In other news, Robosonic are back with their third Yoshi classic remix! The boys flex their funk muscle with a mix that is equal parts classic house and modern banger, and sports one of their best bass lines to date. While their trademark sound has always been flourished with plenty of nods to the past - think jazz-funk, disco, acid jazz and boogie - Reel People's career has been forged on crafting new songs and instrumentals. For their latest album, "Retroflection", they've decided to flip the script, serving up a set of covers of classic cuts with the assistance of some notable vocalists. It's a neat twist and one that results in a string of superb revisions. Check, for example, the Mica Paris-fronted take on Alicia Meyers' "I Want To Thank You", their starry version of electrofunk staple "Don't Stop The Music" (complete with sublime Angie Stone vocal), an Incognito style take on Willie Bobo's "Always There" and a riotous, scene-stealing romp through Pleasure favourite "Joyous".

From a discarded CDR, rediscovered in a dark corner in a sun kissed flea market in Versailles we bring you some rare and unheard personal edits from the archives of the city's Pierre Yves Marie. A name not familiar to many, Pierre was a locally known DJ and switched-on music lover whose interests in Disco, Italo, HI-NRG and early house sounds led him to visit the USA - particularly the midwest - numerous times throughout the late 80's and early 90's. It was here, inspired by the DJ's he heard firsthand in Chicago, Detroit and other places he visited that he became inspired to create his own versions and mixes of tracks to play at his small Disco parties at the city's "Les Caves Du Roi", an intimate club space that allowed Pierre to create his own atmosphere where he attracted a hedonistic, stylish and very mixed crowd to hear him play. These edits were rediscovered a few years back, languishing in a shoebox at said flea-market, dumped after Pierre's struggles with the 'party life' in the late 1990's and he was eventually tracked down via some solid detective work and local knowledge. He has, after much discussion, very kindly allowed a limited amount of these unique DJ tools to be pressed onto wax. Being a keen follower of technology, he had originally transferred his reels and tape edits onto CDR's in the early 1990's, which lends a lo-fi and raw vibe to these edits. We feel this surely adds charm and beauty to these roughly hewn personal mixes and we are lucky to be able to share in this small piece of history.

In a new transatlantic partnership, UK label Secret Reels and Washington, DC imprint Better Listen Records have teamed up for a run of collaborative records. The joint brand, Secret Listen, combines the labels in sound as well as in name. Imagine the lush, pensive and moody deep house tones of Secret Reels joining with the sample-heavy disco soul leanings of BLR.Secret Listen Vol. 1 takes two artists each from both rosters for the first amalgamation. The "Secret Side" hosting English producers Harry Wolfman and Chocky, while the "Listen Side" invites Sune and Vitamin D of High Hat Appreciation Society and the newly founded Honey Butter Records to the affair.It's a V/A release with a variety of offerings and flavours. Wolfman's "Floozy" sits first in the record as a bright and whimsical flute-led morsel, while Chocky's "Inner Disco" is a cerebral, loopy cut. On the flip, Sune provides some exquisite Rhodes action in his groovy midtempo effort, "Glidin'", and his Swedish compatriot closes out the affair with the bittersweet "Lately".

OVERVIEW: To celebrate 40 years since their formation in Leeds in 1978, Soft Cell, aka Marc Almond and Dave Ball, release some brand-new remixes this summer on their own Big Frock imprint.

Soft Cell have been synonymous with the club scene since their debut single release Memorabilia in 1981, (produced by Mute Records' Daniel Miller) which is widely cited by many dance music luminaries as the first ever acid house record. The band cut their teeth and built their notoriety in clubs across the world, from Leeds Warehouse right across the Atlantic to New York's legendary Danceteria. Second single Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go went on to become one of the biggest club (and chart) hits of all time, reaching Number 1 in 17 countries later in 1981. The first true electronic UK duo, the band have sold over 30 million records throughout their career and have been covered or sampled by artists as diverse as Rihanna, Nine Inch Nails, a-Ha and Marilyn Manson, and well as influencing many others. The EP features remixes chosen by two internationally-renowned UK DJs, both massive fans of Soft Cell. Hifi Sean has remixed Insecure Me, B side to 1982 single Torch, as well as So, flip side to the single What. Jon Pleased Wimmin has remixed one of Soft Cell's earliest compositions, A Man Could Get Lost.

While intended as a club tool for DJs, Soft Cell are making available a strictly limited number of the 12' picture disc EP, for their fans, on a first come, first served basis. These mixes will not be released on any other format, and do not feature on the upcoming Keychains & Snowstorms: The Soft Cell Story box set.

UK deep house legend Nail returns to Monologues Records for a full release after his sublime 'Decisions' featured on the 'Dialogue Vol. 2' various artists 12" at the end of last year. Ever consistent, he delivers two deliciously deep gems. 'Voodoo' is a low-down chugger, chunky beats doing battle with disco and soul samples in hypnotic effect. 'On Wid It' also oozes soul in its vocal sample and twinkling keys, a garage tinge to its groove. G. Markus steps up for the remix of 'Voodoo', keeping things rolling and injecting a big groove of a bassline into the proceedings.

Taken for the widely played and adored Lenny Williams Spark of Love Album, which was released during the Disco Era of 1976 and featured disco hits like, 'You got me Running', I still Reach and 'Midnight Girl' comes 'Changes.'

Edits and Overdubs Produced and Performed by Joaquin Joe Clausell; Changes is the tune that was mostly ignored from the extensive Lenny Williams music catalogue.
Similar to his past works where he chooses songs that are mostly un popular to the outside world but classics amongst himself and his siblings at home, Joaquin Joe Claussell takes this Jam that he used to groove to at home as a young teenager, lifts it out from obscurity and turns it into something that will sure be played by most DJ's who are into the Lenny Williams Sound, soulful disco and beyond.

Listed at a time length of (5:03) Joe cleverly up lifts this soulful disco composition and extends it to a time of (9:01). He achieves this, as usual, with respecting the original composition and with never anyself-masturbation. In the end, the results are a New Disco Classic that drives with relentless energy and enough soul for anyone who's seeking more soul that hailed mostly from the urban side of American disco music.

New Aussie label, Corella Records, run by producer/DJ Blind Tiger (formerly Captn K) is broadening the repertoire with a second release, a new indie disco
12" single, Forbidden Fruit.
Forbidden Fruit - Field of Fruit Mix, is the one to check out. It's an indie dance/nu-disco excursion with driving bass and piano. Reverb slathered vocals from Steve Hensby
and dreamy strings make this track an uplifting 8 minute journey.
With a touch of early Chicago House in the piano stabs, Georgio Moroder in the rhythm, the drive of Underworld and repetitive elements reminiscent of Field.

Forbidden Fruit - Original Mix, is serving up some classic disco with funky synth bass, driving drums and percussion and the full range of vocalist Steve Hensby makes this a great dance floor mover.

Tel Aviv's Hectik and Asaf Samuel come with a vicious edit of a drunk and rowdy wedding classic. Mexico's Mufti takes the Maserati into overdrive with his rework of an 80's heater. International waters won't be muddied by this unity of lust and fury.

Kicking off the first of two tracks by Sondrio Night Train is smooth and subtle, this melodic low slung groover is made for those warm summer days. The Deep tones give the low end just enough attitude to get those boots knocking.

Give It Like is punchy and upbeat, Sondrio gives you a dance floor weapon that'll have the punters up in arms. His signature low end notes drive this record with vocal stabs that will fit in any set.

First up on B side Ant LaRock drops another groovy house number Better Think with a mesmerising vocal laid on top of nothing but luscious chords. Summer needs records like this, it's what memories are made of.

Music From Memory's final 12" for 2017 is a reissue of Dub Oven's self released, and sadly one-off, 1983 EP 'Skin N Bones'.

Pioneers in the Post Punk Industrial and New Wave scene in 1980's San Francisco, Gary Miles (Voice Farm) and Blaise Smith (Minimal Man), met at San Francisco's notorious 181 Club in December of 1982. This straight/same sex/swing-both-ways late night dive bar was tucked away in one of the city's most risky, drug riddled neighbourhoods. Stationed near the SF Museum of modern Art it attracted a wild audience of local patrons, aspiring young artists and music heads. In the thick of all this the duo felt impartial to a lot what was going on musically and set out to produce electronic music that could break through the "somewhat exhausted post disco sound that was then competing in the local San Francisco clubs". Enlisting soul vocalist Celeste Miller, the duo were also inspired by Lee 'Scratch' Perry / Upsetters dub tracks being produced in Jamaica and created a unique breed of avant guard hybrid New Wave/Electronic Funk.

With it's influences seemingly as much rooted in the past and the present as it was focused on the future, Dub Oven formed a distinct, mystical approach to music intended for the dance floor. All three tracks on this 12" embody a signature groove and an inventive synthesized abstraction to express a languishing urban unsettledness and spiritual awareness. Recorded at L7 Studios in San Francisco with the assistance of the the studio's in house producer Marco Perry (who currently now works with Bjork) the record was unfortunately overlooked by A&R at several major and even local labels and was finally self-released in very limited quantities. Utilising analog electronics and instrumentation, the record draws on elements of dub, new wave, soul and funk to create a sound that is uncategorizable and one that was perhaps simply too forward thinking for it's time.

Sofa Talk debuts on Omena with the 'Scissors & Shapes EP' that includes a remix by Australia's best kept secret Prequel.

Originally released on the French label Apricot Records in 1997. It now includes an extended mix of the title track, and a previously unreleased song serving as a dub on the b-side.

Enigmatic producer Waxwood has a genuinely global outlook. Born in Russia, resident in Brooklyn and a regular visitor to Los Angeles, he can often be found jetting off to far-fung parts of the World in order to make feld recordings and immerse himself in different musical cultures.

Upon Styles, Sahasraha, which magically fused tropical hand
percussion and densely layered feld recordings with lilting ambient chords, hypnotic electronic rhythms and all manner of intoxicating
aural fourishes. 'Kama' is a slightly different beast from its' predecessor, with a sunny disposition and laidback breeziness throughout. Although underpinned
by a sturdy kick-drum pattern, its chiming melodies and metallic
percussion fourishes - reminiscent of indigenous music from far-
fung nations such as Malaysia and Indonesia - combine with gentle acoustic guitar motifs and waves of acid-esque electronics to create a beguiling and life-affrming mood. It offers more proof that Waxwood is a producer with a unique musical vision. The track's inherent gentle breeziness is explored in greater detail on the accompanying remix, which has been provided by Phantom Island regulars Fuga Ronto (AKA Swiss musicians/producers Ron Shiller and Tobi Schweizer). Riffng on Waxwood's original, they've added superb new vocals and instrumentation - think dreamy harmonies, tumbling synthesizer melodies and mesmerizing guitar parts - to create a sunset-friendly Balearic revision that's both stunningly beautiful and dazzlingly sun-kissed.

Harlem's legendary Disco label Queen Constance has long been a cult favourite among fans of underground dance music for decades.

One of many labels operating under the equally legendary P&P family of imprints Queen Constance was operated by one Peter Brown, a truly colossal figure in NYC's music scene, it's catalogue still fascinates music lovers to this day. Covering a wide range of styles including Gospel, early Rap and Disco the label's output continually finds it way into the playlists of respected DJ's and selectors across the globe. Wayne Forde's super heavyweight 'Dance To The Music Freakout' is the second reissue from the label for 2018!

Yet again, not much is known about Wayne Forde, or his band 'Stereo'. Could it be another Peter and Patrick studio project Another selection of local, neighbourhood players and singers Who knows What we do know, however, is that this record is a TOTAL disco bomb. All of what you want from a Queen Constance record is here, it's dripping in funk, raw and soulful. Essential stuff for anyone with even a passing interest in disco or anything funky. These jams are super long, percussive dance-floor melters that will do damage! Super rare, too. You won't find one of these nestled in the racks in your local chazzer, which is exactly why these (legit) represses should be in your cart. Essential.

We've had our eyes on Obas Nenor for a while and after his disco-meets-Detroit affair on 'Mahogani', and some great releases on his newly started own label 'Nenorian music' and 'Sol Power', we're happy to share his work for Heist with you. 'The Ceaper Buing EP" features 4 original cuts and a remix by Swedish "Mr. Tophat" that navigates somewhere between really weird, and really groovy. If you've seen any of his studio videos, you'll see he's has a great mix between live instrumentation, and sampling on his MPC, and each track on this EP has so many great elements working together, that it will be hard to pick a favourite. "The doors" has a great filtered funk loop going on with some roughed up disco percussion, whereas the Tophat remix twists and turns the original into somewhat of a tribal(ish) drum workout that is probably best enjoyed in a really really dark room. "Glimpse of light" has some really interesting sampling going on with a feel that is almost 'rock', but gets more and more disco with some lovely synth work as the track progresses. As a counterpart to the first part of the EP, 'Wacky' slows things down to give you a summery, afro inspired track that we forced him to send us after we saw a short clip online of him jamming away on his Korg x-911. UV lights is a somewhat special track for us that you wouldn't expect on Heist at first, but makes for a great addition to our musical world. It's perfect 'hands-in-the-air' end of the night material, with a serene and emotional vibe that is really hard not to love. Altogether, it's a great EP that we're really happy to share with you. Its Converse All-Stars for biker boots.

New project alert for this experienced duo with a deep history from playing Hammond organ for Robert Plant, releasing 12"s on MAW's Kenlou Records and playing weekly six hour vinyl DJ sets, with 20+ years experience WLC have come full circle for this diverse EP. "Give You More" is a MPC house groover with KDJ-esque jazz-funk loops and vocal sample chops while "Miami Rice & Peas" centres around Latin piano motifs. "Everybody's A Star" replays the classic Minnie Riperton "Inside My Love" chord progression but with added vocals and disco flavours and "Which Way Is Detroit" fuses broken beat, techno, live keys and electric bass with a pulsating breakbeat. Finally, the bouncy "Five Soul Chords" utilises some J Dilla swing combined with warm analogue synth programming. Highly recommended.

In recent years the clamour for the funkier side of AOR, Blue eyed soul, funky rock or any other description you'd care to imagine has reached heightened places. The hardest diggers have been endlessly searching for breezy, soulful and rock-infused R&B gems hidden away in the recesses of the major and independent label archives. Miami's CAT Records - one such independent, and an off-shoot of the hugely successful TK Disco empire had made it's mark since the early 70's with stellar sides from Little Beaver, George & Gwen McCrae, Raw Soul Express and many more. It was later, 1977 to be precise, in the height of the Disco era when Chocolateclay appeared. Their self-titled and sole LP has long been a thing of sought after beauty, a real Miami rarity that showcases a classy blend of funk, soul and AOR stylings delivered by the solid pairing of George 'Chocolate' Perry and Clay Cropper. Perry's name is well known among rare soul aficionados due to his involvement in some classic underground records from that scene (Wizzdom 'I'm So In Love With you' etc) and his part in writing, producing and arranging for artists like Blowfly, Milton Wright, King Sport, Bobby Caldwell, Latimore, Joe Walsh and many more. Cropper was also well known as a solid Miami session man who played keys, wrote and produced for a plethora artists from that part of the world throughout the 70's and 80's including Betty Wright, George McCrae, Frederick Knight and more. To say these 2 guys were seasoned pro's would be an understatement. No surprise then that their contribution to the CAT catalogue is a finely tuned, funky, sunkissed LP of jams that will bring unlimited joy and warmth to you via your turntable. Languid, melodic, grown-up soul music here folks, drenched in that sunshine state goodness. Oozing positivity and class - Chocolateclay is as deep as it gets. Often selling on-line for tidy sums (£60 +) this LP is a true gem, now is your chance to own a %100 legit, TK Disco sanctioned, vinyl copy of this killer Soul LP. It seems like about every three years or so, the mysterious BOXMUSIC label drops a killer, vinyl only release that turns into an instant classic. It started back in 2006 with I Love Music. Then in 2009 came I'm Satisfied. 2011 saw the release of As/Always. And then, silence. Rumor has it there were some great edits released under some aliases on different labels, but nothing on BOXMUSIC...until now. Believe us, it was worth the wait. On this release, label-head, scott K. brings in his Chicago brother, Cratebug to handle the remix duties. Dagfest in English means 'Day Party' and is comprised of Sweet Swedes, Patricio Cabezas and Mats Lundgren. The duo professes their love for cosmic stickiness in all its trappings between these two originals.

Manchester original Sameed comes through on GAMM with two tasty noodle nuggets based on his food experiences from Vietnam where he currently resides.
His simple yet effective approach is best described as sample-friendly underground dance music with influences of Disco, Soul and Jazz.

On his GAMM debut the first noodle dish comes with a heavy Disco and Jazz-Funk feel (Bun) that together with some gritty vocals gives us a peak time jam to die for.

Killer, cosmic leaning German Funk-Rock moves here on the repress tip courtesy of Epsilon, a 4 piece from Marburg, just North of Frankfurt.

That kind of grooved out, downtempo dusted Glam type of gear that one might hear DJ Harvey play at wrong o'clock in the morning, or something that Loda might flip into mid-set that would have everyone scratching their head in disbelief. One of a handful of cool jams the Epsilon guys cranked out, remastered and repressed on a lovely, handy 45. Sounds heavy. Essential listening for those of a more 'left-field' disposition. Dig it.

A classic white label that has been out-of-print and hard-to-find for many years is now remastered and reissued with an all-new B side from edit maestro Mr. K. After Iñigo Vontier, Cabaret Nocturne and Dimitri Veimar's excellent remixes of 'Autómatas' and 'Computer Friends' now it's time for Marvin and Guy and Zombies In Miami with two outstanding reworks of 'The Arptist' and 'Disconnect'. The fantastic italian duo Marvin and Guy take on 'The Arptist' is an 11minutes lisergic journey through magic pads, sparkling arpeggios and distorted guitars. On the flip Zombies In Miami work there magic on 'Disconnect' using the original pads and Undo's voice to create a totally new track with their own trademark. The 12'' limited edition comes wrapped in a beatiful cover by David Imbernon and mastered by Yves Roussel.

Time for some completely fresh business from a relative newcomer to the scene, though we're sure the name Cosmonection will be on your radars soon enough. The Parisian producer knocked us off our feet with a beautiful debut back in March this year on the fledgling Pont Neuf imprint. His '10 Feet Before The Horizon EP' was loaded with the just the kind of spaced- out, synth-heavy deep late night house that gets us all aquiver over here, so when a demo popped into the inbox we were all over it like a donkey on a waffle.

Here we present you with the Menorca EP; three blissed-out synth jams which explore the space between Balearic euphoria and Detroit futurism. On the title track a mournful Moog lead takes centre stage floating over a rising chord progression whilst punchy 909 drums bring the groove to the dance floor.

Next up, You picks up the pace for a deep and dubby house workout where soft focus pads converge with clattering percussion. Fragments of chiming melody bouncing around the stripped back groove.

Flipping over we have Light which shows Cosmonection at his most musical, layering up arpeggiating synths lines through a slowly building intro until a heavy groove with hefty kick joins the scene. The arrangement ebbs and flows as the rhythm drops out, rising synths creating anticipation and tension. This track feels like an ambitious fusion of musical styles and textures with 90's ambient colliding with Underground Resistance and coming up with a fresh sound for 2018 in the process.

Rounding off the record we have Delusions regulars, DJ supremos and all- round good guys Session Victim taking the reins on a remix of You. Keeping the warm, feel-good pads, the German duo inject a new found shuffle to the groove, bringing a wide-screen sensibility which adds a sublime yet dance-floor pleasing dimension to the release.

Crackazat returns to Local Talk with a second single from his album 'Rainbow Fantasia'.

This time two of the stand out tracks 'Sundial' and 'Holding You Close' get the remix treatment by Groove Assassin and Waajeed !!

First up is Nick Moss aka Groove Assassin, his take on Sundial is a rousing rhythm of soulful house that comes bumping in. He kept the essence of the original track but also added some lovely keys, it sure hits that sweet spot and you're hooked for the full seven and a half minutes.

On the flip former Slum Village and Platinum Pied Piper beat maker and producer-extraordinaire Waajeed turns 'Holding You Close' into something imaginative with its layered percussion, jammed keys and vocal arrangement.

The 'We R Tuesday Nights' series continues giving you three more killer funk, soul and disco tracks, edited to perfection by the Chicago master.

Our final physical release of 2018 at First Word comes courtesy of Souleance, aka the DJ producer duo consisting of Soulist and Fulgeance, with a double A sided single, and a glimpse into one of our forthcoming 2019 releases, 'French Cassette' which follows on from Souleance's acclaimed 'La Beat Tape' release from 2013, and again delves into crates of samples with a distinct French flavour.

'François' is a track dedicated to the one and only François de Roubaix, legendary film score composer, jazz aficionado and one of the duo's biggest French influences. A delectable slice of 100 bpm instrumental boom bap, built around a seriously infectious jazz-funk groove, and chopped-up vocals.

'Sète' heads to the south of France, to the beautiful Mediterranean city where Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival takes place. A region that the duo have had love and appreciation of, for many years. This one touches up the tempo a little, with some sun-glazed boogie riding beneath ethereal vocals, samples and sizzling synths.


With a decades worth of collaboration between them, and persistent party rocking across Europe, Souleance continue to create tried & tested nuggets of magic for the dancefloor. 2018 marks our first step into album territory, releasing the sophomore album 'High life' of Heist's very own Detroit Swindle, to be released end of May. This single features the album cut 'Flavourism' with vocals from Seven Davis Jr. Here, the single is presented with remixes by the amazing Pépé Bradock and Boston-to-NYC house duo John Barera & Will Martin.
Flavourism is as much a throwback track to classic Detroit Swindle territory, as it is a look into their contemporary view on soulful deep house. The vibe is set by Seven Davis Jr.'s distinctive vocals, accompanied by warm 'side-chained' pads and a rubbery live synth-bassline. Fans of 'The Wrap Around' will definitely feel a nod to that 2012 classic with those Prophet pads. If you've seen their live performance with Seven Davis Jr. during Dour festival in 2015 or heard their remix for SDJ's track 'Friends' on Classic Music Company, you might already anticipate a collaboration that works like a charm.
When deciding on a remixer for this project, the boys wanted to do something special. Ask someone special. And so it happened that they asked Pépé Bradock: someone who stood at the root of European house music and has pioneered in the genre, carefully curating his own style into something that surpasses genres. Here, he delivers both a stunning and deep interpretation of the original, with added harmonies, a touch of lo-fi and his own signature electronics. On top comes the 'acapella', stripped from all percussion and leaving the vocal and all of Pépé's lovely weirdness.
The single further features US house duo John Barera & Will Martin, who have already released some amazing music on Dolly, or John's own ' Supply records'. Not surprisingly, they deliver a great clubby house cut with some Chicago flavour, dubbing and out the vocal to a basic mantra: 'I'll always keep'.

New label MIC launches with some previously unreleased and unheard material from UK DIY jazz funk maverick, Mike Collins, better known as the brains behind the spacey Loft classic, Sun Palace - 'Rude Movements'. MIC presents a small archive of Collins' material (recorded around the time of 'Rude Movements') and reveals the more experimental side of Collins' production. Five tracks that explore early, proto-house music, electro, and fascinating drum machine observation. Essential issue!

6th Borough Project's 2017 standout LP 'Find Your Rhythm' get's the remix treatment from five in demand artists. On the A side Mathias Schober flips 'Someday' from a chuggy acid number into a brooding synth laden techno stomper, whilst Lay-Far switches the DnB flavours of 'Back Where It All Began' into a breakbeat tinged house roller. The final remix on the A side is taken by Afrobad, who creates a broken beat rhythmic stepper out of title track 'Find Your Rhyhtm'.

Flip it over and Jad & The take things deep with their remix of 'Release' creating a sun kissed, blissed out version of the original. Whilst Deep Space Orchestra take the closing slot of this Fifty Fathoms Deep remix package turning 'One Way Out' from a rave leaning bass track into a hard hitting, glitched out rhythmic weapon complete with killer drum programming and a touch of the UK funky to it.

NYC's Disco powerhouse West End Records should need no intro. The home of too-numerous-to-list club classics for over 30+ years is still impacting today on what we know to be club culture. The label started by one Mel Cheren (RIP) with assistance from Larry Levan and more way back in 1976 is still held in such high regard today with it's catalogue constantly being played, rediscovered, reinterpreted and loved by waves and waves of new fans and admirers.

From the West End vaults we are pleased to present Ednah Holt's 'Serious, Sirius Space Party', a thundering, slo-mo, bass-heavy slab of NYC electronic funk that will sound familiar to those who paid close attention to what the maestro Larry Levan was doing in his sacred booth at the Garage in 1981, or to those who tuned in to peep what the master Afrika Islam was doing on his now semi-religious, hip-hop blueprint 'Zulu Beat Show' on WHBI. That's right, you can guarantee if those 2 guys were playing your record in the city at the same time then you had an underground 'hit' on your hands. The fact that it crossed over from the discotheques to the streets and back again speaks of the appeal of this super heavyweight jam, the legendary team up of Kenton 'Kenix' Nix, Larry himself on the mix, and former Ritchie Family vocalist Ednah Holt makes for some heady listening. One for the after hours dancers, B-Boys and B-Girls and lovers of the downtempo workout. A true and essential NYC classic.

Two absolutely legendary pieces of early Chicago house music finally reissued for 2018. Mike Macharello and Duane Thamm JR's Knight Action project was responsible for this colossal 1985 landmark release that saw a heady fusion of Euro influenced and Italo Disco sounds meet in the windy city and in turn create history.
Released on Macharello's 'Let's Dance' imprint the 'R-Trax / D-Rail' 12" has long been a holy grail of Chicago house, skeletal drum programming, acidic basslines and manic, strobing claps and toms combine to create a fresh and hedonistic version of the music that Macharello and Thamm JR were playing on the city's infamous WBMX radio station as well as in the clubs and roller rinks. A truly underground flavour, and certainly some of the earliest examples of the House sound that would eventually become synonymous with Chicago, 'R-Trax / D-Rail' both still sound compelling today and continue to wreak havoc on any dance-floor.

With its lush live string and horn section, Can't Stop Loving You when originally released in 1990 was an immediate favorite in the UK, and represented famed House Producer Marshall Jefferson's movement toward utilizing live instrumentation in his productions. The track was released right around the time the Kiss FM London launched as a legal radio station, and Richard was support talent at the radio station launch party in Hyde Park London that was headlined by fellow Chicagoans Ten City.

The track also represented one of the last releases on the relaunched Sam Records imprint, before Michael Weiss ceased releasing new titles on Sam and started Nervous Records.

Krystal Klear has shown a unique ability to recognize sonic elements trends from past eras, and re-shape them to work for today's club crowds. With his two versions, he has done a masterful job remixing this early 90's dance classic.

'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster' sees Murphy collaborate with Ali Love, one of London's most inventive and unpredictable voices in dance music over the last decade. Love's trademark smooth and infectious tones marry perfectly with Murphy's. In her own words; ''I love Ali Love's voice, he's got the boogie in him, he's an exceptional hook writer also. I've been hoping to work with him for a long time and this Maurice Fulton music just seemed the perfect match. The baseline in this track is highly evocative and Ali already had the title when he came to the studio, he had just been reading about a 'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster' being built in Japan and it was a notion that fit the funk of the track perfectly, we wrote the song and put the vocals down in a few hours, we're a match made in heaven!''

The debut vinyl only release on the newly established KOD (Keep on Dancing) Records embodies the spirit of multiple day long sessions held at the revered Can Chou Chou house in Ibiza, where anything goes from Disco to Techno (in this case the former prevails) so long as it's played tastefully and at the right time. The 4th edition in the acclaimed Sterns Edits series sees curator Ben Gomori open up the Sterns Music catalogue to other keen re-editors — with Brownswood / Worldwide genius SMBD (aka Simbad) the first to step up to the plate.

Nigeria's Segun Adewale is sometimes referred to as the 'crown prince' of jùjú music, but in the 1980s he developed a sound all of his own, which he called yo-pop. A mixture of jùjú, funk, reggae, Afrobeat and jazz, its vibrant melange can be heard on his 1986 record 'Ojo Je', where both these originals are taken from. SMBD delivers too superb flips of the title track — a gritty funk-fuelled 'Disco' version with live bass, and a deliciously deep dub-house version. Gomori, meanwhile, takes the haunting 'Atewo-Lara Ka Tepa Mo'se' for an extended hypnotic, tribal trip.

The stunning artwork comes from Kofi Ankobra, the son of radical white South Africans who grew up in Ghana and studied art at Oshogbo, Nigeria — the place Adewale himself was born.

Sterns Edits is an official collaboration between African music stalwarts Sterns Music and London's Ben Gomori.

Coming hot on the heels of Khidja's return to the label with their Never Seen The Dunes EP, is a set of remixes by friends and family of the label and band, featuring no less than Discodromo, Inflagranti, Red Axes and Selvy on mixing desk duties. A proper Remix EP with all 4 tracks from the original EP getting a proper European flavoured rework. Starting with Discodromo, this dynamic Italian duo produce for the likes of Dissident, Internasjonal and Slow Motion Records, DJ around the globe and run the exemplary CockTail's d'Amour label out of their Berlin base. Their unique take on the modern discoid sound is perfect for the title track and taking right to the red zone. Adding pulsating bass, driving appegio, all while allowing the bump of the original to keeping pushing things on, it's a perfect introduzione.
This is followed by Inflagranti's inspired retake of the deeper vibes of Aura. A huge favourite of the label, the Swiss team keep the bass and dam' funk, but head straight for the autoban to
create an old school NYC electro-dub style remix. A matured cruiser that keeps the swing, it all leads to those strings and Eastern flavours gliding over for the perfect finale.
Things head darker on the reverse, with Tel Aviv's shinning stars Red Axes, maning the controls for the scatter bounce of Indecis for the stand out remix. Twisted vocals, brooding FX and reversed guitar all atop a mesmeric kick, things just keeps going higher and higher.
Finally The Quiet Before The Red Stop is passed on to a name for the future, Selvy. With appearances on Polish Cut Outs and a recent EP for Transatlantyk, here he takes the 'Balearic'
grooves of the original adding some club bumpin' bottom end and kick while maintaining a lightness for the White Isles. A perfect way to round off. Watch the skies (and basements).
