Donald Byrd, Dominoes. Taken from the 1975 album Places & Spaces, this sought after 45 is one of the defining tracks of the 1970’s jazz-funk sound. Capturing the style Byrd developed with the Mizell brothers, this song marks the transition to a smoother groove driven sound.

Seoul-based artist and producer Mang Esilo marks the beginning of Green Green Records with this release.

With their second album, Second Skin, Berlin-based artist Nene H deepens their commitment to radical honesty through sound. Where their debut was a tribute to their late father and a processing of personal grief, the second album turns inward toward identity, the fracturing and reassembling of the self that follows the dissolution of a long-term relationship. They carefully infuse shattered Southwest Asian motifs with their vocals. Vocals appear and disappear like traces of memory. The opening track, Where Was I, continues the story of their previous album Ali. From there, the question "where was I?" transforms into an existential inquiry. The starting point of both their personal journey and the journey of this album. After stepping through that door, the album unfolds into a deliberate balance: four deconstructed pieces and four more straightforward 4/4-driven tracks. The sibling tracks on A2-A3 and B3-B4 share the same DNA, though their destinies are not the same. Every element is placed with intention; every sound carries its own narrative thread. For the 27th instalment of Big Trouble Records, Cryme steps in with a hypnotic overload of house holiness. Thumping, breakbeat-influenced drum patterns attach to Detroit synths, stabs, and pads.

Ziegelstr. is home to the studio and former headquarters of Berlin-based label Seven, run by Cryme and ultimately the meeting point between Cryme and Big Trouble’s head honcho Andre Zimmer, culminating in Cryme’s release on the label. New York’s Ma Sha brings wigged-out rhythms to Nerve Collect with an explosive, future-facing new EP. The six tracks prove she is bound by no rules but knows exactly how to energise the club.

Ma Sha deals in sounds that operate outside the usual boundaries and demand full-bodied, physical reactions. She has become a driving force in the New York underground with Kindergarten, which is both a much-loved party and a much hyped label. ‘Salpa’ opens with a clipped rhythm drenched in neon and psychedelic swirls as oversized bass cocoons from below with glitchy vocal fragments and hard but bouncy techno momentum. ‘Gillz’ swallows you in waves of bass and rubber kicks while screwy synths spray across the mix while a syncopated broken beat brings irresistible funk to a post-human world. ‘Shots’, a collab track with Hodge, works in overdrive with rising tones and liquid metal textures that trap you in a hall of mirrors. Intense club pressure builds with pristine percussion and hyperreal vocals.

‘Spinmachine’ is a freaky sound world of fuzzy synths, cantering drums and static electricity that is full of threat and never lets go. ‘Total Energy’ locks into rolling drums and hyping swing with descending leads and a sense of future rave chaos designed for sheer dance floor release.

Freshly reissued now compiling some of its biggest remixes , original and the sought after accappella. Purple Disco Machine brings his signature disco-house sheen and radio-friendly polish to the original's DNA. Peggy Gou then flips it entirely on its head with her "Acid Journey" remix, injecting squelchy 303 acid lines and a more raw, hypnotic energy that nods to house music's warehouse roots. Kid Crème's Club Mix sits somewhere in between — a tool-friendly, dancefloor-focused reworking built for maximum impact in a DJ set. Rounding out the package are the Original mix, for those who want the source material in all its untouched glory, and an Accapella, giving DJs and producers the vocal stems to mash up, edit, or sample as they see fit.

For the decennial release on Punctuality Warsaw duo W.A.C., aka Private Press step up with their Forever W.A.C EP. Moving away from their more techno-oriented offerings, Forever W.A.C. keeps the tempo and energy of their earlier work but suffuses the mood with warm, glowing trance and prog energy. This is peak-time Punctuality business in its purest form– on time as ever. “No More No Show” comes in hot from the get-go: galloping snare rolls, raved-up breakbeats, uplifting pads, big basslines, acid licks, and the low-end wubs that have become synonymous with the Punctuality sound. One for that point in the night when the dancefloor has melted into sweaty, eyes-closed, hands-up amorphia.

Barely recognisable to its original counterpart, the Rhyw remix strips the A1 down to the bare essentials. Preserving only a few percussive elements, the euphoria of No More No Show is replaced with hazy, cinematic synth washes that drone around a skeletal groove loaded with bassweight, warping the original into a dubbed out psychedelic UK stepper. Shifting to the morning light, “Only Froggerz” is a shimmering roller that ebbs and flows around barreling kick drums, kaleidoscopic synth lines, and vaporous FX, with lustrous chord work driving the emotion dial to 11. Elegant and restrained but relentlessly pummeling, it’s early-morning club gear at its finest.

Rounding out the EP with an essential slice of modern prog, “Close” utilises all the good bits: skippy basslines, filtered squelches, tribal-leaning percussion, and a relentless groove that builds around the subtle interplay between the stabs and the vocals. An epic closer that feels as true to the Punctuality canon as ever.

Enamour returns to Crosstown Rebels with his latest EP ‘What U Said’, featuring SAM SHI. Featuring a remix from recent Crosstown signees Bonafique, the US producer continues his evolving relationship with the label following his 2025 contribution to SPIRITS VII and earlier remix work for bullet tooth.

LA-based DJ/producer Enamour has long operated outside of fi xed lanes and guidelines, shaping a sound defi ned by melodic depth and a psychedelic edge that translates across both club systems and through headphones. With regular support across his work from the likes of Solomun, CamelPhat, Hernán Cattáneo, Lee Burridge, and Damian Lazarus, alongside remixes for RÜFÜS DU SOL, RY X, and Lane 8, his catalogue reflects a balance of reach and individuality.

"What U Said" is about the moment language turns physical; when words create a chemical reaction you can’t take back” says Enamour. “It taps into the same quirky energy as my other records on the label, which I think heightens the feeling of surprise as the instrumental meanders underneath SAM SHI’s vocal It’s a track that pairs Enamour’s textured, immersive production with fellow LA-based artist SAM SHI’s vocal presence, shifting through atmospheres and rhythmic drive.

Making a return to the label, in-demand duo Bonafique step in on remix duties, reworking the original into a more hypnotic, groove-led interpretation built for deeper club moments. Closing track ‘Dip’ has already become a fixture in Enamour’s sets, operating as a trippy counterpoint to the vocal-led A-side and employing commanding drums, oscillating synths and a driving energy made to capture dancefloors. “‘Dip is a fan favourite and secret weapon that’s been a staple in mine and others’ sets for quite a while now,” he adds. “Balancing out the release with this one felt like the right time to finally get it out into the wild.”

K' Alexi Shelby is a prominent figure in electronic music with a career spanning decades. The cultivation of his massive music catalogue has overflowed into albums and the three labels he heads. It's also led to legendary collaborations with artists like The Pet Shop Boys, Robert Owens, Kenny Dixon, Roy Davis Jr., Joe Smooth, Steve Silke Hurley, Tyree Cooper, Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Larry Heard, DJ Pierre, Carl Craig, Felix da Housecat, Marshall Jefferson and more. He makes a welcome return to COD3 QR with the jazzy house of opening track, "House Music de Chicago".

Voltaire has built his career through passion and a perfectionist approach to music, creating a richly emotional eclecticism, with inspiration from the pioneers of Detroit to the glorious electro decades of the 2000s and 2010s. Today he's a COD3 QR regular and released his debut album, "Echoes" on the label last year. He leans into the realms of house with a deep techy edge, for new track "Some House".

Finder is the alias of Radial (Jeroen Liebregts), originally from The Netherlands but today residing in Spain. He started mixing records around '98 and in 2002 teamed up with Bas Mooy to started the now legendary label, Audio Assault. He's also released on Token, Perc Trax, Mote-Evolver, Numb, Drumcode, Planet Rhythm, Mord, Will & Ink and MDR, alongside his label, Radial Records. As Finder he goes in a new direction with "Team Dream".

Benny Rodrigues a.k.a. ROD's other moniker, The Lost Souldancer has already seen him drop "No More Voices" and "Life and Death" for the label. In his own words, Benny says: "The Lost Souldancer is about coping with the loss of what once was. Finding comfort in the invisible rather than what can be seen. Disconnect to connect in order to be loved rather than liked." He returns with another emotional journey on "Magnolia".

Producer and manager of Slates Records, Squal G is a French artist who has been passionate about electronic music since the '90s. Initially a DJ, he soon turned to machines and computers. This enabled him to progress with his production and remixes. He never tries to stick to a single style, which, depending on his inspiration, can lead him to be more or less hard, while remaining in the spirit of techno. A popular COD3 QR regular, he's back with the intense techno of "Crackle".

French producer, DJ and live artist, Electric Rescue is world renowned. His productions have been signed on labels like Cocoon, Virgo, Arts, F Communications, COD3 QR, Soma, Sci + Tec, Boys Noize and his own Skrypto¨m. Ahead of his forthcoming artist album (to be released on COD3 QR in October) he closes the vinyl with the electro-tech and wonderfully wonky machine funk of "Internet Was an Illusion".

Spirit of 76 Summer Campaign - Celebrating it's 50th anniversary, Steal Your Face is the Grateful Dead's 1976 double album chronicling a series of shows recorded at Winterland in San Francisco during October 1974. This reissue features audio remastered by David Glasser and is pressed on the official 'Grateful Red' and 'Stealie Blue' colors developed by Pantone LLC.

L'Oriole is the meeting point between violinist and composer Clara Lévy and sound artist Stéphane Clor. Combining violin, violoncello piccolo and a unique orchestra of resonators and transducers, the duo explores birdsong, resonance and the transformative power of sound. Acoustic instruments are projected into cymbals, drum skins, aluminium cans and other resonant objects, creating rich layers of colour, texture and spatial depth. Inspired by the work of Olivier Messiaen and his fascination with birds, L'Oriole unfolds as a journey through imagined birdsongs, suspended sonic landscapes and raw bursts of acoustic energy.

Der von der Kritik gefeierte Fotograf und in Paris lebende, aus Algerien stammende Künstler Mohamed Bourouissa hegt seit langem ein tiefes, alles umfassendes Interesse an Klängen. ,LILA" ist sein Solo-Debüt, ein selbst bezeichnetes ,musikalisches Objekt", das die wichtigen Beziehungen in seinem Leben auflistet; jeder der Tracks des Albums ist einer Person gewidmet (und nach ihr benannt), an die er dachte, als er das Album komponierte. Mit Gastauftritten von französisch-senegalesischen Künstlers Le Diouck und der italienischen Avantgarde-Künstlerin Valentina Fanigliulo (alias Mushy und Phantom Love) wirkt das Album wie ein Tagebuch hypnagogischer Reflexionen, das mit schwerelosen Synthesizern, herzzerreißendem Auto-Tune-Gesang und dissoziierten Beat-Sequenzen ein Bild von Bourouissas innerer Realität zeichnet. Emotional aufgeladen und verwurzelt in der Ästhetik, die Bourouissa mit seiner Verbundenheit zu Klang, Menschen und Kunst verbindet, ist es so komplex und vielschichtig wie jede seiner gefeierten Installationen oder Ausstellungen. Bourouissas erste erkennbare klangliche Referenz war ,Temps Morts" aus dem Jahr 2009, eine bewegende Videoarbeit, die er nach dem legendären Debütalbum des französischen Rappers Booba benannte, und seitdem ist er seiner Intuition gefolgt und hat nach und nach herausgefunden, wie er Klang nicht nur in seine Werke integrieren, sondern ihn in den Mittelpunkt stellen kann. 2017 arbeitete er gemeinsam mit dem libanesischen Free-Improv-Gitarristen Sharif Sehnaoui und Sina Araghi (alias Sina XX) an ,Si Di Kubi", einer Compilation, die experimentelle Klänge aus der arabischen Welt in den Vordergrund stellte, und sein Weg wurde klar. ,In diesem Moment wurde der Klang zu einem integralen Bestandteil meiner künstlerischen Praxis", erklärt er. Bourouissa arbeitete 2021 mit dem französischen Sounddesigner und Programmierer Jordan Quiqueret zusammen, um herauszufinden, wie sich die von der Akazie erzeugten Frequenzen in Rhythmen auf ,Brutal Family Roots` umsetzen lassen, wobei er Gedichte des Waddi-Waddi-Rappers MC Kronic und des ägyptisch-australischen MC Nardean integrierte. Später arbeitete er mit Fanigliulo an ,Haral!" - einem Duo-Projekt, das dem Künstler endlich das Selbstvertrauen gab, seine Fähigkeiten anzunehmen und seinen eigenen Produktionen Vorrang einzuräumen. Sogar seine jüngste Ausstellung ,SIGNAL" im Palais de Tokyo, Bourouissas erste Retrospektive, wurde ähnlich wie ein Album zusammengestellt, wobei der Künstler besonderen Wert auf die musikalische Logik ihrer Struktur und die ihr innewohnenden Rhythmen legte. ,Ich sehe Klang als Träger von Geschichte und Erinnerung, manchmal traumatisch", sagt er. ,Die Arbeit mit Frequenzen, Geräuschen und Atemzügen eröffnet einen Raum für Heilung, eine kathartische Möglichkeit. ,Und genau diese Philosophie leitet ,LILA`, von den hallenden Klavierakkorden und Chor-Echos von ,INTRO` bis hin zu den mikrotonalen Summtönen und verschleierten Rhythmen, die sich spiralförmig um das kurze, bewegende ,OUTRO` winden. Der rote Faden, der sich durch das Ganze zieht, ist die Tatsache, dass Bourouissa in der Lage ist, eher ein Gefühl als einen Klang darzustellen. Auf ,AF" schweben gespenstische FM-Arpeggios unheimlich um seine lässigen, herzlichen Worte, und auf dem beunruhigenden ,SEUM" kontern mehrschichtige Synth-Drones sein verzerrtes Crooning mit elektrisierenden xenharmonischen Akkorden. Instrumentale Dunstwolken schweben durch angespannte rhythmische Ausbrüche auf ,MN", und als Fanigliulo auf dem Titeltrack auftaucht, rückt das Album in den Fokus, während warme, hoffnungsvolle Pads einige von Bourouissas eindringlichster Texte. "What did you say, why should I cry", wiederholt er in die Leere hinein und presst die Worte durch metallische Verzerrung und ungleichmäßige Beats. For the better part of two decades, the acclaimed band Calexico has crossed musical barriers, embracing a multitude of styles, variety in instrumentation, and well-cultivated signature sounds. With their forthcoming record Edge of the Sun, out April 13th via City Slang, they take inspiration from a trip to a place surprisingly unexplored by the band before in Mexico City, and with the benefit of many friends and comrades to help guide the way.

Encouraged by the experience, the guest list grew to include Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses), Nick Urata (Devotchka), Carla Morrison, Gaby Moreno, Amparo Sanchez, multi-instrumentalists from the Greek band Takim, and Neko Case. Burns' brother John Burns lent a hand to some lyrics and songwriting, and the band's keyboardist, Sergio Mendoza, stepped up to co-write and arrange certain songs, ultimately co-producing the album along with Burns, John Convertino, and longtime associate Craig Schumacher.

On his new full-length album, d00mscrvll. Diplo continues his journey into the lawless, genre-blending land of phonk music, a genre that fuses Memphis rap, lo-fi hip hop and electronic dance influences into something dark, hypnotic and deeply rhythmic.

Discover gilt als Meilenstein, da es Gene Loves Jezebel erstmals einem internationalen Publikum bekannt machte. Musikalisch vereint es die düsteren Einflüsse der frühen Jahre mit einem klareren, melodischeren Sound und prägnanten Gitarrenstrukturen. Besonders der zentrale Track "Desire (Come and Get It)" steht exemplarisch für diese Weiterentwicklung und wurde zu einem der bekanntesten Songs der Band. Ergänzt wird die Jubiläumsausgabe durch zusätzliche Inhalte: Die Liveaufnahme Glad To Be Alive aus Nottingham (1986) erscheint erstmals seit ihrer Originalveröffentlichung wieder auf Vinyl und zeigt die Band in einer energiegeladenen, raueren Form als im Studio. Parallel dazu werden ausgewählte Liveaufnahmen, darunter "Desire - Live in Nottingham", digital bereitgestellt. Insgesamt positioniert sich die Neuveröffentlichung als umfassende Würdigung eines Albums, das den künstlerischen Höhepunkt und internationalen Durchbruch von Gene Loves Jezebel markiert.

Mit “Sangam & Friends“ ehrt der legendäre Saxophonist und Flötist seinen engen Freund und langjährigen
musikalischen Weggefährten Zakir Hussain. Das Album vereint bislang unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen des
Sangam-Trios – Charles Lloyd, Zakir Hussain und Eric Harland – mit einer hochkarätigen Besetzung indischer Musikerinnen und Musiker und dokumentiert eine außergewöhnliche künstlerische Begegnung, die
heute eine besondere Bedeutung erhält.
Im Zentrum des Albums stehen Studioaufnahmen, die 2009 in Mumbai entstanden. Anlass war Hussains
jährliches “Abbaji“-Konzert zu Ehren seines Vaters, des Tabla-Meisters Alla Rakha. Nach dem Konzert
begaben sich Lloyd, Hussain und Harland gemeinsam mit einigen der bedeutendsten Vertreter der indischen Klassik ins Nirvana Studio, um die musikalischen Impulse dieser Begegnung weiterzuführen. Mit dem
Carnatic-Sänger Vijay Prakash, Bansuri-Meister Rakesh Chaurasia, Sarangi-Spieler Sabir Khan, Keyboarder
Ranjit Barot und Sitar-Virtuose Niladri Kumar entstand ein faszinierender Dialog zwischen Jazz und den
reichen Traditionen des indischen Subkontinents.
Nach dem Tod Zakir Hussains im Dezember 2024 erhalten die Aufnahmen eine zusätzliche emotionale
Dimension: Sie bewahren nicht nur den Moment einer außergewöhnlichen musikalischen Zusammenarbeit,

“The Artistry of Freddie Hubbard” war das erste von zwei Alben, die der Trompeter unter der Ägide
von Bob Thiele für Impulse! Records aufnahm. Das im Juni 1962 entstandene Hard-Bop-Album fing Hubbard in einer entscheidenden frühen Phase seiner Karriere ein und rückt seine technische Brillanz, seinen
warmen Ton und sein rhythmisches Gespür in den Fokus. Zur Seite stand ihm dabei ein ausgesprochen
bewegliches Sextett, dem unter anderem der großartige Posaunist Curtis Fuller angehörte, der damals auch
mit Hubbard in Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers zusammenspielte. “Das sind einige wirklich vielversprechende
junge Talente, die ein klassisches Format neu beleben”, kann man in der AllMusic-Rezension des Albums
lesen, das dort vier von fünf Sternen erhielt. “Hubbards Soli zeigen, warum er der meistdiskutierte junge
Trompeter jener Zeit war.”

Die fünfköpfige Band 1000 Rabbits (ehemals hießen sie Rabbitfoot) veröffentlicht mit "Are we friends yet?" ihre Debüt-EP - ein sechs Tracks umfassendes Werk, das die ersten zwei Jahre ihres Bestehens festhält. Die EP enthält unter anderem die Singles "Virgin Soil" und "Rubik"s Cube" und erscheint digital sowie als limitierte 12"-Vinyl über das Label Young. Sie versteht sich als Momentaufnahme einer Band, die sich noch im Prozess der Selbstfindung befindet und ihre Identität in Echtzeit formt. Die Songs entstanden über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren hinweg - in Wohnzimmern, Proberäumen und auf Bühnen - und spiegeln ein prägendes Kapitel der Band wider. Einige Stücke reichen bis in ihre Anfangszeit zurück, andere sind erst kürzlich entstanden. Gemeinsam ergeben sie jedoch ein stimmiges Gesamtbild und bieten einen lebendigen Einstieg in die Klangwelt von 1000 Rabbits. Besonders prägend war dabei die Live-Erfahrung: Jeder Song entwickelte sich durch Auftritte weiter und wurde Abend für Abend neu geformt. Der Titel "Are we friends yet?" geht auf einen wiederkehrenden Moment in ihren Konzerten zurück. Während des letzten Songs "Spring Cleaning" stellt Sänger River diese Frage ans Publikum - ein Augenblick, der Nähe, Offenheit und Verletzlichkeit vereint und den Kern der Band widerspiegelt. John Hassall (The Libertines) & The April Rainers release their long overdue second, self- titled album. It's is the followup to 2017's Wheels to Idyll, which picked up critical applause on its release. The new album was largely recorded at John's home studio in Aarhus, Denmark where he has been living since 2009. And was produced by the band, with string player Clementine Brown having a big influence on the sound. John Hassall "These 10 songs are the ones that survived, grew and took on a life of their own. There's no way of telling if a song will make it until the end. That Pale Lantern in my opinion, started off as a rank outsider and then turned into one of the strongest songs on the album. Lessons were learnt from Wheels to Idyll and a new musical development runs through it. Whereas the last album was recorded pretty much live. The new album maintains similar classic songwriting and pop sensibilities, though with more complex arrangements and production." Most of the songs were cowritten by John and longtime poet collaborator Steev Burgess exploring memories of school days, journeys and adventures, fading dreams, ancient empires and even somebody's trinket collection. Burgess who has known Hassall for many years, wrote the lyrics to lead single Miracles, a sort of Ballad of John and Line. Libertines band mate Peter Doherty is also involved with a co-writing credit on Doing Time. John Hassall and The April Rainers will be announcing UK shows shortly, in the meantime John will be appearing with his other band The Libertines at summer festivals across Europe and the UK.

THE HOBKNOBS - ein Projekt der Stimmen von LEWSBERG & THE KLITTENS - werden im Juli 2026 ihr erstes Album auf ihrem eigenen Label THK Records veröffentlichen! "Helmets Off" lässt sich als ein ehrlicher Versuch beschreiben, ehrlich zu sein. Obwohl im Moment der Entstehung alle Optionen offenstehen, bleibt das Endergebnis oft reduziert und schnörkellos. Instrumente setzen genau dann ein, wenn sie gebraucht werden - doch die Songs selbst scheinen gar nicht viel zu benötigen. Jedes Wort und jeder Gitarrenanschlag wirken so, als wären sie exakt im richtigen Moment platziert. Vielleicht ist es gerade diese Schlichtheit der Songs, die das Gefühl vermittelt, als würden The Hobknobs direkt zum Hörer sprechen. Es ist offensichtlich, dass sie nichts zulassen wollen, was diese menschliche Interaktion trüben könnte - eine Interaktion, die zudem eine gewisse Verspieltheit ausstrahlt. Yaël Dekker - dem einen oder anderen bekannt als Sängerin von The Klittens - und Arie van Vliet, der seine Botschaften einst mit der Band Lewsberg verbreitete, wurden einmal als "liebevolle Misanthropen" bezeichnet. Beim Hören des Albums erscheint diese Beschreibung durchaus treffend. Ein tröstlicher Song wie ,The Mind" wirkt eindringlich. In "Dictionary" scheinen selbst Worte ihre Bedeutung verloren zu haben. Lieder, die zunächst fröhlich und naiv wirken, entpuppen sich beim zweiten Hinhören als eindringliche Appelle. Und ist "Enarmoured" etwa ein Protestsong, der den Krieg befürwortet? Welchen Krieg wollen sie eigentlich führen? Die Stimmen von Dekker und Van Vliet scheinen bestens miteinander zu harmonieren; dieses Zusammenspiel hebt die Songs auf "Helmets Off" über ihre trügerische Einfachheit hinaus. In Kombination mit der minimalistischen Produktion von Jaap van der Velde trifft das Album genau den richtigen Punkt zwischen "sofort vertraut" und "einzigartig - niemand sonst klingt so wie sie". Karina Gill von der in San Francisco ansässigen Band Cindy schrieb über The Hobknobs: "Um die Musik von The Hobknobs zu beschreiben, ist das Wort "natürlich" treffend. Gemeint ist damit: Sie ruht in sich selbst; sie ist im Grunde - wenn auch auf höfliche Weise - daran desinteressiert, ob man ihr gerade zuhört oder nicht. Man mag an frühen Rock 'n' Roll denken - und dabei an dessen energiegeladene Lässigkeit und ehrliche Reduktion, frei von jeglicher Sentimentalität. Musikalisch und textlich greifen die Elemente der Songs perfekt ineinander; sie offenbaren ihren Fluss, ohne jedoch dazu zu verleiten, sie in ihre Einzelteile zerlegen zu wollen. Das Duo Yaël Dekker und Arie van Vliet schätzt die Musik des jeweils anderen schon lange, doch ihre Zusammenarbeit hier ist kein geschlossener Dialog - sie ist zugleich umgangssprachlich und intellektuell anspruchsvoll, und wir sind eingeladen, daran teilzuhaben, sofern wir mithalten können. Gulp Joachim Nordwall’s queasiest, most curdled synth tones on this supremely detuned co-op with Athens’ Stellage crew = 45 minutes of pure nasal-drip tang and gungy pulses tipped FFO Connor Camburn, Wolf Eyes, Conrad Schnitzler, Ilpo Väisänen’s Liima alltimers.

Joachim Nordwall’s 1st solo jaunt since capping the ‘Healing Music’ series in ’23 finds the DIY linchpin and serial collaborator coaxing potently psychoactive tones from an undisclosed set up. It appears to be one of his most intently focussed jags in recent memory, concentrated on juicing a paucity of ingredients for optimal flavour. Nothing that new then? Well, aye, but when he really gets into it, with an effect that really probes parts of the psyche untouched by anything we’ve heard from him before, he produces synaesthetic sounds that frankly makes our ears salivate.

A starting exercise in plucky pulse-work recalling Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe initiates a real descent into the nether regions of Nordwall’s imagination, pulling into sepulchral drone on ‘Trance Recording’ and Droog wet dream material on ‘Abandoned Test Site’, while allowing for some levity in the lacquer-crackling pulse poem ‘Expand Your Mind’. However, he soon pitches back into resonant, metallic sonorities with durational conviction on a ‘Some Skies Overlap’ bringing to mind Connor Camburn works, but with an icier edge, and his title track spews molten drums in a rumbling, spark-spitting torrent.

This live recording was broadcast on French Radio, December 19th, 1984 and features their duet performances of John Coltrane "Naima", Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze", Ornette Coleman "Broadway Blues" amongst others. Student bassists Michel Hatzigeorgiou, Reno Steba, Alan Brennan, and Angel Vicens joined the duo at various times during the performance.
