Seit fünfzehn Jahren ist Marilies Jagsch ein fester Bestandteil der Wiener Musikszene. Im Jahr 2008 veröffentlichte sie ihr Debüt "Obituary for a Lost Mind" und 2010 das Album "From Ice to Water to Nothing" auf dem von Clara Luzia gegründeten Label Asinella Records. Abseits ihres Soloprojekts arbeitete sie mit der Elektropop-Ikone Bernhard Fleischmann zusammen und wurde zu Gastauftritten u.a. bei A Life, A Song, A Cigarette, Love & Fist, Alien Hand Syndrome oder Wolfgang Frisch (Sofa Surfers) eingeladen. Derzeit spielt der Künstler in der Band Vienna Rest in Peace und arbeitet mit der in Seattle ansässigen Performance-Gruppe Saint Genet zusammen. Dreizehn Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung ihres letzten Albums ist es Zeit für einen neuen Namen: MAIIJA. Für ihr aktuelles Projekt haben Marilies Jagsch und Produzent Peter Paul Aufreiter (Hearts Hearts) einige der spannendsten Musiker*innen Wiens eingeladen, um die elf Songs des Albums "I AM" aufzunehmen, das am 15. September 2023 auf Noise Appeal Records erscheinen wird.

Kendra Morris, the Brooklyn-based Artist is back with her fifth LP, entitled I Am What I’m Waiting For, on Colemine/Karma Chief Records. Co-Written and Produced by Torbitt Schwartz (Run The Jewels, Killer Mike, Rubble Kings, Chin Chin), this collection is Kendra’s most personal album to date. It was spring of 2022 and Kendra had just released Nine Lives, her first new album in almost a decade and her first release on Colemine Records. She felt an urgency to get back into the studio, but something felt different this time. Returning to her usual ways, places, and people that she had been creating with felt like dragging herself back to a familiar and comfortable place - but that wasn’t what she was looking for. “I had to step into a new, unknown process because I knew it was the only way that I’d continue to grow,” she explained. She took a small batch of songs to Torbitt’s studio and the two began to write. “He challenged me to find the best version of every lyric,” she shared. “When I listen back, I’m so proud of the time we spent, because every single line is deliberate. I challenged myself to write just to write. No love songs this time around. Torbitt and I wanted to create a record that felt like you cracked open the ooze in my head. There are a lot of layers to me but I only recently through age and experience have fully accepted the weird little nuances that I’m made of. I’m a messy introvert that pretends to be an extrovert so I can feel like I fit in.” From top to bottom, I Am What I’m Waiting For is sincere. It’s a fresh take on a timeless sound, and Kendra exudes power. “My heart has always been in soul music,” she shared. “On this record, you’ll hear my influences and then some. It contains the product of two different sessions. The first date, which is actually the second chronologically, yielded just two tracks. Although, something new for the time, they were long enough to fill up one side of an LP. 5 Stars AllMusic: "The undeniable strength and conviction present in Miles Davis' performance on Walkin', underscores the urgency and passion with which he would rightfully reclaim his status as a primary architect of bop. Davis is supported by his all-stars, consisting of his primary rhythm section: Horace Silver

Although Miles Ahead was Miles Davis' first recording with the Gil Evans Orchestra, it was certainly not Evans and Davis' first collaboration. Gil and Miles' 1948-49 recordings both in the studio and broadcasted live from the Royal Roost in New York are among the true jewels of jazz history. The same can be said about Miles Ahead, a completely refined product in which the arrangements, the repertoire and the mood of every improvisation were carefully selected.

This release presents the very best performances from the legendary 1961 Village Vanguard sets by the Bill Evans Trio. It would be the last recording by this formation of the group, with Scott LaFaro on bass, and Paul Motian on drums, as LaFaro died ten days later in a car crash, on July 6, 1961, at the age of 25. Evans, who loved LaFaro's playing, would take a long hiatus before forming a new trio.

"Wir haben uns schon immer für andere Musik als Gitarrenmusik interessiert", sagt Sänger, Texter und Gitarrist Alasdair MacLean. Diesmal hat er - zusammen mit dem Bassisten James Hornsey und dem Schlagzeuger Mark Keen - Elemente des Post-Bop-Jazz, der zeitgenössischen Klassik und der elektronischen Musik einbezogen. MacLean meint: "Nichts von alledem war in der Lage, seinen Weg in unseren Sound zu finden, außer auf die beiläufigste Art und Weise, in der schwächsten Ausprägung." Die selbsternannten Tagada-Rocker (das Tagada ist eine Karrussell-Attraktion im Wiener Würstelprater) verbinden auf ihrem Debütalbum Hunde am Meer Pop von Austro- (Wolfgang Ambros, André Heller) bis Italo- (Adriano Celentano) mit einem Schuss British Invasion (Beatles) und verfeinern dieses Potpourri mit Wiener Slang-Poesie und Attitüde.

Wie gerne spielen Fettes Brot mit Bedeutungen? Ihr Album-Titel "Am Wasser gebaut" birgt bspw. zwei offensichtliche Ebenen. Entweder er meint: dir kommen schnell die Tränen. Oder: du kommst aus einer Hafenstadt. Ausgangspunkt 1 ging mit dem Plan konform, eine Art neuer Hip Hop Soul Music zu erschaffen. Wer sich starke Feelings leistet, macht sich natürlich auch verletzlich. Ausgangspunkt Numero 2 bedingte konsequenterweise den auf dem Artwork in den vielen s/w-Bildern gezeigten Hafenarbeiterlook - u.a. im großen Hamburger Blohm & Voss-Dock fotografiert. FB hoben damit auf den legendären Marlon Brando-Spielfilm "On The Waterfront" ab und auf Dexys Midnight Runners in deren früher "Soul Rebels"-Phase.
