'The Lost World' and Kraftwerk's 'Computer World' album. Two worlds, one from the distant past of dinosaurs, and the other, in retrospect, not that distant future, merging into one in Hypnosaurus music. Hypno. And Saurus. And this magic music, transcending time and space.

Most Significant Beat - Geometric State Compilation

Arguably all but the most dedicated fans will have long forgotten Most Significant Beat, a "post-industrial" early '90s techno project from former Clock DVA man Maurizio Martinucci and Esplendor Geonetrico's Saverio Evangelista. This surprise vinyl compilation tells the story of their previously CD-only late '90s work, throwing in a previously unheard workout - the angular rhythms and Sheffield bleeps of "Geometric State" - for good measure. For the most part, the material has aged remarkably well, and sits somewhere between the forthright madness of Autechre, the spacey techno of Detroit-via-Frankfurt (see "Amy Tekno") and the buzzing intensity of Surgeon.

I've been over and over track running orders, while taking into account the limitations of vinyl. It needs to be a loud cut as anything increasing the chances of this music being played in clubs is a priority. The major development is, I'd really like the A side at 45rpm - as before. As well as the extra volume, 'Granular Psychosis' is an exciting prospect to be able to play at both speeds as it's so fast. With this track list below, we're exceeding the time slightly for what I've been advised is the best 45rpm quality. However, as Zattrday has such a limited frequency range, that can be cut to take a very small part of the vinyl. I will talk to ****** about all this, and ultimately go with his advice of the best way to do this on the day. But I can say it will almost definitely happen like one of the two options below:

BRACK, the new imprint from UK-born Berlin-based producer BNJMN, is back in quick succession with another strong transmission from the label boss. After plunging into dirtier, darker sonic waters on the Pitchfork-tipped BRACK001, Chromed continues the descent.

While the propulsive rhythms and skilfully stacked samples remain intact, these 4 tracks are imbued with subtler elements that become more apparent with repeated listens. Drums don't just bang, they scrape, stab and shudder, and the typically mesmeric synth-lines are swathed in analogue hiss and seething low-end. Idiosyncratic aural details have always been a specialty of the young producer, but here they rise to the fore. The rapidly flourishing sound world that is BRACK comes more into focus, and it appears it is even more intricate and musically rich than on first glance.

Solar One with another strong one! Three exclusive tracks from Clatterbox (check the Clear Audio release by Clatterbox!), and 'Sentinel' which will be on vinyl for the first time. This track was well supported by many DJ's around the world and garnered the following praise from uber DJ Dave Clarke: " Sometimes you get tracks sent to you that give you chills down your spine and make you feel pretty proud to have a radio show, and that track that gave me that complete feeling was 'Sentinel' by Clatterbox''. Prolific Dutch artist Conforce is back with another LP on Delsin Records. This one marks something of a subtle evolution in his sound in that it returns to a more organic and immersive aesthetic. Made using various bits of outboard gear, it fuses dub rhythm with ambient detail and propulsive 4/4 kick drums to make for absorbing listening. Once again, then, this album proves no one does deep electronic music as well as Conforce.

Neko Majin, Jaquarius, Abstracker, Yan Kaylen, Drich - Tube Remix

It's as if Alien rain would have meet Somatic responses... Specially on the 2 long Tunes devotes for Deejays : A1 and B1 tunes... all this is kindly Techno, electro and acid, modernstyle built up with the Hardware... And with a bit of Violence to upgrade the crazyness at the next Stage. Also a special tyes plus mention for the last tune, the only triby tune here... A very musical nice perl, an evident excellent track ! Enjoy !
