LILDAVE215 is a proud Philly representative who channels funk, soul and acid jazz into his delicious take on disco. For this new outing on the young but already promising Sweet Breeze Sound label, he kicks off with 'Music Takes Me' which rides on slinky drums that slide irresistibly on nice dusty cymbals and has funky riffs down low. The vocals add simple but effective colour that adds to the feel-good nature. 'Carnaval Del Tiempo' is more Latin influenced, with prickly percussion and big vocals, even bigger drums and sax energy all added for when the sun shines down hot.

There was an immediate buzz surrounding This Is What I Know About Being Gigantic, the 2001 debut EP by Seattle indie phenomenon Minus the Bear. It wasn’t the kind of viral interest that translated into a string of sold-out tour dates, but it meant that the tuned-in crowd eagerly anticipated their next move. To help stir up the excitement for their first proper full-length, the band followed up Gigantic with a promo CD featuring two tracks from their upcoming album, a short instrumental interlude, an exclusive new song, and a demo version of another album track. Packaged in a cardboard slipcase, it was the kind of cheaply manufactured promotional item that could be handed out for free at shows or thrown in as a bonus in online orders—a relic of the final years of the CD age before the advent of the iPod and mp3. The sampler CD was christened Bands Like It When You Yell “YAR!” At Them in a nod to the upcoming album Highly Refined Pirates.

While these kinds of promotional items typically had an ephemeral existence, filed away in some neglected binder of CDs or tossed out during one of the many apartment-to-apartment moves of the band’s principal demographic of urban twentysomethings, Bands Like It When You Yell “YAR!” At Them had a curiously persistent presence. Perhaps it was because it was packaged more like a proper EP than a sampler. It certainly helped that it was a free release, meaning anyone who came to a show likely walked away from the evening with the cardboard slipcase tucked in their jacket pocket. It’s also noteworthy that the EP showcased three songs from the back half of Highly Refined Pirates rather than the album’s live staples and fan favorites from side A. Whatever the combination of factors at play, “YAR!” took on a life of its own and was ultimately re-packaged in a jewel case and sold as a proper EP in 2004 in the wake of Highly Refined Pirates’ success. And now in 2026, it’s getting its first proper release on vinyl.

Opening with the driving beat, chirping guitars, and funky low-end of “Spritz!!! Spritz!!!,” Bands Like It When You Yell “YAR!” At Them quickly cements Minus the Bear’s foundation of sophisticated revelry, a spirit further emphasized in the Highly Refined Pirates title choice. Part of the Bear’s lore involves them playing their first show three days after 9/11, and just as New York City’s indie rock scene took a sharp turn towards nightclub debauchery and a rejection of ‘90s rock’s dour fatalism in the wake of the World Trade Center tragedy, so did the Bear turn away from the Seattle’s scene’s penchant for gloom and angst towards a cerebral after-hours pop sound. The inclusion of “Women We Haven’t Met Yet” helped elevate what could have otherwise been seen as an album deep cut into a lead track. The fact that these first two songs essentially served as preview singles over future Pirates hits like “Monkey!!!Knife!!!Fight!!!” and “Absinthe Party At The Fly Honey Warehouse” speaks to the high quality of every song the band cranked out in their early years. The EP’s exclusive track “Drop It Like It’s Hot” presaged Snoop Dogg’s mega-hit single of the same name by two years, but whereas Snoop leaned into restrained minimalism, the Bear unleashes some of their fiercest work here, building off of interwoven riffs and electronic layers to a climax of stabbing guitars and hollered vocals. Much like Nirvana’s Hormoaning EP, Minus the Bear’s Bands Like It When You Yell “YAR!” At Them was initially more of a marketing gimmick than a proper release, but given the popularity of the pivotal studio albums that stemmed from the same recording sessions, these extended plays serve as compelling companion pieces that have earned a special spot in their respective fanbases’ hearts. Suicide Squeeze is proud to offer Bands Like It When You Yell “YAR!” At Them on vinyl on September 18, 2026, nearly 25 years after the band’s first show.

Musikalisch rollt der Titel schwer wie ein Panzer voran und bahnt sich mit triumphierend klingenden Dudelsäcken und prominenter Unterstützung von der Band Saltatio Mortis als Feature-Künstler seinen Weg in die Gehörgänge.
Die ausufernde Rockballade »The Good Goodbye« erzählt vom Schmerz der notwendig gewordenen Trennung, aber auch davon, dass es weitergeht, auch wenn es anders ist, als zuvor.
Im Arena-Rocker »I'll Be« wird ein Schwur geleistet, immer da zu sein, immer präsent zu sein. Der Titel ist wie gemacht für die ganz großen Bühnen.
Das zunächst düster daherkommende »Nothing Breaks Like A Heart« baut sich kontinuierlich auf, bis im Chorus die s.g. Hero-Kadenz ebendiesen zum perfekten Singalong-Refrain macht. Thematisch geht es um leere Versprechungen, die ein gebrochenes Herz nach sich ziehen.
Bei »The Night Is Calling« wird jedes Partyherz höher schlagen. Es ist die perfekte Rockhymne.

Auch optisch hat man bei diesem Langspieler Nägel mit Köpfen gemacht: Das Cover und seine Wirkung erschließen sich dem geneigten Betrachter unmittelbar. Zu sehen ist ein verführerisch roter Kussmund, der eine nicht weniger knallrote, Dynamitstange küsst. Es wurde der Bandname und somit auch gleichzeitig der Albumname bebildert! Das Cover wirkt dabei schon fast ikonisch. Man kann sich das Motiv jetzt schon auf T-Shirts, Taschen, Autos und co. vorstellen.

Zu den brandneuen 6 Songs gesellen sich weitere 7 Titel der ersten zwei Alben des Quintetts. Diese wurden neu aufgelegt und ins typische Kissin-Dynamite-Gewand gepackt. Hier wurde nicht gegeizt:
So bekam ein Song der ersten Stunde »Out In The Rain« prominente Unterstützung von der Band Amaranthe.
Für die geheime Schwabenhymne »Steel Of Swabia« wurde passenderweise Ralf Scheepers von Primal Fear verpflichtet. Außerdem wurde ein gigantisches Gitarrensolo von Dragonforce-Gitarrist Sam Totman beigesteuert.

Die deutsche Black-/Death-Metal-Kultband Ch’ahom opfert ihr zweites Album „Anthropic Rites of Sublimation“ auf dem Opferaltar – ein Konzeptalbum, das in einer fiktiven Welt spielt, die von den Ritualen, der Kunst und der Architektur vorspanischer Kulturen inspiriert ist. Anknüpfend an ihre EP „Ts’ono’ot“ entfaltet sich die Geschichte um eine Cenote von unvorstellbaren Ausmaßen, deren kosmischer Ruf die Verlorenen und Unsicheren zur Selbstaufopferung treibt. Vier Zivilisationen erheben sich an ihrem Rand, wobei jede ihre eigenen Riten, Hierarchien und Monumente entwickelt, um den tödlichen Ruf des Abgrunds in eine Grundlage für kollektives Dasein zu verwandeln.

A very classic, auditorily both honest and skillful, techno mini-album by US producers D-Knox and Tim Xavier of Black Nation, 773 Tekno, Limited 400serie, and Sonic Mind fame. The duo's six-tracker nods to old-school US 'multitrack' underground techno EPs, but is bombastically engineered for club systems. Stunningly starting with "Soul Kraft Intro", a hymn for the Detroit techno legacy, only to slip into the tracky club rider "Stream Of Consciousness" with short stabs and alarming strings. Ripping acidic riffs and multifaceted hi-hat programming are signatures throughout, particularly highlighted by the teeth-grinding Chicago-styled (almost 'French Touch' compressed) "Dead Star Grinder", and not the least by the ultimately classic "Tomorrow Is A Rainy Day" with its broken beat and deep-standing forward-driving chordal beauty.

Mit dem Re-Release von Solexs "Low Kick and Hard Bop" feiert Matador das 25-jährige Jubiläum . Das Album kehrt in einer neuen sowie erweiterten Fassung mit dem verschollenen geglaubten Titel "Mr. Crockpot" erstmals auf Vinyl zurück. Das 2001 veröffentlichte Album war das dritte Werk der in Amsterdam lebenden Songwriterin und ehemaligen Plattenladenbesitzerin Elisabeth Esselink. Hier kam ihr samplerbasierter, auf Found Sounds setzender retro-futuristischer Stil voll zur Geltung, mit Hooks, die aus verstaubten Schallplatten, Fernsehen, Radio und Straßenlärm stammten. Eine Generation später bleibt "Low Kick" ein überschwängliches Werk des retro-futuristischen Pop - vielschichtige Breaks, die sich mit bluesigen Riffs, Girl-Group-Grooves und surrealistischer Selbstsicherheit abwechseln. Damals bezeichnete The Wire es als "eine schwindelerregende Vielfalt an Elementen und Überschwang", und wir wagen es, euch zu widersprechen. "Elisabeth Esselink von Solex entführt euch in ihre dadaistische, aus Schnitten, Collagen und Faltungen bestehende Klang-Tanzparty", schreibt Matador-Gründer Chris Lombardi. "Sie rekonstruiert eine Million Klang- und Stilfragmente zu einem kaleidoskopischen musikalischen Meisterwerk." Da die CD das dominierende physische Format jener Ära war, kam Matador nie dazu, "Low Kick" auf Vinyl zu veröffentlichen. Dies ist eine Situation, die wir nun beheben wollen, da das Album auf sein drittes Jahrzehnt zusteuert: Am 11. September erscheint die allererste Vinyl-Pressung.

Opening the EP, E44Z is a driving techno cruncher, pairing serrated riffs with soaring synth lines and relentless momentum. X66Y follows with a growling, psy-infused workout, weaving sci-fi textures through its propulsive groove. On the flip, A44Z tunnels deeper, its hypnotic groove rising and falling through the journey. Closing the release, the title track Absorbe strips things back with spacious, eerie sound design, understated percussion and a deep, rolling bassline that lingers long after the final beat.

Morbific is a death‑metal trio from Kitee, Finland, formed in 2020 by brothers Onni and Olli together with Jusa. Canadian deep house don Nick Holder's Fruit Loops EP is next to get the remaster and reissue treatment from Definitive Recordings. This label, now overseen by Get Physical Music, first released the EP back in 1995 when Toronto-based Holder had already become one of house music's most tasteful operators. He went on to release over 125 EPs and singles under countless aliases, in various groups, and on his labels DNH Records and Treehouse Records, as well as !K7 Records and NRK. His style spans house, disco loops and minimal Chicago grooves and is always high on immersive atmosphere. Opener 'Dance Dance Dance' brings together all those aspects of the Holder sound with its funky guitar riffs looping beneath raw drums and disco basslines. Classic Chic samples burst out of the mix to bring an air of celebration and party, and it makes for an irresistibly feel-good sound. 'Keep on Running' is a steamy and sweaty house jam with loopy drums and bass and more smartly chosen samples, this time from Roy Ayers, that bring the funk and never let up. It has long been a go-to anthem for house DJs, and the realness and rawness of the emotions in Holder's work also shine through with the filtered synths and jazzy keys of 'The Message of Love', which is complete with bumpy and irresistible drums. Last of all is the unfettered party spirit and diva vocals of the brilliantly lo-fi funk-house pumper that is 'Clap Ya Hands'. Bristol's Ben Pest returns to Co-Accused Records with four drops of full-pelt electro and techno on Lacquer of Empathy EP. A respected live artist and producer known for his production nouse, he’s taken his sound to Co-Accused’s Glasgow parties, Tresor and Glastonbury and released across respected imprints that include Mechatronica, Cultivated Electronics, I Love Acid and more. This release is exactly what he’s become known for turning out: rave-touched and highly effective dancefloor material.

The EP opens with 'D-Transfer', a pacey piece of machine funk which leads into ‘Mam Assid’ which right off the bat is an intensive, driving acid techno number. Over on the B Side, ‘Shruthi EB’ is a twisted machine workout, building and rebuilding through distorted synths before locking into a relentless groove. After being self-released on digital format on his own label The Glutch now gets a vinyl pressing on this EP riffing off a mechanical melody over an air-tight beat. To close out the EP is a digital bonus track with a ‘Rolling Edit’ of Shruthi EB.

The initial image behind this album was “phantoms”- things that seem to exist, yet somehow don’t. Another thing that sets this album apart from our previous releases is that four of the five tracks feature vocals. The only instrumental is “Invocation and Ritual Dance of the Electric Nonsense.” We didn’t consciously plan it that way; it just happened naturally. After finishing last year’s tour, we didn’t have much time, but everyone’s ideas came together, and I think we’ve created an album we’re truly satisfied with.
Mandrake Oracle: The opening track of the album.Built around a single guitar riff by changchang, while the other instruments and electronics keep pushing the music forward. Personally, I imagined Deep Purple playing a Pink Floyd song while writing this one.
Minagoroshi Western: Imagined as the soundtrack to a fictional spaghetti western. In the end … everybody dies.
Daydream Rendezvous: A piece of daydream acid psychedelic folk.
Invocation and Ritual Dance of the Electric Nonsense: Hard psychedelic jazz rock. The title is a little nod to Frank Zappa.
Ai Vist Lo Lop (Cover): I’ve always loved Ai Vist Lo Lop by the wonderful Occitan traditional band Mont-Jòia, and I’d wanted to cover it someday. We especially enjoyed creating the a cappella section and finding the right sound for the main melody.

Brennan Wedl"s self-titled album is a testament to collaboration, with old selves, the selves yet-to-be and the friends helping you along the way. Wedl is already a prolific artist, releasing solo music since 2012, and co-founding the queercore outfit Dazey & The Scouts in 2015. On her debut album for ANTI-, she shakes off the prying eyes of expectation, leaving behind the anxiety of forming yourself for others and welcoming in the delight of finally being exactly who you are. Wedl enlisted Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) and Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hurray for the Riff Raff) to co-produce and play on the album, with instrumentalists Colin Croom, Lindsey Jordan and Matt McCaughan also sprinkled throughout.
