Nach dem Erfolg der ersten zehn Alben der Vinyl Edition von Hyperion (veröffentlicht im September 2024
und März 2025) folgen nun sechs weitere LPs. Alle Alben erscheinen erstmals auf Vinyl und zeigen weltweit
tourende Künstler, mit denen das Label seit langem eng zusammenarbeitet. Jeder der sechs Titel wird als
limitierte 180g-LP erscheinen, die in einem vollfarbigen Gatefold präsentiert wird und mit einem Begleitheft
ausgestattet ist.
Die Zusammenarbeit von Hyperion mit Stephen Layton und Polyphony hat im Laufe der Jahre zu einigen
der besten Choraufnahmen geführt, die es gibt, und Eric Whitacre: Cloudburst & other choral works
ist wirklich etwas Besonderes: Das für einen Grammy nominierte Album wurde von BBC Radio 3 als
„atemberaubend“ und von der Times als „ein Gewinner“ beschrieben und machte Whitacres einzigartige
kompositorische Stimme einem weltweiten Publikum bekannt.
Polyphony wurde 1986 von Stephen Layton für ein Konzert in der King’s College Chapel in Cambridge
gegründet. Seitdem hat der Chor regelmäßig Konzerte gegeben und Aufnahmen gemacht, die von Kritikern
in der ganzen Welt gelobt wurden

Mit ihrem Studio-Debütalbum haben LA LOM aus Los Angeles die Messlatte für groovende Latin- und
Soul-Instrumentals mit Retro-Touch sehr hoch gehängt. Zac Sokolow (Guitar), Jake Faulkner (Bass) und
Nicholas Baker (Drums/Percussion) sind seitdem fleißig durch die USA und Europa getourt und haben sich
mit heißen Konzerten in packend vollen Clubs viele Fans erspielt.
Deshalb wurde es jetzt höchste Zeit für ihr erstes Live-Album. “Live At Thalia Hall” wurde in der bekannten Konzerthalle in Chicago mitgeschnitten, in der LA LOM eine kreisrunde Bühne mitten im ekstatisch
mitgehenden Publikum bespielten.

Wenn du ASHEN noch nicht kennst, wird sich das mit ihrem Debütalbum “Chimera” ändern „Chimera“ klingt wie ein Ich, das in zwei Hälften zerbricht. Aus dem Pariser Underground bringt die moderne Metalcore-Band Ashen frischen Wind ins Genre der harten Musik. Mit ihrem ersten Album stellen sie sich nicht einfach nur vor, sie reißen ein ganzes Universum auf. Eines, das aus Schmerz, Ekstase, Wahn und Klarheit zusammengenäht ist. Dieses Album ist alles, nur nicht vorhersehbar. Metalcore wie durch ein Kaleidoskop gesehen: filmisch, instabil, wunderschön verstört. „Chimera“ ist ein brutaler, aber zugleich schöner Abstieg in verdrängte Emotionen - eine Suche nach etwas Echtem unter all dem Lärm. Eine langsame Verwandlung, wie das eigene Spiegelbild, das sich verändert, in etwas Fremdes, vielleicht Wahreres. Trotz seiner Komplexität verliert das Album nie seine Seele. Der Sound ist modern und maximalistisch – jeder Glitch, jeder Drop, jeder Sound wirkt durchdacht. Man hört, dass hier eine Band am Werk ist, die jedes Detail liebt, nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch textlich. „Chimera“ ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem eigenen Werden: damit, was passiert, wenn man sich der verzerrten Version seiner selbst stellen muss - der Version, die durch Schmerz entstanden ist.

Vier Jahrzehnte, nachdem der Song das College-Radio erhellte und die bemerkenswerte Karriere von R.E.M. begründete, sendet „Radio Free Europe“ ein brandneues Signal aus. Angeführt wird diese 5-Track-EP vom ursprünglichen Produzenten der Band, Mitch Easter, der auch die letzten beiden Studioalben von R.E.M., Accelerate und Collapse Into Now, produziert hat. Angeführt wird die EP von einem bisher unveröffentlichten 2025er-Remix des GRAMMY-Gewinners Jacknife Lee (Taylor Swift, U2, The Killers, Weezer). Abgerundet wird das Set durch vier seltene Kassetten-Demos von 1981, darunter „Wh. Tornado“ und ‚Radio Free Dub‘, die beide ihr digitales Debüt feiern. On the cover of 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living, the new album by Asher White, The Statue of Liberty is in pieces but not destroyed - in progress, being built, not yet complete. Her torch is on the ground, her head somewhere out of frame. Before she was a symbol, she was metal, and living, sweating people riveted her together. The spirit of de/construction characterizes 8 Tips, White's 16th LP overall and first since signing to Joyful Noise. Like White's previous albums, 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living darts boldly among varied musical styles. Doom metal splits open into bossa nova; psychedelic rock and power pop flip into industrial techno. Each song emerges from its composite parts in the studio: White doesn't draft or demo before recording, but builds out her pieces sculpturally, sound by sound. "It's forever collage, forever assemblage," she says of her music. "To me, it has more to do with J Dilla, L.A. beat, and musique concrète than pop songwriting." The record's quick turns and vivid contrasts reflect White's cultural voraciousness. A writer, painter, and sculptor as well as a musician, she gathers materials constantly, always digging for new ideas in every possible form. The films of Claire Denis, the novels of Clarice Lispector, and the memoirs of Eve Babitz all funnel into White's reflection of 21st century disaster capitalism. 8 Tips is also White's first album to have been mixed outside her Providence studio; after recording it herself, she brought tracks to Seth Manchester (Lightning Bolt, Battles, The Body) who gave the album its brawny, unruly charge. "I was interested in making something that serves dually as a self-help book and a chronicle of self-destruction," says White. Overlaying autobiography onto character vignettes, 8 Tips for Full Catastrophe Living wrenches open the idea of apocalypse - an abrupt disaster rained down on uncomplicated innocents - and peers inside at its bursting, devastated particulars. Apocalypse is slow and uneven. Nations falter as do individual people, clinging fast to their old, dilapidated self-preservation strategies. What saved you in the past might destroy you in the future. Flip it around, shake yourself loose, ruin the person you've known yourself to be, and you might get the chance to become something else. "There have been so many end times, many other apocalypses." White says. "People were writing self-help tips, and people were partying." We have survived catastrophe before. Out of the ruins, people made work - art, books, culture. "I was interested in making something that sounds like a self-help book, but it's actually about self-destruction," says White. "In full catastrophe living, you just have to do a bunch of whippets. This album is mostly about doing whippets. I'm not even kidding."

"When Boys Cry" wird von drei digitalen Vorab-Singles begleitet, bevor es als 45rpm 12" EP in den Plattenläden des Planeten erscheint. Broken Homes and Gardens, das letzte Studioalbum von Michael Hurley, wurde im März 2025 fertiggestellt, kurz bevor Hurley zu seinen letzten Konzerten in Asheville und Knoxville aufbrach. Er hatte in den letzten drei Jahren im The Rope Room Studio in Astoria, Oregon, mit derselben Crew wie bei seinem 2021 erschienenen Album ,The Time of the Foxgloves" (Kati Claborn und Luke Ydstei von The Hackles sowie Toningenieur Brian Bovenizer) an diesen elf Titeln gearbeitet. Wie bei Hurleys LPs üblich, gibt es neben neuen Songs (,Fava", ,The Monkey") auch Überarbeitungen älterer Kompositionen (,Indian Chiefs and Hula Girls", ,Abomidable Snowman"), die eine brillante letzte Sammlung ergeben und eines der bedeutendsten Werke eines amerikanischen Songwriters krönen.

"Songs For Other People's Weddings" ist ein Begleitalbum zum gleichnamigen Buch von Jens Lekman und dem preisgekrönten Bestsellerautor David Levithan, das am 5. August 2025 über ABRAMS erscheint. Das Projekt wurde von der überraschenden Nebenkarriere des beliebten schwedischen Künstlers als Hochzeitssänger inspiriert, die zufällig zustande kam, nachdem Fans seinen Song "If You Ever Need A Stranger (To Sing At Your Wedding)" aus dem Jahr 2004 wörtlich nahmen und ihn einluden, auf ihren Hochzeiten aufzutreten. "Songs For Other People's Weddings" ist ein fiktives Werk über J, einen unglücklich verliebten Musiker, der nebenbei als Hochzeitssänger arbeitet. J trifft sich mit Paaren vor ihrem großen Tag, um mehr über die intimen, seltsamen Dinge zu erfahren, die sie zusammengebracht haben, um einen originellen Song zu schreiben, den er ihnen auf ihrer Hochzeit vorträgt. Aber trotz Js Vorliebe, die perfekten Worte für andere zu finden, scheint er nicht in der Lage zu sein, dasselbe für seine eigene Liebe zu seiner Freundin V. zu tun. Lekman fügt hinzu: "Auch wenn es in dieser Geschichte um eine Beziehung geht und darum, wie sie sich in den Beziehungen und Hochzeiten anderer widerspiegelt, denke ich, dass es vor allem eine Liebesgeschichte über Musik und ihren Wert in einer Zeit ist, in der sie von Tech-Unternehmen abgewertet und in Inhalte verwandelt wird. Ihre Fähigkeit, zu beruhigen und zu verbinden und ihre Rolle in den Übergangsmomenten unseres Lebens, wie zum Beispiel bei Hochzeiten. Es ist ein Liebeslied an Liebeslieder."

The tracks were selected with passion by Medusa Outdoor residents Michael Forzza and Jochen Robberecht who both contributed an unreleased new track, especially for this exclusive anniversary album. The various LP is housed in a beautiful hand-numbered gatefold sleeve. Only 500 copies were pressed in Berlin.

Mit "Smile" liefern Rong Kong Koma ihr drittes Album, und es ist ihr kompromisslosestes. Wo die Vorgänger noch verspielte Umwege nahmen, geht es jetzt direkt durch die Wand. Der Sound ist rau, kantig und voll auf die Fresse. Mit mehr Schmutz als Glanz. "Smile" ist keine einfache Platte. Aber eine zwingende. Zwischen Punk, Indie und einer gesunden Portion Wahnsinn, der große Gefühle kennt, aber keine Pose braucht.

Kicking off the main remix package release, Detroit legend Robert Hood brings his unmistakable raw, relentless and pioneering sound to the table as he reimagines FJAAK's 'Breathe Underwater'. The genre-defining godfather serves up an undeniably signature cut flooded with euphoric energy, thumping grooves, rippling musicality and spaced-out vocal injections, carving out an authentic Floorplan-esque peak-time jam. Berlin-based artist Shed (one of the many monikers of established electronic stalwart Ren? Pawlowitz) is next to feature, delivering another impressive spin on FJAAK's work, this time exploring his vision on 'Micro Expressions'. The remix competition of 'Redemption' drew an overwhelming response from producers worldwide, which made it very difficult to choose a winner. Even though West Code's interpretation was the chosen remix, four other interpretations were so good that FJAAK decided to showcase the talent of Helsmoortel, Genex, Ay Din and Your friend daao by including their reworks on an exclusive Bandcamp-only EP, highlighting the duo's ongoing commitment to to the underground.

Naotero Misuna, known as “Maestro Misuna,” led the Tokyo Cuban Boys, a legendary big band formed in 1949—before Latin music had even taken
root in Japan. With over 300 recordings to their name, they are one of Japan’s most iconic ensembles. Throughout their long career, the band remained
rooted in Latin music while boldly incorporating other genres and contemporary styles. Among their most internationally acclaimed works are those that
focus on traditional Japanese music, such as folk songs and ancient melodies.

This album, Japanese Classical Arts, arranged by the great Norio Maeda, is a masterpiece that transforms Minyo + Latin + Jazz into a thrilling sonic

If any album could conjure up the revolutionary spirit of Jamaica in the mid 1970’s, Tapper Zukie’s invincible M.P.L.A. set would surely be a fighting contender. The coming together of great rhythms and meaningful lyrics in a time of unrest in the country seemed to have made the album all the more urgent and relevant. As time would tell it would also prove to be a lasting success, not only with the hard core reggae fans but also their punk counterparts. Who embraced its militant themes and crossed the album over to a whole new audience. Tapper Zukie (b. David Sinclair, Kingston, Jamaica.) had already returned from a trip to London England by the mid 70’s .Initially sent with help from his parents, brother Blackbeard and producer Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee to remove the youth from his troublesome ways on the streets of Kingston, Jamaica. He had performed some live shows in London and made some recordings for Larry Lawrence, that produced his debut ‘Jump and Twist’. Alongside other recordings that would emerge as his ‘Man A Warrior’ set. But feeling homesick he had returned to Jamaica in 1974 to work with Bunny Lee. His work would consist of arranging sessions and collecting payments to bodyguard, the now very successful producer. His frustration of Bunny Lee’s reluctance to record him led him cutting ‘Judge I Oh Lord’ for producer Lloydie Slim. Bunny Lee’s then recording of Tapper’s ’Natty Dread Don’t Cry’ and its subsequent release aboard, led to an altercation between Tapper and producer. The police had to be called and an offer to provide the singer with a set of rhythms put this matter to rest. The eight rhythms and a further two from Jo Jo Hookim and Ossie Hibbert alongside some free studio time at King Tubby’s Studio would result in the M.P.L.A album.

The rhythm provided by Jo Jo Hookim was a Channel One studio cut by The Revolutionaires based on Little Richards ‘Freedom Blues’ and provided the backdrop to M.P.L.A. The Ossie Hibbert rhythm again cut at Channel One based on The Royals ‘Pick Up The Rockers’ would provide the backdrop to Tapper’s ‘Pick Up The Rockers’. These and the remaining Bunny Lee rhythms, were all cut in a one hour session, at King Tubby’s Studio. ’Don’t Get Crazy’ cut on a rhythm based on the Joe Frazier rhythm to Tony Brevett’s ‘Don’t Get Weary’. ‘Go De Natty’ cut on Cornell Campbell’s ‘Please Be True’, originally a cut to Alexander Henry’s ‘Please Be True’. ‘Stop The Gun Shooting’ runs over Horace Andy’s ‘Skylarking’.’Ital Pot’ cut on Johnny Clarke’s version of Burning Spear’s ‘Creation Rebel. ‘Marcus’ see’s Tapper professing over Johnny Clarke’s ‘Poor Marcus’ .’Chalice To Chalice’ pulls on Johnny Clarke’s ‘Give Me a Love’,’ Don’t Deal With Babylon’ answers Junior Ross and The Spears ‘Babylon Fall’ and ‘Freedom’ rides on the great rhythm of Junior Ross and The Spears ‘Liberty’. An outstanding album cut by one of Jamaica’s finest DJ’s and producers the mighty Tapper Zukie. We hope you enjoy this now timeless set.

This deluxe 2025 vinyl edition of The Grateful Dead's Grayfolded was pressed at Optimal in Germany, known for their high end audiophile pressings.In 1993 Canadian composer John Oswald was invited by Phil Lesh to transform historical recordings of the Dead into something new, along the lines of what they had attempted in their Anthem of the Sun album.

Oswald chose to focus on the Dead’s Dark Star, which, over the courseof a quarter century, they had expanded and transformed in myriad waysin live performances. Oswald was given access to the Vaults, whereover the course of a month, with the guidance of the Dead's resident archivist Dick Latvala, he collected 105 performances, which throughthe following year he formed, folded, fondled, and finessed into a kaleidoscopic unstuck-in-time documentary of the Grateful Dead in someof their most psychedelic, symphonic, and rocking excursions— asingular 110-minute fantasy performance.Here it is, Deadheads, the ultimate Dark Star is now on vinyl. Angel Bat Dawid's International Anthem debut The Oracle introduced her multifaceted voice to the world. The response to its modest, initial cassette/digital release in January of 2019 was immediate, and immense. Within a month of its announcement, Dawid was being featured on magazine covers and receiving offers from international festivals; and her subsequent activity marked the beginning of an epic run of creative output (including 2020's LIVE double LP, the same year's EP Transition East, 2021's Hush Harbor Mixtape Vol. 1 Doxology, and the sprawling opus Requiem for Jazz, released in 2023) that continues through the present.

The collection of compositions on The Oracle present a deep blend of powerful and emotive songs alongside heavy and free improvisation. In true DIY fashion, Dawid recorded and mixed the album using only her cell phone.

"Angel's fieldnote approach affirms that the everyday remains a legitimate site of creative production," says South Africa based percussionist, collaborator, and IARC labelmate Asher Gamedze in his liner notes for the album's IA11 Edition. Gamedze - the only other musician to appear on The Oracle besides Dawid, who constructed most of the album's tracks by layering, overdubbing, and arranging lo-fi symphonies of her own voice, wind instruments, percussions, and keyboards - waxes extensively about Dawid's significance in his notes, calling her "a living exemplar and extension of the spacious sonic horizons opened by the likes of the AACM and their refusal of any limitations on their creative vision and the destruction of the demarcation between composer and improviser."

Barcelona-based producer Ikari debuts on NIX with When It’s Over, a tightly constructed EP that brings together the weight of low-end pressure with crisp percussive detail. Built for the club but with a strong emotional pull, the release folds bass-rooted aesthetics into tightly wound techno frameworks, led by carefully sculpted sound design and a deep sense of mood.

Each track acts as a standalone world, but together they form a cohesive whole, driven by feeling rather than formula. There is a subtle melancholy running through the release, not overbearing, but present in the tonal shifts, textural tension and soft-release moments that flicker throughout. It is a record that sharpens Ikari’s already distinctive voice, pushing his technical process further without losing the raw edge that defines his work.

On When It’s Over EP, the focus isn’t on maximalism. Every choice feels deliberate: harmonic details, spatial effects, rhythmic structure. All of it is aimed at stirring something visceral in the listener. It is the sound of an artist locked into his own narrative, inviting us to step in.

Mitsubishi Fuso is the first single from Ikari’s debut EP for NIX, out on 4th of July. The full EP follows on the 18th of August as a limited stamped white label, mastered and cut by Tim Xavier at Manmade Mastering.

This time the vinyl features a contemporary remix from newcomer MIDGE who delivers a different take, alongside for the first time on vinyl, the Frits Wentink & Trevino remixes that were both originally released in 2013. Classically trained, with a background in jazz, soul and gospel, Laura Mvula emerged from Kings Heath, Birmingham in 2012 with her first EP, She. The following year her debut album, Sing To The Moon, dropped to enthusiastic reviews; earning two MOBO awards (plus nominations for both the Mercury Prize and two Brits) and going gold. Preceded by Laura’s most popular single, ‘Green Garden’, a hymn to her west midlands home, Sing To the Moon was described in The Guardian as ‘Gospeldelia’, a genre unto itself, which may have been a small exaggeration but speaks to the album’s ambition, inventive arrangements and striking originality.

‘(Listen for) The Rag and Bone Man’ - Reissued and available on vinyl for the first time, was the album that marked the renaissance of the band in 2007, bringing them out of the quietest and most hermetic period of their existence and setting them back on course to establishing themselves as the global, underground phenomenon that they are today.
This new, remastered, edition includes six previously unreleased pieces, written during the same period but not included on the original album.
A work that takes us on a dreamlike journey through dark landscapes coloured by a guitar that brings to mind the trademark sound of their formative years and populated by characters as diverse as the nursery rhyme like ‘A man with a drum’ to William Faulkners ‘Candace’.
The vinyl comes as a gatefold, double album. Also available on CD with booklet including lyrics and photographs. ‘And Also The Trees’ are currently writing their sixteenth studio album and will be performing live in numerous European venues throughout 2025.

We are excited to announce the return of the iconic Totally Wired series with a brand new collection on LP and CD. The first 50 orders will include a special art print of the artwork. We are also doing a limited edition T-shirt to celebrate this milestone!

In 1988 Acid Jazz released its first compilation album ‘Totally Wired: A Collection From Acid Jazz Records’. Compiled by Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson it collated 11 tracks that summed up the early days of our scene, mixing new label signings, cool new records being played in our clubs and a couple of oldies. It sold well to the then small scene and set the template for a series, that in the wake of the international success of The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, The James Taylor Quartet and others exploded. By the time that Volume 5 appeared, we were selling tens of thousands of copies, with major label artists vying for inclusion.

By that point ‘Totally Wired’ was a phenomenon, that sign-posted changes in both the directions of new music, but of the oldies that were played on the scene. It gave DJs new tunes to play and soundtracked 1000s of Cafés and bars the world over in the age of the CD. It was largely retired at the end of the 90s and as times changed.

Over the years we have been asked to return to the scene of the crime, but it has never quite felt right, until now. With vinyl back, and the need for easy to digest compilations becoming neccessary in the chaos of streaming’s ‘I can listen to anything I want, but can’t think what that might be’ is evident, but also we are feeling excited about where Acid Jazz is right now. New artists on the label are making great records, Matt Berry has a Top thirty album, and The Brand New Heavies are headlining the Royal Albert Hall. It’s easy to make an exciting album when that is happening.

So we are releasing “Totally Wired: A New Collection From Acid Jazz” and treating it like the important milestone that it is. From the Acid Jazz sid we have new and exclusive recordings by Matt Berry, Chris Bangs and new signings Earth-o-Naut and Quiet Fire, there is also a recent white label only 45 cut by the Soul Revivers – released ahead of their new album due this Autumn and featuring Kokoroko’s Shiela Maurice-Grey and Anoushka Nanguy. For the oldies we have dug deep into our own archives to bring you the Acid Jazz Orchestra’s version of Corduroy’s ‘Something In My Eye’ and The Brand New Heavies astounding funk take of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Rock Steady’. These are all joined by recent scene records by Carmy Love – one of the greatest voices in the UK – The Romero Brothers, and BDQ, carrying the series onwards at last.
