Michael Mayer is one of the leading German tastemakers in dance music and his DJ sets have influenced a generation (or two) of musicians and fans.As an artist, Mayer remains tirelessly motivated to DJing, in the studio or behind his desk at KOMPAKT, the label he co-owns. His recording career spans four albums, 23 EP's, nearly 170 remixes and the legendary DJ mixes for fabric and Immer. '&' is his third full-length, a passionate and personal album that speaks as broadly as his DJ sets - embracing his genre-busting love for music, rhythm and atmosphere - and the dancefloor in front of him. '&' is the rare manifest of an established artist who is willing to risk it all and challenge himself, and the world around him. 12 tracks, 12 single narratives coming from a group of very individual minds orchestrated by Michael Mayer - the DJ, artist, A&R but most importantly, obsessed music lover. Michael describes the process of curating and creating '&' as a constant battle between his three alter egos but 'the obsessed music lover has had the final say.' As diverse as they are, all the tracks that result from this long and winding road create a cohesive story and present the elasticity of Mayer's musical galaxy. Michael gladly leaves it to the rest of the scene to discuss the different grey shapes of club culture. For him there is only one club culture - a playful and open-minded one that's easy to comprehend after you hear ‚&'.

Sweden's Kvalia Records, an all-vinyl affair, continues on its path towards becoming a key player in delivering deep, psychedelic techno. For its 5th edition the label invites Psyk and Anthony Linell to join forces. "About Time" consists of two smooth, melancholic originals by Psyk and one pumping, icy remix signed Anthony Linell.

Non series turned 10 years last December since its inception in 2011. And we celebrate it with this great, deep, minimalistic, forceful, lethal compilation from friends and artists of the label.

Hope you guys enjoy this special release as much as we did programming it and producing it.

And thanks to the overwhelming support since the very beginning to our costumers, record shops, digital platforms, artists, technicians, engineers, designers and our beloved distributor (News) for making all of this possible.

DOWNFALL is the first album under the name SAITO created by Lena Saito, aka Galcid, and produced by accomplished analog synthesizer guru, Hisashi Saito, aka Lena’s husband. Having descended from a long line of Japanese sword-smiths, the industrial sound of smashing steel is embedded in Lena’s DNA and reflected in her music, however there are also refined, hypnotic tones showing a side with more finesse. The music itself is not scored and is predominantly improvised. Words and vocals are ad libbed as well. Sometimes the machines respond as if through telekinesis, altogether emitting a sound which can be categorized somewhere in the range between modern experimental dance music and something possibly making more sense to enlightened minds a thousand years in the future.

There is a new addition to the forge of talents of Mille Plateaux, a Japanese musician by the name of Saito whose album has been released on the label under the title of Downfall. After a whole series of releases under the signature tag clicks & cuts, there comes out a work, much more suited for a dance hall, that is different in terms of the genre from everything that has been published so far.
Like a bucket of ice-cold water poured over the head, erratic agressive hardcore rhythms pour all over the audience in the first track, interrupted only by grinding noises and minimalistic technogenic clicks.
Downfall won't fail to infect even the most experienced music connaisseur with its out-of-control energy, while offering a wide range of techniques: at times, robotic voices, one second long fragments of looped melodies and many other audio gimmicks.
Lena Saito (that is the author's name) is not afraid of conducting experiments in her chemical laboratory, freely mixing sound reagents without taking any precautions. It feels like, this new chemical substance, that she has been working on so thoroughly, contains quite a long list of ingredients, although its main component is the various rhythm breaks.
The synthesizer part of Red Hammer sounds in the best traditions of the acid style, and the rhythm section is akin to African tribal dances of the future. Downfall is absolutely unrelenting in its concept.
The melody of the composition Nucleosome is a little bit like the melancholic IDM of the 00s, finding itself secondary to the dominating, yet again convoluted rhythmical web meticulously woven by Saito.
This album can be definitely named as a big contender aspiring to start a new golden era of Mille Plateaux, and Saito as the hidden treasure of the label that can challenge even the veterans for the right to be the headliner.

Emerging DJ and producer Yemi brings the soulful groovers to the Time Is Now white label series.

Having already received support from the likes of UKG mainstays Sammy Virji, Conducta and Smokey Bubblin' B during his relatively youthful career, Yemi is certainly an artist to watch. For justification, look no further than the vibrant, uplifting 6-track EP which combines luscious vocals and blissful piano chords to create a sound which is at once nostalgic and fiercely forward-facing.

Its two opening tracks get things off to a buoyant start, with a bouncing 4x4 rhythm and the syrup-smooth vocals of emerging artist and long-time friend, Bria Keely. Pair these with rattling bongos on "Never Let You Go" and the gleeful trumpets of "Smooth Talkin" and you have two tracks which make it impossible to keep still.

"My Heart" welcomes a change in mood with a loose two-step swing and moody vocals: a track made for the feels. But before you get too self-indulgent, the deep bass grooves of "Soul Food" bring the energy right back and "Tension"'s euphoric piano chords leave things on an ecstatic high.

Following on from last years roaring success of HMND001, Humanoid Recordings hit again with a super-strength four-track EP from man of the moment DMC.

On the A-side, “The High Rip” pushes and pulls, dropping dancefloor delight at every turn, whilst “Afternoon Snacker” comes with incredible relentless energy - it's slap-style bassline providing pure bliss. Over on the B-side, “Vallyrie” keeps up the unerring quality with it's Italo-esque bassline and magical pads that wash over the mix beautifully. “Same Way as the Stars” rounds off the EP with pure class, mixing depth, musicality and dancefloor functionality, showcasing DMC's flair for high quality production as is the theme throughout. A must have!

Ellis Dee is basically the godfather of rave music and rave events. I think its official to say that a rave wasn’t a rave unless he was gracing the decks! He has was there at the inception of the movement and is still out there now pushing the sound and smashing up DJ sets.

And this is kind of how this release came about. Ellis Dee was booked for an Australian tour and one of the events was in Perth. Without his knowledge, two producers had decided to remake two of his classic tracks and surprise him by playing them at the same event, as they were performing on the same bill. Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to covid and the tour didn’t take place.

So Boykz and Chapman contacted Vinyl Fanatiks as they knew Ellis Dee worked with the label, explained the story and shared the tracks. The remixes were incredible, two respectful revamps, with original samples sourced, but a fresh interpretation that still harked as though it was made 30 years ago.

We couldn’t let these tracks vanish into history and decided to release them on Amen Brother. If you missed out on the originals being repressed on Vinyl Fanatiks a few years ago, don’t sleep on these badbwoys as they will bring any party back into 1992!

Fifth installment for the Orbitr Vinyl Series.

Numilume Music, fourth episode. Two brand new tracks by Numilume.

Storken’s „Lille Vals“ is among those type of infectious and addictive instrumentals that feel like songs without words, pop without divas or perfectly synthesized disco. Being the debut of a young and promising man from Sweden as, it received candid praise by dancers and DJs alike.
Originally „Lille Vals“ appeared as the centerpiece of Running Back’s One-swallow-sampler series, it earned its second spring on a dedicated 12inch release. Although still as much fun as the first time around, Storken’s precious little diamond gets a threepart remix treatment to season the dish. His fellow Ajaks offers a stripped down ans mesmerizing take that should make minimalists allergic sufferers of melodies happy. Newcastle’s power house Patrick Topping pulls out one of his tricks to beam it into his own world and brings out all the big elements to make it even – yes – bigger. Finally, Gerd Janson does the opposite and dubs out the highs and lows of the original to meet Augustus Pablo and Daniele Baldelli somewhere uptown.

"How that time has gone, vanished beneath night’s cover, just as if it never had been! The wall, wondrous high, decorated with snake-likenesses, stands now over traces of the beloved company. The ash-spears’ might has borne the earls away—weapons greedy for slaughter, Fate the mighty; and storms beat on the stone walls, snow, the herald of winter, falling thick binds the earth when darkness comes and the night-shadow falls, sends harsh hailstones from the north in hatred of men.

All earth’s kingdom is wretched, the world beneath the skies is changed by the work of the fates. Here wealth is fleeting, here friend is fleeting, here man is fleeting, here woman is fleeting—all this earthly habitation shall be emptied."

Planet Orange returns for their second release with four more original tracks, this time round we are proudly welcoming a personal favourite of the label, Midge Thompson. The A side of this four-track EP offers two powerful, chuggy, late hour numbers, keeping in touch with the deeper side of the label’s sound. The B-side follows up with two, house and electro inspired tracks that are sure to do well on any dancefloor.

Original Sonic Groove family member, Reade Truth returns to the label after a 20+ year hiatus. His latest effort, “2nd Qtr ” consists of four hard-hitting acid techno workouts. Once again Reade bristles with his uniquely psychedelic style that has many of the techno vinyl purists paying high prices for his past releases on Discogs. Get ready for an intense acid fueled journey thru your mind and into the stars beyond.” A1 An Acid Break (Or So It Seems) A2 Night House (Acid To Body) B1 Chemical Play Skool B2 Divided Pleasures

This is a masterpiece of the Italian producer Gianluca Pegoiani. Heavy beat, mysterious organic instrument and female vocal make this track a powerfull dancefloor hit.

Glueped is the joint production of the two Romanian artists―Melodie & Teluric. They have merged their musical understandings into a new sound, which combines both mystical harmonies and elemental grooves.

Peren is the third vinyl featuring Glueped, released in April 2020. This vinyl emphasizes the contemporary underground scene vibes while offering a glimpse of the forthcoming sound of Cinetic Art record label.

The sounds of Peren have the capacity to take the listeners on celestial journeys, and also make them feel rooted and present in this world. Its essence is in the frail aspect of time, that can be sensed through music.

Side A debuts with a playful tempo intertwined with a deep and experimental groove. The two tracks bring a melodic touch to modern minimal and give an evolving sense of energy.

Side B has a consistent approach, giving a more solid shape to sound, emphasizing dreamy waves of music.

With 2022 comes some much needed green shoots of positivity and recovery for creative folk all around the world. For us, in spite of the constant hovering in pandemic purgatory, neither here nor there, the tides appear to be turning in our favour. The added spare time of being in a state of clopen, combined with the healing twinkle in our artists’ eyes, has meant that we’ve worked on some of our favourite projects yet, and this next one – our 7th foray into the vinyl medium – is no exception. As you’ve probably noticed, here at CV, we like to reserve physical releases for when the artist is ready to present something truly special; a magnum opus of sorts. A divine fusion of old-skool and new-school breaks, acid, trance, and techno, Beyond The Forest is exactly that. One of our oldest friends, initially releasing on the label in 2016 under his now retired alias Sire, Selected Dream Memories (real name Côme Arthur) presents his most energetic, well-executed body of work to date. Slingshotting through celestial fields and bounding over flickering, emotion-drenched melodic elements; driven by zigzagging breakbeat percussion and an explosive low end, Arthur perfectly deepens our impression of his sonic niche. As always with Arthur’s productions, whether it be on the dance floor or beyond, each four of the releases’ tracks are sure to electrify, daze, enthral, captivate, and inspire. Remixing the spine-tingling acid track Sector 4, we have Sydney’s emerging authority on breaks, bass, and more: Mincy. She elevates the track from a more reserved and rhythm-based one to a feel good closer that’ll make the floor absolutely erupt in a breakbeat frenzy. Limited run vinyl, pressed by RAND Musik Leipzig and distributed by Inch by Inch.

The heroes of the Stackenscheider’s third release our fellow countrymen from different parts of the world — Anton Kubikov, Kirill Matveev and Raf. Each of whom gave us a unique cast of the very exclusive club atmosphere created also by them.

2021 Vinyl production on P.U.N.C.H.I.S. Records starts with a very strong Various Artists release featuring four awesome originals from the underground masters Blin Eff (Switzerland), Claudio Solis (Chile) and Djosh (Italy). Deep groove in every form of the Tech, Minimal and Breaks, mixed with some amazing vocals and bouncy basslines is an all around winner. Thirty minutes of quality organic music will surely satisfy any sophisticated dancefloor or the party.
Please support the artists and our label. Cheers to everyone!

Rise EP is the first vinyl release of "Reptil", a new Argentina-based label curated by Bernat.

This project becomes the deepest expression of his connection with music and is born as the result of years of hard work, going through an extensive sound quest.

The release features 3 originals that synthesize the musical influences that Bernat's been developing since his first records, taking elements from minimal, house, techno and electro, and aiming directly to the dancefloor.

Side B includes an outstanding remix by another Argentinian fellow, the rising talent Percunta, who delivers an atmospheric and powerful version of the main track of the EP, giving it his unmistakable style.

"1959" is a concept album dedicated to my father. The main theme is based on my particular perception of travel and movement, which are both narrated with similar and different electronic sounds at the same time. The double vinyl edition is divided into 4 sides entitled "Moon", "Flight", "Space" and "Land". The vocals of some tracks, such as "The Aircraft", were made with fragments of vocal announcements recorded in the airports during my tours. The plane, already featured on the cover of the single "Lux", is interpreted as a mysterious vehicle that travels in space-time. The album cover instead portrays my father's motorcycle, as if it were suspended in the sky during the transition from night to day, which in this case symbolizes the transition from the noise of earthly life to the stillness of eternity. In this new work of mine I found my Synth-pop, Electro and Ambient influences, combined with rhythms that lend themselves well both to listening and to the dance floor. Enjoy it!

It's been a while since Local Talk presented a 12" with two artists doing one side each but it's time again.

Italian powerhouse Nico Lahs glides smoothly between labels like Delusions Of Grandeur, Adeen and Rawax, working with house royalty Chez Damier and keeps delivering top quality music.
His contribution to this split 12" is the track 'Everything Is Good', one of those moments when everything (!) works just perfectly.
A straight forward track that embraces loops and repetition with hints of HNNY's golden days.

On the flip Local Talk's very own Tooli moves through a series of moods and grooves with the 'That Cowbell Track', a cut which eases you deeper and deeper into the dance, with clever rhythmic programming.
A dub that focuses on the cowbell is also added for your pleasure, because you can't have enough cowbell, can you ?

Frost Plates Limited second vinyl release reflects the blends of Argentinean minimal house Scene intertwined with german flavours. introducing new members to our label family, featuring Phil2 & Reyam (E1even, Heisenberg, Baile Musik), Martin Bellomo (Momentz, Rationalism, After:Fx), Awsi (Musica Lunar, HouseOnWax, Blind Vision), Trentz (Rationalism, Avotre, Whoyostro).

It's debut time!

Making his first appearance on wax is Manchester's hottest property, Approach Release. When he isn't creating cross-genre chaos behind the decks, this genial gee mans the tram, so you gotta know he's comfortable at the controls.
In addition to a clean drivers license, the man is in possession of some seriously deep crates and this three-tracker sees him pick out a few obscurities in serious need of some scalpel.

The A side serves up the swooning space disco of 'Krypton Factor', a mid-tempo trip into the mirror ball nebula which pairs sweet female vox and dramatic sax with malfunctioning electronics and chest height bass riffs. File it under set opener, sci-fi frother and future anthem!

Over on the B side, A.R. indulges in a little beatific boogie via 'Coma', an outer national excursion building from bubbling bass and classy keys into the eventual heart-swelling vocal, an arms aloft moment if ever we've heard one.
We've been dropping this anywhere there's a CDJ and are just as happy as you lot to have it on wax. Approach Release makes it three hits out of three on the B2, as a slept-on slice of synth-pop Francais gets a necessary extension and leaves its lame chorus on the cutting room floor. Tune in for taut drum machines, playful melodies and a chic vocal.

100% Drum Fun Guaranteed.

Check, For Example, The Heady Horizontal Shuffe Of trasimeno', Where Poignant Ambient Chords, Jazzy Electric Guitar Solos And Deep Space Electronics Tumble Down Over Shuffing Beats And A Squeezable Synthesizer Bassline, And The Sun-down Adriatic Wonder Of stella Dei Venti', A Track So Effortlessly Loved-up And Blissful That You Might Be Overcome By Emotion (it Certainly Had Us Daydreaming Of Days Spent Exploring The Intense Natural Beauty Of Italy's Adriatic Coast).

Their Roots May Be On The Dancefoor, But Hear & Now Are Fast Becoming Down Tempo Masters. You Can Dance If You Want To, But You May Just Want To Hug A Stranger Instead.

BLO is new sensation in LA’s the New Beat scene. Their classical song structures and arrangements with a modern twist capture and transport immediately to the golden era of the Belgian macro clubs of the late 80’s. Their debut EP include 3 original songs and a cover of Depeche Mode classical hit “Breathing in Fumes”

Since launching a few years back, Half Baked Records has consistently served up high quality fare from a mixture of underground heroes and rising stars. We'd put Luca Piermattei in the latter category, even though he's been releasing music for a few years and recently featured on Rawax. Memories of a Wonderful City is genuinely excellent, with the Italian doing a good job in combining vintage synth and drum machine sounds in a fresh and ear-pleasing way. Choose between the pleasingly bouncy, sci-fi-fired deep house dreaminess of 'Galaxy', the sleazy late-night brilliance of 'Vintage Style' (which incidentally features a frankly filthy acid bassline), the bustling sweatiness of extra-percussive opener 'Busy Life' and the undulating, analogue-heavy jazz-funk-goes-house hustle of '80's Sound'.
