The new Pudel Produkte release has arrived!

This time, it’s more like a record for yellow press readers – due to the high celebrity density on the two tracks! First, there’s Richard Fearless. The guy has been on the “Mission Impossible” soundtrack and he was famous in New York and London as DEATH IN VEGAS. He composed the music on this record and recorded it together with the slackers of Circuit Diagram, which is why the project was aptly named DEATH CIRCUIT. That’s logical, that’s correct, excellent!

One track of theirs is called “Strom Dub”, and the full length of it has been pressed onto the A-Side of the record. It sounds like Synthesizer music usually sounds: Sexy and warm and cold. The tears of technology dripping onto your head for eight and a half minutes while the spirit of the 80s sneaks in through the back door.

Like the B-Side, this track is a grower, a slow creeper you’ll want to hear again and again. Ac-cording to science, this is just what the people need in these days of unhealthy acceleration. And yes, the B-Side: There’s the track “Teeparty am Waldbrand” which translates to “Tea Party at the Forest Fire”, and it features the fat-mouthed DAS BO and RALF KÖSTER. Trust us, it’s just as hard for native speakers to decipher what they’re saying, but we were assured there’s even a “political dimension” to the track, so I guess we’ll have to listen again. Soundwise it’s a beautifully clut-tered mess, a cold wave sprinkled with bizarre brittle that lures you out into nature.

Ah yes, Pudel Produkte – it’s still minority music from the planet of the apes for people that know where to go, and that is elsewhere than the others.

Auch das neue Album wurde von Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Tame Impala) koproduziert und gemixt und setzt die Reise der Lovely Eggs durch Eggland ins Unbekannte fort. Sie sind zweifellos die echteste Band Großbritanniens, die in einer Welt agiert, in der wahre Authentizität schwer zu finden ist. "I Am Moron" wurde von der Band selbst in Lancaster ("The Twin Peaks of Northern England") in den Räumen der Lancaster Musicians Co-op aufgenommen. Die Heavyness von "This Is Eggland" wird auf "I Am Moron" fortgesetzt. Das Album bringt mehr Tiefe in ihren Sound durch eine Mischung aus heftigem Psych-Pop und einer Prise Seltsamkeit.

Biography:

Davide Luciani is an Italian electronic music composer and media designer, based in Berlin since 2011. He has a background in the Italian noise-rock scene with projects dating back to 2005. "Calming Counts" is Luciani's first solo release.

His solo practice places acoustic instrumentation into analogue/digital synthesis to create works that bridge the territories of noise, drone rock and minimal music. His approach to electroacoustic music – which he voices with guitar, piano, strings, accordion, synthesisers, VST sorcery and loopers – has a distinct harmonic hue, with layered repetitive patterns and instrumental polyphonies.

As sound and visual designer he has directed and curated a wide variety of projects from soundtracks to space design. His collaborations have been hosted at highly regarded institutions and venues such as Venice Biennial, Berlin Atonal, Ström Festival, Bayreuth Festspiele, Museum Omero, Tresor and MUSMA.

Luciani was a member of the label/platform Dromoscope and has collaborated as visual artist with Grün (Daniele de Santis) and Claudio Rocchetti. In 2014, together with sound artist Fabio Perletta, he co-founded Mote, a multidisciplinary design studio whose practice addresses arts and music.

They say the PR era, circa late 80's killed the golden age of music journalism:
They say Guttersnipe have continuously melted all the forms that they come up against. They are right.  Because Guttersnipe is not part of a tradition we know well. You will identify the departure from it though, immediately, upon hearing My Mother The Vent. This LP, the promotional version of which, likely sits in your hands (disk, whatever). The innovation here is a FIRM commitment to the flowmotive polyrhythm underwriting the seared, nay fried, tonal rainbow and de-reasoned vox.

Not Nate Nelson, nor John the masseuse dude from Sightings but TIPULA CONFUSA.  Don't want to put the captain obvious pants on so tight I can't jump around the yard because why waste a good yard hang. I'll put on my blighty nighty instead. UROCERAS GIGAS has bridged so many gaps, finally unlocked the AxeWeld CODE and is really playing the thing. Not to mention bringing forth a world-view so utterly unique.  Good luck finding anything like it.

Finally some REAL disjunction in the music; clear and intended. In an age when most computer music composers use stochastic systems and still manage to drop some linear pathground shit, the brawler drums and slanky guitar constructions on My Mother The Vent are a genuine treat.  I've spent too much of my adult life so far hearing too much of this shit to not recognize REAL GAME. And here it crawls out of the grey shadows of ol' BLIGHTY.

Our post-music age: after the fine human endeavour known as music, the result of letting the cybernetic run ITS horrible game on us. I'm not waxing confusingly in a rarefied tone here. Nor running the boring sci-fi script. I really think that is were we is.  We left the human-music-on-a-human-scale behind and much to our detriment. Here we sit in our crumbling reality. But Guttersnipe come paleo, like the rhapsodes with long ass memories rattling off Homeric verse well into the age of manuscript culture, but here, with future tones.  Luckily. Otherwise, me and the record label here wouldn't be wasting our time and yours with a 1 sheet for My Mother The Vent.

So a proper first time on wax for these amazing creatures is a welcome addition to the world of things.  These drums and these guit-lines are so cranké, as they say here in my odd neighborhood.  These voices are so utterly expressive without even the damn language at hand ; like the great horns. Seit über einer Dekade gehört James Connolly als Produzent (L-Vis 1990, Dance System) und Betreiber des Hip-Labels Night Slugs zur progressiven Speerspitze der Clubmusik. Nach Releases auf Clone und Jimmy Edgars Ultramajic-Label (und einer fünfjährigen Auszeit dazwischen), meldet sich Connolly nun auf Modeselektors Monkeytown Records zurück. Seine Dance System "Wind 'Em Up" EP bietet in der ernsten Techno-Welt von heute und entgegen aktueller politischer Strömungen genau die Sorte verspielter Frischluft, die wir alle brauchen.

Emotional Rescue and Mountains In The Sea are thrilled to team up to revive a lost rarity of American ambient music: Chris Spheeris and Paul Voudouris' 1982 album 'Passage'.

Living and recording in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chris and Paul composed and released several albums of folk-rock and album-oriented synthpop before their attentions turned towards sound healing music in the early 1980s. The duo was approached by a company doing biofeedback therapy and asked to create an aural component for patients looking to regain control of nervous disorders. After extensive preparations and just one day of studio time, 'Passage' was the result, recorded live with no additional overdubs.

The LP consists of 3 long tracks which flow together as a single piece. Opener 'Prism' contains the album's most frenetic moments, glittering guitar and synth tones designed to draw the listener out of their distressed state. Next comes the soaring 'Mosaic', a renewing sunrise of warm chords that beckons slowly towards the album's summit, the over-20 minute title track which contains a sonic ecosystem of it's own. The album concludes in a state of pure serenity, in which the passage of time has seemed to slow to a halt, and the outside stresses of the world eradicated.

Over 3 decades since its initial conception, 'Passage' still retains all of its inestimable healing power, but remains incredibly difficult to find. It's an album that belongs in discussions of landmark early American ambient works, alongside names like Michael Stearns, Constance Demby, Kerry Leimer and Pauline Anna Strom. ER and MITS have worked with original cover artist Vinayak to render the album artwork as originally intended, in even greater detail than on its first release. '1929 - Das Jahr Babylon" marks Thomas Fehlmann's third full length release of 2018 and presents what appears to be a creative peak in his career that spans beyond his solo career to his early days in Palais Schaumburg, collaborating with Moritz von Oswald as 3MB to his long time work with The Orb. Having left The Orb in late 2017 has set free unforeseen energies in Fehlmann's studio.

A departure from his recent dance floor-friendly album "Los Lagos" (KOM388, KOMCD148) released in September on Kompakt, Thomas Fehlmann's '1929 - Das Jahr Babylon" is a film soundtrack from the documentary that aired on ARD network on September 30, 2018 and is now available as a podcast series.

To compliment the internationally lauded TV series "Berlin Babylon", German director Volker Heise has created a documentary about 1929, the fateful year during Germany's "Weimarer Republik" in which "Berlin Babylon" is settled. Heise's stirring documentary portrays Germany's sizzling capital that is faced with radical changes by the dark forces whom are about to toss the world into the abyss we know as World War II.

This marks the second time that Fehlmann is partnering up with Volker Heise after 2010's marathon documentary "24 Stunden Berlin" which was released as "Gute Luft" (KOM211, KOMCD81) in the same year. Fehlmann's composition for "1929" consists of sample material taken from the era and thwarts the exaggerated lust for life with threatening undertones that anticipate the dawn of mankind's darkest chapter so far. Although all the sounds breathe yesterday's atmosphere this soundtrack bursts with modernity. Fehlmann accomplished the daring feat to musically render the unsettling resemblance between the political situation 90 years ago and our current time.

We at KOMPAKT feel that Fehlmann's score has turned out spectacular enough to give it proper release on limited vinyl and CD as well as on all digital platforms.

Anders als auf dem cluborientierten "Los Lagos" tritt Thomas Fehlmann auf "1929" musikalisch einen Schritt zur Seite. Und das aus gutem Grund: Analog zur international gefeierten Fernsehserie "Babylon Berlin" entstand unter der Regie von Volker Heise der Dokumentarfilm "1929 - Das Jahr Babylon" - ein ergreifendes Sittengemäde Berlins während des Schicksalsjahrs der Weimarer Republik. Wie schon zu Volker Heises vorangegangener Berlin-Doku "24 Stunden Berlin" (2010 erschienen als das Album "Gute Luft" auf KOMPAKT) hat Thomas Fehlmann auch diesmal den kongenialen Soundtrack beigesteuert. Basierend auf Klangmaterial des Jahres 1929 hat Fehlmann eine beeindruckende Musik geschaffen, in der manchmal die übertriebene Lebensfreude und Dekandenz jener Zeit aufflackert. Eine Musik, deren Stimmung jedoch unterwandert ist von den bedrohlichen Strömungen, die Deutschland kurz darauf in seine dunkelste Epoche stossen werden.

Thomas Fehlmann ist damit ein wahres Kunststück gelungen. So sehr die Produktion den Geist einer vergangenen Zeit atmet, so modern mutet sie an. "1929 - Original Filmmusik" klingt somit wie die zu Musik geronnene Erkenntnis, dass sich Gestern und Heute auf erschreckende Weise ähneln.

Wir bei Kompakt sind der Ansicht, dass Thomas Fehlmanns Filmmusik zu "1929 - Das Jahr Babylon' so spektakulär geraten ist, dass wir sie nun als limitierte CD und Vinyl-Auflage, sowie auf allen digitalen Plattformen verfügbar machen.

Four modern, textural, slow-burning instrumental hip hop soundscapes set a distinct mood on this new EP by the venerable Chris DeLuca. No fillers just killers, wie man in KARINs Heimatdorf unweit von Passau zu sagen pflegt. Oder wie es die Menschen in ihrer derzeitigen Wahlheimat Nürnberg auszudrücken pflegen: Liederbayern strikes back! Zugegeben: Tod & Teufel, die neue LP/CD von KARIN RABHANSL, ist ein wenig sinister geraten. Ein düsteres Rockalbum mit krummen Taktarten und allerlei Geschrei. Eine Dämonenplatte. Diesmal ist die Ringelprinzessin abgetaucht in die Abgründe und Untiefen der menschlichen Seele. Rabhansl erzählt von Werwölfen und Irrlichtern, über Alter, Einsamkeit, Stalker, Organhandel, faustsche Vertragsangebote und darüber, dass man es eh keinem Recht machen kann auf dieser Welt. Auch musikalisch hat sich einiges getan. Wenn man schon eine Rockband hat, dann kann man es auch mal ordentlich krachen lassen, nickt das Stromgitarren-Mädchen und gibt die Devise aus: Pop raus, Rock rein! Das neue Programm ist gestartet. Die Themen werden wilder, die Ziele exotischer. Ab jetzt ist wieder alles offen im Rabiversum: KARIN RABHANSL segelt weiter ins Abenteuer, immer der Nase nach, und wahrscheinlich ist es das, was wir an der liederbayerischen Niedermacherin am allermeisten mögen: ihre Neugier. Und ihre Unerschrockenheit.

So vergibt das britische Mixmag 8/10 Punkte und bezeichnet das Album als "schöne, soft-fokussierte Ansammlung an hauchdünnem Kopfhörer-House, meditativem Minimalismus und Strömen von Ambient Techno." Matt Karmil arbeitete bereits mit John Talabot, Axel Boman, Matias Aguayo und Kornel Kovacs zusammen und veröffentlichte bislang auf Kompakt, Idle Hands, Studio Barnhus und Yumé.

So kam die Postmoderne über uns und machte aus vormals ehrbaren Kulturschaffenden Werksarbeiter, denen alle Schrauben abhanden gekommen schienen, im besten Fall. Mit minimaler Eigenleistung (nimmt man die unbeabsichtigten Fehler in der Produktion mal aus), aber bei maximaler Entgleisung entstand ein gänzlich neuer Berufszweig. Der grundsolide Werksarbeiter, mit Gema Anmeldung im Griff und guten Draht zu seinem Steuerberater. Um die quietschfidelen Arpeggio Terroristen soll es heute mal nicht gehen. Unsere Protagonisten dieser Geschichte sind andere. Wahnwitzige, Soziophobiker, Menschen mit gebrochenen Lebensläufen statt Joghurt im Rucksack, emsig agierende Mitstreiter mit Tupperdose in der Tasche für die Frühstückspause, willens den Kampf der letzten Kulturoffensive zu Ende zu bringen, samplen, pitchen, alles zerhacken und zu undefinierbaren Fetzen von Funk wieder zusammensetzen. Ausgeglichen vom Duft der Natur ankommend denFortschritt definieren wollen und den Strom in die Maschinen juckeln. Ästheten der Fehler waren geboren. Losgelöst vom Fließband. Hart & tief wird geackert geschwitzt, gebimmelt, der Filter aufgedreht, der Schmutz schaufelweise rangekarrt, bis die Stufe der Erlösung erreicht wird oder eben halt auch nicht. Das Leben ist nun mal kein einziger Orgasmus und der Funk entsteht in den Pausen wie die Befriedigung der Gier und der Besitz des Moments, weil das Leben ist doch nur ein Wimpernschlag und wir immer nur einen Abgrund entfernt von Weltekel oder Erlösung.

Ströme Musik ist immer analoge Live-Musik, die an zwei A100 Modularsystemen entsteht, dazu gesellen sich auch mal andere analoge Synthies, Vocoder, Bass oder Trompete live und Percussion live. So spielen Ströme auch ihre Konzerte.

Ströme sind die zwei Vollblutmusiker Mario Basshofer und Tobi Weber der erfolgreichen Brass Techno Band LaBrassBanda, die sich zusammengeschlossen haben, um einen Mix aus treibenden Beats, analogen Synthmelodien und live Trompete zu schaffen und diesen auf die Festivalbühnen und in die Clubs zu bringen. Klare, ungeschliffene Sounds und dynamische Drums werden an Modularsynthesizern komplett live und von Hand gemacht.

Das macht Ströme zu einem einzigartigen Liveact. Einen derartigen Modular Liveact mit allerhöchstem Rave-Appeal gab es noch nie - jetzt gibt es Ströme. Ihre bisherigen Live Konzerte waren sensationell. Dieser erste Release (12' / digital) mit drei Tracks erscheint im September, eine weitere Maxi im Spätherbst und ihr Debüt Album wird im Februar 2017 folgen.

Lyssna Records is a newly formed label out of Stockholm overseen by Adam Stromstedt, Flord King and Mohammed Al Harbiti. Two of the founding members, Adam and Flord, join forces to create a deep, jazzy and delicately put together debut. A1 'Shakshuka' is a track driven by jazzy percussion and soothing chords on top and a slightly off kilter bass groove. A2 'Det Eviga Mysteriet' straight away hits you with a more hip hop and soul inspired touch with well thought out vocal samples on top of a bouncy beat. Flip side starts off with 'Foul' a slow pulsating track that is perfect for those late night shifts on the dance floor. Finishing off the EP we have Mr. Tophat's rendition of Shakshuka, weird and delightful at the same time, just like a Mr. Tophat remix should be, BLU.
