Pearl Abyss, in collaboration with Black Screen Records, is announcing the release of a special vinyl album set, commemorating the 10th anniversary of its flagship MMORPG, Black Desert. The 3xLP collection celebrates a decade of the game's rich musical legacy, marking a milestone in the globally successful Black Desert IP. Music has been a core pillar of Black Desert's immersive experience since its inception. The anniversary vinyl set pays tribute to that legacy, offering fans an opportunity to revisit their in-game memories through the iconic compositions that have accompanied them on their adventures. Buh Records presents "El tiempo quiere cantar" ("Time Wants to Sing") the debut album by Pacha Wakay Munan, a duo formed by Peruvian musicians and researchers Dimitri Manga Chávez and Ricardo López Alcas. This album explores the sonic possibilities of pre-Hispanic instruments in a contemporary musical context. Through their performance, they explore their tonal possibilities, the interaction between their frequencies, and their ability to generate new dialogues. The work of Pacha Wakay Munan aligns with the tradition of sound explorers such as the Peruvians Arturo Ruiz del Pozo and Luis David Aguilar or the Colombians Yaki Kandru. The album's repertoire consists of pieces that explore diverse sonorities and musical concepts. "Pacha Wakay Munanqa" introduces the timbral variety of the instruments used. "El Taki Onkoy" draws inspiration from historical accounts and the meaning of its name ("Sick Song"), based on a Culina chant documented by Rodolfo Holzmann. It features vocals by the experienced singer Ximena Menéndez. "Mundo Posible" is a reinterpretation of an improvisation session with musicologist Chalena Vásquez Rodríguez, where the piano dialogues with ceramic antaras. Other pieces delve into the sonic construction of these instruments in relation to their cultural contexts. "Machu Tara" explores the concept of tara, a rough and vibrant sound quality found in certain Andean musical traditions. "Túpac Huaca" references the Huaca Aliaga in Lima, creating a sound palette where pututos, whistling vessels, and quenas converge. "Agua, Cuarzo y Viento" introduces quartz sikus and bowls tuned to different frequencies, evoking the interaction between natural elements and resonant vibrations. In the piece "Qinray Tema", Camilo Angeles plays the metal transverse flute, creating a contrast with the pre-Hispanic ceramic flutes and pelican bone flutes.

With Vermilion Hours, Melaine Dalibert offers a condensed rereading of his Musique pour le lever du jour, still exploring minimal variations and subtle piano resonances. This new version, enriched by David Sylvian's discreet electronic textures, retains the atmospheric magic of the original while offering a new density. Sylvian, best known as the singer of Japan, is also an important figure in ambient music, collaborating with Czukay, Hassell and Sakamoto. Their collaboration, born of a sincere artistic affinity, acts here as a transmission between generations. The two tracks on the album - Musique pour le lever du jour and Arabesque - evoke a soundscape where each note is reflected and diffracted infinitely. The electronic work acts like a halo, a vibrant aura. Dalibert speaks of a desire to humanize his theoretical processes, to touch through the organic. Like a Klee painting, each stratum of sound builds depth. This is, indeed, "landscape music," where, if you listen closely, you might hear birds singing in the background. And that is the true essence of these suspended harmonies, these vermilion hours-which transport us, as only the contemplation of nature can, into another space-time, a sonic bath that is also a renewal of the senses. Since his career with Japan began in 1974, David Sylvian has explored a wide range of musical territories, collaborating with the likes of Robert Fripp, Jon Hassell, Readymade FC and Ryuichi Sakamoto - venturing as far as ambient music, which he further develops here in tandem with Melaine Dalibert. While continuing to teach at the Rennes Conservatoire, Melaine Dalibert regularly releases albums on various labels and performs both his own works and those of other composers - most recently, a reworking of Keith Jarrett's Köln Concert. He also co-curates the Autres Mesures festival. The two pieces forming Vermilion Hours feel like transcending the generations. Between Melaine Dalibert (born in 1979) and David Sylvian (1958) lies the same generational gap as between Sylvian and Czukay (1938-2017) or Hassell (1937-2021). The CD versions adds two edit versions of both long tracks.

MOVE TRAX, label forged from Tokyo's event series MOVE ムーブ that since 2022 has consistently showcased in Asia pivotal figures in electronic music scene such as Alex Neri, Fantastic Man, Massimiliano Pagliara, Liquid Earth, Chloé Caillet, Bradley Zero, Secretsundaze, Giammarco Orsini, Gonno, Known Artist, proudly unveils its inaugural release: TOKYO LIPSTICK. This sonic odyssey is crafted by the label's Italian-born, Tokyo-resident founder, Al Jones, who masterfully synthesizes the sun-drenched euphoria of '90s Mediterranean sounds with the kaleidoscopic dynamism of his Japanese sojourn. From the futuristic synthscapes reminiscent of classic video games to the pulsating vocal tapestry of Shibuya Scramble Crossing, the world's most vibrant intersection, Al Jones distills disparate influences into a cohesive and compelling narrative. Supporting this seminal debut are remixes from Berlin-based UK artist Running Hot, renowned for his distinctive contributions to esteemed labels such as Love On The Rocks (LOTR), Certain Music Records, and Permanent Vacation. Complementing this, rising Japanese talent Paperkraft, hailing from Osaka, brings a fresh perspective, building significant momentum from the Land of the Rising Sun with releases on Physical Education and HOMAGE Records with his tracks remixed by Aldonna and Aiden Francis.

French producer Saint Paul was raised in Lyon with Ivorian and French heritage and is now based in Reunion Island. He was a founding member of Moonrise Hill Material and continues to refine his style, which is infused with jazz, funk, hip hop and African rhythms. Though built for the dancefloor, it comes rich in introspection that marries energy and soul. This six-track EP on GLBDOM takes in the horn-laced New York house vibes of 'I'm Ur DJ', swinging MAW-esque kicks of 'We Can All Groove With It' and jazz-laced depths of 'Extreme Vibration'. It's an EP full of class and character with the late-night lounge sophistication of 'Elixir De Bons Souvenirs', another highlight.

"Enter The Dragon" is a tune I've been playing for a few years that people have been messaging me about non-stop, asking for track IDs, release information & up until now, there was no real likelihood of it coming out since it had been forthcoming on a release scheduled for Lucky Muffin Records (a Green Bay Wax sublabel), which had been on the cards for a long time, but there was no sign of any imminent plan for release.

That was until Percussive P sent me a new tune he'd done recently called "Vibrating Harmony", which I really liked & wanted to put out on the label. This reminded me of "Enter The Dragon" which was still not out by that point, so I approached Kid Lib to ask if he'd be up for letting me release "Enter The Dragon" with "Vibrating Harmony" on Future Retro London. Reluctantly, he did & here we are...

Big thanks to Percussive P on his excellent work on both tunes, to Kid Lib for allowing me to put out "Enter The Dragon" on Future Retro London and to all the people over the years who were curious what this tune was when they heard it on my Mixmag live set, my Resident Advisor podcast & wherever else me or other DJs that had the tune were playing it at.

Roberta returns to her own Night Moves label with her most accomplished work to date on NMR012. After a string of recent underground hits on prominent labels like NDATL, Worldship Music, and Innermoods, it is easy to wonder where she would go next. With all that cachet built up, a return to her roots with increased confidence has paid off in this exquisite and refined record.

"Your Touch" kicks off with Roberta's signature dusty drum sound before sultry vocals and electric piano drop in, setting a proper atmosphere for dancefloor action. Moody strings along with instrumental solos including one from James Duncan on mute trumpet elevate this track to an even higher level, certain to be big with the best deep and soulful house DJs across the globe.

On the flipside, "All The Things" works with a similar sound palette, but focuses more on harmony. Jazzy Rhodes chords slide over each other into an extremely infectious and memorable pattern, playing off the bumping and melodic bassline. The vibraphone solos are the cherry on top of what would be an A1 killer on any other record. Here it has to settle for being an unreasonably hot B side jam for the heads.

Dies ist als kühnes Statement des Komponisten und Bandkopfs Toby Driver zu verstehen. Dieser markiert damit sowohl eine Rückkehr, da er jene kompositorischen Praktiken wieder aufgreift, die den Erstling definiert haben, als auch eine Weiterentwicklung, weil Driver gleichzeitig in unbekanntes Terrain vorstößt. Unter Ablehnung traditioneller Rock-Strukturen und der eher vorhersehbaren Konturen des Metal formt "Every Rock, Every Half-Truth under Reason" einen Sound, der sich gleichzeitig vertraut und fremd anfühlt, in dem eigens entworfenen mikrotonale Orgeln und Gitarren den Versuch unternehmen, die unmögliche Spannung zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft aufzulösen. Das Werk entfernt sich von der typischen Betonung der tiefen Frequenzen und schwebt stattdessen im oberen Spektrum, wo die Texturen zerbrechlicher und intimer, aber auch rauer und erschreckender werden. Auf diesem Album werden KAYO DOT auch von dem Geist einer kommenden Zukunft heimgesucht: dem Gespenst einer KI-generierten Kreativität. Die zunehmende Präsenz von künstlichen Kompositionen, prädiktiver Modellierung und algorithmischer Ästhetik wirft bereits einen langen Schatten auf die künstlerische Kreativarbeit. Dies veranlasste Driver dazu, auf eine Art und Weise zu komponieren, die sich Vorhersagen widersetzt, und eine Musik zu erschaffen, die sich der Mustererkennung entzieht. Ein großer Teil von "Every Rock, Every Half-Truth under Reason" ist dem Versuch geschuldet, gegen den Strich der Lesbarkeit zu bürsten und etwas zu erschaffen, das sich dem Zugriff von Vorhersagesystemen entzieht. Nach der Auflösung der beliebten Band MAUDLIN OF THE WELL gründete Toby Driver im Jahr 2003 das Avantgarde-Musikprojekt KAYO DOT als neues Vehikel für seine sprudelnde Kreativität. London-based deep house duo Saison debut on NYC’s Nu Groove, with their four-track ‘Return 2 Jak EP’ now on wax. A captivating deep cut from the golden age of Italian library music, Il Ponte Dell’Asia stands as one of Piero Umiliani’s most evocative and exotic soundscapes. Originally released in 1967 as a private pressing for Italian the TV documentary by Corrado Sofia, this elusive gem blends Far Eastern motifs with the elegance of mid-century European jazz and the textured experimentation that defines Umiliani’s best work.

On Il Ponte Dell’Asia, Umiliani constructs a cinematic bridge between continents, layering modal melodies, sinuous flutes, shimmering vibraphones, and richly orchestrated strings over hypnotic rhythms and subtly psychedelic touches. The result is a masterful fusion of East-meets-West that channels both travelogue fantasy and avant-garde sophistication — a rare synthesis of traditional instrumentation and modernist sensibility.

Exported from the original tapes, pressed on high-quality vinyl and with faithfully restored artwork, this reissue offers a long-overdue return to one of Umiliani’s most immersive sonic journeys, an essential for fans of Italian library music, film scores, and genre-defying jazz.

Hamburg-born composer, pianist and producer Niklas Paschburg announces his latest project, 'Mexican Alps' EP due for release on July 11th. 'La Hormiga' is a rhythmic exploration of life in motion. Pulsing beats and textured synths create forward momentum, echoing the journey through the winding paths of Oaxaca's mountainous surroundings, where tradition and nature intertwine. 'Mexican Alps' combines inspirations gathered from the picturesque mountains of southern Mexico and the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps. The EP is a mesmerizing journey through those landscapes; drawing inspiration from nature's grandeur and the vibrancy of Día de los Muertos, Niklas blends electronic textures, atmospheric samples, and innovative instrumentation to create a soundscape that is both grounding and transcendent. Without relying on his signature piano, this EP explores new creative territories, evoking deep emotional resonance and moments of introspection. -- If his first album, 'Oceanic '(2018), was conceived as an ode to the Baltic Sea, for his next release, 'Svalbard' (2020), produced with Andy Barlow of Lamb, the Hamburg-born musician, now a Berliner by adoption, sought refuge on an island in the Arctic Ocean, surrounded by snow, ice, darkness and breathtaking landscapes. This time, however, the setting is completely different. "It all started with an invitation to play at a festival in Oaxaca," Niklas says. "Since I had never been to Latin America, I began considering how to take advantage of the opportunity to stay for a while and write something there. I started looking for houses, but I quickly realized it was almost impossible to find one with a piano—it's not a common instrument in Mexican culture. I thought, why not try immersing myself in a writing process that doesn't involve one? I was so excited about the idea that I jumped in." 'Mexican Alps' is the result of a challenge in which Paschburg harnessed his collection of synths and effects to create an ambient-electronic record. On the one hand, an evolution of the work primarily carried out in 'Svalbard' and 'Panta Rhei'; on the other hand, an episode in its own right, distinct from its predecessors due to the absence of the piano and the greater role played by improvisation, by coincidence, it became his first work created without his signature instrument. "Not having the opportunity to write chords, harmonies, and everything else on the piano, I improvised more, focusing on the sound. This was the approach I used to record demos in Mexico, which I then brought with me to Switzerland, where I carried on working on the EP. In addition to my usual setup (the OB-6 by Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim and the OP-1 by Teenage Engineering, plus my ever-beloved Hohner accordion, inherited from my grandfather), I was also guided by the purchase of a new Moog Matriarch with a unique delay. All this helped me build the sound I had in mind: a spacious, abstract, 3D sound that is definitely immersive." He expands. It is an emotional landscape that translates into music. In some of the tracks, Paschburg has also included field recordings collected during the Día de los Muertos, a deeply felt Mexican holiday: "A great celebration, a colorful parade of skeletons, skulls, flowers, and decorated altars, so engaging and intoxicating that I felt compelled to use its sounds in my music." It was precisely from this blend of influences that the fourth track, "Oaxaca de Juárez", emerged—a single characterized by a catchy funk procession and enhanced by the guitar work of Tal Arditi, a rising European jazz artist and singer-songwriter based between Basel and Berlin. 'Mexican Alps' is his new calling card, featuring an enveloping sound crafted by Paschburg in collaboration with Gijs van Klooster, who mixed the EP in a studio specifically designed for Atmos music. Mastering was handled by Bo Kondren at Calyx Studio in Berlin.

Stars on 54's "If You Could Read My Mind" is a vibrant transformation of Gordon Lightfoot's introspective ballad into an energetic 90s dance-pop and disco anthem.
