Sjunne Ferger was a swedish jazz and blues drummer, shifting more towards jazz after working with Don Cherry. From his ‘FAT’ Studio near the central Swedish town of Örebro, Sjunne Ferger crafted a small but radical legacy of genre bending music. With an open minded ‘anything goes’ attitude born from his jazz roots, compiled here are songs charting a transition from fusion beginnings via his debut 7″ with group ‘Exit’ through to a more blissful synthetic sound palette. Hypnotic ambient pieces written for short film swirl amongst the electronic & electrified- unreleased versions of ‘Destiny’ and ‘Candlelight’ hint at his sound to come, while the album culminates in the highlights ‘Night Rituale’ and ‘Childrens Mind’ -Intoxicating mixes of Sjunne’s influences & inspiration, they unknowingly hint at Mkwaju Ensemble and other key Japanese contemporaries, and bear witness to the Swede’s deep Eastern philosophical outlook. Retaining his own unique sound throughout, ‘Childrens Mind’ is a primer for Sjunne Ferger’s ‘Mindgames’ LP reissued on Strangelove later in 2021.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of cultures and musical traditions, C'mon Tigre is a dynamic duo that develops its identity into a collective of musicians and artists from all over the world. Along the years, they have collaborated with musicians such as Colin Stetson, Seun Kuti, Arto Lindsay, Xênia França and artists Gianluigi Toccafondo, Harri Peccinotti, Danijel Žeželj and Paolo Pellegrin to name a few. TEN, which stands for Tenth Edition Newness, is an expanded edition of their iconic Self Titled debut album, which was initially published in 2015 through Africantape on a limited vinyl pressing. It sold out quickly, was later repressed by the band and sold out again. Today, it finds its chance to be reissued with the Computer Students™ treatment. Fans will love this remastered version, which sounds substantially better than the original. The album's expansion features a slightly altered record cover in addition to a 12-page booklet with a number of writings and images. TEN will be offered on double black vinyl, audiophile quality pressing 180-gram, inside a gatefold cover. New life and an expanded treatment of Quiroga's epic Electronic/Future Jazz/House Snaporaz (Really Swing 2020), from none other than L.U.C.A. (AR029). Archeo delights us with this luscious and limited release featuring Quiroga's sleek jazz-house UFO "Snaporaz". This edition includes an exclusive extended version, a brand-new cut from the Neapolitan groover, and a completely cosmic overhaul from the mighty L.U.C.A. Operating at the nexus of future jazz, beatific electronics and deft house, Quiroga (Walter Del Vecchio to his nearest and dearest) has carved his own irresistible niche over the past two decades, gracing countless labels with nuanced body movers and forging his impressive Really Swing imprint, the original home to this melodic masterpiece. Tucked away on Del Vecchio's 2020 EP "Chords and Desire", the sunny and sultry Snaporaz fell foul of our communal pandemic preoccupation, missing out on the widespread acclaim, appreciation and ass-shaking it so richly deserves. Archeo steps in as patron, giving this Rhodes-led jazz-house heater the full 12" treatment it was born for. On the A1, Quiroga's extends the ecstasy of "Snaporaz", stretching its original elements into a loosely grooving, dopamine-deep delight. Sunkissed keys and tender pads ride the rhythm of a bubbling bassline while the sophisticated percussion snaps, crackles and pops in the background - the perfect environment for the P&P leadline to flourish. If that wasn't enough to have you slipping straight into your party pumps, Walter makes the most of the extra runtime with a HOT hand drum freakout down the final stretch, adding the most enticing icing to an already heady cake. A comparative cooldown follows in A2 offering "Escorpião", a fusion-tinged flirtation for aperitivo everywhere. Cutting back on the kick to save space for the swing, Quiroga leads us through a sublime sequence of hooks, riffs and solos, without ever overwhelming the ears but keeping the groove alive. It's a dizzying delight from start to finish and features one of the finest keytar and cowbell interplays you're likely to hear. The B-side belongs to the frankly legendary Francesco de Bellis, a house, disco, Italo and electro hero, appearing here under his deliciously downbeat alias L.U.C.A. Imbuing Quiroga's original with the atmospheric stylings of his Edizioni Mondo oeuvre, the Roman producer delivers a radical rework, slowing the tempo by 20 bpm and translating those jazzy tones into a drifting new age dancer for the cosmic crowd. Zero gravity rhythms meet mystical melodies uptown as the house hippies get down. Lest we overlook the batshit brilliance of the drum programming, L.U.C.A. caps it off with a bonus beats version sure to delight DJs and dancers alike in its otherworldly oddness.

No Holds Barred holds the honour of being the first ever tune I signed after hearing it at a Future Retro London event. When I booked FFF to play at the 3rd event at Peckham Audio in July 2022, I had recently released his tracks "Bad Vibes" & "Bookworms" on FR004 (a split EP with Dwarde) & on the night, when he played No Holds Barred, I distinctly remember walking off from whoever I was talking to, through the crowd & straight to the DJ booth to see what the tune was and then reload it because I needed to hear it again from the top.

I was emailing him afterwards to try & get an update on what was happening with the tune, he told me it was unsigned & here we are with FR028, with a quality remix from FX of Demonic Possession (one of my favourite darkside hardcore producers) on the b-side.

Kassi Valazza returns with From Newman Street on May 2 via Loose Music. Newman Street refers to the location of a friend's house in Portland where Kassi found shelter and a safe space while navigating change in 2023. Here, she wrote most of the songs for the new record and planned her move to New Orleans, Louisiana. The 10-track set is delivered through a strikingly honest lens as Valazza ponders her willingness to accept change, finding positivity where she can. Multi platinum-selling musician and multi-instrumentalist Jamie Cullum today announces The Pianoman At Christmas - The Complete Edition. Due for release on 19th November via Island Records. The deluxe album completes last year’s critically acclaimed hit album The Pianoman At Christmas Part 1, with its Second Part - featuring 11 covers of classic Christmas songs, as well as two original songs, including lead single ‘Christmas Don’t Let Me Down’, out now.

Drawing from the past and inspired by the present, The Pianoman At Christmas - The Complete Edition sees Jamie team up with London jazz innovators Kansas Smitty’s, as well as composer and producer The Vernon Spring and acclaimed LA-based jazz singer Lady Blackbird to complete a piece of work that is imbued with seasonal sophistication. Alongside his two original tracks, Jamie breathes new life into classics such as ‘Winter Wonderland’, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Frosty The Snowman’, ranging from ‘Amazing Grace’ to ‘Man With The Bag’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’. The Complete Edition will be released on double CD and double black vinyl formats, alongside a limited run of 180G Heavyweight coloured vinyl in red and gold.

Speaking on the release, Jamie said -

Released almost a year to the day before The Complete Edition is due out, The Pianoman At Christmas featured 11 original songs played by 57 of Britain’s best musicians, recorded in Abbey Road’s famous Studio 2 and produced by Greg Wells whose The Greatest Showman soundtrack spent 28 weeks at number 1. The album sold over 37,000 copies, spending 6 weeks in the album chart and peaking at number 11. In December Jamie broke the Guinness World Record for the largest music lesson ever, when he held a virtual piano lesson for 2,282 people, teaching them the carol ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ with special guests Robbie Williams, Sigrid and Dodie.
With 10 million album sales and over 890 million streams to date, Jamie is a celebrated musician the world over with loyal fans in every corner of the globe. With a career spanning over 20 years, his legendary live shows have seen him perform and work alongside artists as diverse as Herbie Hancock, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar and IDLES - Jamie writing on the latter’s album Ultra Mono. With her debut album Black Acid Soul earning critical praise, Lady Blackbird is a revelatory new talent with music that transcends the jazz scene through which the LA-based artist is rooted. Reflecting influences as varied as Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Chaka Khan, with critics drawing comparisons to Adele, Amy and Celeste, Lady Blackbird’s distinct and beguiling voice is not one to be missed.

UK band Kansas Smitty’s have developed a musical voice wholly unique from what’s happening around them. They are led by band leader and producer Giacomo Smith who's cinematic compositions feature on their releases, most recently 2021's acclaimed Things Happened Here for Berlin based label !K7. In 2015 they launched their own east London venue and bar, of the same name, which became one of the conception points for the current UK jazz boom.

Londoner Sam Beste aka The Vernon Spring is a polymath in music who has production, writing and performance credits as eclectic as Amy Winehouse, Matthew Herbert, Kano, Joy Crookes, Beth Orton, Blood Orange, Gabriels and MF DOOM. Since 2019 he has been making waves with solo project The Vernon Spring, which foregrounds his rare capacity to hold sophistication and simplicity in the same hands through highly intimate muted-piano compositions and improvisations.

Following on from the celebrated first instalment, the second part of The Male Body Will Be Next compiles an entourage of daring sonic experiments, composed in response to bell hooks’ landmark book The Will to Change. Prompting artists and musicians to envision cross-gender solidarity, Osàre! Editions founder Elena Colombi presents an enrapturing, narrative album, conceptualised around collective transformation.

Resonating with hooks’ challenge to men to reclaim the sensitivity that patriarchy denies them, the name of the record arises from a photograph by Peter de Potter and Rebecca Salvadori’s film of the same title. In these depictions, naked flesh is exposed, made vulnerable and trembles with emotion as the fragility of masculine bodies are examined through the queer and female oppositional gaze. Transforming this visual language into musical expression, The Male Body Will Be Next swirls with punk vitriol, electrified noise, acid, electro and free-wheeling encounters charged by love, lust and limerence.

Gently plunking chords signal Pose Diva’s reimagining of lover’s rock before Sissy Fuss smashes in with a heavy-weight instrumental version of their erotic anthem ‘No Restraint’.
Made up of Turkish musician Etkin Çekin and Belarussian songstress Galina Ozeran, God is God delivers a gentle lullaby, while Low End Activist flirts with dark and brooding bass, shattering penetrating frequencies into luminous fragments. Riffing off the 2020 documentary about female early electronica pioneers, Loma Doom crafts a slowly oscillating drone zenith, the ultimate climax. In line with the conceptual underpinning, there are plenty of collaborations – Daytripper’s Riva and Sitar player Tommy Khosla, Lebanonese experimentalist N R and Swiss-French producer John Silvestre (AKA Typhon), as well as Colombi herself and trans author/activist Juno Roche. Within these partnerships, new modalities come alive as mediums, practices and perspectives are ignited and pushed in otherworldly, metamorphic directions.

Kohei Matsunaga, a musician and illustrator born in Osaka in 1978, started drawing at an early age and went on to study architecture at university. He has been actively making music since 1992, with notable releases on labels such as Raster Noton, Wordsound, Mille Plateaux, PAN and Skam Records. Kohei has collaborated with many artists, including Mika Vainio, Sensational from the Jungle Brothers, Sean Booth from Autechre, Conrad Schnitzler, Merzbow, Asmus Tietchens and many more.

Respected Swedish drummer and composer Dennis Egberth introduces new sextet in his first album with 577 Records.

The self-titled release highlights his creativity, painting a hypnotic soundscape that soothes the soul.

Experimental wizard Dennis Egberth is known for his distinguished approach to experimental music, free improv, and alternative pop, as well as his fascinating skills in blending cosmic composition and chilled ambient and electronic sounds. He presents floating melodies of irresistible bass lines and long, modal buildups that come alive with exploding lyricism. His new record highlights his compositional roots and was inspired by the evolution of electronics in this genre during the late ‘60s and ‘70s.

Egberth fused his talents with those of Fredrik Ljungkvist on tenor sax and clarinet, Niklas Barnö on trumpet, Alexander Zethson on Wurlitzer, Linus Hillborg on electronics, and double bassist Joe Williamson, forming an unforgettable sextet. Together, they’re more like a thriving ecosystem than anything else. Each member brings critical elements from their dynamic roles in the Swedish and European creative music scene and contributes them to the manifestation of a higher wave of sound unlike any other."

Wilson Tanner return to dry land with Legends, a wine-soaked agricultural fantasy, made among the grapevines at Manon Farm in South Australia. Where their earlier works settled into the sun-struck torpor of a suburban Perth backyard (69) or drifted off-course on a riverboat on Port Phillip Bay (ii), Legends trades salt air for vineyard sweat, the scrape of boots on dry earth and workers’ radios humming with the summer test cricket season.

Through this agricultural haze an image of a working vineyard emerges - ducks, dogs and plovers intrude; tractors and quads fly-by; stainless steel gleams at the edges. Recorded without mains power, the Manon demos overflow with farmyard ingenuity. Wind, brass, balalaika, balloon, pipe and synth are trained onto the staff with wire, tape and string.

A caricature of Australian viticulture, Legends is packed to the horns with the mythology and manure of natural wine. Swigging and belching in camaraderie, Wilson Tanner press their surroundings into something raw and unfiltered, letting bum notes, leftovers and sediment linger in the bottle. A cornucopia of biodynamic sounds.

Keith Hudson’s Nuh Skin Up Dub is a deep, heavyweight dub album that stands as one of the most potent statements in the genre’s history. Released in 1979, this sonic masterpiece showcases Hudson’s signature dark, almost mystical production style, where heavy basslines, echo-drenched drums, and ghostly fragments of vocals swirl together in a hypnotic haze. Unlike the more polished, accessible dub records of the time, Nuh Skin Up Dub is raw, unfiltered, and experimental, pushing the boundaries of rhythm and space. Tracks like "Nuh Skin Up" and "Felt We Felt the Strain" pulse with an eerie, almost menacing energy, while Hudson’s masterful use of reverb and delay creates a soundscape that feels simultaneously expansive and claustrophobic. Often referred to as the “Dark Prince of Reggae,” Hudson had an uncanny ability to craft music that was both deeply meditative and unsettling, and Nuh Skin Up Dub is a prime example of his genius. It's a record that rewards deep listening—every spin reveals new layers of sonic detail, hidden textures, and dub wizardry. For fans of heavy, atmospheric dub, Nuh Skin Up Dub is an essential listen, a landmark recording that solidifies Keith Hudson’s status as one of the most visionary figures in reggae history.

A1 - CRYME x Ben Reymann - WTTD The perfect opening track doesn't exist... "WTTD" stands for "Welcome to the Dancefloor" and sets the tone of this EP. Starting with heavy kicks, syncopated low toms, and hot vocals that ease you into the night, it tells a story about how we can feel and let loose while being on the dancefloor together.

A2 - CRYME x Ben Reymann - Acid Array "Acid Array" is driven by a low-resonant 303 bassline and is supported by ever-evolving atmospheric pads that stretch across the entire track. Simple and sharp hats, along with a powerful clap that cuts through the mix like butter, make up a perfect groove.

B1 - CRYME x Ben Reymann - Midnight Journey "Midnight Journey" is a drum-focused minimalistic track. The reverb-soaked, dreamy pads contrast with the rather rough drums, creating a nostalgic feel that is both sad and happy at the same time.

B2 - CRYME x Ben Reymann - Midnight Journey (Volpe Remix) On the B-side, we are happy to have Argentinian artist Volpe on board with his interpretation of "Midnight Journey." He flipped the track, giving it more drive by adding extra drums and changes in the rhythm structure while keeping the reverb-soaked, dreamy pads from the original. His classic, moody filter sweeps fit perfectly on top.

B3 - CRYME x Ben Reymann - Chordance "Chordance" stands out due to a rather clean mixdown. The playful rhythms of the toms combined with soulful chords as the main element and a big pulsating low end round the EP off with class.

The voyage of Captain Barbatus D. Wreckords across The New World continues with an episode on Nexus Island, where the pirates reveal the secrets of The World Government yet again!

For the third chapter of the Barbatus series, the odyssey is musically delivered by Pontiff Ordric, a.k.a. Mayank Saraiya. It is a great pleasure, to present one of the many monikers of a talented Indo-Ukrainian artist, and fellow pirate of the Barbatus ship, who also is behind the mix/master helm of the Barbatus label.

The engineer-DJ-producer tells his tale through a blend of syncopated, electro inspired, beats and proto-trance synths that are riddled with tributes to the sound of the 80's.

"Grey Hoodie is the 1st official album of the young producer and DJ Pentola, born in Apulia and based in Milan. Grey Hoodie is a mixture of electronic vibes inspired by the UK sound from 90s and 2000s. Broken-Beat, UK Garage, Jungle, Deep-House are the ingredients of these 8 tracks in which you can also recognize a post-Dilla flavor, all embellished by the presence of jazz musicians like Stefano De Santis, G-Foxxx and Stefano Nardon, and the singer Aljiaa. Anyone could write a good review of this album just by listening to the snippets that compose it and realize the conceptuality of the work that aims to achieve different goals, including that of being the album made with the greatest passion possible and with the greatest spirit of aggregation. Grey Hoodie is Pentola's sonic refuge, the place where the artist feels most at ease, where he manages to bring together the harmonies of jazz with the percussions and grooves of modern electronic music with that "touch" inspired by J Dilla, leader of Detroit's underground hip-hop scene in the mid-1990s."
