Various - Stone Techno Series - Cubic EP
T3R003
The Third Room
12inch03.09.202103.SEP.21

TechnoTechno

marbled 12" Vinyl

Seamless to our first release of the Stone Techno series we are presenting the second edition of this unique concept. Each artist has been given a sample library consisting of recorded minerals from the Ruhr Area. The task was pretty clear, to create a track exclusively out of those sounds. The results are remarkably differing from each other and showing the huge creative potential of this project, which is a collaboration between the world famous Ruhr Museum foundation and The Third Room collective.

While Matrixxman delivers us an ambient driven masterpiece, RODHAD shows us his impeccable skills to create an ever-evolving tension in his dub techno influenced approach. Yan Cook on the B-Side is exploring the full potential of those samples to honor the industrial era and its machines, while T3R-Resident VNNN. is hailing with his hypnotic grooves the late hours of an extensive musical journey.

We hope you enjoy this imposing line-up of artists and its different styles within the release. There is more to be coming. Stay tuned!

Jimpster - Anthology Vol One 2x12"
FRLP38
Freerange
2x12inch03.12.202103.DEC.21

HouseClassicsDeepMinimalTechClassics

The world of dance music 25 years ago was a very different place from the one we now inhabit. Rave had transitioned through Hardcore into Drum & Bass whilst UK Garage was brewing nicely and the UK pop charts were full of underground dance records. Meanwhile, the likes of Mo Wax, Ninjatune and Compost were pushing away from the dancefloors, introducing blunted beats, jazz-fusion sonics and a whole new movement to electronic music. It was into this atmosphere that Freerange was born, a UK label that reaches its quarter-century this year. At the helm over the last 25 years has been the partnership of childhood friends Tom Roberts and Jamie ‘Jimpster’ Odell.

It’s been a long and eventful journey, from an era of 56k modems, faxed reaction reports and when DJs still bought actual records, Freerange has weathered many storms and sailed through some of the most revolutionary changes to hit the music industry. Through those 25 years, and like the proverbial comforting sound of Bob Ross’ voice, Jimpster’s own music and those artists he releases through the label remain a constantly reliable, not to mention dance floor-smashing presence through the ups and downs of the house music continuum.

This Anthology brings together some of Jimpster’s finest productions across two double pack vinyl LPs from the preceding two and a half decades, showcasing his detailed approach to production and proving why he continues to thrive in the current scene, continuing to be held in high regard by many of the founding fathers of house music and young up and coming producers alike.

The comp kicks off with the absolute dance floor fire of 2008’s ‘Dangly Panther’, a simple combo of some keys, some beats, some FX and a jazzy sample, but executed with such class and confidence that it became a deep house staple. ‘Seventh Wave’ first appeared in 2006 as part of Jimpster’s ‘Amour’ album. It’s a bit deeper, a bit techier and with a few more bleeps and plenty of that characteristic Jimpster heft and weight: proper 3 am business. ‘Don’t Push It’, features some of finest percussion you’ll hear on a contemporary house record, gorgeous strings and that indefinable something that Jimpster brings to all his records, that raise them above being a collection of pads, keys, beats and bass into compositions with longevity that you can dig out and play ten years after release and they still slay.

In some ways, this collection is a record of developments in UK Deep House as Jimpster slowly refined his sound over the years, continually reinventing the 4/4 template, creating new sounds, fresh chord progressions and original audio ideas, all geared towards creating memorable dance floor moments. He’s perfected a UK version of the sublime anticipation that is at the heart of the very best Deep House, that sense of sitting on the very edge of ecstasy, creating tracks that wonderfully stretch out those blissful moments.

What also becomes clear from listening through this compilation is the variety of styles and moods he’s bought to his releases. 2009’s ‘Sleeper’ for example is sleek, driving and futurist while 2018’s ‘Curve’ almost glows with a sun-kissed warmth. ‘Can’t Stop Loving’ from 2012’s ‘These Times’ EP is another tough jam, with its twisted vocal sample and prominent kick working in perfect sync with a set of classic Jimpster arms-in-the-air chords and wonderfully squelching bassline, an exercise in confident production. Meanwhile, the beguiling ‘Rollergirl’ has hints of EBM in its rigid sequenced bassline and epic pads.

Bringing us bang up to date is last year’s anthem-in-waiting ‘One’ featuring Casamena, a ticking time bomb of a track just yearning for a packed dance floor to go off in. Also included is the magnificent ‘English Rose’ featuring some of the tightest beats ever put on wax and its vocal-pads that are haunted by the ghost of ‘Blue Monday’. Ben Watt’s Buzzin Fly label was home to 2006’s ‘Square Up’, seven and a half minutes of gorgeous chords getting thoroughly rinsed out through a series of subtle peaks and troughs, Deep House heaven. In contrast, we’ve also included 2018’s absolute monster ‘Burning Up’, a taste of the tougher side of Jimpster’s production and a track 100% guaranteed to take the roof off every time. Likewise, his ‘A Love Like This’ is another crisp and highly efficient underground anthem. The album finishes on the almost-psychedelic sonic-soul treat ‘The Sun Comes Up’ featuring vocalist Jinadu, taken from the peerless ‘Silent Stars album.

In addition to Volumes One and Two, there is also a third (digital only) volume containing a selection of Jimpster’s more downtempo gems for the more horizontal moments.
Jimpster has become a watchword in house music for a particular kind of Deep House depth, warmth and groove, a reliable source of utterly solid dance floor jams, his production schedule a conveyor belt of high-quality sonic bombs, loved by DJs and punters alike. Here’s to another quarter of a century of Jimpster's music.

Otis - Cocoon of Fantasies and Illusions EP
ERROR103
System Error
12inch22.04.202122.APR.21

HouseProgressiveAcidBreaks

With its 3rd release on the ERROR100 Series, System Error showcases Italian producer Otis, who delicately produced 5 club orientated tracks pulling influences from acid to trance, yet preserving a strong sBerlin based label System Error ignite their 2021 with further mind stretching material, this time they call on Otis to take on the role of master of operations. The “Cocoon Of Fantasies & Illusions” EP meanders across five tracks, touching on refined strains of techno, electro and breaks built for the rave.

“Taking Control” is built to take command of a club space, all of the elements working in harmony, to make a well rounded intergalactic trip. Straight Electro flow in “Just A Game” laden with acid squelches, the title of the track rocking back and forth via a mysterious vocal sample, a sense of nostalgia with elements from the past.

Opening the B side is “Inborn Archetype”, a chunky affair, jam packed with action. Huge drums ground the track as emphatic driving synths, and pads take the track to another level, ready to go to war. Riding an elastic sub heavy bass line is “Anima”, playful and curious. “Wreaks Havoc” is built around distinctive 90s breaks energy, with acid tones ricocheting from every surface. The shortest of the tracks but certainly packs a punch.

ERROR103 coming in strong, setting things up for what is set to be a prolific year for the System Error imprint, several releases already scoped out for the year, curated by known affiliates of the label, and some fresh names. Dance music from the future. System. Error. ense of house music.

Shdw & Obscure Shape - Version 004.2
FAM004.2
From Another Mind
12inch26.08.202026.AUG.20

TechnoTechno

Repress

From Another Mind, founded in 2014, presents its fourth and most capacious release to date. Having started off initially as a South-German Party series, this release sees commanders-in-chief SHDW & Obscure Shape invite back previous guests from the
clubnight, just this time using their talents as remixers to breathe new life into the first three much praised From Another Mind records.

The likes of Rødhåd, Tale Of Us & Mind Against, Dax J, Konstantin Sibold and Shlomo all feature with contributions staying true to the Label's sound forged initially by its founders, and whether going down an epic or a more banging path, all versions pay respect to that special hypnotism which has found so many supporters.

Veteran Producer James Ruskin masterfully condenses - Nachtblende down to a loop while Ryan James Ford brings a touch of IDM-ish Bleep Techno to - Augen Der Nacht .
Ed Davenport explores his Inland project further, contributing a stepping techno journey which is only matched by Rødhåd´s version in its sheer vastness.
The release is split in two version EPs, namely FAM004.1 & FAM004.2. Both artworks function by themselves however its full glory shines when held next to each other as the paintings complement each other.

P.A. Presents - Flight Acid / Salicylic Stimulator
20UTRQDM7
U-Trax
2x12inch17.12.202117.DEC.21

TechnoTechno

Utrecht label U-Trax welcomes 90s legend P.A. Presents for an enhanced re-release of his first two releases on this label, namely "Salicylic Acid" and "Flight Simulator".

Ironically P.A. Presents aka Peter Aarsman is the only artist on U-TRAX that actually is born and bred in the city of Utrecht. Even more irony lies in the fact that he hasn't lived in the city for 25 years and has only recently returned home. He was an early player in the hip hop and boogie scenes and long before house landed in Europe he was playing disco and Italo which helped establish him as a truly vital DJ talent. The two reissue EPs presented here marked his production debut back in 1993, both of which are hugely sought after and pricey techno records on second hand markets. In 2019 he returned to the music scene with two new EPs on U-Trax in the the form of Swirling Gas and Sax Madness and new releases are planned for 2020.

The release kicks off with 'Mesopmorph', an effervescent, nostalgic cut with a deeply buried techno rhythm that eventually takes over in tribal style. 'Pop' is a brilliantly tense and dense track wired up with fizzing synths, chattering claps and haunting effects as well as pending drums, then 'Theme' is cosmic industrial, with powerful hits and metallic sounds married to searching laser synths.

'Vera S' is classic 90s techno with mad vocal sounds and frantic synth lines darting about the mix, then things grow deeper and more heady on the stripped back intergalactic journey that is 'Flight Simulator.' The timelessness continues on the dancing analogue drums and hi hats of the classic Detroit styled 'Experiental' and 'A Gasp' before 'Vexillum' brings more warm solar winds and molten techno grooves whist 'Long Metal' closes out with pounding kicks, skewed synths and real sense of space travel.

These are essential early techno tracks that sound as fresh and relevant now as ever and come with remastering and restoration from Thee J Johanz.

Pressed on 2x12" 180 grams grey marbled vinyl.

ZEITGEBER - SEVENTEEN ZERO FOUR

TechnoAcidTechno

10” clear vinyl) Five years on since their last joint outing in Stroboscopic Artefacts Monad series, Speedy J and Lucy team up again as Zeitgeber on 'Seventeen Zero Four', a new three-tracker descending deep into the filthy, tenebrous outskirts of club music.

Five years on since their last joint outing in Stroboscopic Artefacts Monad series, Speedy J and Lucy team up again as Zeitgeber on 'Seventeen Zero Four', a new three-tracker descending deep into the filthy, tenebrous outskirts of club music. Torchbearers of techno as a life-affirming vehicle for human expression, as can be experienced through their multi-dimensional back catalogue of solo records and shared live performances at some of the finest clubs and events including Concrete, Goa Club and London’s E1, it's safe to say Jochem and Luca share a certain taste for taking things off the beaten path and into new perspectives. True to their bold approach towards production, 'Seventeen Zero Four' proudly continues the pair's tradition of chiselled floor-focused shifts and divagations outside the ringfenced domain of no-nonsense 4/4 mechanics initiated on their self-titled debut album in 2013.

Drawing first blood, the title-track 'Seventeen Zero Four' submerges us in a state of amniotic solitude as hell's all set to break loose around. Sonar bleeps drip and dissolve across invisible plateaux as thunder rumbles and roars in the distance, mirroring and shattering all linearity between the bars. 'One Zero Five' then implements a further straightforward groove, sequenced hats and kicks carving out a more familiar scenario for the dancers to appropriate, whilst maintaining that oddball, slightly off kind of minimal, dubbed-out blur. Rounding off the package, 'Twenty Zero Two' throws further jazz into the mix, letting its sine curves hula hoop into the upper layers of the outer-audio-space as a shrewdly engineered industrial swing drops the hammer for an epic last stretch.

Detroit's Filthiest / Go Nuclear - Nightmares 2 Realities / Torture Chamber
BA102
Bass Agenda
12inch28.02.202028.FEB.20

TechnoElectro

180g
Repress
Detroit's Filthiest and Go Nuclear are back sharing wax on Bass Agenda Recordings. The heat from their first split release on the label in 2017 is still radiating around the world, with tracks from both artists still getting support from the likes of DJ Stingray and leaving a trail of Electro destruction over the last 24 months thanks to Dave Clarke, Helena Hauff, UMEK, and many more out on the front-line spreading the word.

Detroit's Filthiest really should need no introduction at this stage in the game; one of Ghetto Tech's originators, a prolific artist with countless releases behind him spanning genres and, most interestingly, blending genre influences in ways that show vision and creativity on a level that is rare these days. This adventurous approach is always harnessed to the main mission though - getting people moving. This is dance floor Electro, laced with darkness and meant for those dark places true headz go to escape life's bullshit.

New Zealand's Go Nuclear came out all guns blazing with their debut on Bass Agenda Recordings in 2017 and their sound has developed at a pace to be reckoned with, turning heads in the Electro scene and quickly establishing themselves as one of the freshest acts out there. Similar in some ways to Detroit's Filthiest, you can trace each track back to the roots of the authentic Electro genre, but this is next is gen stuff - Electro evolved. Of course both artists could release each of these EPs separately, but this is more than just releasing music, it's also long term friends working together, critiquing each other's work, pushing each other to build a record that, like 2017's Descent Into Darkness/Machine Learning split release, finds a long term home in any discerning Electro DJ's bag.

Weiss & Eli Brown - Push It Up

KALUKI MUSIK
12inch13.12.201813.DEC.18

HouseTech

Two of the scene's hottest artists Weiss and Eli Brown drop a rave-inspired collab that further establishes them as prodigiously talented producers.

After breaking into the scene back in 2013, Weiss has risen to ever greater heights, with his releases inspiring support from the most respected names in the industry including Gorgon City, Eats Everything, Shadow Child, Hot Since 82 and Claude Vonstroke. His deep, jackin', Chicago-inspired tracks have also seen much success on label's like This Ain't Bristol, Toolroom and Dirtybird, and now makes his Kaluki debut alongside Eli Brown.

Having emerged from the shadows of Bristol's fabled drum and bass scene, Eli Brown has rapidly established himself as an artist of real distinction in the house world, with his singularly sinister, twisted records having made an immediate impact. Repopulate Mars, ViVA Music, Toolroom and more have all recognised Brown's raw, sometimes caustic talent: if you're looking for dance music with character, you're in the right place.

'Push It Up' is the first collaboration between these two producers, and is as commanding a house cut as you would expect. Starting off with tough, sinewy drums and a mammoth, Reece-like bassline, at the midway point it break down into full-on rave territory, complete with Amen break, pounding 808s and soaring pads. Guaranteed to send a dancefloor into a frenzy, this is yet another sterling effort from two artists at the very top of their game.

SA003 sees label owner Lucy and underground trailblazer Ercolino, inspired by novelist Michael Ende's imagery, create two visions of a nihilistic future. The 12" begins with the tale of fear incarnate "Gmork", the most powerful weapon for controlling society. The A-side is a portrait of this terrifying beast: slinking baselines come from its black heartbeat and white noise grows from its unearthly appetites. Fat, squelching noises emerge as light, hope and ideas are quashed, ground up and eaten. What emerges is a genius slice of dark, brooding techno crafted from the nectar of your darkest nightmare. The story gets even bleaker with "So The Nothing Grows Stronger", a narrative of blips, bleeps and squeals. Dadub also masterfully extracts two crafty dj tools provided as digital bonuses. No excuse to not spread the savage stories that you have heard.

There is a sensibility of decadence and corroded grandeur etched within its four album sides, reminding us that historically 'decadent' times have nonetheless resulted in some of the boldest acts of individual and collective creativity. Like the 'floral' theme that has remained a consistent feature of S.A.'s graphic presentation, the music here equally presents fragility and intensity in a way that really drives home this visual metaphor for good, while still holding out the promise that similar creations will be seeded in the near future.Though many of the artists involved have set of residence outside of their native Italy, all contribute here to make a captivating portrait of a shared spirit and cultural memory. The album opens with 'Errori,' deceptively fragile sonic ornaments crafted and suspended in space by Blackest Ever Black artist Silvia Kastel. This is followed closely by the mellifluous, warming glow of percussionist Andrea Belfi's 'Spitting & Skytouching,' and then by the resolute electric bass patterns and luminous fog of 'Lux et Sonus,' from Eeri label head Marco Shuttle. Hospital Productions alumnus Ninos du Brasil open the B-side with a similarly dense, amorphous construction built from tribalistic chants and rhythmic patterns, to be followed by Mannequin label boss Alessandro Adriani's 'You Will Not Be There For The End,' showcasing his distinctive take on the 'paranoiac breakdance' aesthetic of classic EBM. S.A. veteran Chevel rounds out the first record in the program by interlacing several percolating synth lines together into a richly conversational piece. The journey continues with 'Starving The Mind,' an undulating mini-epic from S.A. founder Lucy that is animated by his signature balance of seductiveness and concentration. The bright, biting acid synth tones of 'PRV-HH3-X', by Lory D, then takes a sharp right turn into an invisible metropolis ruled by reflective high fashion and hidden intrigue. The imposing architecture of 'Virgo Rebellion,' designed by modular synth futurist Caterina Barbieri, acts as an excellent companion piece, and sets up the closing '4G' from Spazio Disponibile co-founder Neel - a crepuscular serenade that accurately sums up much of the foregoing activity.

Romania’s Victor Stancov inaugurates his Simple Tracks imprint this
October with the ‘Apollo’ EP, backed with a remix from Wareika.

Victor Stancov is a producer and DJ hailing from the coastal region of
Constanta, Romania, a country that’s become synonymous with the
stripped-back twist in contemporary house Stancov delivers here via his new label simple:tracks. As the name would suggest, the label’s aim is to find pleasure and joy in the simple things, delivering dance floor focused cuts for groove seekers.

To launch simple:tracks Stancov himself steps up to deliver two
originals on the debut 12’’ and up first is titlecut ‘Apollo’, laid out
over six and a half minutes with an amalgamation of choppy chord
sequences, swinging percussion and subtly nuanced bass to create a
hypnotic introduction. The second original ‘Delos’ follows, retaining a
similarly ethereal aesthetic courtesy of snaking dubbed out synths,
winding pads and a bumpy bass hook. To round out the release Wareika deliver their interpretation of ‘Delos’, and as expected from the German minimal maestro’s the guys delivery a typically unique twist on things. Reshaping the originals synth elements while stirring in intricately modulating percussion and tripped out metallic synth chimes to complete the package.
