Scottish musician Kay Logan (aka Helena Celle) self-released the prescient collection of oddball aleatoric bangers "Copy Music" in 2021, before pulling it from circulation. With the help of London imprint SWIMS, this cult album is now remastered and available on vinyl for the first time, under the new name "Endless Waltz". This will be the final Helena Celle album.

Raised on a diet of industrial queer pioneers Coil and Throbbing Gristle, occultish physics (John Dee, Aleister Crowley) and Frank Zappa, Kay's work has toyed and probed at the fringes of outsider art and technology for over ten years. Her 2016 album "If I Can't Handle Me At My Best..." established Celle's unique sonic language of unrepeatably gnarled techno, coaxed from a bewildering array of disintegrating midi controllers, Markov chains, and whatever else came to hand.

"Endless Waltz" pursues this formula to its bizarre conclusion: 18 fever loops of algorithmically crumpled dance music, pulled through a cheese cloth of obscure '90s computer game palettes and pop froth wordplay. Some of these delirious vignettes evoke a rudimentary AI regurgitating Captain Beefheart scores. Others, as one fan put it, are "sort of like if 'Commercial Album'-era Residents did an album on Rephlex". Enjoy the trip.

Almost Starlight is the extraordinary new album by Jem Finer (hurdy-gurdy) and John Matthias (violin). Produced by Jay Auborn and recorded in a Medieval Church, deep in the Devon countryside, in the Summer of 2025, the music is suffused with light, heat and the natural acoustics of the space.

The album defies categorisation; forced to pigeon hole it the nearest approximation would be ‘modern-classical’ but this ignores its myriad influences and explorations which encompass inspiration from Arvo Pärt through Terry Riley to Can via Delius, Alice Coltrane and a subtle reimagining of electronic music played purely with acoustic instruments, bending and shaping their possibilities in surprising and unexpected directions.

Jay Auborn plays cello on a number of the compositions and his production opens up and expands the music through a skilled and imaginative use of space, paying homage to the atmosphere of the church; ‘the sound evolved… chasing the imagined acoustics of that church in my mind; a place for worshipping light with sound.’

Almost Starlight will be released on the 4th September by Touch, available as CD, vinyl, cassette and on streaming platforms.

Jem Finer

Since studying computer science in the 1970s, Jem Finer has worked in various fields, including photography, film, experimental and popular music, sound recording, sculpture and installation.

Much of his work relates to systems, extended processes and extremes of scale and includes Longplayer, a musical composition repeating once every 1000 years, and the Gurdy and Hurdy stones, ancient rocks set upright in fields in East Sussex and Gloucestershire with Jimmy Cauty. Their work together includes a band, The Standing Stones, whose most recent release is Twa Sisters, featuring Iona Zajac and Daragh Lynch.

He was a founder member of The Pogues, with whom he has played, written and recorded since 1981.

Recent music revolves around a fascination with the hurdy-gurdy and includes hrdy-grdy, a cassette released by Benedict Drew’s Thanet Tape Centre. His latest collaboration, with John Matthias, Almost Starlight, will be released by Touch in September 2026.

John Matthias

Since studying Theoretical Physics in the late 1980s and 1990s, John has created music and sound in many forms, including for installation, popular music, music for film, for dance and orchestra.

Much of John’s work plays with the physics of complex systems but he is also greatly influenced by stories and song. John has collaborated with Matthew Herbert, Stanley Donwood, Jay Auborn, Radiohead, Thom Yorke, Nick Ryan and many others to create music with a variety of textures and sonorities. He is particularly interested in simplicity and form and how context informs the way music sounds.

His latest collaboration, with Jem Finer, Almost Starlight, will be released by Touch in September 2026.

Erstmals stellt sie auf einem Album eine groß angelegte Originalkomposition ins Zentrum. Ihre neun Sätze umfassende Suite für Violine und Orchester ist eine ausdrucksstarke Auseinandersetzung mit der Liebe in all ihren Facetten und fängt das gesamte Spektrum der Emotionen ein - von Zärtlichkeit und Leidenschaft bis hin zu Sehnsucht und Verlust. Über die Suite hinaus versammelt "Amour" eine vielfältige Auswahl ikonischer klassischer Werke rund um das Thema Liebe, die von Esther Abrami neu für Solo-Violine und Orchester arrangiert wurden. Ein besonderes Highlight ist Nino Rotas "Romeo and Juliet: Love Theme", mit der gefeierten Mezzosopranistin Marina Viotti. Ihre Stimme tritt dabei in einen musikalischen Dialog mit Esther Abramis Violine. Das Programm umfasst weiterhin Instrumentalarrangements von Céline Dions "All by Myself" sowie Georges Bizets "Habanera" aus "Carmen", wie auch neue Versionen für Violine und Orchester von Francis Poulencs "Les chemins de l'amour", Christoph Willibald Glucks "Tanz der seligen Geister" aus "Orfeo ed Euridice" und der virtuosen "Chaconne in g-Moll" von Tomaso Antonio Vitali. Auch eine neu arrangierte Version von Charlie Chaplins "Désillusion amoureuse" aus seinem Film "The Circus" ist auf dem Album enthalten. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere hat sich Esther Abrami einen Namen damit gemacht, klassische Musik einem breiten und vielfältigen Publikum vorzustellen. Mit "Amour" verbindet sie erstmals ihre unverwechselbare Stimme als Interpretin mit ihrem Schaffen als Komponistin. Das Album erscheint als CD sowie als Doppel-LP in einer limitierten Ecorecord InkPlosion Version, bei der jede LP individuell gestaltet ist. Die Doppel-LP enthält außerdem 3 Bonus-Tracks, die bisher nur digital erschienen sind.

Nur wenige Bands der Heavy-Metal-Szene haben im vergangenen Jahr einen ähnlich kometenhaften Aufstieg erlebt wie ORBIT CULTURE. Das Album "Death Above Life" des schwedischen Quartetts ist nicht nur ein Beweis dafür, wie weit die Band gekommen ist, sondern es ist der Sound von Metal in seiner modernsten Form. Der moderne Folk-Klassiker von 2020. Mit Elisabeth lieferte Zach Bryan den Beweis seines einzigartigen Songwriting-Talents. Cameron Winter kündigt sein erstes Live-Album "Live at Carnegie Hall" an. Das Album dokumentiert Winters historischen Auftritt im Dezember 2025, bei dem er als einer der jüngsten Solokünstler überhaupt als Headliner im Hauptsaal der legendären Konzerthalle auftrat. Ganz allein, über sein Klavier gebeugt und mit dem Rücken zu einem ehrfürchtigen, ausverkauften Publikum, interpretierte der Frontmann der Band "Geese" Songs aus seinem gefeierten Debütalbum "Heavy Metal" neu. Ein Album, das von GQ in ihrem ausführlichen Bericht über diesen Abend in der Carnegie Hall als "eine der kühnsten und selbstbewusstesten Singer-Songwriter-Platten dieses Jahrhunderts bisher, ein Fiebertraum voller Gefühle von jemandem, der die Regeln gut genug verstand, um zu wissen, dass sie ihm kaum etwas bedeuteten" beschrieben wurde.

Auf dieser berühmten Bühne präsentierte er zudem drei bisher unveröffentlichte Kompositionen, von denen jede einen Einblick in seinen Fundus an Material bot. Die gesamte Darbietung war von einem unbestreitbaren Gefühl der Einmaligkeit geprägt, das die Bedeutung des Augenblicks einfing: Zeuge zu sein, wie ein Künstler, wie er nur einmal in einer Generation vorkommt, die Bühne eines der ehrwürdigsten Veranstaltungsorte der amerikanischen Musikszene beherrscht.

»Moondram Sevi«, ein Album, das vertraut und gleichzeitig aufregend anders klingt: Dub und Disco-Diaspora treffen auf Kollywood-Soundtracks, Balearic-Sound, Neo-Library-Music, Psychedelic, Prog und krautige Grooves. Sahana Naresh singt auf drei Songs, darunter »Pambu Mookan Uncle« und »Sa Re Ga Ma Pa«. In all seiner kaleidoskopischen Bildkraft und rauschhaften Fabulierfreudigkeit hat »Moondram Sevi« etwas Cineastisches – und auch das für Keshavara typische babylonische Sprachgewirr aus Deutsch, English, Tamil & Gibberish regiert wieder.
Bei Keshavara versteht sich die Sprache als Musik, während die Musik sich als Sprache versteht. Und mag diese Musik auch noch so filmisch daherkommen, so bleibt sie doch immer tanzbar: »Moondram Sevi« (Tamil für »das dritte Ohr«) ist Kopfkino für die Füße.

CODE, das kommerziell erfolgreichste Album der elektronischen Pioniere Cabaret Voltaire aus Sheffield, ist endlich wieder erhältlich – nach jahrelanger Vergriffenheit.
Das ursprünglich 1987 veröffentlichte achte Studioalbum der Band wurde von den Originalbändern durch Denis Blackham neu remastert, der seit über 20 Jahren sämtliche Alben von Cabaret Voltaire gemastert oder remastert hat. Die Neuauflage erscheint bei Mute und präsentiert das originale Artwork in restaurierter Form.
Gemeinsam produziert mit Dub-Ikone Adrian Sherwood, markiert CODE einen mutigen Schritt in Richtung Synth-Pop und mechanischem Funk. Es war das letzte Album von Cabaret Voltaire, das mit einem großen Produktionsbudget entstand und dabei dennoch kompromisslos glaubwürdig blieb. Mit den Singles „Don't Argue“ und „Here to Go“, die beide Charterfolge feierten, zählt es zu den Höhepunkten im Schaffen der Band.
Der Albumtitel verweist auf ein Thema, das damals von großer Aktualität war und heute relevanter denn je erscheint: die zunehmende Durchdringung des menschlichen Lebens durch Technologie, Computer und Programmierung. Für Cabaret Voltaire stand CODE dabei sinnbildlich für Kontrolle – nicht nur im kreativen Prozess des Musikmachens, sondern auch im Hinblick auf gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Machtstrukturen vor dem Hintergrund einer Ära des Überflusses.
Aufgenommen wurde das Album im bandeigenen Western Works Studio in Sheffield. Adrian Sherwood war bereits in der Vorproduktion beteiligt, bevor die Aufnahmen für den Mix in die Red Bus Studios nach London verlegt wurden. CODE dokumentiert eine Band auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer kreativen und kommerziellen Schaffenskraft.
Diese Wiederveröffentlichung wurde 2019 gemeinsam mit Richard H. Kirk begonnen. Nach seinem viel zu frühen Tod wurde das Projekt anhand seiner Notizen und in enger Abstimmung mit Stephen Malinder sowie dem Nachlass von Richard H. Kirk vollendet – eine würdige Hommage an sein außergewöhnliches Vermächtnis.

1986 veröffentlichten Bassist Ron Royce (Ron Broder), Gitarrist Tommy T. Baron (Tommy Vetterli) und Schlagzeuger Marquis Marky (Markus Edelmann) ihr erstes Demotape »Death Cult« mit Hilfe von Celtic Frosts Tom Gabriel Fischer am Gesang (Fischer war auch für die Texte verantwortlich).
Kurz darauf, Anfang 1987, unterschrieben Zürichs Avantgarde-Metal-Pioniere einen Vertrag mit Noise Records aus Berlin. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatte sich Bassist Ron Royce entschieden, selbst die Rolle des Leadsängers von Coroner zu übernehmen.
Schließlich buchte Karl-Ulrich Walterbach von Noise Records für Coroner Studiozeit im Berliner Music Lab Studio, damit sie ihr Debütalbum unter den wachsamen Augen von Harris Johns aufnehmen konnten. »R.I.P.« wurde im Juni 1987 veröffentlicht und erhielt ausgesprochen positives Feedback in der Presse.

1988 folgte auf Coroners Debütalbum »Punishment For Decadence« (diesmal produziert im Sky Trak Studio in Berlin, produziert von Guy Bidmead). Laut Gitarrist Tommy Vetterli war das eine natürliche Weiterentwicklung für die Band: „Wir haben uns mehr auf die Tiefe der Musik konzentriert, es war nicht mehr nur eine Demonstration unserer technischen Fähigkeiten. Die Band war ziemlich tight, definitiv tighter als auf unserem ersten Album. Insgesamt denke ich, dass die Platte etwas reifer ist. Es ging weniger darum zu zeigen: ‚Schaut her, wie gut wir spielen können‘, sondern der Fokus lag auf den Songs.“
Der herausragende Track auf dem Album ist „Masked Jackal“, ein Fanliebling bis zum heutigen Tage. Außerdem wurde ein Musikvideo zu dem Song gedreht, wie der Gitarrist erklärt: „Es ist das Stück, das auf dem Album heraussticht. MTV war damals für jede Band extrem wichtig. Deshalb ist ‚Masked Jackal‘ bis heute ein Favorit der Fans.“

»Punishment For Decadence« kam mit einem auffälligen Cover-Artwork daher (ein Gemälde mit dem Titel „Porte de L'enfer“), eine Idee von Schlagzeuger Marky: „Er kletterte mitten in der Nacht eine Leiter hinauf und fotografierte hier in Zürich das Artwork von Rodin. Das Plattenlabel fand jedoch, dass dieses Cover nicht ‚Heavy Metal‘ genug sei, also veröffentlichten sie für die zweite Pressung ein anderes Cover mit diesem Skelett, das Geige spielt. Jenes Motiv war eigentlich nur als T-Shirt-Design gedacht.“

Laut Tommy lief das Album in Sachen Verkaufszahlen ordentlich: „Anscheinend müssen die Verkaufszahlen befriedigend gewesen sein; sonst hätten wir wahrscheinlich nicht weitermachen können. Wir haben nicht viel Geld mit Coroner verdient, aber das Ganze hat viel Spaß gemacht. Wir konnten überleben und das tun, was wir lieben. Die Presse und andere Musiker mochten uns, aber wir erreichten niemals die breite Masse.“
Im Februar 2026 von Patrick W. Engel bei TEMPLE OF DISHARMONY remastert und restauriert. Die Schneidearbeiten wurden von SST Germany auf Neumann-Geräten durchgeführt, um in jeder Hinsicht optimale Qualität zu gewährleisten. Die ultimative audiophile Ausgabe dieses zeitlosen Klassikers!

Nach dem durchschlagenden Erfolg ihres selbstbetitelten Debüts legt „Rise and Shine“ die Messlatte noch höher – mit prägnanterem Songwriting, furchtloser Musikalität und jenem Feuerwerk auf den sechs Saiten, das zum Markenzeichen der Band geworden ist. Es ist ein Album, das die Tradition des Lone Star ehrt, ohne sich von ihr einengen zu lassen. Insgesamt haben sie sich zu einer der spannendsten Gitarrenbands entwickelt, die Texas seit Jahren hervorgebracht hat. "Burning Down Paradise", das sechste Studioalbum der NWOBHM-Legende Tokyo Blade, erblickte ursprünglich im Jahre 1995 über Fresh Fruit das Licht der Welt. Fresh Fruit war ein Sublabel von SPV in Hannover. High Roller Records legt »Burning Down Paradise« jetzt zum allerersten Mal als Vinyl auf.
Die Platte markierte die Wiedervereinigung von Gitarrist Andy Boulton und Sänger Alan Marsh, die das erste Mal seit dem Debütalbum von Tokyo Blade im Jahre 1983 wieder gemeinsame Sache machten. Die damalige Besetzung wurde komplettiert von John Wiggins an der zweiten Gitarre, Colin Riggs am Bass und Marc Angel hinterm Schlagzeug.
„Ich denke, alle zwölf Songs haben den Test der Zeit gut überstanden“, kommentiert Gitarrist und Gründungsmitglied Andy Boulton heute. „Allerdings war es eine schwierige Zeit für Hardrock und Heavy Metal. Der musikalische Geschmack hatte sich drastisch verändert. Das Album wurde in einem kleinen Studio direkt außerhalb von Marlborough in Wiltshire aufgenommen. Zusammen mit einem Tontechniker namens Nick Beer. Ich nehme an, man könnte sagen, dass die ganze Band »Burning Down Paradise« produziert hat. Als Hauptsongwriter hatten Alan und ich am Ende aber wohl den größten Einfluss auf den Sound der Platte.“
Laut Aussage des Gitarristen erntete das Album zum Erscheinungszeitpunkt unterschiedliche Reaktionen: „Die Meinungen gingen auseinander, einige alte Fans mochten unsere neue Richtung nicht, während andere positiver eingestellt waren. Und was die Kritiker an sich betrifft, auf die höre ich eh nicht. Meine Einstellung ist: Wenn dir die Musik nicht gefällt, hör sie dir einfach nicht an.“
Nach der Veröffentlichung von "Burning Down Paradise" gingen Andy Boulton und Alan Marsh abermals getrennte Wege. Tokyo Blade lösten sich (zwischenzeitlich) auf: „Wir hatten die Schnauze voll, ohne Unterstützung von irgendwoher weiterzumachen. Es war eine schlechte Zeit für unsere Art von Musik, und wir sahen keinen Sinn darin, die Band weiterhin am Leben zu halten und unsere Kraft zu vergeuden.“

Sie erlangten unter Fans der New Wave Of British Heavy Metal durch ihre Single »Storm Child« von 1982 Ruhm, der drei Jahre später das vielbeachtete Album »The Prophet« folgen sollte, obwohl die Band zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits eine Namensänderung durchlaufen hatte und nun als Omega bekannt war.
Spulen wir über vierzig Jahre vor. Apocalypse sind mit einem neuen Album zurück, »Last Man Standing«. Das aktuelle Werk knüpft nahtlos an »Abandon Hope an«, das 2010 von High Roller Records veröffentlicht wurde. Mittlerweile hat Gitarrist und Sänger Steve Grainger, der nach dem Tod sowohl seines Bruders Marc (ehemaliger Schlagzeuger der Band) und des Bassisten Dave Robertson tatsächlich als „letzter Mann übriggeblieben ist“, die Gruppe in Apocalypse NWOBHM umbenannt.
»Last Man Standing« kombiniert neues Material, das Steve geschrieben hat, mit älteren Songs, die in ihrer ursprünglichen Form aus der Vorgängerband Phaze stammen (die er und sein Bruder betrieben). Die Atmosphäre und der Drive von Apocalypse sind geblieben. Mit Beiträgen von Marc und Dave sowie textlichen Anspielungen auf einige frühere Stücke der Band ist »Last Man Standing« der neueste Teil der Apocalypse-Saga und in dieser Form definitiv eine würdige Ergänzung des Bandkatalogs.

Für das Album arbeitet die in London lebende, australischstämmige Produzentin, Songwriterin und DJ mit neuen Kollaborateur:innen wie Echonomist, Skybreak und Cantoalegre (einem Kinderchor aus Medellín, Kolumbien) zusammen. Es war ein Coup, als Gründer und Bassist Lee Payne vor drei Jahren ankündigte, dass Harry „The Tyrant“ Conklin, der nach Griechenland gezogen war, seiner Band Cloven Hoof beitreten würde. Daher waren die Reaktionen auf das erste Album der Band mit Harry Conklin am Mikrofon herausragend. »Heathen Cross« wurde 2024 bei High Roller Records veröffentlicht.
Nun folgt Cloven Hoofs zehntes Studioalbum mit dem Titel »Never A Prophet In Your Own Land«. Wieder einmal ist die Gesangsleistung vom „Tyrant“ absolute Weltklasse. Lee Payne grinst: „Das Lob gebührt einzig und allein Harry. Wir können uns glücklich schätzen, einen so brillanten Sänger und Frontmann in der Band zu haben.“
Kontinuität ist für jede Band wichtig, und Cloven Hoof hatten in der Vergangenheit mehr als einen Besetzungswechsel zu verzeichnen. Diesmal nicht, wie der Bassist nicht ohne Stolz erklärt: „Wir haben dieselbe feste Besetzung wie auf »Heathen Cross«, das kann ich mit Freude sagen. Am Gesang der einzig wahre Harry Conklin und an den Gitarren Luke Hatton sowie Chris Coss. Dazu Ash Baker am Schlagzeug. Luke, Chris und Ash sind nun seit über zehn Jahren bei Cloven Hoof; sie kennen ihre Rollen in- und auswendig. Ich selbst bin seit 1979 in der Band, also sollte ich inzwischen eine Vorstellung davon haben, was ich mache (lacht).“
„»Never A Prophet In Your Own Land« ist keine direkte Fortsetzung von »Heathen Cross«“, fährt Payne fort. „»Heathen Cross« hatte seine eigene schwere und düstere Atmosphäre. »Never A Prophet In Your Own Land« ähnelt eher »A Sultan‘s Ransom«, doch diese Ähnlichkeit war weder konstruiert noch geplant. Es ist einfach so gekommen.“

World Of Echo are proud to announce the long-awaited reissue of the self-titled debut album by Bristol’s Movietone. Originally released in 1995 by Planet Records and reissued on CD in 2003 by The Pastels’ Geographic Music imprint, this is the first time Movietone has been reissued on vinyl. An expanded double-LP edition, it includes the extra tracks from the 2003 CD (their first two singles, and an unreleased demo of “Chance Is Her Opera”), and adds three more unearthed gems: demos of “Alkaline Eye” and “She Smiled Mandarine Like”, and an early take of “Late July”, recorded in a garden by Dave Pearce (Flying Saucer Attack) in 1993.

Taken together, this is the definitive collection of music from the first phase of one of Bristol’s most remarkable groups. Movietone was the cumulation of a series of events, explorations, and discoveries, starting at secondary school – the group’s core membership of Kate Wright, Rachel Brook, Matt Elliott and Matt Jones met at Cotham School in Bristol. As for many other groups, their early years were all about experimenting, and finding ways to ‘make do’, a DIY sensibility that would inform Movietone through their decade-long lifespan. From formative rehearsals in a shed in the garden of Brook’s family home, to recording early material to four-track in Redland Library, and on into the Whitehouse and Mr Grin’s studio sessions for their debut album, Movietone’s music fell together in a creatively unpredictable, yet conceptually rigorous manner.

By the time they released Movietone, they’d found a home with Bristol’s Planet, run by author Richard King and James Webster, who had both released their first two singles, “She Smiled Mandarine Like” and “Mono Valley”. There was other music happening around them in Bristol, too, from the Jones brothers’ avant-rock outfit Crescent (who were Movietone’s closest conspirators), through Elliott’s jungle/electronica project Third Eye Foundation, and Brook and Elliott’s membership of Flying Saucer Attack. A closely knit community, Movietone are the centre of this nestling architecture of groups. The vision in the music, mostly, belongs to Wright, but Movietone ran in democratic creative consort. Listening back to Movietone, you can hear this democracy in action through the wildness of the music, which is balanced by the poetics of Wright’s lyrics and melodies.

Full of half-captured memories and entangled abstractions, there’s an elliptical, ruminative quality to much of the writing here that shows the deep influence of the Beat Generation writers, along with a twilight environment captured in the songs that’s pure third-album Velvets, Galaxie 500, early Tindersticks, Codeine. Unpredictable interventions – the crashing glass in “Mono Valley”, the sudden explosions of “Orange Zero” point towards the noise blowouts of My Bloody Valentine, the unpredictability of Sonic Youth; Wright’s understated vocal cadence suggest a deep, embodied understanding of John Cage’s Indeterminacy.

Movietone would go on to make 3 fantastic albums for Domino: Night & Day (1997), The Blossom Filled Streets (2000) and The Sand & The Stars (2003) and their Peel Sessions were released earlier this year on Textile. Still held in high regard by artists like Steven R. Smith, and The Pastels, whose Stephen McRobbie once described them as “one of the great unknown English groups,” it’s an absolute thrill to listen to Movietone anew – still inspired, still seductive, still magic, still mysterious.

For years Funky Super Fly has been a funk aficionado favourite. It’s a sensational set of recordings from vocalist and bandleader Bobby Williams, with plenty of cherished raw-funk heaters in the mix. ‘Funky Superfly’, ‘Soul Brother Party’, and ‘Let’s Jam’, are three standouts that have all the ingredients to ignite even the most subdued of dancefloors. The unprocessed natural energy in these songs speaks to your very soul – Bobby grooving over his captivating funk-fuelled band with dynamism and class. Monolink and CIOZ bring a stripped-back electronic edge to Crosstown Rebels with ‘Don’t Talk To Me’. The German multi-instrumentalist makes his Crosstown Rebels debut alongside Italy’s CIOZ, with OMRI. also returning to the label on remix duties. There are few artists in electronic music quite like Monolink. Moving naturally between singer-songwriter, producer and live performer, his music gives as much weight to voice, melody and narrative as it does to electronic production. For ‘Don’t Talk To Me’, he joins Bergamo-born, Berlin-based CIOZ, whose own work is driven by rich musicality and a willingness to move beyond convention. The link-up makes for an intriguing signing to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels, bringing together two different approaches to electronic music without either losing their identity.

‘Don’t Talk To Me’ is deliberately pared back, pairing Monolink’s voice and songwriting with sparse textures and gently shifting melodies. Rather than building towards a conventional dancefloor payoff, the track unfolds with a quieter sense of tension, sitting somewhere between alternative songwriting and electronic voyage. An artist whose productions and remixes have quickly made him a recurring presence in the Crosstown Rebels universe, OMRI. takes the track deeper with his remix, adding darker, hypnotic qualities while preserving the original’s restraint. ‘Wasting Time’ closes the release with another sweeping collaboration, built around subtle melodic details and captivating synth flourishes.

The collaboration marks Monolink’s first outing on Crosstown, adding to an impressive career that has seen him craft his distinctive sound via Berlin-based imprint Embassy One and on labels like Cercle Records. Performances have taken that music from Burning Man and Montreux Jazz Festival to Day Zero Bali, where he joined Damian Lazarus for its first edition, as well as sets alongside Lazarus at Club Space, Zamna and more around the world. Nach ersten Experimenten mit Gitarre und Keyboard als Teenager gründete Sprague Anfang der 2010er Jahre die Indie-Band Florist und gewann damit ein treues Publikum. Nach einer Reihe gefeierter EPs nahmen Florist fünf Studioalben auf, die sich durch ihre intime Weltgestaltung und durch Spragues gefühlvollen Gesang auszeichnen. Den Soloalben "Hill, Flower, Fog" aus dem Jahr 2020 und "Cloud Time" aus dem Jahr 2025 - einem Album mit modularen Synthesizern, das live in Japan aufgenommen wurde - nachfolgend, ist "Cyano" ist ihr erstes Soloalbum, das Spragues intuitive Synthesizer-Musik mit dem Songwriting verbindet, für das sie mit ihrer Band Florist bekannt ist, und führt Gesang in ihr bisher rein instrumentales Schaffen ein. Rare 1980 Detroit funk-soul LP finally surfaces after 45 years, revealing a powerful story of survival and artistic resilience

Edinburgh based label Athens of the North is pleased to announce the reissue of Here I Am Baby, the only studio album by soul and funk vocalist Lady Jane (Jane Brice), originally recorded at Studio A, in Dearborn Heights and privately released in 1980.

Lady Jane recorded these sessions during a turbulent period in Detroit in the late 1970s, working with respected engineer Eric Morgeson and a studio band on material largely written by her then-husband. The album remained virtually unknown for decades, with copies destroyed in a flood and masters held by her ex-husband. A chance discovery by Friends of Sound Records founder David Haffner in 2022 set the reissue in motion. Remarkably, before his death, Jane’s ex-husband returned the original master tapes to her—yielding not only the complete multitracks for Here I Am Baby, but an entire album’s worth of unreleased material, also coming soon on AOTN.

Here I Am Baby showcases Jane’s extraordinary voice across a compelling blend of soul, funk, and disco, from the opening ballad through heavy funk excursions like “Never Lived In The Ghetto” and “Space Flight.” The album’s final track, “She’s A Star” - the only song Janewrote herself - carries profound personal significance. Recorded without her husband’s knowledge, the song directly addresses her survival of childhood sexual abuse and stands as a moving testament to resilience and self-belief.

Now an ordained minister, Jane Brice has spent decades away from the spotlight. But her voice—at once forceful, delicate, and vulnerable—deserves to be heard.
