Jack Dice is a new project from John Twells and Walkmaster Flex, now releasing their debut EP for Modern Love.
John Twells, amongst very many other things, runs the Type label and has been producing music of various different disciplines and varieties over the last 15 years. Although he's never released anything on Modern Love before, he's a long time friend and associate of the label.
Walker is the manager of Main Attrakionz and has been DJing with them for the last couple of years as the official 'Green Ova DJ'.
'Jack DIce' is fuelled by an interest in bass, Twells being a car audio nerd and Walker having an obsession with 90s southern rap music. These are their first tracks produced together, who know what might follow...

Newly established music connection House is OK from Frankfurt and Zagreb is raising the roof with the upcoming We Make Music Vol. 1 release. Get into the party mode with Janis, Oliver Achatz, Homeboy and The Citizen's Band this December. We Make Music opens with JANIS 'Mind Made Up'; a reminder of the early Frankfurt House sound with a scent of the Soylent Green Remixes from the late 90ties. A distorted Techno siren that evolves over a tough and jacking 909 groove and finally leads into blissful deepness. Homeboy, who got some attention with his playful Hypercolour release, brings out the edgier and deeper sound in 'Sedam'; a track based on the elements of classic House, whilst breaking the borders through its arrangement and musical form. The jazzy synth riff that locks to a hypnotic 7/4 groove is what makes this track a quality gem. Previous support on Jimpsters Freerange podcast shall suffice as evidence. The flip-side starts with Oliver Achatz' track: 'It Won't Last'. Oli, being the sentimental one in this joint, proves that House music can work with a very sensual touch. The smooth and warm use of analogue synth lines combined with suggestive vocal samples, are played over a steadily drifting rhythm. This compound, of an almost meditative nature, will provide the perfect atmosphere for early morning club hours. The Citizen's Band, one half of Arto Mwambe, closes the compilation with a remix of Janis' 'Mind Made Up". TCB shows that a track doesn't need much to get the crowd jumping and the party working, by returning the tune to its basic elements and making it a club banger for the 'heads". We Make Music Vol. 1 is only the first out of the three upcoming releases set to shake your solid house ground.

New Leng signing Auf Togo are the combination of Clement Cachot-Coulom from the Fabulous Penetrators and Sasa Crnobrnja, one half of In Flagranti.
Their combined sound is one of vintage recording equipment and instruments coupled with tweaks and blends from the modern studio. This new 12 for Leng draws on all their knowledge of the past and of the current club scene, effortlessly gliding through deep, warm analogue sounds and tougher studio techniques. Both tracks have guitar work that reminisces of a late 60's West Coast scene laid over strong bass lines and beats giving the perfect mix of home listening fuzz and a late night dance floor.

Hello listeners, blunt heads, fly ladies and prisoners..... This is the future of the music industry. Not the music, just the idea of the artists writing their own PR faffle. Next year I'll probably have to carry my own bags on tour too.......tragic. I have had a few years of working on other projects and shuffling about in loose trousers, but now I feel the time has come to release some more music for feet and floors. What I should say is that every time I tried to write techno/house/moonbeat in the last couple of years, everything came out as shitty tech-house.....The brain was just in an alternate mode, a mode for classical music and melody, but now it seems to have come back to techno so I here present some of its recent outpourings. It belched out Polka the first night I got back to Scotland, having left London. BabaYaga is named after a sinister-as-hell witch from a Russian story book we had as kids (check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_Yaga) clearly designed to traumatise young minds. My traumatised mind made this tune, so it has come full circle. Mu is slower, for lazy, emotional dancers. Blank Code Records launches with its first release Circle 1 by label artist Mutate. Circle 1 is the first in a series of releases by Mutate and features remixes by Drumcell, Audio Injection, and Bas Mooy Detroit has always had a definitive voice in the future sound of techno, and this debut release from Blank Code is a prime example of both the latest from Detroit, and its international allegiances exemplified by three brilliant remixes from some of techno's most accomplished modern artists.

Emerson Todd is our prized import from New Zealand. Since settling in Berlin, he's become a valuable team member at the Upon You headquarters, improving our English by cracking jokes and also assisting in the studio with technical needs. The man with a plan! Back in NZ he produced some well-known bands, but his relocation to Berlin sparked his specialization in tech-house. The results of his work have been heard on several labels including Cocoon and Saved Records, but for his third EP he returns to Upon You, once again showing his keen interest in funky sample work, pulled from his dusty vinyl collection. A1 'Inside Out' and A2 'Streetwalker' exhale radio moments from the past, but bolstered by the contemporary construction of modern power tools. The B-side is a winning remix harvested from the Thuringian Forest with a pounding climax, custom built by Mr. Mathias Kaden.

For their first release of 2012 Modern Love deliver the second album from Suum Cuique, the analogue noise/experimental project from Miles Whittaker, one half of Demdike Stare.

We celebrate our number 30 with a double pack, featuring one of the creators of techno in Spain: Groof.

Roberto Gemelin, from Madrid, is Groof. He's Robert Calvin too. No matter which of his alias you know him by, he's one of the most active producers in the Madrid arena.

Aka Robert Calvin, he released materials with Turbo (Tiga's label) in 2004, having previously collaborated with Star Whores in a joint release with Alek Stark (2002).
Also important are the remixes he did for Disko B or for Sindicato Records and MSX, paying tribute to Megabeat with his recreation of the great classic Strange.

His background as Groof is even more extensive, as his early steps go back to the times of Minifunk (the cheeky and shameless label from Barcelona that was then managed by Omar and Dj Loe). With them he recorded Mambo! (1999) and I want you (2000). He has also recorded with WarmUp, Fieber, Rainwaves or Shareware Records.

At the end of the ninetees Groof shared Quite Unusual with Oscar Mulero: the start of a deep friendship that nowadays brings us WU30 mini-album.

'Angel exterminador' is on the A side; modern and dark techno, based on cemented beats and deep synth work. A track that is constantly growing and evolving; quality and punch in one track.

'Diagrama esporadico' goes next: relaxed BPM, 909 beats, spacey arpeggios, and analogue synth percussions for a mental feeling.

'Gummy' starts with weird flanged noises, fed with distorted drums and drones that create an elastic feeling, hence the gummy name. Scientific techno.

'Amb' goes back to darkness, subtle ambiences and drones, fixed sequences and a clever arrangement.

'Vac 04' continues on the same mood: obscure synths, classic drum machines, sharp hats and white noise.

Closing the release, 'Islands' is a liquid track based on lush keyboards, and a dubby feeling with those endless delays. A classy number.

A nice mini-album which is diverse, complex, classic and futuristic at the same time.

Like hardly any other ambassador of modern Rhein Main House music, Christian Burkhardt has experienced a true rocket-like takeoff in the last year. Burkhardt's Cocoon debut EP "Stopover Goa" has, after one year, still a place of honour in many DJ's record cases.
