NX Records is a collaboration between Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records and the Department of Music at Goldsmiths, University of London.
In May 2013, the label launched with an introductory mixtape and live performances as part of the Puregold Festival launch at the Southbank Centre. NX Records has continued to release new, critically acclaimed music, host numerous events and run an annual pop up record shop.
The label's mission statement is to create a new model for the music industry, connecting exciting talent from the renowned creative hub of Goldsmiths - and the wider community of South East London - with the ever-experimental Accidental Records.
Our aim is to build connections between emerging artists, education, the industry and audiences. NX is a professional label that works alongside, not in opposition with, DIY artists.

We are excited to release a 6-track EP from San Francisco based DJ, producer, and remixer Sepehr Alimagham. The San Jose native has been a fixture in the Bay Area house and techno scene for quite awhile now — on the dance-floor, behind the decks, in the studio, or all of the above. Early influences like Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and post-hardcore bands later in high school started his affinity for off-kilter, underground music. In 2017 he began performing live PA sets, utilizing his immense production backlog to perform vivid and electric sets, from potent dance music to psychedelic and esoteric soundscapes.
"Body Mechanics" is six tracks of acid drenched dance music that ebb and flow from floor filling club thumpers to more cerebral soundscapes. Inspired by the new wave of the acid sound as well as nostalgia from his formative years in the San Francisco music scene, 'Body Mechanics' takes a functional, yet psychedelic approach to 303 styled techno and electronica. Attention demanding basslines, indiosyncratic structures and hallucinatory atmospheres provide an effective framework for Sepehr's vision. The themes of the track titles take root from a series of dreams Sepehr had with a common atmosphere of strange characters and textures, akin to scenes from David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks'. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in a jacket featuring a dark and inviting cyborg hand holding a rose designed by Nicole Ginelli.

Three of the major pedestals in the Icelandic techno scene gave birth to a classic Thule release in 1997. This collaboration between Sanasol (Yagya & Thor) & Ozy gave result of an EP, which is considered by many to be one of the finest of the Icelandic techno of that era.

Krakow based Olivia joins Pinkman with a modern twist on ancient charming practices. "Dancing Snake" takes you to a surging tomb rave in the heat of the desert. Staatseinde spent their recent earth time creating their third EP called Darüber Reden Wir Nicht. Combining their own Neue Niederlandische Welle with synthwave and EBM, these three extraterrestrial musicians adapted four European languages to spread their message.
First track on the A-side is Staatsanthem, a heroic soundtrack meant as a hymn to their home planet. Next up is title track Darüber Reden Wir Nicht, followed by No Return. Two bold, minimalistic EBM like tracks performed in a much harder style than they've ever done before.

Since 2018, three archival, private-press volumes of previously-unheard music from subterranean Swedish project Civilistjävel! have been released. Drawn from an extensive cache of material recorded in the late '90s and early 2000s using mostly Juno60 and KorgMS20, and startling in its accomplishment and emotional eloquence, Civilistjävel!'s M.O. ranges from intimate, melodic minimal synth nocturnes through to deep, droning, Chain Reaction-esque techno ice-scapes, all of it austere but full of nameless, 30-days-of-night yearning. 'Generalstrejk' represents the first "contemporary" offering from Civilistjävel! to appear on record: the 20-minute-long title track is a concussive, steamrolling epic derived from live performances given in London and Stockholm in 2019. The three tracks of unknown vintage on the B-side revisit the pure arctic dread of the archival work - all brittle, abstract dub phantasms and glowering industrial ambience. Nerve Deposit is the new EP from Identified Patient on Dekmantel’s sub-label UFO. The record is a lysergic stew of industrial, electro, breakbeat hardcore and synth-rock, with the purpose to get under your skin and set your nerves tingling. While extending his signature sound, the Dutch producer upgrades his process and marshals a new complexity from his machines. The result is five tracks which stalk shadowy hallways but never lean too far into the darkness, at once menacing and lively. In 2006 the musical landscape was a very different place. Social media, as we know it, was in it's infancy. The constant stream of likes, notifications and digital interruptions of today didn't fully exist yet. Those of us 'in the know' and with a thirst for the overlooked regions of the record store had to quench ourselves in the finely curated and generous climes of the online world's myriad music sites, but LA's Lovefingers site was something different, a watering hole in the burgeoning digital desert, a zone where Wally Badarou rubbed shoulders with the likes of Holger Czukay, Sylvester, Mr. Fingers and many others with ease and nobody had an issue with it. A space where a $1 thrift store score b-side could breathe the same dusty air as a $300 private press Folk rarity in comfort. Through an ongoing 'single track per day' posting Andrew 'Lovefingers' Hogge created a truly open-minded, democratic and educated selection of music for our secret, late-night right click and 'save link as' pleasure.
Did we mention that this was before almost everything that we now take for granted? That's right, you see all those Euro Pop dubs, or the 'classics' that we play at the wrong speed, or those private gems that have been reissued to the moon and back? Well, they very probably popped up on our collective record radars via the medium of first. Rightfully so, the site became an instant 'go to' and mark of quality among diggers, DJ's, voyeurs and lurkers around the globe and undoubtedly lead Andrew to instigate his much loved ESP Institute imprint, that is now almost a decade old. The Lovefingers site certainly contributed hugely to the wondrous, many faceted and open minded galaxy of records that is now the language we all speak fluently, inspiring a generation of curious diggers to delve even further into the racks.
This compilation you have within your grasp is merely a snapshot of the aural delights that were on offer to those of a 'leftfield' persuasion who found the site and dutifully tuned in for the daily shot of sonics proper. A finely and carefully crafted, lovingly curated handful of records that Andrew has revisited in order to tell the story of his most influential and essential modern musical resource. Nehuen's Psyops Part One kicks off with the excellent title track, which contorts acid and electro into a writhing monster filled with dark energy. The visceral 'Toxic' is built on slapping hits and spangled basslines that will tie you in knots as the bumping drums drive things forward. The late-night menace continues on 'Bailar', with tight synth arps layered up in robotic forms over clunky drums that are industrial and futuristic in equal measure. Last but not least, the eerie 'Desire' strikes a more twisted note with double kicks juddering beneath echoing hits. It's pure, filthy, brilliant body music.
Cardopusher kicks off Part Two with the fantastic 'Disobedience' (feat. Lbeeze) a slow-motion drum
workout that is like dark disco mangled through a psychedelic filter, with robotic vocals and stiff arp
jerking your body. 'Abyss Antidote' is then a flurry of drum breaks and electro bass, frazzled synths and whipping hits that keep you on the edge of your seat. Darkness abounds on the gritty 'Initial Decay' (ft. Lbeeze), which layers up taught drums and hits with spraying synths that come from a dystopian planet.
Closing out this epic mini-series is 'Mutant Brain', a cyborg techno meltdown with manic acid for
company.
These are devilishly distorted tracks from two of the best producers around.
Is this the sound of the future or fragments of the past coming back to haunt us? Is a remix of a classic thirty years after the fact an exercise in hauntology or a time loop closing? When hardcore came bowling out of the UK underground, it was sci-fi postulating rendered on wax, but it also reflected an inescapable reality at street level. Idealist, escapologist music that said as much about decades of inner city pressure as it did about outer space fantasies. A sweet refrain underpinned by a necessary ruffness, the elegant ballet of a break dissected 16 different ways over 16 bars, the protest pulse of the subs carrying the torch from one soundsystem culture to another.
What hardcore successfully struck on was so definably alien it set a new paradigm which has been cast back and forth in dialogue ever since. Whole scenes have risen and receded around these principles, and the constant remains – masses of bass carrying angular rhythms, unnerving echo chambers of disembodied voices and moments of staggering beauty and masterful ugliness. These principles have a universal appeal that burns bright generation to generation, never seemingly diminishing but rather fortifying with time. Sometimes a surge of inspiration finds the principles reinterpreted in head-spinning new ways, but the ethic remains the same.
Those shaky, intrepid years of lo-fi samplers and narrow band broadcasts were defined by their lack of definition. Take a punt on a rare groove lick and work out how to get the low end louder. Then everything got organised – in the face of mass appeal scenes started splintering and preferences catered to. It may not have been a force for unity, but it engendered more intensive investigation. Years of scenes, styles, subgenres, niches, furrows, corridors, avenues, detours, each more hyper-specific than the last. Eventually though, everything breaks down so much it all becomes one mass again – a constant cross-contamination between these intensely cultivated strains, creating ever more potent hybrids that simply feed back into the temporal swirl.

Ekman is no stranger to Shipwrec. With three EPs and an album, the dutchman's brand of fire and brimstone has seared a serious impression on the Nijmegen imprint. The fourth 12" comes with a marked difference. That burning smouldering intensity that has characterised the acid soaked electro and stained techno of past records is present, however it is now sheathed. Beats are still sharp edged, as in "Verdraaide Logica", yet keys have softened and taken on an introspection. "Kronkel" is cast in a similar mould. From a fearsome kick blooms an incredibly layered and thoughtful track where melodies bob and weave while rhythms rail. Even amidst the sinister sidling synthlines of "Anker Punten", with its piercing and punishing percussion, there are understated pads to mellow. The glass and steel of "Vast/Los" ends the EP. Angular lines permeate the piece, reflection and refractions arc and bend in this science fiction finale. Depth mixed devilment from start to finish.

Dexorcist, aka South London’s Si Brown, has been at the forefront of the UK electro scene since the late 90s – running the seminal Control Tower label with Radioactive Man and producing as part of a number of collaborative projects alongside his solo releases, including as Kronos Device with Bass Junkie.
His ‘Rage Signal’ EP, the first vinyl release on Ecstasy Garage Disco (following digital releases from LMajor and BufoBufo), journeys further back into his musical roots, combining his trademark industrial-strength aesthetic with elements of dub, bleep and hardcore.
‘Rage Signal’ starts the dance, blending rave whoops, slamming breaks, acerbic hoovers and vintage sci-fi samples for a track heavily championed by Local Group, the duo label boss Corporeal Face is part of. The searing bass, booming 808s and urgent bleeps of ‘Centurion’ then underline its gravelly vocal, which aptly attests to the roughness of the 21st century.
‘Don’t Come Cryin’ is another huge slice of thumping 140bpm rave-inspired breaks, Britcore vocals and urgent, winding melody adding chaotic force to the bass and stab lead. ‘Jah’s Comin’ closes out, a prophetic vocal, hefty sub, dubbed out horns and turntablist scratching heralding his arrival – while also signing off an EP that unites electro’s bass weight with the undying energy of rave’s early days.

Suction Records welcomes Roger Semsroth back to the label - having previously released 2 full-length albums with us under his retired electro-pop alias, Skanfrom. “Grøndal” (suction051) is the debut vinyl release under a new alias, Nordvest.
These days, Semsroth is best-known for his stark and minimalist techno project, Sleeparchive. The material on Grøndal - icy, melodic, and mostly beatless - is comprised of tracks that were originally released digitally as Sleeparchive, via Bandcamp. The releases were met with general disinterest from Sleeparchive fans, prompting Semsroth to re-brand them as Nordvest, before removing them from Bandcamp altogether.
We’ve chosen 11 highlights from 3 of those digital albums, “Rooftops & Chaotic Streets”, “Scribbles”, and “Sleepless”, for a cohesive 11-track LP of austere, synthetic ambience. Think Tangerine Dream as reinterpreted by Incunabula-era Autechre, and you might be getting somewhere close. Cristian Vogel is a life-long innovator in the design, composition and performance of electronic sounds. His independent career in music and audio technology has won prizes and awards establishing him as an outstanding influence in the field of composition for studio, club culture and stage. He performs, remixes and produces original music and sound design at an international level. He has lived in Brighton, Barcelona, Berlin and Geneva and is now permanently based in Copenhagen where he continues creating technologically based music, sound and audio technology at his design studios Ekometic and NeverEngineLabs.
Amsterdam collective De Lichting proudly presents their second solo EP on the label. Known for their collaborative compilations and multi-faced jam sessions, once in a while they shine a light on one member solely. This time it’s Utrecht based producer queniv with four high-energy power jams. He has appeared on all three De Lichting compilations before and is an active member of the group since they launched early 2018.
Opening track ‘Unfold’ starts at high pace with rubbery kick drums formed in an unstoppable groove. With its bleeping lazer shots and crafty programmed drum patterns it’s a powerful electro tool for joyful DJ-sets. ‘Unknown Territory’ continues on a slightly darker path, the ambiance is dreamy and floats smoothly into sub heavy territories. The Parisian Security Dj, honorary member of the Knick Knack Yoda squad, returns, after the success of "Fucking DJ", in collaboration with Sophia De Jong released on our t last VA, this time with two whole sides dedicated to his weirdness.
Resident of Rinse France, in his sound, converge endless cues from his musical research, expressed through his already proven skills as a producer in his infamous Aubervilliers Studios. Roughness and overwhelming grooves are his characteristic traits.
Within the EP a collaboration with his snack dude Rawmance, Parisian by birth, Italian by adoption, with whom he shares also the Drew C. Mance project.
Asymmetrical , boss of the label, did the role of Celine Dion in “Ramp Age” with his magic voice.
Finally, to complete the work, we have the pleasure to have in our infamous stables tha guy Cardopusher, who cooks his version of "domestic xs" with his unmistakable groove and sound that makes even the stones move from the ground.

We are proud to welcome back San Francisco based DJ and producer Sepehr Alimagham for his debut album ‘Shaytoon’. Drenched in nostalgia from his upbringing, ‘Shaytoon’ pays homage to 1970s Iranian albums that were on rotation throughout his youth. Eight tracks of twisted acid, left-of center electro, sludgy psychedelia, and things-you-can-maybe-call-techno are a few of the sonic elements found within. Regular listeners will find Sepehr’s signature perspiratory dance-floor vibe, but some songs also showcase a low-slung, cerebral approach. Sepehr's unique sonic palette carves an interesting space in the dance music world by harnessing the spirit of his cultural ancestors. The artwork pays tribute to ‘70s Iranian pop and funk albums with bold Farsi calligraphy and portraits by Sahra Jajarmikhayat. There are few genres in which German artists play such a central pioneering role as they do in electronic music, be it techno, electropop, trance or rave. At the frontline for many years were Kraftwerk and U96, two absolute trailblazers of this musical direction. While Kraftwerk wrote international music history mainly in the 1970s with cult albums such as Autobahn (1974), Radio-Aktivität (1975), Trans Europa Express (1977) and Die Mensch-Maschine (1978), U96 had a profound influence on the global pop music, rave and techno scene of the 1990s with hits such as ‘Das Boot’, ‘Love Sees No Colour’, ‘Night In Motion’ and ‘Heaven’. Transhuman, scheduled for release on UNLTD Recordings on 30th October 2020, will feature a spectacular collaboration between U96 (Ingo Hauss
& Hayo Lewerentz) and Wolfgang Flür, Kraftwerk’s drummer in the years between 1972 and 1987 and therefore involved in the most seminal albums by the group from Düsseldorf.
This remarkable cooperation was first announced and implemented by two joint numbers on U96’s 2018 offering Reboot. Transhuman sees U96 and Wolfgang Flür develop their creative exchange across a full album, creating fascinating sonic worlds. The title song ‘Transhuman’ and an updated version of ‘Zukunftsmusik (Radiophonique)’ will be released as lead singles, including, as we’ve come to expect from U96, experimental video clips. That New York record label Radikal Records immediately secured the rights to the album for the US and Canada points to major interest in this project, not only on these shores but also across the Atlantic.
“Transhuman is a stylistic mélange of our different histories,” describe Wolfgang Flür and U96 masterminds Hauss and Lewerentz an offering that is spectacular in many respects, featuring, along with typical U96 tracks such as ‘Clone’ and ‘Specimen’, numbers such as ‘Transhuman’, ‘Planet In Fever’ and ‘Sexersizer’ that are inspired by Flür’s past. Notably, the content has been reduced to the sheer basics, in other words: sparingly used associative statements with deep, but at times also playful and mysterious messages that the listener feels rather than consciously registers. The lyrics are about the transformation of people through technology and our massive interference in life on our planet. Hauss: “Pieces like ‘Zukunftsmusik’ and ‘Transhuman’ don’t tell a story in the classic sense, they articulate emotions and associations in very few words, bringing to mind recordings such as Radio-Aktivität, Autobahn and Die Mensch-Maschine. In addition Transhuman, features a number of melodies created on the basis of computer algorithms, in other words fractal music which takes us even further back in history, to Klaus Schulze, Stockhausen, the electronics laboratories of the fifties and sixties and the musique concrete compositional technique.”

Distance feels ingrained in how we all navigate the world at the moment, we’re hoping to bring you a little closer together with iota’s new release on Pure Space. It feels like exactly what we’ve been craving; a moment of calm, rhythms to soothe, sit back and get carried away to.
Having self-released a number of EP’s in the past year iota has pricked up the ears of the Australian music community with his take on minimal tek, electro and acid. His debut release on Pure Space delivers three original tracks spanning the breadth of minimal club music. Accompanying the release are two remixes, one from Melbourne's famed lizard Reptant and another from IDM producer DBR.
On the A-side iota kicks it off with ‘Terminus’, here deep under a tight electro beat lurks a staunch bassline intertwined with playful pads and soft acid-like tones. It’s a textural and delicately refined track, with each sound finding its perfect place within the piece. Up next is ‘Cloudtek’; where gentle percussion dances softly on a bed of textured sampling that truly takes the edge off the stomping 4/4 beat..
Flipping to the B-side you will find ‘Noxi’, a lurking, moody atmospheric track. Curious psy-inspired samples follow you through the piece and a continual shift in the percussion builds tension and a sense of movement to ensue.
Complementing the release Melbourne’s Reptant puts a deeper electro-acid take on ‘Terminus’. His Lizard-Tech mix plays up the acid elements of the original and sits on the darker end of the scale. The acid drones demand attention and the new baseline brings the beat to the forefront of your mind.

We as people move alongside technological advancements & this has the power to ‘connect & isolate’ Our personal relationships with one another also take on new forms as our tools for communication change. This inspires creative action. The human response to modern devices can result in surreal and unfamiliar expressions. In terms of music, our instant access to information from the past & engrained intuitions lead us to revisit atavistic rhythms of the past & reinterpret them with new sensibilities. We create music from the ‘Now’ that traverses the ‘Past’ with sights set on the future!
Bonds created from this expression can withstand and even strengthen even when inter-continental physical distance is imposed - forcing us to look inward to investigate the true depth of relationships forged out of creative expression. Rhythm has been used for millennia to locate the deepest parts of the soul & to re/connect spirits - this is true also in the modern age. Certain feelings cannot be expressed via digital text-communications nor with words alone; Music is the answer. Connection through disconnection.
The Artwork on the B-side of this record is a symbol of the individual, isolated & pinned down by the spindle, falling, spiralling, a metaphor for whatever turns you inward. The needle on the record emanates the rhythm”
PHZ004 - Sedgwick’s first return to Vinyl since PHZ001’s Digitale Djungle. Five cuts of proper underground material for dancers and deejays alike. Sedgwick’s homecoming is aplomb with hot, headsy electro interposed across a lewd landscape of tripped-out transmissions. We get straight to it with ‘Metal Detector’, a bewitching, twisted work-out delivered with such conviction it could be straight from 1997 Anthony Rother. With elements of breaks, electro and techno - ‘Exit’, the A2, is a pulsating peregrination around the geography of underground sound; hybrid heads - take note. On the flip of the record we are greeted with 'Pleasuresque' a quasi-old school breaks track which delivers a vibey electronic grit, balanced carefully with serene pad work and sparse moments in the track - it's the masterful arrangement here which allows Sedgwick to push the musical tension to the next level. Elsewhere, ‘Blue Print’ is a beautifully paced synthetic trip, one for the “sun coming through the shutters” crew. Closing things is ‘Bermuda Dream’, a markedly poised, high-octane dreamscape of emotional intelligence and a confident gaze ahead. Welcome to the future.

Art Kinder Industrie was a band
from Tarbes, south of France. Formed in 1988 by Xavier Vincent (R.I.
P.) and David Carretta it was the first EBM act in France to have
distilled the legacy of DAF, Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. Active between
the end of the eighties and beginning of the nineties their output
consisted of a few self released tapes and various live performances.
Lux Rec selected 6 tracks produced between 1988 and 1990 to be
released on vinyl. Andrea Merlini remastered them analogically, truthful
to the spirit of that age. In collaboration with Unknown Pleasures
Records.
Through the Gate of Hell a Wild Savage Forest of Wretched Souls had let me Frozen and Faint. Now all is heard. Lux Rec presents the second appearance of Echo 106 on the label.
The two brothers descended into Infernal Regions to witness torturing flames, black magic woods, seas of damned souls and ice cold bodies. So brave, although not without any fear, they went close enough to sense such pains themselves. Carving five songs that depict their gloomy journey to an extent that, as the last song says, all is heard indeed.
The EP comes in a double 12" outfit with a gatefold sleeve. The front picture is a work of Giandomenico Carpentieri. The production has been curated by D Cosmo.

Mysterious and masked techno talent Paul Villard unveils more of his musical weaponry on the Lone Romantic label this August.
Nothing is known about this artist but from the fact that, “strange and unusual superhuman powers and abilities” came to him after a “gamma accident.” He has released on Blind Allies and Applied Research, remixed Carl Finlow and is a producer with a cinematic electro sound.
Futuristic opener 'Side Effects’ is a bumping electro cut with a stuttering drum pattern and squelchy synth funk from another planet. ‘Submarine Limousine’ keeps up the cyborg styles with a crisp electro groove that is run through by sci-fi vocals and effects, while ’Fluid Dynamics’ is all watery synth droplets and fractured vocals panning about the mix. Taught bass stabs keep you on your toes and make for an otherwordly robot disco vibe.
The second half of this well-crafted EP starts with the glowing pads and creepy atmospheres of
‘Bioluminescence’, a classic Drexcyian electro jam that charges hard and deep into the cosmos. ‘Neon Death’ is an explosion of coruscated synth lines and bumping bass, tripped out machine sounds and warped electro-techno before closer ‘C.A.R.R.I.O.N.’ zones you out with intense ambient pads and modulated synths that are restless and paranoid.

Tresor's newest release features BNJMN on Body Reflections Pt. 1.
The four track EP captures a uniquely subdued mood that resides at the nexus of ambient dance music, and that integrates seamlessly with Tresor's penchant for restrained and dub-inflected techno.
Each track on the EP introduces symmetry and rhythm in the form of organic percussion. "Overskies" and "Enceladus" are more lethargic and ethereal, each blanketed with discordant melodies and arcing synth lines. "Hadal Zone" is more dance-oriented - here, a sophisticated interplay of percussive elements loop over plaintive vocals and soft harmonies. "Syzygy" then brings the EP to a techno-focused close with driving kicks, oscillating synths, and repeating minor chords.
Body Reflections Pt. 1 is deeply illustrative of BNJMN's affinity for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.
Collector is the solo project of Jason Campbell who resides in Newcastle, Australia. Forced Extraction is his first release for Beat Concern following an LP on the Melbourne-based Drawing Heat, and tapes for seminal labels, Night People and Clan Destine Records. Campbell has honed his unique take on experimental techno over the last few years by building compositions with all analogue hardware and modular synthesis. Forced Extraction sees Collector at his most incisive, carving out four pummelling tracks across the 12". Suction Records is proud to present 'II' - a new, archival EP release by Italian duo D'Arcangelo. We like to think of 'II' as an imaginary sequel to the duo's classic 1996 debut EP on Aphex Twin's legendary, now-defunct Rephlex Records (also reissued on Suction last year).
Just like their debut EP, the material on 'II' was recorded in the '90s using hardware synths, samplers, and FX. Also like their debut, 'II' similarly features fierce, crunchy industrialized electronix on Side A, backed with melodic, robotic electro (the D'Arcangelo brothers call these tracks their 'Diagrams') on Side B. Four of the six tracks are previously unreleased, while 'AOM*2' (an absolute monster Rephlex-style distorted beat track) and 'Diagram IX' (a timeless slice of early-Human League-style synth pop) come from long-out-of-print '90s vinyl comps on Eclectic Records and Suction Records, respectively.

Scand resident Steve Allman brings together the fast-paced sounds of Detroit and London electro in his debut EP on EON Records.
A key part of London’s longest running electro night Scand for ten years, the south London producer has played alongside the genre’s most important figures The Advent, Detroit in Effect
and Andrea Parker included - delivering consistently high velocity all vinyl sets. Allman’s approach to the dancefloor comes out in its full majesty here on Brainwave. Driven with analogue bass from the Novation Bass Station 2 that’s central to his studio set up, the EP is an uptempo booty moving selection of tracks. Sonically the EP is an expression of Allman’s ear for fast-paced 90s era Detroit electro and the UK’s rave edged take on the sound calling upon freaky synth work, heavy bass patterns and eerie rave stabs to colour the release. What we hear on Brainwaves across the three original tracks is pacey, buoyant and sub-weighted - a record ready to be played loud when the systems are turned back on. Closest influence and mentor Sync 24 drops a bomb of a remix for the title track Brainwave, weaponising it a step further adding a deadly acid scrawl.
Nested Structure is the first Great Circles release from artists outside of Philadelphia. THRIVE are Tetsuya Yoshida and Hitoshi Kojima. They both grew up in the North Kanto area of Japan. They first met at the club run by Tetsuya Yoshida called SOUND A BASE NEST, which is known as having the best sound system in the North Kanto area. In 2007, the duo started their DJ / Producing unit THRIVE. Previous releases have included a split 12' with Keia Yano for Japanese label Struct, and recent solo releases by Hitoshi for Always Human Tapes and for his own label Ambivalent Deviation. This record almost didn't happen! --- Tetsuya and Hitoshi were picking up Great Circles records in Japan and, having periodically communicated with each other about music, they sent us the Struct 12' to check out. While
cleaning out the back of the car a few months later, the presumably empty record mailer was about to land in
the recycle bin when we fortunately discovered a demo CD of unreleased THRIVE material inside. We drove
around listening to it and week later we agreed to release a 12'. The music on the Nested Structure 12' is dark, foreboding, even outwardly threatening. It's hypnotic, textural and rhythmically complex.

The Bitta label boss turns around the final track twice, adding his deep techno hypnotism creating two powerful remakes. "When I heard Follakzoid's music for the first time, I felt like what we are trying to express are fundamentally similar. In other words, I felt like we are both trying to reach the same destination. And one day we met each other in the forest. Domingae and I discovered that we share the same love for Cortozar. The encounter between Follakzoid and myself is a game designed by the universe. Therefore our collaboration was a destiny, but it also imposed me the most difficult challenges I faced in my music life. I'm extremely relieved and grateful to be able to present the result as a piece of work here."

Luca Duran's razor-sharp nous for a groove is immediately reestablished on the flip with the patient, acidic 'Life Wires', a deceptively complex analogue jam that bubbles with analogue energy and left field details. The EP concludes with 'Circunavalar', an ethereal blend of Luca Duran's sublime oscillations that leads listeners and dancers gently to a conclusion to a spacious heaven of meditative bass weight. Daft Punk's 'ALIVE 2007' set, which won 2 Grammy Awards in 2009 (Best Electronic Album and Best Electronic Single categories) and was previously only available on CD and digital, will be released for the first time as a double vinyl with a triple gatefold sleeve.
Derived from their live performance at Bercy on 14 June 2007, this album was originally published the same year on November 19th. Through this amazing live experience, Daft Punk manipulated and reworked their established material, transposing and deconstructing the structures of their studio tracks.
A limited edition of 'ALIVE 2007' will be released at the same time, in a special box including the album on 2 solid white vinyls, plus a vinyl bonus (Side A: the show's encore (human after all / together / one more time (reprise) / music sounds better with you) /Side B : 'ALIVE 2007' pyramid logo etched), a 52 pages book (pictures taken during the shows), a slipmat and a download card.
'ALIVE 1997' is also being reissued separately. Recorded in 1997 in Birmingham during their first European tour, a few months after the release of 'Homework', this first live testimony was released in 2001. 45 minutes of non-stop live mixing, featuring the band's first standard tracks (Da Funk, Rollin' & Scratchin'...) along with those techno-electronic explosions unique to Daft Punk!

A trio of guitar, bass and drums, Elektro Guzzi overcome the boundary between analogue versus digital, performing techno live with the drive of a machine and the sonic detail of an instrument - without any computers or loopers. For their upcoming album Polybrass, Elektro Guzzi have drastically expanded their sonic repertoire: both in the studio and on stage, they are joined by an ensemble of three trombonists, opening up a whole new realm of possibilities. With Hilary Jeffrey, Daniel Riegler and Martin Ptak, the band are joined by three brass heavyweights, each of them well renowned for both their solo ventures as well as projects such as The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Sand and Zeitkratzer. By treating the three trombones not simply as a set of extra instruments but rather as one coherent body of sound on its own, Elektro Guzzi dissociate the brass instruments from their conventional use and repurpose them into something completely different: a modular synthesizer, with each trombone representing one oscillator. In doing so, Elektro Guzzi add new layers of depth to their music, emphasizing a more cinematic side of their music: like the soundtrack for a movie, Polybrass is bigger, darker, more dramatic, more intimate. Warm and fuzzy textures float weightlessly above fragile soundscapes and complex sonic fragments. At the same time, the band's signature sound runs distinctly through the entire album: solid percussive grooves, stripped down to the absolute minimum it takes to make your body move. Hypnotic repetition, building tension and suspense up to a point where the energy of the music gets so intense you feel like you can physically touch it with your hands, interlaced with organic patterns of sound, constantly changing and evolving, pulsating and oscillating. Too Smooth Christ returns to Supergenius Records and widens his singular approach to introspective dance music to new musical horizons. 'Infinite Fall DMZ' is a slow house jam built around a hypnotic and endless FM pattern and a strong chorus bass, emphasized by a myriad of shiny bittersweet 101 sparks. 'PHEQS125', originally made for TSC current live act, triggered such keen reactions in clubs that we decided to cut it down. It's an acidish banger, elaborated around a 303 pattern, a rave detuned bassline and a b-more breakbeat, tickled by synthetic voices. With its rainforest chords and melodies and its muffled breakbeat, the eponymous track 'With You In mind' is a love declaration between balearic house and old-school Jungle / IDM. 'Etoile' closes the EP with its UK bass vibe, a combination of tribal drum patterns and a grime beat and narrative bassline which will attract you in some mysterious caverns where the magic monsters hide.

''When I started to conceptualize my album I had a few end goals'', explains Parasole. ''I wanted to string my own style through Infrared Vision, so it would be familiar to the people who like my music. In tandem, I strived to produce a fresh voice sonically and experimented with a few new production techniques. I also grabbed ideas outside of techno and house, because I didn't want to be influenced by anything new. I was listening to a lot of jazz, hip-hop, Nine Inch Nails and Prince for example.''
Parasole took his time to write, produce and record Infrared Vision, dividing the process into three steps. ''First I wrote the album in words, pinning down ideas and track concepts on a notepad. Subsequently I transferred my ideas to my gear. Due to a heavy tour schedule I sometimes brought gear with me on the road, to continue my sketch process on the hardware. I then recorded it at home and at Phil Moffa's studio in New York. When the music was fully finished the album morphed to its final version. Phil Moffa laid down the final mixdown at Butcha Sound Studios, while Marco Spaventi handled the mastering.''

For the second installment in their 12' series Music From Memory present two deeply forward thinking electronic tracks from British musician Michal Turtle made between 1983-4.
The first track 'Are you Psychic' is taken from Turtle's obscure 'Music From The Living Room' album which Michal recorded literally in the living room of his family's South London house at the young age of 22.
Over-running his parents' front room with various synthesizers, amps and instruments, and setting up a portable four track studio the 'Music From The Living Room' tracks were built around live jams that took place alone or sometimes with musicians he would invite to play alongside him. Whilst seemingly sample based the instruments were played live and any voices or sound effects were actually recorded directly to tape, or put onto tiny 2.5 second cassette loops.
'Astral Decoy' was made in the year following the release of his only solo LP and forms part of a series of unreleased tracks that reflect a growing interest in combining electronics with more analogue elements such as Xylophone and live percussion. At the same timce this track draws inspiration from the sound of electro and boogie which Michal had become greatly interested in at the time, and in particular the work of musicians such as Grandmaster Flash.
With access to the archives of the many recordings made at his family home, this 12' serves as an introduction to a wider compilation of Michal Turtles works which is to follow on Music From Memory.
