You're strolling down an alley in New Orleans or Brooklyn late at night and this sound jumps out at you -- rock & roll, classic rhythm & blues, sung and played with verve, personality, and joy. The dance floor is full. You stroll in and hear sounds that wouldn't have sounded out of place on the legendary Specialty Records of the 1950s and '60s.

Indeed one of the eight cuts onWrite It Down, the new album fromJackson& The Janks, comes from the repertoire of rhythm & blues singer Mamie Perry, first recorded in 1959. The rest areJacksonLynch originals, inspired by his time living and playing music in the Crescent City. Theuniquearrangementsof the band itself have deep roots in NOLA, too, with Matt Bell (Esther Rose) on lap steel, Craig Flory (Tuba Skinny) on bass saxophone and Sam Doores (The Deslondes) sharing backing vocals while trading-off on drums and keys.

Jacksonand the Janks have performed at the Brooklyn Folk Fest, Blackpot Festival (Louisiana), and Oldtone Festival (New York) and did a video session for tastemaker series GemsOnVHS and Jackson a solo session for Paste. Its residency on Fridays in Brooklyn (when they're not on tour) packs the house week after week with fans and folks drawn in by the word-of-mouth buzz and the sound.

"Change of the Century" is the second album recorded by Ornette Coleman's quartet featuring Don Cherry on trumpet, Charlie Haden on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums and is considered one of the essential recordings of the avant-garde jazz movement. Ornette Coleman was a revolutionary figure in jazz, known for his innovative approach to improvisation and composition. Undiscovered Recordings is a London- and Naples-based independent record label founded in 1994. Showcasing new and exciting production talent, Undiscovered was founded by a crack team of music industry experts, the two Angelos, Doug and Mario, in the midst of the dance music movement of the 1990s.

The Angelos met while working at UMM and Flying Records. Founding Undiscovered allowed them to move
away from the traditional dance music of the time and to highlight lesser-known artists and styles. Angelo
Tardio, in-house A&R, capitalised on his trail-blazing career as a DJ, as the founder of iconic label U.M.M., and his production career as Kwanzaa Posse, where he collaborated with huge talents such as Mano Negra, Manu Chao, King Chango, MC Solaar and Les Negresses Vertes, to name just a few. Doug Osborne, British DJ & Producer and co-founder. Angelo Bernardo brought his years of experience in the music industry to take over the business side of the company, and Mario Nicoletti came on board as a true living musical encyclopaedia and expert. Alberto Faggiana joined in 1998 to contribute his industry know-how to curate the legal and administrative aspects. And so the Undiscovered team was complete.

Undiscovered has since moved with the times, from classic dance genres into Balearic chill-out, all the while
maintaining its goals to showcase emerging producers and artists. After a long hiatus, and following a number of forced changes in the company, Undiscovered are back in full force. Kwanzaa Posse achieved success back in the 90's with such hits as "Wicked Funk", "African Vibrations" and "Musika!", all of which attracted collaborations with remixes by Massive Attack, Jam & Spoon, and Ralph Falcon & Oscar Gaetan - aka Murk Boys. Now the production unit responsible for such seminal tracks is back with a magical new track called 'Mali Chant'.

Here's a true double-A 45. The A-side, "If We Try," a new cut from Thee Sinseers finds them in a more uptempo pace the band, and thriving! With Joey Quinones and Adriana Flores trading leads on this one, this tune is sure to get the dance floors packed! The B-side, "Give It Up You Fool," features the unmistakable voice of Brian Ponce on lead and finds Thee Sinseers right in their slow and sweet pocket. It's an album cut that simply had to be put on a 45.

Black Truffle is pleased to announce a new edition of Kassel Jaeger’s Fernweh, returning François J. Bonnet’s electroacoustic project to the label five years after the acclaimed Meith (BT069). Originally released on Giuseppe Ielasi and Jennifer Veillerobe’s impeccably curated Senufo Editions in 2012, Fernweh stands near the beginning of the gradual expansion of Bonnet’s approach after the austere acoustic textures of Aerae and Algae (both released on Senufo), leading to the lush, layered environments of recent solo works on Shelter Press and the epic electronic expeditions undertaken in duo projects with Stephen O’Malley and Jim O’Rourke.

A major work in the Kassel Jaeger oeuvre, stretching over two LP sides, Fernweh draws together synthesized and musique concrète materials into a drifting assemblage. Its title’s meaning is close to the concept of ‘Wanderlust’, fitting for this music that moves freely and unexpectedly between what Bonnet calls ‘climates’. Beginning with fizzing electronics whose rhythm of gradual approach suggests breaking waves, the clinical atmosphere is soon haunted by intangible traces of lived reality. Textures call up wind, water, insects, the crunch of feet on sand or the clinking of glasses, yet they can never be identified with any certainty. At times these concrete elements possess a vivid ‘closeness’; at others, the sounds shade into a formless distance. Though the listener forms no clear picture from the concrete sounds, these elements aerate the music, lending it their space.

Drawing from the rigorous formal language and conceptual apparatus of the French musique concrète tradition—with which Bonnet, as director of the GRM and researcher into its deepest archival recesses, is intimately familiar—the music of Kassel Jaeger is equally informed by how underground experimental music has rethought electroacoustic techniques, with Fernweh at times calling up the grit and grime of para-industrial eccentrics like Maurizio Bianchi or the Toniutti brothers, and at other moments suggesting the slow-moving grandeur of early Olivia Block. Subtle features of dynamics and rhythm act as connective tissue between the numerous ‘scenes’, with wave-like envelopes, rapid pulsations, and short, tape-loop patterns all recurring throughout the piece, shared ambiguously between electronic and concrete sounds. Amid these shifting, often inharmonic textures, the electronic elements sometimes cohere into melodic shapes and chordal patterns, cutting through the fog in distorted arcs or underpinning the layered surface with slow-moving harmonies. Like his friend and collaborator Jim O’Rourke, Bonnet displays a radical openness at odds with academic tradition, allowing unabashed emotion to coexist with rigorous experimentation. As Fernweh dies away with mysterious shudders, listeners are left at once moved and unsure of exactly what they just heard.

EGO, as a tradition for ten years. Again this year, at the Miami Winter Music Conference, we have
selected several tracks that will count down with you, accompanying you to the start of one of the most
anticipated EDM events of the year. The MMW brings together thousands of professionals and
enthusiasts who will participate in a series of events in Miami, concluding with the iconic “Ultra Music
Festival”.

The selection presented this year reflects current musical trends. Established names like TR3NACRIA,
Cecilia Krull and Tommy Vee with the talented emerging Defreeze, Bohemoon and just a boy, the great
returns of Sapienza, Solarys and Bacon Popper. The energy of Berin, the good vibes of Roberto Tropea
and the euphoric productions of Ema Feud and B-Rain. The ensemble takes place through the extended
version braid that creates a collection usable by both EDM fans and professionals: DJs and producers.

We are back with another chapter in our ongoing series of unearthing smooth vibes from all over the world, this time we go back to the FUTURE for you with: THE SUNSET MANIFESTO Volume 2. After a five year break mainly concentrating on the late 70s/early 80s Westcoast Soul/Yacht/AOR sound, we finally dive deep into the modern world of our beloved sister-label Too Slow To Disco NEO (for the third time after 2018s TSTD NEO - En France and 2020s The Sunset Manifesto excursions). But of course it wasn't a real 5 year break since the first Sunset Manifesto compilation, as in the meantime we also released a few digital TSTD Neo singles, and - more importantly - our "Too Slow To Disco NEO - FM" playlist on spotify (handcurated by Dj Supermarkt every week and now hosting more than 1500 tracks of mellow, modern sunshine vibes) was growing steadily and becoming a new, important fixpoint in the TSTD musical universe. TSTD NEO is the outlet Dj Supermarkt is using to unearth modern laidback, smooth, sunny slow disco vibes with a soulful Westcoast/Balearic touch. For him TSTD always has been about a laidback vibe/feeling, not a certain time period in musical history. And that sunny Westcoast vibe we dug out on those traditional TSTD compilations has become a huge influence to so many modern artists. So it makes sense that we present the cream of new slo/mo NuDisco/Sunset Disco/Daytime Disco acts in the TSTD format, a luxurious compilation, with artists from all across the globe: Not only from the two homelands of that modern slow disco sound, Los Angeles/California and France, but also from Beijing, Montreal, Mexico, London, New York, Stockholm, Rotterdam… the moon, you name it! This music is more a state of mind, a feeling, then a geographical thing. Mit ihrem fünften Studioalbum machte die Band um Frontmann Nergal einen großen Schritt weg von ihren rohen und primitiven Anfängen. Als Erbe der Tradition der Griots - Geschichtenerzähler, Dichter und Musiker, die jahrhundertelang als Hüter des westafrikanischen Kulturerbes fungierten - war Ousmane ein Wegbereiter des modernen elektrischen Mandingue-Sounds. An der Seite von Mory Kanté & Kanté Manfi la bei Les Ambassadeurs du Motel de Bamako und später bei der in Abidjan ansässigen Band Les Ambassadeurs Internationaux schmiedete Ousmane seine Karriere, bevor er dem malischen Sänger Salif Keita mehr als drei Jahrzehnte lang als dessen Gitarrist diente. Unzählige Jahre des Tourens brachten Ousmane dazu, sich auf seine eigenen Kompositionen zu konzentrieren. „Kefi mba“, benannt nach dem schwarzen Stier aus seiner Kindheit, mit dem er sein Maniok-Essen geteilt hatte, und „N'Ny“ wurden im renommierten JBZ Recording Studio in Abidjan aufgenommen. Sie wurden zunächst auf Kassette veröffentlicht und kamen 1982 und 1983 auf Vinyl heraus. Nur wenige Monate nach der Leon Keita-Veröffentlichung präsentiert Analog Africa nun Ousmane Kouyatés zwei funkgetränkte Mandingue-Perlen aus den frühen 1980er Jahren, sorgfältig restauriert, gepresst auf pink gefärbtem 180g-Vinyl und in einer wunderschönen Siebdruckhülle.

LA-based producer Real Bad Man and Detroit artist ZelooperZ release their joint album Dear Psilocybin via the pro-ducer’s own Real Bad Man Records. The album marks the duo’s first collaboration, culminating in a full-length project that also features guest appearances from Boldy James, MAVI and a verse from The Alchemist. On Dear Psilocybin, ZelooperZ invokes unconventional production out of Real Bad Man to match his own unpredictable and outlandish delivery, working outside of traditional song structures and existing in a lane of his own. The Detroit multihyphenate, who is an integral part of Danny Brown’s Bruiser Brigadecollective and also an accomplished visual artist, painted the album’s corresponding cover artwork as well.

“I definitely haven’t made anything like this before, it’s a very subtle version of my music as far as tone, ” ZelooperZ explained in a conversation with Real Bad Man for his RBM Radio show. He elaborates on the off-kilter approach to the way he recorded to say, “the album feels like a movie soundtrack for a film about a man losing his mind and getting spurts of memories along the way. ”

Speaking about how the project differs from the rest of his collaborative catalog, RBM says, “It’s trippy and it’s a little different – but the main goal was for it to be authentic to Z and his process. ” That dedication to authenticity rings true across his catalog, drawing back to the foundations of his beginnings as a producer, learning the fundamentals of sampling, experimenting with chords and learning to piece songs together by ear. RBM builds a cohesive production arc around each artist he works with, catered to their strengths as artists, working with a variety of lyrical stylists includ-ing Memphis rapper Lukah, Pink Siifu, Blu, Kool Keith, Elcamino & more.

Real Bad Man is the production moniker of visual artist and designer Adam Jay Weissman. A designer and visual artist first, he made his foray into music through his On High Alert series of imaginative, multi-generational compilations, which have featured the likes of Roc Marciano, ROME STREETZ, Pink Siifu, Maxo and more. In the years since, he’s partnered with some of hip-hop’s most talented and adventurous artists on full-length projects, refining and shaping the trajectory of some of rap’s most exciting independent artists.

A decade has passed since Infinity Night graced Bordello A Parigi with his wonderful Winter and Summer EPs. After too long a wait, the French producer returns with the aptly titled Le Temps Qui Passe. Six slices of select synthesizer music make up the 12”, tracks lovingly crafted with Frederic Bergamaschi’s trademark analogue warmth. A melancholic melody meanders through brightness in “Tu Ne Me Réponds Pas”, dulcet words hidden under the machine gauze of a vocoder. Skittish percussion gives way to the refrain of “It’s Full of Stars”. Hazy keys appear as an arpeggiator rumbles below a shimmering sky. “Les Souvenirs De Valerie” picks up where its predecessor left off. Astral notes are beamed into the heavens, echoing into the while crisp cymbals tether the piece. Infinity Night has always sought that point of balance in his music, a bittersweetness he accentuates and explores. This is true in the darker shades of “Nymphomania”. Beats are bolstered, key stabs piercing the tenderness of analogue trills. The title track is a rich patchwork. A burbling undercurrent supports forays into diverse tangents with lyrics surfacing through key shifts and sliding scales. Marching to militaristic rhythms, “I Comme Icare” is the curtain call. The stringent drums are broken by sailing synthlines, vocals masked in a familiar mesh to close. Le Temps Qui Passe, well worth the wait.

After several killer EPs and tracks on labels such as Tresor, Multi Culti, Hard Fist, or Playground Records, Antonio De Oto aka A-Tweed finally delivers "Spring Music" his first solo LP via Abstrakce Records, changing perspective on his music and way of producing. A minimal approach, where echoes and reverbs become some of the main characters of the full journey, mixing up weird acid, experimental downbeat, electro, dub, and tribal vibes across a wide range of tempos.

Slow-motion beats pulse beneath swirling acid lines, while dubby echoes and reverberations sculpt a landscape that is both immersive and mysterious. A-Tweed’s meticulous production draws from the label’s tradition of organic textures and ambient vibes, yet carves a distinct path balancing deep bass, shimmering synths, and a subtle sense of psychedelia that lingers long after the needle lifts.

A cohesive journey, crafted for those who seek introspective voyages without giving up new forms of dancefloor communion. A manifesto about the power of slow rhythms, dub sensibilities, and acid-tinged experimentation, out of any hype and trend, aiming for a distinctive sound. Hot summer rain hits the cracked pavement in uneven rhythms. A neon sign flickers above a café that never seems to close, its warm white light reflected in the wet ground like a fever dream. The air smells of summer and the world hums with an easy tone, as if the city itself is holding its breath. A light flooded film noir-ish scene, that needs a soundtrack like "POOL JAMS", the new album of INIT, the Berlin based duo, that already caused quite a stir with their albums for Hivern Discs and Optimo Music. This time, they bring their latest creations out on R.i.O. - a label, with whom they are deeply associated. Their fourth longplayer is a playful one. One that brings trip hopping feelings. That has r'n'b grace, without catering regular trademarks of the genre. Dub, trance, drone, is all there too. Yet, nothing is present in pure definition. Rather suggested, interwoven, or newly twisted in a songwriting style, that haunts and seduces. On top the voice of Nadia D'Alò dances, steps and hums tempting to the grooves she created with her partner in crime Benedikt Frey. Together they fashioned a record, that, as INIT puts it, is "some kind of old photo from an old dry empty pool that got faded by sunlight ".
