Miles Davis's Kind of Blue was the number-one jazz album in history. It totaled five songs. There are four more songs from that same historic group, recorded in the same time period and at the same studio. And here they are. These songs deserve to stand on their own with artwork to highlight the quality of the music and that matches the time period of the recording. This is a rare opportunity to have a smash follow-up to what many consider the greatest jazz record ever!

Through the years, these four remarkable performances — all from a single recording session in 1958 and all exemplary of the sound of Miles Davis' legend-loaded sextet of that year — have not been served well. They have been largely treated as add-ons for other compilations. Now, for the first time, Analogue Productions, the audiophile in-house reissue label of Acoustic Sounds, Inc., together with Quality Record Prssings, has deservedly given these tracks a stellar stand-alone release for jazz fans to savor!

The once-in-a-generation lineup that recorded these tunes is the very same that would be immortalized for the enduring classic they would record almost a year later, Kind of Blue. Davis played trumpet sublime with his ensemble sextet featuring pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley.

Undervalued since their recording, the tunes on this album reflect historial and musical significance. They offer early glimpses into the modal jazz that Kind of Blue would bring to the forefront. Using modes common in modern classical music, rather than the chords of popular songs, Miles had begun to experiment with the new approach on the Milestones recording sessions previously.

For this release, we started with the original 3-track recording session tapes that were mixed down to a brand-new 30 ips quarter-inch stereo master tape by senior mastering engineer Vic Anesini at Battery Studios. From that stereo master tape, Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab cut the lacquers at 33 1/3 RPM utilizing the legendary Doug Sax's custom all-tube system and cutting lathe. The lacquers were plated and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings. Lastly, the Stoughton Printing tip-on gatefold jacket with a deluxe scuff-resistant matte finish is the highest quality available. The artwork has an incredible spot-on look to a 1959 Columbia records release!

Vibraphonist Milt Jackson and tenor saxophonist John Coltrane make for a surprisingly complementary team on this 1959 studio session, their only joint recording. AllMusic notes that with fine backup by pianist Hank Jones, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Connie Kay, Bags and Trane stretch out on two of Jackson's originals (including "The Late Late Blues") and three standards: a romping "Three Little Words," "The Night We Called It a Day," and the rapid "Be-Bop." The highlight of the set is the eponymous opening track, which just oozes late-night cool.

This deluxe 180-gram 45 RPM 2LP reissue from Analogue Productions (Atlantic 75 Series) is a gem and will be a must-have for all jazz music fans.

Over the past half century, Tony Levin has been a prolific session player and one of the most active live performers on the planet. He’s contributed his talents to over five hundred albums amongst which include 15 with Peter Gabriel and 18 with King Crimson (counting live, studio, and compilations) alongside contributions to the work of John Lennon, Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, Herbie Mann, Paul Simon and many others. On tour, he’s traveled the World many times over with the aforementioned King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, and several of his own bands including Stick Men

This Fall, he’ll stage 65 performances in North America as a member of BEAT, celebrating King Crimson’s ‘80s repertoire alongside Adrian Belew, Steve Vai and Danny Carey interpreting “Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair.”

Exploring the idioms and tropes of the golden age of jazz, the record is built from deep pocket swing, lovesick ballads, percolating latin grooves, and upbeat melodies that can"t help but bring a smile to one"s face. With undertones of contentment and playfulness, each song evokes a sound and style of some of the 20th"s Century"s greatest jazz composers before evolving into passages of animated improvisation from Denmark"s finest new-generation soloists. Anyone who has been keeping up to date with Denmark"s prolific scene will recognize the members of "Oh People" from their solo projects and contributions to many of the nation"s leading jazz innovations. Jonas Due"s trumpet can be heard in the DR Big Band, and popular modern outfit OTOOTO. Andreas Toftemark cut his teeth working and learning as a musician in New York, before returning to Denmark to establish himself with two releases under his own name, receive the prestigious Bent Jædig Prize, and become one of the country"s busiest artists. After releasing their accomplished debut album “NEW AGE PARANOIA” in 2023, THE DSM IV are following up with this limited edition, vinyl only EP “NEGATIVE UTOPIA”. Picking up where "Máquina de Vénus" (Blacksea Não Maya) left off, this is now 100% DJ Kolt at the controls. Slow, grinding power tools working their way across the complex web of ideas the producer lays down. Truly a next level thing, taking elements from recognized styles such as tarraxo, EDM, even trap, bending their accepted signifiers to suit his own creative mind instead of the crowd pleasing monster that constantly haunts Dance Music. Here we find a wonderful, twisted approach to the dancefloor, one heavy on brain activity, fantastically moody, showcasing music that we long ago quit trying to define.

"Despertar" (again) changes the game, adding secret doors and pathways previously unheard and unthought of. This right here is the mark of a unique producer. You'll have a hard time trying to compare Kolt with any other artist on Príncipe, much less on the outside world. A keen sense of groove filters through all tracks, the dance is never forgotten but you know there are certain demands - you can't just expect a straight line to "a good night out", there's an effort required, you'll have to reach out as well so you can let loose and connect with the universal Master Plan.

Recorded in 1966 and released by Blue Note Records in August of 1967, Don Cherry's Symphony for Improvisers features Gato Barbieri, Henry Grimes, and Ed Blackwell, all of whom had appeared on Cherry's previous album Complete Communion. Also featured are Karl Berger, Jean-François Jenny-Clark, and Pharoah Sanders. The album received a rating of ****½ on AllMusic, with reviewer Steve Huey stating that, "Even though the album is full of passionate fireworks, there's also a great deal of subtlety. Feverish but well-channeled, this larger-group session is probably Cherry's most gratifying for Blue Note."

Die schwedischen Heavy Rocker GREENLEAF haben mit ihrem neunten Album "The Head & The Habit" den vorläufigen Gipfel ihrer langen Evolution erklommen. Die musikalische Handschrift und Virtuosität von Gitarrist Tommi Holappa, seit mehr als 25 Jahren einer der Vorreiter und tragenden Säulen der europäischen Stoner Rock Szene, zeichnen sich deutlich ab. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Daughter, Maro and Billie Marten, she carries you into a place of reflection and calm with her raw vocal and honest songwriting. Wem das Bild einer Horde Ratten keine Gänsehaut verursacht, den mag der Hinweis schrecken, dass "Infectious Vermin" auch aufgrund der Frustration des deutschen Duos über die Aversion der Metal-Szene gegen jegliche Veränderung herangezüchtet wurde. Aber keine Sorge: Obwohl es RATS OF GOMORRAH satt haben, wenn einfach nur die müden Klischees eines durchschnittlichen Death Metal-Albums wiedergekäut werden, sind sie nicht einfach vom sinkenden Schiff gesprungen. Ihr Sound wurzelt noch immer im Todesmetall, aber er sprießt nun auch in Richtung von Heavy- und Speed Metal. Der Stimmeinsatz ist auf "Infectious Vermin" besonders abwechslungsreich gehalten und die Härtesuppe wurde obendrein mit scharfen Gewürzen wie Crust-angehauchten Riffs und eingängigen Refrains veredelt. Inhaltlich verwandeln die Deutschen aktuelle Themen in finstere Geschichten im Stil von H. P. Lovecraft, in denen es vor Rattenplagen nur so wimmelt. RATS OF GOMORRAH haben eine viel längere Geschichte hinter sich, als es ihr Erscheinen unter diesem Namen vermuten lässt. Streng genommen kam das deutsche Duo zwar erst im Jahr 2023 mit dem neuen Nager-Namen aus seinem Loch gekrochen, och die Band hat bereits über ein Jahrzehnt Death Metal auf dem Buckel. Gitarrist und Sänger Daniel Stelling war ebenso wie Moritz Paulsen am Schlagzeug seit dem Jahr 2009 ein Teil des international operierenden norddeutschen Death Metal Trios DIVIDE, das sich bereits im Jahr 2016 in ein Duo verwandelte. Wem es nun auf der Haut juckt und kribbelt, während aus den Wänden kriechende und raschelnde Geräusche dringen, der findet ein perfektes Gegenmittel zum aufkeimenden Gefühl des Grauens in "Infectious Vermin": Einfach den Lautstärkeregler auf 10 gedreht und es ist keine Ratte mehr zu hören. Dafür hämmern vielleicht ein, zwei oder auch vier Nachbarn an die Wohnungstür. Egal, lasst es alle wissen: RATS OF GOMORRAH sind nicht aufzuhalten!

After a string of celebrated releases for labels like Eglo, Neroli, and Sounds Familiar, Patrick Gibin unveils his debut album on his own Mother Tongue imprint, showcasing his signature dedication to all things deep and soulful.


Standout collaborations include tracks with Kaidi Tatham, such as “Gear Up Rudi!” and “Let It Go,” with Kaidi also delivering a rare vocal performance on the title track. Patrick’s early house and acid influences shine on “No Matter What” and “Joint Purpose (Alternative Mix),” while his notorious love for boogie is on full display in “Team Spirit” and the Sandra St. Victor collaboration, “Come Mornin’.”


Sandra, best known as the powerhouse voice of The Family Stand, brings her unmistakable vocal brilliance to the album, enhancing its emotional depth and soulful energy. The album closes with the mellow outro “In This Together,” another title that shows the mindframe and ethic behind Mother Tongue in all its endeavours. This collective spirit is further reflected in the contributions of Italian talents Edoardo della Bitta and Alberto Lincetto, whose musical artistry added a vital dimension to the album’s rich and soulful sound.
