Born in the early 60s as 'Herr Mussita e i Nomadi' by initiative from bassist / singer Franco Mussita, the group soon altered its name to 'Nomadi' until, not to clash with the namesakes of the famous authors of 'Dio è morto', they eventually and permanently changed into 'I Raminghi'.

Under this name the band began to play several stage and even TV appearances, and in the wake of a growing success they finally managed to record and release their only LP in 1971. The typical vehemence of their live performances is perhaps only partly transferred on the album tracks, but "Il lungo cammino dei Raminghi" is still a remarkable job, packed with beat, psychedelic, progressive and folk music, which certainly impressed the lucky ones who were able to listen to it at the time of its release.

This album was in fact printed in very few copies, and is now among the rarest items of the early seventies Italian scene. Already reissued by Vinyl Magic in a CD papersleeve version, which is now out of print, "Il lungo cammino..." is now proposed in a faithful reproduction of the original release, with a 30x30cm mini-poster and a completely unheard song, "Non Farlo"!

Poland's Father And Son Records And Tapes present first proper outing from label boss Maciek Sienkiewicz - three heavily edited tunes from different periods of popular music history. "The White Sheik" turns an obscure 80s Eastern Bloc groove into a full-on modern disco stormer, while "No Shit Sherlock" is 70s Brazilian fusion redux. Finally, the title track turns first few notes of one massive pop hit from '02 into hypnotic, entrancing journey in the vein of Terry Riley or Philip Glass. Italoconnection sees his second release. Two unreleased songs full of pure 80's italodisco
flavour, with the addiction of the vocal performance by Annabel together with the
great nu-disco touch of Italoconnection (Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti).

The Chic production sound must be one of the most distinctive in disco, soul, funk... or pop music generally. Back when I was listening to commercial radio as a music-mad teenager in 1979/80, their records were omnipresent on the airwaves. It seemed that when one of their own songs just dropped out of the hit parade, it was replaced by a production for another act - be it Diana Ross, Sheila & B. Devotion or Sister Sledge - it was a constant stream of hits. When I heard songs like Norma Jean's 'High Society' (a solo release from one of Chic's singers) blasting out my transistor radio, I knew straight away it was an Edwards & Rogers production, their style was so instantly recognizable. Firstly the playing and sound of both the guitar and bass was a giveaway, along with the precise vocal phrasing, rippling piano and discreet string parts. If it was the 12" mix then the bass breakdown and slow instrumental build up in the second half of the record was also part of the blueprint. Generally, Chic songs eschewed ad-libs or long solos; the style is more defined with each instrument having an exact placing - including the vocals.

Records like 'Good Times' and 'We Are Family' weren't just big club hits - yes, they were massive on dance floors but they were also pop crossovers all around the world. What was noticeable to me back then was even the rock guys I was friendly with (who generally despised disco) quietly liked Chic and admired their rock solid playing and grooves. I guess the best music has this universal appeal, from the casual listener who knows nothing about the fine details of song writing and production right through to the hardcore muso players who hear and appreciate its intricacies.

Of course, with all this worldwide chart success came a lot of emulators who were inspired by Chic's stylish image, immaculately produced records and of course their commercial success. The period we are focusing on is toward the end of the disco era; so many producers were ditching the faster octave bassline euro disco style and looking for a new sound that was both club and radio-friendly. I've no idea how many records featured basslines inspired by 'Good Times', it was a game-changing groove, so it's probably in the 1000s. The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" and Queen's 'Another One Bites The Dust' are maybe the most obvious examples in terms of commercial success - however, for this compilation, I wanted to dig a bit deeper and collect together some lesser-known songs which owe at least a modicum of their inspiration to Edwards and Rogers.

Italy's producer duo Mario Malavasi and Jaques Fred Petrus were highly influenced by Chic when they rebranded themselves as Change. Their debut single and UK pop hit 'A Lovers' Holiday', with its unison group vocal, was a dead ringer for the Chic sound and even used some of the same N.Y. session players. Throughout the early '80s there were many records that utilised a similar style of chord progression, obviously Nile-esque guitar, or that tight-tracked, clipped and histronic-free female vocal.

It may seem ridiculous now but Chic got quite a rough ride in the press at points, thanks to their instantly recognizable records' success, as well as a general hostility towards disco. Personally, I never tired of their music, but there were comments about "the formula wearing thin" and "it all sounds the same". I think we can definitely say the critics have been proved wrong - turn on any Saturday night dance radio show and you'll no doubt hear a few of their songs. Disco has become the "Motown" of our current era, the music that unifies generations at weddings or office parties.

"We Are Family" is up there with the greatest disco albums of all time, containing the title track, "Lost In Music", "Thinking of You" and "He's The Greatest Dancer". Chic productions continue to be sampled in modern dance music - I was out at a "Nu-Disco"-type night last year and heard 3 tracks during the evening based around their songs. Recently, Chic have been back on the road and their legacy as one of the greatest acts of the era has been cemented.

The idea that France once had a genius and let him go to California where he was more welcome and appreciated than in Paris is, in the digital area, a trivial issue. Every single Web entrepreneur heads towards the Silicon Valley to develop his ideas. During the 70's, this was less ordinary. Back then, it was another area, music, which witnessed the departure of a very talented guy for the United States, a country that quickly understood he was a star. Marc Cerrone, a trained drummer and disco phenomenon who sold more albums than many other artists put together, saw his career magnified by America but also slightly twisted by France which quickly reduced him to a style, disco music, without trying to understand who he was and how relevant his talent was. His path went through two phases, two complementary moves. The Golden Touch released by the end of the seventies claims the birth of a all dico movement, and its composer is one of the spiritual father

The first years, from his first album in 1976 to his 7th in the middle of the 80's, were fuelled with an exemplary sense of creativity and a free-spirit vision. Against everyone's advice, Cerrone was never reluctant to compose long and pure trance disco tracks, not exactly radio-friendly at the time, but which did incredibly well because they encapsulated the hedonism of the day and were far more than a trend. For Instance, Love In C Minor' and Supernature' have become unbeatable classics, featured regularly in the best pop, disco or dance selections... Such a success would have burnt most of the others' wings, whose career would have been ruined. At the beginning of the 80's, when he decided to unleash his creativity on stage, Cerrone managed to rebound with ' You Are the One ' studio album.

As Benedikt Rugar's superbly illustrated cover art for the recent CockTail D'Amore compilation Nothing Matters When We're Dancing proved, the Berlin collective proudly celebrate their status as a forum for Berlin's gay community to fully express themselves. With no releases on the label since that compilation arrived in January, Discodromo and DJ Boris have now unveiled a sister operation with a focus on edits under the wonderful name CockRing D'Amore. The debut release features contributions from label regular Massimiliano Pagliara, the unheralded Trent and founders Discodromo - words Juno Plus.

Although no major company wanted to pick up 'Let's Go - It's Summertime', and 'Jody's Freeze' By James Reese and The Progressions or 'Throwing Stones' and 'Gee Whiz' by Marlene King, James felt that what he had written and arranged was unique. Therefore he continued to write, using Jazz chords and progressions along with some occasional classical motifs and mixed those elements with danceable rhythms.
*( Concerning 'Let's Go - It's Summertime' Many of the major labels that James talked with in New York said that his writing was "way ahead of my time", and they wasnt wrong!!!
James Reese was a Public School Band Director during those years, and during his breaks and in the band room he would sit down at the piano and work on ideas for songs. Also, Rosalyn Foster (a college student with a strong voice) had joined The Progressions in the early seventies and James quickly began to write with her voice in mind.
By spring break of 1972 we were ready to go to Memphis, Tenn. We didn't have a drummer who could make the trip (Willie Hill, AKA B. Hill had moved to LA, California) so James hired a drummer when he arrived.. His name was Willie Hall, one of the Bar Kays drummers and he flowed with us instantly. James remembers recording at night, and then staying up during the daytime working on the string parts.
Here is the second lot of songs, from the reels we found last year. Its almost criminal to think these two beautifully crafted soul songs, where musicians have put all their time and efforts into, were shelved because so called executives thought them "ahead of their time"

Wish Key was an Italo Disco group formed by the husband/wife duo of Manlio Cangelli and Lorella Ghilardi in Milan.Their first single 'Orient Express' was released in 1983 by Discomagic Records. 'Orient Express' begins with a rolling baseline, bright synthesizer stabs, and a sampled train siren. The double-tracked male/female vocals compliment each other perfectly, heightening the dramatic tension. The breakdown introduces synthesized steel drums and Spanish guitar, for a touch of tropical melancholia.

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from
latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts. Summer of My Life joins newcomer and alumnus; Closed Paradise and B.G. Baarregaard. The title is a cheeky reference that sidesteps youthful sentiment with a nod towards middle age. B.G. establishes the mood with his impeccable balance of sample and synthesis with the loopy, upbeat Astarjatning and the carefree, balearic Astargardurinn. Closed Paradise produces original disco with sheer panache weaving Sample and groove with slight melancholic tones across Breakin' Down and Wolf Sisters. Whiskey Disco #40 exemplifies our roots And future, a constant evolution of modern disco and vintage edits.

Stepping up for the first release is an artist we know only as 'Junior', on ' drums, poems and small instruments' as the introduction to the lead track tells us. 'Junior Love' is an exercise in dance-floor tension, with a looped ``O`latin breakdown teasing for almost too long, before building to the point of climax and then letting it slip away. Tantalising. Dangerous

On the B side we are treated to a high intensity afro-brasillian drum freakout before moving to something different all together, in the form of 'Ohh, Junior!', a floating, lysergic mantra, which gently fizzes with psychedelic tribal energy.

The Leipzig based producer first came to the attention of the label after he dropped the outstanding 'Pan That Shit Out' EP on Manna All Night. Here the open minded producer showcases a different side to his production style with two surefire edits that will work wonders wherever they're played.
Pitched down and spaced out, 'Soldier' on the A side is an edit of a politically charged Nigerian anthem. This slow burner keeps you locked in with instantly recognisable keys, subtle guitar licks and a rolling bass line that will even make the stiffest necks nod in solidarity.'Harlem' takes you back to a sun-soaked day with this classic 1970s NYC soul anthem dedicated to the road that loops around the north tip of Manhattan. Jascha takes the jazz-funk anthem and adds extra instrumentation to create a subtle 2015 update...

Superb reissue of an amazing lost boogie gem from 1981 hailing from Sweden, an unlikely hub of funk excellence in the early 80s. Originally released on tiny label Newlock, both sides of this 12' are fantastic - side A's Supercool is a tight funky workout with laidback vocals and a super-summery feel while Side B's Percussion Sundance more than lives up to its cult Balearic reputation, with six minutes of blissed-out soaring synths, heavy syncopated percussion and smooth bass combining to create one of the hottest things ever to come out of Scandinavia. You must have this!

Following an acclaimed release on Ancient Monarchy and ahead of his debut for Blackest Ever Black, Rhythmic Theory returns to Idle Hands for the third time. 'Future Tense' channels the spirit of era defining mid-90s DnB but twists it with a contemporary techno feel. A contemporary of Livity Sound and Hodge, Rhythmic Theory's music sits closely to theirs but with a distinct sound palette all of his own. Never one to seek the limelight he has been working behind the scenes in the West Country music scene for many years, only now getting the recognition he deserves. The same could be said of our choice of remixer, DJ October - who here turns in a killer version of the original in the shape of 'Death Is Certain Dub'. A long time friend of Idle Hands, both the label and shop he really was overdue an appearance on the imprint. In fact, a little known fact is that were it not for a colossal hard drive failure many moons ago he would have appeared on one of our first releases. These things have a way of working themselves out eventually.

The British crooner du jour opens this slow-burn, piano-soul monster with "'Cause it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand" like he knows the line is money in the bank (which, c'mon, it is). Then the gospel choir backs him up like it's Memphis '67. If ninth-graders still made mixtapes for their crushes, this would be on all of them. Absolutely unique talent, great song, great artist, and a great batch of remixes on this vinyl.

New 12' from Greg Wilson's Super Weird Substance label

Joey Negro is the most well-known pseudonym of master British DJ/producer/remixer Dave Lee. Under a plethora of other monikers including Jakatta, Akabu, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band, Sessomatto, and Z Factor, Dave was one of the first artists to incorporate disco samples in house music when he began his production career in 1988.

His discography is undoubtedly as impressive as his knowledge of seminal house and disco, and now Joey/Dave puts it to good use with this album; a revisit to some of disco's most sparkly moments.

Rather than remixes in their modern definition this is a body of re-edits with the tracks given a new dimension to make them relevant and playable now. In many cases he has changed the drums, added percussion and sometimes keyboard parts but not totally ditched the music and started again as is often the way with straight up house remixes. This project is about utilising some of those fantastic original parts in a different way hat takes advantage of many of the songs classic status subtly teasing in familiar elements and dubbing them out.
LP Part A:

Poland's Father And Son Records And Tapes presents another stellar release from the man Das Komplex. Side A brings us two remixes from his much sought-after debut EP "Nowadays": first one is dreamy "Like A Fish", here treated by Norwegian disco legend Rune Lindbaek together with his partner Helene Rickhard. They extend the ambient intro, which is followed by super-catchy bass and drums, slowly adding guitars for maximum uplifting effect, a true Balearic anthem. Next, the space-disco duo U-Ka turn "Siren" into a full-on slo-mo bass-heavy club hit, with shuffling rhythms and distorted vocal samples, definitely one for the dancefloor. Side B bring the title track, a new gem from Das Komplex, apparently designed to tear apart the clubs worldwide: a 16-minutes long monster of a tune, seamlessly melting deep house, disco and new wave into a completely new and original quality - not to mention a vocal sample taken from some obscure Polish record. Another sure shot for Das Komplex!

Copenhagen label Music For Dreams is on fire at the moment with an excellent string of releases from 55 Cancri E, Golden Ivy, DJ Pippi, Leo Mas and Jacob Gurevitsch to name just a few and this new vinyl is no exception.
Greek producers Bonnie & Klein established themselves last year with tracks such 'Beautiful City' and 'Total Blue', both well on the way to becoming new Balearic classics. Embracing Mediterranean influences, the duo have created their own distinctive sound - soft electronic rhythms blend with horizontal textures to create a fragile balance of space for the listener's mind while delivering beats for the beaches. The opener 'Magnolia' shows their 90s Cafe Del Mar / Double Fantasy influence - slow percussion with cinematic strings on a relaxed beat make this a sure fire winner already receiving maximum support from the likes of Leo Mas, Moonboots and Jon Sa Trinxa. After completing a hat trick of essential releases with "Seaside Tune", Russia's king of lilting melodies, coastal flavours and sunkissed sounds returns with his latest must have release. Back once again on his own Mellophonia imprint, A Vision Of Panorama invites us aboard his luxury yacht for a carefree journey across the ocean. Opening with the animalistic chatter of the Brazilian cuica and a chirping synth melody, "Two Birds" instantly transports us to tropical climes where the breeze plays among the palm trees and the clear waters kiss the white sand. Title track "New Horizons" sees the tempo drop to a languid strut as the fretless bassline takes our dancing bodies under its control. The bright tuned percussion, misty pads and mystical woodwind offer light and shade at the top end, while that Balearic beat should keep the dancefloor moving. As we follow the suns arc onto the B-side, A Vision Of Panorama turns up the heat and the tempo for the beachside proto-house peach "Coastal Waves". The deep and warm...

It's been a while, 17 years, to be precise since Bernd Kunz, also known as AFMB, released an album. After its release in 1997, A Forest Mighty Black's "Mellowdramatic", became a trip-hop classic. It followed several 12's that Kunz released on Compost Records, including Compost's 001, "Fresh In My Mind'. "Mellowdramatic' included tracks like "Rebirth' and "Everything' and highlighted Kunz's love for the melancholic shades of music.

In the years that followed, Kunz quietly drifted away from his trip-hop roots and during this time he moved from the Black Forest capital Freiburg to Zurich, Switzerland, where he got more in touch with house music again (before his trip-hop days he was an avid acid house and garage addict). After meeting Drumpoet's label boss Alex Dallas and his 'Earthbound' buddy Alex Gustafson at the cities' most famous house club "Zukunft', it was clear what had to be done - they started to explore the deeper aspects of house as "The Lost Men'. Encouraged by the resonance of their output, Kunz followed up with solo work on Drumpoet. The 12"s "Backup Days' and "In My Life' featuring the singer Geraldine Roth (who is also featured on the new album) showed his love of 90's house, especially the Underground Resistance sound. After all those club-orientated releases he got more and more interested to find out what could happen when looking beyond the dancefloor without neglecting the basic ingredient of house-music, the 'four on the floor' bass drum. He started to cross his house explorations with the vast trip-hop experiences and it soon became clear, that the fusion of the two genres was the key to the special mood he was looking to set.

One of the first results that can be found on the album was "Suite For B-Boy', a reflective 120 BPM tune, with a typical AFMB, Larry Heard influenced piano line, followed by "A Tribute', that could easily be declared as slow house. But one can also find much more trip-hop sounding songs on the record, with "Jade Knights, 2' where Kunz plays with his own past quite heavily, but tastefully.

While working on those three tracks, he suddenly realized that he had started to create a blueprint of a new LP without knowing. The major aim during the three-year long production was to explore all possible facets of this genre clash and to finish a timeless, gadget-free piece of music, that the listener can travel through. AFMB provides twelve new and previously unreleased tracks with his latest Drumpoet release and proves his "Black Forest' heart still beats.

If you're going to have an experience, it might as well be a luxury one. Lux Experience is a mysterious Norwegian producer, who presents us with a selection of steamy late night disco re-edits dripping in luxury, trawling his vinyl collection for the choicest sample material. The shimmering disco boogie of "Doin it" is a tribute to one of Norway's longest living club nights, "Dance Dance Dance" is a cover, not an edit, of the classy Chic classic and finally "U Can't Hide" is a vintage vocal disco gem.

MAJOR LANCE must surely be one of the most collectable artists to have graced the Northern Soul scene with a catalogue of quality records dating back to 1958. It is from his incredible run of 18 Okeh R&B hits that we take our back-to-back classics: Investigate' and It's The Beat', both from the golden year of soul 1966 and both produced by country music mystro Billy Sherrill. It was Sherrill's Chicago-tinged treatment of The Beat' that took Lance back into the charts reaching #37 R&B and earning him a slot on Dick Clark's TV special Where The Action Is.

For the sixth release on People Must Jam, we headed to Poland to find two very special guys that make up Ptaki.
Ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album Przelot those ripples have turned to waves. We are proud to announce their new record - Antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal!
Ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied EP with four different cuts. Kicking off with the crazy uptempo Hi-NRG disco cut Milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous Balearic territory of Termy. This blew us all away when we first heard it.
On the flip Lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the EP ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant Radio Roman.
We are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record.

It's all in the arpeggios as Jori headlines with 'Something Left To Learn' an homage to italo disco in both sound design and methodology. Written almost exclusively using the rare Italian made Solton Programmer 24 (1985), he turns out an authentic moody original of groovy electronic bleeps, disco drums and emotive pads whilst featuring some heavily effected vocals of his own!

The first 12" on Bad Passion Project's Not An Animal Records imprint comes from Correspondant and Hivern Discs regular Man Power. He impresses from the off, unveiling the strobe-lit Italo chug, spacey synths and '80s electronics of "Power Theme". The Italo-disco influences are also noticeable on the stripped-back electronic grooves and Balearic guitar flourishes of flipside "Le Clerc". While both of these tracks are decent, it's the accompanying remixes that really make the EP stand out from the crowd. The Ess O Ess remix of "Power Theme" - complete with shuffling Balearic breakbeats and stretched-out, starlight breakdown - is particularly potent, while The Backwoods' remix of "Le Clerc" turns a largely dark and woozy cut into a flash of sun-kissed Balearic disco bliss.

After several go-to 12s on the always reliable Let's Get Lost series, the mysterious Marvin & Guy drop their first On The Prowl release! First up is "Estacy" with driving percussion and a string driven groove that keeps building with subtle drops and hits. Marcos Cabral takes it into deeper territory with his heavy remix, definitely pushing the bottom end for the big room where it should be heard. On the flip we have "Moon Import," a moody rhodes driven vocal track with panning synths to get you in a daze. Then some upbeat disco house with "Shot Me" - a perfect track for your next loft party.

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams continues to fly the flag for Balearic madness with this quality four-track EP. 'Charité' is the result of a jam session between two young Danes, Mads and Frederik, and is without doubt a future classic, with demand building strongly since its first plays on label boss Kenneth Bager's Ibiza Sonica radio show. In the style of Max Berlin (yes that good!), with French spoken vocals, Spanish guitars, floating bongos and a warm bassline, this is a real monster of a record. Legendary Balearic pioneer Phil Mison heard an early mix and his exact words were "This is good, no, this is really really good!" - don't miss. Mads Dalholt pops up again on Side B with "Balearica" a cut he made with fellow Danes Dj Zimino and Dj Djek. This does what is says on the tin - smooth and rolling bass, 70ties Hammond keys, deep and mysterious voices creating an incessant groove which meld various styles and influences in a hippie spirit. The other artist featured is Troels Hammer, a composer and piano player who delivers two short compositions "Azur" and "Birdy" both oozing that melancholic sunset vibe we love from the golden Cafe Del Mar era. Both tracks are taken from his forthcoming debut album "Troels Hammer", also to be released on Music For Dreams. Limited vinyl.

The prolific Lay-Far has had a string of stunning 12's over the past few years and nothing seems to be stopping him either.
Not only having a big range and depth as a producer Lay-Far is also a killer DJ and always sneaks in a few of his own edits in his DJ sets.

On 'Secret Weapons' Lay-Far presents three tracks that celebrate an era of when disco, jazz, afro and rare groove ruled the dance floors.
First up is 'Quality Hours' which to us is the perfect nugget for the early afternoon, mid-day session or late night summer parties.

Vice&Virtue is the collective vision of Mark Caramelli & Paul Hargreaves. They have been releasing & playing together to audiences worldwide under their Death on the Balcony moniker for 6 years now. Over this time they have notched up releases on esteemed labels such as Culprit, Pets Recordings, Smoke N Mirrors & Silver Network. With a wealth of unreleased music themselves plus all the other great artists who were sending material to them, starting their own imprint seemed like the next natural step.

The west coast cosmic vibe of KingCats 'Down In California' was one of the highlights of 2012's Magik Cyrkles compilation with an edit cut by Albion. Fantastic remastered reissue of the highly collectable 1977 original UK Ice Records release 'Nobody's Got Time' / 'Timewarp'. Produced by Eddy Grant and performed by the in-house band of his Coach House recording studio, side B's groundbreaking instrumental 'Time Warp' is the absolute must-have here. This deep and minimal track takes you on weird reggae-tinged psychedelic disco journey and is hailed as a seminal early proto-house classic popular in Chicago as well as being huge in NY at Mancuso's Loft, Paradise Garage etc. With its unmistakable falsetto riff, tweaky synths and a walloping bassline, this truly is a timeless electronic weapon! Side A's 'Nobody's Got Time' is more of the same but layered with Eddy's great gravelly soulful Caribbean vocals - super funky. Do not miss this!!

Ouh, groove it, baby! Bappi Lahiri is a very busy composer, conductor and music director for the so called 'Bollywood' scene, the Indian factory of dreams from where the one or another movie even reached our European shores and generated a cult following. 'Kasam paida karnewale ki' is a 1984 movie I have never heard about before but the soundtrack comes as colorful and interesting as Indian 80s pop-disco-funk can be. Even Bappi Lahiri finally surrendered to electronic music but still puts it into a rather traditional 70s soul / funk context with some Indian flavors added. A melody here, native tongue lyrics sung in a way that mixed up pop and Indian folk music, a sound effect like typical Indian string sections there and the result is a beautiful ethno pop album with an utterly haunting groove which originates from the funk, soul and disco elements a dancefloor queen like Donna Summer would kill for. There are always enough regular instruments such as guitars, sitars, trumpets and bass guitar to keep a fan of handmade music interested. The vocal melodies have a lascivious expression at times just as it was typical for the late 70s black disco music which gets fused with classical Indian harmonies to create a captivating atmosphere. Bappi Lahiri knows fairly well how to work out his tunes to make them everlasting hits. This record is certainly all about dancing and will turn even the most lame living room sit in into a steaming hot sexadelic dance party if you throw this onto your turntable and crank it up. The music is vivid and emanates an enormous vitality that will drag you from your chair and makes you float across the floor like a dervish. Lush arrangements of strings, brass, guitar, synthesizers and vocals capture your soul and enwrap your spirit. If you could imagine Patrick Hernandez ('Born to be alive') would go Indian and still appreciate it, this would be yours for sure. It is exotic to my ears but the catchiness of the melodies and song structures and the furious but still professional execution though makes it an utter joy to listen and move to even for an old rock aficionado like me. Wild and wonderful.

The proceedings open in superb style thanks to The Revenge's Live Dub. A bass heavy tool with equal parts classic house and disco, with a touch of Arthur Baker-style drums. On A2, Sleazy McQueen's Space Coast take things to the basement with the help of Romano Arcaini (Latenight Society), warm rhodes, live bass and an absolute drum-break-freakout add a decidedly different dub flavor to the package.

Since then John has become a kind of special feature of Bad Boys Blue. "Love Is No Crime' has two hit-singles: 'Charlene', a song from the repertoire of Roxanne, another Tony Hendrik and Karin Hartmann artist, and, of course, the classic title track.

The Homesick team have broken into Marquis Hawkes secret vault and dug up four great edits that have had great responses from his public during the past few months. Now available on a solid 180g records meticulously mastered to sound as awesome and modern as they were when they first got released.

The people behind the amazing Mareh festival in Brasil (the Southern Hemisphere's answer to Electric Elephant), drop yet more top drawer music as their label journey continues to gain strength. The opener is a majestic track from The Caribbean House, side project of Billy Bogus teamed up with Federico Bologna, from seminal Technogod and Ohmega Tribe project, and Cristiano Santini, from legendary italian act Disciplinatha. What came out is an outstanding blend of new wave & slow motion disco, strictly for midnight vultures.

Fake Congas is a spin off project by Robotalco (Sebastiano Urciuoli) and Mouth (Luca Fontaneto), bringing all their childhood memories to life again with some analog machines and an internet connection. Lots of references to old house, soft pads breezy synths and a very distinctive touch from two of the most underrated names in the italian panorama for what might be the new sound in a stale scene. Jot their name down now before it is too late.

Two Thousand is the stage name of italian born-berlin based artist Luca Murgia, already known to some for some dope releases and tracks in the past. Here he shows a very interesting concept that gels perfectly with the music, for what we might call a very sophisticated rendition of the new house music of the years to come. Modern crispy production skills serve a very growing and mid paced music that can be equally satisfying in a club or in your headphones.

Mouth is Luca Fontaneto, very reserved producer with some releases on cult labels like Mad On The Moon and Backyard Recs. He keeps doing what he always did. Weird, Out of tune with the industry House music that is going to be understood posthumous, as all geniuses.

The COUGH & DROP EP is a various artists reworks EP with a Ronnie Turner and Edgar moon collab on the ace Robertas Slack single and then Ronnie digs out two killer cuts, the first being Chucks Back reworking Chuck Brown and the soul searchers Borrero e sombero and the second is the very rare Ashphalt jungle track Freaky Time which has been tweaked up a bit strictly for groovers.

We are sure this EP will be doing some serious dance floor damage in the months to come...

Inspired by cartoon and movie soundtracks, the largely instrumental album explores classic dance and pop music traditions. Catchy, repetitive vocal hooks gel with beats and synth work influenced by house, techno, French electronic, and '90s hip-hop production.

Bundick made the album over two years and recorded everything in his home studio.The funky 'Why' features vocals from Berkeley, Calif. singer-songwriter Nate Salman asking 'Why you wanna go and do that' 'Bother' holds down a head-bobbing, body-moving groove until a stunning hallelujah moment straight out of a sci-fi version of Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. While there are no concrete themes associated with the album, Chaz says he can imagine all of these songs playing in the middle of the brilliantly lighted and busy Ginza district in Tokyo.Touchstones like Timbaland, Mr. Oizo, and Daft Punk, and contemporaries such as Motor City Drum Ensemble offered inspiration, but most influential on the making of the album was the sage advice of a design icon. 'My favorite graphic designer, P. Rand always said, 'Don't try to be original, just try to be good,'' Bundick says. 'When making this record that was/is my mantra—it was just constantly looping in my mind. I believe 'good' is timeless and once you can recognize that you'll see the world in its fullest.'Michael follows a 12' on Carpark Records and two singles for Jiaolong. The LP is the first release on Company Records, a new label partnership between Chaz and Carpark.

This is his first compilation since 2011's Good Times 30th Anniversary Addition and follows on from his hotly anticipated Good Times Goes East party at St John Church at Hackney on 29th August.
Norman Jay is undoubtedly one of the finest and highly respected DJs in the world today and yet again pulls from his impressive collection to provide the ultimate eclectic selection.
For this 12th compilation, for those of you counting, Norman kicks off with St Germain's version of Henry Mancini's Pink Panther Theme. A cult favourite from 2004s Pink Panther Penthouse Party album, it of course immediately brings Peter Sellers to mind and a smile to your face. Next up former Uniques front man Slim Smith's Everybody Needs Love is a classic from 1968, cut at the legendary Duke Reid's Treasure Isle studio. Penned originally by Motown heroes Norman Whitfield and Eddie Holland and covered by household names including The Temptations and Glady's Knight & The Pips, Slim's version became something of a signature tune until his mysterious death in 1971. Sticking with Motown, Stevie Wonder's Living For The City is up next but it's the Michael McDonald rendition from his 2008 album Soul Speak, which proves the man who gave us the sublime Sweet Freedom had lost none of his class 20 plus years on.
D-Influence's Good Lover takes things up and brings them closer to home, to the streets of London infact. After a couple of independent releases the band, who had strong connections to the London Jazz and Soul scenes, served up this contemporary boogie tune as part of their 1992 debut long player for East West. They would subsequently score hits as a production team for a number of British R&B acts. Homegrown soul continues with Paul Johnson's Better Than This, released here via longstanding UK soul imprint Expansion to deserved acclaim last year. It's quality and appeal are simply timeless, whilst master Dego and Kaidi's mix adds a classic 80s soul dimension to proceedings.
The Chi-Lites I Keep Comin' Back To You and The Real Thing's Love Takes Tears continue and expand the 80s theme, bringing in 2-step and boogie, as does Deodato's Never Knew Love from the same period.
We switch again with Delroy Wilson's Better Must Come, a massively popular sufferers lament from 1971 by this former Jamaican child star, it would go on to be used in election campaigns by various Jamaican political parties. Kent People by Laurel Aitken & The Gruvy Beat is the next one out the box and was the flip to the 1969 anthem Skinhead Train. It features the UK's top reggae band of the era The Rudies, who along with Aitken, the widely-proclaimed Godfather of Ska, comprised of Earl Dunn (lead guitar), Trevor White (bass), Sonny Binns (keyboards) and Danny Smith (drums). They would go on to enjoy UK chart success backing singer Freddie Notes before they evolved into Greyhound. From the same year Splash Down by The Crystalites is another slate that ignited dance floors in both Jamaica and the UK upon release. Some of you will have noticed the rhythm track is the same as that of the earlier Kingstonians' best-seller, Sufferer, which came courtesy of legendary producer Derrick Harriott.
As the end draws close The Stone City Band featuring Rick James serve up some hard edged boogie, hotly followed by a classic Tom Moulton slice of late 70s disco courtesy of The Fantastic Four and their I Got To Have Your Love. If that doesn't have you dancing then Chanson's superb Don't Hold Back featuring James Jamerson Jr. on bass will leave you no choice. Classic Good Times indeed.

Especial is proud to announce a special release with 2 official remixes of the seminal afro-cosmic classic. With a nod to both the future and past, remixes come from NYC's drum-loop champ, Justin Van Der Volgen and is backed perfectly with Dusseldorf's mysterious tribal exponents, The Durian Brothers. When given the original masters by founder member Stefan Krachten, the conundrum was how to handle music that is a timeless classic. Most associated with the afro-cosmic scene, Masimbabele has actually been staple of DJs across the globe, so the remixes should look forward not not just back. Added to this, the recent sad passing of both Stefan and vocalist Reebop Kwaku Baah and the project has added poignancy. Therefore, the two artists asked to do 2015 remix updates were personal favourites of the label and also, capable of doing justice some 30 years after it was recorded. As a DJ, producer and remixer wunderkind, Justin Van Der Volgen's releases on the likes of Golf Channel, ESP Institute and TBD, plus killer remixes of !!!, Soft Rocks and most recently his doubleheader Todd Terje reworks, meant it was a must to have him involved on this project. Harking the original in many ways, his remix is a perfect homage. A crucial key change, plus subtle loops and arrangment make the right moves, allowing the instruments to build and build to the infamous horns and scat vocals interplay and on to crescendo. As a double A side, bringing The Durian Brothers in was the perfect foil. An art-music project, the band has released a series of EPs on their own Diskant label to cult appreciation. A big influence on how parent label Emotional Response was formed, the secretive trio have been drawn out to work with on their only ever remix, for a song that is an influential and important song in their own make up. To this end the band wanted to create a version that sees them jamming live with the original musicians, including a young Dominik Von Senger on guitar. Eschewing the vocals, the remix merges the Brothers poly-rhythmic percussion with the African influenced swing, guitar chops and horn stabs of the original. A perfect jam between the bands, but some 3 decades apart. Hope you enjoy.

We've reached the end. This is as far as the story tells the final recording by the artist(s) that kickstarted the Omena LTD series with the mini-album '1' early 2015.
Back in 1992, after extensive recording sessions, several releases albums that never pleased the major label and touring that led the members to become less friends and more enemies an unanimous decision led the members to put everything on hold.The final track ever recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was 'Paus' or as the late South African-born American recording engineer Phil Ramone described it - their masterpiece.
Listening back to the session it's evident the band was heading in a new direction, heavily inspired by Daniel Lanois and Sonia Pottinger. The use of horns, the synth bass and the way the drummer ties everything together is exceptional.
Due to the success with the two previous releases on OMLTD, the band decided to give the recording to Tooli but not only that, they also re-recorded some parts late 2014 (hence the name 141201). What you have here is something truly special and may or may not be the comeback everyone is waiting for.
