Diamond Version is a collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and forward thinking creators in modern music, Byetone and Alva Noto.As joint heads of the German-based label Raster-Noton, and with solo projects Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) and Byetone (Olaf Bender), they have been releasing work that spectacularly blurs the lines between the visceral and the conceptual, bridging the gap between gallery and dancefloor.Opening the EP series is Technology At The Speed Of Life / Empowering Change. So naturally when Trevino said he'd be happy to put some tracks out on Pips, Appleblim was buzzing...'Indulge' has been a mainstay of his sets and shows Marcus's versatility...gentle undulating melodic stabs seem to weave together for an age before hydraulic bursts of wavejumper bass start to fill the gaps. On the flip is an almost lost classic, 'Under Surveillance', many of the DJs who have been dropping this for a while are pleased to see it come out, its dystopian sci-fi stepping rhythm combining with claustrophobic synths spraying all over the gaff! After the amazing View From Above EP on Frantic Flowers we simply couldn't resist to do another project with this guy. Detroit legend Terrence Dixon, the mastermind behind Population One, is a genius in the field of minimalism and reduction. As a truly unique character from the early Detroit techno era, always being true to his own style, this EP brings 4 new cuts in his typical and recognizable sound. Minimalistic monotone rhythms and weird loop constructions, always with the right tension in place, sometimes topped off with spoken words. On the title track 'I Program My Computer Right', a weird guitar loaded affair, Terrence Dixon is accompanied by Ulandra & Tiaria, supplying the vocals. Again a very collectible release on Frustrated Funk's Harbour City Sorrow!

Apartment's 3rd release comes courtesy of acclaimed producer Lerosa. For this, his first release of 2012, he delivers 4 electro-based cuts, a rarely seen side to the man predominantly known for his house productions.
The sparse and melancholic 'Combat' starts off proceedings, before 'Titanium''s throbbing bass, combined with Mr. Rosa's unique melodic sensibilities, increases the pace. On the B-side 'Slavery' is a furious acid jam, constantly rising in energy over hectic percussion and a wall-shaking electro beat. Finishing on 'Decisions', the pace is reduced considerably while the acid stays intact, delivering the 12 inch's only 4/4 kick for what is Lerosa's most euphoric cut to date.

After three Creepy Autograph releases in 2008, Valentine Connexion returns with a five track EP from the little known artist The Abstract Eye. Hot release by Neil Landstrumm & Mat Consume, who did a first Shit & Cheap release on Scandinavia in 2001, and 2012 seems a good year to tear it down with a totally unexpected raw & raving electro banger for the Dutch Shipwrec label. Inspired by 60s surf & garage and later punk & wave, the drum machines are set to give us the essential kicks, claps and hihats we need for that oldschool electro vibe. This release comes in a sick designed three colour silkscreen printed sleeve, limited to 300 copies including a download code.

Blackest Ever Black is releasing the first ever vinyl edition of Gareth Williams and Mary Currie's Flaming Tunes.
This remarkable album was recorded at DDM and Cold Storage in London after Williams had left This Heat and returned from the
first of several trips to India. It was officially released on cassette in 1985, before being bootlegged on CD more than a decade later.
The bootleg in question, the Japan-issued After The Heat, described the Flaming Tunes pieces as "This Heat's final demo
recordings", much to Gareth's understandable dismay - after all, the album marked a conscious attempt to create a music
with a different mood and texture to that of This Heat, one which would allow the full expression of his eclectic
and distinctive tastes.

Ikonika returns with the 'I Make Lists EP', the first full extended release since her 2010 debut album 'Contact, Love, Want, Have' (Hyperdub). Being in the same gene pool as Pat Sharpe's hair is enough of a stigma to steer any young DJ's career off course- deep in the discos of pop trash. Fortunately for Metaphi/Metske , although still benefitting from the same glossy 90's locks as the radio-jock/distant uncle, musical inspiration came from more complex climates. Wigflex006 acts as a fine electronic switchboard to Metaphi's archive of talents, a complicated circuit board of the experimental ranging from hip hop, IDM, and garage to blues harmonicas and classical rifts, seamlessly melted into one gloop of green circuitry where each musical discipline must co-exist with another. As Metske the bpm's hover around 95, the framework is hip-hop, the sound often Skwee but the influences thereafter are endless, Slow Train Blues clicks its way through a steam train intro before marring the lines between electronic music and the blues with a self-composed harmonica rift worthy of Howlin' Wolf. At the same tempo Spin States delves into the cosmic with pipey neon chords and bit-crunched bass: Sega Mega Drive boss level business. Metaphi's taste for big room techno is blatant and genetically Wigflex over Sharpflex, and in terms of nationality it's mongrel, half Notts, half Eastern Europe. With Concious Mentis he's keeping things minimal but charged from lower frequencies and Messmode progresses with some serious dancefloor swagger.

Kamoefleer Wapen EP. (Camouflage Weapon) brings together Vidrio (Alex Lugo) one half of Detroit's most mysterious groups Ultradyne (Pi Gao Movement) and Miami's Gosub (Shad T. Scott) (Abstract Forms/Frustrated Funk) for a very limited release of 300 hand numbered units on special mix colored vinyl. On the a-side Vidrio provides a vocal version of 'Excelsior' with his trademark dark & tough sounds and a very addictive male/female vocals. For the b-side Gosub provides us with 'I Know You Know' a laid-back track with his trademark low-slung baselines, smooth pads, and eerie male/female vocals. This release is not for the faint at heart and not one to miss.

A Made Up Sound aka 2562 and Dexter deliver two remixes for Arttu (ft Jerry the Cat). Nuclear Funk and Get Up Off It get transformed from raw chicago influenced cuts into darker electro/techno hybrids by these two dutch techno wizzards. Both known for their sharp productions that cross over between techno, electro and bass music they have a fresh take on the original versions. By the choice of remixers we didnt expect the standard house remixes, something more challenging would fit the spirit of the originals. This rmx 12'' might be is somewhat of a dark horse in the house orientated Clone Royal Oak catalogue, but expectations are to there be messed up. Tip!

2x12" in White Vinyl! Girl Unit returns with a double EP of his most advanced material yet. In true NS style we present 6 brand new transcendental club tracks from the super-hot producer. Vinyl edition on 2 x white 12".
The Club Rez EP consists of two halves. The first is informed by lead cut "ENSEMBLE" - a mechanised Freestyle party track / robotic beach jam comprised of machine drums, Pulse bass and glossy John "Jellybean" Benitez-inspired breakdowns. The balance between pop sensibility and dancefloor bomb here is unparalleled.
"CAKE BOSS" is a bull-headed tantrum in the club. A relentless blunt stabbing lead delivers punishment as rimshots clatter and toms jack around the 4x4 kick, the whole thing saturated in tape FX.
A subway ride downtown leads to the "PLAZA", another Freestyle-influenced cut, sort of a trackier, loop-driven cousin of "Ensemble". Pro-1 horns and arping bass trade places with stripped back segments of rubbery, efficient drum funk.
The tone for the EP's second half is set on with "DOUBLE TAKE", a cantankerous track that takes some drum programming cues from the Bay Area. As the hydraulics of the intro give way to the drop, the track is engulfed in gloopy bass hits and bubbling oily globules of leads to devastating effect. At the end the track segues into what GIrl Unit describes as a preview of "Double Take 2", fading out on an unexpected sublime moment.
"REZDAY" (or Rezzurection Day), a relative of the EP's title track, is a sports action movie theme, built and reinforced for conflict. Colossal synth horns and layers of guitar synths are driven forward by extreme metal-style pedal kicks as pterodactyls scream and fireworks fizz overhead.
Finally, "CLUB REZ". The crisp digital environment is quickly filled with searing beams of trance synths, growing to an overwhelming size before dropping out to a huge 808 kick pounding the track rhythmically (hence the 'Club' in the title). "Club Rez" echoes Girl Unit's previous work, but it's executed with such light-touch restraint, the results are truly euphoric.

Audiotrix keeps on digging for a newskool Techno, electro, thick and groovy. The wake of the beast !

There wasn't anything impossible for young boy of 16, full of energy,inspiration and desire to play & make music, everything went forward very quickly: acceptance on Latvian dj scene, uncountable events, club residences and radio shows. After 11 successful years on the local Latvian fields in 2010 he deside to move to the next level and moving to UK where started to work on his record label "Seven sisters records", launched in 2012 with Miotek's debut release "Foreign boy goes electro"
