Howling's Album "Sacred Ground" und seine Entstehung stehen für viele Dinge gleichzeitig: Zusammenarbeit, Improvisation, Einfachheit und Zufälle. Obwohl er gerade das Demolevel überschritten hatte, ging der Ursprungstrack "Howling" Anfang 2012 (via Dixons Boiler Room Set) viral und erregte in der gesamten elektronischen Musikszene Aufmerksamkeit, erklomm Charts und gewann Awards. Keiner der beiden Beteiligten - Singer/Songwriter Ry X und Âme-Produzent/Innervisions-Chef Frank Wiedemann - hatte das erwartet. Genauso unerwartet, nur wenige Jahre später, wider räumlicher Entfernung und musikalischer Ausrichtungen, erscheint nun ihr Debütalbum "Sacred Ground" als Gemeinschaftsprojekt von Monkeytown Records und Counter Records, dem Sublabel von Ninja Tune. "Sacred Ground" ist eine wundersame Synergie beider Künstler, mit handfesten Elementen von Franks charakteristischen Sounds (tief, mehrlagig, fusionierend), die sich ach so leicht in die profunde Freiheit von Rys Stimme und Produktion schleichen. Das Projekt nimmt beide Künstler mit an einen ganz neuen Ort voll wunderschöner, hypnotischer Klanglandschaften, die sowohl ein Gefühl von Verlassenwerden, als auch Wiederfindens erzeugen.

Following the excellent Lost Series (Part 1) and (Part 2), Frigio label founder Juanpablo is back, this time with a full five track mini-LP: Darkness gathers above the needle's edge as the Colombian artist delivers the shadow strewn The Hideout. Abstraction is balanced against dancefloor clout across this quintet of underworld electronics. Rhythms curve and bend, scattering into the blackened chasms of "Chrome Light" and "Shadow's Color," before resurfacing into the light of "Indumorg." The title piece burns with a slow intensity. Sinister coils of Acid drip, skies bruise and ash rains before "They Watching You" closes. Juanpablo's builds on his past releasing, melting the lines of Techno, House and Electro and remoulding genres and blurring styles. Eclipsed sounds from the centre of Spain.

Indulge yourself in breakbeat nostalgia expertly crafted for the 21st century. Japanese artist Missqulater aka Keyday Kirze delivers 4 tracks of playful rave-influenced braindance.

Human Traffic sampling 'Bruva Gonna Take You There' is bursting with the infamous hoover sound from the Roland Alpha Juno (Second Phase - Mentasm et al) and the rest of the EP follows suit with tracks reminiscent of the likes of T99 and DJ's Unite. They Rave Us reboots a genre from the golden years of electronic music and has lots of fun in the process.

Beguilingly fizzy electro vibes kick off the debut effort from the latest addition to Nous' ever expanding plethora of talent.
O. Xander's Less is More EP does what it says on the tin with a bare bones aesthetic that pays dividends in the subtlety of its arrangement and an enigmatic viscidity that sits central to each component track, none more so than the nectarous 'Lovers Theme'. Deeper into the EP there is a discernible salute to the Belleville Three and their dilettantish synthesis of sound and sensation on the aptly titled 'Integrity & Intensity', while closing out the collection Michigan's Karen Gwyer contributes a leviathan rework of the propulsive ÔDirac SeaÕ, also included in its original form, with the subsequent version weaving a distended web of imbricated melodies into a rapturous crescendo.

Sheffield based John Shima returns to diametric. with his Isomorphic project and presents his debut album 'Memory Weave'. The album was crafted in John's studio in the second half of 2014 and is again focusing on modular synthesis experimentation with a strong focus on musicality. The album features a wonderful mix of electronica, IDM, early Warp era deep electronic exploration and electro, and will be a great addition to any collection of Fax Records, Rising High or Likemind. The details and atmosphere created by John are sublime and showcase his skill and experience in creating electronic music with a message, soul and emotion. 'Paint en Pointe' is a compilation of selected compositions by Eugene Ward, otherwise known to most as Dro Carey / Tuff Sherm. The tracks have been taken from a series of performance collaborations with choreographer Patric Kuo over a 5 month period. The performances, which occurred monthly in the latter half of 2014, took place in Spot81 gallery in Chippendale, Sydney. Kuo and Ward, along with a roster of dancers, were invited to create new dance works that responded to the exhibition occurring during the given month. Throughout the series many ensemble types were explored, ranging from solos up to large groups of as many as 16 dancers. Patric Kuo is a Sydney based dancer/choreographer originally trained in all styles, but presently heavily draws his influence from hip hop and contemporary dance. Coming from a performing arts and commercial dance background, Kuo has expanded his ideas about communicating to an audience, moving away from the traditional entertainment relationship towards an approach that includes engagement more informed by performance art.

Best known for his club music productions in his Tuff Sherm and Dro Carey guises, the compilation offers an exploration of a different side of Ward's music. Paint en Pointe showcases Ward the composer, synthesising his characteristic textures and percussion with structures that allow in some instances more formal approaches (informed by his study of composition at the Australian Film, Television & Radio school), while in others, even greater experimentation than in his - already quite singular - solo music work.

'Paint en Pointe' Explores that tantalising and ultra-modern dance ethos of contrasting double & half time feels to create a juxtaposition of fast and slow rhythms that echoes the sound palette of styles such as trap, juke and footwork without aping them or even directly referring to them. Add to this Ward's uncannily attuned ear for 'wacky' and almost comical sounds and you get a playful yet muscular interpretation of music for movement; one that's stripped back enough to allow the listener to focus on the intrinsic character of each separate musical detail.

Ward's use of machinery sounds throughout this body of music could possibly allude to the corporeal essence of dance and rhythmic motion. Not in the sense of 'doing the robot'; but rather a musical x-ray of tendons, ligaments, joints and sockets functioning as an ancient and beautifully complex marvel of engineering.

At times Paint en Pointe recalls the deconstructed, mutated, and cinematic dancefloor work of uk producers such as Wen and Logos, but embraces a more organic, experimental, and occasionally exotic approach to rhythmic structure that is comparable to the work of artists such as Fatima Al Quadri or Shackleton - combine these two worlds with a constant respect and achknowledgement for modern sound design masters such as Rashad Becker and Mika Vainio and you find a forward thinking sound that stands completely alone.

Ward has previously released music on an impressive roster of labels including The Trilogy Tapes, Ramp, Opal Tapes, Merok, Berceuse Heroique, and Greco-Roman..

Neil Landstrumm unleashes his tenth album.
Dragon Under marks the Scottish trailblazer's first LP since 2009's Bambaataa Eats His Breakfast on Planet Mu, and follows a series of EPs for labels like Killekill, Brothers and Don't.

This one will come through Sneaker Social Club, Hypercolour's slightly more experimental arm, and it'll be the first full-length on the imprint.

Landstrumm—whose career has jumped from techno to hip-hop and dubstep since 1995, creating a style he once christened "wonky techno"—reportedly makes a "return to his techno and electro club styles" on Dragon Under, also meshing together dub, grime and other bass music styles.
The lengthy record features 16 tracks, including collaborations with Killekill's Bill Youngman and rapper Profisee.

R&S welcomes ALSO to the family, AKA the pairing of Appleblim and Second Storey for their excellent debut album, combined from their critically acclaimed Trilogy of EPs.
Ever since they first met and bonded over a shared love of machine rhythms and sleek electronic grooves, the pair have been hard at work on pushing their creative boundaries to the limit, never content to take the easy route - as Laurie explains "if that means broken rhythms, and untraditional melodies then so be it. There's so many people making sonically 'correct' or refined 4x4 music, we just wanted to explore everything other than that, whilst still keeping the dance floor moving." These heavy studio / live loose jams sessions have borne truly verdant musical fruit inspired as much by classic R&S alumni from Aphex Twin to Blawan and the Detroit axis of Carl Craig and Juan Atkins.
The album drips with uptempo cyborg funk, heavyweight bass and bleeping synth squiggles, pulsing subs and swooning pads.

M.D.O.F. (Multiple Degree of Freedom) EP brings us to the 8th Modal Analysis release; an improvisation-noise extract from the studio collaboration between the Greek electronic producer Panos Kyveleas, (a.k.a. BIOMASS), and the Italian impro-noise duo R.O.M. (Alessandro Quintavalle/electronic bass & Luca Pastore/tenor sax). M.D.O.F.#1 presents a series of soundscape textures, blended with (processed) saxophone melodies. M.D.O.F.#2 and M.D.O.F.#3 are two very unique
noise/free-jazz sessions, including both bass and saxophone solos, along with distorted ambience. M.D.O.F.#4 is based on rhythmic bass themes and abstract electronic and saxophone sounds, fused into drone layers. All tracks were recorded and mixed at Music Trade Lab in Napoli (Italy) by Fabrizio Piccolo.

The song "Last Time", previously only available on the limited deluxe CD edition (cat# MTR036CD - sold out) of the overwhelmingly successful sophomore Moderat album "II", was always meant to be the third single release. The song celebrates its vinyl debut on this double 10Inch alongside an instrumental version, an alternate version as well as the only guest remix by Jon Hopkins.

Coinciding with the beginning of the album world tour and the release of the extensive 2014 tour edition of the album as a deluxe 2xCD+DVD (MTR040CD), "Last Time" is a perfect example of exquisite indie-pop from an album that you just can't deny on many levels.

Up first on OKNO is the restless Naples producer, NPLGNN. After vividly capturing our attention with his first release, 'Meccano' on Nute, NPLGNN followed up with his first 12' release on WHEREIIDANCE, 'Sigma / Tau'. NPLGNN's uniquely straight up and strictly-no-bullsh*t analogue dancefloor jams (just check 'Acid UFO') have unsurprisingly been snapped up and played by tastemakers including Ben UFO, Low Jack and Mumdance. 2015 is bound to be a top year for this guy, and we are excited to present his first release of the year. In the follow up to their inaugural release from Acre that garnered support from the likes of Dario Zenker, Pearson Sound, Norman Nodge and Jamie XX, Manchester based Project 13 deliver their second package from newcomer Divided backed up by Hodge on remix duties.

Despite it's relative infancy Project 13 have forged a distinctive sound characterised by cold mechanical textures and tough, scuzzy percussion which in this case is represented deftly within their latest offering: Divided's 'Mile End' EP.

'Uildi' kicks things off with a frosty, juddering synth pattern propelled by rasping percussion before 'Mehrige' builds behind a driven kick set sawing through it's menacing back drop. The title track then blooms through circling machine loops and more off-kilter percussion as it picks up fiery vocal snips and brazen, hacking synth tones.

Bristol based Hodge then follows his releases on Hotline, Punch Drunk and Tempa weighing in with a 4/4 take on 'Uildi' that sets a thick, sizzling texture over a persistent, pacy bump rounding up another solid release from a flourishing and exciting new label.

STILL/CURRENT was composed for choreographer Russell Maliphant's duet of the same name by long-time collaborator Mukul, and commissioned by Sadler's Wells, London.

The idea of a physical, published record was born during rehearsals of the duet, for which RYSUNKU founder Jan Urbanowski had designed video projections. It is the second release on the label after Jan's own EP under the alias Yahshu. RYSUNKU releases innovative sound work in very limited numbered vinyl editions. Initial releases are designed by renowned art collective Tomato.

BIO:

Mukul Patel (*1971) is co-director of ambientspace, an artist-run studio in London that has been producing critical, intermedia work at the intersection of society and technology since 2001. He plays predominantly with sound, language, and processes. His work takes many forms - including music and sound art, participatory installations and public interventions, film scripts, experi- mental fiction and children's book. He has worked with artist-filmmaker Manu Luksch (over more than a decade), Tilda Swinton, Isaac Julien, and choreographers including Akram Khan, Shobana Jeyasingh, Christopher Wheeldon and The Ballet Boyz. Formal- ly, he is strongly influenced by 1960s-70s conceptual practice, the music of North India, and the French literary-mathematical group Oulipo.

Prior to his work with dance on stage, in the 1990s Mukul was intimately involved with dance in the club context, not least as a resident at the much-missed Blue Note in Hoxton on the groundbreaking Monday night, Anokha. (No night was normal, but throwing beats to Squarepusher on bass with ghazal singer Hariharan battling Bjo¨rk on vocals was not atypical). Later, when Anokha moved to The End, he curated a room with guest DJs from Matthew Herbert to the late Charlie Gillett. At the parallel Sunday night lounge/listening club Calcutta Cyber Cafe´ (Brick Lane), he gave a platform to minimalists and rhythm terrorists alike (Zoviet*France, Muslimgauze).

Hazylujah is a new talent from Italy. His four track EP 'Too Many Ghosts' is a fizzing and machine wired world of deep space atmospherics, house beats and techno futurism. It clunks and splutters with analogue details in its own unique way.

Trevor Jackson (Playgroup, Output Recordings, Metal Dance) Releases 'Format', A collection of unreleased gems from his archive, his first album in 14 years.
Following the launch of his limited multi edition FORMAT project in February, Trevor Jackson releases a collection triple LP/CD download edition via The Vinyl Factory on the 18th May featuring bonus tracks not available on any of the initial releases.
Jackson is a man whose fingerprints are all over underground and mainstream culture, not only as a producer, DJ and label impresario, but also as a designer, artist, filmmaker and curator.
FORMAT is the first album from Trevor Jackson since his acclaimed Playgroup album back in 2001. His Output Recordings label (1996-2006) introduced the world to the likes of Four Tet & LCD Soundsystem, His recent Metal Dance compilations reinvigorated interest in early industrial and experimental electronic dance music that's clearly had a powerful influence on much of today's leftfield club music.
FORMAT's initial limited edition release in February consisted of 12 separate physical releases each featuring a different track, available on 12', 10' & 7' vinyl cd, mini CD, cassette, USB, VHS, minidisc, DAT, 8 track + Reel to Reel this was no ordinary album release - it charted the legacy of the physical music format, in a characteristically beautiful and uncompromising way, paying homage to physically released formats over the decades and also celebrating the artistry, design and individual experience of playing music via traditional methods. An accompanying installation at the vinyl factory space in London offered people the opportunity to listen to the album as a unique audiovisual experience Curated from an archive of over 150 tracks Trevor had built up over the past 2 decades, the inspiration for Jackson's music, has come from 'the times and places where genres weren't quite formed.' From his obsessive collecting of obscurities and outsider records over the years, he's developed a natural understanding of how people work in the moments just before rules are written, when everything is a gleeful experiment with technology and rhythm and every sound is there for its own sake - but from his long experience of DJ-ing, he knows how to distill down what works in the most direct and thrilling way from these experiments.So while his synth and beatbox workouts might touch on proto-house, on new wave, on italo and techno, on ambient and psychedelia, they are at the same time none of these things.

Back in 2010, Boris Bunnik released his first full-length album, Machine Conspiracy, through the now defunct Meanwhile label. Delsin are re-issuing it along with Love & Hate, the EP that came at the same time and that features three tracks from the album. Machine Conspiracy came a few years after Conforce had first emerged and was a magnificent dub, techno and electro opus that made for a complete listen from start to finish as well as offering up some key dancefloor tracks. Showcasing the skills that have since made Conforce a household name in underground circles, the album is full of analogue invention, seriously moody atmospheres and non standard textures, patterns and feelings. Released on CD, digitally, black vinyl and on limited transparent vinyl, this is an album every one needs in their collection.

Solar One Music is proud to present a very special project. Arne Weinberg (Valanx) and Robert Witschakowski (The Exaltics) join forces as "Val_Ex" and present their first album. Thomas Goertz returns with a massive 5 tracker! This time under his new moniker Dendren on his interesting imprint Untangle.

Here is what he says about the new record:

"I mess around with my early 80s synths...fuck around with my DRM 1 Drum Synth...put some analogue reverbs,delays or effects on it...put the whole salad into my MPC 2000XL... maybe sample some vocals from 90s Rap records...jam with the salad...build something out of the salad...keep the MPC on for about 2 days and then record everything live in one take on DAT.That's my workflow...simple as that."

The result is an outstanding amalgamation and intuitive interpretation of rugged machine made Techno,Grime,Ambient and Soundscapes all refined with a very own sound aesthetic.

Philippe Laurent, a renowned French Electro/Synth wave pioneer & modern classical music composer who released a numerous amount of tapes during the 80's and a LP vinyl album on the label Minimal Wave Records in 2011.

This release joint consist in two tracks by Philippe Laurent from 1982 unreleased on vinyl yet and exclusively restored from the original tapes by Minimal Wave Records Studios in New York in 2014 and a cover by Xeno & Oaklander a Cold wave and Synth Pop band from the same city.


A.1/ Exposition 3, an intergalactic anthem composition with late 70's synthesizers and effects transporting the auditor in an epic voyage.



B.1/ Rapide 1 is a multidimensional weird boogie track standing for its singularity. Definitely an UFO for this era and synth lovers of all times.



B.2/ For the modern version of Exposition 3, the Cold Wave/Synth Pop duet Xeno & Oaklander reworked/recomposed completely Exposition 3 with their rather creative analog studio more than 30 years after the original was made.
The result is an intriguing electronic journey driven by a night driving 808 beat in a place where you can perceive John Carpenter's shadow hovering.

The two long time mates Thomas P. Heckmann and Gez Varley aka G-Man finally release their studio sessions they recorded over a short period of time in 2011.
Based mainly on live production and using funny and long obsolete instruments and samplers, they managed to throw their long history in music together for these fun sessions. The EP starts with the title track DRIVE INN, very minimal in the production and reduced to the main ingredients a great track needs and definitely to be experienced in a nice club with decent PA. This one also gets a very fine treatment by the Detroit duo AUX 88 as a Mad Scientist remix !
The flipside starts with the Chicago influenced BACKPACK tune, very Techno-House in it's appearance, but not to be mixed up with Tech-House ! Nice swirly and pushing FMed basslines carry this tune into the subconscious.
And we finish off this package with the trippy and dubby SIDEWINDER, a great builder with fancy and psychedelic effects and deepness...

"Lies," a track from the now-defunct UK experimental group Bourbonese Qualk, get new life by way of a vinyl release on Mannequin Records with Ancient Methods on edit and remix duties. The release will contain also the original short-time version.
Bourbonese Qualk came into existence in 1979, and put out a stream of confrontational albums through much of the '80s and into the early '90s. After a long pause, their final album, On Uncertainty, came out in 2001, and the band disbanded the next year after the death of guitarist Miles Miles.

"Lies", a terse, TR 808 driven electro-tinged cut just under two minutes long, originally came out in 1986 on the Preparing For Power LP by way of the group's own label Recloose Organization.

Based in Paris, the electronic label BEAR launched in the beginning of 2015, is defined by itís artistic eclecticism.Each artist highlights his universe , still keeping the common energy of the label.

Daxyl is a duo from Marseille comprising of Sebastien Michel (Project UVB) and Jean Redondo. Influenced by Techno and Electro from the 90s with a big penchant for music with Cold Wave sounds, these anologic machine collectors offer us diversity in their accurate, powerful and harmonious music .Their first EP ' Early Works ' will inaugurate the launch of the label 'Behzad Amarou Records' (BEAR) planned for early 2015 .
