Rotterdam’s Nathan Homan jumps into the Spectral Bounce spotlight on SPEC09 — Frog Mine. These three cuts of mesmeric tech house roll, slip and spring from the speakers.

His Spectral Bounce debut is exemplified by punchy percussion playing against obscured, otherworldly sonics — something Homan has a particular instinct for, and which slot seamlessly into the SPEC catalog. Starting proceedings with a taut beat, snappy drums and hallucinatory croaks, the titular “Frog Mine” creates a hypnotic trip. Second track “Hyp” is a well-honed tech house roller: its adeptly slinking rhythm hearkens back to the 00’s, yet this framework is expanded upon with alien timbres and pinwheeling FX. Having set a heady tone, Homan doesn’t shy away from loosening up his sound: swapping the original’s smooth propulsion for a healthy dose of jackin’ bounce, the house mix of “Hyp” strips the ingredients back, before adding a cascade of syncopated toms and a seriously thumping kick.

La Dispute is an American post-hardcore band formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2004. The band consists of vocalist Jordan Dreyer, guitarist Chad Sterenberg, drummer Brad Vander Lugt, bassist Adam Vass, and guitarist Corey Stroffolino. Known for their intense and emotionally charged sound La Dispute has released five studio albums to critical acclaim, including “Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair” (2008), “Wildlife” (2011), and “Panorama” (2019). Their music often explores themes of loss, grief, and human relationships through a series of interconnencted stories. Following a decade spent releasing music digitally, Brandon De Carlo's Downside Up label made its vinyl debut late last year - though initially only in the US. The results so far have been full of character and depth, marking the emergence of a distinct artistic identity. A highly anticipated collaboration with Taiwan’s rising star Andr, released on vinyl for the first time with newly shot cover artwork! REJAY, a singer from Niseko, Hokkaido, joins forces with Andr, one of Taiwan’s most exciting emerging singer-songwriters in the alternative pop scene, for their first-ever collaboration, now available as a 7-inch vinyl release. REJAY, a 20-year-old singer whose voice captivated Nulbarich’s JQ, who also serves as his overall producer, released the A-side track “Hangover feat. Andr” in April 2026. The song is an ambitious work in which REJAY portrays a deep immersion into the emotions of a romantic relationship, while Andr offers a more detached and rational perspective. Their vocals and lyrics, spanning three languages, intertwine to create a unique musical experience. The B-side features “Meant to Be,” a fan-favorite track originally released in 2024, making this a must-have record for music lovers.

A native of the island nation of Cape Verde, Cesaria Evora was known as the country's foremost practitioner of the morna, a combination of West African percussion with Portuguese fados, Brazilian modinhas, and British sea shanties. After a short singing career in the 1970’s, she returned in the late ‘80s with a string of critically acclaimed and increasingly popular albums.

Her 1999 album Café Atlantico (a reference to her home where she frequently entertained guests) is a much-acclaimed masterpiece, finding Evora venturing into more Latin American musical landscapes, as opposed to Portuguese, which dominated her previous albums. Evora draws from traditional Cuban and Brazilian music to mesmerizing effect. The music is heart-breaking and nostalgic, warm and tragic all at once.

Scream and Soulside first played together at the Cubby Bear in Chicago in July 1988. After a few more shows together that year, they didn’t share a stage again until July 2022, at the Inne Brzmienia festival in Lublin, Poland. There in Poland the two bands met minds, and a match was struck. Soulside and Scream soon released new albums on Dischord Records, then toured together in the US and Europe in 2023 and 2024.

This 7" is a gathering of forces and musical admiration to spread a message of love and a lifelong commitment to the struggle for true American justice. “Laissez-Faire” was written by Scream and first appeared on Still Screaming (Dischord, 1983). This version is performed by Soulside and was recorded and mixed in June 2025. “Reconstruction” was written by Soulside and first appeared on A Brief Moment in the Sun (Dischord, 2022). This version is performed by Scream and was recorded in September 2024.

Back in print on vinyl in Europe, Mia Gargaret is an ambient, (mostly) instrumental album by Chicago, IL singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Gia Margaret. Not the follow-up she intended to release after the critical success of her debut album but after having to cancel tours because of an illness that left unable to sing for nearly half of the year, she had to rethink her methods. The resulting album is an incredible achievement, finding beauty and possibility in uncertainty while allowing Gia the time to heal. This limited eco-mix pressing was first made available from her merch desk on her recent European tour and is now available from select record stores.

Das Album beginnt mit dem energiegeladenen ,Ready Or Not", in dem Kirkland selbstbewusst verkündet: ,Baby, I am ready", und damit den Ton für ein triumphales Comeback angibt. Produzent Kelly Finnigan lässt in ,Where Did We Go Wrong" die üppige Raffinesse des Philly-Soul einfließen und unterlegt Kirklands Reflexion über eine Liebe in Aufruhr mit Bläsern, Flöte, Waldhorn und Sitar. Finnigan arrangiert zudem das romantische ,Leading Lady" und begleitet Kirkland beim zarten ,Remembering Our Love" im Hintergrundgesang. Der Midtempo-Titelsong ,The Business" widmet sich sozialen Themen und verbindet fließende Streicherklänge mit Texten, die systemische Ungerechtigkeit und polizeiliche Unterdrückung thematisieren. Im Gegensatz dazu fängt ,Joyriding" die Unbeschwertheit des Sommers mit einem mitreißenden Groove ein, der zu den Höhepunkten des Albums zählt. Die vielbeachtete Single ,Glowin'" bildet den Abschluss des Albums. Inspiriert von der Version der Rationals aus dem Jahr 1969 des von Dr. John komponierten Stücks spiegelt der Song Kirklands beständige Botschaft wider, spirituelles Gleichgewicht und Glück dem materiellen Erfolg vorzuziehen. ,The Business" wurde zwischen Ende 2021 und Mitte 2022 geschrieben und aufgenommen, unter Mitwirkung von Jimmy James (Parlor Greens) und Lou King (Ironsides). "Die Kanone" und die slowenische Version "S topom te bom ciljal moja mala" erscheinen erstmals physisch, mit Remixen der deutschen Industrial/EBM-Legenden DIE KRUPPS (die eine episch-wuchtige Version beisteuern, welche ein Hit in ganz eigener Sache ist), des britischen Produzenten The Lincolnshire Poacher sowie des slowenisch-kroatischen Elektronik-Duos Black Dot. Der sechste Titel der 12"-Vinylversion ist eine Live-Aufnahme aus der Oper von Ljubljana, eingespielt mit dem RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. “Vallee,” with its infectious 12-bit groove, opens the EP with a syncopated, never-ending jazz-infused vibraphone. “Bone” takes it from there, staying midtempo and percussive while pushing funky horns into trippy, repetitive territory.

Side B turns moodier, as expected. “2600’” unfolds through digital strings of life, enabling a sense of suspension, release, and transcendence. Lastly, “Ambientale” closes the record with the ethereal, wobbly analog warmth of a downtempo drift into dawn.

After a long wait, Metroplane is finally bringing their original 2019 club anthem ‘Be Where I Am’ to vinyl for the first time. Featuring Daniel Wilson's powerful vocal performance, the track slowly but surely made it into everyone’s set thanks to its timeless delivery and production.

On the B-Side US electronic pioneer Morgan Geist brings his signature touch to the original. Best known for his for pioneer work as half of Metro Area, Geist is also the man behind Storm Queen and the UK Number 1 ‘Look Right Through'.

“The Long Transition From Death To Wisdom” marks a new chapter in Dmitry’s evolving sonic world – a contemplative, slow‑burning journey through grief, memory, and the quiet emergence of clarity. Rooted in a brooding fusion of shoegaze, goth, and darkwave, the album drifts through washed out guitars, spectral synths, and poignant vocals – its emotional landscape suspended between sadness and awakening. On vocal duties is Dmitry’s longtime collaborator Valeria Simonova, whose presence deepens the album’s atmosphere. Each track feels like a step forward in the ritual of becoming aware of one’s own existence, moving through silence and ancient memories toward a sense of spiritual renewal.

The album opens with the mysticism and layered metaphors of “Liar,” before descending into the ancient, biblical presence of “Serpent Queen.” Midway, “Zenith” rises with shimmering synths and steady, triumphant percussion, while “Echoes of Yesterday” lingers in celestial melancholy, dissolving the boundary between remembrance and insight. The Bside begins with “The Other Side of Life,” a threshold into a quieter, more reflective space, followed by the meditative, ritual like ambience of “Shrine of Ruins.” Closing track “Cold” offers a final exhale from the fading realm of the past – an acceptance shaped by distance, time, and the erosion of old wounds.

An array of musicians contributed to the recoding of the album: Mathys Dubois (No One Is Innocent, exBlack Strobe), Loïc Maurin (M83), Victor Sologub (Deadушки, Странные Игры), Alexander Titov (Кино, Аквариум), Ben Easton (Deary), and others. The album was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell.

Mutual Rytm's Versus sub-label returns with a dark, absorbing new EP from contemporary techno innovators Kameliia and BLANKA. Kameliia and BLANKA both previously appeared on Federation of Rytm IV and now step forward with their long-awaited debut EPs. It is another standout for Mutual Rytm's Versus series, which has already made an impact with two previous EPs from Regent and Chontane and Klint and Hemka. This third release subtly evolves the sound into more hypnotic and atmospheric worlds that bring fresh perspectives to the series. Bulgarian-born, Norway-based Kameliia’s music is rooted in cinematic, melancholic and hypnotic sounds. She translates deep emotions into immersive sonic landscapes inspired by nature, particularly the moon, the sky and their atmospheric qualities. Along with Berlin-based Spaniard BLANKA, she has released on labels such as SK_Eleven, while BLANKA also co-founded Room Trax and draws heavily on the human voice, which she considers one of the most personal and intimate instruments. She uses it to create an emotional, direct connection with the dance floor, with a clean, minimal, timeless style rich in emotion. Kameliia opens up with the weighty kicks and eerie atmospheres of 'Bird In A Cage' before 'Red Sky' layers taut kicks and icy synths into a hypnotic forward charge full of depth and darkness, then 'Lightness' has an unsettling and paranoid lead hanging in the air next to vocal fragments and haunting pads. BLANKA’s offering begins with tightly wound kicks and bass on the dubby 'Say It With Me'; 'Self Pleasure' is an immersive and rubbery rhythm with cosmic synth work, and 'Rabbit Habits' brings funky synth lines that radiate a sense of subtle light and hope amidst the darkness of the groove. Two digital bonus cuts from each artist follow: Kameliia's unsettling, dystopian soundscape 'No Longer A Desire' and the backlit suspense of 'Vivere', and BLANKA's gritty, loopy 'Dream VST' and the deep-space odyssey that is 'Gone For Good'.

Split#5 marks the fifth and final installment of the Split series on the Various Artists catalogue of Pi Electronics, pairing Spanish producer Hurtado and Greek producer Nikitas Grs. Despite their distinct approaches, Hurtado's industrial-leaning broken beat funk and Nikitas Grs' psychedelia-infused noise techno converge through a shared aesthetic of textured sound design, raw energy and dark atmospheres. On the A-side, Hurtado showcases his trademark production style through the driving cuts "Show of Force" and "Bad Company", while "The End", featuring vocals by Genevieve GV, reveals a more experimental side of his production. The B-side welcomes Nikitas Grs with two compositions that blur the boundaries between techno, trance and industrial music. The live version of "Susano" unfolds as a rolling, hypnotic dancefloor trip, while "Anoriotos" balances heavy rhythmic impact with an underlying sense of ambient nostalgia. The digital bonus track, "Pollinator 5000", reveals yet another facet of Nikitas Grs' sound palette: a relentless piece of noise-techno that rounds off the release with uncompromising intensity.

Following the strong response to Late Checkout 001 and support from DJs including Louise Chen and Mafalda, Mark Sexton returns with four more hazy club excursions that blur the lines between deep house, UK Garage and sample-heavy soul. Warm, dusty and effortlessly musical, Late Checkout 002 builds confidently on the sound that made its predecessor a favorite among discerning selectors.

MASA 007 sees DJ Sodeyama at his most incisive and introspective, delivering three cuts of direct, mental techno, complemented by a powerful remix from Atomic moog. Across four tracks, the record flows with clarity and purpose, driven by sharply defined drums and acid-tinged textures, while layered with expansive ambient pads and evolving atmospheres, resulting in a sound that is both forceful and deeply immersive. Atomic moog’s reinterpretation, a signature of this modular wizard duo, built around earthy psychedelic pads, field recordings and organic synths, cements MASA 007 as a refined statement of modern techno’s cerebral intensity and emotional depth.

Bill Beau was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but was raised in the western provinces, finishing high school in Edmonton, Alberta. It was while in high school that the "righteous rays" via radio struck Beau in the form of Meade Lux Lewis, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons at the height of the Boogie Woogie rage. It was while in high school that Bill got his first gig. He played piano and worked with Wilf Harper, a guitarist of local renown. Beau played on weekends and during the week worked as a clothing salesman, stock clerk, refinery worker, service station attendant and freight checker. He travelled all across Canada, and finally landed in Los Angeles, California.

In 1958 his love of music compelled him to direct all of his energy toward the perfection of his musical talent, so he decided to settle permanently in Los Angeles. Beau first worked there as a vibraphonist, gigging with such stars as Ben Webster, Rex Stewart, Pete Fountain, and Stuff Smith. Once, when his regular organist failed to show up for a date, Beau ended up on the Hammond. Beau then formed his own group, and the trio got a standing date at the Blue Port Lounge. The other two members of the trio are Jo Stafford on guitar, Lorenzo Green on drums, plus the pretty and petite vocalist with the group, Chi Chi.

Second Storey launches new record label High Canopy - with Ladakh EP, 20 years since the artist's first vinyl release. Storey's working template has always been to take on the observations of his inner and outer world experiences, folding them into his expertise as a highly skilled drummer, knack for dream-scape sound design and love of rave and soundsystem culture. High Canopy promises to be an environment that platforms full artistic freedom and homes the mechanised, cerebral dancefloor workouts of Second Storey's studio life alongside his deeper, more experimental terrain. The EP's first stop is 'Blue Eye' named after the spring source of the Bistrice river in Albania. Crystal-clear sound design that echoes the flow of this natural water and sits alongside softly distorted low end. Contrasting 'Urban Hermit' was written in Berlin, during a bout of cabin fever and is a heavy case of gnarled up, spat out, paranoid machine funk. 'Post Columbia' - recorded after an eye opening trip to Bogota- then shifts the tone for the B side into more heady melodic territory with luminous, floating synths evolving throughout the track. ' ABC Conjecture' builds an intense atmosphere as it crawls and morphs across growling, distorted bass with a creeping shuffle of layered elements building overhead. Title track 'Ladakh' completes the EP, inspired by the remote town in the Indian Himalayas on the border of Tibet, AKA snow leopard country. It takes on a special and expansive ambient quality of this deeply precious and spiritual mountain land.

Neil McDonald's love of the outdoors is a constant feature in his music, hence his Lord Of The Isles moniker, a direct reference to the Highlands and islands of his native Scotland.

His vivid, effervescent and blissfully cinematic sound paints a soundtrack to unmade films, building imaginary worlds inspired by his childhood passion for science fiction. It is therefore no coincidence that the closing track 'Subtle Thoughts' samples the inimitable voice of Carl Sagan and is also the name of his forthcoming album on Lapsus Records.

Subtle Thoughts' is an album of sumptuous melancholic electronica that, like all his previous works, avoids being pigeonholed. In it we find ambient and IDM, but also breaks and down-tempo 4x4 beats with deep ruminations, and even passages akin to new age and Balearic. In Neil's own words, the real concept behind 'Subtle

Thoughts' is "The spaces in between. Listening to the quiet voices. Freedom of expression and being open. It also contains my hopes and fears for the future of our world, but mainly hope and love".

Subtle Thoughts' will be released on 8 December with two advance singles: 'Open Mode' accompanying the album launch on 7 October; followed by 'Return to Yourself' on 4 November.

Len Lewis arrives on Amsterdam’s Dzungla, digging into the tech house veteran’s vault for a mix of archival material and previously unreleased cuts. Four tracks spanning from 2003 to 2021, showcasing his trademark dark, driving sound, with three tracks being released for the first time.

The A-side reissues the original “Paradise People”, the highly sought-after 2002 cut and enduring spaced out favourite. On the A2 comes the previously unreleased “Paradise People (2003 Dub)”, a more dubbed-out version produced in 2003 but never released before.

The B-side opens with “Bare Back”, an eerie high-energy groover, while the B2, titled “A1”, takes things into wonkier, more stripped-back territory. Two contrasting cuts that work across the dance floor, from peak-time sets to the opening hours.
