Cyphon Recordings welcome DJ, producer, musician, and D.KO co-owner Flabaire for the fourth outing on the label.
At just 29, the Parisian artist, already has a fair share of victories under his belt. On his acclaimed D.KO imprint, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, he’s released three albums and several EPs, as well as charting releases for Organic-Music, Deeppa Records and South Street.
For his next solo EP, he brings his beautifully affecting and nostalgic blend of electro, IDM, and deep house to Cyphon. Doing what he does best, Flabaire’s ‘Entre-Deux’ is an EP brimming with emotion and atmosphere. Pulling at the heartstrings, opener ‘In Between’ layers an electro beat over lush pads with iridescent synth lines rising out of the haze. Cowbells swing into action, pads swell and glisten, making way for a squelchy 303 to bubble underneath.
‘No Minding’ moves into softer realms, a serene blend of deep house and electronica, it’s paced by a warm bass bounce and shuffling percussion sprinkled with chopped vocal samples and bright keys. Flabaire’s bass mastery continues ‘Click Plok’, as does his deftness at producing delicate, gliding pads, this time punctuated by tight bleeps, gentle open hats, and a meandering synth solo.
Closing out the EP the atmospheric ‘FBG’, a balmy syncopated groove joined by twinkling synth melodies that dance over dusty breakbeats and hushed vocal stutters.
The Obits played their first show on January 12th, 2008 at the Cake Shop in NY, and wow, what a show! Captured live at the time and finally released on vinyl. Eleven songs, ranging from fan favorites like One Cross Apiece and Widow of My Dreams to unreleased tracks like You Took an Axe. Stitched together from organic percussion, field recordings, and textures gathered from across the globe, Vikmatic’s most recent TSoNYC EP, co-produced with label head Danilo Braca, plays like a love letter to New York City, penned in the language of friends and family scattered across its boroughs. Rooted primarily in house, jazz, and Balearic sounds, but pulling just as freely from the sounds of Brazil, Africa, and India, Neighbors moves to the rhythm of a city swept up in the collective pulse of its most lively season.
Playful and minimalistic, “W4 Street” is a jazzy house track that adds a scintillatingly smooth, beachy flair to a nostalgic New York energy for a combination that leaves us unsure of what is improvised and what has been rehearsed to absolute mastery.
The EP’s second track, “Flushing”, represents a dramatic departure from the airiness of the previous one. Haunting and mysterious, with a leaden kick and a capricious synth, there is no question that we are finding ourselves in an entirely different neighborhood.
Early in the track, “Sunset Park” transforms from a deep rumbling into a catchy warm-weather groove with satiny synth layers, textured rhythm, and unhurried guitar and synth solos, evoking a sense of pure ease and beach season contentment.

The first of these is the album’s focus track, THE DAYZ, featuring the spoken words of Jude Moore who hits the proverbial nail on the head with his nostalgic look back at life growing up in the UK around the turn of the millennium. It’s no surprise that he has a massive 670k TikTok followers as his words speak profoundly to an entire generation. With talk of house parties and care-free fun layered over space-disco synths, THE DAYZ exudes a nostalgic vibe before skilfully blending it with punchy drums and a chunky bassline bringing it straight to the here and now. Jotel’s new EP on Warning calls upon long-time family and scene staples for a masterclass in stripped-back, high-impact dancefloor mesmerism. Shifting between rough-edged modular electronics and deep, organic aesthetics, the EP transforms the finest raw machine funk and 2000s-era progressive into mind-bending club anthems.
Opening the A side ‘Udo Suppi’ sets the tone with a rolling, space-infused groove. The Cadets sind eine Indie-Rock-Band aus Gainesville, Florida, die Mitte der 1990er Jahre entstand und Einflüsse aus Surf Rock, Indie-Rock und College-Rock miteinander verbindet. Eight years ago, a deep tragedy struck the West Coast and global electronic music world when Navid Izadi and his mother, Floria Hakimi, died in a plane crash in Southern California. Navid was a true rising star, as anyone who heard his earlier works or felt his magnetic stage presence can attest to, and we all mourn the loss of his creative gifts and one of a kind spirit. In the years that followed, through the diligent efforts of his cousin, Lily, and brother, Aden, Navid's destroyed laptop and hard drive were miraculously restored, recovering crucial files for his work-in-progress debut album, Ayande. Those files were then placed in the adept and careful hands of fellow studio maestro Dave Aju, to complete Navid's mission, along with a gathering of musical family collaborations throughout the wondrous LP
"Birds Of Prey" kicks things off, setting the scene with the deep, spacey, soulful feels Navid was well known for. It includes live drums by John Bryars and additional production work by Tavish DJ & Dave Aju (aka DX3) that send the otherworldly vocoder and arpeggios into the next dimension. Keeping the interstellar vibe high, Diagnostics/Escape" sees Navid take the Trans-LA Express electro flex a step further with cyborg vocals waxing love poetic, leading to an entrancing second movement to finish as an Escape, indeed.
"Andromeda" follows with excellent updated production work by Charles Levine of Soul Clap/Crew Love fame, along with harp bliss from Caroline Campbell, vocal chorus duties by Ayako, Jackson Englund, and Shuggie Quezada, with some bonus piano plot twists and turns from Rodney of Elbow Grease.
"Islands" is an irresistible West Coast boogie jam of the highest order, with the gorgeous lead vocals of Angelica Bess blessing the floor-filling piece perfectly.
"Chica Go,” as the title implies with a wink, functions as a beautiful homage to the windy city, which tactfully ropes in not just deep house flavor but also hip hop via a couple of witty Nav freestyle verses, as well as Chicago blues and jazz motifs via harmonica and trumpet stylings by Matias Tasley and Greg Paulus, respectively.
"IMX" acts as an excellent mid-tempo interlude piece, with bonus hypnotic production by former studio mate and fellow Cali to Berlin brethren Lando Roy, before "Keep It Movin" sends us through the stratosphere complete with a trippy narrative intro by Nima Barsarani and soaring build-up to bridge vox by long time collaborator Sammy D of Pillowtalk. The family collabs continue at scorching temps on "Space Race" where Jesse Rennix lays down beyond heavenly vocal layers, and other other studio sistren Dina Moursi then drops an emotive posthumous duet on "Fingertips" with Paulus again tying lovely horn ribbons in.
"Stardust" launches straight into the cosmos with crisp co-production work by C-Love and appropriately free vocal finesse by Sisters Of Z, before Navid's brother Aden Hakimi offers up a stylized lyrical intro to the new jack-shouting production-prowess touting "Mm Mm,” followed by the grand finale "Never" which flows to a finish lushly with sultry Navid vox, classy harp touches by Campbell again, along with guitar by Chase Aldridge, E-Bow by Cole Odin, and very special guest flute blessings by King George of Sade fame.

Take a look at the sonic landscape of club culture today and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy stands out as one of the pioneers on many fronts. Whether she’s dropping Cosmedelica remixes on her Love Dancin’ sound system at We Out Here festival, hosting listening sessions for her hugely influential Classic Album Sundays, or telling Turntable Tales for BBC’s Radio 4, she has created new avenues for experiencing music and thinking deeply about how it affects us and our communities.
· So here we are at ‘Volume 5’ of this series that once again captures Colleen’s unique take on Balearic. “Anger is Divisive,” runs the spoken word sample weaved into the pastoral ambience of ‘Quiet Storm’ from Sewell and The Gong’s ‘Patron Saint Of Elsewhere’ on Chris Coco’s DSPPR label from 2025. It’s a fitting opening to a collection put together with and for love.
· Born from the same lockdown isolation as ‘Balearic Breakfast’, ‘Fruits of Life’ from Sakura Murakami’s 2020 album ‘Hot Liquor’ offers a Tiki flavoured cocktail of tropical psychedelia.
· Digging deeper into her crates, Colleen then uncovers Flayer’s ‘Wanna Get Back Your Love’, a slow and sleazy piece of cosmic soul from Italy in 1983.
· Richard Earnshaw’s ‘Rise’, featuring Roy Ayers and spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, was hidden away on his only album from 2019.This slow jazz infused groover proves to be the perfect segue record as the collection hits the dancefloor with the Spiritual Life style deepness of ‘Ore Yeye O’ by Moroccan house producer Cee El Assaad and vocalist QVLN (Quetzal Guerrero).
· We then return to spoken word with Joshua Idehen’s diasporic club anthem ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. You’re in it deep now, head down next to the speakers as The Seven Ups bring you ‘A Cosmic Scale’, a heavy slab of psych rock meets Afrobeat by way of Melbourne. We then take a trip over to Sheffield where Richard Barratt under his Crooked Man alias reunites with his dance music subverters All Seeing I for a wonderfully skewed mutant disco classic.
· Bringing things down gently with the sun kissed 1980s soul of Lovetempo ft Wattison’s ‘Wanna Be With You’ (ft. Mattison) out of Brooklyn, Colleen eases into the perfect exit to her eclectic journey with Santana drummer Michael Shrieve joined by Kevin Shrieve and the great Klaus Schulze for the Berlin new age cosmic epic from 1984, Transfer Station Blue’. Music for the head and feet brought to you with love by one of our masters of sonics and selection.
Pariter continues its acclaimed archive series with another essential London tech house reissue from the Strange Weather Studios catalogue. Produced by two of the scene's key figures, Timmy S and Justin Bailey, this release captures a defining moment in the evolution of the UK sound.
Originally released on Wiggle in 2001, the EP arrived during the golden era of Nathan Coles and Terry Francis's legendary Fabric residency, when Strange Weather was helping shape the future of London's underground tech house. More than twenty years on, these tracks have lost none of their impact.
Meticulously remastered from the original DAT masters, the EP features three deep, tripped-out, acid-tinged tech house cuts, now presented on heavyweight 180g vinyl for the first time. Gold.

Communique Records continues with the next re-issue of the sublabel Country Western. This time in the re-bound the most wanted of the series from David Spaans called 3D Bingo. Originally released in 1997. The 20205 version is re-mastered!
When Network Records originally issued “Innovator” in 1991 we knew that the music contained within was timeless. At that time, of course, we had no grasp of how well Derrick’s epic soundscapes would time travel. We christened the collection - “Soundtrack For The Tenth Planet” - because it seemed like the music (and Derrick) had indeed arrived from another world.
The release has been acclaimed as iconic because Derrick, the madcap and maverick philosopher of Detroit Techno, introduced the concept of dance music with a musical and emotional agenda way beyond anything that had come before. Beats with beauty. Literally the strings of life. Where fellow musical geniuses Chic had previously urged everybody to simply "Dance, Dance, Dance" mood alchemist Mayday merged simple yet cerebral dreamscapes with strange and urgent complex dance rhythms and invited us all to Dance And Dream. And in a strange juxtaposed way helped birth the hedonistic Acid House scene with classics “Nude Photo” and “Strings Of Life”
The energy is frenetic, but merged with a new age ambience. The gems collected on this offering were iconic in 1991, now they cause mass hysteria when Derrick turns his one time musical experiments, created in a tiny room in Detroit, and turns them into epic concerts with orchestras and musicians across the globe. “Hand In Hand” existed in 1991 and we wanted to release it then, but it’s taken until now for the complete 13 minute recording to finally meet the world.
It will be revered, because like all of Derrick May’s music it is life affirming. Emotions Electric indeed.
The original “Innovator” release was housed on one single slab of wax. This time around we have expanded it to two discs to make space for “Hand Over Hand” and also so everything elsewhere - masterpieces remastered - can be presented in a complete and superior fashion. Whatever the tweaks, changes and updates etc all these years on, this music still sounds gloriously alien and groundbreaking. But there’s still no Tenth Planet.

Canine Cracks is the new artistic project of Benedetta and Romain Play (aka Camion Bazar). Known as DJs, event organizers, producers, and vinyl collectors, they're now returning to their roots and their first love: rock, post-punk, and massive mosh pits, instruments plus drum machines, and intense live performances. Everything is created in their own studio, located in the French countryside, where they retreat to escape the mad world. These two friends are animal rights activists fighting for animal liberation and are using this album and project to say ""fuck"" to animal exploitation and human supremacy over minorities."

Savy Records' seventh release marks the label debut of Matti Turunen, one half of Finnish electro outfit Morphology and a cult figure across the wider electro scene. Rantaluhta EP is a timeless masterpiece. Synth-heavy throughout, it moves from bass-driven, Detroit-rooted machinery into a more euphoric, rave-leaning close -- a record that shows real range within the electro spectrum. On the flip, veteran producer Carl Finlow, contributes a remix under his Silicon Scally alias, pushing 'Oleanterinkiitaja' into trippy and galactic machine-funk territory.
"Once Turin-based producers Mattia and Massimo joined forces under the Voodoos & Taboos moniker, they quickly became a notable force in contemporary club music. A crafty take on house music, combining groove with sculpted production work and a bent for lush melodies, drawing from a wide range of influences - anything that borders on the electronic genres really, and beyond - fueled their own namesake imprint with 6 EP's and landed them spots on a variety of top-tier labels. We have been keen to work with these artists for a long time, and are thrilled this finally materializes with the release of ALT027. Title track "Sempre Sognar" immediately sets out the duo's floor-focused intentions. Breakbeat-laced drums gradually build momentum before a formant lead drops in. It trades phrases with an equally infectious organ that's eventually joined by a 303 pattern for the track's finale. Similar vibrating, buzzy leads thrust "Take Me" forward. Amid heavily delayed vocal samples, the proggy beat takes a more trippy turn however. Synthesized idiophone interludes create room for moments of repose, although not entirely unambiguous ones. A subtly detuned lead and more sleek acid lines are supported by the type of arp bass that characterizes Voodoos & Taboos' sound on the B-side's "Revolution". A collage of broadcast and war-movie lines alike not only adds color, but underlines the sense of indeterminate imminence that looms throughout the track. B2 "Afterhouse" sees the BPM drop a notch, yet the palette shows no signs of winding down; it is downright exuberant. As different arpeggiated melodies play call and response, tape-delayed chords, alarm-like risers, and sprinkles of guitar add extra flavor. This does not lead to excess, however. Everything is carefully measured and kept in check: after all, at the helm are two artists who understand that perfection lies in getting a great many small things exactly right."

On 24th May, 2024, the exact day of its Golden Jubilee, Diamond Dogs will be issued as a limited edition 50th anniversary half-speed mastered LP. The first single from the album, ‘Rebel Rebel’, reached number 5 in the UK and the album would also reach similar heights on both sides of the Atlantic reaching number 1 in the UK and number 5 in the USA.
This new pressing of Diamond Dogs was cut on a customised late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics from 192kHz restored masters of the original master tapes, with no additional processing on transfer. The half-speed was cut by John Webber at AIR Studios
The writing of the album was influenced by Bowie not being able to secure the rights for a theatrical production of George Orwell’s 1984 and the work of William S. Burroughs, whom Bowie had interviewed for Rolling Stone in November 1973. The songs on the album created an urban apocalyptic scenario with Bowie appearing on the cover as a controversial half-man, half-dog hybrid painted by the Belgian artist Guy Peellaert from photos by the world-renowned photographer Terry O’Neill. Since its release, tracks from Diamond Dogs have been covered by artists such as Beck, Tina Turner, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Joan As Police Woman, Dead Or Alive and The Struts.

Originally released in 1983, Harry ‘O by Noa-Noa is one of those truly unique Italo treasures. Written by Guido Ranzani and Luigi Piergiovanni, this outstanding production combines a hauntingly beautiful melody with exceptional electronic arrangements, capturing the unmistakable spirit of the golden age of Italian electronic dance music. It is both a huge honour and a personal pleasure for me to present my own interpretation of this extraordinary masterpiece. The Flemming Dalum Remix stays faithful to the original vintage Italo atmosphere, while injecting fresh energy, more power and a contemporary electronic edge – without losing the magic that made the original so special. And then there’s the Flemming Dalum Dub Version – taking things even deeper into Flemming’s dark signature underground sound. A powerful journey into hypnotic sequences, driving electronics and pure ELECTRO ITALO territory! This release is something truly special to me. Not simply another remix, but a celebration of the incredible creativity and musical vision that defined the original Italo Disco era. And above all, a heartfelt tribute to the late Luigi Piergiovanni, whose musical legacy will continue to inspire generations of Italo Disco lovers. Respect to the original. Passion for the sound. A DJ, producer and significant figure in contemporary electronic music, Marcel Dettmann steps forward to contribute to Running Back’s ongoing Mastermix series. Whereas previous editions of Mastermix have taken an ear to the sound of lapsed, legendary clubs such as Wild Pitch and Front, Dettmann’s curation deftly captures the man himself in ongoing perpetual motion, raiding the vault for his own precision-tooled edits, long-employed on dancefloors to devastating effect. Alongside a continuous mix, this release arrives as a 3LP gatefold, and as a limited edition cassette.
Closely associated with Berlin’s techno landscape, Dettmann was born and raised in the former GDR, then later immersed in the bleary-eyed counter cultural landscape of post-unification Berlin. Initially oriented by post-punk, industrial and new-wave music, Dettmann has been DJing since 1993, always expanding and perfecting his repertoire. He later began working behind the counter at the city’s tastemaking rave boutique Hard Wax, and a decade after he first dropped a needle, became (and remains) resident at notable local nightspot Berghain/Panorama Bar, where his instincts have helped sculpt the signature sound of both main dancefloors.
Of course, you’re probably not asking, “Who is Marcel Dettmann?” More importantly, you might want to know; just what treats has he gifted us here? The trip begins with a simple pitch-shift skywards, transforming Identified Patient’s creeping ‘The Female Medical College of Pennsylvania’ into a peak-time freakout, before an alternate take on Toctronic’s ‘Bis uns das Licht vertreibt’ emerges from the vaults for the first time. Dating from 1995, and one of Dettmann’s all-time favourites, Cristian Vogel’s ‘Untitled’ clambers back into the box with respectable cuts, while John Bender’s ‘Victims of A Victimless Crime’ kicks off the flip sporting a new arrangement, transporting us back to the foundations of a confident, stripped-back sound.
A few subtle edits to Clark’s perilously funky ‘Dirty Pixie’ takes us to Dettmann’s remix of Junior Boys. Produced in 2010, it transposes the Canadian duo’s sophisticated pop with our curator in his minimal prime, and has since become an irresistible prize for high-minded diggers. The same can be said for Experimental Products’ explosive proto-electro anthem ‘Who Is Kip Jones?’, empowered from pricey Discogs purgatory with just the slightest of tweaks. It’s deservedly sandwiched between the guiding influences of Chicago and Detroit in the form of Mutant Beat Dance’s raw ‘The Human Factor’ and a shimmering new version of previous solo production ‘Water’, featuring close friend and Ostgut Ton ally, Ryan Elliot.
The second half of the Mastermix seamlessly connects the mechanical past and digital present of EBM and industrial in the dance, with Dettmann’s instincts as a guiding hand. Severed Heads’ iconic ‘We Have Come To Bless This House’ emerges with mere nips and tucks, while Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Shame’ is significantly reimagined as a highwire act of rhythm and tension, setting up a sensual second take on a 2017 remix of ‘Limbo’ from Swiss synth heroes, Yello.
Core musical memories are shaken and stirred with a context-shifting take on Frank Duval’s emotional classic ‘Ogon’, while Ian North’s ‘Sex Lust You’ and Ford Proco’s notable Coil collaboration ‘Expansion Naranja’ effectively throb with only minor adjustments, respectfully imagined as “shadow versions”. Meanwhile, a simple breakbeat lifts Albert Kuningas’s ‘Astraalprojektio’ in the direction of wide-eyed dancefloors, while a fresh take on K-Alexi Shelby’s ‘Season of The Real’ inexplicably emerges somehow even funkier than before.
The conclusion of the compilation leads back to Das Tier from the prolific experimentalist Conrad Schnitzler, whose swirling synths and hypnotic vocals are duly tightened by Dettmann, but only as he puts it, “in conversation with the original.” Concluding three discs and thirty years of commitment to the dancefloor, this Mastermix not only offers us the opportunity to eavesdrop on this endless exchange, but to gain some sought-after material for our own record collections.
Rich Oddie of Orphx and Alex Pi of Pi Electronics introduce Anaxia, a new project arriving on Veyl with the 7-track LP “Maska”.
Built from raw electronics, stripped-down drum machines and a stark post-punk pulse, the record sits somewhere between industrial pressure and the ghostly minimalism of Suicide. It is direct but shadowed, physical but restrained, with vocals from Oddie and Pi cutting through the machinery rather than sitting on
top of it. Oddie’s background in Canada’s industrial underground and Pi’s long-running connection to the Greek electronic scene meet in a sound that feels tense, reduced and fully intentional. KAOSMOS and Florian Engerling add additional vocals, while remixes from In Trance 95 and Veyl regulars Years of Denial extend
the material into darker, more hypnotic territory. With “Maska”, Anaxia deliver a debut that feels fully formed: nocturnal, focused and stripped to its essentials. A natural fit for Veyl, the record draws a line between post-punk, industrial electronics and body music without overexplaining itself.
Behind The Mask is back with its third release signed by Lorenzo Aribone. The EP features four dancefloor tracks, characterized by a hypnotic and energetic atmosphere. The sound ranges from dark and light sounds, with an acid touch characteristic of the label.

Following July's remastered reissue of Robert Hood's "Invincible", M-Plant's Perpetual Masters series continues with "The Metronome" set for a vinyl release in September, coming after the digital versions which dropped in the summer.
Robert Hood's "The Metronome" distils techno to its barest, most hypnotic pulse. Over the two tracks, Hood strips rhythm down to ticking hi-hats, lean kicks and looping motifs that feel mechanical yet human. The grooves are relentless but never cold, building tension through subtle shifts instead of excess. Originally released in 2002, it remains a masterclass in minimalism: precise, cerebral and intensely physical that still sounds futuristic more than two decades on.
Like other releases in the Perpetual Masters series "The Metronome" has been remastered by legendary German producer, Thomas Heckmann.
Greer delivers a hyper textural masterclass in experimental sound design through their debut album, 'Seven Wise Dogs Bless You With Their Kindness'. Originally hailing from Meanjin, a scene known for outstanding musical output and consistently interesting variety, Greer has brought this spirit into Naarm's musical landscape with careful consideration and style. "Independence," an improvisational work recorded in 1969 by the jazz group New Directions, featuring Masayuki Takayanagi on guitar, Motoharu Yoshizawa on bass, and Yoshisaburo Toyozumi on drums, is being set for release in the 11th installment of "Spin This Now!
The recording took place at Teichiku Kaikan Studio on September 18, 1969, over the course of approximately six hours beginning at 6:30 p.m.
