Mit weltweit über 3Mio. verkauften Einheiten & 10 Studioalben hat die schwedische Modern Metal Band In Flames ihr Genre nicht nur neu definiert, sondern sich auch weit über dessen Grenzen hinaus etabliert. Nach der Gründung durch Jesper Strömblad 1990 gelang ihnen mit ihrer 2. LP "The Jester Race" der Durchbruch und gleichzeitig ein gefeierter Genre-Klassiker.
Nach ihrem mit Gold ausgezeichneten letzten Studioalbum "Sounds of a Playground" kündigt die Band jetzt ihr neues Album "Siren Charms" an. Dieses dokumentiert ganz genau, wo In Flames 2014 stehen.
Die LP wurde in den legendären Berliner Hansa Studios eingespielt und bietet neben der ersten Auskopplung "Rusted Nail" 10 weitere Tracks, die sowohl alteingesessene Fans begeistern werden ("In Plain View") als auch Crossover-Potential haben ("Through Oblivion").
"Siren Charms" sichert In Flames die Stellung als Metal-Band, die niemals still steht, und es ist zweifellos eine Band, die immer wieder Risiken eingeht, Grenzen überschreitet und sich selbst ebenso herausfordert wie ihre Zuhörer. Dass die Hindernisse die Band nicht umgebracht haben, ist offensichtlich - aber die Frage ist, ob In Flames jemals so stark gewesen sind

Ovum's 20th birthday celebrations continues with the return of Itamar Sagi. Itamar Sagi debuted on Ovum in 2009 with the amazing Fiona/Agnes Blue. After a five year hiatus from the label, he triumphantly returns with the Invisible Key EP. Raised in the hot spot of Tel Aviv, with his artist roots deep in the techno underground. Itamar is from the new breed of the current techno wave. Already well respected, Sagi's reputation continues to grow with his unique floor filling productions. His productions have caught the attention of legends such as Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Carl Craig, Francois K and others. It wasn't long before he found recognition on a worldwide scale, including reviews and interviews with many of the world's most popular dance magazines and radio stations. With releases on Ovum, Be As One, Soma, Drumcode and more, Sagi has shown that he is here to stay. The Invisible Key EP kicks off with the title track 'Invisible Key", which is classic Sagi. The track slowly brings you in with it twists and turns. The track bubbles and builds and creates a tension that will keep the dance floor wanting more and more. The second track from this EP 'New Order' harkens back to the sound of Basic Channel, G-Man, and John Ciaffone. Sagi once again builds the tension with vocal samples and effects that deliver an absolute massive punch without being over done. For the final track 'Dub Superstitions", Sagi brings us a proper techno workout. The track percolates and builds and once again Sagi's amazing use of tension deliver a proper massive finish to this stellar EP.

With a stellar year in the life of La Fleur coming to an end, the Berlin-based artist is set to close 2013 on a high, with the return to her own beloved imprint Power Plant. After landing a coveted residency with acclaimed Berlin club Watergate, and producing a chart-topping EP as her debut for the club's inhouse label, the Feline EP brings La Fleur back to her roots: unique house music that leaves an imprint on you long after you hear it. A-side track 'Kattflickan' establishes the theme, drawing on the Swedish term for 'cat girl' as its inspiration. It cuts a sleek figure, and is a slower, groovier, quirkier iteration of La Fleur's signature house sound. 'Kattflickan' revealing more detail with every change, and providing a colorful journey through the spectrum of La Fleur's sound. On the B-side, the chiming bell melody of 'Feline' carries it from the outset, and is the genesis of its mysterious and ethereal mood. Punchy drums and layered, meshed chords and its hazy chorus of rising vocal harmonies make it fit for any set. FREILAND war aber vor allem das 1998 gestartete, auf 6 Maxis
begrenzte Nachfolgeprojekt der legendären Studio 1 Reihe.
Keine Hihats, keine Snares, keine Samples. Weniger ist Mehr.
Mit seiner konsequenten Konzeption, mit jeweils nur einem
einzigen synthetischen Sound, der in stoisch-minimaler
Rhythmik lediglich um eine Bassdrum kreist, war und ist
FREILAND, neben Sog, Wolfgang Voigts wichtigstes Projekt
dieser Art. Im Sinne der ' Kunst des Weglassens " stellt das
Stück FREILAND - ROT 2, gewissermassen den Inbegriff
dieses Konzeptes dar. So bildet auch 'ROT 2' den Auftakt der
Remixreihe 'FREILAND - FREIE SICHT'. Wie eine rostige
Stahlskulptur à la Richard Serra steht auch heute noch das
Original auf freiem Feld und trotzt Wind und Wetter. Für seinen
Z.O.M. Mix hat Wolfgang Voigt das Ding rein ins Haus geholt
und in einen fast discohaft, warmen Groovemantel gehüllt. So
verpackt geht's dann durch silbern glitzernden
Lamettamaschinenregen aus dem Arpeggiator. Ein kleiner
Vorgeschmack auf das im September erscheinende Album
'Zukunft Ohne Menschen'.
'ROT 3' , die Mutter aller Schaffelbomben, kommt im Gaffelmix.
Heißt: Gabber trifft Schaffel. Kompakt Extra / Speicher, die
Heimat des Edelschweinerock lässt grüßen. Gewissermaßen
als Ehrengast gibt sich auf B1 der Maler Albert Oehlen unter
seinem Musik -Alter Ego Wendy Gondeln die Ehre. Ganz der
expressiven Radikalität seiner Malerei entsprechend,
bearbeitet er das bisher als Originalversion unveröffentlichte
'ROT 4'. Vermittels aggressiv, abstraktem Geigeneinsatz in
Echtzeit bringt er die stabile Statik des Beats an seine Grenzen.
Ein kurzes aber intensives Intermezzo und ein Annäherung an
Techno, wie man sie so nur sehr selten gehört hat. Für smart-
souveräne Abrundung in Richtung Dancefloor sorgt Michael
Mayer im besten kompakt'schen Sinne. Er verdichtet die
Zutaten des subtil groovenden Schaffeltracks 'GELB 3' zu
einem zischelnden Geäst aus verwischten Drumsounds.
Musikalisches Eigenblutdoping mit knappen Breaks und
sparsam gesetzten düster-housigen Akkorden.

Hypnotischer Tiefgang kann auch hell und freundlich sein, wie Marcus Sur einmal mehr unter Beweis stellt. Die melodiöse Eingängigkeit seiner Produktionen schwingt irgendwo zwischen Deep House und Dub Techno, wobei er das Beste aus beiden Welten mit organischer Eleganz verwebt und mit seiner ganz eigenen Note versieht.
Da ist das stimulierende Pochen und entrückte Klingeln von The World In Small Doses. Da ist die hintergründige Dramatik und perfide Vielschichtigkeit von Masquerade. Da ist die verträumte Stimme von Ann Jasmund, die sich über den warmen Wogen eines wabernderen Klangteppichs ausbreitet. Und da ist der verspielte Basslauf von Magnetic Ribbons, dessen schwerelose Synthesizer- und Piano-Zitate Mollono.Bass zwischen die perkussiven Rhythmen seines wundersamen Frequenz-Universums entführt. Das dubbig glitzernde Original gibt es als Zugabe für die Digital-Version. Leicht verdaulich und doch sehr gehaltvoll - wie gute Musik für den Sommer sein sollte!

It's been a terrific year for KOMPAKT boss MICHAEL MAYER, who released his sophomore album 'MANTASY' (KOMCD100/KOM250) - the eagerly awaited follow-up to his seminal album debut 'TOUCH' (KOMCD36/KOM107). 2013 is shaping up to be equally busy, with an ongoing worldwide DJ tour, the label's 20th birthday and now the first EP of 'MANTASY' remixes. 'MANTASY REMIXE 1' is the first entry in a series of three, featuring a stellar cast sure to push any dance floor over the edge.


Up and coming producer and core family member of the Cómeme family - PHILIPP GORBACHEV is no stranger to Kompakt, and he delivers a slashing rework of adrenaline-fuelled synth fest 'VOIGT KAMPFF TEST'. This Berlin based Russian has had a tremendous career launch thanks to his excellent solo debut 'IN THE DELTA' (CÓMEME 012) and as a partner in crime releasing singles as a member of ISAAC JOHAN and THE DISTRICT UNION. Pulling out all the stops for this remix, 2013 promises to push him as a major club force to be reckoned with.

Another star in the making, Cologne's BARNT had an equally strong run in the last months with in-demand releases on Magazine, Cómeme and Mule Musiq: his track GEFFEN (from - The Power Of Now', CÓMEME 013) is easily one of the most recognized club singles of this year. He also tackles 'VOIGT KAMPFF TEST', dialing things back a bit, but only to reinforce the air of sheer magnitude that oozes from every single note. Delving deeper into his trademark Kraut Techno approach, Barnt replaces the original's thrills with creeping tension and reaches a new understanding of what the prime time should sound like.

THE MOLE is well-known for his heavily sampled, organic loopiness having a special place reserved in nearly every DJ's record crate, but this beat-driven. remix of Mayer's beatless masterpiece 'BAUMHAUS' sees the producer refining his approach, as he takes the original's evocative expertise to new heights of grooviness. It's not just a case of 'let's put a beat in there and we're done', but a fundamental rework eliciting hidden properties and finding a new perspective on an already perfect slice of music. A personal favorite of many Kompakt aficionados, 'Baumhaus' finally gets the club treatment it so clearly deserves.

The long awaited debut 12" "Step In" by Roland Schwarz aka Raul Irie, co-founder of Etage Noir Recordings, has finally arrived! After delivering a fantastic remix of Parov Stelar's "Super 8" on the already legendary "Kiss Kiss" EP in 2004, Roland Schwarz' very own first relaese is due.

We have a release by another amazing up-and-coming talent from Australia: NATHAN G! Nathan had a fantastic 2010, with huge releases for Miguel Migs' Salted imprint (88 Keys to Love) and for Large Music (No Limit, Inner Spirit). Here, Nathan delivers two stellar deep house cuts: Blur The Line and Diamonds In The Sky.

Best known for their ska, grime and indie blend, Man Like Me's brazen lyrics are less self-conscious than their musical counterparts and revel in the realities, perks and calamities of being a young Londoner. They reflect the melting pot that is the London scene, combining genres and entering into creative collaborations, cementing their reputations as one of the most exciting bands in the UK. The tracks on this EP have been produced by Clanger and Charlie Andrews (Madness, Micachu), and Charlie Hugall (Florence and the Machine, Crystal Fighters). The EP includes stellar remixes by rising French stars DeBRUIT and QOSO.

German duo Misc. (Sender Records,Klang,Kompakt) join the Hidden Agenda label for a stellar release.
